Go ahead just ridiculous things. And oh it’s not about gonna serve. Or just to inform people. These things are available. This is made by Midland it’s. One of the emergency radio is. One of the things you know the FEMA put out their emergency of supply checklist. You know one of the things is. This type of radio well. It works for fine for radio. You know I’ve been using it for. It also has a flashlight in. It but I’ll try to go through features. You know it’s got expand extendable antenna FM very good song really Weather Channel’s it’s good in. That way and it’s got a digital clock a readout the other thing it’s kind of like set your VCR to set. It a couple times to get. It figured out what impressed. This unit and the reason. Iwas interested in. It yo not only is it the radio function. It does have a flashlight.

And a scroll bar you know. One of the things I don’t like about. That kind of setup. They got all run off. One switch so you go to the flashlight. They use an app then. You need to shut you actually have to go through the bright into the strobe to get back to the to. Nothing and that same switch functions to turn on there is an ultrasonic dog whistle. You got to push and hold. And then the dog starts flashing which means. That the dog was on but of course. You can’t hear because it’s ultrasonic. You know in theory there are. You know some of the search dogs are trained for. You know to pick that up but no to. You know that’s something. Ihave doubts about but. You know the whole rig it’s like a $60 unit but. What I liked about it okay it’s got a built in battery. And it’s got a solar charging panel on top. You have to be realistic about. These are only gonna maintain a battery. This in direct sunlight. It isn’t like it’s gonna do a lot of charging but.

It does have the crank on. You know and there’s a red light. That comes on right there. When you’re cranking it to show. That you’re actually charging so it’s useful in. That way but you know as. That is redundant you know there’s. Many ways of getting power in. And out of this thing this is the big built-in battery. It also uses six regular doublea’s. You can go or the other. This little panel is the switch to go back. And forth from the pen lights to the built-in battery. And also it’s got a USB in a micro USB in. And a USB out so it works really good-oh yeah. And there’s a headphone jack there too. What I have to use it for at the moment no. You can charge it on the USB yo with a regular phone charger. You know the micro USB. When it’s charged you can then connect to the USB out which gives.

You a micro USB that works. And the cable comes with the rig to charge a phone. And could I say amusing. It happened to come in handy. What happened is by yesterday. You know I use tremendous amounts of data on my phone I’m talking you know over 100 gigabytes a month easily over 100. Ihaven’t been under hundred for a long time. Idownloaded all my videos through the phone well yesterday. Ihad the phone plugged in. It came into the house. It could spell there was. Something hard electrical well. Idon’t have a lot of electric of going on. You know I run my charger runs off a car battery which. Icharge up occasionally. That charge is my phone so it’s about their car for an adopter well I’ve had. Nothing but trouble with them. One finally died again. Icould smell that electrical smell. Ifinally tracked it down well. That was the deal so then. Ihave no way to charge well. That isn’t true this rig so. This rig I lost balls.

Though like it for radio. And stuff but it does work very well but. They say this is a $60 unit. They make a smaller version with less battery power there. Iremember right is like a $40 unit it’s a good substantial unit. You know I really have. Nothing bad to say about. It except for like I don’t care for. That cycling that switched. All the time it could be that’s an annoyance. Iwould have liked to seen on the light deal. You know the light is very directional. It only goes the one way well. One of the funds I would like Seymour was a late. That diffused you could light up an area with.

You know you were trapped in a basement of the cave then the house was a bunch of kids well okay be nice to have a late. That wasn’t just directional. You know that would light up well wait a second no. We got the dog here she’d be wrecked through the dog whistle oh yeah okay. He was cocking his head turning his head looking like. Something was going on so evidently. He can hear in the ultrasonic range but in theory. Some dogs are trained for. Iguess that’s you know but like. Isaid it’s handy to have redundant systems so. You can go on to built-in battery. Or the pen lights this the solar panel like. Isaid really is only gonna maintain a thing or. You can use the crank see you’ve got options there. It can be charged off for any full charger no I’m sorry the thing has uses. Iactually it was a little impressed with. And it’s a pre substantially built unit I’ve dropped. Several times a nothing’s broken. Yet but turn off I go to put a video go well probably.

This video I can crank my videos over. Ican actually sit there. And crank this thing and wind up my for auto video but not bad. You know one made by Midland. And Midland you know has a reputation of the make. It radios for a long time. They got a bunch of directions for it. They make a bunch of different models but. This seems like a pretty reasonable. One yeah for tornadoes floods thunderstorms fires. And earthquakes okay. Idon’t have much that going on but the ability to charge. That’s because it’ll charge phones. And tablets no she’s got potential. And like I say not bad little radio I’ve been using it for radio for a. Now for this last month. Nothing listen to radio a lot but. Ido my other radio part. It fell apart a little transistor. One fell off the shelf. And teen smashed in. More pieces and I’m gonna try to put back together.

Ithought this thing came from well they’re. All over you search for I’m looking for a model er 310 evidently is a model number but. This came from Northern Tool. And like I said $60 but. You know Northern Tool always has their little discount cards. That come out you know. You don’t really ever have to buy thanks for full price at Northern cool. Iget them in a mail. All the time you buy $100. You get $20 off that kind of deal so. You can get a bit of a cut rate on. That but not a bad thing to have for a backup just manly. Ilike the idea it’s got a limb power options. You know because otherwise like. Isay I’d be kind of stuck until. Iget my charger situation remedied. This way I can charge.

Weekend adventurers meet the multifunctional marvel. That will never leave. You in the dark the Etan scorpion solar crank radio. And flashlight bundles. Several backpack essentials together in. One rugged space-saving unit am/fm radio with NOAA weather band three LED flashlights digital clock USB charging station for your phone. Or music player heck. Even a bottle opener pack. All with just one clip about the only thing not included with. This clever do-it-all instrument are batteries. Because they’re completely unnecessary thanks to solar. And dynamo generated power you’ll never be without. Anyone — scorpions great function making it great not only for the outdoors but also in your home. Or car’s emergency kit crank. Some tunes power up your mobile gadgets see your way through the dark the Etan scorpion solar crank radio. And flashlight lets.

Hey guys and it’s emergency gear reviews. And today I’m going to giving you a review on the Etan scorpion. This rady has been around for a. Few years but it’s still really great radio. This particular one for about a year. And it’s really rugged. It through a lot you can actually see a lot of the bangs. And stuff on it doesn’t look. All pretty anymore but. It still works great, so I’m going to get right down into. Some features of before actually. That I’m going to get into the cost of. This radio runs you about 50 bucks depends on where. You can get it on amazon com. And CA eBay you know the source Radio Shack. All those kind of fun places. Any usually any outdoor sports stores. Or emergency preparedness stores Etan is also the maker of. Some American Red Cross radios. They issue so you know it’s pretty good brand despite. Some cons that I’ll go over in a minute so. One thing this is great for as an emergency radio is.

It has alternate energy as a power source so there’s nowhere to put batteries in. This thing except for right here but that’s a built in battery so. You know that ever kicks a bucket. You can always replace. That but I would recommend cracking anything open. Because right now it’s. All self-contained it runs solely on three power solutions you’ve got the crank on the back the solar panel on the front. And the DC in on the side right here with the cable. That is sold separately obviously it’s got a radio it’s got am/fm. One of the seven no weather winds. That will work in your area as well as an awesome three white LED light flashlights that’s good for up to almost 10 feet. Ithought it works pretty well. It a lot because it’s just naturally a flashlight type of thing but. You can also there’s also a nice little clip right on the back here so. You can clip it on your pack so. If you’ve got your walking in on a nice sunny day hiking if you’re into. That kind of stuff then.

This solar panel will charge. It up real nice after about. Ifound after about six hours. You can get a nice full charge of. That so right on the front here. You have some of the display options you’ve got your channel selector up. And down on the left you’ve got an on indicator light. That doesn’t seem to have much of a point considering. You can actually it’s radios here. And be able to hear. You also have the display but okay so it’s pointless on. It really looks cool. And then you got a backlit display showing the time. And as well as your battery life. And three percent intervals. You also have a your volume up. And down and your mode selector between the am/fm. One of the seven NOAA weather bands as well as your on an off switch as. You can see it is backlit here so. You can see that’s notice talking about right there the LCD will not stay on the whole time that’s okay you’re not getting really good reception.

You can just pull out your antenna really quick here pop. You can see right there your antenna goes right out it’s not very long antenna but that’s okay. You can just pull that right up. One of the seven weather channels so. You can see which one works the best in my area as well. You can switch to your cell phone charger which I’ll get to in a minute. You can also switch to the FM Channel. That works pretty well. You want to scan any of the F AM. And FM channels you can go like. It will automatically just scan through the channels until. It comes up with something. You know plays for you. Another big bonus of. This thing is it splash resistant so. This thing left in the rain. You know you’re washing your vehicle. Something then it sprayed.

Something like you know. This thing isn’t going to quit on. You it’s not you can’t submerge. It so but it is splash resist ipx4. Something like it works pretty good it’s also rubberized. All over the place here so it’s pretty sweet. They seem to have like a really weird bottle cap opener on here for some weird reason so that’s pretty sweet radio. That was flipping over to the back here. You can peel this little rubber but stop her back. That exposes some of the ports you’ve got here you’ve got a cell phone charger you’ve got a auxiliary in port. And as well as a speakerphone. Or a headphone jack out. And that’s for you know to save battery on your speaker obviously. You also have the DC port. Iwas talking about before. All right so I got ahead. And grabbed my iPhone to demonstrate. This charging thing and. You can plug that right in there to. Where the USB out is then. You go on turn on your radio.

You cycle through until. It says cell phone nothing will be playing on the radio. You open the can crank notice. You have to be charging the whole time to actually get. Or cranking the whole time to get. It to charge so you know it’s kind of impractical as far as. That kind of solution goes but in a pinch. It will work all right so. Now getting into one of the cons about. This radio aside from its price for its price. It should be pretty much a perfect radio but. That with all of Eaton’s radios. That their antennas break see. This right here not much pretty much fresher in the initial pop. It rights out boom that happens too about. All of their antennas at. One point in time another no matter.

How nice I am trying to treat them so just. Something to note that doesn’t bug. You then we’re good but. You can’t really replace the antenna on. This particular radio. You don’t want to damage the waterproofing but anyway guys overall it’s a pretty good radio. Igive it about three stars just due to the fact. That antenna always breaks but. It otherwise it’s really great radio you’ll put. It on your pack it’s going to be really reliable as far as reception. And such things go and the light is just awesome as far as the solar panel which is running at a really high efficiency. Ican charge the radio. You know in about six to eight hours so. It was pretty awesome guys. This has been emergency gear reviews thanks for watching how to rate subscribe I’ll see.
