How’s it going guys Nathan a this MRE ration. This particular one is chili mac with beef, okay, so I was at Walmart last night over in the camping aisle. What was that looking at for looking for something I? Never now some lacrosse, these guys remember the very last video we did. I bought some of these at Academy Sports. There were seven seven, something for a bag of Walmart has them for four and some change, so they only had four I grabbed one of each and we’ll be doing those throughout this particular one is twelve games of twelve grams of protein.

It’s one serving per bag, so the net weights, one point: nine one: ounces, 54 grams, so this one is chili mac with be spicy sauce with macaroni beef and beans. Okay, so has a Best Buy Day on the back is 2046 August, 2, 2014 6, so they’re good for quite some time. These are freeze-dried rations. These are made by organ freeze-dried, you’ve, probably seen some organ freeze-dried stuff and some of the past MREs, the milk cold weather and some of the old Vietnam era ones we did so.

Basically, this has directions here: open package, tear not removing discard, oxygens or burr- obviously careful, add three carefully add 3/4 cup of boiling water. We heard the beaver Guelph a couple seconds ago. That was a microwave doing that and it’s interesting. This is only 3/4 of a cup to lasts. Only there was 13 ounces, which is the huge difference, stir carefully and closed zipper option. Aunts are four minutes stir again, let’s stand eight to nine minutes and we know from doing the ones in the past, it’s more like 15 to 20 minutes you, let’s stand otherwise eat hard, hard little bits in it.

So let’s go ahead and rip her open and see what we got here. It’s kind of strange to pull that guy right now for it forget about it, maybe see. Maybe you can see down the bag. Macaroni smells a little bit like chili powder doesn’t really have much of a smell which is par for the course on freeze-dried stuff. So let’s go and get the water and dump it in and see what we got. Okay, so let’s go ahead and do it to it. It’s like a might need a little bit more white balance, but not too much all right.

Let’s go ahead and put this in here. This is 3/4 a cup of well, it’s not boiling at this very second, but it just was when I took it out and I was up late last night, I was buying stuff off eBay I bought a case of halal rations and some other survival rations I’m still waiting on one of the buy more Russian stuff, I’m still waiting on the one to get here from Moscow. It’s been 42 days and transit. Something kind of scared by anymore until that shows up the Russian stuff is a big hit.

It is, it can be wicked expensive, though now they could run into 60 70 bucks real easy on some of those. If it’s a little bit more rare, give it a good mix, make sure you get the corners of the bag and there will zip er back up and we’ll leave it like that, will come back and roughly 15 to 20 minutes we’re back. It’s been probably close to 20 minutes, still really hot. Just to make sure it’s set long enough to saturate, especially the beef chunks or I, go and get a tray out here and we’re going to plate this thing up and see what it’s all about open it up here once smells like chili, didn’t smell, overly spicy or anything.

So let’s go ahead and rake her out here. Pour it out ready, it looks like it’s reconstituted, pretty good. It does. I got stuck my head in the shot. It does seem like it’s not a lot of food, though alright, that’s pretty much 95% of it set that off to the side, see ya pretty pretty small meal overall, and you see it has whole beans in it. Chili beans, the macaroni has ground beef all throughout it. A spin ful here see if it’ll focus in, let’s take a taste to see, what’s see how it tastes, just doesn’t smell like much really, no, but not bad, don’t choke on it.

The beef is still a little bit, not dehydrated or rehydrated other way. It’s not bad, not coughing, cuz, it’s bad and cough because it’s well wrong. Yeah, overall, not a bad meal. I mean I would give it probably a B b-plus get a little more spice in it, but hey it’s just me, but yeah overall, not bad and you’re gonna. Ask me: is it similar to the MRE stuff? We did some MRE chili mac meals? No, it’s not similar to that at all the chili mac MRE stuff in the u s, MREs is like a the sauce is like a real off orange color and there’s not much flavor to it.

This is a lot better. This is a lot more. It’s not as thick, you might say in the MRE ones. The sauce is almost like a gelatin like a dry gelatin and those were in the thermal stabilized packs or not freeze-dried. So you little different a different deal with those. So yeah guys, that’s pretty much. It there’s really no hwacha review on the mountain house ones. I think I said its before is that is this: does have 12 grams of protein, so yeah overall pretty good meal and that’s it so stay tuned.

We will be doing those Hawaiians and those survival rations and hopefully, if USPS gets off there know delivering kick from Russia, we’ll be doing some more Russia stuff right away. That’s it guys, thanks for watching, have a good day.

One of these ever have we now. So we got the chili mac and beef. We’re gonna, be using the MSR pocket rocket, stove right here to heat up our water. So let’s get that started right now. Did you already? You got what 16 ounces of water it requires, which is two cups, looks like this baby.

Getting hot here get not here, so we got the stove going full blast right now. We’re gonna be popping on we’re. Gonna turn this down, so we can put the water balance pretty good right about right. There don’t kick the table so three minutes in we got some boiling water good. You got the stove honey right, yep, okay, so now what you’re gonna do is you’re gonna pour the boiling water in the bag, steer well to mix it all up. One look in there smells good okay and then they say to close it for eight minutes.

Well, I would go a little longer because it really brings out the flavor a lot better. The longer you go quesa, that’s the chili mac with beef and beans. Still a lot of steam coming out of it. Mm-Hmm tastes, good yeah be pretty high blow it you blow it baby blow on it before you eat it. Yeah blow it. Okay, okay, we’re gonna, be trying this one out, mmm excellent, flavor really again, and when we get this one right here, 2014 yeah, so it’s 2017 right now we easily let these go for five years and then we’ll eat them all up, so they do last a long time.

You could go longer than that. I know you can, but we easy this go five years and at home we seal these inside of a home depot 5 gallon bucket with a lid and also, if you really want to get you know, preserve it. Well, you can vacuum seal the whole entire you in itself, yep, which is excellent, because you don’t want to have rodents or mice or rats breaking in your preps yep. So this was the mountain house reveal it’s an excellent one. I highly recommend it thanks for watching you’re watching survival mindset, peace out.

Trip is complete without eating we’re gonna. Try some mountain house freeze-dried food, see what that’s like this is a mountain house. Chili mac with beef is in its own bag. The coleman max little micro burner is 16 ounces of water in here water’s boiling, using this as a lid, a good idea to boil directions you’re supposed to open this okay. This looks great freeze, dried beans and pasta.

We’re gonna get rid of this silica stuff. Don’t want to eat that add the water. This is boiling. Oh, so stork stir thoroughly I can either get gonna, get something stirred go spork! That’s it this side! Now it says close it. Let it stand for eight to nine minutes and then eat see an eight to nine minutes. Just in the mountain house, chili mac with beef, I’ve added the boiling water waited the eight minutes, shake it up a little bit.

Let’s see what it looks like it’s still too hot to eat. Leave it steam coming out of there sit for another minute before it’s pretty good. You, like chili mac, we’ll see if it’s the bomb. Okay, we’re trying to mountain house chili mac bag is a little bags. A little too tall for just eating. With my spork make a better bowl. Oh, hey yourself, turtles crook, here black outdoors today, I’m going to be doing a little bit of a taste test of a meal that I have, which is the mountain house biscuits and gravy, obviously tailored towards of a breakfast type of meal. It’s probably early afternoon now, I had the intention of eating this haven’t eaten anything all day, so really excited to get this in get this in me.

So it’s biscuits and gravy with pork, patty crumbles and Kenny at Mountain. House saw the last video we put up of the chicken noodles I believe asked. If we wanted to try any more of the products they said, yep send them over. So thank you sign is about three different flavors. But you know, mountain house is really simple. I was really pleased with the flavor of the last video I.

Did the chicken and noodle so I have high expectations for this, so we’ll see got my water boiling right now waiting for that to happen. But basically it’s super easy. You boil water, pour it in the pouch seal. It up, wait eight to nine minutes, start and eat. It’s that simple, so I’m going to get my water. Let it boil right now get it to temperature, and you know start to make this because I’m really really hungry right now, so about 10 minutes is past.

So this should be good I’m going to open it up, give it a stir and see how it tastes. That’s nice and thick I intentionally put a little bit less water in this to keep it thick. I didn’t want it soupy, but I mean I’ll, get a spoonful and show you how that what I’m saying look at that thick, hmm mmm tastes like biscuits and gravy, not too bad at all, I, probably added a little bit more water, but pretty pleased with it.

Um didn’t bring any salt or pepper out with me, doesn’t really need it. Some pepper part would make it a little bit nicer, but there’s a lot of sodium in this hey. Excuse me. This is thick and add some people comment last time. I did a mountain house meal about saying you know the high sodium content and that’s true, but for me the way I’m looking at this is, if you don’t take this backpacking and you’re on the trail hiking miles a day, you’re going to be sweating most likely, depending on the weather, sweating a lot you’re going to be losing salts losing other things, and it’s important to put all these things back into your body.

So if I’m on the trail and I’m using this backpacking I’m sweating I don’t have any problem to sodium content, because I want to put those salts back in me, but nonetheless I’m super happy with this as a nice way to start the day, get a nice hearty meal and my stomach I’m gonna do a lot of activity in the day. I would definitely definitely eat this again for breakfast, even at dinner, you know any meal a day, honestly so really pleased with the meal.

The convenience, the super you know easy, easy cooking. You know time directions all that steps. It’s really simple and once you do finish the actual meal. What you have, then, is a heavy-duty sealable bag, so you could use this for trash. You could potentially cook in it I even Kenny at Mount House said some people even use this as a little wash basin put a little bit of soap water in here and cook your ticket tensile stuff, like that.

So I would probably see myself using this as probably a bag. If I have a lot of foodstuffs, that’s for great because it’s sealable and it’s heavy-duty and it’s you- know easy to carry trash out of the force with me. I’m really hungry I’m going to keep eating this, but I want to finish this video first. So if you have any other experiences without you know freeze-dried food or any great, you know backpacking recipes or things to keep food.

You know a great food, that’s going to last the wild days on the trail. Hello, youtubers Alaska prepper here I mountain house granola with milk and blueberries to compare it against the new manna granola that we had and I’ve heard a lot of good things about this. I’ve never had it before so you’ll get an authentic response or an authentic reaction to the quality, taste and all that stuff. So let’s go ahead and do the prerequisites I’ll call it.

This has two servings and, as you can see, as freeze-dried manola with milk and blueberries and the blueberries in there, I am pretty sure they’re, not d ha they’re, not freeze-dried, I, think they’re dehydrated blueberries in there, but we’re gonna check them out because the dehydrated blueberries when you look at them they’re real small, but the freeze, dried blueberries- are like the actual size of a regular blueberry.

So we’ll see when we open it up, like I, said: I’ve never had this before, and the ingredients in this is granola, which contains oats brown, sugar, coconut and soybean oil. I, don’t like that. It’s got soybean oil, but it is what it is, and wheat germ sesame seen natural, vanilla, flavoring. It’s got nonfat dry, milk.

Oh, it’s got, freeze, dried blueberries, okay and it’s got a dry cream. Let’s see it says this God Tala made to protect flavoring, vanilla, flavor cane sugar, cornstarch, natural and artificial flavors, dextrose, tricalcium, phosphate, phosphate, I. Think that’s also a preservative, and it says here contains milk, soy, wheat and coconut, obviously all right.

So this whole pack takes one half cup of cold water which, as you can see, I already have they’re waiting, and this thing packs 500 calories for a whole pouch. It’s got two servings of 250 calories, apiece we’ve got 16 grams of protein for the whole pouch and it’s pretty carbohydrate rich as well at 37 grams per serving so 74 grams of cord wineries.

So, as far as all the nutritional information goes, it’s got your minimal vitamins. You know about vitamins, you got a see, calcium and iron. Everything here, as far as I can see, is pretty minimal. So you should know that you should have some vitamins in your preps or supplements okay, because most of the foods that we’re gonna store away like rice that doesn’t really have vitamins in it beans.

You know it may have some vitamins, but not many you’re, going to need to prep some supplements. So let’s go ahead and take a look at this and let’s take a look at the directions: real, quick I. Don’t think you have to wait very long, you just all you do is pour your water in there. You stir it so that the milk cannot.

You know, I, guess so that the powdered milk can turn into regular milk and then it’s ready to eat Wow. It’s got a lot of blueberries, that’s what it looks like inside. I’m gonna put it in a bowl, so you can see, but it’s got a whole bunch of blueberries, which tells me why this is so pricey as you as you could probably imagine.

This is a mountain house. Food and I haven’t found one mountain house food yet that wasn’t pricey when you compare the ratio of calories to cents. Okay, so I do believe this is about six or seven dollars and you’re. Looking at 500 calories, so you’re paying a pretty high premium on your calories. However, you all know how, where I stand as far as getting these types of foods I call these the luxury foods of prepping, because before you start buying these, you should have all of your basics taken care of.

Unless you have unlimited means- and if you have unlimited means, then you can buy as many as these as you want, but if you’re of limited means then the only time you should really be buying, these is once you’ve got all your basics taken care of, and you’ve got a good six month, in my opinion, at least six months to one year, supply of storable, long term, storage, food, okay, so there we go.

This is what it looks like you can see. It’s got a whole bunch of blueberries smell it before I put the water in there yeah it’s got a very bland smell to it. I didn’t expect it to really smell. You know like too much you can smell the milk in near the milk powder. So let me go ahead and grab a spoon and then I’m gonna stir that around so like I said it takes a half a cup of cold water stir it around.

Oh, you know I just finished, watching a video from Oak cottage and she was teaching people how to dehydrate bananas and Moe. Just so, as you know, I have a couple of really ripe bananas on my countertop I’m, not gonna, dehydrate them, but I’m gonna eat them with this breakfast here. I want to show them to you. I think these here would be perfect for what you did in your video, so I’m gonna go ahead and chop these up.

We’re not both of them that’d be way too much chop these up and put them on top of this, but first I’m gonna taste this without any of this banana on it and look at that, it turned purple or blue. So there you go it’s all mixed up. I’m gonna go ahead and give it a try, I’m gonna, let it sit for just a second or two or a minute, or so to let that granola soak up a little bit of that water.

Cuz I, don’t really like my granola, really crunchy and then we’ll see what it’s like so in between I just want to. Let you guys know that this weekend, I won’t be posting anything, as you all know, if you’ve been following I’m going fishing this weekend for some halibut and I’m, not sure that, where I’m gonna be there’s gonna be any kind of reception.

So if you guys don’t see anything from me this weekend, it’s because I’m, hopefully caught up on a huge halibut and when I catch one of those guys I am gonna cut it up or I’m gonna make a meal with it and show you guys what it looks like because halibuts are delicious and especially Alaskan. Halibut are really really good, so I’m not sure.

If I’m gonna post a video tomorrow now I probably will post a short video because I do have something to cover tomorrow. But you won’t see anything as far as the twilight zone on Saturday and there won’t be a Q&A. This Sunday as well. Okay and I’ll, be back sometime in the middle of next week and now I’m, not sure if I’ll try to catch those up, because it would be a massive video for me to try to do a Q&A for two weeks in a row, but we’ll see what happens.

So. This is what it looks like after you. Let it soak for a little bit honestly, it doesn’t look. Very it looks kind of nasty, but I haven’t tasted it. Yet it doesn’t look very appealing to the palate, but let’s see what it tastes like, it has so many blueberries. This thing hmm, ladies and gentlemen, as you know, I’m not endorsed by Mao in house.

They don’t pay me or anything like that and I purchased. This mountain house myself this right here I, will definitely be buying more of I’m. Probably gonna buy the number 10 cans, because this is delicious. This is by far as far as a breakfast meal or even a dessert meal. This is a 10:00 to my palate. This right here is a 10 out of 10 as far as a either breakfast or dessert meal goes alright and that’s not considering the cost.

Okay I’m, putting the cost aside, I’m just reading this as far as taste, texture and how easy it was to prepare. This is the easiest mountain house food to prepare. All you do is just put water in it, okay, but this is by far way way better than the new manna granola. That I tried the only difference really between this and the new manna as far as what it has is that this has milk in it and blueberries.

New manna was just full of nuts and granola okay, but this is delicious. This this here could act as a dessert. If you wanted to it’s, not super sweet, but it’s sweet enough to take care of your sweet tooth, but it really is delicious. This is definitely a 10 out of 10 and I highly recommend it. If you have the means or if you’re in that stage of your prepping, where you can afford to get these kinds of foods, I highly I highly recommend it and now, having said that, as always, I will leave a link to this, but don’t think that I’m only leaving the link or don’t think that I’m only saying that this is delicious.

You know freeze-dried food that I’ve had so. A review on house for NOLA, with blueberries of all the boo, bear oh yeah, with Milton blueberries this one’s a little different. This one is you over the package and then you add a half cup of cold water. Usually everything is like warm water, let’s just add cold water, because it’s like granola and Millican blueberries needs to be cold, and then you just stir to just wet the ingredients, kind of rehydrate, my second and then enjoy.

That’s it super easy. Okay want to try some bad! That’s what it looks like lots of do, very goodness: I’ll get the first bite, I’m, very good I, don’t think you’ll eat this honey, but we can try mmm, that’s very, very good tastes like like cereal. Oh, oh, oh, okay, I’m trying it’s just a really big bite, okay, but you doesn’t like a lot of sauces and things, and this is kind of saucy a little bit again.

I’m separated separated, Snow Peak I had ms are set up. We’ve got to get to snow peak. It all fits together once setting bowling up some water, four ounces of water, granola, milk and blueberries. We’re going to do hot, just make it hot gives it a nice hearty effect. Don’t drop the blueberries. Oh yeah, yum yum! You eat them up. Okay, give it the taste test: Rock milk, powdered milk, blueberries for Noah, so bad, no, better off! Is it as good as that bananas and go? Oh really.

They were just here when I ran around and they were out they just let him run through these tire forests in these mountains and they just go off and looking for Coons and that’s what it was. They came check this out, scared, the out of us and then and then they just disappeared, played in the water and left. But that was a interesting and then later on, there was a couple of hundreds. They must have been tracking a couple hours later. There’s a road up here: old logging, road or mine, road, whatever came up and they knew we were here, but we were sleeping at that point.

Hi I’m Brad, with big family homestead of the mountain house, scrambled eggs with bacon freeze-dried long term food solutions. So let’s get to it. Okay, so we know the value in keeping some shelf stable food on hand at all times, whether you know there might be a natural disaster nearby or snow emergency or whether you just want to keep some food in your storehouse for the what ifs of life.

So that’s why I’m checking out these mountain house products and I’ve been going through backpackers pantry and finding the different ones that are out there so today, we’re gonna do a little review, we’re gonna cook this stuff up and we’re gonna go ahead and see what it’s like and I will make a recommendation based on what I honestly and truthfully think.

So here we go. First of all, let’s take a look at the ingredients: okay, just upon first inspection. It just says here: freeze-dried precooked, scrambled eggs. We’ve got whole eggs, egg, yolk, nonfat, dry, milk, modifying corn starch. Oh, that could be nasty there. Corn oil, salt yeast extract uh-oh, that’s msg, sunflower oil smoked flavor, and then they have freeze-dried bacon and down at the bottom, it says contains eggs and milk.

Okay. Well, that’s enlightening so with a name like scrambled eggs and bacon. I would at least hope that they would have eggs in the product, so mom house Wow one thing, though it does have MSG in it, not good for your body. That’s the kind of thing that you know: you’re gonna look past, if obviously you’re in a survival situation or or or whatever, if you’re having them to use this as a matter of necessity, you’re, probably not gonna, be too picky about every little thing that goes in there, but this is definitely not good for a normal.

Day-To-Day food supply kind of thing for you because of the MSG, is flat out and not good for you. Let’s go ahead and open this bad boy up and cook it up and see. We got the instructions. Pretty much say that you open this up. You take out your oxygen absorber. You’d, carefully. Add one cup of boiling water: you stir it up seal it back up and then you wait five to six minutes drain off any excess liquid and then you will be in dining and delightful heaven.

So here we go opening it up and looking for the oxygen absorber there, it is get rid of that. Don’t eat it! Look at the delightfulness! Oh my gosh, mmm kinda looks like really really really big Captain Crunch. Well, there we go so in goes the cup of boiling water. There we go now we’re gonna stir it up as it is asking for, stir, stir stir there. We go we’re gonna seal this guy up as per the request, and now we will wait 5 to 6 minutes.

Just side note right now, though, the bacon smells pretty good. So there you go. I know you can’t smell that. But if you could, you would agree with me thinking it smells good okay, so we’ve waited our six minutes. The bag is still very, very hot. At whoo yeah we’re gonna need to drain that water, like they say, okay, so when ran into a slightly potential whatever I.

Don’t know what you want to call it. I drained off the water from the bag, but there was a ton of water and so I actually even went to the extent of using a strainer to get more of the water off and, as you can see here, there’s still lots of liquid on there. But this is after I actually used a strainer and in the instructions they say, hey, you can even eat it right in the bag and all that and after I’m, looking at this I’m kind of wondering no longer why they said, eat it in the bag.

You don’t look at it, but okay, here we go we’re gonna eat some of this and see what it’s like. Alright. So here we go mountain house eggs with bacon, okay, I’m, real gritty. The flavors are bad, surprisingly, not bad flavor. This is just straight out of the bag, though I’m gonna go ahead and get some hot sauce. Yes and some salt be right back round two salt and a little bit of Frank’s Red Hot crime.

Now that is edible, the bacon is still a little crunchy and the texture, the eggs, are still a little weird but solidly edible. Alright, so the mountain house, scrambled eggs with bacon, freeze-dried food, long-term storage, solution, kind of thing- and here it is- this- is my opinion, its food. Is it the greatest thing ever? No, but if you’re, hungry and you’re, in a situation where you know food is scarce, you’re gonna be happy to get it.

If you’re a backpacker or somebody likes to go camping, it’s nice and light very convenient. You can cook it straight in its own bag. You just need some hot water and a little bit of time and I found that you know a little bit of seasoning and some little salt and I like Franks red hot sauce, so I put that in there and it actually made it bearable.

That said, the texture of the eggs is weird, but if you’re hungry you’re gonna eat it, a B I mean it’s long term. Food storage. It’s gonna last a long time on your shelf, so the trade-off is definitely there. So I would the only thing I can knock it on to B. To be honest, is the MSG that you there’s no reason to have the MSG in the food? So it’s definitely not something for a day to day thing, but for long-term food storage, camping stuff that you can just set on your shelf and forget about it and come back in two years from now.

It’s still great, then then. That’s definitely a use. I would think that this mountain house, scrambled eggs and bacon would be good for now. That said, what I’m gonna I’m a Justin for everything? There is one other slight negative. This thing was six bucks and that’s that the big wall world store right. That seems a lot to me for what you get. It was not a massive amount of serving and I guess, you’re paying for the convenience or you’re paying for the freeze drying process, even still, though I mean eggs and little fake bacon pieces or whatever that was it.

You know it seems like a lot of money now considering the MSG, considering the cost and then the weird texture I’ve got to go with a seven out of ten in terms of food storage. Now, just keep that in mind. This is a food storage rating because I mean are you gonna sit down and eat that over fresh eggs and bacon? No, so you can’t compare that. You can’t compare it to regular food that you’re gonna cook up fresh.

This is this is of the storage on the Shelf long-term mentality. That said, I’m going seven out of ten because believe me well, if you had MREs, they are, they can be challenging at times. Okay, and I got my mountain house ice cream sandwich all right, hello, everybody and welcome back today we’re going to review the mountain house adventure meal ice cream sandwich. Now, I’m a big connoisseur of the ice cream sandwich. So I am excited to see what this is going to taste like what this is going to look like the textures.

I am really excited to check out the mountain house. Ice cream sandwich come on. Let’s check it out. My mountain house. Ice cream sandwich is vanilla, vanilla, flavored, ice cream between two chocolatey cookie wafers. Okay, let’s read the back. It says yes, this is a real ice cream sandwich with real vanilla ice cream between two delicious cookie wafers.

You’ll, be astonished by the taste I’ll, be the judge of that. Okay, I can’t wait any longer. Let’s open it up and take a look all right. That’s pretty awesome a little bit of flakes left in the bag, but yeah, that’s pretty cool, isn’t it I mean how they try to replicate the wrapper on a real ice cream sandwich. I’m pretty cool, let’s open it up and take a look bummer.

Do you see it? It’s a little bit broken, not a broken ice cream sandwich. Okay, let’s check out to see what it looks like on top all right: it does. It looks like an actual ice cream sandwich, but let’s compare it to the picture. Something just doesn’t seem right. Oh yeah, my ice cream sandwich is broken. Okay, all jokes aside, I noticed when I touched this mountain house ice cream sandwich that yeah, it’s very sticky to the touch, so it would be good to have a wet napkin handy.

So this is what it looks like. Let’s just pick it up. So that’s exactly what it looks like right there, let’s get it in there. There we go. It’s focused, so I mean okay, let’s dig in and take a bite wow! Nothing like I expected. I thought it would be more like an astronaut ice cream and uh tastes more like that. This is a tad bit sticky, but it’s delicious.

It actually tastes like an ice cream sandwich just not cold and creamy. Just a crunchy ice cream sandwich. It’s pretty delicious and pretty cool too so on a scale of one to ten. What would I rate this? A seven? I rate this a seven and another good job mountain house, adventure, meals on your ice cream sandwich. I give that a thumbs up.

So if you want your own mountain house, ice cream sandwich head on down to walmart in the camping section and look on the shelf, you’ll see an ice cream sandwich sitting there. Just for you, you.

Bring it to another awesome food review. What we’re looking at is this mountain house granola with milk and blueberries the nutritional facts will be below. We don’t want to bore you with those. So what we’re gonna do is basically give you our opinion of how good it is. Let’s dive in bounces, the granola calls for half a cup of water. Unique thing about this mountain house compared to others is, it does not require hot water, so you can actually use a cold water, so we’re shaking this up a little bit.

We stirred it up and I would say: that’s probably pretty good. Go ahead. James we’re all gonna, try this and distribute it out evenly as possible I’m trying to get some granola. So on first glance it is a very interesting color because the blueberries have actually made the entire all the milk turn blue, which makes it quite interesting. I wish there was more granola I feel like there’s a lot of milk there’s a lot of liquid.

So what we’re gonna see, how it tastes, tastes like cold granola, milk, yeah I mean I’m, a huge mountain house fan and tried a couple other things now and I’m, usually pretty happy I, don’t know if it’s like cereal, where you have to find that sweet spot of where it’s too crunchy to where you know, then it gets too soggy. You have to find that part where it’s all soaked in, but to me it seems really watery.

So if you take a look at that bite, I tried to drain some of the liquid out, so you can see the blueberries and the granola um I, don’t know for me. It feels kind of it seems kind of chalky in a way. I don’t know might be that powdered milk yeah, the texture is kind of weird for me, see that labor is good. I, honestly, like it I’m used to bringing in powdered milk on the trail, so I think that’s probably what’s mostly tripping you guys up.

Is the powdered milk I’m used to bringing that I normally bring in granola and powdered milk anyway, yeah I mean I. Think it’s just though it’s not the flavor I, like the flavor tastes. Fine, it’s just the consistency that super watery like I mean I, do like that. It has a lot of blueberries. I mean every the blueberry tastes, good yeah look, there’s been whenever I separate out the blueberries in the granola and drain the liquid.

It’s actually quite good, yeah yeah! That’s my thing too, like when you drain it out, and you have just your granola and your blueberries. It’s not bad! So I put this one kind of firmly in the middle I, wouldn’t give it a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. I feel like for the price that you pay for a mountain house. This just isn’t worth it. Yeah I could easily go and get some granola powdered milk for probably half the price, but it does taste good in my opinion.

So that’s why I’m giving it the the middle thumb honestly I’m gonna, give it a thumbs down. Lay like saya was saying you know for the price you pay for a mountain house. It just doesn’t seem worth it. You can get some granola, even some raisins that are gonna. You know they’re gonna, last better on the trail and everything and some powdered, milk and and you’re gonna have a better product. It tastes, okay, I, just I think there are a lot better mountain houses out there, it’s nice, because it’s quick, you just throw some water in it.

You don’t have to boil it or anything, but it’s not worth it to me all right. So this one for me gets a thumbs down. You know: I, wasn’t overly excited by the texture of the food along with you know, looking at the price point for granola, you know you can get a huge pack of 12 instant granolas, for you know a buck or two. You could buy four boxes of those for the same price and how much was this just this was four dollars and fifty cents on Amazon so which is about the same price.

You’ll pay at Walmart RDI any other retailer for this specific mountain house and honestly, it’s not worth the price if you just grab something in a pinch, that’s great, but overall, no well inside! You could, probably you know, you’ve done this more, but you could probably buy all the stuff to have this for breakfast every day on a multi-day trip for less than what you would pay just for this one pack, oh yeah, definitely I mean you can get a whole box of granola for 450, like normal size, cereal box, so overall I mean, while we are fans of the mountain house brand and some of the products that they have.

We think this one is just a Miss. We definitely would not recommend this one to take out on the trail with you, thanks for watching everybody. Everybody Travis in Mud, Creek calm, want to do a quick review of one of my other favorite desserts here. Austin is probably my favorite I love these from mountain house. As far as something to throw in your food storage, these come in cases of 12 or you can just buy them individually as well from us. You know it’s probably worth it just to buy them the case to make it worth the value, because that you know they look like they’re decent size, but really it’s just a small Ice Cream Sandwich in there.

So this is the mountain house: Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s freeze-dried and almost like one of those astronaut ice cream type of thing. Almost just give you real quick here: dimensions about 5 inches by 8 and a half to 9 inches, and it’s only about an inch wide I throw this little cup there just kind of all rub, so you can see it so ignore that. So this is a single serving dessert.

It’s going to be one for one person and see if I’m going to show you I’ll just pull up here and show you a bit. Hopefully, you can read that a little bit getting focus here, but it’s 170 calories, one serving per pouch 60 calories from fat, total fat, 7, 7 grams or 7 calories. Excuse me, 7, saturated fats, 3 grams, sotol, fat 7 carbohydrates is 26 grams, 14 3 grams.

Obviously this is more for just eating. Essentially, all I’ve done is taken an Ice Cream Sandwich, so the actual ice cream bit. So you understand, is just that part. So you know if there’s one con or one thing I don’t like about there’s, definitely a lot of packaging for what you get. If you’re you know an ultralight, backpacker or trying to conserve conserve on weight that might bug you a little bit.

They don’t weigh a whole lot they’re. Only at one point one: three ounces. So one point 13 ounces: that’s not that not that bad or 32 grams. So it’s not like it’s that big a deal anyway. If I were going on a big trip and taking these with me and we’re, you know, I’m going to eat them fairly quickly. I’d, probably just open them up and throw a bunch in and like a combine them up into like a ziploc bag or something so that is what you get inside these it’s essentially just like an Ice Cream Sandwich you’d buy at the store and they’ve taken it and freeze-dried it.

So it literally is an Ice Cream Sandwich. You know they’re they’re, already kind of open, usually when you open them up make that way, so it tears open real easily every once while to be broken a little bit this one’s, not too bad. So that’s it literally. It’s an Ice, Cream Sandwich since dehydrated. What I typically do is just break off some chunks if you’re walking around long a snack, not hunter or whatever.

This is kind of fun. Kids, like my kids, really enjoy these. They think they’re fun I enjoy them, even even when I’m, not out in the woods or anything or food storage, sometimes we’re just kind of a fun little snack, something different, so tear a partner, and you can kind of see you know it’s got like a somewhat of a chalky look to it, but it doesn’t taste chalky.

It’s not. It goes down very creamy. We give you a bite here, kind of falls apart a little bit, but the actual cream part ice cream part is real. Creamy goes down real. Well, you know in the cookie part that it tastes about just like wood before they freeze dried it. So you know it’s. Actually. The cookie part is pretty flavorful. So I like these I, think they’re a lot of fun.

If you haven’t had them and you just want to try it sometime, they’re, honestly kind of cool and it’s worth giving a shot, just have to try it out sometime and see what you think bet tab I, like my definitely throwing my pouch I, think to buy, make worth it’s worth buying. You know multiples at a time. You know if you’re not sure go buy it I mean on our website you’re more welcome to buy one if you want or, however many like, but you know it’s a great little snack and- and you know, they’re pretty filling.

Actually they just kind of take that edge off after you’ve been hiking for a while or or you know after dinner, and you just need a little bit more I really like these. So I I think you can’t go wrong with my highly recommend them. They taste really good to me. I have no complaints about them likes it. The only con or the only disadvantage, I’d say, is obviously the size a little bit but other than that they’re great, so I definitely throw these in my food storage or a backpacker or for hunting and whatnot.

Hey everybody Travis here, Mud Creek com. Today we’re going to rock the lasagna with meat sauce from mountain house. This is their regular size pouch, which is 2 5 servings, just double check that make sure I’m not lying -, yep 2, 5 servings. This one honestly is probably one of my all-time favorites. It’s not really like what you would think of is lasagna, but I love it. It’s not I mean it’s more of a pasta, really the taste like lasagna, but I’m a huge fan of it.

This one. You know this is probably one of my go-to ones as far as, if I’m throwing it in, like my hunting pack or going backpacking, this one’s pretty much always included so I love this one. Let me give you some details about it. It’s four point, eight ounces, so that gives you an idea of what the pack weight is going to be. Let me give you the dimensions, real, quick. This is nine and a half by just about eight and then it’s probably flip it over a little easier to tell from the bottom it’s about two inches.

Really. If you smash this down- and you can you can smash these down a little bit, maybe shake some of that, distribute it. Sometimes it’s not bad to leave them a little off centered like that or a little offset, because then what you do is you can stack the other one, the opposite direction this way and they stack in your pack pretty well like I said this is one of my favorites. It’s got 14 grams of protein. Let me just give you a give you the nutritional facts, real quick here, so you can see them there.

If you want, you can pause this and you can look at them a little bit more thoroughly, we’re just going to briefly go over it. So it’s 2, 5 servings, it’s 240 calories per serving proteins, 14 grams, cholesterol, 30 milligrams, whole fat, eight grams, carbohydrates, 27 grams. So that’s some of it. If you want to read the ingredients you can read through that, like it says down, there does contain wheat, egg, milk and soy. So if that’s something you’re allergic to something to pay attention to, but I’m a huge fan of the mountain house products just in general, they’re real easy to make that’s one of the things I love about them, especially if you can throw it in your backpack or like for hunting.

You know if you have like a kit like this is something that packs up nice little kit and that there’s a smaller fuel tank that fits inside there, and so it’s a small little pack and I have water. I can boil it right up and cook it. So all you’re going to do with this will open it up and do this, but you’ll take the oxygen absorber out and then you’ll carefully add two cups of boiling water. So we’ll have to get water boiling in this and then we’ll go ahead and add that to it we’ll let it stand for eight to nine minutes.

That’s pretty much! Yet it’s it’s worth stirring, not pretty good in the beginning, just to get it all mixed up. But if you don’t it’s really not that big a deal you might just get some. You know a little less consistency in the flavor, because some of the seasoning and whatnot will you know, maybe not be distributed as well, but it’s not that big a deal. So let’s go ahead and crack this baby open and let’s see what we’ve got here like I said this is probably my favorite one top three for sure.

I, like it you’re picking to hear me, say that a lot I’m really honestly and I’m not just saying this because we sell this stuff but I’m, really a huge fan of the mountain house, stuff, I, think just in general and what you get and how easy it is to make I’m a fan. So that’s your oxygen absorber make sure you take that out. I have I left that in before I you know, I, don’t know if the killer, you probably wouldn’t want to be exposed to it too much, but just remember to take that out, throw it away and get rid of it.

So let’s go ahead and look and see what it is you can see. It’s got quite a bit of seasoning in there and then that’s going to you know, as you have the hot water it’s going to become sauce. So let’s go ahead and get this going here and we’ll get it ready. So we’re going to go ahead and boil two cups. Just make sure I read that right: yep, two cups of water or 16 ounces of water in our pot here and I’m, going to go ahead and put a towel down. I tend to make a mess when the water gets boiling here, so we’re going to go ahead and lay that down just to mitigate some of that, so we’ll go ahead and get the water going first and then dump that in you can see that, but all right so two cups of water on this particular pot- and this is a nice thing about something like this.

This is the optimists crux light. If anybody’s curious, it’s a nice little kit, the fuels not included, but everything else is included. If you get the kit that has the has a little pot and lid- and you know with it so- and we do sell this, it’s a great little kit, I really enjoy it. So, okay, let’s get this fired up here, we’ll get our fuel going, hopefully I’m, not out. If you won’t probably get close so we’ll get our fuel going, get a pot on there. I’m go ahead and put the lid on that will help boil it quicker also help from splash and everywhere.

So we’ll go ahead and get that going and as soon as that’s ready, we’ll come back here and show you what what everything looks like okay, so our water is literally about done. You’ll hear it really start to sound like it’s boiling, just a second we’re starting to get a little bit of a roll now I, don’t know if you technically need to boil I, always think it’s a good idea just in case or you know, I, don’t know that there could be anything growing in there, but you just never know I always like to throw boiling water into it.

But you know just because if there is some bacteria for some reason, that would kill it, but there shouldn’t be any issue. The cool thing about mountain house is, they have a ten-year shelf life. It used to be seven years recently extended it to ten years and what they say is they’ve actually tried them that are 30 years old and the only thing you’ll really notice there shouldn’t be any like bacteria problems. The only thing you’d really notice is a little bit, maybe a little less flavor.

It just may lose some of its potency in that sense, but they’re not it should be good. The cans, if you buy it in a can the number 10 cans which you can use for food storage, and you can also use these for food storage. We sell by the pouch, but if you decide to do a can, instead, for example, they have a 30 year shelf life, all right looks like we are boiling, so I’m going to go ahead and shut that off and but yeah anyway. So you can. You know you can get different shelf lives for these things.

As far as, if you want the 10 number 10 can, if you want to do more of a food storage approach or these, which is technically 10 years, but they just say, you’ll lose some of the flavors all, but so in reality that can probably last up to 30 years. It’s just kind up to you and your preference I would probably trust it. That’s just me so, but it’s probably good practice to boil the water. If you didn’t it’s probably not the end of you know that big a deal, especially you know as long as it’s not past that 10 year point shouldn’t be an issue but I like to boil it just because you know it obviously adds more flavor.

It’s going to have it’s going to help soak through a little quicker and that rehydrate a little bit quicker so that you can enjoy a little faster. So, okay, let’s go ahead and dump the sim and then I’ll stir it up and show you kind of what looks like with everything stirred up just dry that off a Titch. Sometimes you got to watch these handles. You know they get a little hot, even though they got a little rubber coat coating on so we’re gonna go ahead and dump that in just watch your hands.

You don’t like that. I just dumped it on my finger. It’s not too bad, though, but you know get all that in there and I. Don’t know that it’s imperative that you seal it right away. You know what I like to do. You can kind of see what it looks like there with some water, and you can see some that going on, but I like to just stir it up a little bit a lot of times it mount in the field. I, don’t even have a spoon on me and you can literally almost drink it if you want to do a little more water, if you want to do a little less water, that’s cool too! Not a big deal so mix that up real good and I’ll.

Show you what it looks like again here. Just make sure I don’t spill and that’s kind of looks like right there, so we’ll seal that up and let it sit for just double-check. I wanna saves 810 Nancy and you know that’s variable. It’s kind of if you’ve got some experience with these and you know what you like, don’t change it. You know. Eight to nine minutes is recommended time, but if you, if you know hey I like it a little harder, let it go five minutes or whatever you know.

If you want to go twenty minutes, you brother said 20 minutes, that’s not a big deal so we’ll let that sit. The other thing you can do is you can grab it? You just gotta, be careful cuz, it’s usually pretty hot, but you can kind of mix it up like this. Just by squeezing the bag like I said, that’s pretty hot I can only do that for a few seconds before it gets a little too hot. For me, we’ll come check this out here in a minute and we’ll give you a you know the best video taste test that I can and try to describe it to.

You is the best I can like said, you know, I’m a little biased towards this flavor, just because I already love it. So that’s just me you may not, if you’re not into like red sauces and things like that, which normally honestly I’m not not a huge spaghetti guy but I’ve really liked the lasagna so we’ll come check it out here in eight to nine minutes all right, we’ve, let that sit for about eight to nine minutes, so we’re going to go ahead and pop it open and see what see.

We’ve got go ahead and what we’ll do is wound up, putting it. That’s the spoon adjuster with earlier, but we’ll go ahead and dump it into a bowl. So you can see what it looks like in a bowl, but I’ll show you in the bag real quick. So you know some of that water that was in there earlier is definitely set up a little bit now, like I said you know the thing with like the mountain house meals is, they may not look pretty, but you know for what you get and what they are and especially to be able to get that quick meal.

I. Think they’re, really good I haven’t really had one that I didn’t like that much you know, there’s some I, definitely like better than others and like so. This is one of my top fades or favorites of all time. So far you know I know they’ve got some new flavors coming out in here in 2014, from what I’ve heard and talking to them, but we’ll see so. Ok I’ll give this a try. You can see it’s pretty hot. You know, there’s a Maxwell just to show there’s you know a little bits of tomato chunk in there I’m, not honestly, there’s one right.

There I’m, not honestly, a very big tomato guy, but I don’t mind these they’re small enough that they don’t bug me and and I don’t mind them. So they says not really as much a true pasta or a true lasagna of what you’d think you know it’s not like a chunk of lasagna, it’s more of a actual pasta. So you have the noodles here. If you hear my boy in the background he’s hanging out with me, my little guy so yeah, you got these noodles right here and you know that’s it so they’re similar to the noodles you’d get and regular is on yet, but you know maybe a little different.

So that’s cool a little bit see if I can do this without burning myself, all right, give it a try. Okay, that’s actually like I said it’s really good um and it’s actually got cheese in it. So one thing: you’ll notice is you’re, taking a bite, it’ll kind of be a little stringy cuz. It’s just got melted cheese in it, which is really good. That’s a my little guy but anyway, so here’s the pasta, I like it it you know it’s not really spaghetti. Ii I, don’t know! If that’s even a word bit.

It’s a you know: it’s it’s red sauce, a little bit almost like that. You know it’s probably almost a consistent depending how much water you put it’s almost like a chili as far as the consistency goes, but it’s not spicy at all. You know it’s it’s well, at least not in the sense of like chili or anything like that in the sense of Italian red sauce, lasagna, maybe a little bit. But to me it’s not spicy at all, so I really enjoy it. Like I said this is probably my favorite one, especially like out in the cold.

When I’ve been out. You know, I went out shooting oh about a month ago, and it was freezing cold and you know we were duck hunting and it was about 16 below and I pulled out, stove fire a couple years out for me and my buddy, and they were just really good and it just hit the spot because it just warmed me up and that you know I just really enjoyed it, gave me the calories I needed to to keep going and stay outside. We ended up staying out quite a bit longer. So I don’t think you can go wrong with these I enjoy it.

You know it’s up to you to decide that if you like it or not- and if you don’t think you do if it’s you know possibility that just red sauces, don’t do it for you, and that may be the case and I understand that. But you know if you’re open-minded, give it a try and I, don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I really like it so come check us out at mock recom. Urban Survival back with another mountain house review. Today we got freeze-dried lasagna with meat sauce yeah, it’s another another mountain house, as always Mountain House with their servings. Today we got two and a half servings I never had this before, but I’m sure, because they always got the servings wrong that this is probably enough for maybe one half people half person assuming a child, a kid there’s no way.

This is serving two people, two adults and one kid they always have. The servings marked as it feeds more I, don’t know really wish they would straighten that out. I also like to know what is so funny every mountain house package everybody’s sitting around a camp laughing like to know what the big joke is. There anyhow freeze-dried lasagna with all freeze-dried Mountain, House meals, they’re good for 25 years, so we got a date 2047.

So with that kind of storage date, you know basic good, forever, they’re, perfect, perfect to keep on hand, for you know, survival situation or whatever you know, obviously the made for not really made for emergency food they’re made for camping, backpack and whatever. If I never mentioned it before in a previous video, I will mention now they have a really high salt content, some way more than others.

You know for flavor, but if your backpack and a hiking camping rather- and you know, expended a lot of energy, you need to replace the salt you’re, probably sweating all day in a survival situation, be it whatever flood or tornado you’re stuck home after disaster and you’re. Just laying around I expended a lot of energy drink a lot of water with these they’re.

Just you know a lot of salt in them. Anyway, let’s get her open, see little tab. There is the zippers I want to try to pull straight across well, well, see I, don’t want to ruin the zipper I’m gonna actually turn it around now go to the other other side and go across almost almost it’s a zipper. Alright, let’s go ahead and take a look so see on that side.

There’s a cheese chunks of beef. It’s actually real beef, not like a soy crumble, it’s actually real meat and the noodles, and now we see chunks of sauce up, see, see it in there somewhere. I. Take this guy out. Do not eat we’ll discard that we don’t need that. Now. If you go ahead and forget to take that out, it’s perfectly safe, they say you could add the water prepare it and if you’re eating you find it later, just take it out and discard it, then the food’s totally safe.

So let’s go ahead, I’m, adding a little bit less. Like always, it calls for two cups of water, just a tad tiny bit less we’re gonna add in here just because they always call for more and ends a blue watery. So let’s go ahead. Stir that up sure you stir it up really well get all the way down to the bottom. The corners stare that up really good. Oh, it actually smells good.

Huh smells good already. Wow smells pretty good. I think this is gonna, be a tasty one. It could be wrong, but it smells like it’s gonna be good anyway. Alright 9 minutes. So, let’s try to close the Rope put out burning myself. Well, steam come now. Alright, nine minutes, gonna, give it a stir. Probably halfway through I, usually do and then we’ll take a look and see what we got alright.

So it’s been about in about four minutes. It looks like just go ahead, give it another pretty good! Oh, this is hot down here. It was another good stir and we’ll leave it for the remaining about five minutes, so get it a little close back up and let’s keep waiting alright. So it’s been about nine minutes. Let’s uh I can’t even get it open here. Let’s open it up, see what we got give it a stir: yeah put a little less water is good.

It came out perfect, not watery at all, and this is what you see. Probably not. This is smoking. Hot I mean steaming. So now, if you out in the cold in a colder climate, you could wrap something around it. You know wrap a blanket. A towel is sure to Jackson around it to insulate it. So it’s nice and hot. When you go to eat it. Alright, let’s take a better look at this here: let’s take a better look: let’s get this out onto a plate, nice! No! No! Once again! Well, they said two and a half servings.

Let’s spin it around here, figure, yeah, I, don’t know what you guys. Let me know in the comments what you think, but I don’t know, definitely not two and a half for an adult two and a half two adults and a kid I, don’t even think so, I mean unless you eaten something else with it. Then you know okay. This is like a side, but just on its own just see this will not feed I, don’t think it’ll feed two people so anyway, let’s check it out.

Whoa I could get it here. Mmm ha well, like I thought how it smelled. That’s how it tastes. It’s pretty good. Pretty good I mean you got the real beef real chunks of beef. That’s not that soy crumble, real dehydrated beef texture is perfect. Now, just like regular, you know beef and a meat, sauce, Oh, Parmesan cheese, taste, a little pepper, the pastas perfect, perfect al dente, not too mushy, not too hard, so mmm.

This is actually good. It’s actually very good. Yeah taste a little garlic, even little garlic. It’s not that salty for a mountain house, Mountain House meal, not that salty at all. How does a perfect amount of salt? You see the cheese see the cheese melt it on the spoon there. Mm-Hmm not bad got chunks of tomatoes, real tomatoes in there, so not bad at all.

I’m gonna go ahead, dig in and finish this up so say: I give this about 8 8 out of 10, definitely 8 out of 10, pretty good one of their better one of their better ones. It’s just a portion, so I don’t know but good to keep on hand survival situation. Definitely they don’t take up a lot of room, throw a couple in the closet and the pantry or whatever, whatever room you got.

You know as for most of the meals, they got it’s comfort food. You know, lasagna with meat sauce, definitely comfort. Hello, everyone welcome back, it’s Kevin with survivalist boards, comm right here, work on the form. Again, it’s lunch well hungry. So today we’re going to be having Mountain House beef stroganoff with noodles freeze-dried 11 grams of protein single servant, calories, 260 counters from fat, 100, sodium 45 milligrams, I mean cholesterol, 45 milligrams, sodium 800 milligrams, vitamin a 4 percent, calcium 8%, vitamin C, 2 iron 6.

We said in a previous video that mountain house recently changed the life expectancy on these meals. They were seven-year, so I was not stockpiling a lot of them. The Mountain House released a update, released uh update to these pouches that they are now 30-year life expectancy. So, instead of just buying a whole bunch of them start piling them various ones going through buying a few of them taste, testing and then I’m gonna start pile the ones.

Let’s not take that water long boil at all, just turn it off hope it doesn’t spill. Trust Joe, take the oxygen killer out of there. That’s what it looks like on the inside and that water burning myself all right there we go, never gonna seal it up. I have one guy tell me you shouldn’t want to take and turn it upside down, holding it even steel, Mountain House says just to stir it I’m just gonna.

Take it kind of smashing around a little bit there. Let that sit for a few minutes. I’m gonna have some lunch in a little over ten minutes. Let’s take a look see this creamy, it didn’t say some of these mountain house packets. They say to add so many ounces, I carefully, add 3/4 cup boiling water. Well, the one of the what was it the sweet and sour pork with rice. It said: six ounces of water, 3/4 cup /, 6 ounces of water I, put between about 7, almost 8 ounces of water.

They say that I like to cut just a little bit more water in here, sometimes I’ve noticed that if I put the exact amount, these turned out a little bit dry, all right. So let’s do it. Let’s eat. Let’s have some lunch, see how it tastes. So, while we’re eating lunch, what would you like to talk about I’m? Just second, not bad, not bad at all. They can use a little bit more water set some sauce, not bad at all, think we could use to a bit more water.

Thank you, 3/4 about 7 ounces, or so so almost 80 ounces I wouldn’t bring that up on the next one. Mmm I like this a lot better, not better and sweet and sour pork with it. Yesterday, mm-hmm you ever get those beans, stroganoff packets, Eric, Walmart, big-box, Mart or wherever I would compare it. To that pace is a beef. Some of them are bigger than the head up on the racial. Almost look, some of them almost look like sliced mushrooms mm-hmm, even though it’s about 800 milligrams of sodium there’s, no overbearing, sodium taste, there’s no everbearing salt taste sometimes he’s just not mount house with somebody.

Some some foods, you just really taste the sodium in them. This isn’t like that. He doesn’t like that at all. No creaminess for the sauce I say just right. It’s just right the sweet and sour pork. We did yesterday and day before anyway, sweet and sour pork that we did previously um sweet and sour taste. It was just very bland. This is not like that Oh ma’am! This is good, it’s good, so well, but y’all I talked about talk about something, so here go down them.

Jasper going out of Walmart people are still buying 22 long-rifle staying sold out all the time saying they can’t hard to get it in get just a few shipments here and there I’m wondering why go down to Academy the Intermountain Beaumont Academy a-looking got stacks of 22 long-rifle, and so as Walmart kind of I mean so what what’s the deal? Why can’t Walmart get 22 long rifle in keep it in stock whenever the company is like Gander, Mountain and Best Buy cam? This is pretty good.

I’ll say this: even this even compares shooting back I like it I mean it’s that just that good right. So what else is going on? I don’t want to talk about politics. It’s not published at school in the world having a log splitter changes everything I’m cutting down these trees, cleaning underbrush. This is a small pin oak base, others prob about six inches across or so been able to cut that tree down, and these I’m cutting in Leith.

For my barbecue pit, my smoker cut them 18 inches long I know some people say Kevin you’re supposed to cut the power wood two foot long, but two foot doesn’t work real good at my smoker. You want to be able to sit the stack, the pieces of wood sideways in long ways, so I could have looks good for working for my smoker and so being able to cut an oak tree down cut it up, even when these small ones cut it up then use the log splitter to cut it to split it, take it over the shed and store it and totally changes the whole changes.

The whole game so really forgot. My napkin really we’re prepping in like a couple of different ways. Here, stop piling firewood in clearing out for the new fence for goats, sheep, maybe a couple of cattle if you’re thinking about getting in the second local feed stores, let’s start getting their chicks in here pretty soon so from 3 feet. Where I do most of my business in Jasper, that’s not a paid advertisement, guys I, just like doing business with them real friendly, Tommy and Tommy.

They should be getting some chips in next week. My fiance and I won’t either some white leghorns or some ideal 236. So mister there got some coming in week after next had them reserve six of them for us also latest master warps. Maybe some bored rocks wrote on reds by about a dozen or so but anyway, guys I, guess, that’s it for now, I, really like the brief – beef stroganoff that assistance, but 3/4 a cup of water in it I put almost 8 ounces.

I would have put just a little bit more water in them just a little bit more say: good 8 ounces, maybe, but maybe just a little bit more. Maybe it’s just little bit more hot rehydration, all right guys, guys god bless I’ll talk to y’all later.

Just because I’m up here on the top of well and today, it’s chicken and dumplings, what’s happening: pantanesha peterborne, panda here, mountain house, freeze-dried foods, they’re so easy to make delicious foods that you can make with just hot water. Now I picked this up. It’s the chicken and dumplings freeze, dried and it comes in this pouch here, and this actually is two servings. So if I had someone else up here trying to survive on the top of the mountain with me, we could both eat it, but I’m gonna have to eat for two.

So you just tear off the top here. The top of the pouch has a ziploc top. So you can reseal this and that’s what it looks like inside. It looks like croutons. Now there is a little oxygen or moisture absorber in here. You do have to pull that sucker out. Just put that in my garbage can to hike out of this wilderness and then what it says on the back here is to carefully add one and a half cups of boiling water. Now I have gone ahead and boiled some water already because I’m getting hungry- and this is very, very hot- and so I’m going to do my best here to just pour this in and not to scald myself, so the water getting all over, but in the dirt now it says to just kind of stir it up.

You want everything to get wet and then we are going to have to let this stand for eight to nine minutes, and I want to give it a good chance of absorbing everything so we’re gonna. Let it stand for nine minutes here, but uh. I can just see still some dry particles in there, so I’m just trying to stir it around to make sure that everything gets a little bit of that hydrating water. Now nine minutes from now we’re gonna see how the chicken and dumplings are all right. Guys. Nine minutes is up and the pouch is cooled off to.

I think a nice edible temperature here, so I’m just going to open it up here. Mmm smells pretty good, that’s a little peek at it. Now I do want to show you what this looks like so we’ll pour this out into a bowl, I’m going to need the spoon to get all of it out still a little bit in there really chunky kind of. Like me, here’s what it looks like wow dude. It smells great. It’s got some peas, carrots in it chunks of chicken right there and oh here’s like the dumpling. It’s like a soft piece of bread.

Oh the thing about this, is it tastes good? It’s also kind of thick warms you up. This is a great great meal for the top of the mountain. Here, it’s easy to make just heat up water. Let it sit. I love mountain house because they have really good quality products and they taste great too. There’s a lot of freeze-dried products out there that are pretty good. But to me, mountain house is always reliably tasty, hey. If you want to pick up the chicken and dumplings by mountain house I’ll put a link to it in the description peter von panda out.

Welcome back to the channel guys review a tv coming in with another survival food video we’ve been showing you guys some mre videos in the past um. If you haven’t seen them check out the description box below I’ll shoot some links in there, so you guys can check those videos out as well. We wanted to show you guys some alternative survival food today. Are you guys prepared? But no are you guys ready to prepare yourself for a food shortage? There’s a possibility. There may be a time where you’re able to not get through to the stores and get food for days.

It could even be weeks or months. Who knows we can never depend on our law enforcement or our governments or anyone to give us actual legitimate information that could steer us through down the right path to be prepared for these types of uh civil unrest or not even necessarily civil unrest, national disasters, things that mother nature could uh take upon us as well. So with that being said, let’s check out some of these food items that we have today and we’ll taste test a bunch of these and suggest some of these items to you guys that you can put together for your own survival.

Food packs, not just mres. So let’s go over a few of these different food items and food accessories, guys that um can be options that you guys may consider when you guys are putting together some survival food for yourselves um. I’ve been browsing around just looking at different things other than the traditional mres showed you guys. A few mres, like I mentioned before, um the videos that we did that had different types of uh food items. This is a ready pack meal. This is one of the homestyle vegetables sauce for noodles and chicken comes with your traditional heater pack.

Um comes with a side item and like a smoothie and then uh, of course, your main meal, but we’re not really focusing on those, because we’re gonna have plenty of videos in the future on particular mres, and we’ve already done one on this. So if you guys haven’t seen that one check it out um today, we wanted to try one of the freeze-dried, uh meals and then put together a few alternative food accessory items. To give you guys the satisfaction in the meal you’re. Looking for um, I’m gonna choose out of the three different ones that I’m displaying today, which is the beef stroganoff with noodles.

This one comes in a savory cream, sauce with mushrooms and onions and uh. Once again, if you look at the expiration date on this, we’re looking at 2050, so that’s a 30-year expiration date, guys um these things last forever, so definitely a recommendation as long as there’s water available. Then you should be able to cook these. If you don’t have canteens or things that you can bring, you can also bring filtration devices to get water from rivers or whatever you would need. If you were trying to eat this and we’re lacking water.

This one is the chicken fried rice. This one comes with green peas, onions, carrots and mushrooms same thing doesn’t expire until november of 2015 uh. The one we’re gonna try today, though, is one that I think would be one of my favorites. This is the beef stew. It comes with hearty gravy, beef, potatoes, carrots and peas. We’re gonna, try that and we’re gonna throw in a different food items, we’ll end with a dessert, uh ice cream sandwich, freeze dried: this is the mint chocolate chip version um these ones.

Also don’t ex this one isn’t quite as long as the actual meal, the freeze, dried ice cream sandwich shows an expiration date of 2022, so these only last a few years, probably because of sugar and other uh ingredients in there uh. I bought this. This is a long life food depot pack of peanut butter and this actually comes in the chunky. This is supposedly a new item. This chunky version of the peanut butter wasn’t always something that was an available item just because it might be possibly harder to get the peanut butter out when you’re trying to squeeze it with chunks, but I myself would agree to disagree.

So here’s how it comes comes with lots of little packets and I can feel it. It feels really really fresh. This is what it’s looking like. Uh total calories is 160 13 grams of fat um and inside these variety packs you guys can see it just comes with a large amount of just tons of chunky, peanut butter. So these are cool to order guys to keep on the side. So you can take freeze-dried food if you’re not feeling the mre, sometimes the the repetitive taste of an mre, all taste the same um. It depends.

You know you get into some of the higher dollar mres and you can get some more of the competitive items in there. But when you’re buying bulk and you’re buying around the 70 to 80 range mres, they typically have a lot of meals that, although are different taste the same, so these are good alternatives if you’re tired of the mre scene- and you want to be able to just have some different stuff. These are all different things that are currently available. As far as the breads go guys um, they come in boxes of 12, there’s just all kinds of different flavors.

I got marble pound cake um. Let’s see that’s another! Marble- and I don’t have them all here- that’s another marble. We got the lemon poppy uh lemon poppy, uh, vanilla, pound cake, there’s just a bunch of different ones. I just packed a few of the same: didn’t really put it in any particular order, but guys keeping all these extra pound, cakes and things around uh really make a good mixture for your meal. So now look we’ve uh. We have something to eat along with the beef stew and pull out the marble pound cake, or we can actually use the crackers and then have that as one of the sides- and you can even put some chunky peanut butter on your marble pound cake, you can down it with an ice cream, freeze, dried sandwich.

So with that being said, let’s look at some of the other items here. We have um things to consider. Teas can take you these little tiny containers. My wife took me over to the home store the other day and we were able to find these cool little uh containers they actually uh work really well and they have clips on them. This is kind of like a feature. I don’t want to show you guys today I like to keep some earl grey myself, guys t um, I like coffee and tea, it’s winter time right now, currently still so we’re trending in the 30s, the 50s, depending on the uh weather surrounding us that, week or day I should say um other things to consider when making your meals is uh.

This mre uh beverage based raspberry. They come in like lemon raspberry uh. Probably I don’t know if they come in grape or strawberry or cherry, but um. Some of the common flavors are like raspberry lemon. So you guys can bring these types of beverages if you’re not wanting to drink, just coffee and tea all the time um. Other things that I consider to bring is either. If you’re, not someone that likes sweet coffee, you can get these uh nest cafe: tasters choice, packets and it’s a single cup um of instant coffee.

It comes black, so if you’re going to want to take black coffee and not have the three in one mixture that a lot of these come with, you may consider just taking a little container of uh. Some of your creamer- this is the uh delight french vanilla. So it’s easy to pack a lot of these little things. You can take your little tiny, uh tub like I have back here. This is one of the coolers I’ve been showing you guys and previously, and some of the other mre videos. I can fit a lot of this stuff in there and take it on the trip with me.

Um. One of the other items that you can take along with the dark coffee is, of course, these. They come in a three-in-one packets nest. Cafe um they’re ready to go guys, they taste like it, has uh sweetener, creamer, all the above and that all in one, so we’re gonna go ahead and work with some of these items and the taste testing that we’re gonna do today, we’ll uh try some of these crackers with the beef stew and then we’ll get a few different beverage drinks going, and then we have some peanut butter and pound cake.

So, let’s get ready to do this all right, so guys we’ll put the meal to the side for a second, let’s prep, some water uh for the beef stew and then for our coffee and then we’ll get some crackers ready to go too. I do have a featured item today. What we’re gonna use um as far as heating up the water and I’ll show you a couple of things that come inside this featured item uh. As far as opening our can it’s good to keep one of these around you can find them at your local sports stores. Sportsman’s warehouse carries these couple dollars for a couple of them.

These are the traditional old-school can openers made from carbon steel and they’re nickel plated so stay sharp for years. They work great for opening these. If you don’t have electricity to use, your electric can opener um. As far as this little kit goes. As far as making this, I picked up this kit on amazon. This kit comes with a wee little spoon or oh. What the heck was. That was that supposed to be a small pirate but anyways a wee little spoon and then cool comes with a lid. I guess that goes there, and then we have oh shoot.

Look at that guys. Look at that little tiny coffee pot, not even a coffee pot, but a hot water pot. It has some other things inside of it. I’m gonna show you guys this as we’re getting our food prepared. Um comes with a pot to heat up stuff in. If we weren’t going to use the bag to heat it up, we would use these pots, which are kind of cool. You got a frying pan as well for this particular kit link in the description below. If you guys want this kit to be able to use so it comes with both of those pots.

It does have a lid for your cook pot, your frying, pan, here’s a lid that would go to your actual hot water pot, cool little tiny handle um. We have some little tiny containers to use which are cool because if you’re gonna make this for two which actually this is a serving for two guys. So if you’re gonna make this for you and your significant other, then uh, basically you’ll have enough uh and you’ll have little serving bowls that aren’t so big, so not so many dishes to clean up in this particular little kit too.

It comes with these little silverware items and they have little folding handles like there’s your fork. It’s made of stainless steel, so pretty cool stuff works. Well, you get a fork, a spoon and they’re all made of metal, no plastic and a shank. No I’m just kidding it’s a butter knife so looks like a little sponge for cleaning your actual silverware and bowl. I don’t know how good that’s gonna last, but also a dipping spoon in case you didn’t want to reach in here and pour it out. You could just take some scoops put it in your bowls and voila.

So we’re going to share this today when we go to eat it, we’ll get rid of some of these items and come back to you when it’s time to start the food okay guys. So let’s make some hot water uh for the meal and for the beverage whether it’s tea or coffee, we choose we’ll we’ll make a decision a minute. I’m gonna use two different stoves today, guys if you’ve watched the previous videos, as I’ve mentioned, you’ll see these stoves at work cooking, some of our food and stuff. This one takes tablets folds up just like that.

I use pie pans to place my stoves on for table top reasons. I’d recommend with these types guys, if you’re using these little uh fuel pellets that you only start with two sometimes three can get the flame going a little bit too high, which will actually cause it to uh flame up over the top of your pot, and it can melt these types of plastic uh components on your stuff, so be careful of those. What I want to try is to light this with this little kit, this little kit that I just showed you with the pots and the dishes and the silverware comes with a little fire starter too, and I’ve actually never even really use this guys um.

It comes with the fire starting stick and then the little scraper I guess to cause the sparks I’m spoiled. So that’s what it looks like it’s a smaller version, um I’m spoiled, but I want to see what it’s like to get this thing started. So, let’s try it out guys see if I can get it and just like that, that’s cool! So guys these would be cool. You can get the little fire starting uh, it’s like string or like a cotton or something and what you would do is you would take it and you would put it in between the little sticks that you were going to use and then uh that little spark that you seen that lit.

That would be sufficient enough to actually start the fire. If you were gonna use wood in your outdoors, so pretty cool little item you’ve seen it work. If you don’t have a lighter, that’s the alternative. It’s not gonna be the same for this one. This one, however, and I’ll swap places what I can do when I start the water. In my bigger pot, this one’s gonna take a little bit longer than the smaller one, so I’ll go ahead and get this to roll in 64 ounces of water. Guys. I’ve mentioned this before and some of my other mre videos, but that should be enough to be able to cook the freeze-dried beef meal.

We’ll put that on there, like, I say, look on the bottom kind of until you get used to how you’re gonna keep that up. There get that flame a little bit hotter um get some water in this one too. This one’s much smaller. This would be sufficient if you guys were just making like some coffee or whatnot. So we’re gonna try this smaller little teapot pretty cool. I think it’s neat you can look inside and just fill it up so you’re at the bottom of that neck. That way, it doesn’t leak out. Put that on there.

The difference between the two guys is this one doesn’t whistle you’ll just see it steaming this one whistles um! Now for this, if I had matches which I don’t have with me, I would use that to actually uh start the fire with this. But since I don’t have the matches, I’m just gonna go ahead and use my lighter um. You can see how quick they start up. It doesn’t take much to get this thing going either. Just a few seconds of your lighter it’ll eventually pass on to the other tablet, then we can just stick this little guy right up there like that, and then we can just stick these off to the side for a minute and let those heat up and then, while that’s heating up, we can go ahead and get the food ready.

Let’s see what this uh freeze-dried food looks like um before we even pour any water in it. I don’t even see a tear line on this. Of course, why would there be? Oh here we go all the way down, just really down low, all right, zip, lock. So guys, if you haven’t seen what this looks like then uh, that’s what it looks like ahead of time and that’s the beef stew with a hearty gravy with beef, potatoes, carrots and peas comes looking kind of funky like some stuffing that’s what we’re gonna put our hot water in um.

I think today, out of the three that I’ve already showed you, the tea, the three in one coffee or the dark, I’m going to go with a tea. Today, I’ve been doing coffee lately and I’m ready for some tea. So we’ll do the earl grey, which is the traditional tea I like to get um when I uh buy teas I’ll just adjust that a little bit. So you guys you can see how good that these little stoves work uh your high pressure burner. If you turn it up, is gonna boil in two to three minutes. This one can take a little bit longer um when you’re done, if you’re not done if the tablets are still going, but you’re done using the burner.

Uh you’re, probably just gonna, have to dump some water on that. To put it out or just let it burn out, naturally, they will burn out by themselves. Let’s look at the other items that we have so we’ll put the dessert off to the side for a minute. We have these crackers. Let’s open these crackers up guys. I’ve never had this particular brand of pilot crackers. This could take a little while to do that’s how you get it in there just like that, then you kind of just do this number and you got to go around the whole can like this.

So get a good grip, and until you get the hang of this, it’s not going to be that easy guys. You got to use a little bit of thumb pressure and look at that all right guys. Almost there pretty cool stuff here, this thing’s pretty sharp there. It is. I bet you, these crackers are gonna, be a little broken up and I was right. Fresh packet. Is this salt? What is that harmless, nope absorbent, look at that guys, wow they’re all kind of broken up, but they still taste good. What do these remind me of um? I’m not sure.

Honestly, it’s only the top cracker, that’s broken guys. If you go down below there’s the whole crackers that are still intact. It’s just shipping on these can cause them to break up a little bit. These are probably going to go really good with the beef stew, sometimes with beef. Stews people have items such as cornbread or biscuits, or something to go with your beef too. So this is going to be our dried biscuits. Canned biscuits we’ll have our pound cake I’ll, put a little bit of chunky, peanut butter on that for the sweetness and we’ll have him make our tea.

So once the water is done, we’ll get everything else started, wow guys, I’m kind of impressed. I don’t have this up that high. If I would have turned it up higher, it would have cooked faster or been done, but look at this one. This is off of just the natural little tablets and the burn stove. This is burning. I can feel it bubbling in there. It’s not burning, but it’s boiling. I should say: I’m gonna set that down there off to the side and then that’s what the tablets look like. You can continue to just stay warm if it’s cold.

It’s uh been pretty chilly out here, where we’re at um in the 30s to 50s. So that feels good. This one will whistle um, let’s go ahead and make our tea. Let’s get the beverage ready. Perfect still got a little bit of water left over too guys all right guys, it’s finally boiling wow. This guy was able to heat up that little bit of water faster than the high pressure with a little bit more water, we’ll let that sit for just a second, let’s go ahead and make something to drink, to go with our tea, some cold, we’re gonna, use this uh beverage based raspberry, I’m gonna! Just let you guys know off the top of my head that I wouldn’t pour it all in there.

Um I’ve had this drink before and the powder is artificially uh sugar. So it’s probably like a saccharine or something, but I would just pour a little bit in there at a time, not even half the pack honestly, this thing just uh it will definitely be painted and then the water to go with my freeze-dried food. Let’s see how this tastes. Sometimes I don’t get this mix right. It’s kind of trial and error thing with this, but it is something to have that’s a little bit sweet and cold just the way I like it, and these crackers are delicious to go with it.

So let’s go ahead and get some hot water inside of this, and then you guys can see right there all right, let’s go ahead and put some water in there. I’m just going to pour that in there like. So you don’t want to put too much in at a time you want to mix it into a little bit at a time. One thing you always want to make sure to get out is that guy do not eat oops, but there you go. So don’t remember when you guys are getting these to take out the little absorbing packet that didn’t do nothing to us for just now when we poured it in there, it’s getting kind of thick already, I’m gonna add a tiny bit more water to it.

You can see that some of the powder is not quite absorbed, don’t go too much at a time guys it tells you kind of where to do it, but I, like mine, texture, the way I like it not the way they want me to do it, and then you can kind of just mix that and look how luscious that looks dang. I can smell that and that smells delicious um kind of a mush, but you want to let it sit for a little bit, zip that up and then we’ll just go ahead and let it absorb the rest of the water in there. I still have a little bit of hot water left.

If I want to go ahead and use that if I don’t like the way it tastes um, let’s check out the pound cake and I’ll keep this actually off to the side. In case I decided, I want a second glass of raspberry drink uh. We have the marble pound cake, this one to be specific, has 300 calories in it’s 14 grams of fat, see what it looks like guys. I haven’t had one of these ones: I’ve had the poppy lemon and that one was delicious, but I haven’t had one of these and a lot of these products all come with these little absorbing packets.

So make sure you guys get those out. You don’t want to take a bite of that that would kind of taste disgusting um. Look at that look at the marbling in this thing, guys zoom in on that wow. Look at that looks really delicious. It’s got a great texture, oh yeah, it smells beautiful. It smells like that angel cake with a touch of chocolate. Let’s see what the center of this looks like delicious guys delicious. I think it looks awesome. I think that’s going to be a wonderful touch to this particular meal.

Let’s um! Let’s look at the peanut butter too, we’ll just put the peanut butter out and uh. If we want to use it, we can a little bit tough to open but we’ll get it. This is the chunky, peanut butter, guys. If you watched my last video, we did a an mre which was about eight years old. We were interested to see what it looked like, even though it was expired. Uh it came with some peanut butter similar to this definitely wasn’t like this one. You can tell fresh peanut butter when you get it now.

I understand what they were saying about when you’re trying to get the chunky out, you can feel the little chunks of peanut butter kind of it’s hard to get it out, but we’ll make it work that tastes really fresh guys. That’s gonna go good um. The alternative is going to be the crackers with the beef stew, which we’re gonna dump it out and show you guys exactly what it looks like um. It’s probably almost done. I’m gonna give it another minute or so uh. Let me see if I get one of these hole crackers out kind of it’s they’re kind of hard to get out guys.

It’s no wonder they break, but look. We can get this guy out up kind of shattered, but you can see the whole crackers in there. It’s really just the top couple that shatter you can eat those like. You would like a snack that tastes wonderful, they’re, not too bland and they’re, not too dry. They wash down great with that raspberry um. Let’s try some with some peanut butter. Let’s see how this chunky, peanut butter is guys spreads nicely looks wonderful, smells and tastes great wow. This is probably fresher than the peanut butter I get inside of containers at the store when I buy it delicious I’m the type of person that could just get a pack of saltines and then put like peanut butter and jelly on them for a snack.

This is delicious. Those pilot crackers really go well with this peanut butter. Definitely a good selection to start the meal with I’m gonna pour some of this down, because I might even use some of those crumbs to go in my beef stew, you guys after you pour it out. Okay, let’s check out the main course. Let me put my drinks off to the side here. You guys can hear that motor. That’s another one of the beasts here in the background, my neighbor has one too so so look at it guys. It almost looks like a stuffing first impressions.

It cooked up really. Well, though, look at that texture that texture is wonderful, it has chunks of beef little chunks of potatoes. Carrots peas has a wonderful, looking gravy. Let’s pour this out, so we can actually see it all wow. This is this is awesome guys, and this is supposed to be enough for two people. It actually looks like it’s enough for you and your significant other keep in mind, guys, adventure, meals, mountain house, that’s what we’re using today, expiration date of 30 years, just a little bit of water, uh calories per servings, 200 total containers, 400 calories, um.

Let’s, let’s try this out guys. I’ve been waiting to anxiously, try this and you see that we added our own crackers, marble cake. We have peanut butter to go with the crackers um, and then we have the beef stew. So let’s try this beef stew on one of our cool little new spoons here that smells wonderful guys. It literally smells like a beef pot pie. I want to burn my mouth though, as hungry as I am, because I haven’t eaten all day wow that was totally delicious. I might have been able to let it sit for just another couple, more minutes of a tiny bit more water, but still it’s not even bad right now I use biscuits, it tastes delicious with it.

The carrots definitely stick out in flavor they taste fresh. The gravy almost reminds me of a gravy from the salisbury steak. Meals doesn’t taste like salisbury steak, but it has a gravy texture like that. The peas are still really intact and they they mush down smoothly. The potatoes are not hard to uh miss. They have a wonderful taste to them. They still taste fresh and overall guys it. It looks like a mush, but it’s really really good. All right guys, I’m gonna, take this pause, wouldn’t be right.

If I didn’t share some of this with my loyalist cameraman, like I said this is this: is enough for two people cameraman cheers, so I’m gonna finish that up even take some of these dry crackers. Put them inside like that mix it around, and it’s going to be a hearty meal. Guys! It’s wonderful! I really do like the freeze-dried food. I would even consider buying a commercial freeze, drying machine and actually tries freeze drying. My own food, if I was out in the woods and I’ve talked about this in my previous videos, my brand new step is being satisfied with food.

That’ll. Keep me feeling full and will keep me focused during the day or whatever it is. I’m engaged in I’m telling you food makes all the difference. People can be hangry, they lose focus they’re miserable you eat ready to go. You know what I want to try a little bit of this peanut butter on a piece of my cake. Look at that! Nothing spreads so nicely guys. That’s wonderful! That’s a heck of a dessert to have delicious absolutely delicious this tea, not marble cake or peanut butter and ariel gray, is my favorite.

It’s the only tea I like without sugar and milk, just plain by itself, so guys I’m hooked on this. I actually like this still set up today, better than I like, sometimes mres, and I would definitely buy it and considering the fact that you get 50-year expert or 30-year I’m sorry. 2050 is the date for expiration of this particular meal, but 30 years. That’s a long time. I’d be interested to wait like 15 years and then come back and cook it and just to see how it would actually come out aged 15 years, but as it stands right now guys, this is absolutely delicious for what it is, the raspberry beverage it helps to rinse down the drier foods.

Peanut butter can dry you out a little bit. How was that cameraman, awesome and cameraman? Guys sharing is caring. It’s my slogan. I don’t eat a whole lot, but I like to share everyone should feel full and happy, and even after that guys we still have the final dessert. As you can see, I cleaned my plate and everything fits together great, so guys. Real, quick freeze, dried beef, stew, pilot crackers in the can amazon, raspberry beverage drink comes in a big bag of like 30 of them, amazon, the peanut butter packs chunky peanut butter, either your coffee black add a little bit of creamer three in one.

I chose the earl grey tea today. So let’s get to dessert all right guys, there’s only one thing left and that’s the dessert: the ice cream freeze-dried chocolate, mint sandwich. I’ve tried a regular one, but I haven’t tried the mint chocolate chips, so I’m not quite sure how this one’s gonna taste, but that’s how it comes guys. Just a simple expiration date. 2022 and the year is 20 21 right now, so we got a year on these guys. So if you’re gonna have these, I wouldn’t buy them in bulk per se.

I’d buy them for your particular events, so they don’t go bad. It would be a waste of money they’re about three to four dollars, a piece. Here’s the unwrapping. Look at that guys. That is crazy. Can you believe that freeze dried ice cream sandwich smells great? It’s just. It blows my mind that it’s to be able to freeze dry ice cream. Like I don’t know, is there something I’m missing here, or can you really just freeze dry ice cream? Try it out man, let’s see, hmm same texture as the originals.

It’s not overpoweringly, minty, guys! That’s awesome! In fact, I like this one better than the original, because it just gives it a little bit better of a flavor than the vanilla. The vanilla freeze, dried is cool, but it’s not this cool. I like the mint chocolate chip. Oh hard, the cookie is still fresh. I wonder what would happen if we added water to one of these. Would it just blow up like a freeze-dried ice cream sandwich? I don’t know. Am I supposed to. Where are you supposed to add water this and you just eat it ready to eat? No drip, no mess! That’s just right eat like that with your tea or your coffee.

I am more than satisfied with today’s meal. If I was cisco and ever I’d, give it two thumbs up, but I’m not so I’m gonna give it one thumbs up and no thumbs down. I was amazed at this little stove today, crazy that it was able to heat up the water significantly faster uh, and you can see the pellets just burn away, and that’s it not much of a cleanup just fold.

It up put it away and of course you know you can take apart your little burner real, quick but uh yeah. It’s cool to have a couple variations of cooking stoves and stuff, so you can cook at the same time simultaneously make stuff get done faster. I want to just thank you guys, first and foremost, for tuning in today checking out our grub ideas, guys it’s no joke. It’s rough out there I can smile all I want and that’s truly my mentality, but things are kind of scary. Oh food food can be scary.

Who knows, if we’ll having all of a sudden shortage? Oh and it could be weeks before you actually can get back in and then even then lions are going to be out the door again like we’ve seen in the past here with covet. So if you have extra dollars, I would suggest lining yourself up with some extra little cookwares and uh some freeze-dried foods and some mres, and you know canned crackers. This was impressive. I really dig these guys cool item. Gonna buy some more of those um, the peanut butter that we showed you guys, the cakes all that stuff is available.

You can buy it store it make your own meals swap out stuff snacks whatever. If you’re going on hunting trips, you want to go out in the mountains for two days, you can easily pack a couple meals they put together wonderfully and they’re easy to prepare with the water in the stoves and if you’re not using the stoves, then you might have your little heaters. It’s a gear tester here and today I’m going to be eating and reviewing the mountain house freeze-dried chicken and dumplings entree now what’s different about this review is in all my other reviews of mountain house meals or other freeze-dried meals. I had eaten those before this is the first time I’m going to be eating the chicken and dumplings from mountain house.

I have licked the spoon, but that’s as as much tasting as I’ve done here. If you guys are interested in other food reviews and things there will be a link in the description of this video that will take you to a playlist of all the different food products. I’ve reviewed over the years, I’m also harvesting some prunes and I’m drying them.

There’s lots of other things. I’m doing if you guys are interested in that I’d, be happy to do videos on that topic, kind of prepping food canning. That kind of things I don’t know how much interest there is on my channel for me to produce videos like that. There’s lots of that kind of content on youtube already.

But if this video gets three or four hundred views- and I get 50 or 60 likes- and you guys want to comment in the description on different kinds of food preservation techniques and things you’d like me to show if I know how to do those- or I can learn quickly I’ll- do some videos on that. But let’s get back to here to the chicken and dumplings taste test here, I’m gonna pour it in a bowl so that you can see it, but it comes this little bag like that.

You’ve got a bunch of peas and carrots stir it just a little bit. I didn’t film myself pouring boiling water into the little pouch here. I didn’t think you guys needed to see that you will need to pour boiling water into the pouch. I did document what the food looked like before I poured boiling water into it, because I wanted you to be able to see what the dry contents of the mountain house meal looked like one thing, you’re going to want to do is make sure that you get the little oxygen absorber package out of it.

It’s not a disaster. If you don’t, but it’s a lot less messy, if you get it out before you rehydrate the food, this meal says that you’re supposed to put a cup and a half of water in it I put about 11 ounces of water instead of the 12 ounces. I find that most these mountain house meals get a little bit soupier than I want them.

I have put the water in it. I’ve stirred it after four minutes. I’ve waited it another, eight or so minutes, and now we’re going to try it out, but I’ll pour the food into a bowl here. So you can see it, that’s not all of it, but that’s about half of it there. So from the little taste test that I already got licking the spoon off uh.

What I found is that this tasted, pretty doughy, so I’m not a big dumpling eater. Okay, dumplings are kind of a southern thing and I’m a boy that grew up in the north. So all right, that’s actually pretty good. It does kind of taste. I mean it’s. Obviously this has a lot of carbs in it. I, like the peas in the carrots.

I like the little bits of chicken that I’m hitting there they’re chewy nice. Now this is a little bit bigger pieces of chicken. You can see that there then are in some of their other meals, and I actually like that it is flavorful most. These meals have plenty of salt in them. This is definitely salty, but not in a bad way.

You know I actually really like this. I think it’s definitely got some pepper or something in it. I could eat this and enjoy it. As a general rule, I tend to get the mountain house, meals or other freeze-dried meals that have pastas and different things in them and truly this is a a lot of carbs and a lot of gluten and wheat, but I don’t I don’t mind that I actually like gluten and wheat very much so, and what I do like about this is it’s a different taste profile and texture.

You know, I really didn’t think I was going to like this meal. I could eat this regularly. I wouldn’t want to have it every day, because I wouldn’t want to have anything every day, but you know what, especially, if you have a little camp oven, you had some cornbread with a little honey and butter on it.

Man this is bringing out my inner southerner. I like that, you know I was fully prepared. Wait till I finish chewing here huh. I was fully prepared to not like this meal to give a negative review on this, and you know what I actually really like it 15 grams of protein per serving. So I think it has two servings in it.

So you’re talking about 620 calories, we’re talking about 30 grams of protein. You got talking about all that food right there and all you have to do is add hot water just pulling pouring boiling water into this little packet, zip, locking it closed and waiting for the appropriate amount of time. So I like the fact that these mountain house meals are so simple to set up.

I like that they have a variety of different flavors and options for you in their entrees, and you know what I would give this a definite thumbs up and I would recommend it and I’m going to go to the store here in the next couple days and buy three or four more of these, because I’m headed out on some adventures here in this next month and I’m going to enjoy eating some mount house meals.

It won’t be exclusively mountain house meals, lots of regular food, but just in case we need some quick food, whether that’s we’re just moving quickly and we’re enjoying the activities we’re engaging in. We just need a fast meal or whether my wife and I are tired and we don’t want to do a lot of cooking and there’s no place about to eat.

I really like these mountain house meals. I’ve used them on a lot of backpacking trips day hikes, and I just think they’re very nifty, very simple. All you need is the ability to warm some water up, get it boiling and pour it in. You will need a longer spoon because these packets tend to be a little bit longer.

So there you go the gear. Tester stamp of approval goes on the mountain house, chicken and dumplings meal. I really like the carrots, I really like the peas, and I think it is a delicious little meal. Everybody Travis here, Mud Creek calm, want to do a review today of the Mountain House chicken Terry with rice pouch. This is kind of the normal sized pouch. They also sell them in a pro pack. This is a different flavor, but you get an idea of the size here. These are about two ounces, the probe or excuse me, two servings, the pro packs. This pouch here is about 2 5 servings a little bit different. They don’t vacuum so the regular pouches here, as you can see it’s just a you know, it’s got a little bit of oxygen in it, but they they do great I, actually like these a little bit more in some ways, just because they’re one they’re a little bit bigger serving having 2 5 servings in which I like and they you know, I actually like kind of how these stack, because you could stack them like that and they come in a box of or a case of six.

So if you want to buy it for food source, it’s great item. I, think these are great for food storage, for hunting fishing, camping, backpacking. You know I really think mountain house is kind of the leader in that area when it comes to freeze-dried foods and- and you know any kind of instant easy to make foods like this, because all you have to do is pretty much add water which I love, and so you know, hot water, typically boiling water cool thing about them is the last quite a long time.

Mountain house I, don’t even see that, but they quit printing a expiration date on it. They just print a manufactured date. So this was manufactured in October, 14 2013. They say that they’ll last they used to be seven years, but they’ve changed some of the processes and now the last up dead at ten plus years. They say all that will really happen after ten years that you might notice a little bit more discoloration in that a change in the maybe a little less flavor to it.

But it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad and that’s the cool thing about they even said they won’t. You know they’ve said on their on their website that they’ve even had some ago 30 years and it tasted just fine. So something to think about 10 is kind of the what they say, but they’ll go quite a bit longer than that and you shouldn’t have any problems with them. I love mountain house, like I, said I, think they’re great product. We’re going to do is we’re going to fire this up, get some water going here and actually taste it and you know obviously I won’t be able to describe exactly how it tastes but I hope I can give you a pretty clear picture.

Here’s just a little quick look at the ingredients and the nutritional facts. This is all post on our website. Where we sell these, you can look and read a little bit more. So if you have any questions specifically on this, if you have any allergies or whatnot, for example, look down here, it says, contains soy and wheat, so if you’re allergic to soy or have a gluten allergy, something to think about anyway. Here’s the preparation, all you do. Is you open the package and and remove the oxygen absorber? Remember to do that.

I forgot to do that sometimes add two cups of boiling water to it, and then you stir it up and- and you see what you got there, so you let it sit for eight to nine minutes, and then you can stir it up. I tend to just kind of mix it with my hand, I’m going to get this water going on our trusty little cooker here and I’ll be back with you in just a second and we’ll show you what we got all right. We got our stove going here. I got to go ahead and throw this on this is the optimist crux light if anybody’s curious, which stove it is, it’s got a little lid here too I like to throw it on there just to help contain some of that heat.

It’ll typically boil water, and you know, depending on altitude and temperature, three to five minutes I’ve, had it real cold weather, where it was really hard to keep going, but just because you know, is 16 below so all right. So, let’s tear this open here, show you what we got Oh real, quick before I. Do that? Let me just tell you else is on here. This is about five point, one point: zero 1 ounces packed. So if you’re curious what it’s going to do to your backpack weight or anything else about it measure this for you, so you can see the difference in in in dimensions here.

So it’s about 10, inches of Shive 10 inches by oh about seven and a quarter inches, and then these things I mean you can kind of flat these down a little bit. So if you wanna make a platter, you can definitely do that, but they’re measured on the ball and give you a better feel for it, they’re about two inches, so it kind of gives you the idea and tear it open here, be careful when you tear these. Sometimes if you, if you don’t tear right it tears up top like it kind of did there and you start from the other side and leave it or you don’t want to tear down there’s a resealable part here kind of like a ziploc bag.

So this is the chicken teriyaki with rice. I’m had this one too much, so this is going to be experience. For me, this is the oxygen absorber. You just need to pull out. I, don’t know, it’ll kill you if you left it in there, I’ve done it a couple times, so it didn’t kill me, but I wouldn’t eat this. You know or let it contaminate your food. So that’s what it looks like dry. You know it doesn’t look bad at all. Actually, so as soon as this water is ready to go, we’ll dump it in there and see what we’ve got you said you want to get it boiling.

What I kind of do is special figure out the wilderness to use like Creek water or something like that. You definitely want to get it boiling, but I mean you could probably get away with it, not boiling if you wanted to it’s just kind of up to you. So this is a combination of oriental flavors. So it’s more of an oriental meal I’m going to go ahead and shut this off and wait till the water gets going here in fact actually about there. So maybe we’ll just leave it on anyway, this some of the ingredients and it’s cooked chicken soy sauce brown, sugar, bamboo, shoots, mushrooms, red peppers, green peas, modified cornstarch, sherry wine, onions, green peppers, garlic powder, alcohol, I’m, not sure that is for but ground, ginger, salt, vinegar, lactic, acid, so really I, don’t read this and think, there’s anything crazy in it.

It just seems well, you know weird to me so that’s kind of the nice thing about it looks like our water’s boiling here so pop this off before we get water everywhere shut. My heat off set that over here, so all you’re going to do. Is you take this hot water obviously want to be careful not to burn yourself and then dump it in I’ll kind of show you, as you can see it a little bit but dump it in uh. You know it’s best to mix it up with a spoon you can also mix it up with.

You know if you have gloves on I, wouldn’t recommend doing this without gloves, but if you seal it off and you kind of kind of squeeze the pouch like this and get it mixed up, it’s obviously pretty hot right now, so you might have to let it cool to do that. But you really want to kind of make sure the ingredients are mixed and we said it gets pretty hot like that. Yeah touch it for too long. So what that’s it for the eight to nine minutes and we’ll see how it looks and I’ll get back to you all right.

The nine minutes is up. Let’s take a look at this and see what we got. The just stir it up real, quick here: okay, so that’s kind of what it looks like right there just right in the bag. You know don’t look too bad dump it in a bowl here and you can see what it looks like cutting an idea of the full size of this. It looks like we didn’t stir it up well enough on the bottom hits on it, we’ll stir it up here in the bowl. Some of those seasoning looks like that toward the bottom.

You know you might even just shake it up a little bit, especially the stuff like this. It’s a little heavier in the seasonings. You might just shake it up a little bit before you dump the water in it and get it kind of mixed up. That’s probably something I should have done that I think would have helped, but you know, oh no I, don’t think it looks bad at all. I spilled off the bowl here. Let me tell you on the taste and it’s a little hot, but you know it doesn’t really taste like that.

Minute Rice, you’ve seen they’re, just real, cheap stuff and I actually tastes pretty good. It’s got. You know the grain rice tastes pretty good in it, and it’s kind of a sweet-and-sour flavor with a little bit of sound I, wouldn’t say taht as far as like spicy goes, but it does have maybe just just a little bit of a kick to it, but not really I mean I, don’t if you’re not in the hot speeds I, you know it’s not too bad. It’s just more of a teriyaki flavor I, don’t think tastes bad at all, though there’s a mushroom there kind of give an idea.

Now let me get a piece of chicken there’s a piece right here and I can tell you how it tastes, chicken tastes. Fine, it doesn’t taste like you know, I can’t even tell it’s like freeze-dried or anything on app, so it tastes pretty good. You know, if you’re not into oriental foods or anything you may not like this flavor I, don’t mind it. I would definitely throw it. You know I would say it’s one of my favorites just cuz. You know it just kind of depends on the mood, I’m and I’m, not always in the mood for oriental food.

So but I would definitely throw this in my pack if I were going on a longer trip. Definitely put my food storage is just something to spice it up and add some different flavor I, like it I, don’t mind it at all. Like I said it’s probably not my number one flavor, but you know, if you don’t mind, some oriental food I, definitely recommend this one I. Don’t think you go wrong at all so anyway, I hope this gives you a kind of a clearer idea of what it looks like after it’s been cooked.

So you kind of get an idea. If this is something you’d want to throw in your food storage or throw in your backpack gets a thumbs up from me, I would definitely put it mine, that’s just my opinion, but I. Don’t think you’d go wrong with this, especially if you don’t mind oriental food I think it would taste just fine. One thing is you could probably go. You know if you wanted to. If you wanted to have a little less water in there, you probably could you know you just want to make sure that rice is kind of rehydrating up a little bit so come check us out at Mud Creek com.

Just like dried up stuff, yeah it’ll work, all right, hot water in the chicken clear it up. My MSR spork freak out this thing I forget to do that seal it up. Let it sit for what’s of 89 minutes, which is why I out there? Okay, then flip them. Let’s open this thing up, give it a quick stir to face way: Wow! Alright! Well, you see it in there grace looks pretty good and I looked hurt again, stirred up three crisis on fully hydrated chicken tonight.

Remember, that’s pretty good! Teriyaki flavors are balanced. That’s it it’s just pretty decent! So for chicken teriyaki with rice, cool, dude, vs wild, get this thing I’ll two thumbs up and here’s the other one right there good stuff and try it. You.

Is Miss dougie with diamond, be outdoors today we’re going to be doing our next piece in our series of uh survival foods today we’re going to be trying the adventure, meals, mac and cheese, so we’ve got some water boiling on the campfire and we’ll put that in here in just a second okay. So we’ve got some boiling water here, it’s gonna be 1 and 1/3 cup and I’m actually going to tell you about these nutrition facts.

It’ll be right up here, so for one serving, which is have prepared. There’s supposed to be two servings in here. It’s going to be 310 calories, 14 grams of fat, 680 of sodium 33, total carbs and 13 of protein. That’s not terrible Bellus, miss Poste! So go ahead to remove this all right. This is stir carefully close the zipper when we wait five minutes and stir again and reseal and then set for additional four minutes.

So now we’re gonna sit and wait now all right. So we waited the five minutes. Give it a stir here and protip is while it’s sitting just go ahead and smush it around a little shake. It helps it mix it up a little bit better and wait another four minutes and then, after that, four minutes all right. So it’s been time and now we’re gonna give this stuff a try um.

It says creamy, mac and cheese, but it’s more like watery mac and cheese. Some clumps Hey all right, I’m gonna, try and put some in a bowl here that does not look appetizing way too much water, so maybe don’t put as much water. If you try, let’s see then I mean it. Countries like it was off-brand powder, cheese, packet, type of macaronis, not the worst I could eat it.

We’ll eat it a little bit o dente. So far. Let’s it longer, but it’s not bad yeah! It’s not terrible. I’m gonna eat it. Gonna! Try something! Don’t give you a mouthful so I’m an exclusive Velveeta, mac-and-cheese guy, it’s liquid gold. This actually tastes exactly like Kraft, Mac and Cheese to me, but more watering, more watery, but I think we’re gonna fix that yeah! It’s not bad I need it.

I need to prep out of it star rated sorry I mean I like the off-brand crap powder, mac and cheese, so I’d give it a 4 I’ll eat it he’s not gonna eat it. You might, but he likes the Velveeta. Morning, guys, what’s not on a hike today with some work in here and it’s about lunchtime so I figured I do another trail. Food, video and today I’m hopping on the mountain house train again today, chicken teriyaki with rice hope it’s good have never had it so far haven’t been to let down by any of these meals.
