This is a video about the rcbs accessory. Base plate number two i didn't find a lot of stuff online regarding how the. Base place looks so this is what the box. Comes in basic box inside which you have. Is the actual plate and instructions and. All the tools necessary to install the. Plate the tools that come with it are. Four wooden screws and an assortment of. Other screws that you can use for adding. Items onto the base plate base play itself it's just a metal piece has. Various holes in it so basically you're. Going to put the four wooden screws on their bolt it down to your bench and. Then the various letters here like c. Or d you'll use to put in your press. So your powder drop or other items like that now what you see on this side here. Is the base plate with my press and the. Powder drop and notice here's the. Screws with the washer for the pot of. The press and right next to it i had it. Uh just edit this one on here just so. You can see that you could put both of them on there it's missing the other screw here but there's the first screw. So they both will fit the press and your. Powder drops the only thing is if you. Have them both like that if your press. Is probably going to get in the way of when you're doing your your. Charging or your shells so it's probably. Best to take two of these and just use one for the press and one for the powder. Drop it's pretty easy to take off you. Just unscrew the bolts and then this. This will move out of the way but this is just a quick review of the rcbs. Accessory baseplate.

Welcome back youtube today we're going. To be talking about the rcbs rock. Chapter supreme single stage reloading press extremely nice setup very good. Value for the money it's very simple and. Straightforward not a lot of fancy features but for forming cases and things of that nature is a great press. Okay I'm going to show you some of the basic features of it but in a nutshell. You've got a nice sturdy rim here and. The handle is you know got a real nice. Profile to it good large size and a lot. Of mass the press itself the body of the. Press is extremely heavy and strong and. I believe it's a investment-grade iron casting or cast iron you've got just. Under four inches of clearance and then for the die choices you can use standard. Seven eighths a fourteen thread pitch dies pretty much your industry standard. Or you can remove this bushing that's in. Here and you can use the larger dies if. You want to reload like 577 450 martini-henry 50 bmg and so forth the 50. Bmg may not have white enough clearance. With this space in here but it should. Clear because on the box they show a got 1150 on it so the priming arm is set up. In a simple manner similar to the way. You expect on any single stage press it. Comes with both large and small priming. Cups that of course are easy to change out on your own this device right here. Catches all of you spent primers quiet. Reliably the arm of the press can be. Changed over to either left or right-handed as you may prefer this nut. Right here is an indexing nut for tightening out the arm of the press that's really about all there is to it's a really solid unit I'm going to prime some cases on it for you and load up some ammo. I've already been forming some of the 7/7 japanese arisaka ammunition on it or. Forming cases and it does very well with. Forming cases in general and it really. Made short work of that a conversion which is basically just simple 3006. Conversion but it definitely makes a short work of that conversion process it. Looks good very effortless priming operations on. This thing the actual amount of movement. And mechanical advantage that you get with the arm and everything and the. Leverage you get is outstanding i mean you can feel the primer seat firmly oh. Yeah it looks fun i don't know how many. Of you use separate priming tools for. Doing your brass I've always like to prime off the press just because i do. Prefer the feel that you get priming off. Of the press and that's just my. Preference but I've always preferred you. No priming on the press it takes a little longer but i just like the. Leverage you get all right I'm going to. Seat a couple of bullets on this thing. Remove the primer arm out of the way which is nice about this press just flip. It out of the way. Loading 174 green serum match kings from. Arasaka will try them out sunday very. Smooth ram a lot of good leverage. Available i mean it just feels right you. Now you can feel whatever things doing what's going on it's about. All this video was meant to be was just to show this press in action because it. Really is a nice piece of machinery it's made well i mean it's. Just solid and that's the bottom line they're not especially cheap but you do. Get what you pay for to a degree. I like this press too because it's got a. Real noticeable amount of over travel. When you set the press to bump you can definitely tell when it over cams right. There i mean it just does so. Well it's a great press. I'm just basically trying to show some of the linkage working from different angles just in case any viewer curious. As to how it all fell together i mean. This press i mean it just practically runs itself it's just a great setup well. Hopefully this video is pretty much summed this press-up i mean not to beat. A dead horse but that's about all there is to it's a great simple rig that. Anybody can use and if you got some. Monster case forming to undergo it's. Great for that also if I'm not mistaken. I believe our cbs makes a specially. Designed turret that actually screws. Into this press I'll have to do some further research on that but there is a lot of potential for upgrades as far as i know it's a great price either for. Entry-level or for an experienced hand loader you can't go wrong the rock checkered supreme.
Okay the moment you've all been waiting for the fires going okay so you're. Something you're gonna wait today. Videos today's so today's about a bunch. Of boxes with reloading stuff in it you know i got a few little nubs and stuff in there I'll show you after I'm gonna talk about my rock chucker press however. The name is misleading because it does not chuck rocks too bad it'll be so. Music but it's a pretty good press i. Reloaded a few wells I'm this is probably. A couple hundred rounds off of it easy it's not something that you use every day and i got some some of the stuff i. Would hear not everything came with the. Kit I'll show you the kit in the box. Here some of the stuff i will review. Separately this is everything it comes with and this is a boat of probably five for 5,500 bucks whatever it was that's. Pretty much everything it comes with and. You would think that it'd be enough i think you know but it's not there's always other things you got to buy so I'm gonna do probably each thing of the. Equipment kind of separately i will start with the press i might not get it all done today but it's just so much to do to cover so here's the press and how. It works is pretty straightforward you know you put your you got your shell holder here okay. And you'll have to get a different shell holder for different calibers this fits. No problem for the 308 and. Yeah make it difficult to do one hand but anyway this fits the 308 shell older. Or up to three 3/8 lapua now in here. I have the sizing and died of pop. Out the primer i didn't add it on but. You can get a what comes with the press. Is a little arm that comes out here what. You put in this groove here and when you're coming down it'll actually seat the primer for you okay and that's fine. And dandy at all but it's extremely slow. To do it that way so because you have to. Basically take the shell put the primer case in their okay flip that little arm. Bring it down it'll seat the primer case it'll probably see the problem a lot. Of guys but telling me why they don't like that as much is because you through. The arm you can't feel that the primer being seated is easy and what ends up. Happening is that you can over crush the primer into the casing i. Haven't used it so i don't know because. I used basically another tool that I'll. Show you but basically when you get the rock trucker press which you can buy the press by itself they will not come with a single die you have to buy your die separate because they don't know what calibrate them is shooting right so there's a lot of add-ons you're going to have to buy another but it is a it's a. Very solid process cast iron opposed to. Aluminum you're gonna pay more for it. But you know that's what that's why. People love this press it's a single stage press different stage presses a. Lot of people don't understand when you hear single stage you know two stage. Press you can get presses that will do. More than one thing for example this does one action out of high yeah I'll just grab my casing here I'm. Just curious well that buddy so yes you. Got one stage out of time so you put in your okay, so we'll see we put in my. Fresh piece so I've now shot I'm not. Gonna push all the way down there's this dry case, but we'll say the case is lubed up i put it in their okay i pop the. Primer out and you can see all the primers i got lying in there and it's popped out i pulled it up now the case of shape so i take the case out that's one stage now i put my primer in i now. Put the case back in okay and i flip the. Larm right down now see did the primer. Okay now take it out again i go over. Here then there's powder in their thank you for mr. powder i put it back in again I've changed my die I'll talk about the. Dye separately i grab my bullet put it on like so and. I'm definitely not gonna push it up it's not the right time i push it up now i got myself a round all done so that's uh that's pretty much. How it works but you can see that at. Each time you have to kind of redo. Everything when you have a multi-stage press which you'll pay a lot more for. You'll do one will take out the. Primer and it'll scoot over you'll be. Like a round eye that turns each time you pull the arm down and the next one you can put another shell case in it and it'll do that action again and the next action it'll then you know put it in a. Primer and you can lower the powder in. You know with one of these which I'll. Cover that separate then from there you can go and do it again it'll do the. Bullet and each stage wall you know it goes around so i you know you can do a heck of a lot more a lot quicker how. Many rounds per minute can you load i don't know because either way i do. Everything i do everything in different stages i you know for example i clean. All my cases at once i also i lean all. My cases at once i pop all the primers are shaped the casings all at once and then when I'm done that i load my. Powders and i put them all into a shell. Holder like so and i got some 300 win made here just for you to look at I'll load it all onto there and then once this is full of all the powders i usually don't do more than about five rounds at a time because one thing about reloading is you have to give it 110 percent attention if not your again the difference between a pipe bomb and a. Rifle is pressure so if you load you. Now if you're not paying attention you can overload the case with too much. Powder and you know or the wrong powder. You know which could be very violent dangerous so you want to do it as safely as possible so it's kind of one of those things that oh yeah well I'm just gonna sit down and I'm gonna do. 80 casings and you know nothing's gonna. Disturb me and everything you're gonna do your first casing and you're ready to go you've got all these sitting with powder and you pull the arm down here somebody called you and you kind of. Go do that you know because most of the time is like here's what'll happen can you get them to call back oh it's really important you gotta talk to them now okay so you go talk to them and then where were you when you came back you know or it shoots up the enough. Time night okay I'm not gonna get this all done so do little bits out of time now if you have a multi-stage you can do. As many rounds as you can do i always say do the rounds and tell it once you're not concentrating then move away from you know go do something else. So do a little bit whatever is you know maybe your epic i could load 300 rounds in a row you know and now if iron-clad. Concentration maybe you're that you've got a td and you can do three rounds or two rounds or whatever it is you find what works for you but as far as the press do i recommend that i highly recommend it was highly. Recommended for me other people are. Saying like this is the press that you know it's more expensive even the guy in. The story goes he goes you go he goes I'm not on commission and there's something i used to tell people in a store look I'm just giving you the honest answer it's not I'm not on commission you know it's just it works. So can you break these things yes you can break them you could twist them hence why you should never over force if. Something is really difficult to do there's probably a reason why something's probably jam or misaligned now i made a kind of makeshift bench. Definitely not solid enough make sure. You have a good solid bench that's how. You twist things and break things i just you know I'm just really careful when i. Do it and you know do as i say not as i. Do so to speak you know the dice very. Easy to get it is a standard fitting. From what i understand so if you have a look skewed be a layman's press or rbc. Ass i forget the other one there's a couple of different well it's quite a few different brands out there but the rcbs is definitely this is the rock. Trucker for ib it definitely is a very. Every everybody I've ever talked to that. Is majorly into reloading if you're going to buy a single stage press this is the one to buy that said yuma you're. Gonna get I'll probably see in the comments i had wanted it sucked you know but you know you find what works for you. Like i mean everybody can get that the. Product that was built on the monday or the friday this one. It's it I've had no problems with it i don't use it every day but i you know. I've got a again a couple hundred rounds. And I've only owned this thing for a little over a year again i don't use it every day but when i use it gets you know it sees its mileage so to get into. It you're gonna spend it like i mean be prepared to spend close to a thousand dollars by the time you've got everything you know but you could start with this will get you going plus the dye I'll have to buy separate no matter what calipers and you're. Probably the case trimmer that was. Separate i bought some things this is. The thing you best to buy a kit to start with because for example i bought this. When i first bought by what's called my. Winchester and I've already covered me. Loader kit i bought this and of course this. And that was pretty much what i needed to get started and then of course you. Get a books now the thing is when. You get started it's like okay well you want to get into more than i decided to get the press so now i have two basically two of these and this is very. Common with guys that get into reloading they'll start off with a press like this, and they'll be like okay well i do too. Much reloading to really be slowed down by a single-stage press so you know you. Could flog all this who somebody else who wants to get in reloading flog all this put it towards okay yes its something I'm gonna do something I'm gonna get into yes i can go up to a two-stage or an automatic press i mean you know you the sky's the limit of what you can do you know as far as reloading goes you know it's all okay well i reload you know 700 rounds at a time you're not gonna want a single-stage press for very long i don't load that much to me the single stage press it does what i want to do. I'm not providing the army with ammunition not by providing law enforcement with the ammunition I'm just providing me some target recreational. Ammunition and hunting ammunition so for me i don't need to do to stage surprise if you have the money sure but then. There's the guy who goes out, and he buys you know the ultra deluxe press and low. And behold he load reloads maybe once a year once every other a year, and he spent you know $$1,0001,500 $2,000 on. Something that's excellent and automated. But he never uses it you know the type of guy that and if you're this type of guy I'm not putting them down it's just it's just cuz i know what people are like with you know and stuff like that you know is they'll buy. 20 rounds okay, and they'll reload at once they realized that okay this is actually a lot of work no matter which way you go with it if. You're going for precision for example these things they'll give you an. Approximate granule at measurement if. You're loading precisely yes this is a quick way to reload for bulk but you. Need this you definitely need this so. What i do is i get this i fill it up i put it set my scale and i put it in there and then what i end up with is you. Now you know accurate accurate reloads then i get my accuracy so i have. To take my time no matter what if because i that's all i look for is accuracy not for bulk which you know you. Could say i look for bulk in the fact that I'm loading for accuracy multiple. Times over you know a couple hundred. Rounds out of time but i might not do a hundred rounds in a you know to me if i can get twenty ten rounds twenty rounds in a day loaded like that once you get. To the point where you're seating the putting in the powder and seating the bullets that that part goes quick but. It's all the preparation up to that point that's really slow inspecting the case is cleaning the cases sizing the. Cases popping the primers out that takes a while you know that takes a while it's. It's not difficult it just takes a while then of course you've got after that you. No dumping the powder in again i have. To powder measures but unfortunately i lost one of my little bowls or didn't. Come with it maybe and i don't know if i can get these separate if i can haul it because then i can you know kind of increase my reloading now let's say okay. Well that's too slow well you can get automatic things for example cleaning the cases that's one of the next things that'll probably build on to this is. Getting a case cleaner you know why a. Case trimmer in a case cleaner that's automatic is much quicker. And it's more automated the more precise. You can get the more precise you can get so there's a bunch of accessories that i can get so at some point i may say okay I'm gonna sew off this this and this I'll sell off everything and just great to another kit but for now this'll know next couple of years I'll get my money's worth out of it you know because again if you're going to spend a thousand fifteen hundred bucks on. Reloading its something that you want. To make sure that you like to do that it's worth it for you to do isn't necessarily cheaper to reload not necessarily depending on the caliber the. Bigger the caliber the cheaper kind of gets the more off common the caliber the cheaper it gets for example if you're reloading say 303 british you tend to. Save a bit more than if you're reloading. Say 308 which i 308 it's just because. It's so available common on the shelf that it becomes to the point where it's. Almost harder to reload it than it is to. Buy it not all the times i mean but i mean at one point i was getting the junk ammunition the russian stuff 11 bucks a. Box right there's there's no way i can you know 50 cent's around i probably. Load for between 60 and 80 cents around. On the minimum maybe a buck 22 a buck 60. On the high end depending on the bullet type and all that stuff but you know the. Casing is the only thing that's reusable out of a out of it so at the end of. The day you know a good solid press is what you need i don't know what else i. Could really say about it's such a basic thing that there's really not a lot you know like everything is sturdy all the connections are sturdy when you get it you put it together it's heavy probably weighs about 20 pounds i. Don't know maybe 10 pounds 15 pounds. Easy if you drop it or bump it in this. Cast iron you can break it don't over. Force it fairly easy to take care of you. Now just same with the dies and all that but anyway that's the beginning of the rough check chucker press i highly. Recommend one it doesn't really matter what you go with i do say if you are going to get into it either go ultra. Cheap like a lean loader kit which will. Make something the idea that you here's. The basic of it you're putting bullets together with a hammer okay so if that just makes you cringe. Then this is probably not the way you want to go but it's a great way to start I've haven't had any problem and I'm. Gonna dispel a myth right now that and. I'll just take this one so you can see it you get a little bit of load out of here this is almost everything you need but even when you buy this for like 30 or 40 bucks you're still going to need okay a case trimmer and a method of. Powder and that so you're still looking at by the time you've got your book and everything you're still looking at $200 to start you know this is cheap now people will buy this and I've seen them do the most dangerous things i just grabbed this they dump it into their shelf they don't cuz they do that's just. To scoop it doesn't tell you how much powder well it does but it doesn't tell you in grande grains and not every show. Is going to use the same grains but some. People say well you can't get any accuracy out of this those people are stupid that means they don't know what they're doing you can make the ammunition as. Accurate with this as you can with that. Providing you have the other supporting tools for example if i do not have a case trimmer then my accuracy is going. To suffer if i do not have the proper powder measure my safety will suffer the. Powder scale and so will you know that. That's where it gets the consistency is in the powder it's in the primers and the case lengths its details this just. Puts the bullets together and the hammer i mean it isn't matter if you have a cheap $2 hammer or a ten thousand dollar hammer it still works the same and then of course your calipers this is probably again the most important tool out of the whole thing cuz this tells you where your precision is so just to start you're going to need this and this. And this and that so you're looking at. About 200 bucks just to start into it minimum your mileage might vary and then. Of course those two tools so this just takes you from there for their sole interest and so the next question someone's going to ask is if that can. Reload ammunition just as accurately as this and just as good as this why would i want this well. The simple answer is for 10 to 20 rounds. An hour 40 to 60 rounds an hour that's. The difference if you have multistage. Press maybe it's a hundred rounds an hour 200 rounds an hour you get the idea so that's what you're paying for much. Easier to do law it's just it's its. It's smoother and quicker to do than it is with that because that every stage is by hand so to speak where this just kind of does everything more a little. But more automated for you even though you have to remove the show you don't do everything in stages so that's the basic of it I'll leave it at that I've. Got lots more to cover here i don't. Think I'll have time to do it all today i hope you enjoyed rate subscribe again if you're going to get a press i highly. Recommend this because this is a great quality press i don't work for the company or like that but you know I'm the type of guy who broke all my toys as a kid I'm no different as an adult man. You think i would change but i don't so when i buy something I'd rather buy something to spend a little more money even it's almost double the money the. Aluminum presses everybody says they're great and tell you know you're gonna bend them and twist them and to me. That's i just don't want the aggro nice solid cast iron it'll last you a. Lifetime and the good thing about it too. Is if you find that you want to upgrade. To another press away you go sell it off. You know you probably recoup half your. Money and put it towards you know. Basically something newer so anyway I'm. Gonna leave it at that but yes i give this one the major thumbs up so if you are looking at the rock trucker press it's pretty simple there's not a lot of details to it but it does what it's supposed to do it works the way i like it so there we go.
Hi I'm kent sakamoto senior product. Manager for our cbs and i want to introduce you to the rock chapter supreme master reloading kit this is our most popular single stage press the. Have a set of case neck brushes a case lube pad case lube and priming tool with. Small and large primer plugs a hex. Wrench set a deburring tool you have. Your unify our measure a funnel and the. New items for the kit are the nosler number eight manual and the m500. Mechanical scale with a tenth of a grain accuracy the rock chapter supreme master reloading kit from our cbs.
Hey guys its convoluting special welcome. Back to the channel preciate stopping by if you follow me on. This rim you've seen a preview or a snap. It was a while back but you know a. Couple months ago but you were saying. That he saw that i was getting into a little bit of getting started gathering. Gear for reloading i finally got around. To doing a video to show you what you guys I'll show you guys what i got i. Went with the rcbs rock sucker supreme. Master reloading kit has a starting. Point gives you a single stage you know. Rcbs rock chuck or press if you asked. Clover tack over at one gun channels. He's suggest going with a i want to say. It's dillon but i can't be you know I'm not sure progressive that you can take a. Part of the mechanism out so you can use. It as a single stage for learning then you can upgrade it later myself personally this is when oh i want an older version. But this is what i learn to reload on so. That's what I'm gonna continue with I'm not so worried about speed because i find it to be rather relaxing to reload. So I've just decided to say with the. Single stage but i do currently load for. Rifle well i learned originally load on. My 32 winchester special rifle which is. A neck depth 3030 old-school bottleneck. Rimmed cartridge which i have video on. On the channel if you want to take a closer look you know what you know you. Can look up the video on any why it's like to the very first video we ever posted anyhow the rest of the kit. It came with the press the uni flow. Powder measures the bracket to hold the. Powder measure two tips that i would. Thread into the pot into the bottom of the measure that are designed to have. Certain size case next fit inside it now one smaller one larger so that way you. Can dispense directly into casing a beam. Balance for weighing out the charges a. Reloading block brass catcher I'm sorry. Primer catcher not brass a multi size. Allen wrench a pad for the you put your. Case lube which is this here on here so. You'd roll your case back north on here lubricate him reduce the chance of getting stuck a hand primer and the tray. To go along with it which i have tried. On a couple of my 32 casings and it. Works fine now it was to my. Understanding that was the only option i had without buying some additional equipment so i could know what do my primers on the press itself opening it. Up today i come across a reloading you. Now a primer arm that when i look more. Closely i realize I'll be able to do my priming on my pressed which is again the. Way i learned to do it so that's the way I'll just continue doing it I'm not to say it's the best it's just what i know. There is some assembly required I'm not yet familiar with what. Everything is perfect example i have no. Idea what these pieces are I'll have to look that up on the manual you guys have seen some of this stuff not long after i saw it for the first time is the case. Trim and chamber tool. More parts for the reloading arm the one. The one part of the set. Besides the dyes which are caliber. Specific the one part of the set that. This doesn't come with that i still need. To get that i wish it would have come with its a powder trickle if you have a. Powder that throws consistently I've. Been told you can set up the measure. Once you've confirmed that's correct and. Then you can just throw directly into your casings hence the adapter tools i was always. Taught to throw the powder light into. The pan here on the balance because i. Actually learned on a beam balance then. You set the hill on a powder and set the now you know I've powder filled pan back. On and run a trickle charger to bring it. Up to the hell about what it needs to be so that trickle charger is the one piece. I don't have yet and then use a funnel. To put it into the casings. Themselves my apologies and this funnel. Is supposed to be good for it and from 22 calibers all up to 50 calibers I'm I'm. Thinking about getting myself a drop. Tube at some point so i can use that for. Certain cartridges. Other than that when i introduced the. Calibers that i have the equipment to the load I'll show you what I'll show. You what dies i got and what powder. Choices and this kind of stuff up made i will not be providing any you know. Reloading recipes that'll be something. You'll need to look up in a you know a. Sammie spec manual which i actually have. To have i forgot to grab those one thing. Ok sorry about that. Here is a nosler reloading guide 8 this. Actually came with the pressed the other. One i got is the barnes number 4 you. No i number 4 being that I'm in california I'll be required to hunt meat. You know medium game with non lead and i. Do shoot you know i am going to be hunting medium game they also black-tailed deer i have you know barnes. Is most likely I'm probably gonna go with being that it's one of the more accessible or not the cheapest but one. Of the more commonly available slugs for non lead so i picked up one of their. Manuals i do plan on picking up a spear. Manual as well because it's not a bad. Idea when you're getting ready to load a. New manual that's alright a new load for. A new cartridge or just changing loads or whatnot you're gonna want to. Reference a couple of different manuals some are written more conservatively some are written less conservative and. So you'll get even for the same slug. Some powder you'll get different charge. Recommendations so being able to. Cross-reference between a couple different manuals is a good idea so that. Way you can to feel out what a good starting load. Would be because you don't want to load it on too hot because you when you fire. A gun it is a controlled explosion the. Last thing you need to do is loading a. Lot hand load something incorrectly and. Turn that controlled explosion into a non controlled and have a pipe bomb going off in your face there are a lot. Of people over on gunn channels that. Now a far sight more than i do and. There i actually asked them questions as i get a chance clover tack is one of them i don't have. The i don't have logos form but. Seahorse is another one and the crazy. Scotsman has suggested him as one of the things he suggested timox he loads is actually to look up the re loaders. Network.com which I'm gonna try to get over there to get some more information as well alright guys i appreciate you. Stopping by just kind of wanted to give you a rundown as to what equipment i got. YouTube regulations prevent me from. Showing you the process i do plan on. Making a video once i get almost then. The next time you see this it will be set up i do plan on making a video that. Shows kind of the step by some kind of. Some steps that i use and that. Will be available over on gun tube org which is the you know site created and. Owned by night strike if you haven't checked it out yet i highly encourage you do so it just recently went through a series of upgrades which is. You know lovely to hear i mean that's. What I'm glad to hear they're doing well i know he is receiving money from. Patreon but not nearly enough and so if. You can help out that'd be much appreciated you know you can also check. Those you can check me out on gun tube. But you know I'd org so you know i not. Calm your gun tube work as well as gun streamer and utah. Gun exchange or utg you know or huge. Tube as we call it as little well as you. I also oppose to Instagram and. Occasionally to you twitter usually. Twitter's more of a when I'm posting something else and it goes out on twitter to announce that I've been posting it's not something that i do a. Lot of anyhow guys i appreciate you. Stopping by have a wonderful day.
Hello the world time enjoyed here will. Share with you the unpacking of the. The Newest addition to our reloading system. Here this is the it's not complicated it is the rcbs supreme master reloading kit. I like these guys because they have a lifetime warranty on their gear but since i don't often open up new gear i. Thought we would take a second to but. You see what's in the box if you like me you're curious so let's open it up and. See what we got it's not a progressive. Press as a single-stage press what we. Have first things first. Yeah our loading blocks so this is for. Various calibers you'll see here they're marked on two I'm sure if you flip it over its three and four different size. Holds hold different sizes of shells so. When you're working on your shells there's enough room here to get your hands in between and pick them out while. You're priming and go priming and casing and resizing and powdering it always off so loading block this little piece of. Literature here this is a spear reloading manual this is currently version 14 this comes as part of the kit for those of you that are just curious about as buying the kit itself or buying. The parts individually this manual by itself is about 50 bucks so this kit ranges between the lowest I've seen it. Is on nachos com4 289 although they're. Sold out currently let me think. Currently midway sells it for 320. Cabala's does it for 380 and bass pro. Sells it in the store for 354 so this. Kit came from bass pro the manual is 50. Bucks of that all on its own so just. Keep that in mind so you're getting a pretty good value manual for your press not really that. That complicated to use as you can tell the instructions are about four pages long this is your hand priming tool this. Gets a simulator this is for putting. Primers on you lay all your primers in. In here it feeds them through one time and you prime your cases that way so. Powder funnels very small opening. It's got a screw base on the bottom here some of the lock nuts and. Pieces for the press assembly everything. Get more pieces for the press a rotary. Brush for cleaning. Case cleaning tools allen wrench for. Assembling the press and changing tools. Our making adjustments very you know not. A big savings there but you could buy this pretty much anywhere it does take the sizes on that's not everything from 120 to 5/32 case loom. Which we were never well not to say never, but we're not going to use much of ever because I'm using i use a carbide. Sizing die i mean a carbide dies as. Opposed to steel dies so i don't need this case lou pad which again hopefully. I out of me but comes with a kit if you. Don't like it just reset but you go for. My cleaning tool and whatnot here. It's a nice little tool for cleaning. Your primer pockets a stripping tool. This is a manual case trimming tool it's. Not the fun one if you will work at this if you do it this way but it is included i don't know the price if. You bought it by itself but I'm going to say somewhere around probably 15 20 bucks but this allows you to debug and. Trim you clean your cases and now we're. Down to do parts and this pretty box. Contains our powder measure yay what. Once calibrated in measures delivers. Powder to our cases let's see it in. Detail well better handle goes here this. Is your juice with just my lab over. Reloading scale 505 of five our cbs. This piece by itself is well i saw that. I use for a hundred bucks they tend to go for about 110 dollars 125 you might. Find was lowest 99 so just a heads up. Here if you like me and you already have one of these just sell the one your hand i don't really need to I'm probably. Gonna keep you for a while because you know two is better than one out that I'm. Gonna keep the box for now there's out. Scale let's be careful not to damage the. Scale figure out this packaging it is a. Fairly sensitive instrument so try and treat it as such that way go okay. There's our scale of course it's not. Simple yet but that's what it looks like. There're the pieces that you will need so. Hang right hither okay so here's your. Reloading scale for measuring your product don't think that it goes with. Your breathing scale to pour powder into. Your shelves if you're gonna do it by hand order test your loads or let me use. A powder measure i hope and finally oh. The heaviest part of this package if you. Buy this thing online just feel we're probably going to be around a thirty to thirty-five dollars lluvia if it in charge because it weighs about 35 pounds, so he doesn't mind if your local store. Has it for you three-fifty you find online for 320 wells. You might can get about the same price in the store so there is the guts to the. Rcbs o single stage press she's a heavy. Turkey there we go. As everything that comes by the rock. Trucker supreme master reloading kit okay press cross your powder measure. Some tools to work with funnel cakes. Trimmer cleaner primer loading block. Blew his head scale and manual okay so. Really truly you're going to save a few. Bucks by buying the kit so if you're just getting into reloading this is a press i really like rcbs is great if. Anything you buy from him ever breaks and i mean ever you just send it back, and they replace it they will a lot of times just give you a new piece free charge their warranties awesome it's a lifetime on everything they make from dies to presses everything if i break. This if i smash it with a hammer if i drop it's a florida cracks chip whatever they cover it for life okay. So very cool thing about rcbs. That's all for now not going to keep you. Guys long just kind of intro video. And I'll probably put this in this part in other video down the road but i would record today so here it is had a good. Day up.
Once the dies have been adjusted, they never need to be removed or readjusted. Simply snap the turret with dies into the press and you’re ready to reload another caliber.
The Quick Change Bushings make changing dies a snap and accomplishes the task in seconds. Once mounted on your die, you’ll never have to adjust the die again unless you want to. It saves time, eliminates guesswork and ensures the consistency of your reloaded product. Per 2.
Features a patented quick-change bushing system that lets you change dies with a simple flick of the wrist. With Lock-N-Load technology in your reloading press, you can stop loading, change dies, and start loading another caliber in seconds. If you load more than one caliber, Lock-N-Load will dramatically speed up your reloading efforts. To change calibers, simply twist the die counterclockwise, remove die and insert your next preset Lock-N-Load die and bushing. Because they remain locked in their Lock-N-Load Bushings, your dies stay exactly as you set them. The positive locking action of the Lock-N-Load Bushings hold the dies in rock solid, perfect alignment. The combination of six locking lugs and the close tolerance of the tooling firmly grip the die bushing in place in the press for maximum rigidity and accuracy in reloading. Rubber O-rings on the die bushings give you a better feel when the die is inserted and holds the die tight against the locking lugs to prevent accidental loosening. Once you try Lock-N-Load from Hornady, you’ll never want to go back to your old system.
It’s the reloading press that pioneered quick die changeovers. The Lock-N-Load® bushing system allows for super-fast bushing release, letting you change dies and set up quickly. Change the dies, adjust, tighten the lock ring and you’re ready. Once dies are set for a specific load, this system lets you remove and reinstall dies in seconds. An overbuilt, professional-grade, cast-aluminum frame and linkage ensure durability and lasting service. Features include a Primer Catcher and three Lock-N-Load Die Bushings. The large, easy-grip, ball-style handle is long for increased leverage while reducing effort. The Power-Pac linkage and solid-steel arms multiply leverage applied to make sizing large cases easier. Stability and rigidity are assured by the high-strength alloy frame, and its unique angle gives you outstanding visibility and easy access to the cartridge in the press. An integrated Positive Priming System™ ejects spent primers at the top of the stroke, picks up a new primer and self-aligns to feed and insert the primer at the bottom of the stroke where leverage is optimal. The self-aligning primer arm also allows for easy manual insertion of primers without having to raise the handle. This makes priming easier than ram prime units and better than old-style priming arms. Dies and shell holder not included.
Want to start loading your own high-quality, accurate handloads but intimidated by all the equipment you’ll need to buy? This kit has everything you need to start making your own cartridges in one convenient package. You’ll receive a Lock-N-Load Classic single-stage Reloading Press(described above), a Lock-N-Load Powder Measure, a precise 1,500-grain Digital Scale, three Lock-N-Load Die Bushings (dies not included), a Primer Catcher, a Positive Priming System, a Handheld Priming Tool with additional primer tray, a universal Reloading Block, a Chamberring and Deburring tool, a Powder Trickler, Powder Funnel, One Shot™ Case Lube and the Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading. The only things you’ll need to get started are the dies, shell holders and cartridge components.
Hey what's up everybody. Brando mcwillie here doing another reloading video seems that people have. Been really enjoying those so i continue. To make a little bit more first and foremost today the carry weapon is the. Kel-tec p38 ii alright kind of like to. Show people they haven't seen my stuff before i kind of like to show the different weapons that i carry on a daily basis because i think it's kind of cool to see if people that do the. Reviews actually carry the stuff they're reviewing so i usually do and i carry a. Variety it just depends on what I'm wearing that day and so forth but i. Thought ways thought that was kind of cool so today i wanted to talk about the. Actual reloader itself I've done a couple of videos on how to reload but i. Never actually went into detail about the my actual press and i kind of wanted. To show that today and kind of show what it came with and what yet so I'm going. To take the camera off the tripod so i can move in a little bit closer and just start taking a look at the press itself. Now show you the box that it comes in here I'm not going to take it out but this is the hardy lock and load classic loader it is not to kit okay i didn't buy the. Kit i bought the actual reloader by itself and it actually comes with the. Loader itself and you actually have to. Take the handle and actually adjust that. And put that on that's not together but everything else is put together for you so you don't have to do any assembly and. If my memory serves me correct i did get. Three of the lock and load die bushings. That came with the loader as well okay. So i didn't have to go out and have that expense for that first time a. Couple of other things that it comes with is the tray that is used to hold. The spent primers okay and that basically just locks on here okay it. Also comes in with a primer tool or primer feeder and two primer i guess you. Call them size sizes or something like that i don't know what you call it but basically i have it set up now for the small primer size primer and this. The one that you would use for the large primers and basically it just unscrews in screws in here but the press itself. Does not come with any mounting hardware i purchased that myself and basically as. You can see here i have like just a basic bench that i had built and it just. Bolts directly on to that bench with some wood screws or wood bolts basically. And used a large washer to hold that in. Place looking at it from this side not. Much difference here you have more access to the bolt but it does a pretty good job and one thing that i recommend is as you load make sure you have a. Quality dent setup as even this one. Which is set up pretty good i think still wobbles a little bit as i pull. That lever arm down but that's not a big deal it still works fine for me the primer. Feeder basically if you can see and. There is a little notch and this feeds. Directly under there and so when i go to. Raise the or lower the ram there the. Primer will be pushed into the casing. Okay so kind of cool so this is what you. Get with it I'm pretty pleased with it. Now if you've seen my other videos you know that i like them a lot and i kind of give you an example of how the lock and load system works and I'll do that with some nine-millimeter dies I'm going. To put this back into the tripod so i can work there so basically here are. Some poor nate'd eyes these are 9 millimeters and if you look at the die. Set the block and load bushings are. Already set so i basically have a set of bushings for each one of my dies kind of. Expensive that's the downfall but it makes it easier for me to load my. Ammunition so i like it so I'm not worried too much about it but basically in order to get that to work is. Basically is basically dropped that in and twist and. It's locked in place and i don't have to worry about screwing it down and making adjustments and so forth now i know that. With a traditional set of dies you can. You know have your retaining not here. Locked into place so once you get it. Flush with the press you don't have to worry about it anymore but still to me this is just so much easier and i just like the way that i. Have it set up so no complaints there at all very easy if you don't want to go. Through the expense of ordering the expensive die bushings you can simply. Just put one in there and then leave it locked in place and every time you want to change out a set of dies you can just unscrew it just like you would in a traditional press so you have the option to do both which i think is kind of nice. Another thing that i am probably i say. That I'm going to get but i haven't yet is there's a tool here that you can. Actually feed primers down into this. Area and it would come straight down and feed new primers here so every time i raise the ram and lower the ram the new. Primer will be fed in i just haven't done that yet there's a spot here for it but i just haven't done it all in all. I'm haven't had any problems with this press at all the only thing that i have had happened this is probably just out of. Wear in use is this pin sometimes will. Pop out and i just have to push it back. In with my hand it's just a retaining pin it's not a big deal I've never even greased this sucker up you can see that it does get dirty you kind of do that when my camera is not that good does get turi dirty dukes working with us spent primers and the dirty brass and all that kind of stuff but it's been great i. Haven't had any hiccups with it at all no problems with it and it was a bit of. Press that I'd highly suggest you know it made it turned me on to other hornady stuff if you look i have a lot of. Hornady dies a lot of horny equipment in. My reloading get up and ability kind of. Happened of this press you know i was going to. Get this press or the rcbs rock crusher i found out that the rcbs rock crusher. Was cast in china and for some reason. That just did not do it for me so i. Decided to get the hornady no one knowing that it was made 100% in the states so that was a big thing for me as. Well so anyway a basic video showing you. The press for those of you who are looking to get one you know i suggested i like it my next. Press would probably be the hornady auto progressive press and I've been loading. A lot of handguns ammunition and i would. Like to have the ability to load a little bit faster now i can load about. 50 rounds in about 45 minutes on this press right here and i can shoot 50 rounds in about 2 seconds so you do the math there so an auto progressive press would be nice, but they're really expensive and i want to make sure that i like this before i started investing a lot of money into reloading i. Found out that i do enjoy it's not something i do every day but it's something that i do maybe once or twice. A month maybe look more net maybe like. More like once a week that i come out here fiddle with something okay and then i get to the point where I'm low on ammo that i start making more so i don't i enjoy it especially during hunting season i like doing rifle rounds that sort of thing too I'm kind of into the ballistic stuff so if you have any questions please comment let me know what you think and you know if you like my videos please subscribe I've got some more gun videos coming up and i hope you guys enjoy those as well you guys take care bye.
Hello youtube how's it going well the. Good news is my bullets here that i had. Left out there after i had cast him for like four or five months ira. I got him quoted they seem to be sizing. Just fine without with any great problems so on fact that i thought i'd. Do a little quick review on my new press i bought i bought louis replace miley. Single stage press which would give me. Good service but it was a little weak. And move around when i had some really. Big sizing to do or i went it really. When i was using the rcbs saul short. Dies on my 300 blackout site really puts. A pressure against it that lee hwon used to just just move around on me and flex. So i built this and we get some of this. Stuff i breed in my room i lubricate. That with a case lube and it gets a little bigger top just makes everything work better anyways i bought me this hornady hecka had it. For two months finally the first time i. Got to use it just works so good i mean. You can tell now that got it how thick. The steel bars are on it compared to. What i had course it's the different than what you're paying works really. Good i might even try reloading some. Rifle ammo on it just for the hell of it i love my hand dillon 650 but we do a. Little short quick run it's not all bad. To play with a single state i've bought me a powder scale that's. Automatic which is nice you just type in what you want and it just spits it out so that's cool i use this mostly for. Resizing bullets and i also use it for. Like i say prep work on brass i'm i. Write the brass i d prime it sometimes. I'd be priming it by hand if i'm bored but i can deprive it on here and case. Size it cuz you got a little bit right and i'll actually do cuz my brass doesn't get filthy my brass just drops. On my cement and so i can actually do. The process it without you know getting. The dyes all filthy so i'll go ahead a. Little bit do all that get it resized. Trim it if i need to and then i'll go. Ahead and run it through my wet tumbler. To clean it it comes out really nice and clean and then i'll run it through is. That dylan loudoun i don't have to use a resizing die of course which is ok on. The rifle but it works. The only problem i've ever had and this is not a problem the deal and that's the problem with how clean the brass comes. Out of the the wash is sometimes it will. Catch on the case expander cuz the brass. Is so clean on the inside even you'll. Have to push it and it'll pop a little bit i'll actually looby outside of that with some dry lube i got dylan's answer. To it is you know just humbly clean your brass with media and not wet clean well. I don't like all that stuff because. Quite frankly it gives me coughing fits to use that stuff and i don't want to do it and the brass is is clean and it takes a long time don't want to let you wet clean so. That's what i do when i put up with it sticking now on that on there yeah this. Is the first actual reloading thing i've gotten to do in my room it's all been cleaned really room flat home was thinking i'd have to recast this stuff because it got so hard but good it's. Double sizes okay quick this press is a lot more power than the other one does i barely have to give it any effort at all we're on the other one i'd have to. Stand up sometimes hold it and just this. Is this easy of course 357 aren't bad. Anyway because i don't sighs in the 356. Exercise in the 357 works really nice. Pick me up a 380 a little american ruger. American rifle threaded the barrel so. I'll be able to use my silence on if i ever get my paperwork. So anyways boy when i was reading i was. Up north on my cabin and i've had a bottle of it eight or a five pound oh it. Looks like an eight pound of it's pipe on trail boss guys reading on trail boys. You can load all kinds of stuff with that down use it for subsonic well hell i'm. Gonna give that a whirl and some stuff oh i'm leaving loves them subsonics for. The 4570 just for the hell of it okay i. Gotta shoot some i got crazy i got a lower 400 brass board i bought. But i tend to go nuts and darn if i. Didn't load all all the brass subway. Like i'm gonna shoot 400 rounds of 40 facets so whenever i shoot i always get. That red cloud engine fire 10 rounds down lorraine i got to build me up on a batch of you of spent brass so i can. Play with it again but at the wait a while though. So i got so i bought some a little bit. Of manufactured ammo one box for the 383. Excuse me and i shot four rounds through. It i'd like to shoot a little bit of. Factory first before i start throwing my hand loads in it that way i got problems. With i know the guns working before i started throwing in another variable which is my crazy stuff maybe this is. Just a little quick review on my hornaday black and load single stage. Press love it's worth every time it's. Really nice i don't have a bass guitar. It's got a little basket goes here for the be priming i normally deep rhyme by. Hand i got a little cute little deal like that deep rhyme with which is. Handheld you can do it anywhere and do it sitting in the house and do it one night as i do it sitting out sighs nice but it's a little cool for that today because it's winter time just about. Coming up on the first of the year just. Sitting here playing i got to go in real quick and my granddaughter's here so she can open her presents she wasn't here christmas just wanted to do a quick. Review what i had done a video and forever there we are. My not gonna have to do tests and really. Those are sitting out there i forgot about him what happened then the trail. Being all everything's clear so i don't know if i'm gonna do 45 before i could really want to cast a 45 acp i got a new. Mold just can't wait to play with that bad boy. I have the bullets for the 308 i got the. Dies ordered and stuff i'm gonna blow in. With the tradable ross powder i can load. The smaller the lighter bullets subsonic. There's a load for time on the website hodgkins 308 on 150 grain bullet well. Mine 153 great yes i'm gonna try those. Same i'm walking away if i'm losing your. Audio it's the same same size bullet and. Look 300 black but you know there was that trail boss i bought that hell a year or two ago and just stuck it on the shelf forgot about her fact i even. Bought that it had a local gun store i. Didn't buy it online here's what i paid for it but i looked at it a while that's a lot of money for my five-pound sorry what i did is i tend to save it but you. Don't use very much gets so big i'm kind of excited i wanna play with that. I brought my new gun oakland tactical. They're really nice people to deal with they got a nice website went down there. Drove down there from where i live 20 flint and saginaw terrific people and wanted to buy some. Primers they want to pay a hazmat fee. Just for a some box of primer so i've never seen these before i did a little. Searching on the internet for him didn't. Find a heck of a lot a few people using them some people liked them some people didn't so they were cheap enough god. I mean retail that's what they were if. They're any good i might have to give them a call see if they have a bunch and go down and pick up like four or five boxes but i only bought 500 brass for. The 308 and i'm going to share him half with my son-in-law as he's i bought a. 308 weird they are type design at an. Auction i got it it was a little screwed up that. Wasn't happy with it i just says you know i'd rather have a. Ball to action so tony he was like huh. Buy it from you so i gave a little deal and i took a little hit on up in that very big he would have paid me what i offered for it i want to get my deal so. I sold that to him and i bought me a bolt action truth is i got the ars you. Know why yeah but they are in case you have to use a bit i really just to play i like shooting bull action i really like shooting a single-sized those are fun but bold actions are probably my second favorite. So we're gonna try and find out if anybody has any comments about these primers let me know we got good news bad. News these are large rifle is that the. Hell of a deal on i think they're made in russia or something ok i don't know. Nothing it's russia obama seems a hater but i don't have any problem with him. Never understood why russia eyes hated us and we hate to do during the second. World war we helped them a lot and they helped us we were allies yeah i know we. All i never understood why we had to. Hate each other i've never made these sense talk to. Everybody i hope everybody's having a great holiday hope you had a good christmas hanukkah if you have a chanukah and new year's coming so see. You next year hopefully it'll be a better year than this year bye-bye.
Lyman has taken reloading to the next level with the Brass Smith Turret Press, which features an extra-large, eight-station turret machined out of solid cast iron. The largest press available from Lyman, its die station conveniently holds up to two complete four-die sets or up to four two-die sets. The turret bolt makes changing turrets quick and simple. The rigid, powder-coated cast-iron frame and 1" dia. ram are large enough to work the largest cartridges. The experts at Lyman have created the straight-line primer feed to deliver smooth, reliable and precise operation. The comfortable ball handle can be changed for right or left-handed operation. For use with any standard 7/8"-14 thread dies and standard shell holders.
Okay guys if you want to see how easy it. Is to change this turret on a lyman 8. Station turret press hang on and we'll. Show you how Okay it's a real simple job I'm going to. Show you how to change the turret and set up my 308 dies there's a couple ways. To do this i think the intended way of course i. Don't read the manual like everybody else there's a hole in this not on the. Top of the turret you stick the handle in here and then all you do is to turn a. Little bit spin the not grayed out i actually don't like doing that the. Threads are really longer than not well. It's a bolt actually so i do it. Differently i just take my little impact. Driver here put the socket on the top of. The knife bend it off it's way faster. Way easier okay now there is a washer on. The top that makes it all work because. There's a there's a spacer there's a. Bushing in the middle of the turret to. Keep it so the turret can spin but yet the bolt can be tight when you get it. You get the bushing and you get the turret but you don't get the handle and the not even though the pitcher makes it look like you do now also there's a little ball bearing right. Here that your detent don't don't lose that it'll fall right. Out of there and don't ask me how i know. So how to do is you set this on here. Line up the hole good turn nut your bolt. Started run it down you're all set it's. Tight it's all done and it's still turned. Because of that bushing so put the. Handle back in inside where we want i like to start and. Handle out of the way so the first one I'm going to put in now this is a lien. Excising die i don't use that very often. But I'll keep it here so i don't you know keep it with the rest of the 3:08 stuff i keep all my dies together that's. Why the other ones full there's actually only two calibers in that 6.5 and 223. Are the only two that's in that but i got a lot of those so then this is my. Actual lyman full-length resizing die i. Use all different kinds of days i have. Reading and i have lee and then this. Line and set now you put your handle all the way up turn this down till it. Touches i like a little cam over because. This press will do it so i usually turn into the extra quarter. Turn or so and then maybe a little more. Then that there and tighten it down and. You tighten the setscrew if you want now. I have some cam over make sure get. My full length sizing this is your cedar. Die move that into position and i screw. That down but what i do with this is i. Take a case and i put a case in there. And then i run that all the way up in. Then i turn this die down until it touches the case. There it's touching then I'll back it. Out of turn because i don't want it to. Crimp i don't use a crimp for my bolt. Guns so that's tighten that down and then you. Won't be definitely won't hit and crimp your case now and you have plenty of. Adjustment with your cedar stem to get. That where it needs to be I'm not gonna seat any bullets today but i will I'll run one through my sizer guy just. To show you i feel okay lube on it very. Little too much and you'll bend the shoulders too little and you'll stick. The case so it's kind of fine line. There push that in out and you're all. Done now if you want drop it in a case. Gauge drops right in it's all good it's all full length your size that dice setup so if you have any questions ask. Then in the comments and like i said. That's it that's all there is to it have a good one guys thanks for watching.

Started a new hobby bullet reloading ice. Too but i started shooting a lot more. Just because i picked up my interest a. Little bit some reason i don't know why but i shot a little bit years ago and. Then ice piqued my interest again i have. No idea why but I'd enjoy it just shooting i don't carry but anyhow this. Is a video just on this lead 1000 press. Which I've seen quite a few videos of. Bottom and most guys do not like them. Well i wouldn't say most I'd say half-and-half 50% don't like them 50 cents. Like him and i like it but i like to. Tinker with mechanical things so to me. Would it oh he's operating operates good and it. Operates most of the time and it's very it's me usually it does something wrong. Either i don't follow through with the press or something screws it up but it doesn't take all it takes about a minute to get it going again and you can let up 50 shells bullets or let me get this. Right to be politically correct i guess. Rounds i guess it would be called 50. Rounds i probably only loaded maybe 400. Rounds at that just to see if i could do. It you know and see if i liked it and i do like it i picked it up for 240 bucks. But that wasn't just the press was like 180 now these just round figures, but they're close and then i got. Also the scale when i picked it up hornady scale which i think he said it. Was like a $30.00 scale $29 or something. And i got some primers one box primers. There's couple boxes there and i also got bollocks i think two packs a full 200. Poets i think a hundred twenty-five. Nine-millimeter by the way 125 grain and. I think i don't know 15 grain i don't. No 145 on her but that don't matter they're just about $1 more per hundred. Between the two different grains the potter was $22 so like i say everything. Come — it was under 250 250 bucks and. That was enough to get started where the. Guy who sold me this thing he had hornet. Be there we're gonna be loader we're not. Going to be I'm sorry um reading i think. Reading loader you know i wouldn't have. Walked out of there with the loader just. A loader you know just the operating thing as what's out there dies and goes out to powder measure. Without all that so it to me this is the. Way to go if you like to tinker if you. Want something that's gonna work smooth right out of the box which this did sort. As soon as i set it up it worked to find but i needed to know what i was doing it. Had to read the directions if you're not. Mechanically inclined I'd stay completely away from reloading completely but i haven't used any other. Re loaders so and i can't really say that. I guess that's a broad statement. But anyhow if you're looking at one and. You like to tinker with your car or anything else and you do like shooting its worth getting one right.
No. Hey guys kid hill here gone scare and. Freedom today I've got a review or a leave progressive 1000 reloading press i. Picked one up on ebay back when reloading presses were really hard to come by and i paid about i think. I paid about two hundred and seventy dollars plus shipping at that time they were going for over five hundred dollars for this press so to me that was pretty good deal without after the hype is all. Settled down of course the prices have dropped, and they're much easier to. Acquire however i needed something that would load nine-millimeter because i. Shoot a lot of nine-millimeter i have several and yeah i just had to have a. Press and i really wanted to get to be. Able to reload some 9-millimeter so I'm. Going to go ahead and do a review of my leave progressive 1000 press today and. Show you how it works and how easy it is. To operate today we'll be reviewing the. Lee pro 1000 progressive three-stage. Press for 9-millimeter and I'm going to. Show you guys how it cycles. The first thing with the lead progressive press that you'll notice is there's a red hopper for powder. It also has just below that a disc. Powder measure it's an auto powder measure and it does measurements by. Volume moving down you will see the dies. And over here is the primer magazine and. See if we can get a better picture of that the primer magazine is basically a. Place that if i hold the light right you'll be able to see all the parameters i have loaded basically you just load up. A bunch of primers i try to keep it about a hundred and no more for safety reasons but you load up about a hundred primers in there, and they trickle down. Into your press automatically sometimes. You might have to give this thing a little tap like that and it usually you. No knock some of them down the hole like it's supposed to if they quit flowing then moving along you have these. Big tubes here full of empty brass and i. Believe each of those tubes there's four of them and i think they hold about 25. Rounds approximately and then down lower. Is where the action happens. You basically have some places where your shells rotate I'm going to start. And show you one i could do several up. To three at a time in there but I'm just going to do one and explain what's. Happening as it's going around the first. Step is that we're going to put an empty brass casing in so I'm going to pull the handle back a little bit and I'm going. To manually insert one you'll notice that the case still has the primer in it. The old smith primer we're going to knock that out of there this is what happens in the first pull of the handle there's actually a needle up in there. That you can see it's right there and it. Will actually poke the primer out, and we'll do that right now oops sorry I'm really shaky. Gotta index the round first there it's. Indexed you can see and then it's going. To go up into that neil there you sorry. About the lighting guys and it has just now put the primer out and then down it. Comes it will spin over to get a new primer put in on the up push of the. Adil so we push it forward and it just. Seated a primer i felt it go in and then. You'll also notice down below that I'll. Come around the websites you can see this station up here is where the powder. Will dispense from once that casing goes. Up in there, so we're going to go ahead. And crank it up in there it's going to. Drop some powder down there it was it. Just filled with powder my press is a. Little sting at about this point here and then it's going to swing over here. Where i can put a slug in it and I've. Got both hollow points and roundels I'm. Just going to use a round nose will slip it in on their just like that and you'll notice up there it just goes. Right in there and trips it down a. Little scrimped and down it comes sorry. For the shaky camera and it just spits. It put down on this tray and there you. Have a nine millimeter round and the. More you make the more they spit out so yeah that's a pretty little slick device. I love it I've already loaded almost the. Full box not quite but of those full-metal-jacket round noses and i like. It i really like this press there are a few things they don't like about it like how stiff it is after it loads the powder on the back up so it kind of. Hangs on me for some reason not real sure why kind of afraid to put some lube down there because I've heard lube can mess up the primer and stuff like that so i don't want to get any lube down there I'm kind of afraid to do something like that so I'm not sure what's causing it to stick maybe because it's new and it hasn't broken in yet or maybe that's just common with these i don't really know but i think what else is there oh yeah. When i first got this press also from the factory i had to use this to set the. Depth of the seating basically for these. The first bullet i ever did i crimped it. Way too far and it went way down into the shell. Casing and that's not what you want to do so what i did to fix that is i took a factory federal 9-millimeter round and i. Indexed it into the press here there's a. Way to put the press in the neutral by pulling it about half-way up and then. This thing will free turn and you can index brass into it and go and reverse. Kind of like this and you can just index. It well i indexed it to the position of the crimp and it had a slug on there already. So i just cranked the handle up in there. And then i went up here and i dialed it down until i felt the screwed that down. Until i felt it touch the tip of the. Round nose slug on the factory load and then i knew i was at the proper seating. Depth for these type of slugs and of. Course it just spits it back out when you're done i can tell you guys right now this is very addicting it's almost nerve calming i would say actually like. Too real and then i would it's almost like an addiction and worse than smoking cigarettes i. Think i can't wait to like put the next. One in and create the handle a few times is kind of kind of cool let me reload a couple more just for fun of it. Not too bad. I've been putting the tray like this so. I've got several it's kind of dark. Murray what's a nice little white your. Blue crazy like what yeah bullets not. Too shabby. Cute. Actually like the little press and there. Is something else i want to talk about on this press and you'll notice there's this round thing and I'm pretty sure you. Can see that there's a ton of primers in here this thing can be dangerous. I have recommended to only load about a. A Hundred of the primers in there and the. Reason is this is an automatic feed from. This primer magazine down this tube here. Into your press and you'll kind of see. If i swing around over here that there's some maybe if i get the camera on the. Bar there are some primers down in here. Well it's really hard to show you but there're some primers that you can see, and they automatically feed down and. This little what does that do that. Little device right there presses them. In and sometimes if you get one in there. Kind of wrong it could crush it and of. Course we all know what happens when you crush primer you risk ignition and if. You ignite that primer. You're going to blow this thing apart. And get hurt or something else there are. Some videos out on youtube that show that actually happening i don't want it. To happen to me one more thing i want to mention that magazine here is the. Booklet to come with the press says that. They recommend that you only use Remington or cci number 500 small pistols. Primers i have picked up back when. Primers were hard to get ahold of a box of federal small pistol primers and. Actually picked up four boxes because. There was plenty of them and i have not used them because again I've heard that. People have had issues where they've blown this part up because these are too. Soft and when this little apparatus down. Here where my thumb is pushes the primer. Into the bullet casing it has a tendency. These can bind crush and explode and i. Don't want that happen so i thought i would throw that into my list of peeves that with this press you can only use the recommended ones to be safe i mean. I'm sure you could get away with these but why chance it so i just thought to. Throw that in there so highly recommend that anybody use progressive press. Definitely or any reloading press for that matter use safety glasses for god's. Sake definitely save your eyes and maybe. Your life and yeah he'll be well on your. Was this little powder measure also can. We turned on and off by twisting it. Simply that's off and then this is on i. See mine's a little loose for some reason and it should. I'll probably be cranking out some rounds to take out to the range for one. Of my shooting videos I've got a bullet review to do brass by bill llc donated. 100 rounds of hollow points for me to review and i want to run the review but. They're not little flaky ones at. All they're pretty neat so anyway I'm. Going to review those shoot them see how well they perform and i give my overall opinion of them but i think they're pretty solid so far thanks guys for. Joining me for this review of the lead progressive 1000 press so you can see it. Works pretty effective but there are a few things that you have to get used to. I mean it's not something that you just jump on and think everything's going to go perfect it takes a little bit of fine-tuning some adjustments definitely. Have to pay attention or things could go seriously wrong and like i said i recommend using some safety glasses when you're using this thing because if something blows up in your face those will save your eyes or your face. And yeah i like my eyes I'm sure you do. Two or else you know without eyes you can't watch my videos so think about that anyways you guys like my videos. Please subscribe to my youtube channel leave comments down in the comment section if you have questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer and as always thanks for watching have a. Good day. You.

If you're like me you love to get your hands on new gear and that's exactly what we're gonna do in this video gavin you hear from ultimate freeloader calm i got a couple new products from linemen to show you under their brass smith brand we've got the new lineman powder major this has got some unique features I'm looking forward to trying, and we've got the stands that works really nicely with this measure you can. Mount it on your bench you can mount it to the wall it gives you all sort of flexibility so let's take a look at what we got have not opened this box yet i. Did however see this at the shaw show. Instructions and pretty straightforward. We've got the powder major main body. There we've got a handle this is an ambidextrous design got the holes on both sides so you can either actuate. With your right hand or your left hand, and then we've got some small parts here. Let's see what all is in front okay. Seven eighths by fourteen main body this. Is gonna screw into any press that or. Any stand that has seven eighths by fourteen which is the standard reloading. Die sizing we've got a couple drop. Funnels and then we've got handle. Mounting screws and it even includes the allen key that you need to put it all. Together so i like to drop with my right. Hand I'm just gonna start putting this together okay i like drum-type powder measures because. I've found them to get five really. Consistent results consistent powder. Charges more than the other styles that. I've tried although the lis models that have the. Cavities those have also worked to pretty consistently for me kind of. Depends on the powder sometimes too what's nice about this major is that it has the baffle included. So get the lid off here so that's going. To result in a consistent packing of the. Powder in the drum which means consistent charges if you don't have the baffle there's more packing when you have more powder and less packing in terms of packing pressure in that cavity. When you have less powder so this is going to give us some consistent results which is always good, and then we've got. A larger in a smaller drop funnel to add. This drop me and i body here what's nice. About this with one screw we can quickly. Detach the hopper assembly from the die. Body and that's going to allow us to empty this almost instantaneously which. Is great okay the lock ring so this is. Going to stay in the stand this die body. Here and we can adjust it however we. Want and I'm gonna go ahead and put the. Larger drop funnel in their okay it. Looks like that will go into the base just fine let's take a look at the base now to flip these tabs with a knife. Blade there we go of course this has got. A matching orange finish wow that's. Really nice i like that sweet okay and. So I'm gonna take a look at this. Mounting arrangement and I'll be back in just a second all right. I quickly sorted out the ideal mounting arrangement so I've got the ultimate reloader bench system here which uses t-tracks and it uses 3/8 by 16 bolts the heads of. Which slide in these tracks and then you clamp things down well these slots are optimized for. Quarter-inch bowl it's not a problem i found some large. Headquarter 20 bolts here i shortened. Then and then know all i have to do is. Slip these into the tracks the challenge. Is keeping them from spinning because they have round heads but this is not a. This is not a supercritical application. And if you kind of pull up on it doesn't want to move as bad so there we. Go now that is solid and i needed no. Base no other hardware just a couple. Quarter-twenty bolts and I'm set so I'm. I'm loving that and then we just take. This die out looks like we can leave the. Funnel on that's cool. And I'm gonna kind of crank it down so i. Have a bit protruding here a little bit more clearance, and then we will kind of. Hand tightens the lock ring, and then we just put the powder major on and what. I'm going to do is I'm gonna rotate it so that i get into one of these detents. There's a little detent radially. Arranged around this die body and I'm. Gonna mount it so that it's perfectly. Straight in one of those detents now. When i want to empty the powder i just loosen the screw take off the cap empty. The powder put the body back on wiggle a. Little bit so that screw goes into the detent and there we go. Okay so let's drop some powder so i. Decided to use a powder that I'm familiar with in terms of meeting which is hodgdon bargain use it all the time and then i did decide to use a case. Instead of the pan that would normally. Go with the scale so let's add some. Powder just using a funnel that I've cut. Down for this purpose here i took a. Moment to degrease the internals always. A good idea to wipe the internal parts doom woo almost overfilled there okay so. We've got the reservoir filled with hodgdon and I'm gonna go ahead and zero. Out my case here and when we've. Confirmed our zero on the case now we can charge the case and see exactly what. Our powder charges. Okay so forty point nine and this might. Take a little while to settle in 41.3. 1.3. One point for. 41.6. 41.6. For 21.5. For 21.9 cuts through the sticks pretty. Well they're a little granule got chopped in half they're 41.5 so you can see we're stabilizing here and 41.9 well. 40 yeah 40 1.9 it's settled out at and. Now when we want to empty the major this. Is what i love it should be just this. Quick and with this powder measure it is we'll just dump it, and then we might. Have to rotate it a little bit to get the powder through the holes in the baffle and then what i like to do is. Just give it a few dumps to let all of. The granules fall out and then we could. Just reattach and we're ready to roll. Okay so for a second test let's charge. Some pistol cases to see how it's going to do with a different powder and with. Smaller charge weights okay so before we. Fill the powder measure what I'm going to do is loosen this brass set screw and. Then we're gonna push the rod in all the. Way and because for this we're gonna simulate a 45 acp charge could be down. In the five grain range sixth grade range something like that, so we're gonna set that on the scale we're going to zero that and make sure that we have. Primer in place we don't want the powder to leak out the bottom okay I'm gonna go. With some hod gins cfe pistol again this is a this is a flattened ball powder this is one that i use for pistol quite a bit again and I'm very familiar with how it meters, so we're gonna go ahead. And fill that aways up and then we're. Gonna continue to use this 30 cal drop. Tube okay you can see there's a bit of. Powder there we're gonna fill the case i don't know about close to halfway see what that. Does get kind of good visual and then. We'll throw it on the scale to see where. Our charge weight is at very smooth okay. And okay we're at six and a half that. Sounds about right so I'm going to go ahead and charge kind of bunch of. These just to get the settle in. Established and then we'll take some. Consistency readings. 6.5. Six point four. 6.5 6.5. Six point five six point five well this. Is great I'm super happy with this powder major as you can see once it settles in you're gonna get really consistent charges and i love the. Features i love the baffle i love the ambidextrous handle i love the adjustable meteor insert with coarse level adjustments and fine level adjustments you don't have to take it apart to go from really small charges. Like six grains up to bigger charges and I'll have the full specs in the. Accompanying blog post click on the first link in the video description to find out more about that love the quick detach love how the base works i. Love that you come out to the wall or the bench i love my slick ultimate reload or bench integration with these hold down bolts the quarter-twenty with the large bolt heads this piece of. Equipment is going to get some regular use and in fact i have planned an orange. Showcase I'm going to tie together pretty much all the brass smith equipment I'm getting one of the first case trim express units there's been a lot of interest in that and i can't wait to try it and show it to you also if you. Want to see something specific drop a comment if it's a cartridge if it's a piece of equipment if it's a process drop a comment and make sure you're. Subscribed subscribe with notifications got to get that little bell dinging down there because you don't want to miss anything thank you for watching i appreciate you all if you want to support me you can go to the ultimate reloader store and buy one of my cool t-shirts I'm also on patreon links in the video description yet again until next time. Happy shooting and happy reloading.
Hello this uncle jim I've been doing. Some tres amigos load here so that I'd. Share this with you i was using 1680. Powder and i just switched over to. Little gun and I'm shooting for eight. Point five grains and that's an eight. Point five i got the lighting dim so you. Can see the monitor this is wobbling. Around because it's on a portable stand. Desktop okay eight point five so with. The 1680 it through dead-on didn't have. To trickle i weight each charge but didn't have to trickle didn't even get the trickler out and it looks like. Little gun is throwing eight point five perfectly as well with the 1680 i was. Loading some eight grains and eight. Point five grains and they were dead-on. And the little gun seems to be doing. Well on this powder measure also this is. Kind of wobbling a hair cuz the stand is. Portable eight point five I'm kind of. Talking near it so i gotta be careful and it's on a mc k cigar box which is. Could be a little wobbly but there's eight point five so with the sixteen. Eighty i could trust this thing just thrown it just checking the weight now and then this looks like it's pretty close to so i only got the hopper full. About a couple inches and it still. Doesn't matter i did the same with 1688 didn't bother filling the whole thing. Alright eight point five so i want to. Say congratulations to nathan on the giveaway. He said you're looking at another ar. Project i would suggest a 300 blackout. Pistol but that's up to you. Something shortens handy you carry. Legally 8.5 so it looks like the little. Gun he's doing good. Little gun luskey it's the less key load. That's why i picked up some little gun. Here I've been wanting to try it and black out anyway and little midgets mmm. Blonsky so now i just tap one up one. Firm up and one down because for me. That's the way i like to do with this powder measure 8.5 if you double tap it. Both ways or one way down or whatever. You're gonna get a difference let's do. It here let me throw that one out you're gonna get a different reading but it should stay consistent as long as you're. Doing it the same every time i prefer. One up one down that has been the best for me ce or 8.6 now because we double. Tap that little extra fine granulars and. The measure there let's do it again to. Me it's just a waste of time i get better results one tap 8.6, so we went up. And now we're gonna go back to one. Tapping let me throw one out i didn't. Tap that that hard let me do it again you want a firm rap at the top firm rap. At the bottom give it a little time to fill 8.5 back to normal. So what else west Corina dodge i tried. To text, you i don't know if you got my text it's trying to tell you were looking for a trigger and optics planet was ten. Percent off right now they have a code right at the top of their banner so that. Two-stage trigger is about sixty-five. Sixty-six bucks shipped because the. Shipping is free on that and so i don't. Now if you got my text what else is. Going on i got to get this amigos done. Now this is turned into work because i have to do it's taking some of the. Fun out of it because they've been putting this amigos thing off and my. Phone has no memory so that's going to. Tie up any video so i thought I'd throw a video in here today and then once i do. The amigos I'm screwed until that video. Is uploaded and it's almost like work. It's some i don't know, so we're there we. Are eight point five so it throws a little. Gun really good the only problem with. This one is its metal and it's choppy. With the stick powder and trail boss and. Probably unique you know those i would. Trickle up just stayed you know half. Grain below and you'd be fine. But as far as these go i could just. Trust throwing these every time i like using the shell because i know it's eight six every time i lift off and. It tells me my scales being funky or. Something like that and again using the. Pan with the fine powders if you do it. It can bounce back and get on your table. And throw your charge off so it's always good to have a dedicated chill i got some red marker on there it's kind of. Rubbing off but a really good way to do. It and i enjoy taking my time and. Weighing each charge you know there's no reason to hurry but if i was i could throw a lot of 1680 or little gun in this on the trace and go from. There i wouldn't have it attached to a. Turret press because it'll jiggle around. I don't know how good that would work its kind of better to just go over it. Or just do it separately it's no big. Deal i prefer to come over to the desk. And weigh them anyway i got more room so. I guess that's it and until next time. Thanks for watching.
Hello this is uncle jim and this is part. Two of the lyman brass smith powder. Measure i had to cut out a lot of stuff. In the last video so i want to cover. That and then i had a couple requests. About how about cleaning it out when. You're done and when are you gonna measure unique which is a little. Difficult in a lot of powder measures so. A few things i want to mention that. These adapters were great your small and large if you're you know loading in your. Casings and i wasn't sure about this. Plunger here but i do like it i just. Couldn't figure out where to put the. Stuff do you put it on the side so you can mar up the side and you don't mar up the face i think you know they really. Don't tell you but i think it should be on the flat so you might see some brass. Marks here and then i was talking about. Well they could have had more notches i think they have it calibrated so each notch you can twist up and down until. You need to go to the next notch for. Your reference marks so that's all. Good you know this makes sense instead. Of having to twist it a lot you can just. Pull it up and down let's see if i got this loose here you can pull it down to. The next notch and you're done so it is. Quicker and it's easier the other neat. Think about this is it goes up to a hundred and thirty grains so you don't. Need another drum or an adapter anything. Like that and i can't see myself needing more if i. Did i just do two throws of 1/2 so. That's really neat so it's a little tight because it has an o-ring on the plunger here but this would be for rifle. That's going to throw a lot of right there and then once you tighten this down and. You don't have to do it grill it tight so it hasn't left any marks yet but i. Saw their demo at the shot show and there was a lot of marks here people playing with it i don't know so hopefully we weren't focused here so. I'm going to keep it on the flat this time and then you know once you get that. Tightened down you can you know the whole thing turns and it's smooth so I'm. Kind of liking this now and it really doesn't need extra notches now the. Handle here is kind of nice this is like what you'd see out of bold action it's knurled glued if you have like what i. Call acid sweat some people can rest. Their guns with fingerprints because of. Their sweat you might want a clear. Coat or put a different finish on here it comes off with an allen screw and then you might want to do this because you're touching that and then maybe down here and just stay off everything else so what else. Oh the finishes is nice it's a satin and. It's smooth enough for cleaning so and it was really well done i don't see cast marks you know big leftover and it's. Really nice fit and finished right out. Of the factory which is pretty cool so. On the when it comes to cleaning i can. See this getting scratched up because. It's likes to go in one way and if. You're pushing it out that way you're gonna get scratch marks and you know so. I try and be careful with that you know over time it might not look so great. So we'll take it apart now i poured the. Powder out and you know dump some. Check it around pounded it i was using. Winchester 231 and those little tiny flakes like to stick around so if you. Want to get every bit of your powder out you're gonna be taking it apart especially with fine powders we'll see. After the unique that once bulky so i. Just got this whole thing apart so now. The plunger usually you would screw this. Off and then pull your plunger down and. Then take this off but this works as well. Because i had the plunger down in this cavity so you have a huge cavity for. Doing big rifle cartridges in the pistol. It goes way up here and so that's pretty. Much how it works it just continues on down the line. So for cleaning it's not too bad now it. Now i hit the plunger here I'm kind of. Doing this backwards but this can assist. With the o-ring the o-ring can be a little bit sticky, so they only gave you. The one that came with it but I'm sure their parts are inexpensive if you need another o-ring there's your marks your. Reference lines and i do kind of like that at first i was skeptical about. That but it ends up being pretty cool so. To take this off now i got another. Question will it fit other stands yeah. It should fit your rcbs and other stands. Because this is just like a die it'll fit in your press it'll screw right into your press so this is basically it for. The cleaning now i haven't tried taking the drum out with the handle on but sure. Enough comes out this side so a few seconds taken apart you. Can thoroughly clean this and you know. Most people especially if they have electronic powder measures they're not gonna get every bit of powder out of there unless they're really good with little brushes and getting to things so. It's not as easy to take apart just get. These and a few as a lead perfect powder. Measure that's probably the easiest one because you can shut this off and pull. This off and pour your powder out because it's got an on-off but as far as. The style you know steel measures. They're all gonna be about the same so there's that on the cleaning I'm gonna wipe it down, and we're gonna go to the. Dreaded unique now one of the best. Powder measures I've found for unique. Was the li perfect powder measure it's. Got that little elastomer thing that that cuts off your each charge and that. Was when i was throwing 3.9 grains he. Was throwing four grains 3.9 and then. Every so often you'd get a stinker that was either 3/8 or 4-1 but that did. Pretty good so if this one stays within. That you know I'll be totally happy with. That because that's a powder i can sitter charging a little low and then trickling. Up on the scale or just planking pistol. Stuff if you don't care for your tenth of a grain or two tenths off okay. When i was talking about unique with most powder measures could be two tenths. Of a grain off that is high or low so. You're looking at four tenths to five. Tenths of a grain off with your typical. Powder measure so and the reason is it. Can be its bulky and choppy. And for those that haven't seen uniq I'll show you when i do a drop here now. That i am comfortable with this stem and. Actually like this plunger just pulling it out i'm actually liking that my only. Complaints are still the cap i learned. That you need to hold it and twist it takes two hands its just tight so prying it off you can forget about that but you have to twist it off and then if. You're pouring back into this when you're weighing churches just find a cap. Or something and yeah or leave it off i don't know this is just a random cap. From something so we're gonna put this. Back on again this has no vent hole in it, but we're gonna use it the way it. Came and will pan down okay so we. Already know that these adapters work great for just holding your brass up. There so I'm just gonna use the pan this. Is randomly set after i cleaned it cleaning was actually a breeze you just you know if you don't mind taking it apart it's easy to take apart it doesn't take long at all so i don't even mind. Net all right so this is random 7.3. Grains let me bring the container over. Here i felt a little chop now this is. What I'm talking about with unique it's. A bulky powder and your powder measure. Can chop at it and if you're bringing the handle up and down so for those that. Haven't used it before that's what it looks like okay, so we're at seven point. Three grains again so both of those are. Right on if it's within four tenths of a. Grain that's pretty good for this powder. The is something i would trickle up to and. Start low so that's a seven point one so. That was two-tenths of a green low and. Then i want to show you something i discovered when i was setting up 7.3 so. We got 37.3 and 17.1 well do one more. And then i got to show you something for. You double tap is out there seven point. Two it flickered on three for a minute. Now it's saying seven point three now. Playing with it you're gonna get three. Tenths of a grain off maybe an. Occasional four when i was thrown a. Couple seven three so that's four seven. Point three seven point two and a seven. Point one that's not bad but when you feel trapping bringing the. Handle up you know something's different now watch this is for the guys to. Double tap I'm gonna throw this one out. So we can look at it legit from the. Start one two. Now watch this it's gonna be a heavier. Charge seven point five but it's. Consistent so for you double tap errs. And this is why you always do the same routine always one two three four it's. Gonna be a heavier charge seven point. Six we'll do one more on two so you. Always want the same routine when you're using these types 7.5 okay so whichever. Way you do it now I'm gonna go back to normal I'll throw this one out in case. The drum was. Thinking about okay the old routine no. Double tapping and it goes back down to. Seven point three so it's consistent it. Just depends on how you're gonna throw. So i thought that might be interesting some of you guys and i guess that's. About it I'm gonna run out of time here so until next time i want to do 1680 cuz. That's really gritty powder and it was. Leaking out of like save the lee, and we'll do that one next and I'll do more. Throwing instead of talking about it because we covered this now it's very nice fix the cap thanks for what okay. One more thing i keep failing to mention. Is this it has a small container small. Drums so this is your lee otto drum or. The perfect powder measure size and you. Can see this is even smaller than that so that could be a turn-off i don't know if this is compatible with. Some others out there where you could just change this and get a better cap so. I thought I'd throw that in their i don't mind it i like that how compact it. Is i don't mind pouring some more powder in so it's up to you thanks for watching.
All right today let's take a look at. This new brad smith lyman powder measure. Uncle jim has already done and breakdown. And real good product evaluation on it. Showed you all the parts and pieces and how to clean it so I'd start over there. You can get everything down just right about that today i just want to look at. How well it will perform using a tough. Powder meter something like probably all. Familiar with unique how hard that is to. Meter and well 700 x is one of my. Favorite pistol powders because it's so clean makes a lot of power very useful. Powder and so that i call that kind of. Tough pistol powder the meter and then. We're going to use some thai group which. Is um i guess you could compare it to. Like salt, it meters really well now i do. Want to say a couple things here all. These test numbers that you see have been derived by my own method of tossing. Powder and the way i do that is I'll go. Up rather abruptly you can hear it smack. When it hits it causes vibration it as well. Causes the powder to fill that metering. Hole a little bit better than when i take my powder I'll do a double tap at. The bottom and I'll leave this powder throw. Discharged with the handle down the. Reason for that is if i don't do that. And i leave it like this then any other bench vibration that's going on is constantly packing that hold tighter and. Tighter so I'm gonna get a heavier throw so to avoid that I'll just leave it in. The discharge position the other thing. I'd like to say is that i like this. Metering assembly here it's got big wide. Divisions on it there's plenty of space. In here to meet her in and out before you have to adjust this rod it's just. That this is really heavy and so you'll notice probably see this little silver. Think that's a 405 grain slug i had to. Whittle down and press into this knob otherwise you see how it's just almost. Perfectly balanced I'd rather have this. Knob it's the heavy end otherwise if you. Don't put something in this knob here this thing will pull itself like that automatically just as soon as you turn it looses so that's a drawback other than. That it's a well-made little measure i. Like it i think I'm gonna get along real. Good let's look at the numbers on these things okay before we get to the numbers. I forgot to mention we're going to. Compare this new measure to a hornady. They call it a bench rest model it's. Real nice measure does pretty doggone. Good job on just about everything it's. Got a little micrometer this is an older model but it's the same thing you get today the other one will be this. Standard boy lymon 55 it doesn't have a. Hole in it's got a rectangular slot. That you just we have to learn how to use this measure it's got two different levels of slots that you can adjust one for a rough meter adjustment and the other one for fine-tuning it this is my favorite on. The turret I'm hoping that this new lyman can ride that turret too we'll see. But these are the two we're going to compare all the numbers to alright now. We'll get to the number something else i. Should mention is when i fill the hopper here I'll wipe each one of them down. With a dryer sheet knock off in static for us start filming but when i do fill. It I'll fill it up little more than 2/3. And then i take the plastic jar and i. Tap tap and I'd watch that. Powder settle because it's going underneath the this baffle and it's. Filling the compartment down here and all this powder is settling so it's just getting all those little tater chips on. A tough powder kind of flattened out so. That they'll meter a little bit better so each one of them got look at that. Handle going back up dirty bird. Now I'll settle that powder for i start. Throwing if you don't sell your powder you'll get light throws to start and. Then while you're running your measure. That'll be settling it and progressively. All throughout a hundred throws or however many you're filling into your cases it'll get progressively higher and. Higher and then it will taper off and then the percentages will start running. Correctly like i am gonna show you on. The numbers over there alright there's our two powders we're going to test with. Tight group on the left you can see very. Small little granules they're real good. Powder to work with then the 700x. There's its granules they're pretty. Much larger they look a lot like unique this is a rough ones like trying to meet her tater chips they just don't fall in. That hole real good so there's our two. Test subjects there all right this first set of numbers it's. Going to be for the lyman brass smith. Tight group two-thirds full hopper using. A baffle with my typical throw the next. One is lock and load bench rest measure. Same stats on how full we put that. Hopper same thing with a battle the. Third one is the lyman 55 same things on. The stats on it now. This is the clear winner right here the. Brass smith then it was the number two. Here pinterest and lyman came in number. Three when i go to adjust these things. I'll do ten throws and weigh them right. Here on this bottom line and it gives me an idea of where i need to set this up. Where my point right here this number. Spread to make these recordings and then. As i throw each one and weigh it I'll. Put a dot above whatever particular. Grain it was here you can see we got a 3/10 spread over off top to bottom 5.0. Seems to be the setting for this measure. So what happens after I'm done throwing. Then and hold this camera still this. Little better 24 of them 24 throws came. Out at the five three throws came out at. Four point nine six throws came out no. Ten throws came out at five point. One that's an awesome spread. So that represents throwing a box of. Ammunition so 65 percent of them come. Our right on the money eight percent came out 1/10 of a grain. Low 27 percent came out tenth of a grain. High so what does that mean well it. Means if you load a box of ammo 32 out. Of 50 you're gonna be right on the money and then what if i written hero 1/10. Grain low in that circle there's four so. Four of them are under loaded by a tenth of a grain and 13 of them are overloaded. By a tenth of the grain this is about as outstanding as I've ever seen that's. Just an awesome performance but that's. The easiest powder on the bench to measure all right the bench rest 23 out. Of 50 came out right on the money 10 of. Then or 1/10 of a grain low and 17 of. Then were 2/10 high so statistics wise. Get over here. 46% of them came out right on the money 20% look over the camera yeah 20% of. Then came out low and 34% of them came. Our high so that's you know like looking at a box of bullets that you just loaded. 23 out of 50 are right on the money 10. Are low and 17 are high but that's a. Pretty good spread that's only a 4/10 spread top to bottom there then the old. Lyman 55 it came out 23 out of 50 the. Same as the bench rest measure were. Perfect 10 of them were low and 17 were. High i mean that's identical to the test. On the bench rest except for one thing. There was a 5/10 spread on this one. Whereas the bench rest had a 410 spread so if. I did this test again probably i get the same result maybe i wouldn't maybe be the 55 came in second but you can see in. Practical terms how many of that box of. Bullets are coming out exactly the way you want them all right so let's look at. The numbers on the hard powder so here's the powder that was tough the lyman 55. Came out the winter it's number one. Number two was lyman brass smith the. Third measure was the bench rest by hornady all right now you can see by all. These little dots here how the throws pileups kind of like watching a skyscraper get built the dots will go. All back and forth, but they keep filling as the more you throw in both of these. I threw 50 rounds 50 throws and then. Because this bench rest measure had such. A spread on it i wanted to make sure that the trend was still going the same. So i threw 68 throws on it but i based. All the numbers on a 50 count the. Percentages let you do that because you figured your percentage of what's over and under put this lime in 55 we ended. Up having a 7/10 spread from high to low. Let me get where i can read i can't read. In this camera 36% were right on the. Money 30% were low by 3/10 34% were high by. 3/10 pretty even on both sides of it so. That means 18 out of 50 pink teen out of. The box we're right on the money and 15. Were 3/10 low 18 of them were 3/10 hi. So that's the practical way looking at. That and then same thing here all these. Plots that i did come out pretty close. First and second but then hey you guys. Slow down a little bit this one over. Here we had quite a spread i was surprised at that where was i think i. Was looking at the brass smith 16 out of. 50 came home right on the money six of them were low by as much as three tenths. Of a green twenty-nine were overloaded. By as much as five tenths and that like. I said had a 8/10 spread from high to low but still not bad for handling that. Kind of powder you got to really work with your scales whenever you've got powder acting like this you got to keep. Track of it toss out them real high ones or real low ones with the lock and load. We had an 11 10 spread that was just. Amazed at that 25 of them 25% of them. Came out right on the money 59% were low by as much as one two three. Four five six seven tenths and 16% came. Our high as much as three tenths that's. That's tell you right there you don't. Use this measure here with 700x. So out of a box of fifty twelve and a. Half of them would be right on the money twenty-nine and a half would be as much. As seven tenths low an eighth of them. Would be high by as much as three tens. So that's the numbers boys that's how i. Did it nothing is a practical way of looking at. It and interpreting the numbers so there. You go easy powder on the left tough. Powder on the right how does a brass. Mint do well it came in number one on. The easy powder and number two on the tough prouder thanks for watching fellas. You.

The hornady lock and load auto progressive press or ap for short it's a. Fully functional five station progressive press that gives you one loaded round with each pull of the handle today we're going to go through step by step how to set it up so stay. Tuned let's get started when you get your horn. Indy lock and load comes in this nice big box fully packed from the factory impervious to shippers abuse and what. You want to do is slide off the cover get it right and start taking out the. Goodies there's a lot of packing in here. Take your time try not to lose anything. Here's the actual press and it's a. Beauty along with that you have some. Other goodies in here there's our powder. Measure and priming tools here's some. Powder measure dye our lock and load. Bushings there and a bracket for our bin. There's our ammo bin and it has a drum. For our powder measure inside yes when I'm setting one of these up i do read the manual it's essential so. Now that we got everything out we can get started the first thing we have to do is bolt the press to the bench and to. Do that I'm gonna have to drill some new holes in this bench. Okay now that we got the holes drilled we can go ahead and mount dress up and. For this hornady recommends five. Sixteenth inch bolts with a washer on. Then like I've got here the length will vary depending on how thick your bench top is I'm using four inch bolts here. They seem to do the trick for me and get. A bolt in there tighten them up as you. Normally would like any other tool of ice or something you tighten down doesn't have to be super tight you just don't want this thing moving around and there we go that's plenty tight this thing is solid as a rock you can pick the bench up with it if i could pick the bench up alright. Now we've got to install our handles get that on there so now we want to secure. The handle by tightening a slop net with a crescent wrench hand the basic press. Is mounted and ready to go so let's move on to the next step which is mounting the shell plate and before. We do that heatedly wants a little bit. Of grease on the base of the press here there're little indentations here for the. Ball detent, so we're going to put a little grease in those and that'll make. The thing ride a lot smoother you want to take this keyed area right here and. Make sure it fits the corresponding stud. On the press nice and easy. At that point it's just a matter of. Putting the screw in place it doesn't. Have to be super snug and i lift up on. The handle creates a little friction on it lift it up. Look there we've got a ratcheting press it is working hornady sets these up at. The factory to ratchet properly if you. Find that it is not coming all the way around to each station you need to. Consult your manual to find out how to retirement or call it one of the tech they can walk you through it if they have to so the next thing we want to do. Is to put the shell retainer spring and. This is a spring right here it's a nice coil loop around the shell plate. And it goes in place pretty easily but. You have to cycle the press a couple times to get it to drop in and there it. Goes now it's running in its groove here and it'll hold the shells in there. Stations all the way around at each station check and make sure everything's. Advancing properly each time you raise. The ram it should be coming up on each. Station on each die station here there should be a shell holder opposite it this one is working properly horn d sets these up at the factory and. If it's not indexing properly there are. Instructions in your manual on how to fix that or you can call workaday's tech support they can walk you through it also next we want to install the priming mechanism now this came equipped ready to go for large primers, and we're loading 45 acp, but we've decided to take. It apart so you could watch how it's put together first thing to do is take the. Priming ram here and hook it up to this. Little spring right here which is hard to reach their district up this puts the. Tension on your priming. And then we place the cover on top that. Retains it. Now before you install yours be sure those parts are clean and oil-free no. Debris no rough edges just double-check. It makes sure the primers have a nice easy path to follow. Because progressive one of the most. Important things you can do is make sure that your primers flow properly okay as. You see it moves back and forth there it gets cam to back and it goes forward. Lines up here and you've got a primer in place once there's one to feed so now. That we have that in place we can screw the primer shield in place and that's. Very easy that just screws on those outer threads down there next we want to. Put the inner tube in and there are two. Of these so make sure the one you get. Corresponds to the primers you want to use to see one's got a large hole one's got a small hole we're going to use large primers, so we'll go with this one. There's a slight rebate here and you. Want to put that down so it'll go into. Its recess inside there and nest properly don't go once you have that in. Place this little guide goes on top that. Centers everything up so now when you go. To feed primers from one of these. Centers it up for you pull the pin primers fall down you're fully charged so that's the priming. Setup everything's running smoothly so. Far so good next we take our lock and. Load powder measure and being careful. Not to lose any of these levers or anything on the way we're going to put it into the die, and we're going to take. The activation arm slip it over its locking not here tighten that in place. Make sure it's moving freely now this. Device is called the powder stop or a powder measure stop excuse me and what. This does is limits the travel this powder measure so when your case hits the top of the die and hits that expansion point all the pressure is going to be borne by this rather than your mechanism and your powder measure pretty good idea it's all taken up here. All the stress so you don't have to worry, so we'll put this in place over. The two spring points, and we'll put our spring first on the top then on the. Bottom make sure we have good positive. Return pressure that way when the case backs out this comes down gets another. Load of powder you don't want your powder measure to jam up now we get to. Test it takes a case loading station one. Index it over station — there goes out. Powder measure now we're not feeling a. Lot of resistance at the end and this isn't bottoming out, so we're going to need a little more adjustment here I'm going to tweak that up. There's a little bit let's try a bullet in there just a little more just need a. Little more there. Let's see what it looks like. They're bullet stays in the case it's. Gonna stay oriented for the next seating step, so we'll call that good pablor. Measures ready to go we can lock down our adjustments and proceed now that. We've got the powder measure installed we can install the hornady powder cop and what this does is gives you a visual verification of the powder level in the. Case it'll show you if the case is properly charged it will also show you if there's a double charge in there which can be disastrous so this is a great idea when you're loading on a progressive now to install it again we. Want to put our lock and load bushing on their put it into the press it'll be on. Station three right next to your powder. Measure takes a prime case run it through. One. Charge it with powder comes over now the. Powder calm and you can see the white. O-ring just shows above here we can. Adjust this up just slightly so it with a proper powder charge and I've weighed this already so i know I'm throwing the proper charge it comes up about flush that way every time you put the handle. Down your eyeball will fall on this. While ring and see that it's at the right level so let's take the same case. Leave the powder in it and run it through and give it a double charge and see what it looks like there's the. Second charge and there the o ring comes. Up twice as far now it's not a huge difference but now there's a gap between the die and the o ring so your eye should pick that up instantly it's right under your nose it's out their right in front of you on purpose so when you see that you know you've got a double charge case next. We're going to install the bullets eating die went ahead and installed the. Sizer die in station one that's pretty easy nothing to figure out there the. Cedar die takes a little bit of finagling depending on what unit you. Have now we're using the horn of the die here which crimps and seats the bullet. To proper depth in one motion it's got two adjustment rings for the bullet depth and for the crimp I've got a bushing on it, so we're going to lock and load that in place and what we'll do is. Take an empty case, and we'll just run it through without powder or without primer. We're just making a dummy test case I've. Looked in the horn of the manual here our overall length is one point two. Thirty one inch two hundred thirty thousand for the 230 grain xtp bullet. We're going to load, so we'll go up the. Station one size it normally we would. Prime right here charge with powder. Next station is the powder cop nothing. Happening because we have no powder station for take an x t p bullet. Goes up seats the bullet crimps there it. Is next station if you wanted to crimp. Separately there's still one open station so if you want to add a taper crimp die to that you could and just sat with this one some people like to do that especially with cast bullets where you might shave a little red off them but this particular unit works fine just as is so you'd go up to the next. Station and then it would eject the. Shell and you're done and from then on. Each pull the handle will give you one. Loaded round that's what the aap is all about okay with the press all set up and. Our test rounds looking good we're ready to start loading ammo you have any questions on how to use this or set it up give us call in the tech line we'll be glad to help you out thanks for watching see you next time. You.
The hornady lock and load auto progressive press or ap for short is a. Five station reloading press that gives you one loaded round with each pull of the handle today we're going to show you step-by-step how that procedure goes so. Stay tuned, and we'll start loading some ammo loading ammunition on the order of the lock and load auto progressive is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it let's take a look at what it takes with ammunition together on this press first thing you want to do is get. Your primer tube and charge it so you can charge your primer system up here and to do that you take your tube put. The primers down face up and collect. Then in the tube very fast and easy once. You have your tube filled with up to 100 primers you take your gravity rod out. Here put it over the primer shoot. Release the primer and make sure they. All go in once you've done that replace. This little plastic rod that helps the primers feed properly we've got the. Powder in there we've calibrated our charge, so we're ready to go let's take. One case run it through the whole cycle and see what's actually involved here today we're loading 45 acp, so we take a. Case put it in station one that resizes. It and it also rejects the spent primer. If you have one in there they were using new brass so no primer to check out as it comes down it comes to the priming. Station and you have to push forward on. Handle to seat that primer after the primer seated pull back on the handle. Again it goes to the powder station case. Activated powder charge comes through. Will only happen if there's a case there's no case nothing. At this point since we're just beginning. I'll take the case out and you can remove the case just about anywhere on this press between stations and I'll check it on my own ad scale if the. Charge checks out I'll replace the. Powder put it back in the station this. One's the powder cop we see that we have a full charge here the little o-ring has come up flush next up we have to grab a. Bullet because we're going to seat in. The last station. And that seats and crimps the bullet. Coming down we have an extra station that does nothing although you can crimp separately if you want to and the. Easter system kicks the case right out and into this andy little hopper that clips on to the side of the press here so it's that easy now once you get going. Here's how it works see if the primer. Put in another case first case is. Charged put in another case the second. Case is charged so from this point on we. Need to grab a case and a bullet with. Each cycle of the handle to keep the chain of events flowing so case is in place as the charged case comes up out a. Bullet in it seed it another case. Another bullet. repeat is needed you can load as many or. As few rounds as you like this way now. Once you've run out the cases you just keep cycling and adding bullets as needed until you've run through all the. Cases when you're working up a load if. You have questions about how much powder or which powder to use go to the good. Book like i always do it's all in here. Just about every caliber you're apt to load it's gonna be covered in your hornby manuel can't recommend it too hard pilot it also lists your overall. Length of the cartridge so once you load. A cartridge get your calipers out. Measure it makes sure you're where you. Need to be overall length is important it affects pressure and it affects feeding especially in automatic pistols and semi-automatic rifles so go to the. Book when you have a question I've been using the horny lock and load progressive for years i have two of them set up at home one loads exclusively 9-millimeter with a case feeder and a bullet feeder the other set up primarily for 45 like this one although i use it. For 38 357 40 caliber 10 millimeter 44. Magnum and a few others i just can't. Remember right now including 223 of course i found it to be a very reliable machine i like the priming system in it's. Much more reliable than others I've tried i use it not only to load animal. But i use it a lot for progressively. Resizing cases kicking out primers so i. Can throw them in my vibratory tumbler makes it go much faster all you have to. Do is put cases in you don't have to put take them out like you would on a single-stage press now the horny lock and load progressive is a great progressive press but it also works fantastic for single stage operations for example if you want a deep prime and. Size all your brass and then throw it into your tumbler use your ap it's much easier just take out the dies you don't need the lock and load system makes that super easy gently take out your powder. Measure so it doesn't spill set it aside. Now you're ready to size and deep prime. As fast as you can go so let's grab. Cases. And it'll automatically eject them you. Don't have to grab many cases it's the. The Easiest way to go much faster than. Having to take the case back out again of your shell holder on your single-stage crust another great thing. About this press is you can use it to swage primer pockets with the hornady primer pockets wager now this is pretty. Slick it's only available for two to three and 3:08 and what it does it let. You put a case on the post run it through the three dies the last die automatically ejects the case so you don't have to grab that case either just. As fast as you can put them in you can swage pockets I've I've done primary. Pockets a lot of different ways over the years and this is by far the easiest I've ever seen now remember when you're using this press you've got five stations to work with but you can use anywhere from one to five so if you want a size like i did earlier and just do nothing else you can. Do that if you want a size and flair the neck you can do that if you've got all your brass processed and just want to charge it with powder seep the bullet and crimp it you can do that if i have. One or two operations to do say I'm forming the case to another caliber or. Something it doesn't get any handier. Then this you get a finished case with each pull the handle whether you're loading ammo resizing ammo it's really a. Slick machine it's sturdy I'll never be able to wear one of these out as long as you follow. The instructions and do what quantity tells you because believe it or not they understand how this thing works you won't have any problems i do have to. Look at the manual when i adjust this machine i really have to look at it when i set one up the one we set up for this shoot even though I've got two at home that I've set up i got the instructions out and looked over them very carefully a lot of going on here and when it's going. Right it's very simple that's why I've had great success with. This brush and I'm gonna be using it for. Years to come now the horny progressive works great for pistol but it's also size to do full-length rifle cartridges so if you want to load 308 30 odd six you name it on here it's more than up to the task the only. Difference is the process is lubing the brass now the old-fashioned loops that used to come in a tube like toothpaste that would be a messy go around. But hornady has the one-shot taste loop. Where you just lay the cases out on newspaper or on cardboard spray them down according to directions let them. Dry for a little bit then put them into your bin and load as normal no different. Then pistol from that point the dyes will be a little different but the process is the same every pull the handle will give you one completed rifle. Round now in addition to the press and the dice quantity makes a lot of accessories for this we're using a hornady scale today or if he makes these bins and two sizes large and small to. Hold your shelves to hold your bullets in your cases they make different. Attachments different guys there's a ton. Of stuff, you can add to this press including a bullet feeder and a case feeder if you want to get really automated but for me this way this is. Set up I've got one of these at home for 45 just like this i put them in manually. Works great for me if you have any questions about the hornady lock and load auto progressive press or on reloading in general give us a call the tech line we'll be glad to help you out thanks for watching. You.

You. If folks just here with a quick tip for. The for those of you with the workaday lock and load and the case feeder if. You're like me you love the case feeder but can occasionally be frustrating with. Having various issues you know feeding. The cases either when the plate comes up. And the shell drops onto the shell plate. You know if you don't have this push rod. And the feed tube and just adjust. Perfectly you sometimes know the case drops a little too early or a little too late and the result of that is that it. Will land on bounce off and you know. Kind of slow you down so I've seen a couple different people, and they will. Attach a small piece of tape cardboard. Or something right here to help kind of. Catch the case as it comes down out of. The drop tube i didn't really like that. Because as the next case came down if. For instance, it was upside down or whatever instead of tape would get. Start getting bent just kind of got in the way so what i found to be the. The Easiest solution is simply taken a piece of index card this is a actually a piece. Of business card that you would print at. Home roll it up in a tube the exact. Diameter of this piece of tape and a. Piece of cardboard here put it over this over the drop tube you can see i put a. Little notch in here to cut it out for where the vblock feeds up and it feeds. Up just in there and you just slide it. Up i don't have it attached nothing's holding that on other than friction and it will stay there had it on for thousands of rounds and when the cases come down, and they. Drop down into the tube you can see that it is now entirely captured by this. Magus extended tube and pretty much salt. Any of the issues that i had with the. Cases dropping off of the shell plate so. That was very convenient the other mice. Think about this solution is that one of. The things that really bothered me with this whole feed mechanism is the time. That it takes to switch this drop tube out when changing from a smaller case. Like a nine millimeter to a larger case like 45 or maybe a rimmed case like. These 357 that won't fit into the three. Four seven so you fit in there but a forty-five case you know won't fit into. This to the smaller drop tube so you get. To work really reliably you know you have to keep swapping that out but with this i never have to change this too bad i just leave a large tube in all the time which means that i don't have to take this pivot body out which as you. Now you know in order to get this dropped tooth out you know you have to. Take this pivot body out which means. Undoing this screw at the top here which is kind of pain you have to pull this whole thing out put it back on but with this a simple little piece of rolled-up. Index card sit right on their like that. Just we've large tube on all the time and it solves any bouncing case issues. That I've had so now the only thing that i have to swap out is the inside little. Sizing piece which you don't need to. Remove this for you don't even need to take that tube out you know just drop that in when you're using a small case take it out when you're using a large case and you're off to the races so i. Hope that helps it's all the 15 seconds and it works. Great.
The key is right here this little guy. Right here needs to just barely be. Finger tight and that allows the beat block can actually move on the slider. And a little bit of slop greatly. Eliminates about a hundred percent. Eliminates but you know huge improvement. Over a problem before of keys tipping thanks for watching.
I just wanted to share a quick. Modification that i made you might want a lock and load as you can see it has the case feeder which has. Been fantastic once i got it adjusted properly and figured out exactly when to adjust all. Various settings depending on what caliber i was loading but the very first. Time that i used the case feeder i managed to break this little fiberglass. Rod that follows the primer stone and. The way that it happened was when the. Press is at the top of its stroke and if you were full of your primers you can. See that the rod would come up without there and what happened was it didn't go. Straight up but it was leaning a little bit to the side and it got caught. Underneath this lip of the case here. Right there now the result of that was a. Broken tube which you can see here i. Taped while i was waiting for a replacement just to have something following it but essentially it got stuck right under their flexed like that. And snapped because i was looking. Obviously at the cases and i was loading. Then i didn't notice that and the resistance was so slight that i didn't. Even feel that the rod was bending until. I heard it just go crunch so all i did was i took a piece of plastic i think. This might have been from an old cd case or something like that cut it out and made it so that it extends just past. That lip so now if the rod should be leaning off to that side it hits that and just rides up to the side and avoids. Getting stuck under there originally i. Had tried to construct something I'm a big piece of cardboard or something that. Can't kind of came down like this but it was ugly and just terribly realized it. Obviously much simpler solution was to do this just making sure that the bottom of it was far enough down that the rod. Didn't get stuck on me bottom side of that problem solved and. It doesn't look atrocious. In fact, you hardly even notice that it's there so that was my one quick modification to my la commode everything. Else to equal this has been a fantastic press for me I've loaded tens of. Thousands of rounds with it and if. That's the biggest problem i have well i consider myself lucky.
Gentlemen for those of you that have been experiencing case tipping problems with the hornady lock and load. Particularly with nine-millimeter luger. Z-- which is what these three shall. Plates fit i understand there may be a. Problem also with 223 s. Think it's a different plate but the result may be the same here's what I've. Discovered after working with hornady for the last couple of weeks this is the. Original plate that i received and each. Almost each and every shell that was fed. From the case feeder in tipped we i. Believe that the reason is if you notice. Right on this edge there's about a 45 degree bevel and this flat surface on. The top is quite narrow they sent me a new plate which is this. Plate and as you can see the this flat. Boss area is much wider there is still a. Slight bevel on the outside edge if you. Look at it from the end it's visible and. I put this case excuse me this plate on and had no longer had tipping problems. But two other problems cropped up it. Would not eject nearly in fact every. Single bullet loaded bullet jammed on. The ez jecht boss also i was having. Troubles with it lining up with my. Number one sizing station without. Changing anything if i swapped plates out those two problems went away when i. Put this one back on but the tipping returned so in a long. Discussion with them the other day they. Decided to send me a third plate which. Is this plate i have put a micrometer on. All the various surfaces between these. Two because they vary they look virtually identical the only differences. I found is this channel is slightly shallower in the. Third plate than it is in the second plate here and the width from. Here to here and here to here is slightly different we're only talking a couple of thousands i don't know if that's what was the. Issue or not but in any case this third. Plate definitely did the trick yeah the cases are all feeding great, and they are all ejecting great they're all. Lining up with the primer station they're all lining up with the number one sizing station so I'm not sure. Visually i can't find any differences between these and as i said i ran the micrometer across both of them and could. Not find any major differences i don't. No but the long and short of it is this one works these two don't they did. Send them to me under their warranty program I'm assuming if you have. Problems and call them and discuss it with them that you may end up with the. Same result as idea but now with this. Plate I'm happy things are working well. 44 magnum 700 grain 500 smith & wesson. In case you're wondering.

Hey guys donald bullet for freedom here because i share my hip trained kathy who hangs out on my wall from Dylan precision anyways a lot of you guys that. Have before today ep whether it's the full ammo plant set up don't forget your info wars.com now. We're in the reloading room again i wanted to share with you guys I've got the second set the second press said excuse me because I've got a whole kind. Of breath that I've got to go through and one thing that i was struggling with. Was the primer pockets and so i ended up. Going and getting the lock and load ap. Primer because i figured the rotary. Press and the kind of obvious auto. Indexing we all know at the hornet aap is but i thought about the villain the. One at a time one at a time and i ended. Up going with this simply because i go. Through a lot of 223 brass a lana brown. So what i figured out is if you went. Down to your hardware store to move up here with my osmo you can see that i. Took my exit die attach the hose goes. All the way down. To the bucket so I've done about 800. Rounds maybe an omen rattle over a thousand rounds in the last half hour or 45 minutes but i just wanted to get show you this is where you drop your prime. Your your brass in so that you can. Swage it as it's coming up it's going to. Sit on here you and you move it forward. So you can see as it rotates and does. Its thing normally you drop the dye in here the. Brats in here goes this way and it's wages and then the next one has little rubber fingers that push everything back. Up so instead of dropping one in. Reaching and putting it somewhere else i just attach the hose and it goes down. Right into my bucket and there you have. It so nice clean deep rhymes now I'm. Going to swage it and then get it set up on the ammo plant with the bullock. Beater and get this 223 loaded so thanks. For watching and if you like click subscribe till your family friends remember that lid causes cancer in the state of california so be careful out there guys appreciate your watching.

Hornady lock and load ap5 station progressive reloading press so let's. Talk about the basic features of the case feed system on the horn if you lock and load ap press starting up at the top. We have the case feed bowl the case feed. Bowl collates brass and drops it down. This funnel. When the case feed plate is turning have. An example to show you here this is a rifle case feed plate in here we've got. A pistol case feed plate these plates. Turn and when they're turning their. Collating broths and dropping it down this funnel here so that the case speed. Drop tube can be filled up now when. We're loading this tube is filled up on. Demand because we've got a micro switch here that automatically turns off the. Case feed bowl system, so we've got the case feed bowl we've got the drop tube, and then we have a series of linkages here that will insert the case into the. Shell plate each time we're at the. Hi! Welcome to my review project dedicated to outdoor activity. I have great experience in hiking, camping, and fishing. I'm ready to share it with you. Hope it will be useful for you.
