In this video, we’re gonna be taking a head on over to pack hacker comm for more information link in the description below so just starting on the outside of this sling. We got these two nice buckles here, so these are great. You can throw you know if you’ve got a rain jacket that you want to take off and let dry or anything like that. You know you can just strap it to the front here. These are nice and adjustable. So you know if you’ve got something bigger you want to put in there or tighten them up, and they do have these elastic keepers on here.
So it makes for a fairly tangle free experience, and if you don’t want to use them at all, you can actually just tuck them away here inside this little like front paneling. If straps aren’t really your thing, so there you go, they just both would pack away like that, and then that also gives it a like a little bit more cleaner, look and then flipping it over. This is part that we think makes this like such a great little sling.
You got this nice mesh. Padding here and along with this pattern, kind of looking cool these different, like channels kind of give you some a little bit more breathability and airflow than you normally would, if it was just like a flat mesh or flat foam or anything like that, and then that’s also along the shoulder strap here. It’s that same nice, padding very breathable super comfortable to wear, there’s actually been several times where I’ve actually had this on and I’ve been I forgot that I’ve been wearing it just because you really don’t even notice it until you lean over and it kind of hits you in the back of the head a little bit and then on the outside.
You got a couple spots here if you want to attach like a carabiner, some people like to put water bottles here, I think that’s a bit heavy for this, but any sort of other accessories. You know, if you wanted quick access to your keys, you could put them on here. Otherwise there is it it’s about to put your keys in this main pocket here. This is also a great spot. You know just a nice quick wrap pocket if you want to put a wallet in there, it’s not too big, so you couldn’t really put much more than that.
Yeah, like phone wallet keys, that’s about all you’re gonna fit in here and then in the main compartment, basically just wide open space here, not too much organization, which you know for something this size. We don’t really need too much of this has actually got a nice soft padding here. So if you want to put a tablet in there between the soft padding there and then the padding on the back, you know we’d be pretty confident that it’s going to be safe but just wide open.
You know so you’re gonna put a water bottle, some clothes, you know just anything you want it’s all gonna fit in there pretty good, and then you just have this small pocket on the front. Haven’t really found too much use for this, but it’s there. If you need it and it stays flat. If you don’t want to use it, but then it also expands with this mesh. So it gives itself quite a bit of dimension that way, so you could put something a little bigger in here.
You know we just really haven’t found any super great use for it. Yet, but not saying we won’t, but it’s held up really well, you know, there’s no marks or scrapes on it really. You know after two weeks of use and we’ve just been really liking, it super comfortable again this this back mesh is fantastic. It really kind of is the quintessential when people think of a sling. This style is kinda, I, think what more people think of and we’ve just been really enjoying using it and we’re gonna continue to use it and we’ll keep you updated in the notes.
So there you have it. That was our quick look review of the Patagonia atom sling for more information head on over to pack hacker comm, and if you’d like to see more in depth, reviews and make sure to check out our main channel too.
Versatile pack for any angler, as an alternative to wearing the vest, two reasons why I love this sling, it’s comfortable to fish as it sits in between your shoulders and you can work in front of your body while on the water all day, we make this with a Cordura ripstop fabric that has a polyurethane coating and a durable water repellent finish to resist moisture. This pack has ample storage space and lots of organizing pockets close to your body.
You’ve got a zippered security pocket in the main compartment. You’ve got various organizational pockets as well as a TPU welded, waterproof phone and camera pocket. The outside of the pack has a single external water bottle pocket with security keeper a place to clip your he Mo’s and your zingers and an external tippet holder, the molded front. Zipper panel drops open to create a flat work surface, as well as a place to store some flies.
The padded back panel is covered with a stretch woven fabric for greater comfort and has our iconic fitzroy trout, logo molded in this pack adjusts easily for layering. This little number is the Patagonia autumn, sling 8 litre bag and first look, you might look at this thing looks a little bit strange, it’s kind of like a messenger. It’s got one shoulder strap, but this has actually become a little cult classic bag for Patagonia and, if you think about what this, but this bag achieves it’s. Actually it’s not hard to understand why this carries just a nice set of your essentials. It is super easy to throw on your back get on your bike walk around in the city.
It’s a very functional, easy bag for carrying just a few those essentials. The zippered main pocket has inside zippered mesh pockets to organize your smaller items. The soft line zip pocket on the shoulder strap, is great for protecting your smaller valuables for comfort. The shoulder, strap and back panel feature nice breathable mesh for biking and hiking. The integrated waist belt keeps the pack close to your torso, yet the whole bag is made out of tough lightweight, recycled polyester and the durable water repellent finish resists light rain, snow or stains.

You know a few things in there, some food and some water for your kids. This little bag could be your Savior. It’s very, very easy to wear and use it’s super comfortable. You hardly know that things on and it carries just the right amount of little things Hey. So that’s the end of our video, but if you want to watch something else should watch that if you want to check out something pretty cool ways, check out that and of course, I really really want you to do that, and now I’m gonna dance.
Hey my name is Christian bolt and in this video I’m talking about the eight, so I want to get started with a few of my favorite features and some of the basic features that this bag has and what its advantages are over other sling bags its size. So this bag is 60 to 70 dollars, which is about the standard range for bags like this. They do kind of skyrocket up to like 200-300 dollars at some point, but this is one of the less expensive bags its size and it’s still a really good quality.
Patagonia made some really colorful and unique bags compared to the rest city bags. A lot of brands will only have like a dark gray, a black and really dull, bland colors with air bags. It does have a cushioned, strap and some city bags. Some other bags that are sometimes even more expensive are not gonna have a cushion on there, and this is just gonna, really help relax your shoulder and not stress it out too much while you’re using it.
Now on the front. You do have a pocket that you can stick a phone or a wallet or extra cash, whatever you’re gonna stick in there, one of my favorite things about this bag and why it has such an advantage over other city bags. Sling bags is when you bring it up to the front, and this should be an absolute standard feature with every single sling bag that there is out there.
But when you bring this up front, it is perfectly square with what you’re doing and all the pockets are up on top. So, when you’re going to grab something out, let me maybe the smaller pocket or grab your bigger items out of the bigger pocket. They are completely level and it’s very comfortable to reach in there and grab whatever you need. You don’t have to come in from the side and shimmy and look really awkward.
You look very professional. You know what you’re doing you can be a lot more confident with your stuff, not falling out as well on the front of the bag. We have these clips so if you’re gonna be clipping on, maybe like a rain jacket after it’s stopped raining, maybe an umbrella clip it on to the front instead of trying to stuff it into your bag or carrying it in your hand, which is really nice up front in this first pocket.
This is where you can carry around your essential stuff. It does have a key holder, so maybe your apartment keys, I, have my car keys hooked up here with an iPhone charger. I keep my Apple pencil I have a pair glass. Is my billfold and then I put a passport in here just so, then you can kind of get the size of it. If you’re traveling internationally, it does fit a passport quite well in there, it’s actually almost perfect for it, so that front pocket was almost stuffed to the brim, with everything that I put in there.
But you can fit a lot of stuff in there a lot of the essential things that you’re gonna need. So then, moving on to the main story, the main pockets, the big upfront pocket. This is where you’re gonna have all eight liters of space. This is where you’re gonna just be able to stuff everything that you’re gonna want to take. Now. I will say that when you stuff this up to the brim, it does kind of look awkward and it does not sit right on your back get a larger bag if you’re gonna be carrying a lot with you.
Otherwise, if you’re carrying about as much as me, this is almost perfect for you. So in here, I have my mask: I, carry around a noise canceling set of headphones, so anytime, I want to edit a video or listen to music. I always have something available for that, and then an iPad pro with the magic keyboard. I will say that this is the 11 inch version, and this is almost perfect in there.
You can see that it’s almost too big for this bag, and that’s mostly because of the case in the inside of the bigger pocket. There is a sleeve with a microfiber liner. So when you do stick in your iPad kind of slides in there perfectly I would imagine that, like the 12-inch, MacBook will also fit in there really well or any other iPad like the 10 5 inch, iPad pro or any of the iPad Air’s.
This is the iPad pro 11 inch and it slips in there perfectly feels really light and comfortable when it doesn’t have a case on it. So that’s why I’d recommend like getting a skin. So then you can at least protect a little bit. This bag is made out of a really nice material. It’s a nylon all around so I feel like it’s really durable. If I were to ever drop this well on my electric skateboard going 25 miles per hour, which I doubt would ever happen, but I don’t think it would rip I, don’t think I would be even be worried about it.
Ripping I just might be worried about the contents inside because a thin layer of nylon is not the most protective material for the items that would be inside one of the other things that this has, which a lot of other bags are going to have as well. So when taking off the bag, you can quickly take it off or you can quickly put it on if this is how you’re gonna put on the bag.
I would imagine that this is not the way you’re going to do it, but it’s very comfortable. You have an adjustable strap when it’s securing and tightening the there is an elastic loop that helps this dangly thing not be so dangly and just keep it really clean that way. You’re not gonna accidentally attach yourself to anything when it comes down to it.
What I think this bag is really good for is maybe somebody that lives in a city that wants to carry around a few items like I am and/or doing small day trips, where they want to carry around. Maybe an extra water bottle or something, but they don’t want a full backpack on their back. They just want something lighter something that is smaller, so then they don’t really have to carry around as much.
I also think that sling bags are really nice for people that want something a little bit more stylish. A big reason why I got a sling bag is because I just feel like having the bag kind of up front like this, while you’re grabbing things is really cool, really convenient and then, when pushing it back. I just feel like this is a really good setup.
This isn’t the perfect bag for me, because I need to fit a magic keyboard on my iPad when using the bag, and just the fact that this is going to be difficult to fit in every single time, isn’t the biggest inconvenience but its inconvenience enough for me to say: I’m, gonna, look for another bag now, for what this bag has the features that it carries just its quality and it like the assurance of it not dropping your products when grabbing things out of it.
It’s very comfortable. It’s very quick, snazzy I would definitely recommend this bag too. For anybody, that’s not carrying around the biggest laptop or the biggest iPad it just kind of slips in there, everything’s really cozy in there, and you can carry around a lot of the essentials that you want during your day, without filling your pockets or worrying about carrying a larger bag.
Around with you, like I, said this is 60 bucks, so it’s one of the less expensive bags on the market. It’s super high quality, it’s very comfortable, and it has a lot of features that you’re not going to find on even the most expensive city bags that are out there. I do have a link down below I, don’t make money off the links yet, but I want to in the future.
So if you want to help support me to the point where I can start making money off of youtube and do this full-time, that’s one of the things that I want to accomplish in 2020 and I’ve been doing youtube for a long time. So, if you want to help me, please subscribe like this video and leave a comment. Anyways guys thanks for watching this video.
If you want to see more bag reviews like this one, then just let me no I have another one coming next week that I’m gonna try out with the iPad pro with its magic keyboard case, but just in general I’m gonna head out go around the city to catch the sunset.
This video I wanted to cover something which I picked up quite recently, which is this: the 8 litre, Patagonia Atem sling bag. So I picked this up a few weeks ago, because I don’t feel like I own, a massive amount of tech web stuff. So when I put text fit together, they can sometimes look a little bit plain. So I think this should help combat that, because it’s kind of quite smaller, that’s quite a lot going on as well.
A lot of tech. Wear bags can be pretty expensive as well, especially stuff, like the acronym 3a, which retailed a massive I think 710 euros. Something like that, whereas this is a mere 35 pounds, so a lot more affordable I can very easily pick something like this up without too much difficulty. The most obvious, interesting thing about this bag is the three-way, strap I, think it looks pretty cool and it obviously helps keep things a lot more stable than if it was a standard shoulder or messenger bag.
I also feel like it distributes the weight of things inside the bag a lot more evenly, so the bag kind of rests in the center of your back as opposed to on one side. So if you kind of weighed this up with a lot of stuff, then you’re not going to get to kind of pull down to one side and end up having your shoulder now. You might think that, because of all these straps, it could be quite hard to get into you know you got to like unclip the whole thing and take it off if you want to get inside it, but that is not the case.
Luckily, you can just undo one of the clips and then spin it around, and then you have very easy access to the main pocket of the bag because of that orientation as well they’re also facing upwards, so they’re super easy to get into, and none of your shit’s going to fall out when you’re messing about with it. You might have noticed as well that the front of the bag there is a little pocket built-in for strap.
This is good for a you know, a couple of bits that you want easy access to. Annoyingly, though this is a bit too small to fit your average 2017 smartphone in there was no way that I was going to get my experience at 5 in here. If you’ve got an iPhone, 7 galaxy s7 si something like that. There’s no way it’s going in how, unfortunately, which is kind of annoying I, think had this pocket, but a little bit bigger, it would have been way more functional, but it’s a relatively minor concern.
You can still get some cool stuff in here and, of course, you’ll probably have pockets on your jacket and stuff as well for carrying your phone. Luckily, in the main pockets of this bag, there are quite a lot of little storage options in the main zipped compartment. There are three separate sections: you’ve got a little mesh one here, the main pocket, of course, and towards the bottom.
You have a little side pocket, also and don’t forget the little clip for attaching your keys to there’s, also a mini pocket on top, which is good for a few extra bits. You could definitely get your phone in that one, for example, on the front as well. You do have these straps here, which could be used to secure something like a water bottle. I would perhaps be a little bit careful with that, though.
It’s the kind of thing that could slip out, depending on what you’re doing you’re just walking around you’d, probably be alright, but obviously not as secure as keeping it in the main compartment of the bag. This whole thing is made of recycled polyester, which I think is good. Patagonia are always pretty decent in terms of using like responsible materials and stuff, which is always a nice touch, I think so.
This is all polyester. The banks is this kind of ripstop type material for a little bit of added durability and the part that’s actually going to be touching your body is this kind of mesh like material which will give you a little bit of extra breathability help. Stop you getting too sweaty on your back. Nobody likes having a sweaty back, so I do think that this is a really good bag.
If you’re looking to get into that kind of tech, wear style without really investing too much, my only concern with it, apart from the front pocket being a little bit too small for something like a smartphone, is that this does have a little bit of a kind of hiker core looks to it. So I do think you have to be careful of pairing this up with other things. You know if you wear too much, which is of this sort style, you’re just going to look like you’re going out for a hike, whereas I think what a lot of people are trying to achieve with tech wear.
Is that more kind of futuristic, more urban kind of look, so by all means you pair this up with something else that does kind of fit that look a bit more, but I think it will definitely help out. However yeah you don’t want to go too high curry. So if you’re, conscious of that, you do kind of pair this up with things that do fit, that more kind of futuristic or more urban look a bit more, then I think this will be a really great addition to a feel like that.
So by way of comparison, this is my other bag, which I think kind of looks good in tech. Wear fits. This is from a place called urban renewal in Japan, so probably not very easy for you guys to purchase I just thought. I’d show off. Anyway. There are kind of similar alternatives. You can get things that are relatively similar. Looking to this from a DDoS from Nike I think rains as well have quite a kind of minimal looking bag like this.
So this big monolithic kind of look does make it look very different. The patagonia bag, obviously and I think it certainly does have that kind of futuristic appeal. However, it’s definitely not as practical. The whole front is done up with these little clips here, so it’s not actually fully secured. You know you can get your hand in the side here, whilst the bag is done up.
So in terms of weather proofing and, of course, security- that’s probably not the best. However, it does also have a side zip for getting into the main compartment. So that’s kind of a nice touch. There are two main pockets in this bag. That’s the big central one, which is split into two for kind of laptop and then everything else and there’s a little pocket on the top here as well.
Now you don’t want to put too much stuff in the top, because it does kind of weigh down the rest of the bag and make it look a bit awkward but yeah for the old thing it’s good to put in it. I definitely rate this bag. In terms of its storage, you can get a massive amount in here, which is really good. However, for a quick day trip out the pad to go, anyone is definitely going to be way better, I think, especially if you’re in an urban environment.
To be honest, it’s very close to the body. Everything in there is very secure, so I don’t think you going to lose anything. No one’s really going to attempt to steal stuff for me, whereas this I think people can get my hands in there, it’s a little bit further away from the body, so yeah, definitely something to be careful of I think so that is pretty much it for this video do.
Let me know what you think of these bags, particularly the patagonia one. Maybe some of you will kind of think that that goes over the line, a little bit too much into kind of practical hiker type territory, and it’s not really kind of tech wear enough or you know, maybe you do think that this is appropriate attack, where maybe you want to pick one up using your fits, etc.
Either way do let me know thanks for your recent support on these videos. It really does mean a lot if you enjoyed the video the best way to do that is to leave a like, or you can leave a comment as well. If you’ve got any thoughts about these bags- or you know, tag where in general, as always thanks so much for watching and I will catch you in the next video nice job on making it all the way to the end of this video.
If you want to see more tech, Questor I will put links around here somewhere, you guys can check those out. I’ve got some ACG stuff on the way as well, so that would definitely be in a video also, if you want to see that- and you haven’t subscribed already and click that subscribe link somewhere along the bottom check, it out.
Hey guys welcome back to my channel. If you are new here, then welcome to my channel I appreciate you guys clicking a link and what handle this. If you’ve watched my videos before and then thank you for joining me again. So today’s video is just a review on the Patagonia Adams bling bag. This is the eight liter bag. I ordered this off of Amazon or I. Think $66, which I think is a little bit cheaper than an actual sight. So I’ll leave a link down below for this bag and I just want to kind of run through.
Why about this bag because it just seems like kind of a different purchase for me, cuz I, usually just carry around purses and stuff so or nothing so back in November, I was planning on going on a trip to Costa, Rica and I thought that I needed some kind of badge, because I knew that I would be going to Pakal farms and being outdoors a lot and I knew that it was rainy season in November. So I was like okay well, I need a bag that will hold up to all of that. So I decided to go ahead and look at some reviews and see what kind of bags would be useful.
So then I thought: okay. Well, there’s a bunch of girls that have these like sling bags and I see them carrying it pretty much anywhere and I was like they look very comfortable and very useful for what I need and I’ve also heard of the Patagonia sling bag and I thought okay. Well, that seems like a very durable brand and something that’s a little bit more on the pricier side, but I know that’ll last so I decide to go ahead and fuse and get this back so that I got it and I was like okay.
Well, there’s not really a lot of reviews online. So maybe they should so that’s my backstory. Why I got this this atom? Sling bag is 8 liters. So it’s a pretty good size. It’s not too tiny, and it’s not too big, so I I really like the size of this bag, and it’s very roomy on the inside, and it has this little sleeve in here for a tablet. I sometimes just put my phone in there too I mean my phone is definitely not as big as a tablet, but you know, and it’s pretty durable because I’m one of those people that like to use things till they die so I’m gonna, be using this until it dies and I’ve had it for about six months now, actually over six months now.
So this is like pretty good and I’m. Just gonna quickly run through all the little different, zippers and stuff like that. There aren’t any there. There aren’t many there’s three of them, so I’m just gonna quickly run through it and also another thing about this bag. It is actually waterproof, which was one of the reasons that it caught my eye because I was like. Oh, this is perfect: I’m gonna, Costa Rica, it’s rainy season, I can bring in some url’s and I have used at theme parks in Orlando and other theme parks I’m using me when I go to California, so I’m, just like okay.
Well, it’s very what weather weather durable is the word for it brings I’m already sure, but we’re just gonna get into it. I think I said that, like five million times so, let’s just start the first little opening. Is this little zipper right here on the strap, and this is the one that faces you in the front like this and right now, I actually have a chapstick in here and a couple of tickets from Universal. So let’s just shove that back in there, you know because my name is Thomas, but here we are I, actually wanted a pocket here for my phone.
But then, obviously my phone is not gonna fit in here. It’s so small, not even with all my case. It’s not gonna pin here and her reference. I have the iPhone XS. So if you guys have the eight or XS or even x+, it’s definitely not gonna fit in here. Maybe smaller phones but yeah. So I find it useful to keep like small things like my chopsticks. So I can like have it in my hand, because I love using my chopstick and another fun side story. I zipped this when I went to Orlando and I went to the bathroom and I was I put my bag on the little hook.
Thing and my chapstick flew out and fell in the toilet and I was like. This would only happen to me and I was so sad because, obviously, when I lose my chopstick well, let’s get extremely dry that day and I was like. Oh no I’m, also what those people like to chop sticks till they die. So I was like. Oh, my streak is over. You know with this chopstick. It’s done it’s gotten by so obviously I didn’t fish it out and use it. I gotta be a 1. So that’s great anyway. Moving on to our my chapstick sob story, we’re gonna go to the side.
So this is one thing I like about this bag is that it has some zipper on the side I’m, rather than like the big zipper in the front, because I feel like it’s more anti-theft that way since it’s closer to your body- and you can actually sling this over to the front too. So you can keep it like closer to you on this pocket holds a lot. I have had water bottle in my wallet my charger, a little mini-book and my rain jacket in there and some snacks, and it’s still like hold up I think it was fat, but it held up so I was like this is this is great and it’s not too heavy either because it is such a small bag.
So it’s not gonna like wait. You down too much so I’m gonna quickly, actually show you guys how much will fit in here by just shoving a couple of things in here, and that is the first thing is that I want to put in here. Is this water bottle and I? Think it is around I’m gonna see like 12 to 16 ounces, so I mean it’s a pretty good sized water bottles and we’re just gonna put it in there. It flips it very easily. You could even fit a bigger water bottle. My water bottle that I took away from to on my trips were a little bit bigger than this, so it will fit.
The next item is a snack, and this is just a protein bar from kind I love beads, a very good. It’s not a nag, but if you are one of those people that don’t really grow bars, but then you just like want something on hand, because just in case you or someone else gets really hungry on your trip or whatever. This is really good, and this is the dark chocolate dark chocolate, cocoa, one, so I recommend this flavor I think if I figured out of all of them to be honest but anyway, and then I obviously have my wallet, and this is just a standard sized wallet and you always need your wallet.
You never know, you know, I mean I can’t go everywhere. So let’s shove that in there and then the next thing I have is this sunscreen? It matches my shirt, but this sunscreen is just a it’s. Just a toe face, sunscreen that I like to have on with me, because a lot of times when I do take trips and stuff I have a bag where I just have -, and this is usually just one of them and seeking necessities. This is just a another little purse bag thing I thought you didn’t have to keep like feminine products: medicine important things.
What like stuff like that, so I always keep it separately in a different bag. So when I need it, I just just reach out and grab it so I’m, so I’m going to put that in there and then the last thing that actually the last thing next last thing is my charger. So this is just my iPhone charger if you have so. This is just my iPhone charger. If you have a portable charger, then that would be even better. I carry my iPhone charger with me as well, because if I need to find an outlet or somewhere that I can charge my phone I’ll definitely just go ahead and charge it.
So the last thing happened: this bag. Is this little flashlight and I’m planning on taking this with me to all my trips, because you just never know when you need a flashlight. I actually took this to Costa Rica with me, because in Costa Rica, when it gets dark or wouldn’t I falled, it is so dark, especially in the countryside, because there aren’t really like street lights or anything like that and flashlights. So they told us to bring a flashlight and I was like okay, I’m gonna get a good one, has a little wrist thing: -, it’s not too bad, it’s pretty heavy, but also that means it’s like pretty good quality -, it’s just the Energizer one and I got this from Target for over $15.
So it’s pretty useful and it even has like a strobe feature: I’m, not gonna, strobe, anyone right now, but so perfectly and there’s plenty of room for more things like your planner or like a book or something there’s, definitely more room for that without it being too huge or overbearing, and you can actually bring this on the airplane, because I have actually gone on a trip a long time ago, where I had a book bag and they were like and a little Rolly bag. So I was like okay.
Well, that’s annoying because I had to empty everything out shove, it shove the book back into my suitcase, so it was really annoying. It sounds like I. Just don’t bring book bags anymore, so I’m, like I, just need something small that will pass as a purse anyway, anyway. Moving on from the back man, so this oh yeah I, forgot to show you guys what’s in here, though here I just actually have some gum and my headphones, and it may be like one more item in here. This is just a little front closure, where you can just put things that you just want to get usually and I feel like kind of filaments gum candy, maybe like a pen, you could fit a pen in there and stuff like that.
So so I hope you guys found this video useful I hope it was helpful for maybe purchasing your bag. I’ll leave all the links down below and you guys enjoyed this video. Please give it a thumbs up subscribe hit that notification bell. That’s a lot um, but I hope you guys have a good rest of the day. Rest, the week rest of the night or whatever you’re doing so, and thank you for watching.

The single strap design lets you rotate the atom for quick access. The 8 liter atom sling carries the fundamentals with ergonomic low profile, comfort and convenience.
Hey guys, what’s going on tea, cart well, just got in and just wanted to talk a little bit about my ADC and something that has been in my EDC for a while. Now by the way, my new Glock 43 video coming soon has been hanging out with me here so I’m going to set that aside and the good old, trusting, Mannix 2xl still haven’t done a full review on this review. Coming really awesome knife for the money so set that aside, but we’re going to be talking about the this kind of man.
First type thing: it’s the Patagonia Adam 8, liter bag. So on this one is in black and you can find in several different colors, but um I’ve seen everybody was kind of carrying those color bags and I’m. Like man. I know that’s kind of girly, but I’d like something for me to be able to carry and I don’t want to carry everything in my pockets, and this really has done a fantastic job of doing that. Um. Let’s talk about what’s in it and go from there, this bag by the way is about fifty bucks on Amazon.
So it’s got, it’s got. Three different compartments got the this little top. This one is obviously this bigger compartment, and then it also has this odd thing: that’s technically made for a cell phone and I keep it a few different things in here. It has a side, strap that you can pull out of here, I just tucked that in and it just goes right back there, and this also sits flat across your back, but it’s a really awesome little little bag. Let’s talk about, what’s in it and what what I’ve got kept in it right here off so also it comes with this kind of buckle, same thing like as the cobby’s buffer.
Alright, let’s get this out first thing: I’ve got in here is a light, just something that something might carry with me. It’s not too bad. I used to have my little stylus, but that has been dropped in the lake still have yet to go. Get that so you’ve got that. Let’s see what else we’ve got, we have got a bit clutter for fire, starting, you never know when you’re going to need one. So it’s super easy. Just threw that in here and also it’s been cold lately, I think it’s a I think it’s about 18 degrees warm out right now, and some chapstick is always essential.
All right, so we’ve got that. Let’s see what else this top one we’ve got. The wallet we’ve got Altoids, which also has actual outputs in an outlet scan, is really cool in survival. We can do so many different things with it fire, starting when you you can actually make a you actually take some cloth and do some char cloth with the now twisting. So not a bad thing to have just all the way around and also, if you didn’t see it, I’ve got some I’d a cool. So if I’m starting to feel bad.
Take that real, quick, that’s all in that little thing right there all right now kind of get into the nitty-gritty um. What you can see here, let’s take a look got. My checkbook I’ve got my planner. This has got all the stuff that I’m doing you know days I’m off it cetera I carry a planner because I was trying to keep everything. My phone it just wasn’t working out. Um writing stuff down, really really helps me, and it’s just so easy where I can just say: okay, what am I doing here and I can say: oh I’m working here, I’m doing that, etc, etc.
So keep a planner. If you can all right. Let’s see here next thing, I’ve got is my passport I got this when I was obviously going out of the country. If you don’t have a passport, it’s really good get it so have it when you please, just just have one if you can, but have that with me at all times also have an MRE. If I ever found myself stranded in any situation, I have beliefs got some food got. Some calories also have some little snack little great value. Chewy bar alright also have little tablet, which is fun, to have just kind of connects me to the Internet.
If mine doesn’t drain, my phone battery I can use this play some games, etc. Also got this for Christmas, this old-school gameboy color and playing some Pokemon and handsome Donkey Kong takes just racer good, old-fashioned, double-a batteries, but it’s been a lot of fun, also just something to screw around with all right back to prepping stuff, oh yeah, and have some Chargers, and you know pop some- have some chords just to play that stuff. Alright have a actual fire and Flint uh again.
This is something carry with me. If anything bad happens, if my big tire goes out, you know something bad happens. I can start start a fire with this, and I’ve actually got my Leatherman Wave with me, or excuse me, wingman and in this bag. I can really just do whatever have this, but also I’ve been using the knife on this to start to really get it see been using this blade. Primarily, you know you can use this for anything, but this blade right here. Let’s see if I can get a quick spark here, yeah get a really really good spark with it and works really really well.
So we’ve got that also I’ve got some eye. Drops that I carry with me. Have some dry, especially in the winter, so it’s good to have that I’ve also got knife. This is a cold steel, recon 1 micro, great little, not for the money. So it’s one of those things where I think these are like 20 30 bucks. These work great also have a tea bower version of a Swiss Army knife classic. This is the one where it has. The scissors. Has the knife love it little thing and of course it’s got the it’s got the fingernail file so great little thing.
Well guys and that’s it. Um extremely lightweight bag really really good um. If you’re considering carrying something like this I highly recommend it it’s way better than carrying a fanny pack and I know there are some other youtubers man I think these works really really well and blend in a lot better than a fanny pack. Alright guys this is tea. Carps I know.
Hey your money’s been, this is Betty’s boardroom. Welcome.
So, look if you’re after a little commuter bag or a little day pack that you just wanna carry a few things.
You can add a little hike or something you want to have.
Hey everyone, so this is November. First Pennsylvania, it’s in the low seventies I’m out for a bike ride on my mountain bike. I really use this more for real to trail riding, but I just wanted to show you the Patagonia Adams sling bag in a real world application, so the Patagonia sling bag fits absolutely perfectly on my rear bike carrier.
I’ve just got a little cargo net, that’s securing it! But it’s just like almost meant for this. So I’m gonna get it off of the carrier and I’ll be right. Back and I’ll show you what what all I’ve got in here to give you an idea of what it can hold and how useful it is. Like a personal item, carry bag.
Okay, so I’ve got the Adam off of the bike carrier, there’s just a look of edit with without the bag strapped down there. So this is what you can fit in the Adam sling bags. There’s a couple versions of the Adam: this is the sling bag. They also make a traditional backpack, but um. So on the front. You’ve got your a little like lash down points and I’ve just got a marmot windbreaker that I had slashed down there, and then we’ve got the first of two pockets for car keys, job, okay and then the main compartment.
That’s my wallet rescue inhaler, and then this is the what’s a surprise. For me, at least in the main compartment, you can fit a growler, a 64 ounce, hydro flask easily in there. So that is really nice, because I had been considering buying a purpose. Mate sling for that 64 ounce, growler to use in place of maybe biking with a camel back or going on a hike with a camel back, as the hydrofloss just does such a superb job of keeping things cool or hot.
So it really fits absolutely perfectly in the main compartment of the swing bag. So that was a pleasant surprise, so in in a sense by buying the Patagonia Adams sling bag, you were getting a Hydra glass, growler, sling or probably just Santa growler would fit in a no problem, you’re getting something that can be used very well as a cargo bag.
On a back bike, rack and you’re also getting an ideal size for a personal carry-on item, or maybe airplane travel or even if you just need something to pack some stuff to work or whatever it might be. So I was a little bit skeptical of this or what it is. It was pricey they retail for I believe about the $60.
You can find them in the mid 40s it’s during some sales. So alright, that’s my look at the Adam. If you have any questions, just post them below. Please subscribe thanks for watching.

Hey guys, thanks for tuning in to another Patagonia Arbor pack, as per usual, we’re gonna start off with sustainability, then performance and, last but not least, the quality onto sustainability. This backpack is made from a hundred percent recycled polyester. If you want to read more about how this benefits our planet, you can scroll below to check out the full written review. As for the performance, as we’ve said, it is a 25 meter and even though it’s called a daypack, it actually fits way more than you could ever imagine for a little day, adventure.
We have a little experiment to see how much we could actually fit into this backpack. So, as you can see from the video that’s playing right now, we tried to test the limits on how much we could actually fit into this backpack. We had a table full of gear and just like magic. We stuffed it all in very comfortably you in terms of comfortability, we loaded the backpack over ten pounds of gear and walked throughout the city for three miles and at the end of the day we had no pains in our shoulder or our backs.
So the main compartment is a bucket style which makes it easy to get things in and out of there and inside there is a 15-inch laptop sleeve, there’s a main zipper pocket in the front, as well as a secret one when you open the fold. So when you flip the top over there’s two clips that lock to secure all your gear when we got to quality, this backpack has been treated with DWR and polyurethane, which mate said, scuff, blemish and water-resistant. We toss it around all over the city of Seattle airports, airplanes, cars commutes to work.
What have you and, as you can see, it’s still in perfect condition, and although it’s not waterproof, it still handles prints through Seattle raining. So that’s it for our overall review of the Patagonia Arbor classic pack scroll down below to see more in-depth written review thanks for tuning in guys.
That heritage, aesthetic going on and we’re going to dive into all the details in this video I’m Tom, the founder of Pack Hacker, and we love helping people optimize their travel experience with guides and reviews. Just like this video So, if you’re new to the channel, consider subscribing Let’s jump right into the Arbor Pack review, [upbeat, music, playing] Before, we jump into this review. I want to say that Hannah, our staff content strategist, really loves this bag.
And she’s been using some variation of it for about the last three years and counting as her primary pack Additionally Lauren Hom an artist and an illustrator has used the Arbor Pack for over a year of perpetual travel around the world. So we’ve definitely seen a lot of great usage with this pack and we are excited to dive in and share that with you, [upbeat music playing] Between, the top loading functionality, the buckles and a lot of the straps going on Patagonia definitely keeps it in line with that classic heritage.
Look We polled our Instagram audience on what they think of the aesthetic overall, and here are the results Be sure to go. Follow us on Instagram (we’re @packhacker). If you want to be involved in future aesthetic polls just like this one Over the years the Arbor Pack has been offered in many different color waves. We’ve got black navy and this funky violet, yellow color as well. Covered in patches, The material of the newer Arbor Packs is 100% recycled, polyester, that’s bluesign, approved and also solution.
Dyed for added sustainability, The exterior polyester is 600D to add a little bit of durability and the interior is a finer 200 denier. Polyester We also have DWR polyurethane coating for some added weather resistance Typically. We prefer nylon over polyester for some added durability, However with the three Arbor Packs and a lot of usage. Seen we haven’t seen that many aesthetic scuffs happen over the course of the usage period.
We’ll get more into that a little bit later, And for any of our keen viewers out there. The newer version of the Arbor Packs do not have any leather lash tabs on them, making them a little bit more sustainable as they don’t use any animal products From a branding perspective. There are two logos on this thing. One is in the front here and another is on the back where the strap is Not. A bad one to represent Patagonia is a forward-thinking and sustainable brand We like what they do with their repairs, their ironclad guarantee their education and how they give back to the community.
Lastly Patagonia features durable, YKK zippers throughout the entirety of the pack and plastic duraflex buckles. Another great choice: The exterior of this pack is simplistic and minimal, and there’s not a ton going on on the outside of this pack. Let’s, kick it off with the harness system and the shoulder strap with Patagonia’s human curve registered trademark. Shoulder straps They’re comfortable offer a decently high-density foam and they curve to your body as well, which is always a bonus.
There’s no sternum strap on this thing, which is kind of disappointing;. However, you do have two loops going on here. If you’d like to add any carabiner clips to them, You could possibly rig up a sternum strap if you wanted to as well There’s also a waist strap which isn’t that comfortable and doesn’t offer a lot of support. Is is decent to have? Sure, but it doesn’t offer a ton of support Often times. We just have this clip behind our backs, while we’re wearing the pack and don’t utilize it that often With it hidden.
We offer elastic keepers which help hide excess. Straps Those keepers are detachable and we have lost them on two different occasions with two different packs However. In both instances, Patagonia has sent over a replacement And. Of course we contacted them from an anonymous email address. The back of the pack offers a foam quasi-frame sheet, that’s still flexible, since it’s broken up into three different sections: It’s about half the padding as what the straps offer You’re not going to get a ton of support with this harness system and setup However, it’s decently comfortable for what the pack is -, just a flexible, simple heritage pack On the top we’ve got a hook that keeps this thing off of grimy airport bathroom floors, As well as you’re just able to hang it up.
You know on a branch or just on a hook wherever you might see fit, Then, there’s a bit of reinforcement on the top here, where the straps connect to the pack Toward the back. We also have an ice axe loop, which is again a nod towards that classic heritage style Lastly. There is a singular small MOLLE-like loop if you’d like to attach any additional accessories or a carabiner, something like that. You won’t find any side or water bottle pockets here, which for us is a big con.
We think this could have been nicely integrated without sacrificing the look of the pack too much and we’re curious as to why Patagonia did not do this in their design. Moving on to the interior of the pack, starting with the first pocket – we’ve got a horizontal zip going on here right below the top flap Inside. There is paracord loop here for anything like multi tools, keys, anything like that And. It matches the paracord across the rest of the pack Also.
Just as a note, this paracord style changes up based on the colorway as well. So, a nice touch by Patagonia there on their varieties of Arbor, packs, One, small annoyance or security feature with this pocket is that the compression straps can get in the way of these zips So. On one hand, it can make it a little bit harder to open and maybe that’s a good thing for a thief that just wants to go for a quick grab here, There’s a bit of a security feature that you can set up if your bag is fully loaded and you have the paracord to the left of that compression strap Unclipping.
These duraflex buckles you’ll get access to the main liter volume of the pack But. First, on this top flap, we have a zippered compartment that goes down basically the entirety of the top flap And. From our perspective, within two years of testing, multiple different packs, we really haven’t figured out how to fully utilize. This pocket Patagonia suggests tossing your wallet or your phone in here and arguably it’s the most secure pocket of the pack However loading.
This thing up with anything too bulky or heavy, makes the top flap a little bit unwieldy to open up and flip out Access to the main compartment is cinched down by a drawstring That helps with additional water resistance in the pack with that top loader down And. Arguably, it’s a bit of a security feature, making it a little higher effort to get into the main compartment of the pack And. When we open this thing up, the main compartment is basically a giant bucket So.
This is optimal for use with packing cubes, if you have them, -, really great for modularily packing – and if you like, a bag with not a ton of internal organization. This could be great for you The. One thing: that’s on the inside is the slightly padded laptop compartment with a false bottom In. The newer Arbor Pack, the laptop pocket, is diagonal, making it a little bit harder to get laptops in We like the design of the older Arbor Packs.
Better It was a little bit easier to get laptops in and out. The diagonal pocket can also be used as an insulated hydration pocket for a hydration pouch At. The time of this review, we have been testing the Patagonia Arbor Pack over the course of years Normally. We prefer nylon for some added durability. However, the polyester that Patagonia has chosen to use has also worked out really well From, a real-world usage perspective Hannah our staff content strategist has been using this one over the course of about three years and collecting patches everywhere, she’s been to She, digs it for the simple style and has carried everything from textbooks during college to everything she needs for weekend, trips across the state or longer trips across the globe.
Lauren Hom, a lettering, artist and illustrator- had been using this pack for over a year of perpetual world travel During her perpetual round-the-world trip. She was a very minimal packer, taking along mostly dresses for warmer climates Also. She kept her illustration and tech gear inside of the pack, so she could work on the road. She didn’t even use packing cubes and opted to stuff everything inside of the main liter compartment.
Everybody’s travel style is unique and different, and that totally worked for her Alright so to wrap this thing up with some pros and cons. – the different color liner inside helps you see and organize the gear inside of the pack The combination of the drawstring and buckled top flap work well as an added security feature and for weather resistance, This pack utilizes a recycled polyester, that’s sustainably dyed, so we always like, when packs, take a sustainable approach in their creation On to some of the cons -.
There are no side pockets in this thing, so it’s going to be a very minimal external feature set The pocket on the top. Flap is a little bit hard to utilize, especially for items that are heavier and larger We wish there was a sternum, strap and an option to stow or hide away the hip belt The Arbor Pack offers a solid, no-frills, carry experience in a classic heritage style Although. We wish there were water, bottle, pockets and a little more to the harness system.
This pack could be great if you’re, looking for something lightweight, minimal and streamlined in the heritage style. Definitely a unique combination, to say the least Thanks for taking a look at our review on the Patagonia Arbor Classic, Pack, Be sure to head over to packhacker com/newsletter sign up for our newsletter and never miss an update. We’ll see you in the next video [camera bleep] Arbor Pack baby Let’s. Do this Seen a lot of usage Just like this one.
So if you’re new one If you’re new one?, [laughs], [groans], [upbeat, music, playing].
Front loader that carries what you need for the day. We make it with a durable 100%, recycled, polyester solution, dyed fabric with a polyurethane coating and a durable water. Repellant finish to repel moisture the main compartment carries a day’s worth of goods and features are raised. Padded laptop sleeve to protect your 15 inch computer from hard knocks a zippered pocket on the front panel. Keep small items like your phone and sunglasses handy padded, human curved, shoulder straps, provide all day, ergonomic comfort for cruising through town or hiking, an open country.
It’s an open-and-shut case for lightning-fast access stuff your gear in and go with our Arbor Day pack, 20 liter.
Back to school, backpack review for you, this is a Pedigo Nia, Arbor grande barber series from Patagonia is kind of retro throwback to just a classic styling backpack, nothing crazy, nothing, technical, not a lot of doodads or gadgets, it’s just a backpack and it’s a kind of a retro looking one at that. So let’s get into this backpack, why it’s cool? Who it’s for and some basic functions. So this is the largest backpack in the urban lineup, the Grande and, as you can tell here, nothing too crazy about it.
Yeah one pocket here, my zipper, you know easily fit notepad in here, pen and paper stuff like that, and then one pocket up top. You get nothing too crazy. Just a pocket and now put your keys and snack on shades of grey the main pocket two clips. Then you go drawstring to tighten things down so far. Nothing that incredible! Oh- and there is a sleeve in here as well, to hold laptop so got you cover there. It’ll hold a 50 inch laptop put my macbook pro in there and it fit no problem.
So so far, nothing really to write home about just a basic backpack capable of carrying your laptop and all your school supplies and all that fun stuff. But what is really cool like this backpack? And hopefully they market this a lot, because this is cool the bottom portion zips open. So you can put other things in here. So what I found this useful for was for going to the gym like a full day of work. Thank you all my work gear, clean clothes in here and then after training or after working out, you can put your not clean clothes down here and keep them separated from the main compartment so that right there is the game changer for us.
So a percent normal backpack, nothing crazy, but that function right there. It’s going to allow you to use this backpack for a full day of school college, high school whatever or urban community. It is a nice. You know robust material, thick nylon, ultra lightweight zebras are not super skinny that are very functional, so I think that’s a really functional day bag for people who are going to transition from exercise to to work or to school. So you can carry it like I, said the dirtier clothes down here, separated from the clean clothes and your lunch and a lot of stuff.
This is the bigger the biggest version of the backpacks in the harbor lineup. So there it is Harbor grande. One last feature: I can’t leave out to stretch water bottle pockets right there, so you can easily fit in the 30 ounce range. I barely got my 40 ounce water bottle in there, but you can’t fit it in there. So you could have a sports drink over here water bottle over here something else over here. Water ball here use your magic and as far as technical features, there basically are none.
There’s no load. Lifter adjustments. There’s there is a hip belt. You want to call it that I think I probably cut that right off, but um it’s there. So that’s not! The main purpose is this is not a backpacking backpack. This is a school bag. In my humble opinion, it’d be a really good school bag for anybody that wants to keep its clean clothes separate from dirty clothes, simple, as that so patagonia, arbor grande backpack, this guy right here, wild links below or a purchase some best prices and anything so Shawna Lu thinking me calm, hope that is helpful and taking care.

Liter, this versatile little pack is equally at home, commuting to work as it is on the trail. It stands out to me because of the 100% recycled materials, the burly, weatherproof fabrics and the smart organization. Let’s check it out, the 25 litre capacity means you can just throw in the essentials for what you need for the day. This would be a great commuting pack, because the fabrics are so weather resistant. It’s made of recycled 300 denier, polyester rip, stop which has a TPU film laminate to keep water out, and it has a durable water repellent finish on the outside.
That just increases the durability and the weather protection. It’s not waterproof, so don’t submerge it, but it sure is weather resistant. Hey Chris here I know, I mentioned love Patagonia and their bags, specifically their black hole line. So today, I’d like to take a look at their black hole, 32 liter pack, so let’s go ahead and jump right into this. To start with, I would like to take a look at some exterior features of this bag. So being from the black hole line, you will see that the black hole material is used on the majority of this bag.
As far as handles go, you’re gonna have one on the front of the bag and in your typical grab, handle on the back of the bag again. Looking at the front of the bag here, I’m gonna see some nice daisy chain to attach items if necessary. This bag does include two water bottle: water bottle pockets that should easily hold say a 32 ounce water bottle.
You will have one pocket on the front of this bag. That’s gonna give you some nice space. Anything you don’t have a smaller pocket on the top of the bag. That again gives you some pretty nice space that you can throw some quick grab items your battery, some cords, your cell phone, some snacks, thanks to that effect, so move it to the back of the bag.
Here, some nicely padded, backpack straps you’ll get a sternum strap. It does not include a waist strap and then, of course, on the backpack straps. Some connection points for items again if necessary, and then you will get some nice padding on the back of this bag. This bag does load from the top, and one thing I want to mention and we’ll look at this a little closer here shortly.
The back can also hold a laptop and possibly even a tablet. So let’s go ahead next and take a look at the inside of this bag, and I also want to show what we can pack inside as I mentioned. To start with. This is a 32 litre bag, so some nice space inside this bag, so I, do want to show what we can pack inside, but before I just want to show you a few of the interior features of the bag.
So again, the bag does low from the top. So here, why is it so when you do unzip? Hopefully this comes across, you will have 1 interior mesh pocket here and inside this mesh pocket. It will give you a place to connect your keys, so you can easily keep up with your keys and again just a nice large opening here, pretty basic besides your 1 mesh pocket.
So what can we possibly pack in this bag? So I do have a few items here that I want to show and I will start with the Eagle Creek clean, dirty, packing, cube and typically, what I have in here is gonna, be approximately 5 pair of rolled Hocking, pants and then I’ll have just a painting. You know maybe some t-shirts, socks, underwear, but normally socks and underwear, primarily so I- do have this stuff, pretty full, so I’m gonna slide this inside and now do have one of the go: necks, compressible, packing, cubes and typically what I’m gonna have it here is approximately 60 shirts.
Hopefully you can see inside the bag and then to finish up on this main space here. I’m, just gonna throw a pair of headphones in. This could easily be a toiletry kit as well, and really you could put both in here without any issue and even possibly a lot weight jacket on top, so we’ll zip this up and then on this top smaller size pocket here.
There’s plenty of additional room here, so I’m gonna take my pouch just gonna have my cords and wires and possibly a battery headphones or earbuds I should say can fit in here, and you want to show what this looks like when I have this packed and all I have with me currently is just a 16 ounce, Nalgene bottle and I want to show how easily this fits inside one of the side pockets here and that’s why I say you can easily put a 32 ounce water bottle in here so again, just to show what this looks like and then one thing I want to show here is I did mention that you can put a laptop in the back of the bag.
I want to show how that works, and another feature that I did fail to mention previously is that it looks like it does, have a place here: I’m guessing it’s for a water bladder can fit in here, and you can run your lot out of here, or even maybe an electronic wire like a some earbuds or whatever. If you have something inside like a love, an iPad so but this is gonna, unzip really gives you a very nice large opening here.
I love this. So it’s gonna have nice padding on the back part. That’s gonna have your items against it and some very nice padding on the part that goes against your back as well. If you think this is gonna, give you a couple of pockets here, and there is some lighting in here. So it’s not gonna scratch at least a smaller pocket, your item and then again, I’m assuming this is probably for a water bladder, but you could definitely use it for say an iPad as well and as I mentioned just a second ago the fact you can run your line out the top of the the back as well, but again putting a laptop in here and just zipping this off.
It’s super convenient and again I did mention that there are no lockable zippers on this bag, though the next one I want to do is I. Do want to show what this looks like when I put it on my back and want to give some overall thoughts on this bag. A couple things I want to mention before I show what this bag looks like when it’s worn.
The first is I’m approximately 5 foot 9 around 200 pounds, so I wanted to throw that out. There also the backpack straps here, and if you recall what the backpack straps look like on the black hole, duffel bags. It’s gonna have this small section of daisy chain here. That again is nice to connect some items to, but the way the sternum strap on this bag kind of clips.
In here to me, it looks like these are gonna, be interchangeable with the black hole duffel, which I think is awesome, because to me that’s one thing: I’ve always thought would be nice on the black hole. Duffel is to have some way to push you a sternum, strap on there and again, the black hole duffle, whether it’s 45, 60 or even a larger bag, can get heavy and it’s nice to have your backpack straps kind of stay in place, especially if you have a jacket on like a puffy jacket, that’s kind of slick, so just nice to have that again just for the comfort level and to keep your bag from sliding off your shoulders.
In some situations, just wanted to throw that out. There I think that’s kind of neat and I’m hoping that up again, we might see that I’m, the black hole duffel at some point in the future. To finish up I didn’t want to give just some overall thoughts on this bag. This bag does retail for approximately a hundred and forty nine dollars and really I guess to hit on some of those pros and cons of the bag.
We’ll start with the pros: the pros of the bag to start with, adjust the material. This is that black hole material that we love so much. That’s nice, durable and should last forever so love that love the daisy chain. So whatever you need to connect to your bag, you’re gonna have the ability to do so. Like the fact you have a pocket here on the front of the bag.
Also, you have a pocket on the top and what I like about the pocket on the top. It doesn’t seem like the main compartment, eats into that. If you have a lot of items, which again is always nice I like these oversized water bottle pockets. So if I want to throw a 16 ounce for 32 ounce water bottle in there, it’s definitely gonna hold that with no issue whatsoever.
Thinking about the back of the bag again I. Do you think this is a comfortable bag like the backpack straps I, like the sternum, strap I? Don’t like to be the way they have included this back section for your laptop or an iPad or whatever device you want to throw in here like fat, it’s padded and again it keeps it separate from the interior of your back, which is good in a lot of situations in overall fill like all the different black hole.
Duffles I’ve looked at in the past that this is a very well-built bag, so just a quality product from from Patagonia. So what are some cons of this bag, and really just a few I can think of the first to me, and probably the the biggest con of the bag is just the prospect. This is again approximately a hundred and fifty dollar bag and at $150 there’s a lot of other bags on the market that you might want to consider even cheaper bags that could save you anywhere from thirty to fifty dollars.
So at 1:50 this is one of the more expensive travel. Backpacks I’ve had a chance to look at. So again, that’s probably the biggest comment I can think of the second con and again this is this is actually very modern and just the back of the bag, if you’re wearing this for an extended period of time. There’s no ventilation on this, so your back is probably gonna get hot.
So if you’re carrying it again for a long time or if you’re in a hotter climate, just know that your back is gonna get hot and another I guess con towards the back of the bag. Some people like having that waist strap on the bag and again this bag doesn’t have. It doesn’t even have the option to have a waist strap on here. So with that being said, I’m hoping that it comes across that I actually really really like this bag.
This is probably one of my favorite bags. I’ve had a chance to look at recently. The only thing I keep coming back to you is just how expensive the bag is. So, if you’re able to find this bag discounted- which probably is hard at this point, but if you can find it discounted or if you’re just like you know what processing and an issue for me, then I highly recommend taking a look at this bag.
Again, absolutely love the bag and you definitely recommend checking it out. As always. Thank you so much for taking time to watch please like subscribe and leave those comments again. Thank you. So much.

Life is hard. The women’s black hole, 23 liter pack will help keep things reasonable, even if your schedule gets ridiculous.
Hey guys so today we’re gonna be taking a look at the 32 litre, black hole pack from Patagonia, and this is actually the first bag that I’ve tried out from Patagonia and I know. This is a company that people really love and so far I can definitely see why it’s been a great experience. The black hole pack has a lot of great features. I really like the look. It feels really durable and it has an interesting size and shape that’s more compact than you would expect for a 32 liter bag, which makes it more usable for your day-to-day than you would think, but still a really capable travel bag, and so this is another great suggestion that came in the comments for one of my previous videos.
So thank you, as always for the ideas and the suggestions and I’m really excited to share this with you guys. So, let’s just jump in and take a closer look at the 32 liter black hole pack from Patagonia, starting out with the outside of the bag. It has a pretty nice outdoorsy look, although it has some webbing and straps on the outside. It isn’t overwhelming it doesn’t look too much like a hiking backpack, so pretty nice mix there.
The bag is offered in a variety of colors. I, of course, have the black version here, but it’s often in an orange or white, so you can definitely see the different colors that are offered on the company’s site. One thing I noticed about the black version here, and it seems to be the case with the other colors is that the outside is a little bit on the shinier side. So it stands out a little more than the bags that I like to use, but it does give it a feeling of being a little bit more weather resistant as far as the materials the bag is made out of a hundred percent recycled polyester, and it all has a DWR coating to make sure that your stuff is protected.
If you do get caught in some rain. On top of that, the bag has nice, YKK zippers all around. That also seemed to offer a good amount of weather resistance, so in general the bag is really well built. The materials feel like they’re, going to hold up to any sort of travel that you can throw at them, and on top of that, Patagonia has really good warranty and repair programs. In case you do ever manage to damage your gear, and one really nice bonus with the materials used here is that the bag is very lightweight when it’s empty.
It comes in at around a pound which is gonna, be great, especially if you’re trying to travel on airlines that have stricter weight restrictions and so moving on to the capacity as I mentioned earlier in the video. This is the 32 litre black hole pack. This is also offered in a 25 liter size, but I wanted to test out the 32 litre as that’s typically a size that I like to travel with, been really impressed with the overall size and silhouette and how much I’ve been able to fit into the 32 liter size.
This fits my body really well with the items that I currently have in here. I could definitely travel for a week or two and I’ve just really been impressed with how slim the bag looks. Even when it’s fully packed out, it never sticks out too much, which makes it very easy to stay mobile and just walk around crowded cities or jump onto a public bus or a train, and because the bag has a pretty small and slim silhouette.
Even at this 32 litre capacity, I found that it works pretty well for day-to-day use, especially if you have a little bit of a bigger frame, so just a really great balance on capacity and form factor here, even though this is technically the same size as something like the chrome Summoner pack, which we looked at pretty recently I feel like this is gonna, be able to hold a lot more and still not look any bigger.
Continuing along the outside I was happy to see that the bag has two external water bottle compartments, one on each side and this one I currently have the same water bottle that you’ve seen in all my other travel bag videos, and that fits in there pretty comfortably. The compartments are made out of a nice elastic mesh, so they come out a decent amount of. You want to put something a little bit thicker in there.
If you have the bag fully packed out, even though this is elastic, it can get a little bit tricky to fit thicker items in here. So even though my water bottle isn’t quite that big, once I’ve filled the bag out, it was a little bit harder to stick it all the way in on the front of the bag. You have a really solid handle. That’s gonna, allow you to pick the bag up very easily or just carry it while you’re walking around and then along the front.
There’s two rows of webbing that are gonna, be great for attaching things with carabiners. So I’ve used this to hang my Beats Studio wireless headphones when they don’t fit inside of the bag. This might also be a good spot to attach an extra pair of shoes so really like the additional versatility that this webbing adds. Moving on of the straps on the back paneling. So far, the bag has been pretty comfortable to wear the straps offer a nice amount of padding, they’re fairly thick and they’re soft on the inside.
They don’t have much of a messy material to help prevent moisture from building up, so that would have been a nice addition, but they do have a nice width and I really like the contoured shape for the straps. They really fit my shoulders well. In addition, the straps have an adjustable and removable sternum strap to help distribute the weight when you have a heavier load and although I haven’t had any issues yet this does feel like the type of system where it would be fairly easy for the sternum strap to fall off and get lost so just something to keep in mind, but, as I mentioned, I haven’t had any issues yet moving out on the back pedaling.
This has been pretty comfortable as well. It has a similar material to the strap. So it’s nicely padded, it’s pretty soft. It feels great against the back. One thing that I notice is that there isn’t that much elevation, so there’s not really much of an air channel here. So there is a tendency for moisture to build up when you’re wearing it with a lot of weight. So I definitely would have liked to have seen more air channels all throughout the back, paneling kind of like we see on the Tortuga set out bags which make it a lot more comfortable and less likely for your bag to get as wet while you’re wearing this for a longer period of time.
Throughout the day. The last thing I’ll mention here while we’re on the back, is that there’s this little hydration cord. So if you place a water bladder into the laptop area, you’ll be able to have water accessible throughout the day since we’re on the back pedaling I’ll go ahead and jump into the laptop compartment, so this bag has a laptop compartment that opens up completely flat, so it has a nice well-protected zipper that goes all the way around the bag and so opening this up.
This lay flat design is meant to be tsa approved from what I’ve heard from different viewers on the channel. It can be a little bit hit or miss with this feature, but in theory because the bag opens a flat. You can just place this on the security line while you’re going through the airport, and you won’t have to take it out and even if the airport security from wherever you’re traveling gives you a little bit of a harder time, it’s still easy to get in and out of a laptop area and I really like how it’s been implemented.
It offers a nice amount of padding and protection I really like that. It has a separate sleep for a tablet. So currently, what I have in here is my iPad Mini 2, and that fits in there pretty comfortably. This should be able to hold up to a full size, 9 or 10 inch tablet, but I might stick out over the top just a little bit. The tablet sleev offers a nice amount of padding, and it also has a soft fleece lining on the inside to help prevent against scratching and then moving on to the laptop compartment.
It has this nice strap to help keep your laptop in place and slipping out if you do lay it down flat, so that opens up easily and then this is meant to hold up to a 15 inch laptop. Currently, what I have in here is my 13 inch macbook pro, but you can see there’s a little bit of leftover space here for a taller device and one thing that I was really happy to see for both the laptop pocket and the tablet. Sleev is that they are elevated off the bottom of the ground.
So if you need to place your bag down or you Rafat, it’s gonna be pretty well protected and so pulling the laptop out. It offers a decent amount of space. The compartment doesn’t have the same fleece lining that we saw in the tablet sleev, so I do wish that that had been included to provide a little bit of additional protection. It gets scratching, but the back paneling does have a very nice thick padding.
The sleeve itself isn’t very padded, so I do wish that this offered a little bit more protection, but it does have a nice amount of elasticity. So if you have a little bit of a thicker device, it should be able to fit in here pretty comfortably, so pretty nice implementation and versatility overall in the laptop area, and it matches up well with similar compartments that we’ve seen in other travel bags jumping into the organizational options of the bag.
I really like the Patagonia chose to go with more minimal but effective pocketing. So on the front, there’s just one simple, quick access compartment with a side opening zipper. It offers a nice amount of protection and has this nice flap that comes over to add it, some additional water resistance and so opening this up. This is just a very simple taller compartment that offers a decent amount of space and so jumping into the items that I currently have in here.
First off I have my Apple Magic Mouse and then I have a lightning cable to charge my phone and then I also have my Kindle e-reader and even with the items that I had in there, I still have plenty of left over space. It’s would have been a good spot that there on something like my bag, smart, cable, organizer or maybe a laptop charger, and so because this is a larger compartment. If you put some smaller items in here, it can get a little bit disorganized.
It would have been nice to maybe have a slit pocket or two in here, but I’ve just been really impressed with how much space this compartment offers, even when the bag is pretty full and it’s just nice to have an area where you can quickly toss in some bulkier items or even your wallet and phone while you’re going through TSA at the top. There is another simple but very spacious, quick access compartment.
This has a nice wide opening. That’s gonna make this great for holding bulkier accessories and to be able to easily see everything that’s in the compartment at once, and so currently, what I have in here is my Ray Ban sunglasses with their case and then I also have my GoPro Hero, 3 plus, and then I also have my in case accessory pouch, which is the Dobb kit that I typically use when I’m trying to save a little bit of space.
This is even going to be a great spot for putting something like a larger pair of head if you want to carry them inside of the bag. So now with the compartment empty, you can get a better look at how much capacity it actually has. Even with all those items that I had in there, which are pretty bulky, there was still a little bit of leftover space if I wanted to throw something else in there. So no internal organization offered here no sort of felt lining or anything just very simple, but I really love having these larger compartments.
That let me organize things the way that I want to, and so the last pocket that we’re gonna be taking a look at is the main area, and although this doesn’t have a clamshell style opening it does open nice and wide, which still makes it pretty easy to pack out so with the wider opening. I can still have a pretty good feel of what’s in the main area. I can’t see all the way to the bottom, but it’s still pretty easy to get the items in and out and so jumping you know what I currently have here.
First off is a pair of Tom’s that I’d like to take with me on every trip. Next up, I have my smaller packing cube. That has my t-shirts and socks and smaller clothing items, and then the last thing that I have in here is the medium size, peak design, double-sided packing cube, which I’ve been testing out recently I’ve heard so much about this packing cube and so far I’ve been pretty impressed. It holds the same amount of stuff that the larger double-sided packing cube that I typically use hold, but it’s a little bit shorter, which I like which gives me a little bit more flexibility and how it can use the rest of the compartment so definitely excited to test this out with a few more bags now with the compartment empty or you can get a better feel for the space no sort of internal organization in this main area, just a very simple big bucket, where you can toss in a ton of stuff, even though I switched to the peak design, packing cube, I was able to fit the normal double sided.
Packing cube that I’ve used in all my other travel bag. Videos very comfortably. The last thing to mention in this area is that on the flap there is a small mesh zippered compartment that you can use to hold smaller accessories, that you don’t want floating down into the bottom of the bag, and so opening this up. I, really like that. The mesh makes it very easy to see what’s in the compartment nice amount of space here.
Currently, what I have is just a simple field, notes, notebook and then I also have a USBC hub for my touch bar MacBook Pro, and then on top of that, there’s just a simple lanyard, with a clip that you can use to hold your keys or in this case what I have here is my Gerber shard multi-tool, it’s a really great job in this main area and throughout the rest of the bag, of keeping things simple and making really smart choices with regards to design and use of space.
So, if you’re looking for something durable and versatile, that’s gonna work well in a ton of different environments, the black hole pack from Patagonia is gonna, be a great option to keep in mind and so to wrap up. It’s been a really good experience. Testing out the 32 liter black hole pack from Patagonia the bag has a great look. It feels really solidly built. It has some nice features and it comes in at a really good size, and so you can purchase this bag for about a hundred and fifty dollars on patagonia site and it’s a pretty reasonable price.
In my opinion, for the quality of bag that you’re getting and compared to a lot of the other similar bags in this price range, and so as I was testing this out, one of the first bag that this reminded me of was the North Face Caban. That was another really well-made. Backpack that had a slick minimalistic. Look it’s a little bit, slimmer and smaller than this bag. Here, the one that I looked at on the channel was about 26 liters versus the 32 liters that this one is, and it was also a little bit slimmer.
So it was harder to fit bulkier items, but I did slightly prefer. The look and organization of the Caban, backpack and I know that it’s offered in a few different sizes. So maybe one of the larger versions would be more comparable to this and how much it can actually hold and that bag came in and around 130 dollars. So, if you’re looking for something similar to this with a slightly more modern look, that’s gonna be a good option to keep in mind the next bag.
This reminded me of was the fjällräven raven 28, which we also looked at pretty recently. That was another very versatile bag that worked well for daily use or even for quick trips and had a lot of great organization. It was comfortable well built and it came in and around $100, so a little bit less expensive than this. That bag was about 28 liters, so it wasn’t gonna be able to hold quite as much as the 32 liters that this bag has.
But if you want something with a little bit more of a traditional look that has maybe a little bit more organization and is gonna help. You save a little bit of money. The fjällräven raven 28 is definitely gonna, be a good option to check out. Another Magnus reminded me of was the 2019 opposed this invisible carry-on, and that’s been one of my favorite bags that we looked at this year. It has a really great look.
It comes in at 25 liters, making it really good for your day-to-day or for quick trips. I’ve been really impressed with how much that bag can hold, and it definitely has a little bit more of a modern and professional look than this bag. So, if you’re looking for something similar to this, that’s gonna work well for daily or travel use, but also work well for the office. That’s definitely gonna be a good option to look into the next bag.
This made me think that was a 5-11 rapid, quad, zip pack, which is gonna, have a little bit more of a tactical look than this, and it’s not going to quite as big, but it’s just a really versatile bag that has a size. That’s gonna, work well for day to day use or even for quick trips. It opens up flat. It has a nice amount of organization, it’s very comfortable and durable, and it also comes in at under $100.
So, if you’re looking for something like this- and you don’t need as much space- and you want to save a little bit of money, the rapid quad, zip pack is gonna, be a great option to keep in mind as well another bag. That reminded me, a lot of this one was the cotopaxi alpha 28, which we featured a little while back. That was a very versatile kind of minimalistic travel backpack that open flat like a suitcase and the 28 litre version of that bag isn’t gonna be able to hold quite as much as this one.
It is offered in a 35 liter, but we haven’t featured that on the channel, but the 28 litre version is a really good size for traveling on airlines, with tighter restrictions. They’re still gonna be able to hold a decent amount of stuff, and on top of that, it has a nice look with a variety of colors and it’s really well made, and then the last option I’ll mention here is the nomadic travel pack, which we’ve talked about a bunch on the channel.
That’s been one of my favorite all-around bags of all time. It expands from 20 to 30 litres, making it really good for daily use or for quick trips. It has a lot of great organizational options: it’s comfortable its well-made, highly weather resistant, and, if you want a bag that can kind of do it, all you don’t mind paying a little bit extra. The nomadic Travel Pack is still gonna, be one of the best alternatives that I can think of for this bag.
Well, with all that being said, the Patagonia black hole pack holds up really well against all those bags, as I mentioned throughout the video. It’s really well built it’s comfortable. It has a nice amount of features, I really like the size, and on top of that, it’s just really great to see all the initiatives that Patagonia has as far as sustainable materials and practices. So if you’re already a fan of Patagonia’s products or you’re, just looking for a really solid all-around bag, that’s gonna have enough space for traveling I, definitely mind you guys check this one out and I’m definitely curious to hear what you guys, think of a 32 litre, black hole pack or any other bags that you’ve used from Patagonia.

Hey this has been welcome to Benny Ford room. This is one of my favorite backpacks by one of my favorite brands. Patagonia. This is the Patagonia black hole backpack. This is a 25 liter version I liked how to going you, because their stuff is sturdy as hell. Nothing ever goes wrong with it. Built to last is kind of a mantra that they live by and they also have an element of social responsibility which is awesome.
This 25 liter black hole backpack is waterproof its rip proof it’s just about everything proof, but yet it’s super comfortable. It’s an awesome day pack for everyday use. You can use it in the city you used to take to school. You could take that on the trail. You could take it to Everest and handle to spend anything for the exterior, the Patagonia black hole. Backpack 25 liter is made of 13 ounce 4 50 denier, 100% polyester rip, stop for the TPU film laminate for durable water, repellent finish.
This thing will send most weather conditions that you’d ever want to be in how to go in black hole. Backpack feature this awesome bucket style opening for easy access to a surprisingly spacious main compartment inside you’ll find all sorts of holders for pretty much anything you can think of including a padded laptop sleeve for a 15 inch laptop on the top of the bag inside the flask.
There’s a handy, zippered pocket for smaller items such as the phone wallet or your passport. So you don’t have to open up the bag to get to it. How do you make some of the most comfortable and durable technical backpacks on the market? This features a heavy-duty molded back panel and padded shoulder harness straps and the sternum strap. This pack is a pleasure to wear all day long.
It’s almost weightless on the sides. You can see these stretch woven pockets that hold a wide range of water, bottle, shapes and sizes. The best part is once you pull the water bottles up. They sit flush against the pack. The top mounted reinforced hull handle makes it easy to carry this in transit. One of my favorite features, though, about the padding and black hole.
Backpack. Is this sneaky front zipper? It looks like it shouldn’t. Even be there, but it opens often it’s the perfect size for a notebook or tablet plus you’ve got this nice row of durable nylon handles perfect for a carabiner or anything that you might want to strap it from the pack. So, from the trail to your urban commute to a trip up and down the coast, this Patagonia black hole backpack, this being the 25.
A bigger version is about as good of a backpack as you’re going to find anywhere. It’s sturdy. It’s comfortable! It’s practical! It’s super light. It’s a great all-around AIPAC.
What is going on everyone connor here from gear reviews bringing you another installment in the Patagonia black hole, 25 liter mini series today, we will finally see how well this bag does when it gets. You know water on it and how well it withstands and holds up to it, sort of in like a rainfall scenario. So it’s just gonna be a quick video. There’s not much I can really do other than put it on this water and then see how well it’s done. I have listened and I have some paper here that I’m gonna put in the backpack just to show the water a bit more.
If stuff gets in, as it is hard to do with just a towel doesn’t always show the water very well. So we have that and I’m pretty optimistic I think the Patagonia black hole bags are renowned and, as I, keep saying that durable water repellant finish should help hold up and keep that water out. But let’s just get right to it and see how well it does once we put it through the test. Alright, so we’ve got the Patagonia black hole bag here. I have just put a towel in it for shape just to see how well it does so.
You know, there’s no water in here now so I just have two normal pieces of line paper. It’s pretty obvious when these get wet it shows it pretty. Well. So, let’s hope that helps a bit alright. So I’m gonna put one piece of paper in here and then I’m gonna put some paper in here in this front compartment as well, just so that we really get an all-around feel for how well each compartment does when it gets water on it. So we’ll just rip one piece: you know conserving this one here and then the last piece we’re just gonna walk right in here.
Just try and get as much of the area covered as possible and then make sure we zip this up nice and tight all right, so I’m gonna make sure that all the zippers are completely closed up. We don’t have any issues like with the North Face borealis bag, so there we go all the zippers are done up and we’re ready to put it in and see how it does all right. So I’m just got it positioned as if you’re sort of walking with it. So your back would be right here. It would, you know, simulate a bit of a different feel and obviously this part doesn’t you know you usually get that wet when you walk so all right, so you can really tell that that durable water repellent finish here.
It’s just feeding right off. It’s basically as if it’s like a car or something I am focusing a lot on that nipper. So it’ll be interesting to see all right. So I think that was a fair bit of water that just got on this back part is come really much completely soaked, as well as the bottom, which I guess. I should have accounted for and put a piece of paper down there as well, but let’s open it up and see how we did all right. So, let’s start with this top compartment, as you can see, there is a lot of beating up on here and it did wash off really easily.
So that gives me a lot of hope. But I did you know, sort of just leave the water falling on here. So let’s just take a look all right, so there is some water, that’s for certain there’s, quite a bit of water. You can definitely see that so there’s there has been water come in there, I’m, not certain where it came in, but I guess one good thing is, you might be able to see. The water is just kind of pooled in here. So you know that’s I, guess a plus, because it’s not going to be seeping through and getting in other compartments, and that is the you know that rains pretty forceful, it’s pretty extreme and if we check this one, so this page is completely dry.
I guess now really the main component here is this big compartment and that page looks pretty bone-dry to me, which is amazing, I think that was probably a bit of a severe water test compared to the North Face borealis bag. So there’s no water in that bottom either. But let’s take the piece just sorta give it away. There might be some that’s dripped into it. Now, I, don’t really see much out, but again, you’re, not gonna. Leave your bags sitting down in the water in the rain, I, don’t think on an average occasion, so I think that’s fair to say that that’s a pretty impressive reaction to a pretty intense water test.
In my opinion, I think that we can give that a double thumbs up on how well it did that did not disappoint at all with the way it just beat it off and came right off of it. I know I say that with a lot of the bags and the way they do it, but if you really look at the way the patagonia bag had it just come right off of it as opposed to the North Face or even the Black Diamond they all sort of had a bit of you know the the bounce off, but with this you could really tell that it wasn’t even affecting it and that just completely was coming off of it.
So big props to Patagonia for being able to make such an amazing backpack out of recycled polyester. It’s just amazing that they’re able to make such a high-quality product out of you know recycled materials because a lot of the time you would think that might impair the quality of it, but clearly they’ve skipped no steps and it’s amazing, so definitely a bag to check out if you’re in the market, for one that looks like this or this kind of functionality, really. The only part that got wet was this front compartment here and I did leave the showerhead right on that top part.
So, probably not the most realistic to have it doing that, but you know those rain clouds that follow you around. They are pretty hazardous, sometimes, but I hope you guys have enjoyed this quick water test here. I’m really impressed with this bag. As I said, you know, I love the the Patagonia Company I’m glad that their bag is just as good as the rest of their stuff. I have some of their clothing and I think it’s absolutely amazing. All right, so I hope you’ve enjoyed this water test on the Patagonia black hole, bag, I, hope.
Overall, it’s helped. You guys figure out if this is a backpack for you or what you look for in a backpack so feel free to. Let me know down below if you have any follow-up videos you want on this bag. If there’s any other testing, I should do and also you can follow me on Instagram and Twitter I, occasionally post things about videos or different adventures, I’m on or outdoor activities- and we will see you guys later, oh boy, you.
Hey guys damper voyages back here with reviewing the Patagonia black hole, 25 liter backpack, real, quick before we jump into the features of this backpack. If you’re interested in other travel related gear, I’m gonna be doing an entire series of reviews on different travel, Laden items, so please do subscribe for more. Let’s get into the features with this guy. As you can see, this one is the black version, there’s several different colors available, as well as a different variation of black.
The ink black which I know what the difference is. I’ve had this bag for about two months now and I’ve used it pretty extensively in that time, so I originally purchased this bag to use as a day pack, while traveling, but also just kind of as a daily pack, so the bag itself weighs a pound and a half fruit size. It’s pretty lightweight. It also is very foldable compressible.
Now this backpack is a little bit bulkier and a little bit heavier than some day packs out there, but it’s got a lot of really great features which really set it apart from other packs, so starting with the outside. Here it’s got one pretty good sized zipper pocket this guy I like to keep. You know, outerwear, like rain gear, sweater stuff like that in there it’s perfect for that.
It’s also got several lash points here on the outside great for tying extra pair of shoes too, and then it’s got a really nice pocket right here on the top I’ve found this excellent just for carrying snacks around, while I’m traveling or, like I, said a headphones, something you need to access easily right here on the top. Now, as far as the inside goes, it is pretty good-sized in there it’s got several compartments on the inside.
It’s got a electronic sleeve. This is large enough to fit a 15-inch laptop. It’s also got the second pocket here on the inside, and this is meant to hold something like a tablet or an e-reader, and now both of these are going to be insulated. So they’re going to protect your electronics if your bags getting tossed around and then now for the other side of the pack- and this is where it really comes in handy for school- it’s got a couple spots for writing.
Utensils here it’s also got a spot, it’s great for storing, not only a phone but a wallet as well. So if you’re, someone who likes to not carry stuff in your pockets, okay, grace bust- for that it’s also got a little loop for a keyring, and then it has like a little mesh pocket here as well, which in your store, you know whatever alright. Now. As far as the back of the backpack goes, there are a couple of neat features, as you can see here.
It does have kind of these nice grooves in the back, and this is to help vent the heat away from your back I’d say: there’s a pretty good job. It’s not great. Additionally, on the back here, there is kind of a little area here where you can put a water bladder. So something like a Camelback. If you need it also, you can put your headphones through there as watch your phones inside your backpack, and then you will see here.
It does have chest strap, which I think is great, really helps, distribute the weight from the pack over your chest and your shoulders whenever I buy a new day pack. This is always a feature that I want. It does have a couple of other lash points here as well for clipping some small stuff too. Another feature I really like is these little elastic ties, it really kind of holds any extra straps here keeps me from getting annoying and then, lastly, on the outside here got a couple of good-sized pockets.
These are great for a holding a water bottle, tripod stuff like that. So overall I think this is a great day pack. It is a little bit heavier and bulkier than some. So, if you’re looking for something just for traveling, I wouldn’t recommend this, but if you’re looking for a great bag, you can travel with and use in daily life highly recommend the Patagonia black hole.

What is going on everyone Connor here video today, I really just wanted to give you sort of that final summary on the Patagonia black hole, 25 liter bag. Just my end, thoughts on it really. You know how I’m feeling about the bag and what I would want to use it for or if I even want to use it. So I figured we’ll do a quick summary video, let you know you know my final verdict on it and that way you have all the information to decide if this is a bag that you want to get and if you it’ll be good for sort of your day-to-day life or any adventures that you had in mind with it.
Alright, so, let’s just get right to it and we’ll go through my summary of the Patagonia black hole bag. Alright, so sort of the the overall first thought I have about this bag is I. Think it’s a really great bag. I, like the the back panel design, a lot I’m a fan of the way the straps are and sort of. The main thing that I took away was how amazing the water resistance. Was you know, I’ve done, I think that’s the fourth bag that I’ve done a water test on for you guys, and it really just the way it beat it off of it and ran off of the the material was really really shocking to see, especially with it being that recycled, polyester, so I mean that is a huge, huge thumbs up for this backpack.
In my opinion, as water resistance is something I really look for in bags, and you know, I was shocked by the way the North Face borealis bag did it, and this one was probably equally, if not more shocking other than the water resistance. The big thing that impressed me was that it was using recycled materials which, to me that’s a really big thing to do, especially with the way the earth is today. So I think. That’s amazing that this bag is held to such a high quality and perform so well, even with it being made out of recycled polyester, so that that again is a big plus in my books.
Alright, so the the sort of big negative that I have this bag is just the way. The main compartment set up it doesn’t really stretch that much it’s sort of set the way that is I do like my backpacks main compartments to have a bit of give to them, just so that you can adapt what you’re doing with it. So for me, really, the design of that main compartment isn’t a big win for me. I do have to give that part a thumbs down when I think about the way I like to pack things I like it to have a bit of that stretch to it just to allow for different things or for a different way to pack it just so that it can hold that bit more really, you know, there’s there’s two main pluses to the bag, and then one sort of downside in my mind, so with that I I, would use this bag as sort of an overnight bag or a weekend trip bag.
I, don’t think I would use this as a daily carry bag. I, don’t think it’s adaptable enough! I, don’t think it’s able to perform in the various scenarios or really hold everything you know if we look back at the way. The North Face borealis bag held all of those things. When I did my everyday carry test. I really think it’s. It’s got a much better use of its space and it’s much more efficient in the way it uses its space. So to me, I think this is a great bag for probably school sort of the university college student you’re gonna be able to put in what you need and take out really simply with that half clamshell opening you’re gonna be able to do that.
You know run the class. Do things like that and it has that stand upstraight feature I can actually have stuff in it, but that exempt T right now. But you know the standing up straight and that sort of clamshell are gonna, be really beneficial to students, I think and because, when your student, usually less is better. So it’s not as bulky it’s not. You know, gonna take up as much space in the lecture halls, but anything where you know you’re carrying a lunch all the time.
So you know high schools, elementary schools, even for working I. Don’t think I would use this for every day, but I would definitely want to use it when I go I’m. You know quick overnight trips to load all my clothes in or even like. We can get away to a cottage or camping, because I know I can depend on the material to you know, survive if it’s caught out in something but yeah. That’s that’s really where I think the bag lacks. Is that everyday carry efficiency of space, sort of adaptability, so for me, I would still stick with my North Face, borealis, backpack and I do plan to, but for this I do think it’s a really good contender for college university students and, for you know those short-term getaways because of the the ease and simplicity of it.
I think that’s where it’s going to benefit in those certain scenarios. So, overall that’s my sort of just quick thoughts that end of my Patagonia black hole. Miniseries. Let me know what you guys thought down below. I have seen a couple questions asking which I would choose and I really think it just depends on your scenario. It depends on what you’re using it for and what you really want to get out of it. So I hope you guys have enjoyed.
Please check out my Instagram and Twitter down in the description and we’ll see you guys later. You.
Video we’re taking a detailed look at the patagonia black hole pack, 25 liters, which I’ve been testing for the last two weeks head on over to packhacker com for the full written review link in the description below, let’s dive in okay, so we will start off just by covering some of the materials on this bag and, as the bag’s name suggests, this bag is made up of patagonia’s black hole fabric and what that is, is a recycled polyester rip stop and it’s this kind of shiny stuff on the front with a tpu laminated coating.
So it’s really weather resistant and we’ve had pretty good experiences with it. In the past, we like that it’s recycled patagonia does a really good job there and um. Personally, I’m not a crazy fan of how it looks this kind of shiny material, but all in all, it comes together to look pretty good, and I know a lot of people really dig um what patagonia have with their black hole.
So that’s the kind of bulk of the material there. As you can see, they’ve got some branding. There’s patagonia a little label on the front here, which is actually gives it quite a nice little look and the zippers are all ykk see around here, which is great. Had some good experiences with ykk really solid zippers should hold up and then hardware wise.
We have got duraflex, sternum, strap here and buckles and duraflex, just like ykk had good experiences with, and you know you can’t really ask for much more better hardware on a pack like this ykk zippers and duraflex hardware, so all good there when it comes to kind of materials. Um. Looking at the front here, we’ve got this daisy chain which I’ve just popped a little carabiner through.
So you can attach a hat onto the front, something like that. It is a kind of urban-ish kind of daypack, but as with patagonia, there’s definitely an outdoor element. You can take this on the trail and pack it up with loads of stuff and you’re good to go, and this kind of daisy chain gives that away and it’s cool to add some stuff um onto the front and also you’ve got this thing here, which could actually be used.
As a handle like that, I haven’t used that a ton, but you know if you’re grabbing this from the car um you just want to grab this. Take it out to your campsite, something like that. Then it’s pretty cool, that’s pretty much it from an exterior point of view. If we just take a look at the harness system on the back here and before I forget actually um just because I haven’t used it that much with a water bladder kind of trailing on from patagonia’s kind of outdoor um with this bag is there’s.
Actually a water bladder passed through, as you can see up, there sits into the back which I’m using as a laptop sleeve, but you can pop a water bladder in comes out through you can tuck it in between here and you’re. Good to go so definitely have made this with the kind of outdoor adventures in mind, but I’ve been using it as a kind of urban edc bag and it works pretty well as both to be honest, quite a versatile back then, when it comes to harry uh, carrie.
Sorry, we’ve got nice shoulder straps here, pretty much what you would expect and like to find on a 25 liter bag. You got a sternum strap, which you don’t always see on 25 liter bags and that’s nice. It can just secure it a little bit better, but your body definitely improves the carry and um yeah shoulder straps.
Really nice padding it’s a really comfortable bag to carry overall and the back padding. Even though there’s not a ton of ventilation. Maybe this back panel might help a little bit in the middle here, but really nice padding and it’s a pretty comfortable bag to wear. Overall, I’m definitely not too shabby. Then we will just pop it back over to the front.
As you can see, on the right hand, side here got a water bottle in the water bottle side pocket there pop that down there, and then we’ve also got one on the other side. Now they are stretchy. You can fit numerous sizes of water bottle in there they’re not the most secure. Obviously, if you’ve got a really big one, it stretches out, but they’re not crazy.
Deep. If you’ve got like a big 32 ounce, it’s going to pop out a little bit, it’s going to be secure and they are pretty solid. Water bottle pockets, but just know that they’re wide, not crazy, deep and they’re stretchy. So um, you know stuff could maybe jostle around a little bit. But overall, pretty good side. Water bottle pockets on both sides there and they helped add the aesthetic of the bag.
I think as well then we’ll take a look at the kind of compartments on the outside, so we’ve got one at the top there that I’ll just get into in a second and we’ve actually got one down this front of the bag, and sometimes a bag will have one on the front or one on the top. This has both and I’ve kind of just been using it to compartmentalize.
So in here I’ve just got some hand gel, and I have got a face mask as well and you can pop it actually covers this whole main area of the bag, so great for loads of different stuff. If you want to use it, I just haven’t been carrying anything that kind of fits this dimension, so I’ve just used it. As I know, this is where, like my face marking stuff is- and this is where my wallet and keys are so I’ll- zip- that back up there but really useful front pocket here, really nice integration into the bag.
Then, as I said before, we’ve got a front pocket here or top quick grab pocket. I should call it probably and in there I’ve just got my wallet and I have got my keys now. I’ve actually got this bag pretty jammed up, as you can tell when you do that, and the top pocket kind of eats up into the space a little bit, but I haven’t found it too hard, but I’ve got my keys there as well.
Usually I don’t have this bag as full I’ve kind of just packed it super full just to show how much it can hold and it can hold a really decent amount of stuff so put that back down there. Two really nice, quick grab pockets on this bag definitely been utilizing them a lot and I think it’s about time to get inside the main compartment.
So this is a top loading backpack and it’s this front kind of top area. Here it’s got this zipper. In fact, I’ll just cover um this top handle here is another way to carry it. Apart from the harness system- and this little front thing here um, this is pretty good. You know actually actually not that bad. You know if you want to hang this bag up or something this um.
You know nothing, fancy you’re not going to carry it around with this, but it’s a nice little addition for sure. Then moving back up, you can see it kind of zips around the top here and opens up like that. Now I’ll just take this out straight away, I’ve just got a little hoodie in there. So it’s getting cooler here in the uk, it’s always good to carry around an extra spare hoodie.
If you need another layer, then I’ve got a tech kit and the top there as well, which I’ll just pop down and then I’ve actually been carrying around with this bag. My um camera um internal camera unit, which is pretty big, doesn’t fit into all bags, but this one it fits really well so I’ve had it when I’ve been out and around taking photos so I’ll.
Take that out. It does fill up that space pretty well, as you can see, that’s a pretty decent size, so I’ll pop that down there as well and yeah 25 liters decent size of a bag. You know I’ve you can, if you’re carrying this around as a work, bag or you’re going on outdoor adventures plenty of space. Now I will add, when it’s not all the way, full, it’s a bit kind of crinkly and it kind of sags a little bit.
So I’m not a crazy fan of what it is when you’re not kind of packing this stuff out so definitely and be aware of that they do do different sizes and also different colorways of this bag as well. So take that into account. But just pick it back up here: we’ve got as I said that water bladder passed through here at the top and in the back there there’s also all the water pocket, but I’ve been using it as a laptop pocket.
Now this will fit 15 inch, laptops um. It won’t usually fit a 15-inch laptop with a case I found. I can’t get my case in here as well, and I will add it’s not the best laptop compartment. It’s not been made with kind of laptops specifically in mind this bag, um more so than you know less so than other bags, but they’ve obviously included it because it is a versatile bag.
Now, it’s kind of slanted a little bit if you can see that and I’ve just in all honesty, just had some troubles with being able to get it in it’s a little bit further down the pack, and this isn’t ultimately useful for a laptop, whereas more so with a water bladder. So yeah just note that, but it does hold 15 inch, laptops, no problem and then in the front it’s got another little pocket where I’ve just got a tablet.
So I’ll take that out there then, on the other side. Finally, there’s a little internal pocket mesh, which is nice in there it’s got a little key lash, I’m not entirely sure where you’d want that in that compartment. Now I haven’t been using this one: it’s just a little bit hard to access in all honesty, so I haven’t found and because I’ve got like tech equipment in like a tech pouch in the main compartment I haven’t been.
You know, haven’t needed to use that, but there is a mesh internal pocket there. It lays flat, if you don’t use it, but it is there and it’s nice addition to be fair, just a little hard to access overall and yeah that’s kind of the inside of the bag. There, we’ll zip it back up um. It is a little bit hard to find stuff at the bottom.
It does get quite dark in there because it’s a top loading backpack but yeah, that’s pretty much it. The patagonia black hole pack 25 litres head on over to packhacker com for the full written review, where you can also find the best buying options that support our channel at no additional cost to you. We will see you in the next video.
Hey everyone connor here from gear, have seen your guys comments. I have read them and you want something other than North Face gear, which I can completely understand so today, as you can already tell we’re, looking at something from Patagonia, which is another brand I love, they have a lot of great products and they’re definitely ethical and their production and the way they make things. So that’s a that’s a huge thumbs up right.
There alone, you can already tell that a company’s doing well, if they’re willing to you know, invest in ways and strategies to help the environment, and this is sort of one of the flagship things that they do as well and that’s make things out of recycled materials. So today we’re looking at the Patagonia black hole, 25 liter backpack. So let’s get right to it and take a look at this awesome bag. Alright, so in the tag just to know, it does say, recycled polyester on it, so you know they they are using those different materials and then they’re doing that, and it says using this, makes the product lessen our dependence on petroleum as a source of raw materials and reduces waste compared to using non recycled polyester.
So it’s really just helping out in the long run, and you know it doesn’t look any different and the material is just as sturdy and Patagonia stands behind it just as much as they would something else. So, there’s not really any difference but they’re helping the environment at the same time. So you know it’s great to see. Companies do that I know ten trees, another big one that does that with using recycled water bottles and stuff to make thread for different things.
So great note on that, but let’s get to the details of the bag just to give you an overview of it and then we’ll come back another time to look at. You know how it holds things and how it does against water. The black hole bags from Patagonia are really known for being water resistant and having that durable water repellent finished, all right, so start off we’re just looking at the outside here it does have that sort of webbing and strap stuff on the front for you to attach things to right.
Here’s a big one, a couple smaller ones and then at the bottom they’ve got another a smaller one there, but and then, if you rotate to the side, there is a sort of flap here with nothing on it, but then moving over to this side, this flap out of zipper are you gonna, go in and put some things in here. You know anything. You want to access really quickly on the bag. You can just unzip it dive in there and grab it.
It also does with having that flap here that you can see it all sort of like that. It’s not going to interfere too much with the main compartment of the bag. It’s gonna! Let you still use it and it’s not that thick, that you’re gonna be stuffing, and you know a sweater in there and then trying to fit stuff in the main compartment and you’re not gonna, be able to. If we move up a bit, you come to the other outside pocket.
That’s right here! This is another quick access pocket that you’re gonna be able to you know, put keys or sunglasses or glasses phones. Anything like that you’re gonna be able to access it really quickly when you need to- or you know, maybe use it as a pencil case, if you’re in class or something you’re able to just throw those in there instead of having to lug a pencil case around it inside the bag with you, if we move to the side, we have the two pockets here for water bottles.
It is really tight, webbing right now, just because it’s brand-new, so the bag hasn’t been used. It’s not been stretched out at all. It’s you know fresh and unexposed to any adventures or tests that we may put it through. So those will eventually you know it’s banned a bit and allow you to carry a bit more in that pocket. It’s just so brand new that it’s not really used to it. If we move then to the bottom of the bag, you’re gonna see that different material as I like to call out it’s just companies are realizing now that you know people use the bottom of the bag a lot and those are usually the places that fail so they’re putting in a more durable material.
You can see it sort of. You can tell the difference, obviously in it from one to the other, but you can sort of see and hear that difference to it. It’s gonna be more durable, it’s gonna last longer and when you know you’re scraping it across the ground or you’re, putting it there and then Falls and stuff you’re, not gonna, have it. You know, create holes or get worn out as easily and also you’re, probably gonna, be able to resist some more water and moisture with it, because it is that tougher material.
So you know great to see that that’s been included in this. They thought it through and they they’ve even gone one step further, really and they’ve brought it up higher around the whole bag. Here comes up to here so that it’s still gonna sit, and if it is, you know in a bit of rain or snow or something it should protect it that even bit more because it’s coming up past just you know that bottom itself, so that’s a big plus and on the other side there is any other water bottle pocket.
If we move right along to the back panel, I’m, actually quite a fan of the wave, how to go near those their backpack back panels, it’s very simple, its padded, it’s comfortable and it sort of has that moisture, wicking effect to it, but they don’t overdo it as a lot of companies try to compete with ones like North Face, where they have. You know the fancy webbing and padding Patagonia is like hey. You know what we have our thing: people like it, we’re gonna, do it that way.
So you know it is just simple padded. It’s comfortable on your back and those shoulder. Straps are quite small padding, but it is comfortable padding from my experience with them and they again have the straps as this is a water bottle double backpack, so you can put that water pack in the back of it and you’ll be good to go. Two note on the sternum: strap it does move up and down into the variable locations is a really simple and small one.
So it’s not as bulky and so I can be in your way. If you don’t want to use it and then there is no waist strap. So that’s a nice thing to have, because you can just take off the sternum strap and you have no straps on your backpack and it’s quick and simple and you’re good to go another one of the things I love about Patagonia is the simplicity of things. You’ll find a lot of the time with any of their gear or their clothes.
It’s usually very simple. Looking and it’s not got. You know too much going on with it so that you are just getting you know what you need and you don’t have to try and you know, make things work or you know worry about different small things you can just use it go out, explore adventure, do whatever you’re doing and get along with it. So if we take a look at the inside, that’s exactly what they’ve done. They have a you know, sort of small clamshell opening here I do wish.
It went down a little further just for easy loading. But if we look right in the inside there is just this small pocket here which I’m imagining is just to keep some of the smaller items up near the top. They have a keychain attachment. So again you know going right there with that. Then you’re not digging through the bag, to find your keys, that’s pretty great, and it really is just a giant open pocket here you know it’s clearly: 25 litres is just right in there.
Basically you’re not really getting anything else going on in there, but you could easily fit enough for a weekend. You know get away in there or you know, going up to the cottage or all of your school supplies. I would think fit in here. I know that some people I know fit everything that they need in their Patagonia backpack for school and then also you’ve got a spot here for a tablet or book or journal or whatever it is, and then also a laptop could easily fit here.
It is just allowing you to use it the way you want it. You’re, not. You know competing, as you know, sort of a big problem that people see with the North Face bags is that from the compartment that impedes into the main compartment it you know, has all that organizational stuff and it’s heavy and it pulls the bag down, and it you know, prevents you from putting you know a big sweater in here, but I really do like that about Patagonia.
That’s one of the things that dreamed of them as a company in the first place was the simplicity of it. That’s been the Patagonia black hole, bag, 25, liter, size, I, hope that you guys have enjoyed the video. It’s just a quick introduction, like I, said we’re gonna, you know, do another video packin it full of stuff to see how well it holds. Everything will do one doing a bit of a water test and then we’ll also do some sort of real life test so that you can get the whole picture of the bag and see how well it works in different scenarios.
That way, you know if it’s right for you and whatever adventures you’re gonna get to, but in the meantime, I hope you guys enjoyed this video and we’ll see you later boy. You.
What’s up guys, this is Levi and I am from shop and we are gonna talk about the Patagonia black hole pack not to be confused for their brown hole pack. Make sure guys if you want this as a gift and you’re showing it to someone make sure you. Let them know that you like it in the black because they might ask you, do you like it in the black one or do you like it in the brown? So first thing you’re to notice about this back pack is the material that’s on the outside. It is a heavy-duty polyester rip, stop material with DWR coating all around it, which makes it water-resistant not waterproof, because the zippers aren’t taped.
None of the seams are taped and the back up here isn’t water repellent, but it’s great backpack if you’re walking around I in the light snow or in the rain, not heavy duty rain and yeah, it’s good riding backpack. So another thing about this outer fabric- it is blue sign approved, which is basically it’s a company in Switzerland that goes and it approves fabrics buy some of the stuff they’re looking at is the chemicals that are going into it is: are they environmentally friendly? The factories that are making this fabric? Are they paying their workers? Well they’re taking care of people? Is it? Is it not a great impact in the environment? Those types of things there’s a lot of other brands that go to the extent to make sure things are blue seal approved because that little mark blue seal approved lets us know that okay, this is like high-end and they’ve done their due diligence as far as making it safe for the environment and good from start to finish so so one thing: cool, that’s cool.
The check out is the way the zippers down at the top it zips around, and it dumps the whole thing wide open, making it really easy to pack your black hole, and you can. Basically it’s got a ton of extra little pockets that are in there. It fits a 15-inch, laptop lots of cool stuff. This is just to make it look sexy. It’s just an air bag, but yeah cool zipper, really easy to access everything and lots of little details to make sure your stuffs not falling just chilling at the bottom of the bag.
So the other thing to flip it around check it out. This is the backside where you’d we’re up against rec. There is a ton of really good soft padding on there. It’s really breathable making it for less sweating that type of thing, but it’s also good for we’ve all packed our backpacks, so full of junk. That there’s been that sharp thing. That’s sticking on your back! That’s not going to happen here, and these really says the contoured straps are going to sit comfortably under and they’re gonna.
Be nice guys thanks! So much for watching this is Levi. I am from shred shop comment below with things are ways that you would pack your 25 litre black hole and yeah have a good one, see you guys later peace [Laughter], we just finished drinking all this eggnog. We did this dumb thing, then one of our friends does call the nog dog and we have to drink two liters eggnog and then run a kilometer. So we did that and I tried to make myself throw up as much as I could to get rid of the stuff out of my stomach, but it didn’t work.
Then I went back to my house and I was watching a movie with this girl and we were seriously watching the movie furious. There’s lots of war scenes and stuff like that, and then we went and I like was like I’m just gonna go get you a glass of water and I got her some water and then I went upstairs to my bathroom upstairs and seriously had so much diarrhea and the loudest poop that I’ve had in an entire year, and so I just had to wait that the thing is: there’s no fan in that upstairs bathroom and the vent from that bathroom goes directly down above where the TV was so I had to wait for war scenes to go hon for me so seriously like infuriated, and at that point that’s when I would be and just farting my brains out and I flushed I think six times to also cover up the fart noises and the girl never noticed so got away scot-free.
But then I told the story in front of her the next day and she found out how many times I farted diarrhea.
What’s going on everyone Connor here from gear reviews bringing you another Patagonia black coal, 25 liter again this time, we’re gonna do the first of two packing tests, so this is sort of the adventure packing test. It’s some things you might find in your bags. If you’re going on a day trip or overnight or weekend trip, just a couple staples that you might bring along with you, seeing how it fits inside the bag and whether or not everything on this table can make the cut or not.
So, let’s get to it all right. So, on this side over here we have the Patagonia better sweater, and then we have here the North Face resolved to rain jacket. That is a really popular one. Then this right here is just a small medical kit. It’s got the staple things you might need, depending on what you’re doing and just for those short trips, and we also have a flashlight, because you should always have a flashlight, a pocketknife sunglasses, just in case you’re driving somewhere a trail map, depending on, if you’re, actually going out to the trails and then also our handy action camera.
So, just over here, I wanted to include something to put in the two side: mesh pockets. So I have my standard one liter, Nalgene water bottle and then the Yeti tumbler that we looked at a little while ago, just to really give it that feel that you’re loading the bag full because a lot of the time side, mesh pockets do get pushed out when the bags loaded too much- and you know your water bottles and sights don’t fit in as well.
So, let’s start filling this bag up and see how well it does alright. So a really helpful feature on here that I mentioned before is that sort of half clamshell opening. It’s gonna really allow you to pack the bag a little easier and just sort of put everything inside of it and also get a good look at where you’re putting it in things like that. So probably one of the first things I’d start with the action camera is a bit heavier, so I, probably stuff it right down at the bottom.
There then, after that, I probably put the sweater, because it’s not a huge deal if I can’t get to it quickly and it’s trapped at the bottom. So there we go, got the sweater sort of half on top of the acting camera down there. Alright. So after we have the spider in that I thought it would utilize the organizational capabilities so I’m, just gonna put this notebook in here.
Just you know you never know. Sometimes you bring notebooks on your adventures depending on what you’re doing then also I’m gonna put my laptop in here again. It’s just gonna help us simulate that sort of realness to it and also, as you can tell, makes it a much more packed, look and feel so there you go. We got both of those in there and all that, and you still have this whole top part up here.
So what I think we’ll do is in here. So in this top part up here, I’m just gonna put the knife: it’s just gonna, allow for simplicity, you know, maybe you need it quickly. It’s right there you’re gonna be able to get it alright. So we’ve got the nice braid up top there and then right in this area. Right here, I would just put my shelf, or in this case my rain jacket.
It’s just gonna allow you to really access it quickly and if you get caught in the rain or it starts to snow and you’re, not wearing a protective shell, then it’s right there at the top you’re good to go and you can grab it pretty easily. So then, if we go up here in this top compartment, here, I would just put sunglasses there. It’s kind of the spot to be in right sort of perfectly made for it and right here on the front compartment.
Still, as you can see, if you remember me mentioning it, doesn’t really impede this pocket when this main compartment is full, which is really great. It’s just a simple design that Patagonia have gone with, gives that bit of elevation gives you that coat of hand width of space, so just with that we’re gonna stuff in our trail map and our flashlight, because those should always be sort of readily accessible and they can just snug right in there get all zipped up tight and then I’ve actually forgotten to put the small med kit in so I’ll open.
This back up probably take out the raincoat put the med kit right in here with the night. Just because then they’re both together, usually they can go hand in hand. Zip it right back up. So, as you can see, still got some space in there, but once we put this rain jacket, /l back in gonna, zip up nice and snug, so there you go, there’s all of that load it in there.
It looks kind of bulky, but it also looks like you filled out the bag itself. So then we’ll put now Jean on this side. It’s a little tough to get in there. As I mentioned, these haven’t been used, so they aren’t it stretched out yet and then we’ll put the Yeti on this side a little tougher all right. So there you go. You got the fully loaded powder going, a twenty five liter bag already for your sort of day trip out or even an overnight trip, packed full fits all rather nicely and you’ve still got a bit of space in there depending on.
If you need to throw anything extra in, that’s a pretty great that it can fit it all. And now, let’s take a look guide, just changing a couple things to see how it fits sort of a weekend trip side of gear, all right, so I’ve left the MacBook and the notebook in here just to keep it simple. You’re, probably still gonna have those on a weekend trip, but what I’m going to change up is I’ve loaded, a packing cube, just full of some odds and ends some things you might have on a ski trip or a weekend trip.
You know change your clothes different socks, some warmer clothes things like that, just the the stuff you would usually bring and I just want to put it in here, just to show you it fits it pretty handily. This is a medium or large one I believe from Amazon. It is quite a big pack for a just a weekend trip, so probably more than I would bring, but you can see it just fits in there pretty easily it slides right in and out again that clamshell opening makes it pretty easy.
Alright, so I just put a couple other things in here. Probably because that’s got you know my clothes and everything so I don’t need the sweater anymore, but I’d still want. You know my knife and medical kit, so I put that in here put that right in that top compartment again and zip that up so it’s all slugging away definitely still bring my sunglasses, it’s probably driving somewhere.
If it’s a weekend trip that can fit in there. That pocket is actually huge. You can fit a lot in there if you need to, and also I bring my shell or rain jacket just to make it. You know simple again right at the top and then I just slip this right up and if we switch to here again, just gonna put my map and flashlight in there some pretty standard items, depending on where you’re going I’m at first, so I, don’t crinkle it so yeah there.
You go map and flashlight in there, zip that all up, and then we’ll put our two bottles in here. So we load this one here so fits in actually easier this time and on this side fits in pretty well alright. So that was the adventure packing test on the Patagonia blackpool, 25 liter it did about as well as I expected. I didn’t think it would have any issues just because of the sheer size of that main compartment.
And then you know the simple pockets on the side and up top. You know I’m really glad that this front of compartment here did work the way they I thought it would just because of that sort of like a packing method that it’s not imposing on that main compartment. So I’m really happy about that and we’ll give it the every day packing test next, just to see how it goes and then, after that, we’ll we’ll give it the waterfall test.
You know really put it through the wringer make sure that it can support and do what you need it to do. Look out for those videos and we’ll see you guys later. You.
What’s going on everyone connor here from gear reviews bringing you another liter pack we’re continuing that sort of miniseries we’re doing today. We’re gonna do an everyday, carry sort of test, we’re just gonna load it full of some of those items that you’re gonna have on a day to day basis, whether you’re going to work, your friends or even, if you’re, a student, we’re just gonna, put it to the test to see if it’s really gonna be worth it to get it, and whether or not it’s gonna be able to hold up and put everything in it that you’re gonna need, depending on what your day to day scenario looks like, and we already know how it does for those overnight and weekend kind of adventure scenarios.
It can hold that gear that you need, but really backpacks come into their own. A lot when they’re holding day to day supplies as a lot of us, don’t get to go on adventures every day or even every week. Sometimes. But when your student or you work I mean I myself, I wear my backpack to work every single day, so I needed to be comfortable and I needed to be able to hold everything.
So, let’s check out the black hole bag and see how well it does, and if it can stack up and hold everything that we need it to alright. So the first test we’re gonna do is we’re gonna, do a laptop test just to see how the sleeve back here sort of fits and holds a laptop I know in the other. Video I just put my macbook in there, but I thought for the purpose of this we’ll. Do it a little more so I have a 17 inch laptop here.
It’s quite big. It is thick as well, so we’ll see how that goes. First, so slide this here, so it doesn’t actually fit. If you can see right on the side there, so it’s it’s too big for it. So just a precaution for anyone, a 17 inch laptop, won’t fit in the bag. That’s not a big shock, because when you look at this pocket it isn’t super wide and it’s not really that thick either. It’s made for the slimmer laptops, because that’s what’s more common nowadays, especially with people buying lots of books and MacBook Airs those kind of things.
So it’s not the most shocking, but let’s test a 14 to 15 inch as well just to see how that does alright. So here’s a 14 to 15 inch laptop, it’s still fairly thick, but not too thick, and it’s a lot smaller than that other one. If we slide it in here so that fits so, we can fit that in fairly easily there’s still a lot of space in here you know, strap it down and it’s not gonna go anywhere and it’s got some padding in here.
So it’s really not gonna be endangering the back padding. Obviously, it’s gonna provide a lot of support and comfort. So it’s not as heavy on your back. So now we’ll try the MacBook Pro stuff 13 inch MacBook Pro, as we saw in the previous video, it does just slip in there. It’s really simple small laptop. It’s not very thick, it’s not really that big. It fits in it’s completely engulfed so you’re getting the maximum amount of protection.
So so the 13-inch range you’re gonna be more than covered. It’s just gonna sort of cover, all of it. It doesn’t even really look like a laptops there that 14 to 15 inch range. It’s still gonna hold it’s gonna be able to cover it all. It just might be that those laptops can get a little thicker, so you might have to be careful with that, but other than that, it’s still really good and realistically that 17-inch you could just fit right here.
If you want it to so, I would just put my lunch bag in my backpack. So let’s see how that goes. So it does fit in there quite easily and simply it does firm up right down here. So the bottom of the bag is full with that, so you’re not gonna fit as much else down there, but if we go and put a notebook as I always carry a notebook, you never know when you’re gonna need to write something down, it does fit.
It might be getting pushed a bit by the lunch bag with the big containers in there again. That might not be really flickable to everyone. I know a lot of people do carry lunches. So take that at what you will, if you don’t put your lunch bag in your backpack you’re, probably good and don’t need to worry about it. So if we move right along I like to carry headphones with me, just because sometimes people can be noisy where you want to focus in and get some work done, so always good to have those and then again also always carrying some kind of rain jacket in the spring summer and fall.
So that’s handy to have and just stuff that right in there and it fits pretty easily. But I did forget again about this front mesh pocket. So in that front, mesh pocket- probably just gonna, put my portable power bank. It’s gonna fit nicely. It’s not gonna affect anything, just zip it right up and then stuff our coat in and we’re good to go. Zip it right out so right. There we’re already still got quite a bit of room.
All of this is empty right here, there’s not really anything there. So it’s a good sign! You have space to play with then on this front. Compartment you’ve still got quite a bit of space, so nothing has impeded this yet. So it’s still a good sign that they’re sort of Engineering has worked. So you might have seen in my north taste. Borealis video I have a little pouch with you know, headphones and charging cords things like that.
So I would just slip that right in there it’s gonna stay, secure, nothing’s, gonna get tangled in there. So it’s perfect and can just sit in there. Then this front compartment I mentioned, could be sort of a pencil case kind of pocket. If you don’t want to carry that and I, don’t so I’m. Just gonna put my two pens right in there then also just put my glasses case in there and zip that up so that right there is pretty packed, but you still have some space to play with.
As I was mentioning, there is still stuff you can see it squishes in still some room to play with if you had more stuff on your day to day alright, so we’ve got the fully loaded bag. Here it is sitting flat right now. I know that’s something! A lot of people will look for is: can the bag just stand alone by itself, and is it able to not have to lean on something because North Face is famous for having bags just fall over on? So it’s really nice to see that working next, we need to see if our travel, mug and our Nalgene will fit in it.
So again, just a standard 1, liter Nalgene and the Yeti Rambler tumbler travel mug, so we’re just gonna put those in the side. Pockets really see that realistic view just to see if it can still hold it when we’ve already packed it full of stuff so step 1, the Yeti travel mug is in it fits quite well. It can even come up a bit more if we wanted it to, but I think it’s safe to just leave it.
There now step 2 put the Nalgene and it is empty. So it’s gonna be a little tougher. If we just stuff that right there, it pulls it this side of it. That’s probably just due to flexing it. So much because again, brand new bag hasn’t been used. A lot stuff is still rigid, hasn’t been worked in things like that. So overall still fits quite a lot of stuff all right. So let’s put in this big math textbook, just to see how it can do with that.
So we just slide it in. It does sit in with a lot of extra space in there because we don’t have that lunch bag in there anymore. All right, so we’ve got the textbook down there. It fits pretty easily as its not. It is a thick book, but it’s not the same size as that lunch bag. Alright, so we’ve got the headphones in there, we’ll put our rain jacket just to simulate another layer and we’ll zip.
This up still fits really easily. You do have space down here, still quite a lot of it. Actually, if you were to put you know more books or notebooks whatever you need, depending on where you’re going. If you are a student I know a lot of the time one textbook is, and everything or one notebook isn’t everything you need more than that. So you know good to see. There’s still lots of space and now we’ll put in the travel mug see if the down team can fit and there we go, there’s the bag again.
Alright, so there we have it Patagonia black hole, 25 liter, now we’ve seen that it works for overnight trips small weekend trips, your everyday carry and also pretty good for students as well. So I want to hear what you guys think. So let me know down below what you’ve thought of the backpack and we will be doing a snow, slash water test soon on this bag as well to really test that durable water repellant finish that they put on the bags.
So look out for that and we’ll see you guys later, oh boy, you.
Hello, my name is hannah, and today I’m mini 26 liter bag. I’ve decided to review this bag because there doesn’t seem to be any reviews of people packing it online, and I really wanted to show everyone just how much fits inside this personal item airline bag. This bag has dimensions that should fit under the seat in front of you on most airlines in the us. So this bag can be carried three different ways: it can be carried briefcase style by the side handle it can be carried as a duffel bag.
It comes with a duffel strap that attaches to two clips that stow here and here it also has stowable backpack straps that I will show you later so today. I’m just going to be doing a quick overview of what I’ve packed in this bag for a five day trip. The materials on this bag are the outside is a recycled polyester ripstop nylon with tpu film laminate, and then the inside liner is 200 denier, recycled, polyester with pu coating.
What all that means is that this bag is a very water resistant bag. The dimensions of this bag are, it is 19 5, inches tall by 12 and a quarter inches wide by six inches deep. So it’s right at that maximum personal item size. It doesn’t really have a frame, so you will be able to squish this in to one of those sizing bins if they have, you show that it fits also. If this matters to you, this bag is blue sign approved, which means that it is made very sustainably so going into what I actually have packed in the bag on this front, quick access pocket, it’s a very thin pocket, there’s, not really any interior organization, so I don’t have much in here.
I have a charging cable. I have a power bank and then I also have a pen in here and that’s really all I keep in here again, there’s not a lot of dimensions to this pocket, so there’s not much that can fit something to note about this bag is that all of its pockets are easiest to access when it is in briefcase mode on the side moving into this next pocket. This is large, zips, all the way down and folds out in this pocket.
I keep my bose headphones. I don’t really like the smaller earbuds because they give me a headache. I wear them too long. So these are really nice for longer. Plane rides, it has my tsa quart sized approved liquids bag. I like having this on an external pocket, because that makes it really easy to access when going through tsa inside this bag. I just have my makeup: wipes a shampoo and conditioner bottle, mascara and concealer an eyebrow pencil.
I’ve got toothpaste and floss my foundation, some lotion and then toothbrush and nail clippers, and that is all that I carry inside my liquids bag. Now. This pocket has two felt line: components right here we have a pocket, that’s just big enough for your cell phone, probably an iphone or an android. Here we have a tablet compartment that I fit my ipad mini into and then other components in this pocket are two mesh elastic pockets.
Here, one of them has a clip that you can carry your car keys in for quick access and then there’s a zippered pocket up top here four pen holders and then one more mesh zippered pocket here, that’s really really thin. You could probably get your passport in there and really not much else now that is it for this pocket. Moving on to the main storage compartment of this bag. One of the selling points for me is that this bag opens fully clamshell.
So you have a ton of access when packing this bag. It makes it really easy for those short trips on this front. Flap right here, I mostly just have more of my toiletries. Kind of makeup items have face powder. Some advil blush deodorant highlighter. In this little coin purse I keep my hair ties and my bobby pins over in this other pouch. I have my anastasia, beverly hills, soft glam palette, as well as a whole bunch of makeup brushes, that’s it for that flap moving into the main compartment.
I have a small purse for daily carry this fits my phone wallet and keys as well as an extra pair of sandals gem, sharp sports bra. I have a pajama set hair brush. This contains my intimates. I think I have three bras in here. A week’s worth of underwear, as well as a few pairs of socks, have a workout top, and then I have five shirts right here, four just kind of blouses and then one long sleeve shirt in case it gets chilly I’ll, take those out and then down here another workout top.
I brought a dress just in case we got somewhere nice, it’s a short knee-length dress. So if you have a full length dress, it’s going to be a little bit bulkier, also for reference, I’m a little under five seven. So if you’re taller than me, you probably won’t be able to fit as much and if you’re shorter than me, you’ll probably be able to fit a little bit more. I also have two pairs of jeans and two leggings, and that is all I have in this really large compartment.
I like that it has this mesh here, because I can help compress it down a little bit and keep everything nice organized and easy to access so closing this pocket going to the back of the bag. We have our laptop pocket. I don’t have anything in here currently because I don’t tend to carry a laptop when I travel. However, in this laptop compartment, you could probably easily fit a 17-inch laptop. My 15 5 inch laptop fits just fine in this compartment.
There’s a little buckle down here that you unlatch, so that you can secure your laptop the next feature of this bag. That’s really nice is it has a luggage pass-through that, when carried in briefcase mode, this also acts as a pocket, because there is a zipper on the bottom that can make it a total luggage, pass-through or just a pocket. If you use it as a pocket, keep in mind that there is no way to secure it, it is just nice and open, and then next we have the stowable backpack straps.
You can just pull out of that. Zippered pocket really really easy to get out and they clip in down at these bottom corners here, there’s a couple of hidden buckles. You can just slide these in too can be a little bit tricky if you don’t slide out the buckles before you try and clip it, but anyway it also has a sternum strap, that’s adjustable. These are removable and you can move it up to different parts along this daisy chain so that it fits right for your height.
Otherwise, that is all I have to say about this patagonia mlc mini 26 liter bag. Thank you.
