Okay so here's a review we're going to do quickly of the pair of haglöf rugged. Mountain pants so i got them in took me. A long while sheeting of these I'd get them shipped over from uk to here because there's no one selling them over here they're kind of little bit like. The sort of bag rolls pants but i think. These around before i think before bag rolls had his stuff now but i think that. The actual idea of having sort of. Stronger knee pads and by Marietta cetera. Is kind of been around since world war two i think I've seen some people with them uniforms with this kind of. Design and now it's a i think it's. Called a forest green color and we've. Got belt buckles up here just a little. Bit of a stretchy material bun and zip. To do up the fly to two large pockets on. To either side to zipper pockets with. Sort of little lanyard zone and focus. Either side on the sort of thigh kind of good size pocket big as your hand then. Coming down without the this is stretchy strong material and then coming down a. But further we've got the so protected. Where your heels rub together and the. Very bottom got a sort of buckle which. You can kind of pull up the this around yeah boots to make it a little bit sort. Of water and snow resistant stop that. Get into your boots too much cutting internally there's lots this bright orange in the material now which you. No I'm guessing I'm assuming the thought there is really you know if you got to stuck somewhere and has you rescued you know this is an ideal. Obviously or it is an ideal color to. Have floating around to see so someone can find you so you could just put these pants inside out as a last resort and then it's pretty much you know it's. Pretty much everywhere inside the pants it's a good in the pockets and everything so just flip everything inside out put them on you're going to be sort of bright orange from the waist. Down anyway then from the reverse we have the same. Stretch of material on the bum a good patch of that so obviously the. Whole point is if you climb and you know whether even if you hike in client whatever you're doing you know your knees and your bar kind of you always put in the whatever you're wearing under pressure so this is going to give a little bit of give in to that sort of. Area so save saves any ripping or stuff like that two more zippers either side of the sort of back of the thighs again with a sort. Of little lanyards attached to that and. Coming down just the same material so. Nice material feels pretty strong i can't remember i put my foot the specs probably on the video but i can't remember what the materials made of but. It's going to be i think it's breathable washable you know i cannot that's not. Going to stain but they go lots of that. Orange yeah that's that nice orange color so perfect for. Signaling for someone to come and rescue. Okay that's it says the hag lost no i. Found it took me like i say it took me quite a while to actually source these um I've actually had to buy them from the uk get them shipped out to. Where i am they're not they're not generally found. In north america i don't think they sell in north america the other sort of. Version i think is fought for for even wider is has their own version. Of the these kind of pants which are they've kind of it baggy air which i don't like these are kind of bit a more slim fit sort of tight fit as it. Were that's a little tight but sort of. Straight down you know sort of rather than have bagginess kind of like a cargo pant. These are a bit sort of them fit little. But better um i think i look a bit way. Cooler so that's the haglöf rugged. Mountain pan awesome.

Hi I'm john and today I'd like to talk. To you about one of my very favorite pairs of trousers these are. Mine I've owned them for several years, and they are still absolutely immaculate except a bit dirty today, but they're unharmed completely they're called the haglöf rugged mountain pants now they're. One of the most expensive trousers we sell but in my opinion they're one of. The most perfectly designed pairs of trousers on the market and an investment. In these is great value because as i say they do the job brilliantly, and they would last and last and last so let me. Take you through them first of all it's a combination of materials both materials are extremely durable and just. They just don't seem to abrade over the knees you have a really robust material which is full stretch so as you're walking uphill there's no resistance on the knee at all that same material is then on the back side so again there's no resistance at all you have. Two large cargo pockets here which. Expand and take a fair bit of kit you. Have two comfortable kinds of jeans like. Pockets here which is just so natural to walk in many soft shell pants have zip pockets here they're not as nice to slide your hands into because you can feel the zip on the back of your hand whereas these are really comfortable and just very nice to walk with you have at. The side on each side you have a vent so. If you get a little warm you can vent and open it and let a bit of heat out and at the cuff you have an inbuilt. Gator which you can pull in and lock off. To cinch around your boot to keep them up from going up inside your boot now i wear these trousers 3/4 of the year. Spring fantastic autumn fantastic and. Then in the winter over a light pair of. Baselayer pants they just absolutely. Peerless i do all my walking in them i. Rock climb in them i got mountaineering in them as i say if i wash these now they would look as new, and they're several years old they've been worn a lot when you buy them they come with. What's called a durable water repellent. Finish which is an agent which sits in fabric and causes water to bead and roll off what that means is that when you wear them in a shower or drizzle the. Water won't go through it just bowls off so you can wear these in quite bad. Whether without needing to put your over trousers on which for me makes them incredibly versatile so as i say they're one of the most expensive trousers we sell in my opinion they are just beautifully designed and so comfortable i live in them i really enjoy them I'm. That in a bit closer it is a full. Zippered jacket so nice access getting. In and out of the jacket nice touch for. A piece that's weighing or less than 4 ounces there is one small pocket here on. The hoody it's set high on the chest so you can skim keep valuables kind of close at. Hand streamline tucked away that as well. Doubles as the stuff sack for the. Houdini the patagonia men's Houdini. Hi this is tyler with trail for two and today I'm going to be doing a quick review on the patagonia Houdini wind. Shirt so I've actually had this jacket for a little while now but i wanted to give it a good test out in the field and. Really make sure that the information i was giving you and my reviews and opinions were based on actual field experience and not just my initial thoughts of it after opening it from the. Package that i ever seemed it in so as. You see here it is quite a small package on just only a couple inches tall by need four or five inches long here this. Is actually stuffed into its own chest pocket so this is the extent of the. Pocket you see here to that there's a. Little tab if you wanted to attach it to a pack with a carabiner by some other. Method so it is pretty compact nice. Little package here i know that a few other wind shirts the pocket is larger. So when you stuff it into it doesn't come back down into such a small space. And it's kind of freely moving around i. Will say that it is a little bit of a wrestling match to try to get it in here. And it is a little bit tricky to close. It up i have found though that if you. Unzip the zipper first it makes it. Slightly easier to get it in but it is. Still, a little bit rough to squeeze it. In here so before we get started I'll go. Ahead and weigh it so you have a feel. For what we're looking at so according. To my scale here i have a man's size. Small and it weighs three point four. Nine ounces so it is a pretty lightweight option it is a very thin. Material it's by no means the lightest. Wind shirt that there is out there and but it's also not the heaviest there are. Quite a few that are heavier than this but i would say that it does kind of fall into the mid-range as far as weight goes, so we'll go ahead and take a look at it so open it up. Like i said this is the chest pocket. And that is the one and only pocket so. That might be a drawback for you if you're looking for some storage space this jacket definitely does not have it. It is very minimalistic has very few. Features which is partly why i like it. It's very simple so here as you see it. Is a full length zipper which is nice. You don't have to pull it on over your head but it is a full length zipper just. Kind of interesting to that it's not light even with the full length zipper so on a couple different features that i. Want to talk about here first of all start with on the cuff so if you take a. Look at the cuff the top is just a normal stitch but underneath about half. Of the wrist is elastic so I'd know if. They did that to cut down on weight or whatever but it's kind of nice because the top will stay flat to your wrist and. So if there is any water or anything that rolls off or beans off it's not dealing with you know this wrinkled. Material but it does stay pretty flat to. Your wrist and then also if you're needing to pull. Up your sleeves at all that elastic on the bottom really keeps a snug fit and. Again on that top part is very flat. Against your arm so any moisture can run. Off if you needed to pull up your sleeve like that and it does a nice job it stays pretty secure pretty snug so. That's one feature that's kind of nice. Having that available so taking a look at the jacket here like i said it is a full length zipper this is a man's size. Small like i said so if you take a look. It does zip up pretty high that's. Actually a feature that i really like it really keeps you warm and it really does. What its name says it is a wind shirt and it does job of keeping out the wind and keeping. You really warm so that added height to. The zipper really encloses everything so. That's pretty nice and again like i said the chest pocket is really only about this big right here so that's not very. Substantial again there are not any side. Pockets here but that's something you. May want to think about so the really. The selling point that pushed me in the. Direction of this jacket was the fit of. The hood and it's cinch capabilities so. There are other jackets out there that have these you know hoods that are. Able to cinch down but i did quite a bit of research before and i went to. Different stores try them all on went online looked at different reviews. Watched youtube videos and it all came. Down to really me liking the features of. This jacket the best I'll go ahead and. Show you the hood it is a pretty snug. Fit to begin with which is pretty nice even with it not zipped up all the way. You know it conforms to your head and. Stays on it's a really nice fit and when. You zip this up all the way really the only thing exposed is just your face. Right here so in those conditions where it is windy or even if you get caught in a light rain and that's something that is really nice to have also there is in. The back here if you can see it there's. A little pull tab that you're able to cinch you down the hood even further so. If you cinch that down really it's basically cinches right here. All the way back and so it's really just. Kind of brings it all in right on your. Head and really conforms to your head and that's part of the reason i like this too is that there are other jackets out there where the hood is not very movable meaning that when you move your head that kind of stays in the forward direction in your head moves sideways but this does a really nice job. Of keeping with your head so if you're. Really active running or doing anything. Like that this does a really nice job of keeping. Up with that so primarily i use this. Jacket up in the mountains and I'm hiking and when i go out on lakes flag. Fishing up in the mountains even if it's. A sunny day and it's pretty warm the wind can get pretty chilly and so this is something nice to have to take out on. The water with me also just to provide that extra layer of protection it. Actually is a really good layer of sun. Protection also sometimes even if it's. Warm while i was throw this on to have that action that extra layer just because it is so thin in fact you can. Probably see through the material here. It is very thin you can see my hand behind it but um it is very lightweight. Which is a good thing it lives up to its. Name of a wind shirt and if you throw on. Another layer under this shirt it really does an extra nice job of insulating you. From the elements i have worn this in a. Light rain and it did a really nice job the water beated up rolled right off i. Had no problem i wasn't wet or clammy underneath it all but i definitely would. Not recommend substituting this jacket. For a real rain jacket if you were to. Come upon any real rain conditions but. If you know you get caught in between some weather unexpected weather this is. Definitely a good item to have with you even if you're just going on a day hike or not really expecting any sort of weather this is a great option to have so i definitely recommend the patagonia. Houdini if you're looking into a lightweight wind shirt and it doesn't have a lot of features as far as storage goes but what kind of pushed me. In the direction of this jacket was its. Capability here with the hood and the. Of the hood so something else to that. I'll do is I'll I'll wear a hat and then put the hood over it and that cinching capability really helps to snug it all. In on your head I'm also same kind of idea of the wrist. Being flat on the front and then it's cinching in the back or having the. Elastic on the back half on the front of. Your jacket here so the front there's not any elastic here at all but there is. A shock cord here that runs from. Basically here all the way around the back to this side so it cinches in the. Back and keeps the front flat so that's. Something nice too is you don't get this awkward bunched jacket in the front but. Pretty much everything in the front stays flat and conforms to your body so. That's something that's nice too so definitely look at the patagonia Houdini. If it's something you're looking into our highly recommend. Oh.

About this jacket at least for me was the name so pedigo knee already has a Houdini jacket line it's lightweight. Weather protection for hiking and trail running cycling the alpine Houdini took. The best concepts from that jacket and made modifications specific for climbers. Right so this jacket is really intended to be a lightweight weather protection. Layer that you can bring on save bigger. Climbing objectives where you worried about weight and not really know it's there until you need it a storm rolls in so some of the features that make the jacket it's very lightweight and minimal all you've got essentially is a. Full zip the hood and an internal pocket. And that's it so that comes out to 6.6 ounces at least on the men's medium the. Hood is helmet compatible obviously important for climbers keep the wind and the rain out when i fire the feature i. Like the most about this jacket is that when you're not using it you can reverse the internal pocket stuff the entire jacket in their clip a carabiner on to. The sewn in loop put it on the back of your harness and forget about it essentially until the weather rolls in you need it a couple other key features about this jacket than making an ideal one air shall for climbers it's just made of quality material 2010 ear nylon so it's. Not gonna rip up easily while you're climbing it's got fully taped seams a. Dwr membrane so it's gonna keep you dry. In the rain it's still gonna be breathable the jacket also comes with. These elastic cuffs which are nice. Because they stay conform to your wrists but also allow some movement if you have other layers in there and the. Jacket also has single pull draw cords for both the waist and the helmet so that keeps everything nice and tight so when it gets really windy overall the. Alpine Houdini is a really nice jacket comes in around $200 so it's been on the. Pricey side but if you are a climber. Who's interested in climbing fast and. Light doesn't want to bring a lot of gear with you but doesn't want to compromise on weather protection then you should definitely check this jacket out it's a great piece of gear and you can find it online at mountain gear comm. Will be looking at the patagonia Houdini wind jacket it's one of our staff favorites here at pro light here something really nice the patagonia doesn't notice their pieces is they do build the pocket you can stuff it into where some other companies only give you a stuff sack to put it in and i like having the pocket just built in this way. Is 4.2 ounces it's very durable has a. Great fit to it the hood has a slight. Adjustment to it where other wind shirts are lacking it's just a piece of elastic i do like the fact that you can actually cinch this one down it does have adjustment the back point so you can fit it with a ball cap or a bear hat or a bear head actually the. Cuffs straight piece of elastic my only. Complaint about this is sometimes it's not tight enough and moves on your arm a little bit but overall a fantastic piece.

Everybody jonathan gimme calm here and I'm just gonna bring to light on my favorite piece is a kit it's a classic and always comes with me and it's actually in my pocket right now it is the patagonia Houdini jacket gets name. Houdini because it can get into pretty tight spaces and it packs into his own chest pocket it's just a wind jacket. Nothing special but man oh man is this. Thing get used it has a dwr coat coating. On it so it will you know shed some rain. Or snow but it's no means waterproof. Although there is a waterproof version and it's just a very simple wind jacket. Here's a chest pocket right here this whole jack will easily stuff into that there's a little loop on here so you put onto a carabiner on your harness or a backpack this is an extra large it fits. Me very well and last esaias cusp which. Is always nice just a nice basic hood. Very thin fabric slight bit mechanical. Stretch to it for how thin it is of. Course I'm always concerned about how durable will be after two seasons of use lots of use I've only had a patch up one. Little hole right here some tenacious tape just super easy to do so comes in. Put it non hooded and even a pullover an. Rack style and there is a waterproof version as well we'll have links on all those below this is the patagonia eenie jacket there it is. Hi there and welcome to everybody's. Looked on through the website or anybody on youtube who's floating around and. What we're going to do is a very quick demonstration on the eclipse hooded tee from matt and equipment this. Is one of my favorite base layers for. Many reasons i think probably because not only does it do its job and do. Extremely well i wick away moisture yeah. It's also got other advantages as well. But why a base layers say over a t-shirt. Which is what a lot of people out their work where most people in the military. Would have been in situations where they've been working out, or they've been either on operations or exercise where. Their t-shirts become drenched in sweat. Not really a problem until the end of the day when you start to cool down and your t-shirt doesn't dry out that's the. Reason why base layers work well because. At the end of the day they wick away moisture leaving you dry and comfortable. This particular garment the eclipse. Hooded tee from mountain equipment a brand is synonymous with quality okay as. Many features first of all it's got flat. Looking seams that means that the garment itself is not going to rub you up against the wrong way it's made of a techno stretch fleece. From a company called bob bergdahl i. Have to say pompadour dawg because it's italian if when i said once he talked to her it wouldn't sound quite right and it. Weighs in at 290 grams so it's very light as i said it's got flat lock seams. Other features about the garment is it. Zipped it's got a ykk zip which is deep. Centered so if i just pull this out you. Can actually take the zip take this zip. Which runs up the side of your face and doesn't actually run up your throat actually runs up and to the side of the chin which is brilliant it's not going to basically getting away and be irritating you can actually take this zip and you can undo it all the way down. To your midriff this is something that you don't get from a t-shirt and you don't get from a lot of the base layers they're out on the market at the moment if you want to do it the opposite you can basically flip up the hood which is got and you can only take the zip up. Round underneath your chin and over your. Nose the thing i like about this. Particular garment is that it keeps your extremities warm so if you're out in norway or in the middle of winter you can it basically bring the chin guard up. Bring down the hood and now you're. Covering up your extremities the tip to your ears and your nose the hood itself. Is unobtrusive it doesn't get in the way. And it can even be top to work so you. Can see from that it's an unobtrusive hood but should you be non. Tackle semi tactical it's there it's an. Option for you to use also got thumb. Loops on the ends of your sleeves the. Reason why i like thumb loops is that when you're putting on your gloves you can actually slide your gloves on and you and your sleeve doesn't disappear at. Your wrist house it keeps things comfortable it could also bring the. Ends of the sleeves down over your knuckles so basically they're almost starting to act as hand warmers the. Other thing about the garment and it's all about attention to detail is you will notice that the garment is cut very. Long a lot of you would have been used to basically having t-shirts and other base layers ruching up behind them with it being carrying bergen's this one won't do that because it's going on as well. Note that it seemed free around the waist area so when you're putting the buckles of your waist belt on it's not. Going to be rubbing you up the wrong way. Finally, it's got blue it's blue sign. Approved what does this mean well in a. Nutshell it ain't gonna smell when it's. Sweaty so that in itself is worth. Considering so there you go that's the eclipse hooded teeth man equipment remember don't compromise on your. Equipment you're out there doing a job. Hi everyone today I'm taking a look at. The battle equipment eclipse hooded zip-t so lightweight fleece mid layer. Stroke base layer i tend to use it as a. Lightweight mid layer rather a base layer basically because the fit isn't really skin tight so i can fit a. Close-fitting base layer underneath and use this as a lighter weight mid layer. Maybe underneath a thicker mid layer or. If it's not that could then just as a. Standalone mid layer it's made from. Ponte auto tech no stretch fleece which is a lightweight gridded fleece material. So on the inside the fleecy sections are. Cut into a grid pattern i really like. Gridded pieces the increased surface. Area of the grid helps trap more heat so. You get a better warmth to weight ratio before the fleece also helps with. Readability against surface area it's. More surface area to transport the moisture away from you away from your body and wicks well it is not wind. Resistant at all is there's a one downside compared to maybe a traditional fleece or a slightly hard face to face. The grids obviously leave big gaps. Which the wind just comes right through so bad to use underneath something if. It's windy there are two weights of fleece used in this top the gray. Sections under the arms down the sides. Around the bottom hem all the way around. And the back of the neck. And around the mouth piece are all a. Lighter weight than the red sections which is everywhere else so you've got a zoned sort of climate control where you. Really do expect to be a bit more sweaty and the arms fall where you want slightly lower profile around the lower hem or around the wrists you've got a. Thinner lighter fleece the sleeves on. This is long very long as you can see i. Have really long arms i normally find. Sleeves too short these are really nice and long the integrated thumb loops work. Well they're really comfortable there's plenty of length that you're not putting. On any part of the sleeve to put them on. But if you don't want to use them then it sits very nicely and you can move really easily very stretchy material as. Well you have one zipped chest pocket. Quite small enough space for a mobile phone a couple of snack bars or something and a deep zip past it. Preventing and just make it be easier to. Get on and off the real masterpiece of. This top is the hood which is pretty. Unique in that it's a really close-fitting hood so will fit really nicely. Under a helmet or under a hat or anything give some light warmth as well. And you also have a balaclava style. Front piece which is you zip the main. Zip all the way up you'll see it tapers off to an angle so that it's not in line. With your mouth it's out of the way and if you get that all the way up to the. Top you can get a balaclava complete bal. Collar style like that and you can if. You tuck the sides of the hood in it gives a really close fit so that it's barely any of your face showing well you. Can drop it down and really easy to move. Due to the way it's constructed the. Mouthpiece is stitched slightly back. From the end of the hood so it's almost hinged by there so if it was connected. To the front of the hood you wouldn't be able to do this you'd have to unzip it, so they've done been really clever and how they've designed that so that really. Easy to use and you can also drop the. Hood back easily without unzipping it. Have the mouth up hood down really no. Problems using that really easy to use innovative i really like it you have a.
