What’s happening panda nation Peter from Starbucks and saw that they had the via instant coffee, packets there so I thought I’d, try a you know flavor of theirs. This is the Pike Place roast it’s supposed to be smooth and balanced. It’s a medium, roast and kind of the nice thing about this. First of all, I will say that they are pretty expensive. Twelve packets, like things like twelve bucks, so it’s a bulk up about a buck, a packet, but they do come in these nice little instant packets, like this and so they’re great for taking around having your desk, taking a camping trip or something like that.
You just tear it open, 100%, Arabica, instant micro, ground, coffee and I. Think, hopefully you can just tear it yep without an implement- and you just add it to your cup and, let’s see what it says here: I have boiled some water and I. Don’t know that it’s telling me how much water to add directly to it. So it says eight add eight fluid ounces on the box, but not on the package. I wish it said it here. So I’ve got some hot water here, let’s go ahead and add eight ounces, which is about a cup.
Well, I could smell it already: mmm, don’t smell like I’m, getting out kinda rich, hearty oaky coffee smell, maybe a little buttery and nutty smell definitely smells pretty good. Let’s go ahead and get this stirred up all right. Let’s give it a little taste here. Oh my gosh that tastes like poseur, hipster, coffee to me, Wow I, mean if you’re dying in you need a cup of coffee. Maybe you want to check out the via instance, but you know, if you want a real cup of coffee. I would definitely check out black rifle coffee.
This is a freedom fuel and this will get you going Callie once just coffee man, when you can have Coffee and freedom, Peter, romp and out.

Everybody welcome back to the channel, so today, I just wanted to share a little a little, not trick or tip or anything, but just a little piece of gear that I have recently started using. That has made life a little bit better from the trail. For me, not everybody’s coffee drinkers. But if you are, you haven’t seen this. You may like this, so everybody has seen the Taster’s Choice, the Starbucks via all the little instant coffee packs.
Some are better than others. Taster’s Choice I, don’t know how you all people drink that stuff, the Starbucks stuff, isn’t too bad. That’s a little expensive I’ll have a few buddies that use this filter and I started using a while back and it’s great take your coffee from home and brew. It almost like you would at home not quite as good, it’s still closer.
So what this is. It is a nylon filter made by GSI weights. Point four ounces: it’s a nylon filter! It’s got three little legs on it and if you have a GSI cup like I, have this works perfect? So, let’s do take a little off the cup. Put the legs on BAM. Put your coffee in boil your water, for whatever forever brew things I will say about this is it seems like if you put your coffee in, pour your water over with just using this nylon filter.
Your coffee is going to be a little bit weaker than normal. They do make filters for this cone filters. You can use the regular coffee filter at home. I just take one trim it down, throw in my pack, however many times I. Think I’m, you know make cups of coffee on the trail, but if this will work with pretty much any cup that has like a thin air, thinner outer hedge on it, like I said I was having have a GSI cup, and it’s nice for when you want coffee, you’re, not worried about weight.
You know sometimes me my buddies go out a mile or two into the backwoods set up camp. You really don’t worry about wait, so this is a really good alternative to, like I, said the instant coffee. It’s a little bit better tasting for my likes anyways. Storing this thing, if you got a cup it’ll, actually just Bend ever so slightly put it down there and put the lid on bam nests in there.
One other place, I found it nest pretty. Well too, is, if used the just a little bit bigger fuel bottles. Here, the fuel canisters it’ll nest right in the bottom of that, and then, if you have like a this, is an MSR Titan, 850 ml by that’ll nest all down in there like that. It may be good to go on your back, so it doesn’t take up much room, lightweight or worried about weight, and my opinion makes a little bit better cup of coffee.
So if you are coffee, drinking you’re, looking for something alternative, instead of the instant coffee packs, give us a shot. I just looked it up, because I could remember how much I paid for this initially on Amazon and I, initially paid 997, but currently, as of today, March 2020. This is 597 so about four dollars off. So not a not a bad little piece of gear here for five bucks, and it will give you a better cup of coffee.
I promise you so if you like this video, give it a like, if you haven’t subscribed to my channel yet please consider subscribing. If you have any questions or comments on this or any other way, is there tricks or tips that you make coffee on the trail you’d like to share it with everybody? Hike remedy: Channel: are you looking for a new cook system for when you go out backpacking well? Is the Jetboil system worth the money let’s find out today here on paleo Hecker MD? It doesn’t take you very long around the backpacking community, whether it be ultralight or or any kind of backpacking communities to run across the Jetboil systems. These are very popular but they’re also relatively expensive.
This is the Jetboil flash system it retails for $100, which is fairly expensive, given the fact that you could probably make you know put something together like this for a lot less I happen to buy this for $49 95 on clearance about a year ago and I’ve used it quite a few times and finally decided it’s time to make a video about whether I think it’s worth spending the money on this or not so here’s the system itself, let’s take a look at what it comes with.
As you can see, it comes in a nice compact system like this. This weighs 14 ounces. Without the fuel which is already in here, you can see you take the top off it’s a rubberized top, so it stays on very nicely. This is I believe this is actually optional, but this is for use with additional pots if you’re not using the actual Jetboil. You can put another pot on this, so I always keep it because it nests right in there fuel canister.
This is the actual burner itself, okay and then at the bottom is a fuel stabilizer which all this does is make sure that your fuel sits on the ground evenly. Lastly, on the bottom: there’s this little cup that you can use to use either as a measuring cup. It’s got measuring gradations on the side and it’s used to protect the burner on the bottom. One of the really nice things is this neoprene sleeve it covers over the aluminum pot and it allows you to grab real easily, even if it’s hot.
The other thing is on the other side here. This will actually change colors and become orange as it becomes hot enough to be boiling. So you can just watch the side of it and see what things oiled you see on the bottom. I have this proprietary kind of grid here with the metal and that helps keep things as efficient as possible all right, so we are going to take advantage and make some coffee here.
So y’all helped put this together. That just goes on like that. Nothing fancy here next thing we’ll be putting on the actual burner just like that. Alright, so we’re going to make a little bit of coffee and some oatmeal this morning, this will be 2. Cups of water, I probably won’t need all 2 cups, but nonetheless go ahead and fill it up put the lid on, and then this just there’s like a little knob here, locks in just like that.
Piezo igniter right up here turn this like regular stove is the piezo a light and turn it all the way up, and let’s boil some water one of the things I love about this particular kit is the neoprene sleeve, because it allows you to very easily grab it. You can see that I can grab the sides here without a problem. It’s not hot at all. I can move this. Alright, we’ll get some coffee going here, be nice and careful here with our oatmeal, so that we don’t overwater it nothing worse in my book and runny oatmeal, just the way I like my oatmeal little firm and still stick your fork in it.
Alright. So, while I finish, breakfast and I continue down the trail here on the wall of Azalea. Is the jet Bowl system worth it I’ll tell you there’s two ways to look at it. If you’re a backpacker, you’re gonna be hitting the trail, you don’t have a lot of time. You don’t have a lot of interest really in putting together kits and stuff like that I love it you can beat this system hundred dollars is a little bit pricey, but look at what you get.
You get a plastic measuring cup, not a big deal, not something super expensive or fancy, but nonetheless you get a measuring cup here at the bottom. You can also use this to drink out of on the trail, you get a really nice two cup system. You can hold more than two cups in here, but the maximum is two cups, because once it starts boiling it gets and it’ll overflow. You get a nice lid on top that you can keep things in with, and you get an entire system that is encapsulated or held into a system about the size of a Nalgene bottle a little bit less.
As far as height goes it’s safe to use, you can grab it when it’s hot one of the benefits is that it cools off very quickly. So if you’re, on the run, if you’re hiking- and you want to stop, make a quick cup of coffee, make a quick meal and then put it back up by the you’re done eating I guarantee, this will be cooled off. It is very convenient to have this thing on the side that shows you when it’s boiling, you don’t really need it, but it is kind of convenient if you’re, just taking a look at it from across camp, you can look and see.
If you can find the orange flame, if it’s up you know, you’re boiling, the weight is very reasonable. 14 ounces, plus the weight of the fuel itself I think it’s very reasonable. Now, I think that this thing could have a place in almost anybody’s kit, even someone who likes to put things together, I like to put together kits- and you can definitely put together a more ultralight kit than this- if that’s what you’re looking for, but for somebody who’s.
Looking for a right off the shelf, easy to use, backpacking cooking kit, that’s going to basically take care of all your problems from the same point of boiling water so that you can rehydrate meals, I, don’t think, there’s a better system than the Jetboil! You consistently get 2 minutes, 2 minutes, 30 seconds to 2 cups of water boiling. That’s pretty quick! You can get a windscreen for this if you want, but I found the efficiency of this system, you don’t really need much of a windscreen if you can just find a rock or something and put it behind the rock and keep the direct wind off of it.
You’ll be fine and you’re, really not going to cut back on the efficiency, so in the end, do I recommend the Jetboil flash system. Absolutely I do I. Think some of the other systems are pretty neat as well and I’m hoping to get a bigger system that I can use when I go out on the trail with my kids, the system is well thought out. It’s the first of its kind, there’s a lot of copies now, but it is the first of its kind.
It’s got a secure lid, a really comfortable, neoprene, sleeve, large lightweight aluminum cup, the proprietary system at the bottom to increase efficiency and the cup at the bottom that you can use to drink out of this is not a sponsored video. This is just a video that I wanted to make because I’ve used the jet boat for a while, now and I. Think it’s pretty cool. Is it as fun as putting together your own ultra light kits? Well, maybe not, but not everybody’s into that.
We don’t want that kind of thing to stop you from getting outside and enjoying the outdoors. As always, I appreciate y’all checking out paleo hiker MD I’m gonna head down the wild Azalea trail. Here it’s a beautiful day. It’s about 4550 degrees. It’s gonna be hive about 55 today, so I’m going to get out, I brought my Kindle I’m gonna make a fire down the way, a little pit that I know and I’m gonna sit and I’m gonna read today.
So do you have any comments on the Jetboil flash system or any of the other jet Bowl systems? Let me know here on the channel comment down below, as always appreciate. Everyone’s support like comment subscribe share. All those great things stay tuned for videos here on paleo hacker MD. You.
Hey welcome to another frontcourt media little bit different because I’m doing a backpacking product review. If you don’t know, yeah I’m, climbing a mountain this summer, and so I’ve been kind of focusing in on that I’ve more about that at the end of the video. If you want stick around for it, but today, I’m out here at a branch, toke lake and is freezing the lake is frozen behind me.
If you listen. Water is melting from the snow all over the place and basically in a on an island here at this picnic table, surrounded by water as it melts down and runs into a lake just behind me. So to compensate for this cold I have a jet jet boil. This is the flash Java it’s a portable stove great for backpacking, and this one off comes with the added bonus of a coffee press.
So I’m gonna open this up here and show you what’s inside then we’ll test it out and see how it does only weighs 13 point: 1, ounces or 371 grams, because when you’re backpacking weight matters, so let’s go ahead and get this open. It says it cannot boil 500, milliliters or 2 cups of coffee in about a hundred seconds. So that’s really efficient. It’s a three season: stove, meaning it works spring summer and fall winter.
It’s not insulated well enough to get the heat high enough to boil but I’m planning to climb in the summer. So that’s not gonna be an issue this year, maybe in the future in a couple years, I’ll do a winter line. So the whole packaging here just kind of fell apart. You gotta, handle holding a lid, help obviously help keep the he then I should wash this but I’m going to use it and weigh out think a little manufacturing oil is gonna.
Hurt me so here is the I can get it out. My hands are starting to get cold 41 degrees out, so it’s not as cold as it’s been anyway. Here’s your French press screw the little piece together. That’s going to go in here. What’s up that to the side sticker because you only have to represent, you have to give them free advertising for buying their product Apple. Okay, so still digging down in here just come with some Green Mountain Coffee I use this in my Keurig.
So it’s pretty good coffee I brought my own as well, so we’ll probably save that one instructions, and then this is gonna, be your feet for your your gas, canister and so I do have a I want with the Jetboil gas canister. Now you don’t have to use the jet while I just did it because so that’s going to go. I know you have to lined it up here, but that’s good clip on like that. That’s going to keep it from falling over a little bit about gas canisters real fast since I’m going to be climbing a 14, 000 foot mountain, probably not gonna, be cooking on the top of it, but most of the time we’ll be at 10 000 11 000 feet, so you do need you can’t use the propane or butane, only canisters that you find that, like Walmart, like the Coleman brand, need a little different canister.
So you generally have three different types of fuel. You have propane butane and isobutane. Butane is the cheapest. That’s when you get the big Coleman one, and that is only good in warm weather. The whole point of these is you have to keep the pressure inside high enough to keep putting out gas and butane doesn’t provide that especially altitude next below that is isobutane, which is a little better at 11 degrees, Fahrenheit rated.
But then you have propane that’s at negative, 44 degrees, Fahrenheit, but pure propane requires a tougher canister, and so you can get combinations of all three, but for for altitude and cold weather the best is, in my opinion, the ISO, butane and propane mix. That’s why I have right here and then you have your burner. We’re just going to go right here, just go and go right here: I don’t want to boil the water.
So let me get this all kind of set up here and we’ll try it out all right. So you have the little measuring cup down here. It comes off these line. Up with these twists, lock it in place pop that off, it’s gonna screw right on there make sure you gas this off all right. That’s it all right! So we ready to go, got it screwed on no there’s a max fill line in there. So what we’re going to do is take some water here.
Well, look at our food mountain house, I love the biscuits and gravy. Actually, so that’s why I got says: 1 and 3/4 cups of boiling water, so I’m actually going to fill it up too. It’s 2 cups as the maxvill. It’s always gonna have a little extra water cuz. You never know if something’s gonna be a little drier than you need to all right. So there’s two cups. Ok! Now this thing here is going to act as your fuel, the amount of fuel.
You have stirred one spin that hear it coming out and you leave me a match. There’s hot there’s a lighter just one turn that up we’re going to put on the lid and yeah should I take about what I say, 90 seconds or something without water start boiling I can only see it’s paper coming out up here: glass going on I’m going to get this ready. They’re never seen one these before you have to take out the do not eat silica, gel and there’s.
What’s inside, they’ve got my really long spork and that’s you can dig down without getting their hands messy. You kind of see these is ridges in here and like the heatsink, they collect the heat as it tries to escape around to make sure as much heat as possible is filter back up into the container. That, of course, is insulin, open flame underneath a pot where the heat gets steep up the side.
This takes all the heat, collects it and shoots it up and, of course, bring a lid on something. I’m expect this lid. Actually it looks like well, you maybe could use it as a coffee. Coffee tumbler looks like a mouthpiece Airbus, probably for just pouring 5 in 90 seconds, I think it’s actually boiling this kind of shaking the table a little bit all right. So we’re going to turn the flame down off.
Put this on there. Just this one won’t pour out of actually the best way to do this. That’s going to be hot, so I think I’m just going to actually leave it all attached here and pour it. Oh, that’s one sandwich I’ve left all right, just a little bit left in there, so we’re going to says, stir carefully and clothes if ur so give it a quick little little slosh around in there and let stand for eight to nine minutes.
So that’s doing that we’re gonna make some coffee. So let’s load this back up here, I’m going to turn this back on fire. It up. I brought some coffee right here: okay, I, don’t like my coffee, scalding hot, so I’m gonna kill the heat. What you do is you take your grounds. You want a coarse grind. Basically, it has to be small bigger than this mesh. This is really a fine mesh, but of course ground is going to just make you a lot easier.
Oh dump those right in there when to a scoop and a half for my two cups I’ll. Let that sit for a moment. If you’re feeling antsy, you can take your spork and give it a swish sleep all right. So after laying it sit for a couple of minutes, you want to take your press put it in there, I apparently missed okay I, miss I mess something up here. Let’s see what I did wrong so have coffee grounds on top so helps if you screw it on the right direction.
All the instructions obviously should be pointing up. So that gives me a much tighter seal and now I’m, scraping down everything. A soggy and pushed down. I still really think this should should go on like that, keeps the plunger in place, and then you can pour your coffee out and you have a nice clean stream all right, so we figured it out. I actually looked for the instructions and didn’t see any so.
At least this user figure out a bowl, so we’ve got our coffee should be just about time. For this, let’s check the time here. All right, that’s been just about eight minutes pop this open. Okay. What I had this during the kayaking adventure, which I’ll have a link up here to and this just tastes it so amazing after a hard day, working and freezing this just hit the spot. A little scoops gonna be hot I like it.
So the biscuits are a little crunchy, so you can leave it sit there longer again add a little extra water, but coffee. That’s really good. So yeah waiting for your step, two to cook in here, takes longer than boiling the water boiled each pot and yeah about 90 seconds so before you go. I want to tell you that, yes, I am climbing a mountain. This June, it’s a 14, 000 5 foot, peak Mount of the Holy Cross in Colorado, I’ve, never climbed a mountain before and I just feel like I’m.
At the point of my life, where I need to climb a mountain, I’ve always wanted to go on an adventure, and so now I kind of have my life in order enough that I can go on an adventure. So my friend Seth Murphy from perky living on Instagram he’s coming with me. We’re going to backpack camp for about 7 days, gonna be using this type of stuff, so I’ve been logging. My journey to this mountain over on my website, flare, Corp, Mediacom I have a link in the description below and up in the menu bar there’s mountain climbing, and if you click on that, you can see the blog I update it.
So every couple every week or so with you know what training right now I’m trying to get in shape and lose some weight and I’ve been in the gym five to six times a week, eating better buying equipment. So, as we get closer on and once it gets nicer out, we’ll be doing more stuff going on small excursions with videos and so I’m kind of trying to do these type of things on that blog as well.
They don’t get posted on my normal floor court, media YouTube channel because they’re just it’s more of a blog vlog type thing. So those also get posted on to Facebook, though. So if you want followed me along on the mountain climbing journey now we’ll be talking about gear and cameras and training and food and equipment and the mountain and hiking and plan to do some live streams with Seth.
If you don’t want to miss any of that, follow me on Facebook and then also go check out: Flair Court Mediacom. So if you want pick up a Jetboil Java flash for yourself, I’ll have an affiliated link down in the video description below and if you’re curious. Yes, this is the same Lake that I fell in last year, while walking on a frozen lake. I can see the video link up there for that embarrassing time when I destroyed.
Some cameras in a drone fell on old frozen lake, but I’m going to sit here and finish this and warm up until next time, I’m doing what I love keep doing. What you love thanks for watching you.
Hey everybody brian here from jetboil- and this is the brand new this one and created the lightest stove system that jetboil has ever made. Let’s check it out. First things: first, the stash is 40 lighter than any other jetboil stove system. It weighs just 7, 1 ounces or 200 grams. Think about that 7 1 ounces is practically nothing. It’s pretty much a pair of socks to shave all that weight. The engineers kept the stash as simple as possible, while still giving you all of that uncompromised cooking performance.
You’d expect from jetboil. The stove itself has a titanium burner and, as you can see, there’s no igniter or regulator on this thing, which saves a ton of weight. Now that means that the stash is part of the fast boil category of stoves, which means it’s best for things like freeze-dried meals or coffee and tea on the trail that nearly non-existent weight means it’s the perfect stove for anyone who is serious about counting grams and keeping things as lightweight and compact as possible, whether you’re through hiking or on a big multi-day bike, backing trip now, just because it’s lightweight doesn’t mean it.
Skimps on cooking performance, the stash features the same flux ring technology that you see on other jetboils, which means it uses half the amount of fuel to boil twice as fast. The stash boils two cups of water in just two and a half minutes, which means it’s perfect for most dehydrated meals or a cup of coffee. The stash has three support: arms that fold out for stability and the 0 8 liter cook pot slots right into these little notches, which makes it incredibly stable.
The cook pot also has handy measurement lines on the inside and it’s the perfect size for the majority of backpacking meals. If you’re cooking for two you’re gonna love the fast boil time that this thing has it’s also designed to work with whatever pot or pan you’ve already got like the jetboil summit, skillet that I’ve got right here instead of a cozy like some other jetboil models, the stash features a silicone grip that folds over for easy storage. The lid also features a pour spout and the system comes with.
A fuel can stabilizer as well. The other thing that makes the stash so great is how compact the whole system is when you’re done using it fold the arms back in and flip over, the bail stow, the fuel can stabilizer in the bottom of the cook pot flip the stove over and place it towards the corner of the stabilizer. Then snap, your 100 gram, fuel canister into the lid after that put the lid on the stove and then pinch the base of the handle to fold it over and you’re good to go the canister snaps into the lid to save space and to keep it from rattling in your pack and as a bonus, there’s even a spot to store a mini lighter between the lid and the bottom of the fuel canister.
I am really excited about the stash at just 7 1 ounces. It’s the lightest, stove system that jetboil has ever created. It’s so small you’re, going to forget you’re carrying it. Despite how small it is. It still boils water incredibly fast. So it’s the perfect stove for big backcountry missions where weight and space are critical. You.
What’s up everybody welcome back man, it’s been a second since I uploaded, I kind of got caught up in the holidays. You know Christmas New Year’s is coming up, I apologize that but I’m glad you’re here the reason that I came down here, I came down to meet up with a friend. Take some pictures get away for a little bit, so I met up with him. Yesterday yesterday, Thursday two days ago, Thursday I met up with him Thursday and then yesterday we ran around explored.
Some of the state parks here took some pictures, I’ll upload those pictures to my Instagram. So if you guys want to see what they look like go check out, my Instagram but I have something to show you that I haven’t used before that. I got for this trip and it has been a life saver last night. It got down to about oh, maybe 18 degrees, and then this morning it seemed like it was even colder, as I got up to the top. It said it was 15 degrees, so it gets pretty cold and I don’t have like a stove I didn’t get that intense with it.
We were just car, camping and so I bought a jet boil to bring with me. It boils water super super fast and then I’ve been using I’ve been buying Mountain, Home meals, they’re, basically freeze-dried meals, it tastes really good, but even better than that is I’ve been using the Jetboil to make hot chocolate, and it’s been on point. So what I wanted to do in this video is show you guys my jet boil, because I was excited about it, so I thought maybe you’d be excited about it.
So, let’s run through how this works. So you have your fuel canister, your canister lid pops off and then inside the jet Boy. So we’re gonna get really intense with the Jetboil. They give you a stand that you can throw the tank on just to stabilize it most. The time I’ve been able to just use it like this, but you can set the canister on there. Just pops in just like that, keeps the stabilized. And then you have your burner, the burner is cool because it has an igniter on the side of it as well.
So, basically, once you have a screw down to the fuel canister, you can turn the gas on and then just like that, you get the little spark coming out right. There ignites it makes it super convenient and then you’ve got the empty Cup. This turns orange, when it’s hot, so I’ll show you guys that as well, but once it gets hot and it’s it’s boiling, then this is orange, so kind of so keeping it simple. Just have some scrambled eggs and then I also have some bagels that have been eating in the morning.
On the back of all these mountain house meals, you have the instructions, most of them only take about a cup and a half to 2 cups of water. The eggs actually only take a cup and then on the Jetboil inside. You have a line, a fill line that has basically a two cup marker. This little plastic cup comes off. This plastic cup also is a measuring cup, fill that up about halfway, and we will throw this on here and once the cup is on turn the gas on drink.
That up set this on top little cozy. So the cool thing about the Jetboil is it actually boils the water in about a hundred seconds so about a minute forty seconds. So it’s really really fast and it’s also I’m just boiling it’s starting to turn orange, basically just indicating that it’s almost done horns up the water line right there, so they screech done right now, nice, steamy, water man. This is sit for about three minutes. I, remember back in the day, the free Stratford that we used to get was like super super nasty and nobody ever really wanted to eat.
It was kind of one of those things you had to force down, but the mountain house meals are actually pretty good, so freeze-drying food has come a long way while those eggs are finishing up. Cooking I want to show you guys this view, because this view to me is just insane so I’m gonna walk out to this ledge. If I die, do something to remember me comment put something in the comments if I die, this is never gonna get posted, so it doesn’t even matter.
Okay. How insane is this view looks like something like all right, I think the eggs are done. So it’s time for breakfast I feel done. You can add it a little bit too much water, but it’ll, be fine. It’ll it’ll seep out all right. Let’s try it whoa, there’s hot, but good I was expecting a lot less out of the eggs just because they’re just plain eggs, I just wanted them for the protein, but they’re actually good. They have little bits of bacon in it right proof.
It’s still like 22 degrees, so the warm breakfast is gonna be good, but I want hot chocolate. So Jetboil again have the only downside to putting this into a hydro flask. Is it keeps it friggin hot, so I have to wait like an extra 5 or 10 minutes before I can actually drink it. Oh yeah yeah it’s too hot five minutes, so that has been my cooking setup while I’ve been out here. Just the Jetboil freeze-dried mountain house meals, it works incredibly well, it actually worked way better than I was expecting it to be they’ve, been a lot tastier, so I’ll link the Jetboil is in the video description down below just in case.
You want to check them out for yourself thanks Ted, for watching guys make sure you give this video a thumbs up and hit that subscribe button. So you don’t miss any future videos and see you.
Hey guys I’m here to do a quick review of the Jetboil flash. This is something that I’ve been using for pretty much everything from cooking to boiling water. You know you can make coffee, you can make oatmeal hot chocolate. You can use the mountain house meals it pretty much. Does everything I need to do in one convenient package, the Jetboil flash uses the flux ring technology that helps boil water faster than just about anything else.
On the market. I’m gonna do a quick demonstration of how quickly we can boil water using this little item right here. So what I’m going to do? It’s got a nice little silicone top lid. Put that right there, the Java press, plunger, the actual burner itself, the fuel adapter stabilizer tripod, the pot adapter, the java press, plunger I, guess that’s the actual press itself, not the plunger, and this it can contain up to a 100 gram, fuel cartridge.
So I’m going to show you real quick on how fast we can get this thing going first thing you want to do is get your your tripod, your fuel tripod out, and it snaps in and one thing this thing: does it actually connects a 230 gram? One thing this thing: does it also? You can also use the 230 gram cartridge and this one cartridge right here still has a little bit of fuel left in it after three months of use, so I used it three months of cooking and boiling water, and it has about three months of use so we’ll put that one down over there.
So the first thing you want to do pull that little gal. You want to flip that ring out. That will thread right under there screw that in what I like about the Jetboil flash is, it has an entire on it. A lot of the jet boils out there. We’re not do not have an included Neider, so I really like that one yeah. What you want to do is get these rings.
What you want to do is get this groove right here, line these grooves up, lock it on lock it into place. Now. What you want to do is add your water. This thing will hold up to two cups. I, don’t know if you can see that in in there there’s a line, a two cup line right there, so it makes it really easy to. You know one cup of coffee, one cup is in the oatmeal alright, so what we’re gonna do now we’re gonna actually time this we’re gonna time this on a timer on how quickly we can.
We can boil water yeah what I do I turn the gas all the way started, we’ll just let it go see how long it takes before we come to a boil. The lid back on this thing has a lid, so this this right here you’ll see the boil when it starts to boil and you’ll see the steam coming out of this hole and that hole also is what uses with the Java press.
That little thing will go down in there. Also so at about a minute and 20 I’m. Seeing my first bit of steam come out all right, so at 3 minutes and 21 seconds I’ve got a complete boil, so you see that you got you a boil going so around about two to three minutes: you’re gonna have a complete boil what I want to show.
You is once your water is boiling you’ll remove this off of here. You can set your oven down then. So, put you I like to use a couple. It’s like two full spoons, full coffee per every two cups of water. I learned my lesson the hard way by putting the coffee in there and letting it boil that was a terrible mistake.
I had coffee greens just blowing everywhere it was terrible. So what I want to do is once I get it. I’ll stir it up, assemble the java press. You want to assemble this thing facing downwards, so when it goes down, it’s catching all of the coffee grounds inside that filter. So you want to go like that and put that on this barn door flying open once you put that on there, like that, you’ll push that through there through that hole, close that up, then I want to press slowly.
Let’s get that press there, then one hard press now, normally what I do I let this set for maybe another minute. So after about a minute. So what I want to do is get my coffee. There you go. I’ve got a complete cup of coffee, ready to go as much as I’m shaking I. Look like I already been drinking enough. Damn coffee, oh that’s good stuff! So this this is the complete.
This is the Java flash they make. Different versions of this I’ll leave some links on where you can purchase these. They usually retail around about a hundred bucks. I’ve had this one for about two years, and it’s been just amazing. I love this thing great. This thing as far as blowing water making coffee you can I give it I, give it an easily like a nine like a nine.
As far as the rating, because I can have water, I can have a complete meal made in less than five minutes, and very I mean that’s that’s about the time. It’ll. Take you to build a fire so yeah thanks for watching I appreciate it any comments. Anything you want to say fire away, I’ll! Listen like subscribe. Whatever you got to do.
Cooking system that I picked up my family, we hike a lot and bring our meals with us, and I often am wishing I had coffee. So I’ve had my eye on these for a long time and I finally picked one up. This is made by Jetboil. It’s called their personal cooking system and actually it’s their brand-new version called the flash. It’s exactly the same as their old personal cooking system version, except the neoprene sleeve here on the outside of the container. Has this heat indicator which turns yellow as the water heats up? So that’s kind of a nice feature if you’re multitasking at the campsite that you can keep an eye on it see how your your heating is progressing.
There’s a couple other little differences between the old personal cooking system and this one so I’ll point them out is as I come across them. But anyway, this is a really nice cooking kit to just throw in your backpack. You just take it, throw it right into the main compartment and you don’t have to worry that it’s going to tear your backpack or your tent or your rain gear, or anything because it has this plastic cup on the bottom and this also flexible plastic lid on the top.
So so there’s nothing here, that’s going to snag or or be sharp on on any of your ear gear. So let me break it down a little bit so the plastic cup on the bottom, besides being used as a measuring cup for your dry ingredients. It protects your bag from this metal part of the stove here, but it also protects this metal. You don’t want this getting dinged up too bad or anything. So that’s a really nice little protective thing there and you can use it as a cup I, don’t if you could eat or drink out of it, I’m sure you would.
If you had to right, um, let’s go to the lid, it’s flexible plastic lid! It’s like a charcoal, smokey translucent and that’s what’s different from the old version. I think the other one somehow is solid. You couldn’t see in it so now, like you, can see through this lid into your vessel as it’s boiling. Okay, it’s got a little sippy thing there that you can put on here and sip right out of this. So now the vessel is also a storage unit. So inside of here is the actual stove itself, as well as your fuel source.
Oh, what’s that that’s my that’s! My cooking I mean my coffee, French press, that’s an accessory that you can buy with the Jetboil stuff and I’m actually going to do a different video on making coffee so I’m going to set this guy aside. But that’s where I store it. You know it’s all! It’s all here, everything’s here. So the inside of this is a rust-proof okay, you can heat your water in it and you can drink right out of it. You can eat right out of it. You could heat water in here and pour your instant oatmeal or your hot cocoa or put your teabag in there.
Whatever instant coffee. This holds a leader. There’s a two cup mark in here, because a lot of things need two cups, mountain house and all that a lot of them have two cups, so it’s kind of nice to have that measure in there. So this is the cooking vessel. Okay, it has this neoprene sleeve on the outside. So when this thing has boiling hot water in it, I can just hold it right like that without fear of getting burned, it totally keeps you from getting burned. It’s very clever.
Has a nice handle here with a little loop? I. Wouldn’t hang this from my backpack, because if it got snagged on a tree or something I’m afraid it would rip the neoprene, so I’d be a little cautious with that. But it’s a nice little grab thing grab tab to pull it out of your backpack. So again it has the heat indicator. There has this neat little sleeve for your spoon or something okay, so the bottoms interesting has these fins and when the stove heats up, those fins distribute the heat evenly within this heating vessel and it’s funny because, as soon as you light this and start heating it little bubbles start showing in there it gets it’s very effective at what it does.
So if I were to actually drink, my tea out of this I would probably put the cup on it, and I could set this down without fear of dinging. This sensitive metal, soft metal there. Okay. So let’s take a look at the actual igniter unit. This is made of plastic here, some kind of metal there. It’s got the little igniter guy there. This is where the fuel source screws in- and this is the fuel regulator it can increase or decrease how much fuel you want to send to here. Okay, and when it is put together, you can easily grab this plastic in the handle here and detach it and not get burned at all.
I’ll show you that when I boil water I’m not going to do it in this video, ok, so that’s the stove unit part. This also is a feature that comes with the flash. It didn’t come with their original personal cooking system, but they do include it now as part of the kit with the flash, which is really nice, because what I originally was looking at. These I was going to buy this as the accessory, but it’s nice that it comes with it now. The I think they call it a tripod, but it’s a stand that you know adds about six inches of support, tear your little fuel can and I kind of like that.
It can spin around too, and it also has a little not just for the larger fuel canister. That Jetboil makes. This is their proprietary. Can it’s a 100 gram, special mix of isobutane and propane, and they say that their proprietary mix works best with their stove? That’s fine, but this 100 grammer container does fit and storage in here with the you know the whole kit, you know it fits nice, I, actually emailed them and I asked them their larger container. The 230 gram would that fit in here they said it’ll fit, but you won’t be able to fit the stove and everything so so anyway.
This is a nice kit. Altogether is a personal kit, so but 100 grams will heat up, 10 liters of water, so 10 of these and I’ve only been using a half so I’m going to get like 20 burns out of this one little can so so that’s pretty nice. So let me just kind of put it all this stuff talking and put it all gather. Okay, take that lid off screw the stove on make sure it’s off find the knotch this just screws on, like that. That’s it that’s your stove! This keeps it nice and solidly this I’m on a rock which is not even at all, I mean it’s on an angle and, and it feels very secure and you put your lid on put your water in your lid on and there you have it I’m not going to light it up today.
I’ll light it up in my next video, but I just wanted to show you what this kit looks like. Let me break it all back down and put it all back together for you and if it was hot, just grab it like this. No worries that cup right on it, cuz I, don’t want to dent or ding my metal in there. This won’t um rest I, don’t know about this. I know this is like painted or something but I. Don’t trust it so so the way I’ve chosen to store this is this tripod snaps right on the end of the canister I’ll put it in like that still goes on top the lid and that’s it that’s the Jetboil personal cooking system.
That’s the flash! Seven inches tall, four inches diameter, really nice kit. For that right, my bag get me some coffee, so I’m going to make two more videos, one I’m going to maybe make some coffee for you show you how this thing: fires up and the other one I’m going to show you how I carry it. I have an expedition 12 by 5, bottle, holder and I have a some more cooking cooking kit in there. So I’m going to show that to you and also how this fits right in the Jumbo Maxpedition jumbo pack, okay, so say hi to yo, yo, alright, so that there is the Jetboil flash hope you enjoyed the video and stay tuned for my other ones.
Okay,.

Kuzu coffee here and today we’re gonna teach you how to brew single, serve pullover from our one cup pouches. So first you’ll want to take one of our one cup pouches and tear it open. There’s a little notch right at the edge and take the filter out. Remember there are directions on the back, so if you’re ever confused, you can either watch this video or look at the directions on the back and take this guy off and when you take out the filter. You’ll have the filter with coffee inside and what you’ll want to do is tear the filter open right at the top there’s a perforation under the text that says open and you can just tear it open kind of all the way across.
The next step is to anchor it to your mug, so open those anchors place it on your mug and a pro tip is to fold the anchors back just like this, which will give it more security and it will keep the filter more stable on the cup as you’re brewing once you confirm that the filter is secure on the mug. Take your hot water. Just about 200 degrees and pour slowly let it drip through and repeat until you get about eight to twelve ounces of coffee, I should take about one to two minutes.
Once you’ve poured enough water to fill up your cup. If you can brew about eight to twelve ounces, depending how strong you like your coffee, you could you can let your filters sit in the mug for a little bit stronger cup. Once you’re done, you could pull it. The anchors bring it up to the top like so creates a little bag and put it throw away. Then all you have to do is enjoy your freshly brewed cup of kujou coffee, video shopping network and Amazon affiliate to see this product on Amazon click.
