La Sportiva Nepal Cube GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's
The La Sportiva Men's Nepal Cube GTX Mountaineering Boot isn't just for the high-minded alpine adventurers amongst us. New this season, the Nepal Cube takes a lighter approach to versatile warmth in a mountaineering boot than its older sibling, the Nepal Evo GTX. While both boots use Gore-Tex to guarantee your foot's dry ride, the Cube loses a full four ounces without taking away any warmth or capability. Whether you're summiting the Grand (Teton, that is), performing telecom magic in the middle of winter, or trekking high and low over many miles, this leather boot gives you a dry and flexible ride.
Rugged Idro-Perwanger leather gets shot full of 3.2mm silicone to create a robustly water-resistant and flexible outer. An air-injected rubber rand creates a durable connection between the top and bottom of this technical boot. Laces tease your toes and weave their way up the boot through locking D rings to help the boot keep a firm grip on your foot. The Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort lining does more than guarantee waterproof and breathable kicking; it adds heat to your hoofers so hiking across snow-covered flats doesn't turn your toes into icicles. In addition, the 4mm Carbon Tech honeycomb footbed uses air to further insulate your foot without adding weight to keep you high-stepping for hours on end.
This tongue lets fresh air refresh your ankles while giving you the option to customize the boot fit with a removable piece. The 3D Flex tech improves your stability over contorted terrain. The graded polyurethane midsole starts at a whopping 2mm thick in the heel and tapers into a whisper of plastic by the time it reaches your toes. The Impact Brake System turns hard-wearing Vibram into directionally opposed lugs to give your footsteps traction on the way up and the way down.

La Sportiva Trango Tower GTX Mountaineering Boot - Men's
A far cry from the bulky alpine boots of yesteryear, the La Sportiva Men's Trango Tower GTX Mountaineering Boot offers ultralight warmth and support to help you scale towering peaks in remarkable comfort—relatively speaking, at least. After all, if you don't suffer a little, then the mountain wasn't big enough.
Gore-Tex Performance Comfort keeps your foot dry when you get caught off-guard by a freak snowstorm in the middle of summer, but still breathes well to keep you from overheating at lower altitudes. The rugged upper with Honey-Comb reinforcements withstands the roughest punishment the mountain can dish out. PU in the midsole offers support and cushioning when moving over rocky terrain, and EVA inserts decrease weight while still absorbing impacts and providing excellent rebound. Rounding it out is a Vibram One outsole for reliable traction on precarious ridgelines and the durability needed to withstand season after season in the high alpine. This sole is also equipped with an Impact Brake System for better control on descents.

Extreme conditions the gloves are built. With outdoor research radiant fleece. It's a 100 weight fleece material and it. Lines the back of this glove the outside is a really smooth brushed material so. It's gonna slide easily into another glove if you need to and it keeps a pretty sleek and athletic profile, so they're very simple minimalist gloves something that's a little different compared to standard liner gloves these. Hi I'm christian athlete manager for. Outdoor research and these are the mute sensor gloves new 4 2015 the mew clubs. Are warm and waterproof making them. Perfect for back country or lift serve ski the waterproof breathable venture. Insert protects your hands from wet weather or melting snow also the inderal. Off synthetic insulation provides warmth for lift rides or at the top of your. Transition i think my favorite feature is a sensor technology this allows for. Gloves on use of phones and other touchscreen electronics the foam panels. On the back of hand provided little added insulation as well as some impact. Protection on a bushwhack out of an early back country ski the new gloves are. Quickly becoming my favorite descents kegel they're warm and waterproof delivered in a stylish and high performance package.
Hey everyone its ivan hippodrome here to. Bring you another gear review and today we're talking about gloves these guys right here these are the outdoor research backstop gloves about four. Years ago while under ployment overseas it's trying to figure out some sort of gloves to eat my hands warm and there's. No magical glove that's going to keep your hands warm aside from like giant expedition mitts and it's a non-starter because it's need. To be operated weapon these definitely. Not the glove i want to be shooting pistol you can totally manipulate a rifle with them which works but it's kind of that happy medium like yeah i could use a pistol if i need to with them could definitely use a rifle and do. A pretty good job keeping my hands warm especially when the winds blowing these. Backstop gloves are made of two different materials as you can see by the inside this brown material is there. Radiant fleece does a really good job of keeping you warm and then this black material is actually gore windstopper. Material so across the whole back side. Ie backstop you have this wind stopper. Material and on the inside you have the radiant fleece this is the older model. And as you can see these first two fingers thumb and across the palm you. Have this silicon material does a really. Good job of kind of creating that tacky feeling to grab a hold of things especially glass something that would otherwise slip if you're trying to grab it with this pretty smooth fleece the. Newer which they sell now which is the. Sensor backstop as a sensor material little pad right here on your index. Finger as well as on your thumb for using any capacities screens like your. Smartphones stuff along those lines and then the new one also has a little bit. Of silicone up here on your three fingers rather than just these first two. One thing as far as a keeley's heel. Right here there's this little clip so. You can clip both of your gloves together keep them there and this is just like a little piece of leather you can see stretching out what invariably happens. Are you grab one of your gloves in your pack and you're like oh perfect they're connected start pulling it gets caught in this little piece of leather rips and. Then it's worthless a nice workaround i. Would love to see is either 550 cord. Loop or even just this zone right here to where you have almost like a buttonhole that you could just punch a carabiner through and clip them together that way the newer ones also with your. Sensor backstop right across here you. Have a little bit of elastic help keep the cuffs closed and not let any wind. Through the cuff since i purchased these. Gloves they've done a great job for me even if you get your hands wet ideally. Just splash with water as opposed to submerged they're still gonna keep that. Chill off your hands more than if you didn't have any gloves they still do a fairly good job insulating even if they get damp and as. I mentioned dexterity wise you can still. Do a number of tasks like whether it's manipulate zippers buckles on equipment. Or manipulating your rifle anything like that do a good job, and they're keeping. Your hands not necessarily warm because. That's starting with the core like keep your core warm and then your hands will probably stay warm but what they do with the wind stopper material is keep. That heat from getting ripped off your hands and that's important another use i. Found for them living up in idaho up in. The panhandle is running in the winter. Running along trail it's cold that wind. Keeps it from biting into your hands makes it much more enjoyable or even. Cruising around on a bike your hands they're not moving and keeping the wind. From just biting straight into them they do a good job with that best place to pick these guys up is amazon you can. Find them depending on size-wise they're black as well as kind of coyote tan and range anywhere from about 27 bucks. To about 39 bucks but good pair of. Gloves for kind of all-around just. Keeping your hands insulated especially in any type of windy conditions as always thanks for joining us to keep our calm look forward to seeing you next.
Designed for high-energy activities to act as your liner the outdoor research. Backstop sensor gloves are a great. Option for those colder weather pursuits where you need good breath ability but proper wind protection as well let's take a look at some of their features so. This glove is constructed with a combination of gore windstopper fabric. And outdoor researches radiant fleece so. The back of the hand is going to have that wind stopper layer and it's a highly breathable completely windproof liner and it's highly watered resistant as well so that's gonna line the back of. The hand where you're gonna find that most of that wind is going to try to penetrate the materials but it's gonna offer that really good protection and the palm of the glove is designed with the radiant fleece so that's giving it. That really good breath ability while offering some nice comfortable warmth as well so you've got a really good combination of materials here that are. Gonna give ample protection but breath ability and comfort as well some. Other features we have in the gloves are some silicone grip here on the palm and. The fingers and as the name suggests it. Is a touch screen it's you know. Compatible gloves so the thumb and the index finger on each glove are you know. Usable with touch screen device so. Really works well it's surprisingly you. No efficient and works really easily with touch screen items so again. These were designed to be those gloves for trail running for snowshoeing nordic. Skiing any activity where it's going to be highly aerobic and you're going to be generating some good body heat but the backs of your hands are going to be subject to the wind and you want that extra protection so it's going to give that protection right where you need it and that's what we've got there the outdoor research men's backstop sensor. Gloves. You.
All right i am going to do a quick review in the uhd of the new outdoor. Research flurry sensor gloves they go 40. Bucks these are the excels they're good for 25. To 40 degrees or negative 4 to 4 degrees. Celsius leave that sound set not used to. The Celsius stuff but these are the. Flurry gloves which are very highly rated on amazon and assorted other sites. But they have the sensors so you can use. Then with your phone and tablets and such while you're out camping or I'm. Gonna use these for work mainly because i work nights and it's getting towards. Winter time and i do have to use my phone a lot to write down times and such. And so on texted people you know what's. Going on anyhow their alpine wool plus fabric. Tissue alpine wool breathable that's good. Wicking moisture wicking silicone grip. Palm and they do fit pretty snug they're. Not tight but they're really good. So far I've just tried him out a little bit on the way home i got him over at rei i mean sorry no it was feathered. Friends here in seattle i didn't notice them at rei you're kind. Of overwhelmed at their flagship store so anyhow let's get down to business it. Has the touch stuff right here and right. Here on your thumb so let's try it out. Works I'm recording this on my phone or. Else I'd show you more I'm not pushing. Hard I'm just doing like i would normally do with you know just by. Fingers xbox games this is a very this. Is the first surface so but as you can. Now that's in there they don't have much for the. First surface nowadays this is the cheapest version so let's see i haven't. Used this in a while actually so there. We go they could do videos tv shows I'm. Trying to do this too oh wait sorry using this finger that is. Not the test one so that's it no touch. This is with the touch oh cancel i mean. Very fine my stuff see it's working. Wow that's all the movies they have on. The first one huh tv store. Well as you can see it works and it. Works just as well i can almost type as well with these on. As i can without them on almost i make. A few more mistakes I'll be honest but that's just because I'm not used to the size my finger isn't usually this big. But i don't know why i went to camera. It's not real touchscreen stuff on the. Camera but they are great they fit. Really well they got this nice silicone on here they actually stick out quite a. But so it does give you a really good grip you see that so it's like you're. That they are really good the. Wool feels nice and warm again it's not. Near cold enough where I'd need these. But they fit really well has that nice leather accent there and the little pull string that all the or gloves seem to. Have nowadays nice and signia they're. Grippy stuff creepy stuff grippy stuff. Everywhere she does all that in and out. Works really well so if you're looking. For something to use your cell phone and. Still keep your hands warm down to around 25 degrees then these could be. The gloves for you and I'm really. Curious to see how they hold up over time have a great one.

Mountain Equipment Randonee Glove. These are winter weight, waterproof and warm glove designed for when to walk in mountaineering skiing possibly. This is then on the back they have a look back. Here is a tough nylon, on the part they have cow skin where the waterproofing comes from. Main equipment own dry. Lightly extreme membrane and they as well have the black area on the back is a stretch panel for improved fit. They as well have pre-curved figures which you can see. This also gives a really good fit.
One of the features I really like is the tips of the fingers have a section of leather rolled over this means that is there're no seams on the very ends of the fingers. So it makes it much easier to do things with the gloves pick things up. Things like that it also means that it is much more durable the tips of the fingers. There they've got a slot white on the thumb. They're a decent size and the elastic script go around your wrist inside the glove. On the palm of the hand, they have a soft fleece lining. On the back of the hand, they have a deep pile line. In properties work well to keep you really warm. These are a really warm glove. The pile lining keeps you warm even if it's soaking wet. I mean since I've used then I own had any water again but just from being too warm the sweat for my hands will make them a bit wet, but they're still been super warm.
The reason they've used the thinner fleece on the pan is just for increased dexterity, so you haven't got big gaps between your hand and whatever. It is you're trying to hold it also the palm of your hands sweat a bit more than the rest of you or sweats more than the back of the hand so the lighter form of insulation there are looks well. As you can see I have a really good fit and clear just the cuff just 104 just to give a nice snug fit around it. These are a really good book I really do like this. For well anything wet and cold they are perfect tribal them just at the start. This year for winter and I've used them. For this winter I'm not too concerned. About the durability of them because. They are a really well-known really highly regarded gloves so I'm sure they're going to last me a long time but I just thought yeah I've got some. Excellent features and if you're looking for a winter weight grab the definitely worth look.

Today we are we talking about the mountain equipment rondon a glove this is a new one from mountain equipment beautiful design on these as well now there's a shoulder dry skin extreme on the back of. The hand on the palm this is petard. Armor tan leather they make several. Different grades of the petard it's still goat skin still very soft very supple yet very durable and water-resistant by grain of the leather this is just a little bit tougher and stronger than there aren't than their oil tack whether they use on the really grippy climbing gloves it shares the. Three part thumb with the super alpine. Glove it's got the snot wipe on the. Bottom of the thumb so you can kind of you know suck back some snot when you're on the lift or when you're touring somewhere sure low dry skin extreme there and then the leather going across the front of the thumb so it's still very dexterous on the inside of the glove there's this wonderful pile lining it's almost like sticking your hand in a rabbit glove like rabbit lion glove it's just a super soft feeling teflon. Reinforced new-school hook and loop velcro cuff incredibly warm incredibly. Comfortable these would be for me good. Today we're gonna be talking about the guide glove for mountain equipment this is a very nicely designed glove and at 50 dollars you really can't beat this glove it is. Completely waterproof using mountain. Equipment dry light membrane it's highly waterproof highly breathable with. A micro pile lining insert kind of that kind of rabbit kind of rabbit fur style. Feeling on the inside very warm, and they bond it inside there so when you pull your hand out the lining doesn't move around your hands so when other gloves are a soggy mess and are difficult to get off these will slide on and off with ease many times the grey portion here is a nice nylon material and the back is a stretch panel so the glove will move and articulate very nicely this is a cowhide. Leather palm not the tarts this is gonna be very durable for the guy so I'm doing a lot of belays just a very tough leather glove rolled fingers for added dexterity and then give you a little extra leather on the tips of the fingers which decrease dexterity a little bit but increased durability if you're having to grab rocks or anything like that while you're climbing or using ski poles snot wipe on the bottom of the. Glove nylon on the top part of the thumb and three-part thumb that shares design. With all their other gloves fantastically well-designed well-thought-out pre articulated fingers for. Dry enough for ice climbing, warm enough for skiing, and dexterous enough for mountaineering, Mammut's Meron Thermo 2-In-1 Glove is a killer winter option. The tough shell is outfitted with a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex NG membrane that'll keep wet snow and soggy ice from freezing your fingers solid, and the synthetic liner glove will be a boon for sweaty uphill tours where a minimal coverage is all you need to meet the conditions. Fully wearable on its own, the liner is also touch-screen compatible, so you can send a text or share a photo without needing to expose your skin to the cold. Whether worn together or separate, the Meron's dual components excel on their own, but when coupled together, few gloves come close.
A versatile 2-in-1 glove for alpinism, skiing, and ice climbing
Gore-Tex NG is waterproof and breathable for any condition
Shell glove and liner can be worn separately, or together
Goat skin leather provides good grip on ice axes and ski poles
PrimaLoft insulation is super-warm and shrugs off moisture
Inner glove liner is touch-screen compatible on-the-go
Your heavily insulated, waterproof gloves may be nice for the ski down, but they're going to cook your hands on the up track. Slip your hands in the La Sportiva Syborg Gloves when you need something light and breathable on the skin up. Their stretch polyester fleece fabric is insulating and breathable, while their reinforced leather palm ensures a stout grip on your poles and ensure that they withstand some abuse.
Insulated gloves are designed to keep you warm. So, when you have to take them off and risk your hands freezing because they’re so over burdened with bulk that you can’t take off your skins and zip them into your pocket, you have to wonder what the point of even wearing them is. The Fission Gore-Tex Gloves by Arc’teryx solve that problem by providing warm, breathable, and rugged protection in a carefully shaped natural fit.
XCR technology adds heightened breathability to the waterproof Gore-Tex membrane for a dry-all-day feel, no matter how much your hands sweat while touring to the top. The overlying softshell fabric helps boost your hand’s dexterity when you're fiddling with gear, and leather reinforcements on the palm and fingers protect the glove’s face fabric from abrasive maneuvers or tumbles over rocks hidden underneath the snow.
Additionally, the Fission was carefully designed with two types of PrimaLoft insulation. Grip Control insulation, which is engineered to resist packing out overtime, is placed over the fingers and palms. The other insulation maximizes protection from the freezing cold elements over the back of the hand.
Winter gloves for warmth and dexterity in the snow
Enhanced breathability in Gore-Tex membrane

Strategically placed insulation for maximum comfort

Technology is just like the name implies you know better for very warm conditions. The gore-tex active is also good for cold weather conditions but again the warm designation implies and shows that It's ideal for very cool temperatures.
Let's check out how the gloves compare against each other. For the marmot ultimate ski glove both extra-large gloves are coming in at it 257 grams that's pretty close if not exactly. What their claimed weight is claims weight of 8.8 ounces 258 grams equals 9.1 ounces so that's pretty much spot-on again to account for. The extra-large size compared to the large size that they have on the website so let's see what the black diamonds weigh now black diamonds are quite a bit more they weigh in at 365 grams so over 100 grams more and for those who want to see it. An imperial twelve point eight ounces so if weight is a huge concern the black diamond. Patrol gloves are sorry the black diamond guide gloves are significantly heavier perhaps the biggest difference.
And one that might not be obvious at first glance is that the black diamond gloves come with a removable insert so this insert here is removable whereas the Marmot you cannot remove that insert. So I'm not really sure how that's going to affect things over time. It might be nice to be able to remove the insert to wash it I guess but yeah that is the one major difference in terms of sizing.
You're supposed to measure your hand. Like such here my hand size is 9 inches. So I ordered an extra large based on that measurements for from both manufacturers and it's clear that the Black diamond glove does fit tighter than the Marmot. The extra large Black Diamond is nice and snug on me. I wouldn't want it much snugger than that. So the extra large is pretty much the perfect size whereas the Marmot.
The extra large gives me a bit more room inside the glove. I could probably squeeze in a riding glove or another shell of a glove inside for very cold conditions. Now the Marmot gloves have these ripples in the knuckles that is supposed to add a little bit of dexterity.
You can as well see that a few other small differences. The Black Diamond Guide Glove has leather surrounding the entire thumb whereas the back of the thumb on the Marmot glove is cloth. Similarly, in between the fingers and the Black diamond glove is nylon cloth whereas on the Marmot it's leather so. It'll be interesting to see which wears out first based on the type of conditions I use these gloves for. I quite often find myself yanking on еhings pulling on rope helping people get out of stuck situations on their snow belt pulling on winch cable. So you no I've often seen my snow moves tear. Around the palms and in the finger between the fingers where i could grab onto things, so we'll see which one stand. The test of time both gloves have adjustable draw cord cuffs that are both. Easy to use with your gloved hand it's. Just a matter of pulling the one chord. To cinch them up and I'm pulling the. Other end of the cord to loosen them back up again same with the marmots. Slightly different style but just as. Good one cord cinch this them up the red. Cord releases it so my only hope now is. To actually get enough snow to put these gloves to use I'm not holding my breath. That's for sure and doesn't look like jasper's either but I guess as soon as the snow goes away.
Merging a work-oriented glove with a ski. Specific glove marmot has created the. Basic ski glove with a durable. Construction and premium materials this. Is a great glove to take you right from chopping wood to the slopes let's take a. Look at its features these gloves are. Constructed with fully leather materials. On the exterior so from the palm all the. Way until the back of the hand you've got just consistent leather so there's. No synthetic materials that are gonna break down it's just a nice durable and. Comfortable leather material it is water-resistant but it is not fully waterproof so keep that in mind when picking up these gloves we do also have. A glove clip on the exterior which is. Going to allow you to clip the gloves together so you can make sure that you hang onto both of them at all times you've also got a nice cinched cuff. There that's gonna keep the fit nice on the bottom of the gloves there's no velcro attachment or any you know adjustment like that but there is. That nice cinch around the cuff for comfort on the inside we do have a. Thermal or insulation so that will help keep your hands warm it is a synthetic insulation so even if it does get a little wet it'll still maintain its thermal properties, and we do have a 3d. Dry clime wicking liner so that liner. Kind of lines the inside of the gloves and provides really good wicking power if your hands get a little warm or a little sweaty you're working up somebody heat so nice materials inside the. Glove as well as that durable leather on the outside they've also got out finished seams so you get a really comfortable fit there's no weird. Abrasions from the seams on the inside all the seams are finished on the outside so really unparalleled comfort. On the inside of the glove so there you. Have it highly water-resistant but not fully waterproof the marmot basic ski. Glove is an excellent glove to go from work to play.

Now there's a shoulder dry skin extreme on the back of the hand on the palm. This is petard armor tan leather. They make several different grades of the petard. It's goat skin still very soft, very supple yet, very durable and water-resistant by grain of the leather.
This is just a little bit tougher and stronger than there aren't than their oil tack whether they use on the really grippy climbing gloves. It shares the three-part thumb with the super alpine glove. It's got the snot wipe on the bottom of the thumb so you can kind of you know suck back. Some snot when you're on the lift or when you're touring somewhere sure low dry skin extreme there and then the leather going across the front of the thumb so it's still very dexterous on the inside of the glove.
There's this wonderful pile lining it's almost like sticking your hand in a rabbit glove like rabbit lion glove. It's just a super soft feeling teflon reinforced new-school hook and loop velcro cuff incredibly warm, incredibly comfortable. These would be for me good. Down to zero degrees touring as long as I'm moving quickly my hands will stay incredibly warm in these rolled fingers throughout for added dexterity because they are a little bit thicker of a glove wonderful design by mountain equipment.

So we've got a whole new fit system here.
At the North Face called five dimensional fit, and we've borrowed what we've learned from footwear which is you've got to measure the interior volume of the glove and go outward from there when you're adjusting for size, but we've got a whole new system for grading size of gloves. It's called five-dimensional fits and it ensures that if you're a large in a technical mountaineering glove like this you'll be a large in a stretchy fleece glove for an entirely different end use, so we've also employed some pretty sophisticated.
New construction solutions one of them which is called radiometric articulation. Basically that mouthful means that we've. Cut the glove in such a way that you end up with that a nice natural curve built into the glove so that your hand isn't fighting a flat glove to relax we've. Built our gloves with a warm warmer the warmest sensibility and you'll see actually on the hang tags at retail. You'll see snowflakes and now one snowflake is warm two snowflakes is warmer and three snowflakes is warmest as it needs to convey the message that out you know in the case of the kelvin here we've built it to be the warmest possible globe that we can build with 8 ounces of frame loft on the back of hand. And 4 ounces of primo loft on the front of hand this is as warm as we can build a mountaineering glove and still maintain the kind of dexterity that this users gonna need.
