Quarter back here with a mud garden to really keep everything protected with a mesh lined interior very comfortable in their feeling good once you lace up but. They really thick epa mid sole beneath all that to give you that shock absorption that you need and down here a bomb we got that really solid rubber outsole here with those lugs that you see throughout handle all different types terrain so go ahead and lace yours up today they're from the north face

Took some advice and from fellow co-workers and bought some of the more expensive salomon boots had trouble with them right out of the box my reviews they're on amazon if you want to check that out one hundred and seventy-nine dollar boots, and they cracked right here within three weeks they sent me another pair. And they cracked right there within three weeks same boot i wasn't impressed. With that for the price they were comfortable and a good-looking boot but i can't have a hundred seventy dollar boots cracking within just a few weeks and there's other people having issues with that boot as well so just moving on i finally landed on these keens i picked. These one day the target is on amazon there and i got him in, and they look. Like they were going to be a heavy boot but guys really they're not they're. They're no more heavy than the salomon boots they just look like they're heavier and I'm gonna tell you why these things are built tough man these things are tanks i love them absolutely love. I'm going to show you something real quick let us try to kind of sink in just. A little bit for you guys seven months ten to twelve miles a day six days a. Week that boot right there. Now I've walked the heel off these boots right here as you can see now that's just how i walk that's a bad habit of. Mine but that's where they wear right there no splitting between the leather and the. Sole no splitting right here on this material where the toe bends no. Splitting there whatsoever the typical. Problems that you generally have with boots i didn't with these pins i have. Replaced the insoles about four times i. Think since i got these boots and seven. Months so i tell you the amount of walking and i do smash the footbed pretty bad I'm 205 pounds six. Foot tall and doing that that amount of. Walking in a boots you know the. Insoles need to be replaced about four. Times i think in this pair of boots that's the most I've ever replaced in a pair of boots usually it's the second time in those boots or trash there's something wrong with them one thing i want to touch on real quick is the water. Proofing that says again king dry system. In it and i love it but it's a wording. Think with me I'm not a big fan of it when somebody says that their boot is waterproof guys it's not waterproof its. Water resistant okay they're the only. Way to make this boot waterproof is to completely surround it and rubber that's it that's waterproof water resistant is. A better word and this boot actually. Does an amazing job of it that water resistance without having to use any can't dry or anything like that lasted. About four months in these boots and that was through the fall in the winter so a lot of rain and a lot of snow that. I packed i walked with these boots in and my feet stayed dry all day now i did. You know common sense don't walk in. Water with them try to i mean if you're walking through wet grass and you step in a puddle occasionally a little bit of. Water but when you start walking in water and it starts getting up into here your feet are going to get wet guys that's water resistance. So i just i just kind of wanted to touch on that a little bit like i said its kind of wording issue with me the. Way they toss that word around so easily. But you can see like on this pair of boots the shoe strings just in the last couple of months they busted here and i had the time together they busted up here and i tied them together but everything is still amazing about this. Boot all the little eyelets are still attached all the stitching is still good there's no busted stitching there's. Nothing there's no leather coming away from the insole the toes not peeling off the bottom is not cracked i get a lot of. Boots that crack right here just an. Amazing boot i these boots blow my mind ordered my. Second pair just last month and today i felt like i needed to get on there and share that information with you guys absolutely love the boots i will continue to buy this boot as long as. They keep making it comfortable right out of the box absolutely just broken. Right out of the box i love that about these as well they're not super heavy the water resistance works great and the boots. Just last i really liked them so i just. Then a very good test over many kilometers on many hikes across many different trails here's what i thought of them as you would expect from merrill they are very good shoe with many high quality features that made my hiking a. Very pleasurable experience first of all. I really like their solid construction when i put them on i could feel that they were a hiking shoe that would perform well and last a long time the. Core of the shoe is rugged and provides lots of support and protection for rocky. Technical trails the upper is a durable suede leather and mesh and of course you. Have a substantial protective rubber toe cap for added protection something you won't necessarily find in cheaper shoes are these bellows here attached to a closed cell foam tongue that's going to. Help keep out moisture and debris and of. Course only in a premium shoe are you going to find excellent waterproofing the moab twos have merrill's m select. Dry which seals out water but let's moisture escape so you stay dry when you're on the move i want to point out the webbing eyelets that go in this shoe i prefer this kind of eyelet because it. Just seemed to provide a better fit to wrap it all up they have a v blum sole with a 5 millimeter lug depth that gives them excellent grip on a wide variety of terrain all of fits adds up to a shoe that weighs in at two pounds one ounce for nine hundred and forty grams each of. These features contribute to a very solid shoe that make it very likely that. This shoe will continue performing for many kilometers for many years to come. Finally, i was curious about the name moab and it turns out that's an acronym for a mother of all boots that's a bold. Statement but i think it's one that meryl can get away with on this hiking shoe it is very comfortable and an incredibly functional hiker you won't be disappointed.

Hey everyone I'm adam with merrill i want to talk to you about my favorite hiking boots the moab to mid waterproof this boot is awesome and i think you're going to love it as well it's known for its out of the box comfort so as soon as you put your foot in it you're gonna get that merrill wild moment and just want to go hit the trails so let's talk about what makes it so great when we look at the outsole of this boot we've got a vibram outsole so it's super grippy super durable so when you're hitting the trails they're wet they're muddy you're gonna be gripping just fine and it's gonna last you for years in the mid sole here we have our merrill air cushion right under the heel so it's essentially a little cutout like if you took an ice-cream scoop right to the foam and put another layer right over it creates a little trampoline effect for that heel feels amazing right underfoot getting into the upper. Here we've got a nice performance was that's going to be really durable it's gonna shed dirt clean up nice, and we. Also have this silicone stability band here that wraps around both sides of the foot so when you've got a light to medium pack you're gonna be supported in that boot it features our m select drive. Waterproof membrane which is both breathable and waterproof so even though this boot looks really messy it allows your foot to sweat and that sweat will evaporate out of the boot but it does not allow water into the boot this boot features our typical narrow fit which is going to be snug in the heel precise over this instep and really roomy in that toe box so it's an anatomical fit and it's comfortable right out of the box so you can gear up and hit the trail today

Thanks for joining me again today I'm sharing with you my thoughts about the salomon x altra 3 mid gore-tex hikes. Boots I'm gonna start off by saying that. I really love these boots in fact so far. Like I've I've gone through a lot of different boots and shoes and so far these are by far the best ones I've used. I'm not gonna say they're perfect as there are a couple of things that i wish were a little bit different but get to that in a little bit but I'm a huge fan. Of these so first off let's see where to begin so the ok so i have kind of wide toes. And i need kind of wide toe box so the. Ones that i got these are a and so. Technically my foot from size wise is a. From heel toe i measure out as a 10. However typically i try to go with like. A 10 and a half or 11 for you know to. Have a little bit extra space at the end so that when I'm going downhill my toes don't hit the inside of the front of the toe box this is a size 11 wide so it's. Got an extra wide toe box for me and I've been very happy with that overall. Except for one part but I'll tell you that in a second so these they're a. Gore-tex boot although I'll be honest it's been pretty dry here in southern. California so far we have not had much wet weather so I've not seriously been. Able to test them in wet conditions although recently i did go into river with them, and they were pretty good but i don't want to really say anything yet about the waterproofing until I've done a better a more thorough test on the. Waterproofing side of it um a few things. That are noteworthy pretty lightweight one thing that's super cool about this boot is that it's kind of hybrid between like a heavy-duty hiking boot. And like a and like a trail running shoe. So it's pretty lightweight it's got pretty good decent flexibility and it. Kind of feels like more of a running shoe than like a heavy hiking boot. Let's see another thing really like about it is that the lacing. System so something an issue I've had in the past with some other boots. Hiking boots is that when i lace it up i. Just find that the laces dig in through the tongue into like the front of my foot like the lower ankle shin area i. Have not had that issue at all with these so far they've been comfortable. Right out of the box no blisters at all. Um I've been doing a lot of experimenting with the lacing and stuff to get a good solid fit but the butt. Inside these boots like these boots really hugged my foot in my heel and. Everything so it doesn't slip around or anything it's been really incredible I've been really impressed one thing that i found regarding the lacing is that so as you can see here i actually. Removed the laces from the bottom two. Laces because what i found is even though these are a wide if i haven't laced all the way down to the end. When i tighten that up it ends up squashing my toes on top of. Each other so that kind of defeated the purpose of it being wide i wish that these lowest one started just a little. But higher like they do on some other shoes and then it would i would actually. Be able to make use of the wide part so what i did instead was i just removed it from there and i started the lacing at the next rung which it's a little bit on the high side you know of the foot but it works a lot better now so I'm pretty. Happy with that and I'm not finding that my foot sliding around at all you know it's its been quite satisfactory and now i can actually wiggle my toes in the front let's see what else it's got these. You know it's got a few different hooks for the lacing stuff um and like i said. I've been experimenting with the lacing to really find the best way of like locking the foot in no one thing so I'm. A big fan of using gaiters when I'm hiking so that i don't get debris and. Rocks and sand and stuff coming in from the top and so i typically wear the rei. Activator gaiters with these boots now. Something that i found was there isn't really let's see if you can see that isn't really enough of a lift. In the arch to accommodate the strap for. That's that's found on most gaiters and. In fact actually i was i had the strap. You know running under there and it broke so i actually had to fix it but. What i ended up doing was if you look at like ultra brand shoes al tra one of the. Things that they do is they make a what's called a gator trap at the heel, and then they have liked you know. Specific gators there's a couple different brands of gators that accommodate the gator trap and I'll show you what the gator trap is i actually fabricated one myself and attached it onto these shoes so what it is it's. And I'll show you how to use it actually so here are my rei activator gators and. What you do let's this isn't gonna work. That well and i mean it works great but. It's gonna be hard to demonstrate here. We go okay so here's the back ends of the gator what you do is you just put. That into there and then that and then. You lock it in and then this part let me see if i can do this a little better yeah there we go that part okay the rest. Of it sits on top of the gator i mean. Over the shoe this looks super sloppy. But and then it's got a hook in the. Front you hook it up onto the laces so that's basically what it looks like when I'm wearing it and then no rocks come in. From the top and it's been great like that let's see a couple other things. That i like so one thing that's nice is. It has like this kind of rubberized so. It has like the toe bumper here in the front and then it's got like this rubberized material like shell that kind. Of protects the gore-tex fabric beneath. It and that's nice because i you know my. Feet are scratching up against rocks and. All kinds of stuff when I'm hiking especially doing a lot of the technical trail running and you know and. Scrambling and stuff like that it's nice that they've rubberized all this to protect to the actual more delicate fabric from tearing i feel. Like these were just really well thought through boots overall oh another thing so flexibility pretty decent flexibility. I like having good flexibility one thing that i wish was different is these do have like a little bit of a raised heel i prefer the whole zero drop you know. Flat sole thing i just think it's i find. That i just feel more balanced when. It's flat so that's one thing i wish was a little bit different that and like you know that the lacing starting a little bit higher it's got really good traction. On the sole it's not a vibram sole its. Like a proprietary Suleiman sole i guess. But it's awesome i have no attachment to. Using a vibram sole this has been amazing so anyway that's pretty much it. Hey guys today I'm going to do a quick review and a waterproof test on the Solomon x altra mid to gtx hiking boot. You can find these at pretty much any outdoor store rei is a advocate of. Salomon boots and you can find pretty much any pair that salomon sells at rei so to get right into it while I'm. Talking I'm going to dump the front. Portion of this boot into the water here. Was kind of hard to find a bucket that would fit my whole boot i wear size 12. So as you can see it is submerged in the. Water to up about right here fully submerged I'm going to let that sit while I'm talking about the shoe I'm. Going to slide this back right here so i can show you the other shoe i really. Love this pair these pair of boots they're awesome you know i can wear them out to the store i can wear them the city and then i can take them out hiking and i and i always trust that they're going to work you know salomon advertises that the fact that they're the nose is very flexible so you can push it down as such yeah that's a cool. Feature but the number one reason why i love these boots is they are literally. 100% waterproof I'm kind of doing this. Review to show you guys how awesome they. Are i can take these out in western washington where i live, and they're essentially like wearing rubber rain boots but was more comfortable well they. Up to a double gore-tex line which is. Probably the reason why they're so waterproof you know the appearance. They're very attractive looking you know they have a great black color scheme. Which pretty many goes with any outfit you never have to worry about your shoes sticking out or you know a brown belt black dilemma i was a little upset that. Solomon didn't make their classic quick. Quick lay system with these boots these are the regular shoe laces and i would say that's probably the only issue i have with them the shoe laces come undone quite often i don't know what it. Is if they're stiff but even when they're wet I've broken them in they. Still don't quite stay tight throughout the whole day ok it's been about a minute and a half let's come back and take a look at these right here so this is the boot i fully submerged I'm going to take it out I'll. Let it drip off so as you can see it's. Fully saturated which is a big problem with most waterproof items once they get saturated it's pretty much like wearing wet sock even though you know water. Might not have actually seeped through you can pretty well bet your whole sock is soaked which is something that really bothers me isn't claimed to be waterproof they should be waterproof so I'm going to take this dry napkin I'm. Going to shove it in the shoe let's see. If we can get any moisture so you have. To trust me when i say i cannot feel any water whatsoever these been fully submerged for two minutes with zero. Water whatsoever and as you can see i got the whole steam all of these seams. And everything through here even in the tongue really right here is fully soaked to about this portion let's pull. It out nothing literally is 100% dry so. There's a quick review very biased but i. Absolutely love the shoe like i said great buy really it's one of the cheaper. You know ankle boots out there it's very sturdy it's very comfortable it's very light that's something i really loved about it most muti buyer very clunky the. Only complaint i had with a shoe lace system which I'm happy to say salomon has released an ankle chute the same. Exact shoe just does not go up it stops. About right here and it does have the quick lace system that's something I'm looking at getting very soon so there you go guys i hope you buy the shoe i love it thanks.

Everyone today just want to make a quick video i decided to get a new pair of hiking boots for the late 2018 and early. 2019 season so i'll be showing you the. New pair of boots that i got and what my old one was and why i decided to switch so my new boots that i just got are the. Salomon gx gtx ultra threes these are. From salomon and here we here we go. Right here this is the salomon gtx this. Is a size 10 you can see i got the the. Mid size not the not the lower version. They do have regular laces instead of the quickly system that salomon offers and i'm thinking i'm gonna light that better this is actually the first pair of solomon's that i'm gonna be owning so. I'm really excited to try them out you see they got the nice rubber tread at. The bottom there this is a size 10 so. I'm pretty excited to try them out the main reason why i decided to switch was. The weight so if i set these down right. Here the old boot that i got were is the. Vask breeze to hiking boot this is a. Waterproof boot it has gore-tex lining. The only con that i'm finding is that. This boot weighs 2 pounds 9 ounces for. The pair and this is a size 11 so i. Definitely wanted to go with something that was a lot lighter and i decided that i would give salomon a try so i say. So i decided to try the salomon gtx. Ultros so i just want to make a quick. Video these are significantly lighter for the pair of they weigh under 2 pounds so i'm. Saving over half a pound of weight which. Is great and because they are the mid size i will still be able to have the. Support that i need for when i go backpacking so that's the main reason. You guys since i finished the georgia portion of. The appalachian trail it's been raining almost non-stop it's finally. Right now just drizzly so i just came. Out to walk around the neighborhood and i found this really cool old fireplace. That i don't know. Must have belonged to some kind of home. And look at that's like the biggest. Rhododendron i have ever seen at least. I'm pretty sure it's a rhododendron and right now of course it's starting to. Rain hopefully i won't get soaked but i have. Been going stir-crazy so i wanted to. Tell you about the new shoes that i got. From rei gosh i think i got them maybe. Like a month ago over six weeks ago i. Can't even remember now oh hey. I found what appears to be a bit of. Betrayal If my suspicions are correct if this. Should be going the link might be for. Launching back to the shoe story i. Picked up a pair of oboes and. I have been toying with the idea of trying ovo's ever since i came down with. The plantar fasciitis in my right heel. And let me tell you seven months later. My heel is one well. Not 100% but i want to say like 90%. Pain-free finally and the minute that i. Put the oboz on and walked in them like. Five steps. I knew that my foot was gonna feel. Better because the arch in it is just. Like the arch and my choco sandals and. Those were the only other shoes that. Allowed my foot to feel okay. We are These shoes have been a lifesaver and. The best part is that i found out that. Oboes the insole that goes with the shoe. Phobos makes the insole as a standalone. So i was able to buy a set of insoles to. Put in my work shoes my hope does and. Between using the new hiking shoes and. Using the insoles in my hoe cos my foot. Okay this is a review of the women's. Oboes low top hiking shoe i did buy. These at a local store i did not buy them from amazon but i wanted to add this review i have a wide foot and a. High arch and these shoes work very well. They have a nice wide toe box and they. Have a narrow, but they have a narrow heel they have a good arch support on the inside and i like the fact that it. Has a very aggressive tread so it works. Very well been a lot of hikes with these i have not had any trouble hiking on a. Lot of loose scree and these catch very. Well i don't slip and slide it will fall. Walked on wet rocks and other surfaces. That were not very stationary and they. Work very well i can walk them in all day and even though they have a tough aggressive tread they do have enough cushion on the inside that they are comfortable enough to wear all day and. They don't hurt my feet a lot of shoes. When they put a pretty tough tread on the bottom end up being too hard on your. Feet but these have just the right amount of arch support and cushion and a. Nice rugged sole.
