Hey it’s Josh over J and H today we’re looking at the pen battle to BTL to 8000 spinning reel. This is the largest of the series of the new battle tubes. Basically pen redesigned these reels for this year. You know the pen battle is basically you know one of the best-selling reels of all times extremely popular.

You know you get a lot of real for a little bit of money. This one retails for 130 bucks, basically you’re talking 30 pounds of drag. You can switch the handle from right to left six ball bearings. The ball bearings in here are actually sealed instead of shielded, so you can have a ton of corrosion resistance, it’s much smoother than than the previous model, and they really did a great job with the gearing and the ball bearings.

You know trips over nice and smooth nice big, handle I’m Hailie to see how long it is really comfortable to hand- and this is just a great saltwater rule. You know perfect for pitching baits a sailfish or you know, throwing popping plugs to amberjack. That kind of stuff holds a ton of line you’re going to get almost 400 yards of 80 pound test braid on here.

It’s all metal construction. Well, the body, the rotor to spool. Everything on here is metal. It’s just a really well-made real for a great price gary is shown. Here is a five point. Three to one and like I said, it’s got, pens topple on drag system, HT 100 drag washes and it’s just a really well-made real, it’s extremely popular.

So if you’re, looking for a big reel, like I, said you’re doing some of that offshore saltwater fishing, like I, said sailfish amberjack. That kind of thing this is definitely a great affordable option, so check it out. It’s a pen battle to BTL to 8000 spinning reel. They are in stock and available at JH com.

Talk to you about an exciting new spinning reel, not not exactly new, but a relaunch of the battle too. So the original battle came out quite a few years ago, and we’ve now made some improvements. The relevant talk to you about, but let’s start with the sizes, so we’ve got a 1 000, a 2 000, a new size of 2 500, a 3 000, a 4 000, a 5 000, 6 000 and our biggest size, the 8 000.

So one thousand eight thousand so think light light, light, inshore or really even light freshwater. All the way up to a near shore off shore think sailfish think dolphin that type of stuff. So let’s talk a little bit about the real first of all on the sizing with the new 2500. The reel is on the mm size body. It also. It has a new rotor, so a bigger rotor and a bigger spool.

So it filled a gap that we have between the two thousand three thousand size, so think. Really technical lightweight, graphite rods, think 10 15 pound braid. There was a little bit of a gap in our spinning reel line up for that technical, inshore guy and we’ve now filled it with a 2500 size, really light weight balances out really nice loans on a nice graphite, 7 foot rod in addition to the new size.

Let’s talk a little bit about the features that set this new battle apart, so we’ve added line capacity range to the spool. That’s something you’ve seen on all pen reels for the past few years, so it kind of helps the angler understand well how much line they have left on the reel, especially when fishing from a dead boat, big fish. How much line do I have left? Do we need to go? Can we stay that type of conversation? You have a better idea how much line you have left on the reel because of the line capacity rings.

Another thing we did is we keyed the drag washers into the spool, so by keying the drag washers into the spool and I’m talking about HT 100 right washers. We’re now able to use both sides of the drag washer and I should mention that all penn drag systems now are greased. On the spinning reels, we use our penn blue lube, which I’m sure you’re familiar with it’s inside all our rails.

We also greased our HT 100 with that and for our spinning reel drags back to the the keen of the drag washers. What that does by by using both sides of the drag washer we’re now able to get about 20% more aggghhhhh than the previous battle, not that a lot of people max out the drug. But it’s always nice to know you have it if you have to stop a Phish heading for cover or that’s about to spool you.

Another big upgrade in my mind is that we’re going to sealed bearings in the battle. So in the past, we’ve use stainless steel, shielded ball bearings that shield protects the race from basically saltwater intrusion, but the sealed ball bearings have an added layer of protection. I mean it’s actually a tight system. That’s that prevents saltwater from getting into the bearing the number one reason reals come back to the repair shop is because salt were got into a bearing it, dried out it crystallized and now the bearing sounds rough and the reel feels rough by having a seal bearing we’re able to avoid that situation a little longer than if we were using shielded bearings.

It’s not a hundred percent sure, but the bearings are sealed from the manufacturer. So so that’s where that’s where we are we’re sticking around the same same retail, so basically ninety nine to 129 on the biggest size. The battle battle reel will be available at your retailer. This fall fall, 2014 check them out.

Hey guys, it’s josh over at jane h. This is the pen battle. 3 8000, spinning reel a really large, spinning rail from pen perfect for your offshore species, like you want to do shark fishing from the beach or some like tuna fishing, any of that kind of stuff. You don’t want to spend a ton of money, but you want a quality reel. This is it 145 bucks get you all aluminum construction, cnc gears which are really really nice. This real feels really good. The power that I’m generating from turning the handle is going right into the reel.

No flex, it’s just going to do exactly what you want it to do, and it’s going to hold up well over time again. It’s all lumen construction, this this really can kind of beat on, and it’s going to just keep on ticking um. Six ball bearings sealed stainless steel. Ball bearings weighs in at 27 7 ounces and a 4 7 to 1 gear ratio. So again you want to do your jigging. You want to do surf fishing perfect for that. It’s got this nice long handle arm and this new rubberized half ball.

Three quarter ball: whatever you want to call, it feels really good in your hand, just different than what else is on the market. I applaud pen for trying something new. I think guys are gonna like it. I think you’ll like it too and um it’s just a different design and it feels nice in my hand, feels comfortable and um. It’s gonna get the job done. Nice aluminum bail, automatic trip which, in a real this size, is sort of uncommon nowadays, most uh, most times it’s a manual trip, but this is automatic for you guys who, like automatic, drag knob right there, infinite settings, 30 pounds of drag just a tremendous amount of drag on this drill.

You got your clicker there and again it’s just really well made for the money you know for 145 bucks, you’re not gonna, find a better reel. This isn’t the sexiest reel, but it is a workhorse and it’s gonna get the job done: uh brass pinion gear and brass main gear. I mean power, durability and long life. So if you’re someone who’s just starting out fishing or you’ve been fishing a while, and you want something with some power, something that’s going to last a long time, something that you can, even you know, put a little bit of abuse into.

Don’t go crazy, but something that’s just going to take it um. You know this is definitely definitely the way to go so check it out. Pen battle, three eight thousand spinning reel get yours at jh com or on the jna chap you.

No ah [Música], ah [Música] [Aplausos], [Música] [Aplausos] e [Música], [Aplausos] [Música], [Música] e [Música], [Aplausos] [Música], no aquí, [Música] él.

Piss piss piss up. Oh, it’s a monster bass. It’s a monster! Oh good! One I do a lot of spinner bait fishing, spinner bait, spinner, bait, spinner bait! It’s been amazing, alright guys so today, I have a little bit of a different video planned I’m, actually going to be doing an unboxing and first look at this new reel that I bought. This is the pissy fun flame mm. It features 10 bearings, so 9 plus 1, like your ratio of 5 2 to 1 retrieve per turn, is 25 point. 2 inches actually never heard that spec before maximum drag is 13 point 2 pounds yeah the weight of the reel itself is 8 5 ounces, the mono capacity is 5 pounds at 330 yards and the brain capacity is 12 pounds at 400 yards.

Maybe putting much of your braid in that on this yeah, exceptionally smooth ultra light, the piece of fun flame mm all right. So let’s get this baby open up, see what we got now the reel itself and gonna actually come back to that. We got sticker for the app awesome and owner’s manual in six different languages. You lock in handle style using anti reverse Loffler Mulla and has a breakout views. You can see all the different parts part numbers I’ll come back to that when I break the tank right sticker for the app done with that.

So let’s get to the real itself. Oh yeah, all right! That’s got a nice weight to it, so it has a full graphite body, as a lot of reels are starting to do these days, anti reverse switch, it’s actually a matte black with a glossy red, aluminum spool, which looks really nice. On that black looks super sharp and I bet you it won’t. You know a lot of my other glossy reels. They get a little bit dirty and then they just don’t look good, but I bet you this one really well.

Another thing you can kind of look at for quality is the gauge of the bail wire here and it’s a really thick one um very snappy mechanism there, which is always great to see it’s. You know nice snappy, sound um, like I, said an aluminum spool, which is really nice. I’ll be my trade right there, and that is just exceptionally smooth. Like I said, it’s got, 10 bearings I, believe nine plus one yep, and you can really just feel it there and if I get it going, it just keeps going and going that looks awesome and graphite body.

It feels a lot more sturdy than other reels have used in the past good handle. It looks like it has a hinge here, so you can for transport. Yeah I mean it’s a spinning, no there’s not too much else to it. So one thing when I was picking out this reel on Amazon I was kind of concerned about the size, because I’ve ordered reels before online, and it’s really hard to tell what the size is because they have like you know like dimensions, but it’s kind of hard to picture it until you get it in your hands.

So just for some scale. This is a mm sighs. So this is I’ll start smaller. This is the real I was using at the beginning of this year. David actually gave us to me. This is a Shakespeare navigator. I just got one ball bearing, and it’s made out of plastic gets kind of cheaper, as you could see in my last video actually when I coach them caught that northern it was kind of struggling, so I’m like I, should probably upgrade the citizen that wasn’t working very well anyway, so this is actually a very similar size, and this is what I would call a smaller real, not quite like ice fishing or anything, but you can kind of see it to scale with me.

It’s a smaller reel. This is the mistake that I made last time: I ordered online. This is a cast King summer 4000, so I actually got this or river fishing, and for that it works. Well, it’s like basically a cat fishing reel. The thing is huge again. This is a 4000 model, so I got it forever. Fishing that works great, but again I did not want to speak of real-life marketing, so I’m gonna be using this one, obviously for bass, fishing, a northern fishing and honestly I think this is like the perfect size.

I thought it was gonna, be a little bit bigger and I. Actually didn’t want it to be so this should work out just perfectly yeah. So obviously, I can’t comment on long-term durability right now, but I will definitely do a whole review after I use this for quite a bit, and it’s just really solidly built I can feel that what they grabbed the graphite bodies, I’m really really a fan of these the knob is really solid. It kind of has like a little rubber handle very solid, very smooth, I’m gonna be pairing this with my six foot, six ugly, stick: two-piece, spinning rod; yes, it’ll be ugly 60 X to six and a half foot, spinning rod which I want to get a new rod, but I’m, actually gonna wait till I get 200 subscribers and then I’m going to buy a new rod.

That’s a seven foot! Six I already have a picked out, but it’s a little more pricey, so I’m gonna wait a little bit and use this for a while. But yeah I’m really excited to use this, but what’s crazy about this real, if I got this for only $23 on e on the side and I’ve seen other reels at Walmart and other places that have looked and felt like this kind of quality that have cost it, you know double or triple this. So I think this is fantastic deal. Obviously, I haven’t fished with it.

Yet my next video when I go out the kayak in the next couple days. I will be testing it out and, like I said, I’ll follow up with a review, but first impressions of this reel I am super impressed by how smooth and how well it works all righty. So I got it all spooled up blind and Bates all rigged up with my snap I should get some difficult brain, so it matches, but you know that’ll happen want to get money. Yeah that’ll never happen so I’m gonna go. Do some practice cast with this right now and see how it works.

So I’ll see you guys in the next one. If you liked this video, give it a like if you loved it subscribe. Let’s go catch, some trees.

Alright, so today we got an unboxing, it’s a real unboxing for my finesse bass. Fishing I got this Pisgah fun flame. It’s a three thousand exceptionally smooth ultra light, and then here are all the specs on the box, something over here. So bearings. We have ten gear ratio. It’s a 5-2 to one retrieve per turn is 21 inches at point. 6 inches where’d I get 21 from max drag, is fourteen point: three supreme high drag weight, 8 9, it’s somewhat light Pasties for mono.

We have 11 pounds 195 yards and you know there was 11 pound test braid at 25 pounds. It’s 290 yards I’ll, probably want to use a backing on their parade open. This thing up here it gives us a little booklet. Here, it’s fun fish with family. It gives you just Amazon search things like aspirin, exploded view and some parts breakdowns. Yet I’ll shut it I’m, gonna, clean it, keep it clean and then, of course see which is the real thing that is pretty on there.

Alright. So we have, let’s see that’s graph, I, don’t know! That’s plastic, yeah! Well, closer! Look there much much closer! Look already so first impressions. It is extremely smooth actually look at that. That is nice very nice. It has a braid little abrasion thing on there for the braid to help you spool up braid, which is really nice. It’s a little small for a three thousand, but I think that ties into that ultralight. So it is a smaller body which I do like I hate when you get that huge ginormous reel and you’re trying to lug it around everything, but everything seems to it seems to work exceptionally well, very nice I’m thinking it almost seems like it’s a graphite instead of plastic, but I’m not positive on that, but so far first impressions I really really really liking it.

It should look really good on my what is it it’s a Field & Stream inferno, a flaming inferno, I’ll go good together and yeah. So for 24 bucks, I, don’t yeah I could have gone wrong. I will make a part two to this video later on in the year after using it a few times to you know, see how it performs in the world. You know get a little dirty see if it still works just as well or if even holds up, because if some of you guys might know my finesse rods kind of holding up very well.

My last one first, the rod broke got a new rod. Then the real broke so kind of laughter. I didn’t have a finesse setup, so this year, I’m going in going right with the finesse setup, but I guess that’s about all. I can really ramble on in this video. So if you guys enjoyed this video, please like subscribe and have a great day.

With another video in today’s video we’re going to be doing a review of the Daiwa BG, so let’s not waste any time and let’s jump right into it all right. So here we are. We got the dialogue. Bg all laid out. I got a 3500 series reel that I actually bought about two and a half months ago now I wanted to buy this reel because, first of all, I needed a new spinning reel.

Second of all, I wanted a new type of reel, so I’ve always fished Shimano and pin primarily and I’ve never had to dial a product before. So this is my first dialog product and I wanted to get it. The BG specifically because I heard nothing but good things about it, especially from the remake, because this is a remake of the black and gold series that they had and that reel was around for thirty plus years in saltwater and it stood the test of time.

So that’s a testament to dial WA, so I wanted to get the BG. Try it out myself and give you guys my honest opinion about it. So, let’s get into some facts about the BG okay. So let’s take a close look at the BG. First of all, we’re gonna take a look at the appearance and I gotta say that it’s one of my favorite looking reels. It really has a polished.

Look to it now when I first saw the BG I, wasn’t a huge fan of the look of it or the more time I’ve had to play with it and have it in my hands. It really is a sexy-looking reel just the way the spool is it’s all CNC machined. So it’s the my new details are absolutely phenomenal. You also have the details on the drag cap there, which are impeccable, and it’s just a really overall good-looking reel.

So dial would really impressed me just with the way the reel looks in that $100 price point: you’re not gonna, get a better looking real all right. So, let’s jump into all the internals of the BG and all the facts and all the good stuff that you fishermen want to hear because I know you want these stats about the reel or facts about the reel.

So you know what you’re getting at at the BG. So in this 3500 series reel, you got a 5 7 to 1 gear ratio, which isn’t really that bad at all, I’ve been very impressed with it and it’s a little slower for my liking, but I’ve been nonetheless impressed with it. The reel itself weighs 14 1 ounces, that’s quite a bit when it comes to a spinning reel or a 3500 series reel I.

Wouldn’t it’s super heavy, but it’s not the lightest of reals. So when you’re using artificial, it’s hit or miss I mean throughout the day you’re gonna get tired using this reel I’ve noticed, especially when you’re hitting the 8 to 10 hour, mark you’re really going to get worn down, but for live bait fishing. It’s absolutely perfect. You’re, also getting 17 6 pounds of drag and that’s the phenomenal thing about this.

Bg is the drag it puts out for a 3500 series reel now. I know the competitor and a 4000 series reel you’re, only getting 15 pounds of drag for its closest competitor, the pin battle -. So it puts it to shame when it comes to the drag system and that’s why you buy these BG’s the amount of time and effort that goes into these drag system that dial up puts into them is remarkable because they really last and they’re, really smooth so I’ve been absolutely nothing but impressed you’re.

Also getting seven bear bearings in this reel. You got six ball bearings and one roller bearing and I’ve been nothing but impressed with those two just flawless and unbelievable. I’ve only had it for two and a half months, but I’ve had no issues thus far, and it’s just been absolutely smooth. Another great thing about the BG is the line capacity everybody raves about how much line you can put on these things now.

This is one knock that I’ve had on the reel. Is I spoil it exactly the amount of thirty pound braid on here that they recommend, so they recommend 230 yards of thirty pound braid can go on this reel and I split it up with about 220 yards of spider, wire and I think that it overfilled the reel just a little bit. So those numbers might be rounded up, but nonetheless it still holds a lot of line compared to the competitors.

It’s a really deep spool. So if you’re looking for a reel that can hold a lot of line this. Is it right here? Alright? So let’s get onto the honest review of the dial Abhijeet here, I got it laid out with the Box, the original box that it came in. So let’s start off with things that I dislike about the reel, because I like the bad stuff first and the good stuff later, because it just makes me feel a lot better.

So the first thing that I dislike about the BG is the bail. Now a lot of people say the bail is really a huge issue. Well, yeah you’re gonna use the bail every single cast, so the bail is a huge issue. Now. Is it a huge issue with the BG? Not necessarily the only downside to the bail that I see is just the thickness of it. It’s a really light bail and it doesn’t have a real good click over the spring in it isn’t exactly the best so daya.

If you’re listening just put a better spring in this- and you want to say, have the perfect little reel so when I pulled it back, it just doesn’t go as far as most reels. It doesn’t leave a huge gap there and it also doesn’t give you that really good click I mean it sounds okay right now, but on the water, it’s just not that pleasing when you click this bail over I like a loud click.

Just like pen pen has a really good bail system. There spring really clicks it over and you get a really good snap out of it. I mean overall, if I had to read it out of a ten I would say the bail itself is like a seven out of ten. It’s really held up good, but it’s just a light bail system, all right, so another knock that I might have on the BG.

Is the reeling knob here the dog that you’re gonna crank all your fish in with now for deep dropping and things of that nature, it’s a great knob. It gives you really good grip and you could really reel down on those fish, but when you’re using artificial, that big knob just gets annoying I would like the little felt ball or something like that when I’m using the artificials, but when I’m cranking something off the bottom, that’s the type of knob that I’m gonna use now I know you can’t please everybody, especially when you’re buying from a 1500 series reel all the way to a 10000 series reel.

So you can’t really I mean I would prefer them to change the knob as the reel got a little bit bigger, but other than that I mean it’s still a decent, decent knob. Now the last knock that I have on the BG and then we’re gonna get any of the good stuff is the weight of it. It’s a little bit on the heavier side, especially when you’re using artificial.

It’s not the lightest thing to be lugging around all day and have it in your hands all day. I ended up getting tired or I, get tired around 7 to 10 hours of fishing when I’m using artificial. It just gets really exhaust Sting’s jerking this little reel around now. I know what you’re thinking you’re thinking Chris. Why would I bought want to buy a spinning reel that you just not hold your horses guys? This is a badass little reel, let’s get into the good things and the things that I like about the BG.

So the number one thing that I like about the Daiwa BG is the fish ability of it now. I know that’s a broad word I’m coming up with my own little word when it comes to this reel is the fish ability of it and what I mean fish ability or when I say fish ability, I mean it does a lot of things really really well so I may have had my knocks on it, my three little knocks, but other than that it is a badass little reel.

The fish ability is unbelievable because you can go from fishing, a Carolina rig or a knocker rig on the bottom to using a little John in the flats just bouncing it around now. I said that the artificial you know it’s not the best artificial reel, but that’s just because of the weight that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do it it does it really well.

So if you need a reel, that is gonna do a lot of things. Well then, this is the reel right here, because it covers all spectrums, especially when you get the 1500 series all the way up to the 10000. You can fish for any type of species with the spinning reel and its really unbelievable. The next thing that I love about this reel is the drag system.

Dial puts a lot of thought into that drag system and that’s why you buy the BG, because you get that extra two pounds of drag and a 3500 series reel and that you can horse some fish. So if you’re fishing for those redfish under some cover or some snook under some docks, you’re gonna be able to really lock that dirt drag system down and get those fish out of cover.

No problem with the BG and I’ve had no problems with it. No slippage, so it’s just been a really remarkable dragsters all right. So another thing that I love about the BG is it comes braids red. That’s a really my new thing that dial will looked at when you’re looking at $100 reel you’re, not going to get all those little specificities that you’re gonna get in the higher-end reels all the little my new details and that’s one of them because I don’t know how many times I’ve lined up my reel and gone shoot I forgot to put backing on because it doesn’t come braid ready and for $100 reel like braids ready, that’s a testament to Iowa.

Thank you, so I don’t have to buy any more backing or any more little line to put on my spinning room. The next thing that I love about the BG is guys it’s a hundred dollars. This is a class, a real for a hundred dollars, yeah it’s in the price point from 80 to 130 dollars, and that is remarkable. When you’re looking at a real with this amount of detail to it, you got a CNC machine spool, you got an all aluminum body.

They even put a rubber piece down here that you can replace when it gets beat up. So how many times do you have to buy a whole new reel just because it’s absolutely beat up from getting laid on the ground? This rubber piece can be replaced at any time. So if I had to take a bet, they were thinking about guides when they put this little rubber piece in because I don’t know how many times I’ve gone on a guided trip and you look at the bottom of their real and they’re all scuffed up from clients using them.

Well, that’s not going to be a problem with the BG, because you can replace that at any time. You want all right so I’m not going to keep you guys here too long, because I know you’re coming to a review to find out an honest opinion about the reel and really, whether or not you should buy it or not. So the final thing that I’m gonna say about the dial OBG.

The final thing that I like is its reputation now. This specific VG has only been out for about two and a half years, but the previous series, the black and gold series that dial we made. This is the remake of that exact reel and that B or that black Gold Series was around for thirty plus years in the saltwater industry, which is absolutely at estimated Iowa and just proved that they knew what they were doing when they made these reels and now I know what you’re thinking you’re thinking man should I buy the Daiwa BG or what you haven’t answered.

My question my primary question: while I was looking up reviews of the Daiwa BG, my answer is yes, you should buy the dial OBG if you’re, actually looking at a BG right now and you’re. Looking up this review of trying to decide what’s real, you want and the dial Abhijeet is on the list. Get the BG I been nothing but impressed with the real and I was earned.

My my business and I will be purchasing another diable product, sowed Iowa shoutouts to you, but yeah. You should buy the dial OBG and, if you’re, looking at a bunch of other reels, trust me I did the same thing in that hundred dollar price point range. If you’re looking to spend $100 on a spinning reel, then yes, you should definitely purchase the diabetes.

You made it all the way to the end of this video, you haven’t left a comment or like it, hey, if you guys did make it to the end of this video, make sure you guys support the channel, give it a thumbs up comment down below. If you have any questions or if you just think the BG is a badass real or if you’re gonna buy one and hey subscribe to the page for more alright peace, guys man, it’s hot out here, the things I do in the video.

Hey guys, it’s Josh over J and H. This is the Daiwa BGM cue, spinning around the 5000, sighs brand-new from died away. This was gonna, be released at ICAST 2020, but with coronavirus, no ICAST 2020, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t get all the good stuff to show you guys so again, the brand new BGM Q now this doesn’t replace the BG. This is in addition to this is a higher-end version, sort of a melding of the BG, with the salty go which is really cool. So the first thing that stands out is this monocle body right here you can see the circular rings right there and what that body design does means.

They can fit a much larger gear in here. So this has a really really massive zinc gear in here. That’s thick has a lot of teeth on it and it just generates a tremendous amount of power, just an incredible amount of power. So when you’re fighting fish, your jigging, you need to turn fish that kind of stuff. You can totally do with this reel. It’s built to be a powerhouse, all aluminum construction in terms of the body, the rotor is graphite, so it keeps the weight down comes in just fifteen point: three ounces: it’s got your regular Bale on there, your your solid wire bail, as opposed to an era, bail people, sometimes say all on their belts.

It’s it’s a higher-end feature. Well, what’s cool about this Bale and actually the designer of this reel in the previous version of this reel told me that this thing is just more rugged. So if you drop this, it’s not gonna break. You know if you drop an air bail as a chance to could break now. That’s why you’re gonna make a decision, but this really rugged- and that’s just one of the features that a lot of people don’t talk about manual trip on their drag system. Super-Powerful, 26, 4 pounds of drag at max super cliff.

You can set it wherever you want to go. Real is gonna hold about 230 yards of 30 pound test, braid super smooth, 7, ball bearings! This versions got the 5 7 to 1 gear ratio, and it just feels really good. It feels like an upgraded version of the BG and, if you’re a BG fan, which most you guys are cuz, the reels are just great and they work really well then you’re gonna love this version, especially if you’re doing any sort of near shore fishing even surf fishing. It’s actually you know a lot of people talk about maxi LeMat guy stuff.

This has no maxilla. This is all regular seals. So it’s sealed very much like a pen spin Fisher, so you can get a wet. It could take splashes all that kind of stuff. You don’t have to worry about it. Failing she’s gonna keep on going so for 220 bucks. You really are getting a lot for your money, so check it out. It’s the Daiwa bgm Q 5000 D – – H spinning reel and you can get yours at JH comm or on the JH app you.

  • Type: inshore spinning reel

Action today, I want to show you why I love the new cascading Megatron reel I recently picked up the new Megatron spinning reel from casting. We wanted a very versatile heavy-duty reel, especially when it comes to bigger fish in fresh or saltwater, such as pike, fast musky or in saltwater. When we’re talking tuna, bonito, halibut, flounder, all sorts of big game fish first thing I noticed about this reel that I loved was that the main frame of the reel is actually made out of aerospace aluminum, which makes it a very rigid reel.

It also has aluminum handle and aluminum spool and a giant bail wire to make sure when you fighting bigger fish or small fish. The body this is not gonna flex or break Megatron also comes with a braid ready spool, which means that you can use mono line or braided line, we’ll use braid. You need to have a special kind of spool so that under tension, the braid doesn’t actually spin on the spool itself, and this spool will prevent that because it’s braid ready, depending on the size reel you get you’ll, have up to 46 pounds of drag.

Not only do these pack a ton of drag, but it’s a triple disc carbon drag, which means very smooth drags when you’re fighting a big fish or you’re on light line from the fish pole shakes head, it’s gonna pull, drag smooth, meaning you’ll lose less shape. These reels come from 2 000 to 6 000 size and the biggest size holds 300 yards of 80 pound braided line. That means you could take that offshore. A really really large game fish to make sure that dragon everything’s running smooth this reel also comes with eight plus one bearings.

What that means as eight double shielded stainless steel bearings inside the reel and one anti reverse bearing so when you’re reeling in you stop that drag is set. You’re not gonna, have any backlash when you’re cranking you the number one reason why we love this new reel. So much is because of its extreme versatility and how heavy-duty this reel is to put this reel to the ultimate test. I recently took the smaller 3000 sides, offshore fishing for a bonito and yellowtail, and if you don’t know what a bonito is- it’s like member of the tuna family and is very very hard fighting fish.

We were able to land eight to ten pound bonito, which is insane for this size reel. We also have used this inshore, saltwater or halibut fishing and it handled that fantastic, and we also plan on doing lots of freshwater fast and pike and muskie fishing too. I hope that helped. I am always saltwater fishing in the inlet and creeks in the kayak, I’m using the 3000 series, real fishing for redfish, trout, flounder drum and sheep’s head. I was looking for a saltwater reel in my budget that would withstand weekly trips out on the water and had the strength to fight some big redfish. This cast king valiant eagle, 3000 spinning reel as smooth as butter.

The bearings the bail the drag are all super smooth and feel very high quality. It has water resistant construction that keeps out moisture and debris. I had previously bought my son a cast king sharky 3, spinning combo, for much less than I paid for my saint croix rod alone. I was so impressed with the function and feel of that setup that I found myself picking it up before my saint croix shimano spinning setup, which cost three times as much as I have in that cast king combo.

As soon as I picked it up, I knew I was going to have a cast king for myself after using cast king’s, very informative website to research. What would best suit my needs? I purchased this cast king valiant eagle 3000. I love that the spool is braid ready and the reel is very lightweight. The carbon fibers add strength, so this reel should be very structurally sound. The only thing I wish they would change is that the handle can’t be loosened to fold down.

It has to be unscrewed and removed with its shaft id, rather be able to loosen and collapse it instead of removing it. When I put it in a case for traveling, I still love it, and I feel I’ve got a far better product for about one-third of the price of my best reels of the same size and power ill look at cast king. Before I buy anything else now, I am going to check out their saltwater products next. This is a review for both 2000 and 1000 model.

The 2000 reel feels good, but it’s not as smooth as the 1000 reel of the same model that I also have still a pretty good reel. Also when reeling in a fish there’s some noticeable clicks, not the bait clicker that sounds like something inside is hitting something it’s not supposed to hit every few turns or so of the spool. I did not have this issue with the 1000 version of the valiant eagle the 2000 reel as, however, still a very good reel and handles fish.

What’s up Instagram how we doing it’s? What check in with you on this evening and see how things are going so first, things first wanted to say: hello and I wanted to talk about a fishing reel. Then I’ve been playing around with fur for some time now it is the Penn clash -. So basically, everybody doesn’t know. Fisherman’s headquarters is a pen warranty Center. We see lots of reels lots of problems, and you know we kind of just repair stuff and fix broken things and help people kind of get things back going so because of that I see some issues.

You know with with reels and kind of give some feedback to Penn and over the years with that kind of relationship that back and forth Penn has put me on their field test program. I’d, say it’s been about five years now, maybe six years feel tested the torque series. They came out with the the all-metal sir Friel, the Slammers, the SS V’s, should say the V eyes class to the original clash and number number of other rules.

So I just wanted to kind of share some things about this reel. I got it when did I get this real may 1st 2019. So it’s kind of a coincidence that it’s exactly a year ago today, so that’s pretty cool I, actually didn’t didn’t plan on that. I just actually pulled up this email from Justin who used to be in the field test program, and he just this is an email sent to me. Saying: hey here’s some realist, we’re gonna, send you! Let us know what you think so, basically, first and foremost for anybody doesn’t know about the class series for Penn.

The clash is some of their kind of light. Tackle not super high end, not super cheap. It’s kind of right in that mid-range price point right: around $200 250, it’s gonna be an all metal kind of kind of build, but there are some spots where they kind of reduce wait. So there are some reels that are all carbon and those rules would be like a strata from Shimano. Some of those reels would be like some.

Some dial was like the ballistic is, is one of them. One of their new ones would be the lluvias which is kind of brand new to the market. That would be, you know, kind of that. Those carbons that are much much lighter bodies which would be here much lighter rotors, and with that you know they they go up in price point and such but a lot of times those carbons have flex and with Flex, and you know, kind of some some higher drag pressures and braided line.

You start getting some some tweaking and some flex and what happens is you’ve got a main gear which is driven by the handle main gears in here circular would spin this way and you’ve got a pinion gear which drives the rotor, which is this way and the two pinion and this man gear this spins on mate and what happens is when there’s flex those two don’t align that nicely and what happens with the Flex is you’ll start to see some vibration somewhere and those gears that are that are kind of not say, aligned and you’ll get premature like a rough ride and reel and you’ll start to hear like a coffee, grinder sound, something like that.

So one of the things that was what I mentioned about this reel is it’s it’s an all-metal body and yes, some people like a lightweight reel, should have a carbon body and yeah there’s organs for that. But Penn decided to go with the all-metal body to keep it as strong as possible. Yeah there’s a little sacrifice and weight there, but this reel is for its size. It is pretty light. I, don’t know the exact weight numbers off the top.

My head, I can look up to this email that I got here originally as far as yard, capacities and weights and all that. But to me, that’s really not the important stuff. The important stuff is where two reels fail, and maybe some people are on here. I haven’t wrote the comments yet, but maybe some people are on here might say: hey I’ve had a spinning reel and I’ve had a real fail, and this was my problem and without seeing any of them, I mean feel free to fireman and say yeah I’ve had issues with this or this or this you know, feel free to reach out, say hey.

These are problems I’ve had, but I would be willing to bet that it was a line. Roller failure line, rollers right there, there’s a little bearing inside of that line roller and when you’re cranking line on. Obviously the line is always traveling over that roller being fed back on the spool, the lines wet and in salt water that salt kind of gets caked up in there there’s a little seam I.

Don’t really sure how good you can see that there’s little seam in there and that baron gets wet and then over time gets kind of crusty gets rusted eventual that bearing fails that’s a very, very common issue and that’s a common issue on a $20 reel. That’s a common issue on a thousand dollar spinning reel line rollers, definitely a very, very important little part of a reel that that you should keep track of.

If you haven’t serviced, you reel this winter and you’re kind of fishing this spring, or maybe you did service and you say: hey you want to give it a little bit of love drop a little bit of oil in there like light oil, three in one oil pen makes the oil you could use a little super lube just about anything, keep that line roller lubed and you should have good long range service. So that’s one failure point in a spinning reel.

Another failure point is the in Reverse, so an ER versus the clutch system that makes the reel stop when you kind of set the hook or if you’re jigging it’s this kind of back play that you would see in an older school reel that you don’t see anymore in the modern rules because they use what’s called a one-way clutch system, which is because of the design of a the use of a one one-way clutch roller, bearing also known as a needle bearing so that’s kind of like an anti reverse AR bearing sometimes you’ll, see like a CC for corrosion resistant or CR AR and reverse.

In kind of you know, in the in the specs of different reels. So those would be kind of two common places that I see reels fail and that could be any price point and reverses and line roller and I guess. I should dive into a little bit because I explained the line roller kind of what goes on while there’s water getting there and one of things with the inner verse system is that steel needle bearing it’s basically begging with these needles.

Inside of it? And there’s a shaft that runs through it and that shaft is actually your pinion and what happens is the the roller bearing allows the the turn or the spin of that part in one direction, but stops it in the other direction. So it gives you a the ability to turn, but when you want to set the hook when you want to retrieve line and then stop and jig, it stops that rotor from coming backwards.

The Euler system there is in spinning reels would be in dog a dog and ratchet system, which is very, very old-school. If you’re with the old BG series from diameter with, say the old Z series, even the old slammer SS serieses, those you’ll you’ll have a slap back, a slap slap slap slap as you retrieve and kind of give it. One of these. If you see here, this is a infinite and reverse.

There’s no section where there’s back play to slap slap back, that’s very common on on modern reels. It’s nothing special about this one. So, first and foremost, I just want to kind of poke into a couple spots here of reels and say: where drills fail. What problems will you see? I mean you buy a real today, you’re not buying it, expecting it to to fail, but the realization is reals break right, I mean everything in life you buy.

It eventually breaks if it’s not maintained and even if it is maintained, sometimes there’s a useful life and things fail so that needle bearing going back to that, which is steel, salt, steel, no good, you get some rust in there. So yes, there’s, there’s arguments: why don’t people use or why don’t real companies use a different style bearings at a different type of bearing and quantum for sometime used some some magnetic and reverses.

They also used some magnetic bails on their Boca series that was out and also the cabo series, which was out a few years back. It was a very, very popular real. It was one of the bestsellers for a long time. It was a great real without definitely really really good, real, the magnetic systems. To me, they worked great when they were new once you got some salt Duncan there, those magnets kind of work really standing up to what they were, but they kind of claim to do.

You still had some InterVarsity hours. Just thought: bail, fail failures, so I don’t know of any other reels that kind of jumped on that bandwagon and, as Matt just mentioned, he’s had a couple Cabos fail, so that was really the cabo and the Bocas and that’s from quantum that was really their their name to the game when they first started released. Those reels is that you’re, using these magnetic systems to jump ahead in technology and get away from some of these other failures, which would be the dog and ratchet, and also the one-way clutch steel needle Baron in Reverse system and the magnet just didn’t do it.

So it’s still to this day the dog and ratchet, is found in reels. What you’ll find is some reels actually use both systems, sometimes you’ll, hear of a dual and reverse system or a triple a nervous system. Triples most of the time would be in bigger game lever, drag reels, you’ll, see the use of two or three dogs I believe a vet, accurate I, know pen in the new internationals they use to even the old ones they use to and when I’m doing this weird little thing, there’s there’s two ratchets and dogs.

So when it goes around, it grabs in two points to distribute that load evenly if you’re going to add a third, it’s almost like a peace sign, you’d have two here and then one on the top in this circular gear. That would grab to give it a reverse. So what it is is if one fails there’s another backup, but that being said, most reels models today talk about from pen the battles, the fiercest the clash is the clash -, even the Slammers, the SSV is all of those reels use a steel needle baron.

You want to jump into, say, dial WA, you’ve got the BG, the ballistic I mean there’s so many so many reels, but the salt test. All those reels also use a steel needle baron. With that said, dial uses mag seal to seal off that bearing and to protect that, bearing that one-way clutch bearing and to prevent failure or water intrusion to the steel needle, bearing which steel, water, salt, corrosion, Ross failure, so just to to kind of give you a little lay of the land and some reels and what they’re doing I wanted to kind of describe that.

Hopefully, I didn’t go too far off topic of this reel, just wanted to kind of describe what companies are doing. What’s failing and kind of what you should expect. If you buy a reel and say you know, why should I spend $100? Why should I spend 200 or why should I spend 3, 4 or 500, and every system is is kind of a different price point, depending on the manufacturer and kind of what they feel that it’s it should be priced at.

So why don’t I jump back to this reel and describe a couple of things? The clash is a super super nice reel in the 2 to 250 price point personally, I, don’t thing you’re gonna find a better reel at that to 250 price point in this smaller light tackle game I think that dial, when they came out with the Back Bay series, was kind of in that same direction, kind of going at that same, you know kind of place.

That would be one of my other of reels. That I would suggest that would be kind of stamping against this I personally feel this reel is much much better than the strata just my opinion. I’m, not the biggest Shimano fan I’ve had any reverse failures, I’ve gear failures and that’s what pushed me away from shamone shamone is a great company. I love the stellas I love the Trinidad’s, the italic –is.

Also, you know you have to keep keep maintenance up on because they do have bearing issues as well. All reels are not bearing issues if you don’t take care of them, but personally in the more affordable line classes. The pen, in my opinion, makes a better dorba real and that hundred to two are on our price point. Max works. The shop he reached out said: oh, my god he’s a huge Shimano fan, I’m all about people that love Shimano, that’s cool, personally, I’m, not I.

Just had bad news with him and my personal opinion. My personal experiences kind of sway me in a different direction. Max would probably disagree. It would sway him in a different reaction. He fishes Yost radix and Saragosa sand. That’s cool Matt again reached out to you. Thank you I’m stoked here. He he was pushed away from Lana due to bad parts. Availability. That’s the other thing the pen really has going for him.

Is they like to offer that service? So when you have an issue, you can fix it. So let me dive into this real here. So the class series has always had the pen HT 100 drag. That’s a carb and drag nothing special. The old arils had carbon fiber drags hg 100 stands for heat temperature 100, it’s basically the rating of the drag material they use, which is carbon. What’s up Kevin thanks for the thumbs up, dude stoked you’re, jumping on the h2 100 drag washer is a phenomenal drag.

They use it in the Penn International Series for tuna and sharks and Marlin. It’s used in a bunch of them. Spinning reels. It’s stood the test of time for many years. Carbon drag washer is probably the best in terms of long range, service, heat kind of resistance, durability and even they’re, very good when they’re wet another drag material. That would be good was ceramic, not a lot of people use it anymore.

That was something that quantum also did with ceramic drag washers. It was kind of a fad and I, don’t know if anybody’s actually doing that now, maybe something out there knows, there’s reels made, you know made with ceramic drag washers, but hg1. Our drag washers are like the standard from penn they’ve done it for many years. The drag on this reel is phenomenal. It’s the same, drag that you could have gotten the class one.

So the class two same drag all right. That’s all covered. As far as the bail the bail is tubular. A tubular bail is, in my opinion, better than a wire bail. I, just feel that the transition that they can get with the bail here was sort of the wire. It’s not a wire tubular into this part of the bail which transitions in the line. Roller is much much smoother and streamline in here, and it might not seem like a big thing, but that’s one of the first things I look at it real to see how refined it is and you’ll see.

Cheap reels have a very wonky or bumpy transition here, where the line is always going to travel on this to find and see itself on the roller which is here so like I, said it’s one, a I really like to look on a real to see how refined that the machine was where the part is. You know when I’m first checking the real app so I, really like the tubular BLR I, like how it transitions into into the roller to me that that’s really sweet.

One of the advantages that the class 2 has is a seal here, I believe it’s called hydrophobic and that’s what max just put on there at the eyeballs. They use a hydrophobic bearing I mean they want to use fancy words. That’s cool, it’s basically a sealed bearing there’s a seal in here and it’s protecting that salt water from intruding absurd. Sorry, it’s protecting that bearing from saltwater intrusion that spots always getting wet, that’s where it needs to be pensall it they and they took action.

So it’s something that if you wanted to look at the pen clash, one pen clash to the two is gonna. Have this sealed sealed line roller bearing one other thing that the pen class qu has? Is the clutch armor? That’s the other part. I was talking about earlier just a few minutes ago about the a reverse roller bearing having potential problems in a lot of different spinning, real Branson series.

The clutch armor system is a sealed and your reverse roller, bearing it’s just like what dial was doing with the mag seal. It’s not Mexico, because Mexico is proprietary to dial WA, but it spends version of a sealed pinion bearing and that would be I shouldn’t reuse. The taraj pin your penny back well, there’s pinion bearings in the underside of the pinion, the clutch roller bearing is sealed and they use the kind of named clutch armor.

So it’s basically they’re kind of brand name or they’re kind of trademark. To that feature, and what that’s gonna do is it’s gonna, give you more durability on the clutch system, which is a very, very great spot where you want their ability? Your and reverse goes the reels basically shot. So, hopefully those two features right. There can tell you that this real, if you’re going to look for spinning rails in the to 250 price point.

This is one to definitely check out. There’s a couple other things there that that also might kind of get under the radar most, but what they is. They slowed the oscillation. So you know what oscillation is oscillation is when the spool travels up and down how much it throws from top to bottom. So, as I spin, this they’re real the rotor turns and what happens is the oscillation system which made up the oscillating gear? The cross-line block push the shaft up and push the shaft down which the spool rides on and that’s what travels up and down to give limelight.

If you take a look at this spool I didn’t just spool this. You can see it’s kind of low, it’s almost perfect. Hopefully you can see that I, don’t I could pull it back a little bit. But to me it’s almost flawless: this is the 3000 size, I believe yeah 3000 size, I got 20 pound Cortlandt master braid on here I’ve been fishing this, since last May, when I got it first, spooling I’ve never changed the line, and you can see it is perfect.

So what they’ve done is with the oscillation system. They have slowed, how fast that that spool travels top to bottom and what that is done is it gives the lime lay from it more of a radical crisscross like this, bring it down to something like this. So it’s more level and more kind of true throughout the top to bottom, and if you notice, even all the way up on the spool lip on the top of the spool and on the bottom of school, there’s no like random, drop-off and sometimes you’ll see that on a spool, the oscillation system is kind of out of wonk or whatever it is.

Sometimes you need a shim underneath the spool. Some certain rules need to be shimmed up a little bit to kind of level that line out. This is straight out of the box. Perfect line laid for me for my rod. I use a lamb, a glass Black Series. It is a 7320 I, believe it’s a seven foot, three I believe it’s half to one ounce. It’s an awesome reel the Black Series from from lambie’s top notch top quality for the price unbeatable, and this is kind of a real I put on and I’ve fished for last year, and a number of my customers have fished.

I’ve got two of these outfits, two to three thousand to those seventy three 20s and this what I fish a lot of bucktails on I catch, alby’s on them, catch a lot of striped bass and I’ve actually caught some pretty big blue fish on here, I’m, not sure who’s on here that might have charged me, but there might be some guys on here that I’ve actually fished this reel and and used it. If you have give me a thumbs up cool if you haven’t no sweat but one of yeah.

One of the things like this really stands, apart from its predecessors in the pen series, is that slow, oscillation and I don’t want to miss kind of represent that as a long cast spool, it’s not a long cast ball. It’s a standard spool! It’s just! They used that idea from the long cast, which is a slow oscillation into this series to better that line length. Now. What does that actually do for you? Okay, so when a cast takes place, a lot of the energy, a lot of the cast is dependent on the rod and the lure.

That’s all good and and and happy, but what happens is when you have a reel with a radical lime leg like this you’ll get more resistance when that line is deeper down the spool, because what happens is you’re getting more void in the actual base of line if your lines stacked up like cordwood, very, very nice and neat like it is here, you get a much better packing of line and when it casts it comes off in a much more organized fashion.

If you get it more radical like this, it’s almost like stacking cordwood up all gnarly, and then we have is a bunch of voids and one you don’t get as nice of a base or foundation of limelight and two I believe you can debate it argue or whatever you want to do. I believe you get more resistance on this lip of the spool when it’s coming off so I feel this slow oscillation helps with wind knots.

I can’t tell you one scenario or one story that I can remember having this on the past year and having wind up I grab this real I hand it to a customer. Samantha person is not a cast, sometimes their veteran anglers. I see all walks of life and I just kind of say flip that bale open and flip it out there once it hits the water flip the bail and start cranking and most time that plugs swimming or that bucktails kind of cruising in the current and customers catch fish.

I can’t remember one time, instead, of wit, not I’m, not saying it’s win that proof. There’s lots of other things to get in to win knots, which I think is maybe for another talk, but that this reel is definitely I. Have confidence in it hanging to anybody in, say here, foot bail, cast game on a couple of the features I really like about this reel other than those three very important things is obviously it’s super sleek.

It’s super stealthy I’m, a big fan of the the colorway, it’s kind of like that blacked out kind of midnight, kind of look to it. It to me look looks really sexy. It has a nice handle. You could kind of see. I got some salt caked up in there. I get these reels and I don’t take care of them. I’m not trying to have like longevity I’m trying to break these things. A lot of times actually had a brand new bra put it in saltwater when I first shot my boat, get it wet and I won’t wash the thing for weeks on end specifically didn’t say: hey pen, my thing corroded out in a month, because some customers get their stuff and they drop them in the water they put it in the gunnel rather than in another spot in the boat when they’re running and it’s getting wet all the time.

So my idea is why not, if I’m fuel test that why not try to trash it? If it’s a surf real, it’s getting salt, it’s getting sand on its first day out so you’ll see those reels got some kind of areas here being a year old kind of caked up in there I’m sure if I take the spool off cased up stuff here and there, but one thing: I really really liked about the reel is its drag range. I know, I mentioned the drag before, but I really like how much range it has and fine-tune ability and a lot of reels from pen have that.

But there are some reels in the marketplace that don’t have that fine-tuned ability, I hate, a real, is very radical where I want to give it a click or two and have just a little bit more little bit less drag tension. So to me it’s very, very fine. Tunable too, you know a very you know almost perfect for what I want, and that to me is very important if your fluke fish, and sometimes if your week, fishing and also fishing for false albacore I, think you want to drag the smooth and also fine tunable.

You definitely want a herky-jerky drag or drag that takes a lot of power at the Gecko to get turning and then alongside it becomes loose or smooth. One of the reasons for that smooth drag is like I mentioned the 80 to 100 drag washers, but it’s also this bearing here and you’ll, see that it’s actually pretty large, bearing not sure he can see that clearly. But a lot of girls have that bearing not all do but but most do, and if you take a look here, I, don’t I didn’t see it in the descriptions that pen put out this was a year ago, but also now with now that’s hitting the market and now that I’m allowed to share information about this reel.

If you look, it’s actually blue thought. You could tell that little that little shade. Ninety percent of time I see a blue shielded bearing it’s sealed, so I believe that’s a seal bearing and that’s great, because if you think about it, yeah this spools over top of it kind of giving it some splash protection, but nothing stopping water salts and from kind of getting up underneath that spool.

When it’s sitting down and getting that bearing wet and then, if you don’t see it, it’s kind of out of sight out of mind it corrodes up and and kind of Gunks up and goes bunk on you and you wonder why I have a herky-jerky drag or why you’re you? You know your first cast one session. Let’s say you you go out for a month, fishing it hard you take off a month and then you go back out in your first session.

First stitch Boop it pops! Well guess what the bearing locked up it got corroded. You know it’s sat around for a month. It froze up its rusted. First fish. You didn’t check your drag and pop it. You know your line broke, you kind of see here. It’s a classic, drag from pen super easy to fix super easy to replace you ever wanted to clean it. Replace it I just has a retaining ring. You could pull out that whole drag stack, drop, a new stack in there or you can take that stack out clean them up.

Put it back in you’ll. Also see on that drag. Cap has a seal, keep some of the gunk and grime so water out. It’s really not that important, but I think I might want to share it. A lot of people have issues putting their spools back on reels. So if you take a look, that’s keyed see how it’s like a square, and you see how this says a flat section to it. I’m, not sure if you can see it, but it’s got a flat section I’m, trying to turn it in the light here.

So you kind of tell but there’s a flat section. So sometimes customers buy dragged knob right. This is a dragon on part number 52, which we sell, tons of and they’ll buy and they’ll say: hey man, you sent me the wrong dragon, it doesn’t work. Well, in fact it is the right drag knob, but the problem is they don’t have a spool seated all the way, so one of the things I want to tell you is: if you do seat your drag, you want to put it on there.

You want to make sure it clicks right if it doesn’t click. That means that that little piece underneath there that that little clicker isn’t you know running on autos call it it’s click mechanism. If you run into the issue where you put it on, it, won’t click and it’s kind of being walking. It’s not sitting down. Super super simple fix. Take a look at this spool. Take a look at the stack and if you notice that they’re not all aligned and keyed right, you got to arrange them correctly and the way to do that is you grab your your shaft? That’s this on your reel and you plop it in there and you kind of do a little jingle and as it enters in it aligns all of those because you’re kind of turning it through them and now they’re all lined turn it around this way and voila every time it drops right on.

If it doesn’t, do it again, pull it off, get it aligned, drop it on a shoe back in the game. Never ever ever put this. This spools drag knob on without first turning this to make sure it’s clicking making sure it’s fully seated and also when you put it on. You always want to put this on in a loose fashion. You don’t ever want to cross thread which I might have just done. No, you don’t ever want to cross thread this, which is someone easing our drag.

Knob put it on. Sometimes you want to do a couple turns in Reverse, so it kind of comes off and jumps back into the spot, and then let it enter onto the threads and bring it down and also on the I. Never ever do is, is fully seat this into a lock position without first checking it in a lighter mode, so I kind of a Gaz I tweaked it I kind of turn. It and I feel that to drag slowly increasing and it’s properly seated and I’m, not one cross hurting things or two bending those drag washes if they weren’t seated it kind of bends amount of whack, two very, very common issues.

When one a customer buys a brand-new reel and puts the line on for themself and isn’t fully paying attention what they’re doing we’re not informed of what they’re doing just something to look out for so hopefully that helps a little bit. If you guys ask me, questions fire him over I see max is uh interacting some, so I appreciate that anybody doesn’t know max his main man at the shop.

He makes the keeps the dream alive makes it all happen. So thank you max for answering some questions. I didn’t want to get my head too far off topic, guys I’m worrying about this real well I’m, still rambling about this real one of the cool features. I like is the EBA knob I’m, not a fan of round knobs. Personally I realized that pinched kind of paddle- and this is e VA, which to me, is very, very comfortable.

It’s very light. It’s great when it’s cold, it’s great. When it’s wet and to me it’s lightweight, so you can’t beat it so yeah, that’s basically the clash – yeah. So this is the clash – just for Pat. This just came out recently. We should have them in stock this week, I shot a real, simple video, the other day when I got off the water, I’m- probably post out on YouTube here, maybe today or tomorrow.

So if you want to check that video out cool I’m, basically gonna say the same stuff, I just said now, this is probably actually little more in-depth, so I appreciate you guys, jump it on and following along RJ. The main difference between this and the slammer is. This is more of a light. Tackle real the slammer is gonna, be a more of a beefier, say, mid mid to to heavy spin tackle if you’re looking for a real, it’s gonna have a lot of seals.

The slammer is gonna have more seals than this. If you looking for a real it’s, it’s gonna have kind of more of a light, tackle approach. Let’s say a real for fluke: fishing for Mike, a striped bass, fishing, say albacore. Let’s not leave the guys out in the southeast, maybe their flounder fishing, maybe they’re. Looking for peppy drum speckled, trout, fish and small jigs, maybe it’s smaller snook and redfish.

You know, depending exactly what you guys are doing where you’re at this series, they like the 1 2 3 4000 series, is, is a gem for all that light, tackle stuff, I, think if you’re gonna say hey what would use the slammer for it, be the kind of the bigger game stuff or heavier tackle I’ve caught a ton of tog on this reel. I just want to see how these gears were hold up. I wouldn’t suggest this reel as like the quote-unquote table reel.

It’s held up great for me. I think the 4500 would be a better option from from the slammer slammer series, you can get a kind of beefier handle not as lightweight as this one, if I can all lumen them handle which which Tigers tend to bend, handles just kind of crank it and and and and lift and fish I think this slammer might be a better idea if you’re looking to jig tune and stuff like that, or even if you’re trying to surf fish would say, 9 10, 11 foot rod, but this thing is awesome for light tackle fishing, we’re talking, 10 15, 20, 30, pound braid fish and 10 12, pound mono stuff, like that.

So as far as the specs, if you want to get into the fancy stuff, I’d really mention it. This does have eight ball bearings and the one roller bearing which I mentioned the clutch and I think this holds like 200 yards of thirty pound I could look it up. It really doesn’t matter. You know. In all reality, I mean every real. Today’s data, fish and brain holds more enough lines so line capacity to me really.

Is it isn’t a concern? It’s all about those problem points that I mentioned and how a real addresses those problem points before you actually buy it. You know, say: hey I’ve had a problem with this this, and this will this reel, give me those problems in six months, one year, five years and that’s something that I’d really feel that this real does. It addresses a lot of those problem, points and kind of gives you a little somewhat of a easier mind going into the purchase of say a two to three hundred hour real.

This is 2 -, 250, – peon size, knowing that you’re gonna have that longevity. So once again, I got this last may fish the living hell out of it caught a bunch of tog, I’d, say tog up to stay reasonably like eight pounds. Maybe I had some bigger fish in that caught a bunch of alby’s on this bunch of school, striped bass and bluefish, mostly smaller blues I, can share a photo I’m sure I have it on my computer here somewhere like a 12 pound blue, maybe the 13 pound blue fish that had an Atari guy hooked it on this guy fishing a little plug one morning, we’re catching Schooley bass, big old Gator, blue kind of came up and eat this thing down and uh.

This thing held up great so once again brand-new reel from Penn. It’s the Penn clash, -, it’s a great role for inshore fishing. If you guys might check them out we’ll have a fisherman’s headquarters. They’re listed on our website right now, fisherman’s headquarters, comm go through the search bar type in clash, – should come up, you’ll see some features, you’ll go to buy them there and it seems to come in the will shift now to you.

If you do have questions on it feel free to reach out, if you don’t have questions on it and want to buy one awesome make it happen, will definitely get it – as soon as possible. If you’ve got some concerns with your existing reel, and maybe you want to upgrade awesome if you’ve got concerns with your reel and you don’t upgrade, you want to repair, it maybe buy a part. If it’s a pen, we can definitely help you out where a pen warranty Center.

We also do real service and we also sell pen real parts. So hopefully we can help you out once again to drag at fisherman’s headquarters. I’m gonna browse through here’s, here’s any questions and if there’s not maybe I’ll check out, maybe I’ll ramble about a couple other things. So what up ADIS? It’s awesome gear up, surf castings on here, sweet how we doing shear says 25 Parker for the wind yeah trying to try to upgrade as we speak here so cool.

It looks like most. His questions are answered, Allison the size, and this is the 3 000. This is the class to the new pen class series size, 3000, one thing I didn’t mention is there’s two sizes in this series that available in a high-speed you’ll, see there’s a red accent. This one doesn’t have it. This is the the sleek kind of standard, real that it’s gonna be blackened and gunmetal.

If you see the rules that have the red accents, those are the high-speed reels, the exact your ratio- I, don’t know, I can look it up for, if you want to know it would be. The 3000 HS has a 7 to 1 gear ratio where this one has a 6 2 to me, not that big of a deal. But if you want the red real awesome, got some little red red accents up here on the spool, it’s cool too real. This one did just fine for me and also the 4000 HS.

That’s also the seven to one the biggest size they make. This in is a five thousand, the small size they make. It is a 1000 once again is the 3000, so hopefully a couple those points I talked about kind of helped you with some issues that you commonly see with reels. If you didn’t catch that part, maybe you want to check it out. Do a little rewind, maybe watch it again. I’ll try my best to get this video onto YouTube for archival purposes, so you can look at it in the future.

Definitely had a little trouble with that. Sometimes instagrams good to me. Sometimes it’s not so, hopefully the fee, the audio and the video is good. Last time it wasn’t quite so good. So sorry about that couple things I want touch base on. Tog is closed. Tog closed at the end of April, today’s May, so hopefully those april showers bring May flowers and we start seeing some fish popping up with tog being closed.

We get a common kind of set of emails that say what the hell kind of fish. For now, if I’m a land-based angler, the strike was really haven’t, showed up in good numbers, yet I mean there’s still a good amount of schoolies in the bay really not much off the beach check in with a few friends that fish to meet regularly and they’re still struggling putting some time in there was one really nice fish that we know that have caught guys stopped the shop all time, I’m terrible names.

He works at Sonny’s recycling center. He got a nice fish the other day off the beach which was cool other than that the report I had was from Chris Messina, which I reported way back when, if you guys might travel officially report fishing, LBI comm I try to keep that up to date as possible. That is the fisherman’s headquarters, fishing report kind of location. If you wanted to call an answer, Fisher Park, that’s cool! Do me a favor first check out fishing LBI you’ll have names general locations, sort of some timelines of dates when this all went down chart put as much information there as possible.

Try to give you that information, so you can kind of see a trend, kind of see how a seasons progressing kind of see how certain areas are progressing, how certain species are arriving or leaving and I’ll. Let you guys kind of take that information and do what you do what you wish. Maybe you want kind of chase that report and kind of fish that same town that I reported because I stay away from the exact spot burns, or maybe you want to take that and and take it to the next level and use that information to say, hey.

How can I use that information to help me tomorrow or helped me next week, I noticed two weeks ago, there’s nothing going on here. I went a couple times. It was terrible. Well, he just reported a couple fish there. Maybe I should check it out, but maybe I should also look over here. These fish might be starting to stage up in a new area, so hopefully it helps you out. There’s also a number of other captains on there that provide some really really good information.

There’ll, be a fluke blog post. Coming up really soon the five W’s to early season, fluke fishing, the who, when where why, how that’s from Kevin Schmid from old Barty charters, awesome guy. He runs a light tackle charter out of Barnegat Light and he wrote this blog post that we’re gonna send live here soon, if you’re kind of fed up with the quarantine- and you want to do some reading- I just actually posted a blog yesterday.

It kind of took me a while to write something that was on my on my plate and I kinda put on the back burner or saw the things that popped up, which was something about the six things to do while stuck at home or something like that. Like six awesome stay at home projects, so hopefully you guys clean up your stuff. If you didn’t and you’re looking to kind of get into some fishing tackle, you know time burnin if you’re not braid officiate.

If your boats, not in or if you’re saying wait for the run to show up, don’t wait too long, because there’s plenty of fish here and there’s some really good fishing going on certain areas in the state, Raritan Bay would be one of them, but there’s also a lot of fish locally in certain areas, check out that fish report and definite point in the right direction. But yeah. If you want to read that blog, it’s up live you’ll talk about some rigs and based on that I’ve already got emails about guys, asking hey what kind of reader you tie.

How do you fluke fish? So that’s already one idea we have penciled in for a future. Instagram live and another thing was about replacing rusty, hooks now’s. The time you don’t want any while be playing around rusty hooks this month in May, some of the bigger breeders come around the big house and, if you’re going to lose that one fish or those two fish or those two bites, it could ruin your spring.

So I would strongly suggest getting your stuff in order now, if you haven’t to me, may 15th to June 1st is always that primetime season. When we really see the biggest fish here on LBI, we see him in the babe received in the inlet. We see Malone the surf I know there’s some guys that are already out there trolling looking for some fish along the beaches here of lb Isle Beach State, Park I have not heard any positive reports.

I can tell you our bunker boat does some gillnetting of dogfish and he actually has caught some big Gator blues recently. He was a little further off, wasn’t like on the beach, so I don’t want to sound like big Gator blues the beach I’m, not blowing that whistle just yet, but there were Gator blues, landed at the commercial dock in Barnegat Light two days ago. So if you want to start looking for him, I would say now’s the time great news tomorrow, May 2nd Barnegat, Light, State Park.

The lighthouse parking lot will be open. It’s been closed for some time due to the pandemic and the closures. It’s definitely a great spot to look for tog too bad. It’s closed. You can go catch or at least if you want striped bass all spring all summer, all fall great spot to look for bluefish as well. If you’re looking to go, I would strongly suggest looking the efficient looking to fish, the outgoing tide alchemy ties you much much warmer than the incoming right.

Now. You probably should have right around 50 degree mark maybe 52 on the outgoing and you’ll probably have 48 to 50 on the incoming I expect these water temps to jump in the next couple days we got some sunny weather today was beautiful. Hopefully you guys got out an expiry that I kind of was roaming around about in and out of, town was gonna jump in for a surf and kind of got tied up with doing some other things, but definitely for sure.

Tomorrow, I’m gonna get some good surf in, and I’ll that’d be roaming around might might do a little fishin too so yeah I haven’t seen any questions come in shout to the South Lee Fred with the rusty hooks. No, no thank you for the comment now, but also do big thanks for jumping on last time. That was a cool interaction we had I know. A lot of people gave us some awesome feedback, yeah, absolutely bluefish, sure beer.

So you know I wish I could hit a thumbs up to that one I’m, not sure what I’m doing there, but I appreciate you guys, jumping on here once again clash two is gonna, be in stock any day. Now, if you want to check them out, we’ve got an official and headquarters. Probably this upcoming week. Hopefully you guys get out and fish and have it awesome time, there’s fish around and I strongly suggest getting out having some fun, but do me in a safe, safe way, there’s no need to kind of be irresponsible.

In this time, there’s too many people putting their lives at risk, but I don’t see anything wrong with getting out socially distancing and enjoying some time on the water doing it solo, getting some mental health, whether it’s check out the sunrise, making a few casts hop on the boat and join a nice day or fishing sunset or doing the night shift all night. So good luck to you guys this spring I’ve got any questions.

Have any problems, have the issues and need help feel free to reach out I love to help you see the roast of what lore would you recommend for Alko and Ty? The inland stripers? First and foremost, man I’d, be fishing a buck tail I’d fish, a 2 ounce buck tail on the outgoing tide. When it’s a swiss moving current fish, it’s slow and low. Everyone said well touch down on bottom. If you happen to hang up and lose one you’re fishing it a little bit too slow or the currents slowing down, you need to fish a lighter weight other than that I would throw an SP minnow or a popper.

Those are my three suggestions. If you want to throw a big metal and really reach out and get some distance and fish down deep, you could fish like a 3 or 4 ounce. Hopkins, just don’t put that on a noodle, 9 foot, plugging rod, three or four hours, Hopkins or well known for for cracking rods in half they’re, just big and they cast like brutes and when you load them up, they cast like rocket ships.

So it’s it’s that be something if you want to reach out a 2/3 ounce. Even four ounce Hopkins is a great lure. Another one I really really like is a cast master. The three ounce cast master also cast masters names for a reason things launched they reach out and they they have a really good swimming action in the water and they resemble a peanut bunker or shorter chubbier bait very well.

You can get them out good distance, they penetrate and get down, but when they start coming back up closer to you, you can really fish it much slower than most three ounce lures, because it’s wide it starts to plane up certain lures, a diamond jig yeah. You can, but you guys start fishing and quick when they start getting close. The Hopkins is, it might be a little bit better than the diamond jig, but the cast master I really like to use in the inlets fishing and slow shout-out to George Green.

He turned me on to fishing some big metals. He also turned me on to fishing some big needle fish in the inlet. So thank you to him. He definitely fished me under the table numerous times whether it’s night after night or a day after day he’s an old, salty feller got a ton of experience, fish out in Montauk and the South Shore Long Island and he’s fished LBI for got to be 50 years, so he’s a definitely old, salty guy that that’s fished, the hell out of the beaches and really really knows his stuff, and he turned me on to the cast master.

The 3-ounce, in particular, with a single buck tail hook. Sometimes I’ll put a jig strip on there, use the fish uncle Josh quark round there. If you want to give a little bigger presentation, but if you don’t want to you, don’t have to fish it officially straight up, just as it is so if that helps a little bit, and that question was to see LaRosa so stoked your ear acting man I saw you on a couple of videos.

You send some messages. So so thank you for that. I appreciate the questions. Stoked rob says: he’s hitting the this with some plug this week. Best luck to your brother, shout the Steve Jordan Knight strikes thanks buddy for writing that blog for us. He wants to check out a blog about the transition of spring Steve. George night strikes, surf casting, wrote an awesome awesome article for us.

You can find out fishing LBI calm about the transition from kind of winter to summer, that springtime transition and how things take place from the real small, lures and small fish to the bigger baits and bigger fish and how the fish show up and how the kind of things progress in springtime definitely big thumbs up to Southfield e fred, eighty pound fluorocarbon that bucktail perfect man.

That’s what I use I like fluorocarbons a little bit harder than a classic mono I, don’t use it because I think it’s invisible to the fish I use that in other applications, but in particular bluefish they’re, two feet: I personally, like fish and wire, just just personal opinion, I mean it. It works, but I don’t like fish and wire I like to step up to 80, pound fluoro and I, find it you can catch a fish or two.

If it gets, you changed up, you see it’s, it’s gnarled cut it and get that replaced thanks, Freddie I’m, looking forward to some some bad stick, stick that’d, be awesome! So I don’t see many questions coming in I, don’t want to kind of ramble and just go on and on but I appreciate you guys checking out the clash to. Hopefully you got some good information. Like I said I’ve spent a year fishing, this really beating the balls off it and it’s really held up well for me, I really have anything bad to say.

Gonna check them out got him well. We will have them this week. If you have questions, feel free to reach out give a call send a message. Have your night best luck, fishing.
