Lee Powder Measure Kit

Okay the lead perfect powder measure. Some it's a new product. Igot gonna try somebody will go wide meet a powder measure. Igot to lineman's whenever. You look into products. One good thing about the Internet as. You can see reviews. And a lot of places. That sell these have reviews about. This powder measure. It cost about twenty five dollars as compared to. Ithink the other lowest cost. One would be Frankfurt Arsenal. Everything else is 60. Or above $100 for powder measures. You can buy used ones. Everything else and the problem. Ihad with the LEAs is using bullseye. Or very fine powder which start binding the drum up after about 100 throws. Or so so I got into a long session my powder measure would bind up on. And it's just the nature of the powder. Ibelieve most powder measures. And that's why I'm making this video is to give. Me an idea on and the reason. Ibought it has to depend on how. It functions it depends on the type of powder using some powder measures don't like. One type of powder look. Than the other it can impede your use of. This here like I said it's inexpensive twenty-some-odd at 25 bucks. All the reviews they use the real fine powders for pistol throwing like charges the reviews are good.
You start getting into extremely large like rifle charge with stick powder then the reviews kind of drop down so. Ijust want a little simple powder measured set. And throw two three grains fine pistol powder so that's why I bought its idea behind. You know you it's all made out of plastic kind of made. Me nervous it's disassembled so there is. Some assembly required instructions. You get a little you get your screws. You get a kind of a steel bracket okay so. You have the basic unit. One feature I like about. This is pretty convenient is. You can rotate this top. You look down into the bottom there's a hole there. All the way over facing it. This way which if you're facing it will be. All the way to your left. It shuts and then you turn. This way all the way to your right.
When facing it opens up to. Where the powder will go down into the measure there's also a little screw here which. Ibelieve is a drain so. You permanent see the screw right there. You permanently mount. This there's a way for you to drain the powder out. What having a disassemble. And take it off the bench which is a nice feature. And your barrel you just. How much power you drop so the first thing you have to assemble is the spot which is a knurled nut with a washer. And the tube it comes in it's it's pushed up like. You want to back this out of the little. And give it a little room. Or won't go on you take the body.
And there's a rubber washer kind of holds. It in place you screw. That in by hand on its type. You have your bracket. And there's slots for two bolts. Ibelieve like the sheet metal screw goes. This top hole here so looking through. Isee the machine screws. This screw here is the. Ibelieve that goes up in there okay then. These two screws with nut. You put them through their t slots in. This bracket C you slide them over. And then you would take the nut on. This side or the other way. Whatever was easier for you. And tighten it down I'm gonna do. And then I'm gonna waste time showing you. Me tighten down a couple nuts okay there. We have the powder measure assembled the bolts come through the screw. And then you can mount. It to the bench they provide. You with wood screws to do. That I'm gonna just clamp.
It to have a temporary thing set up hopefully. That will be stable. And it's flimsy cable value so. Now we're gonna set. It up look at how functions go over the instructions here. It gives you a chart giving you an idea. How to use the little micrometer setting on the measure. How accurate the charges are thrown here so I'm gonna set her up. And get ready to throw. Some charges okay we got the measure mounted got. Some bullseye in there that's. Where I'm gonna throw. It shut off you take. These instructions okay. It gives you so hang out of these instructions. It tells how to use. This little micrometer symbol here there's a chart. That gives each grain of powder a number I'm using bull's-eyes so. That number is point. One zero six four I multiply. That by five point two the amount of greens. Iwant to throw it tells. Me to turn this dial 255 okay. Now I'm not quite sure we're gonna see. It works fifty-five so.
That should be 5 turns ah. Another five so lined up here on the thimble we'll just turn. It to the five on the dial like. That I'll set my scale is their own we'll throw a. Few charges and then see. What we end up with okay using the instructions. And guesstimating terms. Icome up with what I was looking for 52 it's pretty amazing I'm gonna throw. Several charges and double check. And make sure but for $25 it's a pretty neat little device. Though it's made out of plastic but. You know you got to be realistic you're not going to buy. Nothing for 25 bucks. That isn't a little cheesy but. It seems to work if you're on a tight budget. Or really don't want to outlay. Or don't reload an awful lot. This may be something to look into. It is looking like it's not. That bad of a deal now I'm gonna. You know I got the adjustment right it's throwing what I want. Igot to see it repeats. It so let me throw. Some charges what I end up with okay going by the instructions.
And setting the micrometer style barrel here. Imean the first throw was very close almost right on but then it's with. Any powder measure it throw about 510 charges just throw them dump them back in the hopper then get a reading let. It settle down they threw through a. Few charges it kind of went high about four. Or five tenths but that's half of green so then. Ijust turned and then tightened. This down a little bit. Where it's throwing the charge. Iwant the weight I want so. It was very minor adjustment. And I've thrown about 20 charges. Now in two cases it varies 1/10 of a gram like. It should and the action isn't terrible the only thing I don't like is. Ican't get a tray under. This setup so I have to take. One case at a time and charge. And a plastic operates fairly smooth. You know using the fine powder so really.
You want to keep it on a budget. You know something it does work. You know though it's. All plastic you just take your time. And are careful with. It they'll probably do exactly. What you want you know it's not a wild variance. Anything like you know. Igot a little measure. Ican set and and use so. Irecommend you know. Imean yeah the more expensive measures are probably. More convenient in that but like. If you're on a limited budget. This ain't a bad deal for 25 bucks.
It out to save time. We come back I want to have. It zoomed in right here so. You can watch the needle move okay so right. Me charge a couple of cases then I'll stop. And do the rest I'll do the first five rows. You okay now I've got the first five charged. Me go ahead and bring you off the fuck tripod so. Ican show you inside here okay right there's the first five they're. All charged here's the rest of them. They are not charged. Now I'm not going to do. Anything to try to trick. Anybody that's not in my nature by. What you feel comfortable buying don't buy. Isay, so I don't like the lease safety scale. Idon't feel comfortable so. Igot the RCBS 505 so. You get what's going to make.
You comfortable I'm just showing you. What I've got so let. Me go ahead and get the rest of these charged. And I'll be right back with. You okay now I've got. All 50 cases charged so let. You move them right there I'm going to go ahead. And start checking all the weights. Now the other thing. You need to think about is the way. You throw your charges. You do not throw you charge the same way. All the time you know we'll get the exact same reading all the time so. Imay do another video to actually show actually I'm not going to do a video. Iwant to link to another video see. How like there is dead on. Iwant to link another video. Most myth has already done. This so there's no reason for me to replicate. What he has already filmed so after watching this you'll be able to find out you'll see the link to his video to.
He shows what happens. You do not throw the exact same played. All the time let this over here I've already done a row of five down the shot. You know just watch. That needle so you see them plus/minus maybe half grains. You know someone might be 61 so. It might be just a tad under six breath. This may end up being two parts. This part is kind of slow there's really no way to speed. This up CR to suicide under. Nothing that's going to make.
Lee Perfect Powder Measure
The Lee Perfect Powder Measure accurately strikes off metering chamber without cutting powder or drum binding. Easy calibration with micrometer adjustment. Includes sturdy steel mounting stand. Will drop from 2 grains to 100+ grains.
Today's mod is the for the leave perfect powder measure wanted to make a handle for making a. More positive throw. That ly perfect powder measure. It throws the accurate load. And it's its cheap well relative to. All the other powder throwers. It is very cheap so here. We go I'm going to start with machine need a piece of PVC I'll use the half-inch. Because a lot of lying around I'd have to take a measurement of your handle, so we're gonna have to drill a hole through. These actually came out to. One point for three inches. Idon't have to be exact but yeah the. More precise you are the better the end product is going to be so. One point for three inches you're going to transfer. It to the PVC just drawing a little reference line on there. Iwant to start with maybe good inch from the top. And lay out two marks. One inch from the top is the first. One point for three inches away I'm gonna make a little leather mark on that reference line.
Next you're gonna have to drill out the hole so actually next. We have to find out. What size hole so I'm gonna measure. That little extrusion on. That handle and select out a bit. They came out to 5/16 so. That 5/16 aside for now just took I'm not. Even sure what size probably about three thirty seconds. Or somewhere around there just for a pilot hole make the drilling later easier gonna drill through the two marks. When the one about an inch from the top. And the other one point for three inches from. That in the first hole I'm gonna go straight through on. Both of them be a good. You couldn't drill you know directly straight through like on the drill press.
And just too lazy to go chuck. It in the drill press so stare next we're gonna drill the 5/16 hole isn't in the topmost holes 5/16 so then. You draw all the way through. That 5/16 hole usually Auto. It through we're gonna have to open up. One of those two holes, so I'm gonna leave could always leave. One of them at 5/16. And the opposite one we're gonna I'm gonna open up as much as. We can it's about a half inch pipe, so we're gonna take. It up close to 1/2 inch just using a step drill much easier. Although this is not necessary. Ijust wanted to lighten up as much as possible. That end of the handle. Imean know if the perfect powder measure is it's really good. Imean it's only 30 bucks.
It throws a good powder. And the nearest sub. You can find for that would be at least double the price so but it's made out of plastic thin metal so. We want to keep the static weight. And handle down as much as possible, so I'm using the PVC. And trying to lighten up. Whatever we can here again. This part is not necessary. Imean you're fine with the two 5/16 holes its just again just trying to lighten up the static weight. You want to take off too much as. You want to leave some strength. Though, so I'm just going to trim off the excess here leaving maybe about a quarter inch from my 5/16 hole using some tin snips to clip away at. You can use any wire cutters. You can probably cut. It off with a wheel.
You know use some sentiment actually. Icleaned it up with. This sander a little later. Ijust rounded the edges but for now. That should do okay. One hole is done then. We got to work on the next part. We have to disassemble your handle from your perfect powder measurer. Ithought this was screwed on but looks like it's riveted so there goes the idea just unscrewing at hand. Though we're just gonna have to end up punching it out it's very thin sheet metal. You can drill it out but it's just a lot of work drilling it out so it's gonna chuck. It in the vise it with the punch. Imean it's very thin sheet metal shouldn't be a problem. It wasn't very difficult it's just. You punch out a rivet. That didn't sheet metal it's gonna it's gonna bend the limit a little bit but it's not a big problem so give it a couple squeezes in the vise.
And it's back to you so we're. All good now alright the next thing is we're gonna have to find now. Some screws and nuts. Ipicked up some screws from the hardware store. Igot eight thirty Seconds by an inch. And eight thirty seconds by two inches didn't really bother to measure. Ijust might have had. These screws from a long time ago, but he's six thirty seconds eight thirty seconds ten thirty seconds 1024. Whatever you can find as long as. It fits in that hole in the handle so. You don't have to drill at the hand on the extra work that's an eight thirty-second screw. And was an inch and 3/4 long so exci reassemble your handle there everything's good to go install your eight thirty seconds. Whatever screw you got by eight thirty seconds by. And three-quarter inches I'm gonna screw a not on there to secure.
It onto the handle I'm gonna test fit our little PVC handle at 5/16 hole goes right on the extrusion. And the other hole goes on your boat they're gonna need. Another screw therefore to adjust the spacing. That way you keep your the PVC handle parallel with a stock handle just tighten down. That first boat to the handle there. We commence adjusting. That second not so it's a parallel with your thrower have to be exact just get. It kind of close for now. And here's you should. You know he made a perfectly straight hole with two holes would be right well it's a little crooked so luckily. This PVC just run the drill bit in there. And we're streaking it out no problem. You know all the holes won't have to be precise so. You got it's just a little oval hole. Now but at least the handles straight just gonna secure. Another with another not here get a feel for how the handles gonna feel. It was just a scrap piece of PVC so. We haven't decided what the overall length was gonna be so.
This is very gonna kind of figure out. How long you want it to be along. You can make the handle the. More leverage probably the smoother the troll would be but I'm gonna go with about 6 inches to start that's the maximum length. Ican have you know to give clearance for everything else on the bench. This just scales right in front of their so. We don't have been knocking to the scale every time. We throw load so it's about 6 inches again. You know you can adjust. Any time I'm just kind of figuring this is about the maximum. Ican have here okay. We decided to cut it just a little bit. You know six inches is the maximum but not necessarily has to be. That long so and then I'm going after five. And 1/4 inches you don't have to glue the end cap on.
Ichose to do so just a little bit of Christie's on their take care of. That end cap next bar gonna fill. Some lead shot some night shot lying around so. You can use whatever. You want you need sand. Or B's or lead pellets. You know whatever you have lying around. Some old cruddy lead shot so that's gonna go in the tube. Now it's gonna add the weight to the end of the handle funnel seems to work kind of slow. Ijust had fun right adjust the weight to. Whatever you feel necessary. Whatever feels good to. You give you a good positive throw. Iended up just feeling an artery pretty much to about half inch to the to my hole there so. It out but you can add. Whatever you want in their get the weight set then just reinstall.
Everything you know get a feel for how. That handles gonna be oh yeah fill. It with hot glue on the top to keep. It keeps the lid shot down there. You can stop everyone be so wide. Some water in there at least. You can be able to pull the water out. And adjust the weight. Ididn't think I was gonna adjust. Ijust dropped some hot glue on top but in retrospect maybe. Ishould have put a piece of water in here. Idid was going paint. It took about 20 minutes for the paint to dry. Iloaded some process. Some brass there I was waiting got. It reinstalled now only thing left is to give it a test quite happy with the way. It turned out feels really good got a real positive throw every time. You move and down now maybe. This is not the best powder to try. It on but I'm gonna be loading. That next feels pretty good. You could have made. It with a steel handle.
Or aluminum fiberglass but the idea was to keep the static weight down. And put as much weight at the end as possible so the PVC pipe really worked out really well actually in the beginning tell. Me just a longer handle my leverage would be would have been better but the blood weight at the end really made. It feels good no positive through well. That should do for this video I'm gonna go load up. Some rounds after and give it a good test hopefully. It still throws as accurate. It did before I messed with. It but here's a mod for the Li perfect powder measure.
You start getting into extremely large like rifle charge with stick powder then the reviews kind of drop down so. Ijust want a little simple powder measured set. More convenient in that but like. If you're on a limited budget. This ain't a bad deal for 25 bucks.
That three in a row. It doesn't get any better. This sits this thing is going to save so much time fifty point Ohs. Imean it's just super accurate, so we're going to go to 51 zero the scale out again. Most so we're getting close. You know I just wanted to show. You guys this thing can pour almost every time. Ihave noticed there. It is 51 right on the money really easy to adjust really good deal for the money I'm sure there's better out there for you guys with progressive scales. Or progressive presses. Imean but I mean good lord. How much better does. Imean the way we used to load before. These spoons let these spoons okay.
These are the spoons. We used to use to try to get on the thing here so. This spoon here and then. Some in 48 and then. We want to get the 51. You kind of trickle. It in there just a little bit. They have these powder ticklers. You can kind of trickle in there but. And by the time you're done just for all. You can't get a consistent pour out of these not. Anything we're talking about so there's fifty point five watch there's fifty point five. That is a huge very handsome to. Idon't want to reload. That inaccurate. And then every time. Iwant 51 just go here 51 point. One that's that one-tenth of a grain I'm telling you about. It varies to one-tenth of a green 1/10 of a green is pretty acceptable to. Me boom there it is back 51 so you're not going to have flyers you're not gonna have. Anything to worry about. When you're using this it's really simple it's got an on-off so.
You can actually turn. This off it was oh. It stopped you can actually pull. This off it's not going to spill. It back down here turn. It back on you get again well at. This pours as much powder as. You want I love the way. It feeds this is a great fantastic thing if. You to add to your reloading bench. We reload for less this is my. You know you guys seen my bench before. You know this is like maybe a 80 bucks for the press pick your dice spend as much as. You want on them your dies is. Where your accuracy is really going to be different little tools. We made watch a reloading video learn about. Imay do another video with the Li perfect powder measure but. Ijust wanted to kind of rave about. It a little bit it's a great. You know great unit.
It works with spherical powders. It works with you know extruded powders just fine. Iuse vargas 4064 works fantastic. You know when you're doing it in a case. When you're throwing it in a case. You just put this up here charge. And you're good to go. You just charge it running in the put in the press. And put a bullet on. You know its great thanks for watching guys again come. And visit us anytime at the outdoors Missouri comm have a great day.

In reloading a vital part of the process is accurately dispensing the correct amount of powder into your case at our CB s. We offer several varieties of powder measures to do just. That our standard Inflow powder measure our competition powder measure. And our quick-change powder measure are three different variations they're. All three quite capable of accurately dispensing the three major powder types ball flake. And stick powders the standard powder measure platform is our unit flow. It consists of a plastic hopper a cast iron main body a hardened steel cylinder. And a metering screw assembly its function is very simple. You fill the hopper with powder adjust the depth of the metering screw assembly inside of the cylinder to change your volume raise the handle. And gravity drops the powder down into the drop tube with your case underneath it's.
That simple the metering screw is inscribed with numbers for a visual reference to make cartridge changeover quick. And easy the Inflow powder measure comes standard with a large cylinder. And metering screw assembly which is great for most applications for pistol loaders trying to spend small charges an optional small metering screw. And cylinder assembly is available the competition powder measure is based off the Inflow powder measures platform with a couple of added features. It contains a powder baffle for inside of the hopper which. More accurately disperses the powder flow. It contains a micrometer adjustment for the metering screw to give. You precise adjustment. And easier reference for recording and later reusing it also comes with.
Both large and small metering screws. And cylinders small being more desirable for the pistol loader. And lastly we have the quick change powder measure which is also based on the Inflow platform but contains a. Few unique features first. That can be pulled for easy changing of your metering screw assembly. This allows you to have multiple metering screw assemblies preset for your individual loads a quick-change powder measure comes standard with. One large one small metering screw assembly to cover a wide range of pistol.
And rifle cartridge loading. Each of these powder measures features an ambidextrous design which can be switched over for the left-handed user easily by removing the handle. And swapping the orientation of the cylinder. One can quickly and easily dispense accurate how-to charges with. Both rifle and pistol cartridges.

welcome to South Ossetian antenna today. We are reviewing the Lyman Micro Touch 1500 compact electronic reloading scale. This was from Fisher firearms. And their 140 dollars normally. Igot a 436 our price matched but somewhere else. This is a 1500 grain capacity accurate to one-tenth of a grain works in grain. Or grams fold back with. Us cover and works with AC adapters. And three Triple A batteries. And is a read big digital display with a blue back light zip front top of the box here in the price comes in a nice little tight box it's very easy to store away so it's a full size weighing acting capacity plus touchscreen technology in the advanced compact electronic scale Lyman's newest scale the Micro Touch 1500 includes. All the features much larger models combined in the state-of-the-art touchscreen controls unlike other common the highest arranged the compact size with the extra large display screen making efficient. And easy to read the fold down does curved protect. This cow when not in use the versatile 1500 includes a plug-in adapter for home bench top yes but. It runs on triple-a batteries. When at the range the Micro Touch 1500 includes its own Intel abrasion weight. And ambidextrous para pain. It has little pic on the boxes 230 volt model made in China. What you get in the box. You get is girls they get the adapters here the instructions the way. You pay in all four 136 bucks. You can change the different plugs here from 110 volts to 240 volts.
And the different plugs for us in Europe. And a year if the emptiest pan gold color hundred gram white. We have the unit here itself with a protective cover. And the writing backlit display here we'll go through the instructions before. We start up but to turn. And show you here twig turning on. One touch about to warm up see zero zero we're outside sup mate path wind drift that's not at the moment it's fairly low his screams up there's zero button. And the mode button. One touch it lights up goes to grains. And then it will shut off again, so we'll calibrate. Because holding the end off but till it's a zero legates zeroing the scale.
That have the panel. It asks for the hundred gram weight place. It on gently in the middle should be fifteen hundred. And forty-two point three in green so that's exactly. What you want every time fifteen hundred. And forty-three point two so. Once that's done take. It off can place a scale on. It should go to zero as. It says they're placing the pan on. And weighing the pin 123. It says point one two sometimes wind on 123. And zero dip it has stopped we've just turned. And heaven rabbit to warm up. It does have a memory apparently. You can actually leave. It set up for the first 24 hours we're sitting and. It will remember you turn off. What the fluctuations were. And becomes more accurate so won't be keep on going 1 2 3 4. And so forth once it's settled just push the zero button go back to zero go back to the grains. Now should be really ready to wait your powder charges. Or was your weights to light up. Iwill say 15 for 32 which is exactly.
What it is to the dot. And so it's within the. One tenth of grain you just wanna weigh projectiles. Something without the pain remove the pain thanks. One twenty-three point zero was. One twenty-three point four before. It says every ten cartridges. If you're loading it will say to resume every time to get the consistency back. If a drifts once it's like. You can place it back on softly in the middle it'll light back up understanding the same again so. This is really good, so I'm very happy with the line. All start loading progressively on my Dylan press. And using the scale in conjunction on every charge to see. What it gives and tells.
What my little impress is actually charging me every time. This is just so now get rid of. Some tea — Isaac Sparrow. And then go to the — 208. And then see what differences in powder brains. That would go going through the instructions here. It says congratulations for your purchase of the alignment scale. This is before using it pleases read instructions. And familiarize yourself with the instructions the display is the scale is equipped with a back light touch screen display touch screen keys include on/off which turns on the scale on. It also use for calibration 0 which tears. And zeros the scale in the mode which is the scale from grains its grams setting up the scale select the location 1500. This is a level and stable. It is recommended that scale be low decayed.
And away from the loading bench equipment. And the press which the bench was not heavy enough to prevent vibrating being transferred to the scale should also be positioned away from the source of drafts the air currents temperature changes the 1500 is sensitive enough to affect. These conditions plug the power adapter into the outlet connect scale. This scale can also run three Triple A batteries to install the batteries remove the cover up the bottom play install the batteries so. That the negative ends are against Springs the scales equipped with clear plastic dust cover the cover can be inch back. And scale in use is recommended. That the cover be closed from the scales not in yes the first used it's recommended to ten scale on layout to run for 24 hours. This will help it stabilizes to its surroundings. It says notice when you're turning the scale on. It will remember it was last run in the grain. Or gram program and lock in.
This setting next time is turned to allow. One minute to run time before changing mode sings calibration which. Idid go three of holding the on button until. It changes to zero now press the drive button to reset the scale to zero press down the on. And off button until the display shows zero then release. This gal or them fresh 100 place the supply 200 gram calibration weight on the platform the powder pan should not be on the scale. This gal now show 15 for 32 grains on the display removed 200 gram weight. It will display approximately zero point zero grain to operation place the empty powder pen onto the platform.
And press the zero button the scale is. Now ready to weigh para the scale can be changed to display the grains of grams as desired as I've showed. You it's really recommended. You zero the button occasionally after ten loads measured ensure the scale is maintaining zero at. All times the spray is off zero. When an empty powder pen is on the platform the scale is equipped with a auto shutoff feature. When the batteries are in use the scale will auto shut off in four minutes of non-use to save battery the display will show low to indicate load battery condition to shut off the scale press the off button cautions. Inever leave the Scout loaded for a long period of time damage to the load cell always calibration wait.
Or load gently into the scale dropping the weight may cause damage to. And they're not trying to set disassemble the scow. You will break it has a 12-month warranty — limited warranty from environment products on the back tears is don't pull pry the platform damaged be careful not to spill powder on a platform the body. It will cause the readings to be fluctuating a lot. And then some specs of. That 6 volt DC power adapter three Triple A batteries. And units of grains. And grams and capacity accuracy is — 100 grams plus. Or minus one alright so going to use. This Lyman and measure. Some of my projectiles to see.
If there are 150 55. And also 69 grain Ciera Mitch Kings. It matches up gonna measure a couple of bullets here. What it says they are 150 58 — their point — over their recommended 553 their point — lists with. One here's one fifty-five point seven point two off a hundred fifty-five point eight three off 150 six point. One fifty-five point nine point four behavior don't know why the reason for. That is a hundred fifty-five point eight so it's fairly consistent always going back to zero not creating at the outside hundred fifty-five point seven. One hundred and fifty-five point four five it's so. That ones on the money 155 seats I'm gonna push the zero button. What happens right 1155 point three nine fifty-five point seven twenty hundred fifty-five point seven it's got a little topping if.
It flashed and then. It went solid Sierra's here 42 3. It is 69 grains exactly that's exactly. What their one sixty-nine point. One grains which is really good sixty-nine point. One exactly there's a really good see really good bullets. These are optimal diets as different manufacturing in our area 69. One ball you can tell. That they're quality perspective is really good exactly again sixty-nine point. We can also try re calibration zero alway the same bullets chips in the home port. One which is what they were 69 69 exactly 61 again starting to fluctuate. This unit has just been running straight hasn't been on for a long time so it's working straight away doesn't have to warm up, so we'll try. It again but with the power connector. You can see what difference. That makes in the pistol loads. Now 38 zippers it should be. Ithink 48 grains to sing for when.
It got to five point two which is max lights up 48. And the Dylan with the pistol is very accurate consistent still T a tantrum right has got a little bit of wind in here so a tent its good stays on 0 no fluctuations at. All you'll see if there is a little bit of wind. It will flesh I'm gonna go solid its good touch 49 that's pretty close anyway to. What I want just a couple. More tweaks on the liver. And the back and just. Another point three gray 48. And with 49 before a little bit of wind moved up. And down staying on for point it's pretty good as. Imove the RAM it did move shove. One in there it's normally. Another way Howard ticket is put to light. And then see if they go to exact same number of 96 there hasn't been much of a variant Li. It says 123 point and it's. What it was when it's off. It goes on the same just 96 before so it's still. One pimp it goes up nine point six so that's throwing consistent so.
Now I'm going to change the dial. And go to five point two which is next slide 435 round those let predict down okay, so I've changed my mind I'll go to five point zero which is. What it was anyway and it's only point to off empty case 49 on the five. Now not changing place a pair to build a bit recharge on the five in the after a little bit change bit being on a farewell Nia five tests a bullet. And 36-point 136 and 369 consider. It to test via 50 thrown out chat see. It is 210 knowing what you know. Iget a little bit see. That does anything 10. And I'm putting a bit 51 II guesses I'll keep slowly adding a bit. It's gonna give there so that's in the further review thanks for watching you.

RCBS® Powder Trickler-2
Many electronic scales have scale pans positioned out of reach of powder tricklers. This trickler solves that problem. Its height-adjustable, nonskid base and powder tube extension make it compatible with modern electronic and digital scales.

Or your cases whatever just. You know easy and easy out right so it's going close up on. What it looks like alright so you'll notice there's there's basically there's four kind of major components here you've got your beam the body the I'm not sure the technical name of. This but this is kind of your weighted tray but then. You have your tray here. That actually holds like your powders. Or cases or bullets. Whatever you want to weigh so. This just hangs off the beam. Or the RCBS 5:05 is really it's pretty maintenance-free the only thing. Ilike to do is I like to take a little paper towel. Some Rommel and just a little shot not much on my paper towel. Ijust like to keep. This rod that goes through the balance beam just foiled not not dripping with oil but just a little bit of just a coat just a little coat of oil. That allows you know keep the rust away things like. It is metal so and then to assemble.
It pretties simple it just sort of twists in their like so be careful not to bend. Anything up this just hangs right here. Now to zero your scale you've got a zero there a zero there. And of course a zero here so it's really just about as simple as. That let's get a close-up here on. Some of these some of these things. We can do with and show. Few things here okay so first things first. We want to zero out. This scale and notice here the tray is swinging so. Ijust take my finger. And just let that bump on my finger until. It stops slowly pull my finger away. And we're good now over here you'll notice we're actually just a little bit high above the line above the zero line so. All we're going to do is. We can just screw this little foot pad. Either up or down let's so take. It to the extreme here so. What I'm talking about so. Now we're way below. And there you go we're just about right on. What I like to do is.
Ilike to just kind of bump. This around a little bit make sure. All of my measuring marks here are still. All on zero let that bump my finger just so it's pretty steady there. Icome back here and take a look at. And we're just about a half a line away from zero, so we'll play with. That just a little bit. More let it come back. And settle make sure. You don't have much swing over here on the tree. And there we are just dead nuts right there on zero so to show. How sensitive this is I'm going to take just a little bit of powder put. This in my powder trickler here RCBS powder trickler which. You don't have one of these.
Isuspect you'll be getting one soon they're very nice they're pretty cool so let's just let's just put a couple granules down in. This tray here okay I've got five little tiny granules in here. And I'll show that in just a second but. You look over here we are about a line above the zero five little tiny granules of powder they're trying to get them so. You can see them here anyways. Either way not much in their right very sensitive scale so. One thing you can do here is actually weighed cases. It doesn't work really well for real large cases but. It does work pretty good for some short action stuff pistol cases. Whatever so we can kind of play around with. This here up another tenth, so we're pretty darn close right there at let's see. One fifty sixty seventy six point three so. This particular case is. One seventy-six point three grains.
When you're sorting your brass you'll you'll you'll find out. You usually have three different weights. Or weight categories you'll have. Some real heavy. That are kind of right in the middle in. Some way down a low-end but you'll at least be able to sort them out. That was so another thing we can do here is just measure. Some bullet weights right so. This happens to be a Remington. This is from my nine-millimeter 115 grain bullets. What we've done is we've set. This up to 110 plus the 5. And 0 so 115 grains we'll just set. This in here you can verify the actual bullet weight of your bullets. You can do this from locked a lot. You may find some discrepancies in. Each bag, so we're just a little bit low so. How much does this actually weigh well let's drop. This down to 124 uh 114 let's go 114 point eight so look. It up there we're actually a hundred. And fourteen point eight on.
Another way to really. You know figure out. You know the actual weights of your cases. And your powder and your bullets. That stuff even weigh your primers. You want to there are. Some real crazy folks out there no offense. If you're one of them who actually weigh their primers. Idon't find any benefit in. Some people do so but. This is really cool to be able to do. You can base on the information. You get from you can really dial down on your load development. And that's very important okay so real quick just so. You know how to read. This particular scale is you've kind of got your big numbers here. That graduate in ten. This here graduates per grain. This small one here is your tenth of a grain. You know it's its its pretty simple. You know you want 100 grains. Or 100 point two grains. Or 100 point or 102 point to let's say so. One hundred two point two it's pretty simple.
Idon't know what you'd shoot with 102 point two buts. Whatever, so I've owned a couple of different electronic scales I've owned the are CBS. And the Hornet II also the powder scale. And dispenser and I'm not I'm not a fan to be honest I'm just not a couple different problems number. Ican actually do this faster on. This scale and there was a small group of. We were getting ready to head over to Idaho do. Some shooting over there at a big long-range deal. Each to load like 200 rounds apiece, so we're. You know we're 600 rounds. We set up the quantity at the time. And I'm not knocking horny has a lot of good products. One here I was just not very happy with but. You know we'd set. All up dial you know zero the scale. It would dispense the powder. And then poop overcharge the alarm goes off oh crap pork back on the top hit. It again and overcharge pour. It back in hit it again. And finally we got so frustrated with.
We went back to the to. This scale here so the other problem. We found is they say. That they're supposed to be accurate with a tenth of a grain. This here proved that it's. Then tenth of a grain for sure. You know it's electronics. Whatever I sold them. And I'm just sticking with. One here I've also used the Lee. That comes in the kit. You can buy it separately the Lee scale. Ido like it's actually it's incredibly accurate it's its just as accurate as. All day long the problem. Ihad with it is it's not as it's not as user-friendly with the cool little with the cool little slide pieces here a little bent in pieces. You can slide back and forth.
Ilike the user-friendliness of. This better than the Lee but. Ihad to use a Lee and only could usually at least. Iwould know for sure. Everything I put in. That tray is exactly. What it's supposed to be it's very accurate, so I'm not knocking. Ihaven't used any other balance beams out there. Iknow there's a lot of companies. That make them and I've heard good things about them it's pretty hard to screw up a balance beam scale so. Either way you do have a balance beam. Iwould recommend if you're looking for absolute precision. Iwould highly recommend. Ialso don't recommend things like oh the. These here the powder dumpers they're. You know they're okay. They work they get. You close but the problem with them is the type of powder so.
If you've got ball pattern. You know the spherical. Or the stuff that looks like broken pencil add. And little flake powder. It doesn't run through. And the powder can stack differently. And so the volume the weight. And volume can change depending on how. That powder stacks and you'll find yourself you're you're off a little bit. When you're now I'm just talking about precision stuff right I'm not talking about. You want to just load up. Some two to three and just go plankin. That stuff's going to get. You really close and you're fine. You know use the hell out of. It's fine for that but. If you're looking and so are the electronic ones they're they're okay for. That too but if you're looking for absolute precision down to the tenth of a grain.
You want it to be spot-on every single time for every single load. You want your cases to be sorted as accurately as possible there really isn't a better way. Than the balance beam at least in my opinion. And that's been my experience. Now for about five years. That I've I've consistently come back to. And just kind of ditch the rest of. Because there was the little inconsistencies there so. You start getting stuff like you're extreme spread goes high. Or the standard deviation is high which two. And two usually go ahead. And hand their butt. It just little anomalies. And weird stuff like. You can usually come back to. And go okay well let's just double check. This type of scale you can find. That your your powder throws.
And your powder charges. And the other stuff is off so anyways. This was long-winded but. You do get a balance beam. This is kind of a must-have. This happens to be our CBS it's its got just a little bit of tip to. It slowly comes down. This tube here know. You can see that but inside there is. It basically looks like it's its threaded like. You could screw bolt in their right. That just grabs that powder. And just walks it down as. You spin and inside there's a little hole there. It just picks the powder up. And slowly just walks. You know you trickle. That in it's usually just dropping you know between. And three little granules at a time. These little lis dippers. All the time you know. You can buy a huge set of these. II have not the whole set but. Ihave ones that work for me. That for the stuff I load for you know. It out put you know put. It the tray and then but. Iusually I find the little scooper here.
That is throws me just below. What I'm actually looking for and then. Ifollow it up by just trickling in the last couple granules of powder to bring me up to my full charge. What I'm looking for and so. They kind of go hand actually. All three of these kind of go hand in hand. Iwould highly recommend. If you're if you're looking at absolute precision loads for long range. And very consistent performance as far as the speed goes. You know if you're looking to shoot 3000 feet per second. You want to get now you're always going to have a little variation back. And forth but you want. It to be you want that gap to be as narrow as possible so. That your extreme spreads. And your standard deviations are way low the only way in my experience to get.
That is to go with a system like. Where it's truly mechanical. You have as much control as possible you're not relying on electronics the other thing. That even say on. Some electronic ones is fluorescent tube lighting can can throw. Ihave experienced that myself. It to too close to it to a light. Or an outlet the I don't know. If it's the electrical current electromagnetic field. Whatever but it screws. It up so it's just not worth. Me so anyways I'm not trying to bash. They do work they do work okay for you know for plankin. Iwould not use it for precision but. Either way so anyways. These helps and kind of marching along in our little reloading series here. One of these days we'll actually get to put the bullet together. And go out to the range.
And fire but there's so much of. This little stuff you have to pay attention to be able to go out there. And be precise so you're not coming off the range. You know I'll pissed off. Because stuffs not working right so. You got to take care of. This little stuff because it'll make a big difference in the end so believe. It for far too long. You start buying boxes. And bullets all kinds of brass. And trying this and trying. And come to find out. Something as simple as. You thought oh the boats garbage. Or the cases or garbage other primers are garbage so anyways. All through some links down the comments. Or down in the description box below put. Some links in there for you. This has been informative. And we'll we'll see. You soon I'm sure so hey. You liked it gives it a thumbs up share. It tries to get this channel moving it's its kind of bumping along, but we're getting there so hey thanks for watching appreciate the subscriptions the comments the commentary it's.
All been great so we'll see. You soon folks thanks you.
Whatever you want many grains of a charge. You want you'll set your powder measure to come in just under. That say a tenth of a grain under. Or two tenths of a grain under. And you'll charge your case. It in the pan you can put the charge directly in the pan. You choose to do and then. You take this powder trick look the way. It works is this is basically like it's a threaded tube on the inside it's like an auger kind of like a reverse. Whether it's thread not exactly like an auger but. You know what an auger is you'll kind of get the idea. What I mean and then as a whole in. That tube in there you take your powder whichever powder you're using pour. It in there fill up. That little hopper which. Idon't need to fill right. Now for this demonstration but that's enough.
It next to your scale. Iwill not use the base right. Now I'll just show it works. You do is you turn. This little screw this little handle counterclockwise on. This particular model. Idon't know how other companies work. It does is it travels down. That tube until it starts coming out. It takes a minute for it to come out but there. You go just start seeing individual granules coming out you'll get. One granule at a time maybe two. And that's you increase your charges. You can move and really get them come out faster but the point is to get your charge close with the regular powder measure. And then you just kind of use. This to just get that up perfectly. This allows you to get a a dead-on charge every time. If you're doing maximum charge as. It right to that maximum.
You you know you are looking for and you're good to go far as like. Isaid before precision rifle cartridges. You want them to be super consistent. It doesn't have to be a max charge. It could be a minimum charge anywhere in between but. You want to be super consistent so you'll do the same thing you'll set the charge on your powder measure to drop. It just under and then go up to the perfect charge with your tricular that's. It works a couple things. Ireally like about. It comes with this extension which is nice and. This base which is nice. You have say an electronic powder scale a lot of them are saying roughly the size of. This box and you'll have a pan on top of there. You don't have this extension in. This base then obviously it's not going to do. Any good you a lot of them don't have room for a powder trickler sit on top the scale so. That kind of doesn't help so the extension. You just use a set screw.
That little grub screw there. That tightens it on there. And that's threaded as well. This base you look at. This base I don't know. If you'll be able to see. It it says scale on the base right here. Idon't know you can see. Iapologize you can't but. It says scale there it's easy to see in in person. This is actually tilted downwards. That way so you set your spouts facing the weight. It says to face the scale. And will actually point. That spout just ever so slightly downward. That helps you to get your granules out without fighting gravity. And then that will help. You with a scale that's electronic that's a little taller. And the pan is a little further in it's also nice. You have a taller scale let's say is too tall for this to reach. This base is actually adjustable.
This is not something. That comes with every powder scale. This actually is threaded. You can raise this up about. Another three quarters of an inch higher. All the way down so. That gets you up on pretty much. Anything you want it to reach so it's a really nice unit. Idon't know how the other ones are. All made as far as their bases. And stuff some of them have tall bases. And they're just one size. Some of them may not have a base at. Some of them are made out of plastic. Ithink the horny one is made out of plastic. One is metal it's a nice quality unit. Even the base the base is weighted I'd say probably weighs. Idon't know order six ounces it's it's not it's not as light as.
You would think it's got a metal weight in the bottom so. It it's a nice quality powder trickle. Idon't think I've seen. One that's any nicer. Any better this so that's. It works and the last I'm going to show. This little powder Powell funnel pan. Me along with it essentially. It takes the place of the the pan on here. Now I'm not quite sure why now. This is not for mechanical beam scales a must for electronic scales. Idon't understand what difference. That would make this way simply on weight so. Idon't understand what the reasoning is behind. Idon't see it would change. Anything if you guys know. Any particular reason for. That please tell I don't see. Any particular reason why. That would make a difference but. That allows you to do is pour your powder into your pan. And instead of using a powder funnel. And having to move the powder funnel from pan de pan I'm sorry from case to case. You pour one instead of having a. That just kind of takes the place of the powder pan.
And the funnel at the same time. You can just take the powder after you've poured. It in there and pour. It in your case and you're good to go so those are two gifts. That a viewer sent and it's awesome like. Iwas humbled this helps. You guys out you new guys to reloading well maybe not have have not heard of a powder trickler. Or we're kind of curious as to. They work or why you should own. One they're a great thing to have so. Everybody you enjoyed. And we'll catch you on the next. One thanks for watching bye.
You have this knob. And there's a hole in. This stem okay which feeds powder in. And the powder will eventually come out. This end here okay I have to do is basically turn. This knob it a little bit to kind of put the powder let. It kind of get into. That hole and start coming out the end of the nozzle. Idon't know what you want to call. Idon't have any there's. Some powders they started trickling out. You may not be able to see. It on camera but there is powder trickling and it's like a. Few flakes at a time. Ikeep doing this what will end up happening is. That my powder is increasing inside my scale. And it's causing me to add. You know obviously add. More powder which is the whole object of. You can't just get the powder just right on a rifle round. What some people do is.
They load just a little bit below. What they should have so it's a little bit below the zero. And then they trickle the rest of the powder in to make sure. That the powder measure. That goes into the casing is perfect every time the. More accurate your powder measure is as far. How much powder you have in the casing the. More accurate your round is going to be. This comes into play. When we're start talking about competition matches. Or in distance shooting and. Even hunting if I want to make sure. That deer that coyote. Whatever that I'm hunting so it's important to. Me but basically that's. How the trick works. And that's just a basic thing and like. Isaid of basically just turning this.
And then powder it is trickling into my tray. You can probably see. It being added there maybe. It just keeps adding and adding and that's. How it's done guys quick video. Iknow but hopefully. That helps some people on what to do with a powder trickler. And maybe what maybe. What brand they may want to choose. Ihad umpteen different brands to show. Ijust have what I have but that's the whole idea of doing youtube. You like what you see please subscribe. You have any questions about reloading or. You want to see me do a video make a comment talk to.
This trickler can actually throw out the powder as. You can see trickle. And trickle it is just dropping out a little bit here. And there couple little individual grains at a time. Iwas killing Tilly well here. We go see you can really just fine-tune. It just like that would. You want to stay here. This for a whole load no but. You dump your charge. You need a little bit. More out of you can go back to. And ahead an individual amount well turned off on. Me so that's gonna read but overall. Ithink it's a nice addition to my humble little reloading attempt here teamed with a good scale. Ialso have this Lea scale here which. Ihave gotten it to work but it's just never let. Me just say that the usage on. This isn't very easy. It just takes a lot. More time just they deal with but by going ahead.
And using a trickler. If I'm not sure about a load. Iwant to make some real hot 10-millimeter loads like. Irecently got into. Ican go back and add just a humble amount. Ican get it close with my automatic powder measure. Ican go ahead and get out. You know say I need point three grains well. It rights there it's a little hard with. These disks in that auto measure to get a accurate load wait for your reloads so by doing. It gives you a little bit. More versatility the RCBS dump. This out here, so I'm going off camera for a second yeah it's real easy to clean out. Everything and get a little bit in there but I'll crush.
It put a little bit later but the internet itself breaks on its pretty easy components. You basically just have. You have the base which is adjustable for height so. You have a different scale. You can get damn here Wow about an inch. Some change in height added height which. You never know what kind of scale you're going to use so. That gives you versatility -. And then the body itself is. What I assume is some cast aluminum. Some kind of doesn't look like a real high quality steel. Anything it's just it's obviously like a cast pop metal potentially but it's good it's it'd be better. Then plastic and especially.
You got a manual part sitting there turning like. And then you got a little collar here. And then you got your extension piece which. You tighten that down. Ididn't have it tied down for ease of showing in the video but as. You can see there it's a real simple device. Or design it has a little hole there. And it's set at a slight angle. It just sits there and twist. And twist into us until. It screws out there is. Idon't know you can see. It in there it is kind of threaded in there which helps guide the powder down. Ithink it'd be a really good addition really good addition so thanks for watching and hopefully. Ican really push some Magnum loads with. Some added safety and get out to the range a little bit. More alright thanks for watching.

It has a large hopper which is capable of holding approximately a pound of smokeless powder. And secondly it contains a spring-loaded knob on the side of the cylinder.
