Hikers and backpackers, the darn, tough hike, Trek micro, Cru cushion, is a great piece of gear to add to your backpacking or hiking kit. These socks are super durable, made in Vermont and backed by darn toughs. Unconditional lifetime guaranteed, so you’ve got socks for as long as you are on the trail, the design of them is really smart. You’ve got that cushion. So what that means is. There is no real cushion on the top of the foot where you don’t need it, but at the base there is a lot of strategically placed cushion to keep you comfortable, while you’re, hiking or backpacking the heels and toes are reinforced.
So you get some extra durability and you have a seamless design right in the toes of the sock, so it fits super well every time it is a merino wool and nylon blend. So it is super. Durable, quick drying. Breathable keeps your foot cool in all conditions, so it is a all season, sock, obviously, for those super cold conditions, you may want something with a little more cushion, but these ones do have a light bit just for those summer and fall hikes to improve the fit of these socks.
We’ve got elastic bands around the arches of each sock, so that’s gonna help keep it in place and there is some more elastic up in the opening portion of the sock so again helps that stock sock stay in place, while you’re hiking or backpacking it’s a great hiking sock. It’s super durable, really breathable. It can even be used as an everyday sock if you’d like they are the darn, tough hike, trek, merino wool micro Cru cushion socks thanks for watching.

Heady Stripe Micro, Crew, Light, Cushioned Sock has a three quarter length and seamless construction that makes it ideal for hikers or backpackers Let’s. Take a closer look at its unique construction. The socks are a unique blend of materials. You have got 48 percent Merino wool, 45 per-cent nylon and seven percent. Lycra That combination gives you nice durability, nice stretch and basically just enough cushioning for hiking or backpacking So.
It is more breathable and less cushioned than some heavier socks which gives this some real year round or all season versatility. Darn Tough has incorporated seamless construction down low on the sock places where you would be vulnerable otherwise to the build up of hot spots and blisters. So really nice feature set there As far as the leg is concerned, you can see the ribbing here so a little bit more supportiveness on the leg also helps to keep that sock in place.
The socks are constructed by Darn Tough based in Vermont, and they are backed by Darn Tough’s. Almost unbelievable lifetime guarantee If. You are not happy with the socks. If the socks break down on you, Darn Tough will take them back and replace them. So, pretty unbelievable claim there on Darn Tough, but we have seen them stand behind it. In addition to all that functionality, the Darn Tough Men’s, Heady, Stripe, Micro, Crew, Light Cushion Sock also just looks great So.
You have got a bit of style going on here, got all that functionality. That certainly makes it work in the back country and then the backing of that lifetime guarantee.
The darn, tough hike, Trek merino wool for those warmer weather, backpacking adventures made in Vermont by darn tough sporting, darn toughs, unconditional lifetime guarantee. These socks are super, durable and very soft. They wick moisture. Well, they dry quickly and they provide a nice cooling feel on those warm summer hikes with that light, cushion it’s a really strategically designed sock, so at the top you’ve actually got no cushion.
You don’t have any cushion where you don’t need it so really enhance breathability there on the bottom. There is strategically placed light bits of cushion in the heel and in the toe and those pieces are reinforced. So you get some extra durability there as well. There’s also a little bit of cushion right in the arch of the sock. The toes are an invisible seam toe, so they fit really well.
It doesn’t feel like there’s any types of bunching or anything like that up in the toes so again, really nice fit throughout a long hike. There is elastic right in the arch around the ankle and up at the top of the sock, so you’ve got a really secure fit and it won’t shift or move around again minimizing that chance of blisters overall they’re really simple, that micro Cru refers to the height they come up to about just under the cap.
So a nice high cut for most boots and that light cushion refers to the cushion underfoot simple, durable, very breathable and backed by that unconditional lifetime guarantee. It is the darn, tough hike, Trek merino wool micro, Cru Lite cushion thanks for watching. Woman’s hike, Trek, marina wool, boot cushion socks, as the name suggests. These are the hike Trek variety, so these are perfect for backpacking and hiking when you’re going to be wearing boots. That are a little bit taller and you need these to come up above the top of the boot. Now you’ve got plenty of cushioning underneath your foot and cushioning here in the top of the sock, but because these are meant for hiking and trekking and maybe you’re, covering lots of miles they’re very ventilated right on top of your foot, so they’re going to wick away sweat as opposed to the full cushion socks.
These are just the regular cushion. So again you have that cushioning underneath your foot, but you don’t have it on top of your foot, because it gives you a little bit more breathability. Darn tough, takes knitting very seriously. They are manufactured in Vermont and they’re, using really technical and high-end knitting machines to deliver the most durable sock out there, they’re incredibly comfortable.
So, just looking at the toe of the sock here, you can see that you almost have a seamless design, so that is really going to cut down on blisters. You have that same design around the heel, so in the areas where you’ll have, where points wearing them inside your boots, those are extra cushioned, but also there’s no seams that are going to rub against the inside of your foot so incredibly comfortable.
There now they’re made mostly out of merino wool about seventy percent. Merino wool: they’re, not itchy at all. They’re. Very soft and wool has natural antimicrobial properties, so these are naturally anti-odor if you’re on a long trek. You can wear these multiple times and you don’t have the odor of some other synthetic materials. Now you also do have a little bit of nylon and spandex in there to give them shape and to give them stretch.
But again you have mostly that very high quality wool in the arch of the foot you’ve got a lot of stretch and that’s where comfortable it keeps the sock exactly where it needs to be. You won’t feel the sock riding down as you’re hiking, so overall, these are incredibly durable, incredibly comfortable socks, you’re backed by darn tough for the lifetime of the sock.
So if you’re not happy with them or if they wear out, you can send them back and get a replacement they’re. The darn, tough women’s hike, Trek merino wool boot cushion socks thanks for watching. If you have additional questions about the gear you just saw, please feel free to visit, backcountry edge, calm and get in touch with me or one of our other gear specialists.
We also have technical specs about that gear. On the product pages of our website and often times, we have bonus videos, if you like our channel, please subscribe.
Mountaineering extra cushion socks are a super, durable, reinforced heavy-duty sock for those extreme cold weather conditions. It is a heavily reinforced merino wool sock. It is built with darn Tufts, known durability in their Vermont factories, and it is backed with darned Tufts unconditional, a lifetime guarantee. So you get all of those features and benefits with these darn tough socks, as you do with all the others.
The sock construction is very simple. You’ve got reinforced, cushioning all the way throughout from the top to the very bottom. The toes and the heel are reinforced to get extra durability there and it is an invisible seam toe. So in the toes you don’t have any bunching, so it’s not going to chafe not going to create blisters or any abrasion like that. The durability is great. The construction is very simple: there are some elastic reinforcements in the arch in the ankle and at the very top, so it stays in place.
It doesn’t shift or move, but these are very heavily reinforced socks again for those super cold weather conditions, it is the darn, tough hike, Trek merino wool, mountaineering extra cushion thanks for watching. Kandice Maxis here figured it’s wintertime. I’ll do review some Carhartt socks, I do like Carhartt socks for the wintertime good boot socks, especially when you can find them on sale, I think they’re a bit pricey when they’re, just on, like some brick-and-mortar retail shelf, I’ve, seen prices as high like $15 plus or some of the their wool ones, or even these thicker ones, but not many people are obviously doing reviews on socks, not the most popular item, but the Carhartt ones are pretty expensive and a lot of people are buying these things.
Just because you want a nice warm heavy-duty boot sock. One thing I would really recommend it. The easiest way to say it is stretch versus non stretch, socks. What I mean by that is there’s like these heavy-duty wool socks. These are really they’re cold weather once these aren’t like I would say: hunting grade socks or extreme weather. There’s certainly some really high-end socks out there, but I think for on sale, five to ten dollar range, and you can often find because it’s a textile item, there’s often big-time sales I think these are pretty worth it they’re at least pretty reliable for socks.
What I mean by nut once again, non-stretch as these go on and they’ll go about half you know a third of the way up your leg or something more like just any kind of normal stretchy sock, but when they do have stretch versions. One thing to make note is: it may seem like a pretty heavy sock and it is, but when it’s a stretch sock it thins out just a little bit more, it does give you a really nice cuff.
We can see that this one just stretches out a huge amount. This goes about halfway up your leg. These would work if you had 20 I Doc Martens, where these are more of a 12 I sock, and we can just see the difference here. We can get the upper part of this to stretch out almost as long as this sock is normally and that’s the best piece of advice I could give. You is because you may want to thick heavy sock, but you end up with a stretch version and it’s not bad, but it’s designed more.
The help, maybe reduce chafing issues. If you have chafing issues as far as stock durability and the boots actually chafing on them, they’ve been okay, I found that with boots and socks. Thicker socks fare better. If you have boots that particularly around the heel area, where they may really want to wear holes in them. This is a much factor as a boot as it is I’ve had a lot of socks have worn out and it’s you know it turns out to be the boots, and sometimes it really is cheap socks, but overall I think the car hearts aren’t bad, and although it’s arguable about the variety I have, though five different styles of car, it’s here what I do like about them? Is they both synthetic as well as natural wool? So if you don’t like, maybe natural wools, a little bit more Scratchy, you can go with the synthetic sock.
The wool ones do seem to be a little bit heavier and therefore a bit cooler weather. So I do like the fact that you can get varying socks. You can just get regular old, white socks or cotton socks just for regular socks, but far as boot socks, it’s kind of nice to have ones that maybe you’re working on 40 degree, weather or something like that, and then you have ones where you’re working with under sub 0 or sub-freezing temperatures.
So it comes to something like this. It’s a lot of people have personal preference. If ik preferences and what I have found with a lot of socks, is, you know yeah. You can go to our places like REI and they’re hugely expensive for socks. That are, you know like this I’d say boot, socks or most other places. You know, department stores they just have a few different varieties and the half the department stores all seem to sell the same brand.
It’s a little bit weird, so I kind of like that. Carhartt is at least setting themselves apart, and it’s compared to some of the value of their other clothes. I, don’t own a lot on Carhartt stuff, but I think their socks are ok anyway. All cut off the review there. It’s definitely getting a little long in the tooth, but just want to put in my two cents about these Carhartt socks.
That are, you know, ten into at least department stores that do have them tend to be a little bit more pricey, but you can always find a good deal when you do they’re, definitely worthy in the five to ten dollar repair range, 15 and 20. You know if you really like their products, I think they’re, okay, but that’s about the maximum anyway. I really appreciate everybody watching and subscribing, and if you haven’t subscribed, please do until next time, catice max out.
