The 14 Best Men’s Athletic Shoes – Reviews

It can be difficult to choose from a variety of athletic shoes available in stores and online shops. There are a lot of differences in design and variations in shape, material, and weight. Special features have been developed to protect feet that encounter stress in a particular athletic activity.

Required for athletic shoes:

  1. Rigid and hard sole. During strength exercises, your legs should stand firmly on the ground, and your feet should be pressed tightly to the floor. This allows you to fully utilize the muscles of the hips and buttocks. If you wear running sneakers, the cushioning sole absorbs energy, does distribute body weight in the feet and reduces the force on the knees.
  2. Tight fit to the foot. Sneakers should provide good support. The foot should not hang out in them. If the sneakers are under pressure or tight, it will disrupt the weight distribution in the footsteps and reduce your performance.
  3. Good grip. The sole should not slip - it is fraught with injuries.

Below you will find 14 best athletic shoes for men. Every item is presented with a detailed description and a video review from a real customer.

Well cushioned and still supportive. The Adidas men's Tarim swiss are is a great lightweight abrasion resistant trail shoe. This shoe is built with a fully synthetic upper and it is weather resistant but not fully weatherproof upper. You've got highly abrasion resistant materials along there with some durable overlay to provide a little bit more structure and a little bit more support. So the foot won't move laterally while in the shoe.

You've got a really nice design throughout again with that abrasion resistance. It's going to shed most light precipitation but it is not a completely waterproof upper. The terek swift are the lacing system on the shoe is really nice. You've got a deed at this speed lacing system, so it's a really simple single pull lacing system. You've got a lace bungee here to keep everything in place. It's not flopping around on you while you're on the trail or on your hike and it just makes for a convenient and easy way to put on and take off the shoes. You do have some reinforcements around the front of the shoe so you've got kind of rubber toe bumper. They're just going to protect the front of the toes from any rocks or anything sharp on the trail.

The heel is a little bit reinforced as well so you've got a nice heel counter built in there. That's going to keep everything in place and again prevent your foot from shifting and moving all around you've got padding inside the collar of the shoe. So you've got a nice moisture wicking material in there with padding. It's going to provide that extra comfort and a padded tongue as well so overall you're going to stay nice and comfortable. It's a very soft riding shoe. The midsole of the shoe is built with an adipreen midsole. It is a really well-cushioned and pretty beefy midsole in there. It's going to provide a lot of shock absorption, a lot of comfort throughout the entire mid portion of the shoe. It's going to really reduce the impact that you'll feel from the rocks and the roots and all those sharp things along the trail. The outsole is Adidas Traction outsole. It's a high-friction rubber outsole — really durable. It's going to provide great grip on all kinds of trail surf.

They give you exactly. What you need to hit the trail without weighing you down good cushion lightweight materials. Some extra stability features make the Adidas outdoor men's Tareq's Swift r2 an excellent light hiking or approach shoe thanks for watching if. You have any additional questions about the gear. Just wrapped up putting a couple kilometers on these bad boys right here. This again is the Salomon trail store it's kind of intro to trail running style shoe from Salomon. You know what I have zero absolutely zero complaints about. These things other they almost seem on just a touch warm. They breathable in the toe box area but everywhere else. It kind of seems just a little bit. More worn the sense of fit is wonderful. I really do like it has a little bit. More support in that heel area then basically anywhere else in the foot the toe bumper is really nice and yeah. That grip on the bottom. That contribution we do our best to trial run. And try to keep a nice cadence. And from this like kind of sloped rocks the elevation the loose gravel. And kind of just different types of terrain. It actually worked really well. You know the color colorway. It looks really great. It was quite a bit of a drop but the thing. I really liked most about the shoe is. It has like a good amount of cushioning with. That energy cell style foam. It seems to absorb a lot of shock a lot of impact like. I were a lot of vulcanized style skate shoes.

That have very thin soles. I ever go skate and I'm running around like. You can feel that shock okay like going up through your feet. And through your body. And that's just not the case with the trail store shoes which is nice and. They have traditional laces. That are the speed lace. I actually prefer I actually prefer the traditional laces instead of. That like the Salomon speed lace system but Josh tranny buddy. And trail runner friend of mine who. He said like if you're ever running and doing a race with a pair of traditional laces like. You know you could step into like a like. Some mud or your shoe can actually pop off.

You don't ever really want to stop to tie your laces. When you're when you're in a race. And that's why he prefers to have. That speed lace but. Iactually just prefer the fit. And feel of a traditional lace like the trailster has a decent amount of padding on the tongue but really not too much. And there's generous padding around the collar again with. That like in like those overlays seems to be a little bit. Firmer and there's a nice little cupping to. That heel area but yeah 10 out of 10 for these things a little bit wider. That toe box area this is a dope shoe we're gonna write we're gonna ride on we're gonna run on. It a little bit more trails around my house put. Some point time on we can get back to film. And do a little conclusion.

And I'll let you know. What I think after some miles on. It but for these conditions today the distance. We ran straight up 10 out of 10. These things are dope.

When I'm camping trip with my parents and free-climbed a 70-foot tree I decided to come down and a branch broke my free fell the entire way down surgeon came in. He sat down with my mom. And my dad he just said she's probably never gonna be able to run again. You know it started with. One step in a bathroom without my crutches to the sink. And then I walked to the mailbox. And then I ran at the end of the street. And then I ended up training for a marathon. We actually start with the consumer first with. Everything we do try to find out. What their insights are. What their pain points are. What doesn't work for them the people. We were talking to we're looking for shoes. That really allowed them to move naturally. And to connect the most common denominator for a shoe to work for me indoors. And outdoors I want to be able to feel my foot move. And feel the ground Barefoot's always been about. That connection and allowing everything to work in the way it's intended the trug love five uses our barefoot — technology. This shoe is built around the shape of the foot which sounds really simple but it's actually not the way. Most shoes are built. Some things that worked well on barefoot. That worked well in barefoot 2. We have a wide toe box. It allows our toes to play out.

We have really nice contoured art. And then this really nice heel cup. That kind of locks in the heel those things have. All stayed the area. We really improved upon was the lateral rear foot creating a little bit. More width back there. That allows the foot to fully explain out in. That area which really enhances stability in the foot but as well. All the way up the leg wearing minimalist shoes it's really helpful for your body to be training all aspects. Because in the outdoors you're using every part of your body. It started off as a seed. Now it's this massive tree. You know it's the same thing with strength training its commitment and it's patience you.

What's up YouTube today. Iam doing a review of the new vibrant V train shoes so to start off. Ihave had five rooms before in the past. Istill have some today. Both pairs have bought. Ilove give them very much. Ithink issues are very comfortable. They look cool too, and they're also very functional so to start off. Some reviews on the v train. And the biggest complaint. Ikept hearing was it felt very tight. And uncomfortable around the ankle. You know there were still a couple good reviews saying you know didn't know. What was up but I went ahead. And decided you know I'm going to get up. And try them so I put them on. Ididn't do any adjustments. Yet to the laces so. Idid notice a little tightness around the top of my ankle. It felt uncomfortable like. Some review said. Some people said they couldn't. They had like no mobility. Ifelt the tightness definitely had. It was there for support but. Idecided you know well I'm going to try. This out, so I did do a workout in them. Iwalked in them I didn't really have. Any problem and the tightness like. Isaid wasn't a big issue but. Idecided I was going to see.

Icould get rid of the tightness so. What I did was I just simply adjusted the laces down from underneath the velcro to the third hole. That seemed to have fixed. Ididn't feel any tightnessI've also have removed the laces completely. It feels very comfortable. Ifeel very good squatting in. And also just walking everyday in them alright so with the Vibrams the laces used to be right underneath the velcro. Ihad them that way the tightness was right here in the ankle so. Any lunging motions. He would definitely feel. It but like it wasn't a big discomfort but. This definitely feels a lot better so. Anyone who has that tightness issue. These just simply adjust the laces. Or take them off I think they're just there for style.

You don't really need them okay so there. You have it my personal review of the vibram V trains so. If you're looking for a awesome shoe to work out in. Or just Walt these are really awesome. Ithink they're very comfortable. And just feel good I personally. Idon't really need. Ido work in my own work out of my own home so. Ilived barefoot but. Ijust really liked them. And they're I love walking in them too so but. Iever did go to a gym. Iwould wear I would rock. It thanks for watching if. You enjoyed this review please give the video a thumbs up. And I'll see you later.

What we've got there. Ipersonally like the bottom of the V Trail a lot to the bottom of the V Trail the grip is just a try to get listen focus the bottom of the V Trail is just really nice to just has a really good grip but. These are supposed to be meant. More for hiking and trekking so hoping. That those will be a good fit for me going to be hiking the Appalachian Trail so might be given. These a shot on some of the trail so let. Me loosen these up. They say loosen them up. All the way put your toes in. And then pull the heel cup over so. What I like to try to do. And what's really kind of nice about. This is it's its really soft so it's got a good nice soft flexible back there so let's see. These go move something is up good fit on the toes good alright, so I've got.

It on the left foot. Now I'm gonna take the camera off. And we'll take a look here I'm gonna get thee so. What we've got this is my left foot my left foot is a little bit longer. Then my right foot so always try on my left foot I've got a little bit of space in the toe not a lot but for barefoot. Ithink it's pretty good, so we'll walk around the house a little bit in them but. They feel pretty nice I'm always afraid. You wear a 46, so I was a size up. What would end up happening is. Iwould have so much space on my smaller toes. That my small toes would basically not. Even fit in the holes. And so they'd be basically floating around out here. These would just be a hot mess. And so by having it. You know really be the way. That needs to be you know. You shouldn't be able to like. Ipull my toes all the way back right here. Ican't really get them out of the pockets. Iwas to have a 46 on which I'll show.

You in just a moment with my feet rail thises. Ihave a 46 on I can technically without socks like pull my feet. All the way out of those shoes which is not. What you want with the five hundred five fingers so got a nice soft fabric for the ankle here for the upper. Ireally like that the gum soles look really nice. Now I've got kind of wide foot. And the base here feels really good on my heel the regular Trek is sent. Ifeel like has a really narrow heel. And, so I'm having a hard time breaking these in I'm wearing all them a lot around the house to try to break. These in before I take them out onto the trail. They do kind of where my feet in a little bit so. These are really nice. They feel really good width wise much better. Than the trek is sensitive right out of the box. These uppers are super soft. This part through here is really nice and in between the toes.

This is super soft I could definitely feel. You know it feels like a really nice sock they're so great fit really happy with. It fits in the arch of my foot here. It just really has a good feel to. It the ankles cuffing really well around my ankle. Idon't feel a lot of side-to-side movement it's just good. You stand up twisting like. You know coming downhill might be a little bit of a struggle, so I'll have to check. You know when you're coming downhill your foots always gonna come forward a little bit. You know like you always gonna kind of stop yourself. Icould get into a little bit of trouble with the 46, so I'd be interested to see. What other people's thoughts are. If yours fit like you wear them bigger just see. What your thoughts are. You guys spit them alright so there. We go that's the V Trek alright so again. We have the vitamin B Trek. It is for outdoor hiking trekking I like. This shoe good shoe I'm going to go ahead. And try on this other. One walk around a little bit.

More see it goes here alright. Everyone, so I've tried them on I've walked around in them for just a moment not long at. Idid want to give you my first impressions the uppers here are so comfortable. It is really comfortable between the toes super soft. You know I've had a lot of five fingers. These are pretty close to softest between the toes honestly the uppers. Ilike, so I have the CVT woolen the CVT wool was difficult about them is. It took a little while for this to break in so. This particular piece is literally right here at the top it's just really hard the stitch is tough there's just a lot of fabric right there so. That took a little while to break in. Idon't know this is gonna have. That problem you look. And hopefully my camera can pick. It up so you can see kind of the stitching and the bulk of the fabric there. You look at the stitching and the bulk of the fabric here there. You go it's significantly less so.

Ithink it's gonna it's gonna break in. And be a lot more comfortable on the back of the heel the inside of the shoe here is just really soft. You see ya I'm able to turn. You know I felt like the wool which came out a little bit stiffer out of the box the soul compared to the trek ascent is a little bit flatter through the arch out of the box. And a little bit wider through the heel which is nice so. Ireally like that factor as well here's. Another thing I noticed. Ithought was really cool. You look at the toe of the V track okay. It doesn't come over the top as much as say the V trail. You look at the V trail. You know the V trail comes. And wraps over the top of your foot a little bit. And I'm gonna put this V trail on real quick just so. You can get an idea of how. Iwear 46 but I would typically have socks on with a 46 so let.

That looks so what it looks like. If I'm wearing the 46 so the toe here significantly. More room as you can see significantly. More room in the toe. You know I can actually walk out so right. You know there's literally no toes in. Any pockets on the 46 which is not. What you want so these like. This is the V trail. Where the V trail like. Iusually wear socks. That stiff that kind of bulks up in between my toes. It pushes my heel forward a little bit. It kind of makes my heel a little bit thicker which fills in the middle. And then just you know gives. Me a little bit more room here so. Ido like gives some options. Ican't wear socks with a 45 by. Any means it's just way too tight. And not comfortable, so we're here again reviewing the V the new V Trek from Vibram the new 5 fingers again what's nice.

You look the toes of these look to be really enforced for those downward hiking so. You look it comes up over the toe but what's kind of nice. It should let this way. You can see this profile the toe really goes forward a lot so it's gonna give. That downward you know toe jam sort of effect. And it's gonna give your toe. More space to slide forward here which is gonna be really nice alright so. We compare that as a comparison. We compare that to the V trail. You can see the V trail comes up. And really rounds out a lot so. Though your foot can slide forward you're gonna be hitting. That hard rubber so. You don't have nearly as much give on the V trail sliding forward here so that's the thing to think about.

You are in a trail hiker. You know that V Trek toe is gonna be a nice change for you. Ireally like the difference there okay so that's. Something else to consider. You can see the width of the heel is pretty close to the V trail the width is a lot better. Ifeel liker than the trek ascent here's the difference. If you're looking at wanting to compare high top to high top here's kind of the height difference so. You look and I'm gonna try to give. You a flat surface here but. You could tell I mean very easily. That the back of the shoe for the V track is much lower. Then the back of the CVT walnut so overall really liking these shoes out of the box gonna take them for a couple hikes.

And I'll let you know hope. You guys keep trekking the trails.

It's Tracy from Vibram FiveFingers. Today we're gonna talk about one of our original models. The classic. This is the shoe that started at all the classic from V Burren. Five Fingers is the original theorem and you're gonna see a nice original sole here.

You look closely, you bend the sole. First of all look at how easily this bends. This is a really minimalist, feel really close to the ground but also the soul itself has some nice little razor lines cut into. It's called siping and that means if you're going in the water kayak stand-up paddle boarding even slippery wet rocks, this shoe is going to be secured on your foot and give you good grip and traction.

You look at the (upper) of the shoe. You'll see that it's a very simplistic design. You can slide your foot right in easily and then get a nice little closure here just slide. This up so you adjust the fit to the back of your foot and you're good to go. Thanks for checking out the classic. This shoe is awesome on the ground on the water. Wherever you want to take. It's the classic from v brim 5 fingers

They do have a warranty to them we've had very. Few returns the quality is great. If anybody's on anything with vibe romana they'll know. They make great stuff. This is their only end product currently as is their fiber. And FiveFingers other. They just make soles for everybody. They do come with an adjustable bungee on the back. Some I've had some people their foot too thick. They have to break that guy off. Or my foots too thick. Ijust totally removed. It does help keep out debris on the sides but. If you're just walking and wearing them to work everyday they're great for travel. They don't weigh anything they're easy to throw in the suitcase. Ihave an experience. You really start wearing them you'll probably find.

You like a lot of my customers have become repeat customers. They get several pairs different colors different styles. These here what I personally run into the classics as far as on sidewalks on roads. If you're running in trails. And stuff I'd recommend a little different style which. You can get on and watch. Some of my other videos. Or get on my website. All the videos on there as well. Or in the process of anyways but. This is the orange gray black the vibram is 105 m 105 is the model number they're a great shoe super flexible barefoot alternative. And they're just terrific. Ican't say enough good about them check them out at Drake's our treat the trades are true calm. Is a call on our 1-800 number we'll be glad to assist.

500 kilometer review there's been barely. Any Willie still feel weird. They always feel weird. You massively increase the number of steps. You do per minute when you're running and my calves are still pretty darn tender every time. You use like think of viren's as training tools they're surprisingly not cheap right okay hey tonight. I am about to go do I'm a bit of a knight City knight run in my Vibram FiveFingers. I got them they were called Baku la's. And then it became Va keel evos. Now they're called V runs. And they're all pretty much exactly the same. I haven't really necessary difference I've had. These for over three years. And the reason why I'm talking about. This run is cuz this is gonna be by 500th kilometer running in. You 500 callers over the years. Isn't very much but I'm talking about specific shoe here I've got.

These you've got the V trains. I have the original MV brooms as well. This is my kind of 500 kilometer review of the five kilometers of running over the Vibram V runs as. It would be advertised. And why we'll see is throughout the whole to have had them there's been barely. Any wind okay there is wear. And tear 500 meters worth but almost. Nothing compared to my trail running shoes might like proper trail shoes. These have been used fairly gently but over multiple variable different grounds so from. Everything from in a gym road running gravel running. That was sore just dirt paths. Even up mountains I've. Even taken out all the mountains.

If they're bitten slippy on mountains. I wouldn't advise to use them on mountains for Hill running definitely the V trains are better. That the V trails I bought three pairs of them. None of them fitted. All had defects in them so. I have had a chance. I just gave up I just give up. Or reordering V trail shoes. And so it's been the V run. And the v train have the I've been ones have been using the. These still feel weird. You put them on your feet. If your somebody. That goes in to show up. And says I hear there's five-finger shoes. What Mayibuye you try them on. These feel weird they always feel weird every time. These on especially. If I've had a whole day. Where have been in our their business shoes. Or like normal walking boots. That suddenly go into. They are just there they're just so squishy so light it's so like gentle fabric compared to okay. I have no shoes in here to compare against.

And but compared to shoes there's. Nothing quite like them. And every time I put them on my feet. It always feels a bit weird. Even after this time I'm pretty cool to get my toes into the tools but. Something to let your feet dry off for as opposed to be wearing thick socks. And walking boots something and give your feet low without drying off session before. And stick them in their especially forgot. Any tools that curse squeezed together like why do um. And my toes still don't fit right at the end there's still a bit of a gap there but. They still feel weird but. They do feel it's super light 500 kilometers isn't a lot why mainly use. These four are effectively a form of a cadence training because. Whenever you're running with. You massively increase the number of steps. You do per minute when you're running your general speed will be reduced but your cadence the pace the number of steps.

You do will usually be a good 10 15 20 steps higher per minute so for me. I was running normally my normal shoes. I might do 160 steps a minute. When I've got these on 180 easy. And that's one of the things. These train you to do so higher cadence means less impact less force. And as a moral is meant to be a more efficient way of running with. These still they use them only as training my calves are still pretty darn tender every time. You use them once a week. And I've always I do let's go do three four runs a week. And have where I'm doing this. And it's usually my shortest run of the week just. Because it's there to build up the calf strength. Or keep the calf strength super strong. And build up the your your Achilles tendons your plantar fascia at plantar fascia. And make sure that it's. All good whenever I've had plantar fasciitis which is an irritation of the fascia underneath your food that's been caused by actual wearing normal trainers um.

I haven't had these. When I've had plantar fasciitis I've worn. You still have that pain of running but for some reason. It doesn't affect quite as much. I don't know what it is. Because there's less cushioning at the back. Or the other thing that people. Some people have hurt is heel spurs which is like a growth in your heel bone. Because with these you're running on your toes on the ball on the front part of your foot um. And there's very little impact on the back of your foot then people with sore feet may benefit from. This but you will get sore calves a bit so. When buying these make sure. You buy a foam roller. One of those like rolling pin things to really roll out your calf muscles afterwards so.

I am good video I'm going for ya is its a sunset time just. And then I'm just going to go for a quick run along the water of leith canal um. And I'll get some action shots might be a bit dark in a minute but um yeah celebrating my 500th kilometer in my V trains V no why are. They V runs hmm oh well that's. This might be the kind of perfect ground for the V runs like nice path not very. Many stones on it almost no stones at. All a clear path you do still feel every stone underneath your feet interview use. All the birds having to fight. And yeah you want to choose your path carefully. When are we using it the other thing.

That you'll really notice. You use the V runs the issues views. These often and well. You go for like updates he's like a month of just using these. And not using your trainers. What you will find is. You go back to trainers her trail shoes let's say you're gonna go for a run. You don't know what the surface is gonna be like. You don't know what the rocks would be like but you're trying to get her a fast time. Something and you go back to your trainers. You will really notice. And feel how heavy trainers are cuz. These only weigh a hundred grams. They are incredibly light. And then you go back to trainers. You will feel a different. I think a little bit different muscles being used having to lift the weight of your trainer special for longer distances my new Jean 510 closures of running the extra 200 300 grams of your trainers for the first thousand Snape's doesn't feel like.

Anything but when you're doing like a 5k. You will have different fatigue in different muscles. Whenever you go back to normal trainers. I am so for me I like to use. Both definitely my V runs. And normal trainers. It up use the V rate V runs to really keep my calves Achilles tendons. And my running efficiency. And my cadence high keep. That kind of bits going on in my head properly hey. You know the key to. This is making sure that's nice and fast I'm trying to get. That to transfer over to very amusing trainers. And the trainers are trying to keep the give a speed my length of stride. We bit higher when you're using these your straight is a lot shorter been a cobbles not the best things to run on these especially. If there are weight cobbles.

That could be a wee bit slippy. And, so I'm just choosing to walk on the cobbles but as soon as the cobbles go. It gets back onto road I'll get my feet back up again as the regular questions. You get are how often do twist your ankle. When you're running in. These in my case has been significantly less. Or just not at all compared to running my shoes just. Because there's not. That edge of a shoe like a normal shoe. We might twist over the big side. Because there's nothing to twist over. You don't twist your ankles at. Another question being what happens. You stand on glass or on a nail again. Something breaks throughout the year as they've been wearing these shoes never happened. And with glass with. These shoes you could have a bit. More protection with a nail that's gonna hurt a lot. And you're probably gonna go to hospital so again keep your eyes on the ground Luke we're going Luke.

Where you're stepping well. They can say that's like. Somebody would also say wow. What happens you stand in dog poop again never happened cuz I'm looking at the ground I'm looking exactly. Where I'm gonna put my feet so you're much. More conscious of their ground right in front of. Most likely to twist your ankle. Most likely standing something painful. Or not very nice only. Or the closest thing. That I've had to injuries with. These shoes is that actually on steep up hills. Whenever going up a hill. Whenever you're in a big shoes sometimes your flute crushes weave. It forwards you've got. That cushioning with the tongue of your normal Shoob of. This cuz you've got. Nothing there sometimes they're just squish. That way I don't know. What the front of your ankle the top of your feet.

I don't know that can be a little bit like oh wow want to be careful there. That just reminds me to engage my calves. More makes sure being more sure-footed. Wherever I land the. One thing about wearing these to be aware of is. If you're going to be running in the dark on ground. You know location we don't know. What the ground is gonna be like. It probably opts for trainers just. Because that's mercy thrown in the dark. And you're sweaty horse breathing and. You can't see any glasses visual nightmare. And in those situations there's use trainers so really think of iran's Achilles Evos has training tools. Than mandatory food. Where for every time. You go for a joke no the last thing before. I close up this video it's the price they're surprisingly not cheap. These are about a hundred pounds till.

You buy them new that are still around about 100. And 110 hundred fifteen. Now for me somebody who's done 500 kilometers. That works out well right 20 pins per kilometer those shoes have cost. Me why I would say though they're still enormous perfect condition they're easy to wash. They go in the washing machine no probs so. I think I've still got at least. Another 500 homes within them thank. You guarantee ten pence a kilometer in. These shoes already to upgrade them that's think there're new ones. I see no reason to upgrade. They haven't flown apart the quality controls been good they're stitching has been good their soul has been very good. This to the V runs get big thumb up for me. And it'd get bigger so up. You can get them at a discount. Or a sale then around about 60 70 pounds I'd be a far. More possible price there.
