Here in New, Jersey at the fly-fishing show I’m here to introduce the new rides real. This is the newest version of the rides real, featuring fully machined aluminum frame and spool large arbor design. That’s skeletonized to keep it lightweight. The drag system is a compact drag system that fits right into here. This is a very smooth, reliable, drag to some great for fresh water and light saltwater applications.
The rides real is available in three different colorways, including this nice amber color and is available at fish USA.
Today, I’m checking out the new Reddington rise, real I have the new gen model and I also have the original model to do a quick comparison. Show you what’s new and improved. The first model came out about 10 years ago. I’ve owned this one. For about that long, it has been my go-to tro, real love using it up here in the North Korean boy. Alleys, especially worked very, very well.
You can see a quick little change from the old model to the new model. The release on the spool Gen 1 was a little bit more simple metal, slider tab. The new gen is actually a push button here in the center of the reel clickers on the adjustment knob here on the drag slightly different. These ones were metal. This one’s more of a plastic housing I would say that this seems to work very well and smooth, even though it is plastic.
So I’ll set this one down. This was a 5 6. The new model I’m holding here is a 9/10 I’ve, got it rigged up for spay fish in here, Pacific Northwest got a matched on one of my sage. Accel rods works very, very well, nice light real gonna run you the 200, 250 range I. Don’t think you’ll find a much better option for that price. So, anyway, release on the spool very simple push button like I said push it pops off inner guts.
It has a very simple retainer clip here. As you can see on the shaft, you pull push the clip out. Everything will fall out flip the bearing put it back together, got your left and right retrieve change so do as you wish, drag adjustment very simple plastic knob, nothing special there, but the drag itself very, very smooth and sufficient one little change from the old model.
The new model is, the grip has got a little bit of plastic or rubber feel to it quite nice, especially on cool weather days. You don’t want to have that slip on your hand when you’re fighting the fish of a lifetime so anyway check them out. New Rhys Reddington real local shops online great option for the 200 250 dollar range.
Good afternoon, George cook, with Reddington here at the vaunted caddisfly of Eugene Oregon, home of the depleted quarterback, ducks we’ll see what comes this fall. Today’s subject, a couple new reels from Reddington coming out, mid-may here in 2020, another color to the vaunted ride series this one in a rose gold in all sizes, three, four, through nine ten for total great looking color, particularly in the sunshine where it can really pop versus the shade we’re in today the grand new real to the Reddington collection is called the run in the run is a cast version of the vaunted rocks.
The run will be available in three sizes, a three four five, six, seven, eight, the nine ten, the bigger one which is found in the rise, is only found in the machined version rise real, which gives us steelhead salmon size space size in that nine ten. This is a cast reel, but interestingly, spools from these are indeed interchangeable with the rise, which provides an economic extra spool alternative.
Within the run, you will see that there’s three colors a pewter, a burgundy or as I call it clay pot in black, which is somewhat of a matte black or stealthy black. All three colors three sizes hundred $9 99, mid May, 2000.
Hey guys trailer were trying to fly fishing and welcome to another episode of the reel corner, and today we’ve got a nice little package from Reddington. You know this is a budget reel, but it’s a really nice budget reel and I think it works really well for anglers. Looking for a real the tie performing, but not wanting to spend a ton of money on a fly reel now there are several instances in fly fishing where you really don’t have to buy the most expensive reel, certainly when you’re fishing for big species in saltwater, you know you want all the drag you can get.
You want all the backing capacity you can have, but you know when you’re trout, fishing or when you’re fishing for panfish or bass back at capacity drag all that stuff is a little less important and that’s where this Reddington rods reel comes in now. This is the third iteration of the rise and we think it’s the best package yet from Reddington for a few different reasons.
As you can see, it’s got a nice lightweight design here and in fact this is the 7/8 version it weighs in at 5 6 ounces, which is a pretty good weight for a 7/8 reel and they’ve redesigned the arbor here on this reel, it’s a u-shaped arbor, which is really nice. You know this quick-release spool pops right off with a button on the front here, which is a good user-friendly, spool detachment there and they’ve built a carbon fiber just drag system into the reel, which is really great, and it’s actually pretty powerful.
Now the dragon, just ability is good. You know this is this drag knob? Is very user friendly really easy to turn and when you crank it all the way down, you can really get some good drag strength and good. Stopping capabilities out of this 7/8 weight reel now, like I, said, the 7/8 wave reel is good for bass, it’s good for larger freshwater fish, but you can also use it in light saltwater as well and, of course, is a fully machined reel.
So it’s gonna hold up a little bit better than some of the die cast. Aluminum reels, which is another great feature- it’s got a really user-friendly reel knob, here easy to grip when wet, which is great, its twin molded, which is really nice and just a nice overall package from Reddington. Now this reel comes and several different colors I believe that just added a rose gold color for 2020- and this offers just you know, really durable, really solid performance for anglers looking to spend.
You know $200 ish, on a real now this 7 8 version retails for to $19, 99 and, of course, like all of our real ships from for you from Trident fly fishing calm, and this rise of course comes in a nice nylon reel case, which is great. You can use this reel case when your reels on your rod to protect it or you can use it in travel and it comes with the Reddington lifetime warranty, which is great.
The rise comes in weights from 3/4 all the way up through 910, so it can be used for light duty, trout, fishing, all the way through fresh water and some light saltwater work. Now, on most trout reels we like to prioritize retrieval rates, because you don’t need a ton of backing capacity like I stated earlier, and this ultra large arbor from Reddington definitely does that you know the retrieval rates on this reel are really good and, like I said before, the u-shaped Arbor is a nice feature on this reel.
Reddington’s also built a pretty nice sound into this rise. It is the same incoming and outgoing sound, which is nice. It’s really consistent. It’s really reliable. Now, like most reels on the market. This reel really easily converts from left hand to right hand retrieve. All you have to do is pop this casing off here and switch the bearing inside put the casing back on you’re good to go so overall, a really nice package from Reddington.
You know this is gonna, be one of the best fully machined reels for right around the $200 price point, like I said, it’s got a great drag system, it’s pretty lightweight, which is nice, and it’s got a ton of features that are really user-friendly. If you liked this review and you’re looking for others, be sure to subscribe to our Channel and hit the bell notification to be notified of all future videos, I’m Chandler thanks for watching and we’ll see you next time.
Hey I’m Jeff from avid max and today I’ve got the Reddington rise fly reel with me. It is their premium fly reel and it’s got a lot of really great features that we wanted to show you about. It is a fully machined aluminum fly reel and also has a really nice carbon fiber drag system on it as well one of the things you’re going to notice as soon as you pick this up, though, it’s just kind of how good it feels in your hands. It’s got a great handle there on the side, and it also has a really easy to remove spool on there as well, so in case you’re, one of those people that have a few different types of lines, and you want to keep them on different spools.
You can do that and swap them out real easy. It’s also pretty easy to convert these from a right hand, retrieved to a left hand retrieve so that you can set it up. However, works best for you as you look at it as well, you’re going to notice it that it has a much larger than usual arbor right here and that’s gonna. Give you a couple of added benefits, one of the first things that you’re gonna notice about it, as you start playing with it in real a minute, unlike that, is that it’s gonna provide with a much faster retrieval speed.
Just the fact that it’s wound a little bit higher up. There means, as you’re, pulling that fish in or just pulling in some some regular line there. It’s gonna come in a lot quicker, also as you’re stripping your line out there you’re gonna notice that there’s not gonna be nearly as much memory and it’s not gonna be spooling up kind of in front of there nearly as much with a reel like this either. One of the things I like here on the side is just how big the drag system is on the side here.
So it’s really easy to turn. It’s got a pretty grippy outside to it. So, even when it gets a little bit, wet you’re still gonna be able to reach it and use it really easily there and the thing about it being a little bit bigger is that it’s gonna be really easy to adjust kind of on the go. So if you’ve, just reeled in a monster fish and the next one that you hook into is a lot smaller you’re going to be able to real, quick, just kind of on the fly turn that in a little bit too, to use this drag system really nice, no matter what size fish you’ve got on the line there.
It comes in a few different sizes as well as colors, so you can get it sized anywhere from a size, four, all the way up to a ten, and we have a couple of different colors here. This is the amber. We also have the / and the black and also comes in a new olive color, as well as with most of the Reddington products. It also has a lifetime warranty, which is great, and it has a nice little nylon case here as well, just to throw it on. After you take it off your rod there to keep it protected from the elements just a little bit on all the Reddington rise fly reel is a great reel.
It is top of the line and has a lot of really cool features. You’re. Just looking for that, one fly reel they’re going to be able to do everything you want to with switch out the spools on it and really just help. You have a great day out there on the river Lake I think this is going to be a great one for you. If you liked our video make sure to give it a thumbs up as well as leave some comments and suggestions at the end for more fly, fishing and outdoor related videos subscribe to our avid max YouTube channel.
Thanks for watching and we’ll see you out there, you.
Just picked up the Reddington rise, three real from my local flash shop. The blue quill angler sells for $200 I, got it in the five six wait. Olive green color comes with a carrying pouch, really well padded soft I wish it had a belt loop on the back, make a great carrying pouch love. The color of this thing I also got some real gold moss gold, color line for it, which matches it really nicely.
This reel has a great sound. It’s got. The disc drag completely adjustable very smooth, drag real, easy to take the spool off just push the button pop. The spool right off the disc system is completely sealed to ricci it. You just pop it back on real easy to switch spools with this grab a couple measurements on it. Overall height 3, 8, inches diameter of the spool about 3 6 with is 1 3, the width, the adjustment knob, a 1 9, the adjustment knobs about 1 1, and it sits off the real about 0 4 inches very light I’m going to use this for backpacking a lot I got a 6 piece, Reddington, trout, classic classic trout, I guess to go with it, weighs in at a 165 grams, which is 5 and 3/4 ounces.
So it’s gonna be a great little backpack real, since I’m gonna be taking it out backpacking a lot. I got a little better case for it picked up the fish pond four-inch case really excited about this. It’s got. 2 1 inch thick pieces of foam padding in there completely removable, so you could take one out store stuff on top or you can run both of them.
It secures the real really nicely with both pads in there. It’s got the little hole for the reel handle and this fits snug. In there it’s got a number 8 zipper very stout go overall. Width is 5, 1, inches height, 3 8, and this thing solid, I’d, throw this thing off a mountain and I know my reel would be fine, can’t wait to get out and fish it get up get in the mountains.
Rip some lips with it I’ll have some more reviews. Afterward thanks for watching you, you.

You.
I got the eight-weight version and fished it right away, handled the fight quite well. I did notice that the rod was not a full bend rod, but the fiberglass flexed very well. It has a very stiff spine. Casting heavier line and flies is easy. With this update, the rod didn’t bend fully because the carp wasn’t strong enough. I have now caught well over two dozen chinook salmon on this rod and it is amazing.
It definitely bent all the way down to the cork full bend and held up to everything these fish threw at it. Although the area where the reel is placed and locked down was a bit tight and had to shave down my reel to fit overall, I loved this pole and the action it gave it even held its own when I reeled in a 20 inches brown, great fiberglass rod for the price, I wanted to try a fiberglass rod without breaking the bank, and this rod did just that.
The rod, tube and rod itself came in great condition and the real seat took my redington behemoth. 6Wt perfectly, I have caught some big freshwater fish with it already and it has held up great. I warned that it is a flimsy rod because of what it’s made of so there will be some adjustment. If you’ve only used graphite any of the colors would be a great choice. You.

That’s lighter weight than the version we have out now, which is the 2200.
It’s all machine drag knob. It’s got a machined hub. It’s still using a one. Revolution drag with a carbon fiber system on the inside, so you have quick, adjustability I know what your drum controlling. When you’re fighting a fish. We have four sizes: a 3 4, a 5 6, a 7 8 and a 9 10. The two smaller sizes are one hundred and fifty dollars. The two larger sizes are 175 and they’re available at Trident, fly-fishing comm. You.
Hi peter charles here hooked for life fly fishing, and today I want to talk to you about a problem we’re having with modern fly lines on reels like this one, especially this one, which is you know, I don’t know about ten years old, maybe a little older, it’s a danielson, six, nine, which means it’s built for fly lines from uh six weight to nine weight lines.
Now, if we were putting let’s say a regular eight weight, typical astma standard weight forward, eight weight on here, uh, it’s 90 foot, long that we would typically bought when we this reel was first made there’d be loads of room for backing, wouldn’t be a problem. However, what I’ve got on here now is an airflow sniper line.
It’s 120 foot long, not 90, and it’s thick. It takes up a lot of room and so, as a consequence, is virtually no room for any backing on this reel and I don’t want to go out and buy another reel. This is a wonderful reel. So what am I going to do? Well, the solution is to use braid like this power pro you, the power pro diameter is much smaller than dakron for the a breaking given breaking strain.
I can put you know over 100 yards of backing on this reel using 50 pound power, pro braid, which I’ve got on here right now and it barely takes up any room and I’ve got tons of room for my fly line. So by using braid and typically 50 pound is adequate. We could go to 80 if you wanted to to take up more space, but it allows you to put a lot of braid on a reel and take very little room compared to say 30 pound background.
You could even go lighter if you wanted, you go down to 20 or 30 pound. If you wanted to, and you could put a ton of backing on a reel and not take up much room now. I know some of you are worried about um the braid cutting into the rear loop of the fly line. It’s not a big problem with the airflow polyurethane lines, though it may be more of a concern with polychloride lines, but if you’re worried about that, nevertheless, all you have to do is make two or three passes with the uh braid through the rear loop of the fly line, and so you’ve got, let’s say three strands of power pro through that loop going through the loop, so it’s spreading the load over the the loop and it’s much less likely to cut in.
So if you just if you’re worried about that, just use multiple passes and you know basically you’re thickening up the power pro you’re making three times as thick. If you put three passes, so you know it’s a simple way around the problem, I mean there’s other ways of doing it. I mean you could put some dacron between the power pro and blah blah blah, but you know, make multiple passes and you solve the problem but, as I say, putting power pro or other kinds of braid on your fly.
Reels, I think, is the way to go. It has all the requirements we want in uh in backing and that it’s it’s uh rot resistant. It won’t shrink, you know it’s very, very durable, lasts for a very, very long time. You won’t have to replace it very often I’ll. Tell you that much so you can use this on a reel for a long time. Not worry about it.
The other complaint I’ve heard about using braid is people worrying about burning or cutting your fingers. When a fish is running and you touch it well, that’s true, it could happen, but I’ll tell you something else. I’ve done it with dakron, so I had a really big. Striped bass run a very long way and I accidentally touched the br, the dacron, as is ripping out, and I got a lovely burn right across my fingers.
So you know just because uh you know you’ve got dacron doesn’t mean it’s going to protect you, the the idea is if you’ve got a running fish, you keep your fingers away from the thing. Okay, you don’t want to be touching the backing as it’s ripping off your reel, because you’re going to burn yourself, you can cut yourself and uh.
You know it’s going to happen with dacron, it’s going to happen with braid as well, but it’s a great solution and I’m now working all of my reels over to braid and uh. You know with these new fly lines, it takes so much more space, it’s an ideal solution. So you know if you’re having that problem with trying to fit fly lines on rails.
Remember powerprep, give it a try, cheers.
