  • What. So kitty is rocking some new trekking. Poles that i got the black diamond. Distance flz the carbon fiber how do you. Like them so far. Superlight. Hey what’s up guys devin here with back country exposure we’re going to talk about trekking poles today but specifically the distance carbon flz. Poles from black diamond as I’ve gotten. Older i have really become to enjoy. Trekking poles as a great option to help. Me hike further and more comfortable in. The back country so let’s go ahead and talk about these carbon flz distance. Poles from black diamond because these. Are easily the most expensive pole that. I have ever owned as far as trekking poles are concerned now I’ve used a lot of different trekking poles over the years I’ve had black diamond poles I’ve had two sets of. Black diamond poles actually but not as. Expensive as these are i have they’re. Like trail series that are an aluminum pole which is a three-piece extendable. Pole where this is like their z. Breakdown type thing which I’ll show you. Here in a second and then I’ve used poles from perea outdoor products I’ve used poles from wild horn outfitters. Mountain smith’s a lot of different brands and essentially like trekking. Poles are all basically the same if you. Really think about it but there are certain aspects to a trekking pole that. Make them more comfortable or super. Lightweight and in this case this is a. Full carbon pole so what you’re looking. At is basically the entire shaft of the. Pole is carbon fiber this pole set comes. In at just under a pound total which is. Crazy lightweight and that’s something that i really like about these poles is I’ve been using them for the past several months they’re just so light and so easy to use that they. Make traveling with them really easy one. Of the things that i don’t necessarily like about this pole though is the fact that it is that like z shape breakdown. Which I’ll go ahead and show you right now let me lower this down push this button in so. Essentially the pole breaks down in this. Since so it makes it a really small. Package to be able to put in your backpack and such but if I’m using this. For a tarp type situation where i am. Setting up a shelter using trekking. Poles then i don’t have as much versatility in being able to drop one. End of the tarp by lowering the length. Or shortening the length of the pole like i can with those 3-piece poles like. The wild horn outfitters ones or like. The other black diamond trail series. That i have so something to think about when you are considering but if you’re using a pole like this it’s super lightweight to just hike fast really quick distances which essentially this. Distance series from black diamond is. Meant more for that type of setting but. Such a lightweight pole that it’s nice to have on the trail for any type of. Activity that you’re doing now this does. Have this classic black diamond flick. Lock system to it so if i push that open. Then I’m able to extend this to the different lengths that i have so this pole happens to be the 105 to the 120. Centimeter they do have a shorter one. Then this and then also a longer one than this looking at the top of the pole you’ve got a molded evie a foam and i do. Really like that they put these cutouts. Into the foam so this makes it so it breathes really well on your. Hand so that you’ve got not sweaty hands. Every time that you are hiking but let. Me explain one thing that i do not like about this pole in particular I’m not a. Huge fan of black diamonds system right here where they’ve got this. Piece of cordage around through the. Inside of the pole now base typically what this does is when i stick. My hand through it allows for a little bit better articulation but i. Notice that right here on the top of my. Hand or where my thumb wraps around you i kind of digs in and because this. Is sewn right here it could just be how. I have it set right now but the fact that like that is right on where my hand. Rubs and where I’m trying to push down it does cause a little bit of pain and. Discomfort right on my hand so if i. Was using the pole just like this let’s. See if i came down in this manner which is not the recommended way of using. A trekking pole then it would be more comfortable but coming up through and utilizing the strap around your wrist to. Effectively put the weight on the pole. This type of sit setup with this strap. Is not ideal i do like how I’ve seen on. A bunch of other poles even like leki poles and the mountain smith wands lots. Of different brands this strap will. Attach onto the inside and kind of come. Over top of itself instead of wrapping around a piece of cordage in for a pole that’s almost $200 in price that is. Something that can be kind of frustrating so if we take a look on the bottom end of the pole they do have a. Carbide tip on here and you have the. Option as well with what comes with the pole to be able to switch out this tip to just like kind of standard rubber. Tip but the carbide tip is pretty. Standard for any kind of trekking pole and then with the fact that they break. Down into such a small package is a really cool thing so I’m going to show you this one more time you guys are probably familiar with this and other types of poles but black diamond basically are the brand that. Revolutionized what trekking poles are. Capable of doing and really good designs. The flick lock is one of their. Cool things so really small package and. Then to extend it and set it up you. Basically drop those together and then. Slide this top tube down and that gives. You your rigid pull so again a full. Carbon fiber pull really lightweight the. Pair is just under a pound like i mentioned before i am a little concerned about how this button is gonna hold up. Over time against the carbon fiber but. It should be okay the other carbon fiber pulls that i had been from fox tele and. That pole actually ended up breaking. Which was pretty unfortunate but there’s. A good amount of flex in there, but they are super strong and have a lot of like. Trust in them and they’re just a great. Pole in general I’m rambling at this. Point but should somebody spend a. A Hundred and eighty dollars on this pole that’s totally up to you could get away with other types of. Carbon poles, but they are super lightweight and i think that black diamond really has a great product here well guys so that is the carbon flz. Distance poles from black diamond these. Things are awesome if you want to spend a hundred and eighty dollars on a set of trekking poles definitely check these out obviously there are other options out there but i think this is a great one to look at so thank you so much for watching guys I’m gonna head back out on the trail and get on hiking and as. Always please subscribe to the channel i. Hope you guys have an awesome day.

These are the women’s black diamond distance flz poles, and they’ve been a favorite among trail runners and lightweight enthusiasts for years they. Travel easily with you because of the foldable design they’re aluminum so. They’ll last a long time and the rapid deployment system means setup is fast and folding them back down as a breeze. The z poles get their name because they. Fold down into a z pattern that’s perfect for storing on your pack if you encounter a steep incline or for packing. Down into your travel luggage they fold. Down smaller than traditional trekking. Poles and they save weight because less material is used in each chef section. Setting them up is easy because a black diamonds rapid deployment system the. Internal cord connects all sections. Together and once it’s tensioned the poles are stable just grab the grip and. The first shaft section and then pull. Then away from each other the pole snaps. Into place with the slide lock here you. Will see a locked and an unlocked icon. To fold them down just pull up on the. Slide lock with one hand and push the. First section back towards the grip this. Action loosens the internal cord so you. Can fold down all the sections you can. Set these up on the run because of the speed cone design which guides the. Sections into place at each joint the fl. In the name stands for flick lock this external lock allows you to adjust the. Poles for the perfect fit the grip is. Made of a va foam i like foam grips because they’re lightweight, and they. Wick in the summer the top is rounded so you can palm it going downhill and for. Steep ascents the grip is extended so. You can grasp a lower spot without having to stop and make a height adjustment the lightweight straps adjust to your hand with the hook and loop closure now. Down at the bottom black diamond gives you versatility with the interchangeable tips you get a carbide tip and a non scarring. Rubber on the rubber tech tips are. Installed onto the poles in manufacturing but for most dirt trails. And in snow or ice i would use the carbide tips for the best traction the. Small attached basket here gives flotation in mud and has a little cutout. To secure the poles when they’re folded down there’s a little knot above the. Basket where you can attach zee pole snow baskets for use in winter those are. Sold separately they’re versatile for. Trail running traveling and hiking their the women’s black diamond distance flz poles call us with your. Questions or visit our store at bat. Country edge com subscribe to stay tuned. These are the black diamond distance carbon flz trekking poles these poles. Are perfect for ultralight thru-hikers adventure racers or anyone looking for a simple streamlined and pack able trekking. Pole they’ll give you the best of both worlds by providing a collapsible. Compact construction while also being adjustable and not fixed in length let’s. Take a closer look the distance carbon. Flz poles are made up of completely. Carbon shaft sections which lets them. Come in at an incredibly low weight. Among the three options the heaviest comes in just around 13 ounces for the. Pair and has a collapsed length of less. Then 16 inches he’s almost redefined light and fast in. Terms of trekking poles black diamond has beefed up these poles in some sections to address possible durability concerns each joint support has added. Reinforcement which gives it improved stiffness and overall durability they’ve. Also built up the locking mechanism. Section to offer increased durability i also really like how the black diamond. Pulls a deploy the z poles have this. Rapid deployment system based off of their tried-and-true avalanche probes which is super convenient for those of us who don’t really stop once we hit the. Trail these poles have a Kevlar concealed inner cord which connects to these speed cones basically you can just grab the top shaft section and pull it. Away from the handle and the poles will automatically align and marry up once you hear the click from the push button under the handle you know they’re good to go once the main shaft sections are. Aligned you’ve got a simple flick lock mechanism which gives you a comfortable adjustment range this is great for those. Folks who prefer a length that comes between a fixed length option you still. Get the lightweight but can tailor the poles for your preferences rather than. Being stuck at the bottom you’ve got a neat little tip design the poles come standard with a non scarring rubber tech. Tip but they also include a separate. Carbide tip which I’ve installed here the tip can easily be threaded on there for harder bite on trail surfaces along with. That you get a small performance basket with a little cutout that cutout is designed so that the poles can stay clipped together when they are collapsed. It’s great for keeping things from bouncing around awkwardly when the poles are strapped to your running pack or being stored away last but not least the. Grip at the top is made with evie a foam. And has some nice comfort features it has a mini extension so you can change and adjust your grip depending on the terrain you’re facing there’s a super light strap to take off some of that wrist stress and that strap can be. Adjusted with this velcro depending on your size or fit preference the evie a handle also has some cutaways which shed. Weight adds some texture and ergonomics to the overall structure this also beefs. Up the moisture management properties of. That soft foam grip overall the black. Diamond distance carbon flz is a pretty. Advanced system if you’re looking to do a big through hike or have some aspirations of adventure racing or ultra running these are definitely worth checking out thanks for watching if you. Just don’t grab on Tennessee not to want. To just fold it these are the black. Diamond ultra distance hiking poles. What’s left of one of them and that’s it. And the other one and i just managed to break this one hiking yesterday and i never imagined that I’d be able to do it this is the. Break that happened while i was hiking well first of all let me show you how they work, so they’re really a nifty little design little silver button you push here and that pulls collapse partway up into the. Handle and then you can open these two gaps, and they turn into one third there. Length and they’re extremely light because they’re carbon fiber to do, and so they’re really easy to use and the. Only thing you can’t do with these and with a metal poles you can adjust the lengths but after a while you get used to that and then lightweight makes it super easy to move them around quick and very low fatiguing nice comfortable grip. Handles i would love these poles use them for four five years ago yesterday for five years long time. Right here breeze that’s why it broke. Right there and that’s because there’s a hole for the button otherwise it’s a continuous tube so when you put enough stress on it won’t bend just snap and. Then it’s dead so i broke it here just. In order to be able to fold it up and put it on my backpack and carry it out but it’s just a word to the wise that. These carbon-fiber poles as great as they are they have limitations and i. Guess maybe I’ll go back to metal because if you fall down and this happens this pole is completely worthless and you will hike out without. It but don’t use it they’re super light right, but they’re super light yeah it’s a trade-off between what you want you know how much strength you need and whether how important it is that it never break versus the ease of use of. What’s the brand of this again black dynamic diamond okay reputable mate did. They have a model number on that particular one and it’s just called the ultra distance so to distance Agricola ultra distance equal pull this happens to be a 130 centimeter length difference. So it’s all right with your fiber. Hiking poles your hand is safe but the pole is broken i gotta get some new. Poles cool see out there. So it looks like okay. Alright guys so that was the black diamonds ultra distance poll and this. Thing is super lightweight and my dad mentioned it but this is crazy lightweight like you would even imagine how easy this thing is to move maneuver around he was just saying how when you’re hiking you can just go really quick with it and hold yourself up super. Easy so this is a great hiking pole just be careful when you’re falling and hey. You always know i always take the necessary precautions if you feel like you’re gonna fall and hurt yourself put the pool in the way and break the pole but you know these things are not. Indestructible but they are amazing, or they’re made for and that is for super lightweight hiking assistance so click. The link in the description I’ll give you guys a link to go buy the pole and if you use that link go support my channel I’ll bring you cooler videos and hit me up maybe we’ll go hiking some see you guys. You.

Designed with the ounce counting backpacker and trail runner in mind the. Black diamond distance flz poles are the. Perfect option when you want to move fast and light in the back country take a. Look at all the features that makes this pole so special the first thing that. Stands out to me without these poles is. The compact size so these are a. Collapsible pole meaning that the. Sections here don’t telescope down into one another they collapse down into that. Z pattern that gives them their name the. Fl in the naming stands for the flick. Locks so these are an adjustable pole. You’ve got black diamond flick locks here that are going to allow you to adjust the pole depending on what size. You have and we’ll talk about that later. But the first thing to do to set up the. Poles you’ve got a couple of different. Sections here in the pole you have your three shaft sections that have a central. Cord that run through those shaft sections these remind me of tent poles. In the way that they go into one another. So the first thing to do is just set those sections up you’ve got two. Sections at the top of this pole one of. Them is the piece that tensions the cord. On the inside so what you want to do is. Find the section underneath of this. Little grey part of the bottom of the. Top section of the pole and you want to pull those sections apart once you pull. Then apart far enough you’ll see a. Little blue line and a button that’s going to expose itself you’ll hear a. Positive click and then it’ll be set up. And that means that the cord on the inside is tensioned all the way and you. Have a very secure pole so i opened that. Up and you can see the button there. Exposed itself and from here you can. Adjust the pole so this top section of the poll is separate from. There you can adjust it up and down i have 125 centimeter poles in my hand. Here and they’re going to adjust from 105 centimeters all the way up to 125 so. This is a great option for someone who. Either doesn’t want fixed-length pose or. Knows that they’re going to adjust their poles in different ways this is perfect. For if you’re hiking on uneven terrain and you want to make quick adjustments or if your someone that is in between sizes on the fixed length poles and you. Really need to dial in that fit the. Black diamond flick locks couldn’t be any easier to use you just flick it open. With your thumb adjust it easily up and. Down and then flick it closed it doesn’t. Take a lot of force to open and close this lock but once the lever is closed. It is an extremely secure and tight seal. And you’re not gonna have to worry about your pole going anywhere so really great. Locks there, and they’re pretty lightweight as well so that keep the weight down for this ultra light pole. Moving up to the grips you have black. Diamonds foam grips these are non-slip grips so you have some texturing here in the top the thing. I really like about foam grips is in. Warmer weather if your hands are perspiring the foam works away sweat. Really well you can also use them in colder temperatures you don’t feel cold through the foam grips, and they as well. Work really well with gloves there’s. Some shaping to it and you even have a little extension below that grip so if you need to grab the pole at a lower. Spot you can and there’s a flat top to. This grip as well so you can palm the top of the pole if you need to but really easy to adjust and comfortable strap at the top is going to help take. That strain off of your wrists as you’re hiking these are aluminum poles so. You’ve got the durable of aluminum, but they’re also very lightweight so the different sizes of. This pole will weigh in at different weights, but they’re ultra lightweight. For having the feature of that locking mechanism moving down to the tip you. Have black diamonds tech tips so these. Are a little bit smaller diameter of a basket on this tip and it’s a really. Great feature that black diamond. Includes two sets of tips they include the carbide tips which give you really. Good traction on dirt and on trails on. Ice as well and they also include a. Replaceable rubber tip which is what i have on here now the rubber tip is great. On improved surfaces or harder surfaces. Where you don’t want the carbide tip to slip around and those tips are included. In a velcro strap the velcro strap that. Comes with the packaging has a small pocket in it and the extra set of tips. Are in that pocket when you want to break down the poles for that small pack. Size what i normally do is pull the two. Sections at the top apart a little bit just so i can get a thumb on that button and i can press that down then you undo. The other sections of the pole you can undo the lock as well. Make sure that’s compressed down all the way and you have your small pack size so. These are great for trail runners they’re lightweight enough that if. You’re running along and you need to throw them in your pack or something like that you can either run with them. Or put them in a pack for ounce counting. Backpackers these are great as well and with that feature of being able to adjust the pole these are a great option. For anyone who wants more stability in. The outdoors there the black diamond distance flz poles. You.

All right welcome to the first official gear review on the new channel and to. Kick it off we’re going to start with the black diamond women’s distance flz. Trekking pole so these z shaped. Collapsible trekking poles come in two sizes 95 to 110 which weigh 15 and a. Half ounces and 105 to 125 which are a. Little over a pound they also come with. Extra tips so you get the plastic tips. On them when they arrive and then a carbide tip which is in the packaging you’ll find a velcro strap around the poles when they arrive at your door so another really great feature with these poles is the grips and the wrist straps. The grips are moisture wicking and really comfortable and soft in the hand but firm enough for when you’re walking they won’t collapse on you and the wrist straps indicate right and left and have the velcro on them to tighten and loosen, so they can fit your wrist properly it’s. A feature that i have mixed reviews on until i try them out to be honest because i don’t often use the straps when i ski i go strapless and so. We’ll see how they are with hiking and. So to get these on the trail we’re going to go up to big meadows reservoir which is just below wolf creek pass, and we’ll. See how these things perform all right. So we’re on our hike on the lake big. Meadows reservoir just down the pass from wolf creek and decided to rain on. Is today but it’s still a gorgeous day a little bit of sleet a little bit of hail maybe some snow, but we have the pups. With us and our little dude. So the nice part about having these. Trekking poles they’re super lightweight which is a huge plus but the stability you get when you’re climbing uphill is huge and. Really good with it, so they’re firm their goods are in the ground and you have a nice little walk up with them it’s really nice so what i like most. About these poles is the compacted other. So the flip lock is really simple you. Flip it open you lock it tight and then there’s a button that you just press in and the poles collapse to about that big and then you simply detach and. What’s really cool is the basket simply. Clicks into itself these are nice and compact i can put them right in my pack. In the water bottle holder cuz on my pack that I’m using today there’s two bottle holders only one of them has my bottle but super compact and both fit in the holders which is really nice. You. In addition to the black diamond women’s trekking poles that I’m trying out today I’m also trying their dun wall hoodie I’m. Wearing a size medium and as you can tell it’s a fun purple color with two-tone maybe coral some of the fun. Features on this hoodie it’s it is a hoodie it has a nice comfortable hood that you can throw up if it gets windy or if you get a little chilly it’s been about 55 degrees today and so it’s a. Perfect layer for me top layer to be honest because if the wind is blowing a little bit suns going in and out and there was some rain it’s quick dry it’s 90% polyester so it dried relatively. Quickly even when the rain and sleet came through earlier this is the size. Medium it fits let’s see I’m like five 437. Pounds give or take and it fits me really well it’s really comfortable but. Substantial enough to keep me nice and warm when it you know the wind is blowing and the temperatures drop a little bit. So we just got back from our hike and i. Have to say both the black diamond trekking poles and don wall hoodie. Performed phenomenally well i was super. Comfortable in that hoodie it was quick drying as you saw in the video i went from rain and some sleet straight to. Sunshine and it wasn’t too warm it wasn’t too cold it was the perfect layer. For me to wear today and so yeah five. Stars all around for the hoodie and for the trekking poles they also performed. Great we had some downed trees some debris on the trail some good uphills and downhills and, and they worked really well again especially when having. The little guy on me some extra stability is always a plus and i did end. Up using the wrist straps and i really liked them they were adjustable and so i adjusted them to fit my wrist properly and it went really well i think I’m. Looking forward to trying out some blacker diamond gear in the future but if you like this stuff there’re some links below so you can check them out for yourself and then I’ll have some other reviews coming up some more trekking poles some really fun stuff coming up so subscribe below and thanks for checking out my first video there are some comments down there let me know what you think i tried to get in the field show you guys some in action shots. There’s some hard cuts i apologize for. That there was some barking dogs in the mix but give me your opinion let me know what you think if there are any products you want to hear more about put that down there too so thanks for stopping by and looking forward to y’all visiting again thanks.

The most wear and tear are reinforced like a double layer of fabric on the bottom and an extra durable material on. The corners of the frame this is a great. Option for long day hikes or quick. Overnight backpacking trips it’s the Gregory jade 38 litre women’s. Pack for the full specs and latest price. Click the link in the description subscribe to stay tuned and follow us. For the latest in outdoor gear great deals and trail knowledge we’re the gear. Specialists at back country edge awesome. Gear amazing service see you on the. Trail.

Ready for a weekend of backpacking or extended trips if you’re packing light. The Gregory jade 53 litre women’s pack. Is perfectly balanced between light. Weight features and all of those other. Features that you’re looking for organization and a pack that’s going to. Carry a heavy load comfortably now. Unlike extended trip packs where they’ve. Got heavy features this has really. Stripped-down features lightweight materials those materials are also very durable and strong and the suspension. System here really gives you the ability. To carry the load so I’m going to turn the pack around and talk about the suspension system I’ve got Gregory’s cross flow dts suspension system and. Again it’s pretty lightweight it gives. You a lot of ventilation with this. Tension back panel you can see all of that mesh there and i can put my hand. Behind it so you know that you’ve got all the ventilation that you need behind the scenes there you can see a cross pattern for the frame that is a. Lightweight spring frame and what i like. About that is it gives the rigidity that you need in the pack to give stability and to transfer the weight of the load to your hips but it will move with you. Because it’s the cross pattern it will flex a little bit as you move so this pack doesn’t feel boxy it feels like as you move going up and down hill it’s. Going to move with you and then you as well. Have behind the scenes a hdpe frame sheet that gives rigidity to but it’s. Nice and lightweight now you have a va. Foam where you need it there on the lumbar pad it’s a really comfortable lumbar pad and then behind the shoulder. Straps you have die cut foam that foam. Keeps you comfortable and unlike lightweight or ultra light. Weight backpacks this foam gives you plenty of cushioning so really. Comfortable cushioning on the shoulders and a lot of cushioning on the hip belt and the hip belt does have a little bit of rigidity to it too so it definitely carries the load well now. Obviously you’ve got your load lifter straps up here that give you some adjust ability this comes in three different sizes so you can’t actually adjust the harness up and down but you. Can use the those load lifters to dial in the fit and just choose the. Particular size that’s right for your. Torso in addition to the adjust ability. There you do have an adjustable sternum straps you can move that up and down. While I’m on the back of the pack you do have a hydration sleeve inside the pack. You can route the hydration hose out through the middle here and you even. Have a little catch here for the hose on. This side now the hydration system itself isn’t included, but they do give. You this smaller pack this can be hung. Inside of the backpack as the sleeve for. Your hydration system but you can as well. Take it out and use it as a summit pack you’ve got really lightweight and stretchy straps here so those are comfortable the material here is nice. And lightweight so it doesn’t add a lot of weight to the actual pack but you can use this as a day pack if you’re just. Summoning a peak you can use this to. Take some stuff with you or if you’re traveling and you’re just going out for the day that you can throw some essentials in this pack there’s daisy chain attachments on the front a small zippered pocket there on. That pack so it’s a really nice feature. That again doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pack that adds a lot of value the. Pockets and organization are streamlined. And simple but it gives you all the. Organization you need on the front of the hip belt you have nice big pockets i. Can see these accommodating any size smartphone you can see this mesh pocket. Here stretches out really big you could put a small camera in there or something like that so really good size pockets. There and then on the lid you have the access into the. Back I’ve got a first aid kit in their so items you want to get your hands on quickly or lightweight items can be. Stored up there on the side of the pack. You have two very stretchy meshes pockets big enough to accommodate any size water. Bottle I’ve got a 32 ounce water bottle. In there and it fits well you’ve even got a compression strap on the front so you can compress that down and if you’re. Just going on an overnight or a short trip you’ve got compression straps all over this pack to make the load a little bit smaller you have a full-size lid here. And you can store lots of gear in there so then that gives you access into the. Body of the pack there’s even a small hidden pocket back here and that’s a. Great feature for travel you’ve got really easy access into the top of the pack with a nice big opening that’s. Really easy to use and i found that this. Pull handle is really nice as well so there’re little attentions to detail make. A big difference it’s all the access you need into that big pocket then you do. Have access in a couple more areas so. Something i really appreciate about this pack you have a nice big u-shaped zipper. Here where you can access all the gear. That you need that’s in the middle of your pack it’s tucked away back here so. It doesn’t add a lot of weight to the pack but as you can see i can open that. Up nice and wide almost like a piece of luggage and get to all the gear that’s in the middle of the pack so i can grab for whatever i need if you’re traveling. With this pack taking it overseas you can use it like that so really nice almost hidden pocket there. And then down on the bottom you have access into a sleeping bag compartment down there these zipper poles are so. Easy to use, and they make it nice and easy to get to the bottom now there is a. Divider in between the bottom and the. Middle of the pack but you can tuck that away if you need full access into the whole pack now also behind the scenes there is a. Hidden rain cover the rain cover is. Custom fit for the pack and it’s in its own designated pocket right here so rain cover matches the pack and it. Adds a lot of value so you don’t have to purchase a separate rain cover in the. Front a nice stretchy dump pocket too and then as you can see all over the. Front of this pack you’ve got two loops you’ve got straps here that you can. Attach a sleeping pad this is actually removable and you’ve got trekking pole bungees up here so there’s plenty of. Features here you can use this pack in a lot of different ways but all of those. Features don’t add a lot of weight to the pack, but they add a lot of organization and with all the features that you get here it’s a really great value it would work in a lot of. Different situations from a quick overnight to a weekend to traveling overseas it’s the Gregory jade 53 women’s. Backpack. You.

  • Welcome back to maaske back outdoor. Adventures today I’m up here in southern appalachian outdoors and picking south carolina guess the marty fields owner of. The shop and a good friend of mine so today we’re going to be finishing up our review on the Gregory salad 24-day packs. And what we’re going to do is go through some of the pros and cons of this pack I’ll tell you right up front I’m very few very little wrong with this pack i really liked it well, and we’ll start out. By going through what i carry and why and get this done trumped any minute all. Right welcome back guys. Let’s talk about what i liked about this pack have you several tax with. The Gregory for a day pack. I found that i can carry anything over. And above what i normally carry which is in excess and so in some people’s mind. When it comes with date hiking will. Start by showing you what i carry this. Pack is ready to measure for 24 liters. Which i found to be pretty accurate the. 24 liters is way bigger than you. Really need to day hike but it really allowed me to carry the essentials and what i mean by that is I’m kind of like. Self-preservation if i get out we get out in the back country i like to have things and be prepared for pretty much anything if i get stuck there i want to know that i can survive no matter what. Kind of conditions are there are so hey we’ll start by showing you this i carry my fire kit everywhere every time i go. On they would consist with some fire-making materials here i carry a pin or any logbooks i might. Run across on the trail they’re lighter that’s actually a butane powered jet. Lighter very reliable. And might go to item ferrocerium rod. Found very few situations that i cannot. Start a fire with a ferrocerium run they’re very effective chuckle. Atwood if you’re familiar with bush crafting type skills this is excellent fire starting material it’s a just resin impregnated pine and what. That one is and of course another blade i carry. Believe you don’t have a knife here you do at home so anyway that pretty much. Covers my fire starting kit and that’s. In the center all right next item I’ve. Got here very accessible some d all. Right here protein this is nothing more than some turkey jerky great source of. Protein and energy out there on the front of course the amount of food you. Carry is going to be dictated obviously by how far and how long you’re going to be gone water filter and bag i use a. 64-ounce sawyer bag with my little mini filter excellent piece of equipment and. Stand by got to have a knife gotta have a good blade in the woods in my opinion. And i never go now that this is a more companion robust made out of 1095. Carbon steel one of the essentials these. Knives are great they’re very inexpensive one of my favorites actually. And you guys know I’m talking about here. Gotta have toilet paper well as my cook. Pot this one happens to be a little stanley this one actually came from. Walmart comes on very good piece of. Equipment $14 and my little go-the stove. And watch a review on that stove on a youtube channel as well this has two. Nesting cups which are very thick hard plastic which are lightweight but. Virtually indestructible, so we really like these you can cook in this we make. Hot tea coffee you name it can be dusted and next. First aid kit this one happens to be. Military in nature i have pretty much. Anything in here that short of a combat. Lifesaver yet you know we can treat any basically and kind of cut up into stitches i can’t do stitches but any. Minor injuries we can pretty much cover with that’s a whole nother review in its own, so we will get into that to be also state i can always carry my you. Know lovino hammock i can’t say that our. Camping that but i do have it just in. Case i find a little too big for the. Email to be staying multiple days on the. Trail of course my atlas straps for you know cordage always carry good cordage. With me and that’s for sure. Never know when you might need an extra. Flow in case it rains or whatnot and. Along with that express ox i like to. Carry my little small nikon binoculars with me i just like watching wildlife and of course you never know when you might need to see something far away so these are great these are little ten power great for the trail and of course. Flashlights got them a little tack light here I’m. Not really sure what brandi just says j5 tactical light i think i bought it online and one of the essentials to me. And score is having a bush craft type mindset i have my little grants poor’s. Brooks mini hatchet it’s absolutely one. Of my favorite tools i can pretty much do anything that i think i could do. With a knife with this tool for a. Hatchet this is razor sharp literally will shave you clean which is with a nice tool to be fine carving with it and. Split firewood with it just almost a. Necessity to me and of course i always. Carry a thousand milliliter water bottle at minimal this is the nalgene brand and. I could look at that’s it and you can. See on the bottom of the pack this pack has lasting points on the bottom for anything you might need and i just happen to carry by a little flex like a. Chair i need a place to fit anyway. Talking about the pack itself this seems. Excessive i know to most people as far as day hiking but it is my mom said that. With this equipment i can pretty much encounter anything i have the tools i need to build a shelter if i want you i have enough food i have fire making material i have a place to sleep in the hammock if i need to so i go prepare. Water filter you know this is. How i do it this is no right or wrong way to hike it’s just my way of doing it. One thing i like about this pack is this. Gregory sack is very lightweight I’m not. Sure what the spec says or we should. Look at but the pack itself is very lightweight it’s very well-made you know 24 litres. Is big enough to carry all of this stuff. And if you’re not a inclusive type day. Hiker like i am then you could fit. Clothing you can put anything you want to and this is how i do this offer he. Comes with a mesh suspension system that. They call their free span it was very. Nice i found that on the trail it kept. My back nice and cool even when you know. Going up strenuous steep sections of the trail i found it very nice the pack was. Very comfortable it fit well oh I’m 511. I weigh about 220 I’m kind of short. Waisted myself so this particular pack. Fit me very well i believe this one here. This is the men’s. Okay i believe it’s just a one-size-fits-all in the day pack but i believe that this pack would fit the majority of you know your average guy say which that’s kind of what i am. So very nice bit i like how they have on. The waistband they have nice pockets here you can put a phone there if you. Choose anything small knife and on both. Sides which is nice also i like the top pack that pouch. Up there you know i put some of the essentials in it a lot of times i like to carry stuff that i want to get to you really quickly like my knife you know fair socks you know toilet paper is just. A small essential up there and of course. The main pack has had tons of room in. It how obvious if you can expand that you know it works very well it also is. Equipped with a hydro bladder you can. Fit a pretty significant water bladder. In here if you desire which is nice i. Particularly don’t carry them a lot of people do guys another thing i want to. Show you is here southern a select amount ors, or he carries a variety of. These packs this is another Gregory also this is a sailboat as well this one’s an. A team leader it’s a little smaller in volume same features it doesn’t have the. Expanded waist belt just because it’s. Not as you’re not going to carry in here as much weight on this type. This one is world. This is also a solo 24 men’s packed. Different color schemes the only difference about that’s actually pretty cool anyway either I’d have to say that i. Would give that Gregory packing nine out of ten and i think yes grid dating for. The money i think retail here at the store this is a 115 so good value if you. Look at other different brands you’ll find that’s very comfortable and actually maybe a little bit less expensive than some of the other brands as well same feature packed item nothing. I want to mention too is versus some of. The other packs that I’ve used as well this one has the five pouches that are. Actually big enough to fairly easily put. A thousand milliliter water ball in each side without compromising your internal. Space so i found that to be very nice as well yeah anyway this has been andy with. Mossy back outdoor adventures here at southern appalachian outdoors here picking south carolina right on main street can’t miss it combined steve marty and everybody here, and they’ll do you right i promise. Thinking the right pack can seem like a very overwhelming experience for a lot. Of reasons there are so many packs in the market it’s kind of hard to narrow down which one is right for you i like. To look at three things when I’m picking it back first what’s my purpose i want. To make sure if I’m doing day hikes overnight trips I’m using it as a carry-on that it fits that specific reason then it needs to fit me and fit. My body to make sure that it’s dispersing all the weight properly and finally i wanted to be as comfortable as it can be when i first moved to alaska. This was the pack that i picked up it was deuter future pro 34 litre sl which. Sl on the deuter brand is a pack line. That is designed specifically to fit a woman’s body daughter is a german based. Brand they’ve been in the backpacking industry for 110 years they have several. Lines of packs and what they pride. Themselves on is their air ventilation system their packs are equipped with. This lightweight mesh system that. According to the company keeps you from. Sweating it keeps your a cut your sweat down by about 25% now as i mentioned. It’s important for a pack to fit you properly and there are two main areas. Where that’s true. It’s important that your pack fit in. Your shoulders and in your waist because that’s where you’re going to be carrying the weight now this is the sl meaning. That it is designed specifically for women’s body so that’s a number of. Different features the waist belt is smaller than say a man’s pack to. Accommodate that women are oftentimes smaller you also have slimmer shoulder straps. And they carry in a different way and then you have a smaller wound mostly. Have smaller torsos and so the s outfits. Petite torso one of the things that i. Found that i like pack opposed to a lot of packs is i find that it’s really easy to tighten it and. It’s also really easy to reduce in so. Say you’re layering you put on a coat and you need to loosen it a little bit you just kind of flip these back or you. Take off that jacket and you need to tighten it a little bit more it’s able to do that there are a number of. Different features in this pack pockets. Galore which is what we always like to see on packs you’ve got this top pocket. Which is perfect for gear that you’re. Gonna want to access quite frequently then if you flip it open you actually. Have this sos card which gives you important sos survival advice which is. Kind of cool you also have this interior. Pocket on the lid which is designed to. Keep your valuables safe so i often put things in here that i don’t maybe want to access for the entire trip so keys my. Wallet my id anything like that. Now speaking of keys on the top lid the. Pack actually does come with a key chain that you can hook your keys to however i. Find that it’s not something that i use very frequently which also pockets on. The side i can put ear in there you got. These mesh pockets that hold water one. On either side and this side it also has. That gear pocket now this is a older. Model so it does have this front pocket. Which is an available on some of the newer models however all the models. Have this bottom compartment. That they call the sleeping bag compartment now if you take that out you. Can see it’s a separate compartment but you can also unzip it and it gives you access to the rest so you can use it away there’s a number of attachments. That come with deuter packs you can get attachments to carry ice picks or. Trekking poles as well there’s as well. These that you can attach carbines to. To carry other types beer with you. Whether it’s your coffee mug or something on the top one thing that i. Tend to use this pack for is carry-on. And also it’s a great overnight pack if you’re staying in like a hut or a cabin. So I’ve assembled some gear to kind of give you an idea of how much this 34. Liter pack and pull so i do have its. Hydration bladder compatible so i. Already have my 3 liter hydration bladder in there the hose goes through. The top out the back and then you can. Clip it with this velcro and you can. Actually remove it and clip it to either side whatever is more comfortable for you do we have that in there already. You’ve got our sleeping bag in the bottom we’re gonna throw in our thermos. Our jet boil. A pack of some extra layers you can see. It start to get a little bit tight. And finally every tooth throw in but a. Day and that’s worth food so you can see. That is tight at 34 liters is all of. That but we do still have room in the bottom, so we have a number of options we could stuff more stuff under there, or we can unzip it, and we can make it one large compartment now we talked about. Our lid without easy access exterior. Pocket this i tend to put things like a. Gps in satellite communication device. And always twitter paper now of course. There would be other odds and ends that you would probably carry with you and there is still room in here you have. Some room in our side pockets as well definitely could put headlamps lighters. Things like that other snacks um but. It’s starting to get a little bit full but you could definitely it’s a great weekend bag now one of my favorite features of this pack is the rain cover. So say it starts to sprinkle a little bit outside you just unzip the bottom. Pull out the rain cover that’s actually. Attached by a clip pull it. Over your pack it fits perfectly. And you are ready to go sprinkle stop. It’s easy to take off one thing i really. Like is placement i like that it’s at. The very bottom and i also really like. That it has a clip say you’re doing a little bit of bushwhacking you’re crawling with your branches or things on a rough trail it just touches and rips. Off which it had happened before it’s. Still connected so it seems like you don’t quite use it this often then you. Just back it back in the big shot. And you are good to go now as i. Mentioned i would say that this is the perfect pack for say a weekend trip if. You’re staying in a cabin if you’re staying in the hot it’s perfect for day trips where you need a little bit of extra space it’s not necessarily the. Perfect just day pack with friends. Because it is a little bit heavy at. Almost 4 pounds so you probably wouldn’t want to carry that if you didn’t need to however it was the very first pack that i owned and i used it exclusively for. About three years before picking up some. Other packs some smaller packs and some bigger packs and now i find that i use this exclusively for day trip activity. So berry picking or fishing are the. Primary uses that i use it for but i do. Enjoy the deuter brand i like the slim. Fit the sle for women i think it fits me. Very well and i have other women friends that it fits as well and i would. Definitely recommend and ain’t your. Local store and trying it out. And seeing if it’s the right back for you.

Telescoping pole where all the segments kind of go inside of each other and telescope down this is truly a collapsible pole so as you can see there. Is a central cord that runs through each. Of the sections here and it’s very durable but once you set the pole up the. The pole is very strong so again the. Collapsible length collapses down really small easy to throw in your pack in your. Luggage if you’re traveling if you’re not using the poles during a particular. Part of your hike you can either lash them to the outside or just throw them right inside the pack so setup is it’s. Pretty simple once you get the hang of it again you have that central cord that. Runs through the sections and the first. Think i do is i attach the sections it. Almost reminds me of the way a tent pole is structured so each of the segments. Lock inside of each other and the second. Think you want to do is find the two. Separate sections here up towards the top of the pole you want to. Separate them and once you have pulled. Then far enough you will hear a positive click and a little button will make itself known they’re the first couple. Times you do it might feel like you have to pull on that a little bit harder than you would like but that’s just to get a very secure hold so once i do that. I pull it. And you have a positive click now all of. The pole sections are securely connected. To one another this is an adjustable. Pole so unlike some other collapsible. Lightweight poles like this it’s not. Fixed length you can definitely adjust. From 100 centimeters all the way up to. 120 so you do have a lot of versatility. With this pole and you don’t have to. Worry about not getting the correct fit. For your height to adjust the pole right. Now i have it set at its lowest usable length which is 100 centimeters but it’s. Really easy to adjust with leakey speed. Lock so in order to adjust it all you. Have to do is open the lock adjust it to. Your preferred height I’m gonna adjust it all the way up to 120 centimeters and. When you do that it just it stops here at the top so you know you’re at its highest point and then close the lock. With your thumb it’s as easy as that there’s no twisting no turning it’s just. Open and closed leakey uses their argon. Grips for this pole which is a really. High-quality argon ama comfortable. Handle they definitely don’t skimp there. So really great handle on there and. You’ve got a an extended grip here so if. You want to grip the pole at a different. Height while you’re hiking you don’t have to make those minor adjustments you don’t have to make the adjustments as often if you know just want to grab. The pole at a different height along. With that and on the air gan grip you have an egg-shaped top so if you want to. Have your hand on top of the pole you want to palm the pole it really fits. Nicely into the palm of your hand and has some dimpling there and some resistance so it’s really easy to grip the top you also have a really. Soft nice woven strap here and it’s. Really easy to adjust for your height take the pressure off of your wrists. With a strap so to adjust this all you. Do is pull up on the top portion of the. Strap you can make it longer or shorter. And then just pull down on the top and. It locks in it’s a really comfortable lightweight soft straps they’re going. Down to the tip of the trekking pole leakey uses their carbide flex tips and what this means is that there is a. Carbide end it’s very durable it’s the part that comes into contact with the ground and gives you traction and it. Does come standard with a small performance basket so this is you know definitely a lightweight design come standard on this type of pole but if you. Want to use one of like use other snow. Baskets this is removable so you can. Screw that off and put a bigger basket. On if you choose the important thing to. Now about the carbide flex tips by. Leakey is that this section of the pole in the unlikely event that your pole. Gets stuck between rocks or is put in a position that might seriously damage. Your trekking pole this part is meant to. Break away first it’s a lot easier to. Replace the trekking pole tip than it is. To replace your trekking poles altogether so this is a replaceable part. It’s also helpful to know that you know. If you use your poles for many years and you do want to replace the tips this is a replaceable part and you. Can get a replacement for it. Leakey does include a lightweight stuff. Sack so when you collapse your poles down you can store them safely inside this is really convenient for travel or. Just for storage all in all this is a. Really great multifunctional pole you’ve. Got that durable aluminum cans struction the collapsible lengths of the. Poles makes them easy for travel and you’ve just got a lot of features all in. One pole it is the leakey micro vario ti. Core tech lady trekking poles.

These are the lakey women’s micro vario core tech ta trekking poles they fold. Down for easy travel and are versatile. For hiking backpacking and trail running if you’ve used hiking poles in the past. But thought they were cumbersome or if. You’re ready to upgrade to high end lighter weight poles these could be the perfect option for you let’s check them. Our first i want to show how easy they. Are to set up your goal here is to put. The segments together and tighten the central cord so all sections are firmly. Connected it’s important to notice two. Mechanisms this is like ease speed lock lever and it makes height adjustments to. The poles and this is the lake ya’s pld. Push button locking device that holds. The sections together once they’re set up you won’t see this button until all. Sections are locked into place okay from. A folded position hold the grip and let. The other pieces hang be sure the speed. Lock is closed and find the pole section. That is concealed in the upper segment pull down on that section to reveal it. You can put the two lower sections. Together one by one or you can set them. Up all in one motion because they will slide together as you pull down on that concealed section you will know the. Central cord is fully tensioned when you hear the distinctive click and see the. Silver button the first few times you. Try it you may need to tug a little harder than you think you should the whole process looks like this. Now you’re ready to make the height. Adjustments with the external lock just open the lever with your thumb adjust to. The preferred height and push it closed I’m five six and i use poles at about. 115 centimeters these are women’s. Specific poles so the adjustment range is perfect for me laiki made it super easy to fold back. Down this silver button loosens that. Central cord so you can fold them again i find it helpful to tug these two. Sections apart to make it easier to press the button to conceal that first shaft section back up into the grip now. That cord is loosened so you can fold. The two lower sections if the length is. Still set to what it was while you were hiking just lower it to the bottom and store them in the carry bag the shaft sections. Are made of aluminum for durability the. Kortek grip at the top is ergonomic and. Has a lot more shape than most of the. Lightweight folding trekking poles I’ve seen on the market these are called the aragon compact grips, and they’re sized. For smaller hands the egg-shaped top is. Perfect for palming when going downhill and the extended length means you do not. Have to make time-consuming adjustments to the height while going uphill the strap is adjustable and soft on your. Hands the small trekking basket is for. Summer use but can be replaced with a snow basket if the weather calls for it those are sold separately the tip is incredibly durable and gives reliable. Traction on any surface this portion of. The tip has a bit of flex that’s why. It’s called the carbide flex tip so if it gets jammed in between two rocks it will bend and flex first to save the. Upper shaft sections from breakage it’s a rare instance but the tip is fully. Replaceable so should you need a new one. The cost of a new tip is nominal compared to a new set of poles that. Makes these a perfect option for avid hikers backpackers and trail runners there the leakey women’s micro vario. Tech t a trekking poles call us with. Your questions or visit our store at. • We’re taking a look at the leakey micro vario carbon dss anti-shock trekking. Poles these are an extremely collapsible. Ultra lightweight trekking poles that. Are perfect for your owns counting backpackers travelers who are looking. For trekking poles that really collapse down into luggage and people who are looking for a lightweight pair of trekking poles that don’t skimp on any. Features so these are fully featured. Poles the first thing i want to point out here about these poles is they actually do have a shock absorber at the. Bottom so the dss in the naming here it. Stands for a dynamic suspension system lake ease put a lot of research and. Development into this feature and there’s an elastomer here at the bottom. Close to the point of impact of the. Ground it’s lightweight and it’s extremely durable so it’s not going to. Wear out over a long period of time and the basic function of this shock absorber is really to take out that vibration that you feel through the trekking pole when you’re hiking for long days long miles on the trail. Sometimes that vibration that comes. Through the pole can irritate your wrists your elbows your shoulders and. This just dampens that vibration the. Other standout feature of these poles is that they are extremely collapsible and the way leakey achieves this is by. Having a very durable cord that runs through all shaft sections of these. Poles and they go together almost like. Tent poles they remind me of the way tent poles are designed and then all you do in order to set them up is stretch. That out and it tensions the cord that’s. Inside and makes this very durable there’s a push button here that comes. Out once you’ve got everything set up you can hear that positive click and then you’ve got an extremely durable pole here so really great design now. This is a carbon fiber so each of these. Shaft sections are extremely lightweight perfect for those ounce can in backpackers and this does have an. Adjustable range these will adjust from. A hundred and ten centimeters all the. Way up to a hundred and thirty centimeters so fully-featured trekking. Pole here on those days where you may be. Climbing or descending and you really want to make quick adjustments it’s perfect you can also really just dial in the exact length of trekking poles that you. Need and this is lake ease speed lock. It’s an external lock it couldn’t be any easier to adjust basically you just. Flick it open with your thumb adjust it. To the proper height and then flick it closed and you’ve got a really secure lock while we’re up here on the grips. You do have an ergonomic leakey air gan. Grip there are thermo grips so you’ve got really comfortable foam here and the. Thing i really like about foam grips is they work well in all temperatures and in all seasons so in the summer if your. Hands begin to perspire this really. Wicks away sweat and you can keep a. Secure grip there with your hands but. Also in the winter this material works well with gloves you have an extended. Grip here so if you need to grip the pole at a different spot that’s really easy and then you have this egg-shaped top that’s really great for palming the. Top of the pole so a nice wide top there. And then obviously you’ve gotten adjustable straps they’re really comfortable they’re lightweight and you can adjust them to just take the strain. Off of your wrists as you’re hiking moving down the pole you have leki’s carbide flex tips it’s a very durable. Tip here and you have that carbide end. So that’s going to last a really long time and the thing that’s great about these tips is that they do flex a little. Bit if they’re put under a lot of pressure so let’s say they’re caught between two rocks it’s going to take the. Force away from the actual shaft sections of the poles and this tip is going to take most of that force so it’s going to protect the poll it’s going to last a long time and they are replaceable you do get just a narrow. Diameter basket here there is a thread. On the tips so you can take these. Baskets off and put a snow basket on. There if you need to so with all the features here you get a very lightweight set of poles with that carbon construction they’re extremely collapsible so they’re. Great for travel they’re great for those ounce counting backpackers who don’t want to skimp on any features you’ve got all the adjustability you need in a very comfortable grip they’re the leakey micro vario carbon dss anti-shock. Trekking poles. You.

These are the leakey micro vario black carbon trekking poles long distance. Through hikers will love these because the construction is reliable for daily use, but they come in at a competitively. Low weight these poles provide reliable. Stability on the trail for under 17. Ounces prepare a lot of ultra. Lightweight trekking poles achieve a much lower weight by skimping on features like an adjustable length a. Packable design and an ergonomic grip these poles however beautifully blend. The benefits of fully featured trekking poles with the benefits of a minimalist. Design the carbon fiber construction keeps the weight low the folding design. Is great for travel and the adjustable. Length means that they’ll fit most hikers perfectly there’s a durable. Central cord that runs through all. Sections once that is tensioned the. Sections are secured many collapsible poles have a similar cord but these have an internal spring. Below the hand grip to give that extra tension on the cord when they’re set up now to set them up attach all sections. Together and pull these two sections apart until you hear the clip and that. Means the cord is tensioned be sure the. Speed lock is secured down before you. Pull these two sections apart now the. Push-button lock system makes for quick assembly and especially quick packing. Away so to fold them down again just push the button to release the tension in the cord and collapse the poles down they even come with a storage bag for convenient travel the external speed. Lock two levers give a range of. Adjustability from 110 centimeters to. 130 centimeters to dial-in fit at the. Bottom durable carbide flex tips can. Bend up to 30 degrees without damaging. The lower pole sections you see this type of tip on a lot of lakey styles and. It’s a tried-and-true design small trekking baskets are included but. You can pick up larger diameter snow baskets separately for winter use leakey. Does not skimp on the grip an ergonomic. Angle puts your wrists at a natural. Position and the lightweight argon thermo foam is really comfortable the. Grip extends down the pole so you can grasp at a lower section when you’re hiking uphill and that saves you from stopping to adjust the poles the. Egg-shaped top is comfortable to palm. When going downhill and this strap is. Made of comfortable smooth fabric and adjust around your wrists now some folks. Ask us about the durability of carbon. Fiber carbon fiber is not as durable as. Aluminum when it comes to bumps and scrapes but all the common wear points are bolstered on these poles for example. Each carbon fiber section end is. Protected by a machined aluminum sleeve. And stainless steel connectors help to. Center those sections when setting up the poles you have more durable materials where it matters and lightweight materials where you want them leakey pulled out all the stops to. Deliver a fully featured yet lightweight. And collapsible design that is perfect for ultralight backpackers long distance. Through hikers and smart travelers they look pretty sleek too they’re the leakey micro vario black carbon trekking. Poles call us with your questions or. • Thinking the right pack can seem like a very overwhelming experience for a lot.

I’m jarred a–the daughter here the tahoe mountain sports talking about the future of pro 40 sl packs the future pro. Is slightly different from the future. Series so as you can see we’re going to have taller packs bigger packs we still. Use the spring steel framework so it’s. Going to allow for 25% less perspiration. By keeping the pack away from your back and letting a big airflow channel in there the spring steel is not like. Aluminum you’re going to be able to and its shape to do whatever and it’s always going to spring back to its original position like i said the future pro. Packs are going to be taller bigger, and they’re going to come with what we call our very flex hip belt the great flex. Hip belt does is that pivots so you can. Either tighten it down and lock it in or you can loosen it up and have that pit bull it’s really important to have that feature in our pro level packs when. You’re skiing when you’re hiking doing anything technical maybe climbing where you want your the bottom part of your body to work independently of your body. And you don’t want the whole weight of that pack swing so that very flex tip. Belt is a really nice feature more. Substantial in the hip belt as well it’s a bigger pack you’re going to be carrying more weight we want lumbar support and then because we have the. Real estate on the hip belt we’re actually giving you two front pockets along the hip belt as well so like i. Said a little bit of a different design here you’re gonna have a top loading pack instead of the features which are panel loading still hydration. Compatible with the nice extendable collar you do have the. Separate compartment whether it’s. Sleeping bag whether it’s wet clothes whether it’s bike stuff dirty clothes. Whatever you want to do you have that. Divided compartment with access back here but you can also zip out the compartment and make it one long tube if. That’s your hiking style or your packing style we do have trekking pole loops and of. Course the deuter you have your rain cover so you’re going to have rain integrated rain cover in the bottom of the pack it is attached but it is also removable so perfectly sized for this pack so that. You are you stay dry that is the future. Pro 40 sl I’m jared and you can check. These out at mountain sports.

Hey how’s it going guys got another backpack review for you thank you so much young’s backpacking for hosting this what you’re looking at here is the deuter future 0 4 t sl first off let’s. Start by saying that you can have the most expensive backpack in the world but if it doesn’t fit right you’re gonna be hating life just because the weights not gonna be distributed evenly it’s gonna be uncomfortable and you’re just not gonna want to wear the pack in the first place so what a bunch of female outdoor experts at dora did was they analyzed. Some differences between male and female anatomy, and they made packs that. Where specifically shaped for the female body normally for in terms of body shape. Men tend to have straight torsos whereas. Women tend to have a more hourglass. Shaped figure with wider hips and narrower shoulders and so this bag has. Been engineered to fit a woman’s torso. Which tends to also be shorter hence the name as sells for a short. Length I’m just gonna go over some of the features of this bag and hopefully he’ll give you an idea of whether you might want to get it for yourself or for your girlfriend or your wife so let’s start first off just start with. The suspension here what you got here is a nice well padded waist belt i like the. Fact that it has a hip belt pocket the boy is pretty good about putting the hip belt pockets on their waist belts if you’re gonna have a waist belt why not have a pocket it’s great it’s nice and sizable enough to stick change small items maybe a it’s a little bit small. Too small for a phone but anything small that you want to get to without having to take off the pack so it’s good give. You a look at the clasp at the front. Here. And you have nice padded shoulder straps. Not too thick but just enough to give it makes it comfortable and you have an adjustable sternum strap now for the sl. Version since it’s a made for the female anatomy they put the shoulder straps. A little bit closer together then on the standard version just because women tend to have narrower shoulders and wider hips and the waist belt has been angled let’s see if i can get the information card and give you a look at the picture. Here you’ll notice here the white would. Be the standard version so the white outline so as you can see the waist belt for a standard version kind of goes out straight whereas here on the orange the. Waist belt for the sl version kind of tilts up and that’s to make for the angular hip angle on a women’s backpack. Also even though this is listed as being. Mostly for women hence this little flower here this comes off by the way this is also recommended also for men. Who have a short torso as well so don’t think this is just for women if you’re a guy and you have a short torso this will work out just fine just take out the flower I’ll leave it doesn’t matter. This also boosts the deuter air comfort. System i talked about it on my own back pack the deuter future 42 basically what. You have here is two aluminum stays i don’t know if you can see it here these. Two stays that arch the back of the pack. Away from your body and then you have this mesh panel right here that your body rests against and this gives a nice little area right here for air to circulate so you’re doing it you don’t get sweaty back i was worried when i. First got my backpack that this mesh would rip or tear or break or whatever but actually after kicking around my bag for a good two years i haven’t had any problems so i trust it now so it’s pretty good and the aluminum. Stays they’re flexible they’re strong, but they’re flexible, so they can bend so really durable system so don’t worry that you’re getting a bag that’s gonna be comfortable but fall apart later this system has lasted me really. Well go into the side there are two. Compression straps you have a bottom compression strap and a top compression strap which you can also undo the top one with a clasp like so. The bottom one is fixed and then you. Have side mesh pocket on the other side as well it’s elastic and it’s pretty durable this mesh material you should. Look at the other side here like so going to the back of the panel back of. The bag there’s a top loading design so. You undo these two clasp you take the top off basically what top loader design. Is its just a main sack with a lid on. Top before i go to the main compartment let me just talk about the lid you have. A back access pocket for the live light here on the back and then when you open. Up the lid on the underneath side you. Have another access pocket right here. Going to the front of the bag you have. An elastic mesh pocket which you can also tighten with the top compression strap right here so in terms of storage. Space i think you could stick a helmet. Here but it’s gonna be kind of tight fit would have like this to be a little bit stretch here and a little bit more expansive for this mesh pocket just so i could stick in a lot of your helmet but for a bike helmet or anything around that size no problem whatsoever you can also stick like so you take off your mid layer your fleece you could just jam it in here without having to undo and get to the main part of the compartment of the pack going into the interior pocket oh by the. Way i love the fact that it’s using these bright colors it makes it easier for you to find your gear if you have a. Black kind of interior it makes it harder to find here but with this bright color any times you put inside are gonna stand out and i love that going into the interior of the bag you’ll notice you. Have a velcro loop attachment for attaching stuff and you have this inner. Back pocket for sticking a hydration bladder this bag is hydration compatible and if you look here on the sides you have a hole on one side here for the loop to go out and on the other side so you can have the hydration bladder going either from your left and right side without the loop hitting the back of your head i really like that it’s a nice touch and just. Give you a look here that’s basically it for the main compartment let me just. Close this guy up that’s about it pretty. Simple design a fair number of pockets. For powder storage and interior storage. Some gear separation in the lid and a very ergonomic design for a different. Frame sizes if you’re of a shorter frame. Size or if you are a woman and just want. Something that fits the contours of your body so it’s my little overview of the. Deuter future 0 40 sl thanks for watching guys and have a great day.

Hey guys tamir this is my daughter for. Tara pro 38 liter packs I’ve had this. Think for about a year now and i really liked it i figured it’s about time i did a review on it i remember. When i bought it the only review i could find was in german but it got me a good. Look at what the pack had to offer so i. Figured I’d put a decent English one. Up there in case anyone else is looking at any of the smaller dotter packs. I don’t think rei actually carries the. 38 anymore i got it online when i lived. In indiana so i couldn’t go to the store well last time i went i believe i saw. 3432 it was red so I’m not sure if this. One’s even still around but i like it a. Lot so I’m just going to show you guys really quickly a couple features on it is a top loading pack so i opened up. Here and expanse quite a bit very good. Amount for a pack this size gives you a. Lot more room to put stuff the top. Compartment does not come off but it. Does fit nicely over even if it’s completely full it has a pocket on the. Inside works really well and as well as. On the back it’s got a nice pocket here. Too. Having trouble with the zippers no yes the same time on the side here each side. Does have a side pocket that is fairly. Sizable i can fit a pair of flip-flops or something in their pretty easily i put a lot of miscellaneous things on the side pocket and like i said each side. Does have a side pocket. Once again these zippers work perfectly fine I’m just being a noob with my. Camera in my hands instead of on a tripod it’s got a lot of different areas. Where you can attach carbines i got a. Whistle there i tied my bandana up here. Great for a sweat rag sweaty guy like me. And a bunch of loops just to put. Then anywhere gives you space to hold. Extra things which i like a lot like. They have a lot of stuff on the outside of my pack down here you can access the. Included rain cover with this nice blue. Bad boy that fits very well onto the pack I’ve only had to use it once sort of work just fine when i used it. Though it was a light rain so i can’t attest to that too much. The last pocket of note is here it’s a. Math pocket and it’s really a map pack and it can’t hold too much because it goes back fairly far there but i. Usually just keep my maps in there as. Well as a compass down on the bottom you. Do have our sleeping bag compartment. And that opens up and right now i have it going completely through the entire. Pack so the solution back apartment does. This is what it looks like zip. Even when exhibits very sizable in this. I can fit my mic open sleeping bag ather. Mraz pro light sleeping mat my cocoon pillow as well as a pretty big hammock i. Got from dick’s it’s not not anything too fancy pretty heavy but i can fit all. Four of those in there which is very nice. Do a couple loops down here as well good. For holding ice picks trekking poles anything like that we have our side compression straps as. Well as the elastic water bottle holders. On the side water can go in through. There. Though there is not one on the other. Side i think there would be that’s one. Think that’s a little bit annoying about it but that’s not a huge deal the thing. That really attracted me to this pack was the air comfort very flexes that deuter has put here the hip belt it’s. Slightly mobile it boasts that it moves. From side to side but it really doesn’t do a lot but it’s enough to. Kind of go with you on the trail a. Little bit but nothing really to brag about it is very comfortable there are. No side pockets on this which is one. Think that i wish they did have and they. Don’t have any really good way to secure. Your straps my wife has a Gregory. Jade and her straps can tuck right and. She’s got the nice side pockets such as me music but the system on the back. Really does allow for air to get in here. Very well very comfortable light. Back i can wear it and like i said. Earlier I’m a sweaty dude hits a that’s a bandana but my back does not sweat. Because i get so much air coming in through the back here overall it’s a. Very good pack i like it a lot for. Night weekend short weekend hikes things. Like that i can fit a lot in this bad boy this seams are strong no complaints. About it so far.
