You a lot of ventilation with this. Tension back panel you can see all of that mesh there and i can put my hand. Behind it so you know that you've got all the ventilation that you need behind the scenes there you can see a cross pattern for the frame that is a. Lightweight spring frame and what i like. About that is it gives the rigidity that you need in the pack to give stability and to transfer the weight of the load to your hips but it will move with you. Because it's the cross pattern it will flex a little bit as you move so this pack doesn't feel boxy it feels like as you move going up and down hill it's. Going to move with you and then you as well. Can use the those load lifters to dial in the fit and just choose the. Particular size that's right for your. Torso in addition to the adjust ability. There you do have an adjustable sternum straps you can move that up and down. While I'm on the back of the pack you do have a hydration sleeve inside the pack. You can route the hydration hose out through the middle here and you even. Have a little catch here for the hose on. This side now the hydration system itself isn't included, but they do give. You this smaller pack this can be hung. Inside of the backpack as the sleeve for. Your hydration system but you can as well. Take it out and use it as a summit pack you've got really lightweight and stretchy straps here so those are comfortable the material here is nice. And simple but it gives you all the. Organization you need on the front of the hip belt you have nice big pockets i. Can see these accommodating any size smartphone you can see this mesh pocket. Here stretches out really big you could put a small camera in there or something like that so really good size pockets. There and then on the lid you have the access into the. Back I've got a first aid kit in their so items you want to get your hands on quickly or lightweight items can be. Stored up there on the side of the pack. You have two very stretchy meshes pockets big enough to accommodate any size water. Bottle I've got a 32 ounce water bottle. In there and it fits well you've even got a compression strap on the front so you can compress that down and if you're. Just going on an overnight or a short trip you've got compression straps all over this pack to make the load a little bit smaller you have a full-size lid here. And you can store lots of gear in there so then that gives you access into the. Body of the pack there's even a small hidden pocket back here and that's a. Great feature for travel you've got really easy access into the top of the pack with a nice big opening that's. Really easy to use and i found that this. Pull handle is really nice as well so there're little attentions to detail make. A big difference it's all the access you need into that big pocket then you do. Have access in a couple more areas so. Something i really appreciate about this pack you have a nice big u-shaped zipper. Here where you can access all the gear. That you need that's in the middle of your pack it's tucked away back here so. It doesn't add a lot of weight to the pack but as you can see i can open that. Up nice and wide almost like a piece of luggage and get to all the gear that's in the middle of the pack so i can grab for whatever i need if you're traveling. With this pack taking it overseas you can use it like that so really nice almost hidden pocket there. And then down on the bottom you have access into a sleeping bag compartment down there these zipper poles are so. Easy to use, and they make it nice and easy to get to the bottom now there is a. Divider in between the bottom and the. Middle of the pack but you can tuck that away if you need full access into the whole pack now also behind the scenes there is a. Hidden rain cover the rain cover is. Custom fit for the pack and it's in its own designated pocket right here so rain cover matches the pack and it. Adds a lot of value so you don't have to purchase a separate rain cover in the. Front a nice stretchy dump pocket too and then as you can see all over the. Hey everybody this is Jackie from the budget-minded travelers comm and i want to take a few minutes to show you today why i love my Gregory jade 50 backpacks so much and why i would recommend it for you as your go-to travel backpack but. First of all if you haven't watched my how to choose the right travel backpack video i recommend that you watch that one so that you can understand what we're getting into today I'm going to be talking about the three c's comfort capacity and convenience alright allow. Me to introduce you to my go to travel backpack the Gregory jade 50 it's a. Women's size small for my torso and the. Number 50 is the pack capacity in litres why is this important three reasons. Number one the fact that it's a size. Small is not only great for fitting my torso perfectly but it's a bonus because. Check this out oh whoa thanks okay this. Backpack is about 20 to 21 inches that. Makes it small enough to carry on which is really important to me because i prefer to carry on whenever possible the. Second reason the 50 is perfect for me is that it's small enough so that it discourages me from over packing yet. It's still big enough to fit everything that i need and the third reason is that. It seems to be the perfect size for any length of trip that i take i can take it. For weeks or months it always seems to be the perfect size for me and now we'll talk about comfort look closely at the. Frame of this backpack it's actually shaped against the curve of my back. There's lumbar support at the bottom and there's shoulder support at the top and. The frame never actually touches my back. So when a backpack fits right all the. Weight should be right on your hips and this should be fastened just above your hip bone so once i get all the straps at. Just the right length I'm actually really comfortable and i actually hiked machu picchu with this backpack for three days straight and i didn't have any problems with being sore i also packed like so keep that in mind all right on the convenience it's. Important to look at the pockets straps zippers and extra flair that the backpack has so starting at the top. There's one right across the top here which i like for two reasons on it. Makes a convenient spot to put things that I'll need to access a lot like sunglasses passport wallet hotel keys. There's even a strap on the inside here. For your keys so that they'll keep them in a convenient spot and the second. Think i like about this specific zipper is that the zipper is actually tucked in pretty close to my body so that when I'm wearing it's harder for a thief to. Get to and if you notice right here i. Actually keep a safety pin right there on that loop and that way i can safety. Pin the loop to the strap and it creates a lock on the zipper so i wouldn't have to worry about people trying to get into it anyway alright moving on if you open. It up you'll see that on the inside i. Don't know if you could see this from there, but we'll try there's a pocket. Right against the back here i don't know if you can see it but it fits documents. I always put my flight reservations and important things extra stash of money right there in that pocket because it's almost hidden and the rest of it is just a big open space I've actually got a pillow stuffed in there right now to show you and then on the outside the. First thing that you'll notice is this big bulky pouch and what i love about. This is that i actually use it to put my. Shoes in and you'll see that I've got some shoes in it right here this is a. Very versatile pouch for anything that's. Bulky shaped or maybe muddy i put muddy shoes muddy clothes in here all the time. So that's a great spot for any kind of. Shoes and then on the outside of this there's a long vertical pouch and this. Is actually pretty big this is where i keep my flip-flops because it seems to be the perfect size pocket for a flat pair of flip-flops and then on each side there are these. Adjustable pockets right here which you could also put shoes in or water bottles. There's a velcro if you're not going to use it and there's also a strap right here that you could put around the top of a water bottle or the end of a shoe to hold it in there and that's on both. Sides of this backpack there's also on. The very bottom besides the mud there're some straps here. You could put something long shaped in. This so like when i take this backpacking in the summer camping that's. Where i put my sleeping pad because it's a long awkward shape and it doesn't even then have to go into my backpack it just goes right on the bottom and the last. Think and probably the most important is. This side pocket right here this piece. Of magic allows me to be able to reach. At the bottom of my backpack without having to take everything out through the top every time when i need something that's packed deep and i almost forgot. Right here on the sides of the hip straps there's two more little pockets that are perfect for chapstick they even fit a little point-and-shoot camera and anything that you need to keep convenient with you while you're wearing your backpack those are great pockets for that and there's one more see that i. Didn't talk about with this backpack and that's cost and that's another reason why i love this backpack i actually went. To rei to get fitted for this backpack they had a blue one in the store and once i decided the best the backpack i really wanted i went to the rei outlet and i found this one which is even more perfect for me because my favorite color is red this backpack cost me a hundred. So it really fits like that i haven't had a pack in a long time from nathan that have ever had durability. Issues and we take these on adventure trips through our store and let other people use them you know beat them up out in the mountains on weekend excursions stuff like that we've had really good luck with the durability what you'll get here is nine point three ounces hydration bass holds two litres. Bladder plus a ton of carrying space. This is a size extra small a couple. Things you should know about it's a vest so it's not a pack it is literally. A vest that you strap on so this thing doesn't move about three-quarters the. Way through the bladder in the back i got some tell when in my bottle here other pockets just a lot of accessibility. Grab back here in the front plus another. Pocket here that's on both nathan does some cool stuff with pull-tabs so when you're running in here you're not as able to get to things as. Easily you still have a full tab to help you give to that both of those sites. Have the same type of pocket setup I'm. Running currently with 22 ounce and one of these and it because it rides nice. And close to you it's not a lot of shaking or anything like that and that's one thing i really like a little. Tidbit here for you i always cut my hose. Down so that it fits a lot of people. Think they're supposed to use it at the length and for me I'm not a real big guy so this hose i have a bunch of a kind of hanging over here with this magnet closure right there i get it where i. Want it and then i take this nozzle out. Of their cut it where i want it put the nozzle back in so i don't have a lot of excess bouncing around and annoying me up here this is actually a system that. As you pull that tight it compresses your bladder in the back of the pack and when you do that you're keeping it from sloshing up and down and shaking around as much as you can you're so as you drink more of that fluid out of the bladder and you want to keep it from bouncing around compress that and it holds it nice and tight so you have as little sloshing as possible. You also have pretty sweet things velcro. Closure here for your bladder these are. All wide open on the top to fill in to. Clean and then another nice feature is. That the hose you hear that clip so you. Now that you're locked in and it's not going to be leaking when you put it back in there so if you want to spend some time refilling on-the-go during a race you can and it's not something that's. Cumbersome but it's also just really easy to work with electrodes like tab a. Holder here on the front another pocket. That zips and is expandable on the front. And then along with that here's an. Emergency whistle there are on the top here and on the bottom bungees with. It's for your checking pulls whether you put them up top or on bottom you carry your wives for, so she don't have to carry him because you're a gentleman yeah then you get to the side and again. More storage area those are sat right here below yeah and. It's nice easy because you loosen going back and tighten coming forward so you have a little leverage there, so they've really designed things nicely to work well with you while you're in action not while you're sitting on your couch at home loading it that actually during the activity as well and then on the back another huge stuff sack area. And i want you to see how thin that is. Everything on this is made to be super lightweight you can again see through. This pocket with light in it everything is aerated as well so the footprint. That's on here and how hot it gets on you is really limited as well and then. On top of that besides this bungee on the back there's. Another whole pocket in here that's separated from your bladder actually sits in its own pocket protected so there's a lot of carrying space in this setup without it being. Heavy this is the lightest pack that nathan makes with or without a bladder and it's one of the lightest packs on the market right now, so we've tested it done a bunch of running with shirt without shirt no rubbing on it anymore. Then you would have rubbing if you went out or in three hours in the texture that shirt once it gets wet you may have. Some chaffed but you're not getting any more taking from this from or from a shirt so i have experimented with that a little bit but i did a two-hour run in. Wyoming a couple weeks ago surplus and love them no issues at all hey guys. That's the nathan vapor here why this pack out there two liters of hydration a. Ton of carrying space here under 10. It's what the osprey skimmer 30 looks. Like i have it packed a little bit with some stuff so you can get a little view of what it looks like here are the compression straps on the side very. Useful right here when you have this stuffed with things the compression straps snaps into place and pull it and. One thing that's really interesting about the bottom compression strap is. There is no clip it actually just loosens up like this you see that and. You can allow more things in their put your things in there and then just pull on this strap like that and it tightens up so i like the bottom part of the compression straps and the same thing goes on the other side before i go into. The pockets i just want to let you guys see what it looks like on the shoulder straps as well as you can keep things down in here i keep things down in this pocket quite often on my osprey packs. Very handy this one right here is used for a hydro pack or water pack that you. Can pack in there and it comes to the tube took that out because i don't really use it i just use water bottle but here are the shoulder straps right here i tighten this up to bring it. Closer a little bit closer to the body you can use those and then there's a. Tress strap as you can see right here and this chest strap what's unique about. It is you can slide it up and down you can slide it up and down its kind of hard to do like with it out at having it on and adjust it you know depending on. Where your chest is located alright and then at the bottom is the belt strap and. It comes with pockets these pockets you. Can actually keep things in okay they're pretty handy right down there alright so let's go to the pockets as you can see they have to water pockets one on that side and another one on that. Side and then there's actually this. Isn't really a pool it is a pocket but it's an exterior i put things like a down jacket in there and then close it up and then right here is the main outer pocket you can keep a. Lot of things down in here and don't. Forget this osprey does this wonderful thing where you can clip your keys on here so when you travel and come back you know where your keys are located has several individual pockets in there. As well as a smaller pocket for keeping. Some valuable things i want to keep too. Many valuable things, and they are kind of like to keep it in the main compartment and before we get into the. Main department we have a top compartment right here there's a lot of pockets a lot of places to separate things you can put some things in there and I'm going to open up the main compartment main compartments pretty large i actually have my hydro pack in. There just did that for the video camel pack you can keep some things not much in here there's no compression straps with inside the main compartment which is lacking i kind of liked compression.
