So you don’t want to burn this. You press this thing on and I’m going to turn off this light. So it’s gonna get dark right. Now. Ron and I remove the front cap, and maybe you can see right there. It’s I barely turn it on there’s the night vision and it comes you press the infrared button and, as you can see, just got brighter, so you can see around in the darkness. These are fairly inexpensive right now, when I got the shoes around 150 bucks I just turned that off and you can still see, which is a pretty cool thing right now.
I think I saw him for less money, but you can find it at Amazon or Ebay and I believe. The next generation you know, are even more powerful, more clear, but this is a nice border watching in the night just remember to cover your lenses and there you have it fire filled, nightfall or night vision. Hey this is one with fire filled. We’re gonna take some time to go for the fire filled. Knife fall to five by fifty night vision, monocular I’ll be going over the technology characteristics and how to focus the unit properly. The fire field, nightfall -, is a generation one night vision, monocular generation one is the world’s most commonly used night vision technology things to keep in mind about generation. One is the unit sensitivity to light. You want to make sure that you do not have the lens exposed during the day.
If you require the use of the unit during the day, keep the lens cap on. There is a pinhole in the cap that will allow you to look through the unit in bright conditions. Second, you may see spots in the image. These are normal for generation, one night vision units and are not a defect. There is a card provided for additional information along with your unit pertaining to these spots. With your unit, you will receive a carrying case, a user manual, a lens cleaning cloth, a wrist, strap and a lens cap to power up the unit.
First, you will need two double-a batteries. They can be inserted here. The unit has two buttons. The buttons closest to the eyepiece is the on button. The green LED located next to the on button will light up when the unit is powered. On the other button is the IR button. The IR illuminator acts as an invisible flashlight, producing a beam that is only visible through the night-vision device. The same LED will turn red when both the unit and the IR are on when using your nightfall -.
For the first time, you want to focus the unit properly. I am using the unit during the day. Thus, I’ve kept the lens cap on first, you want to focus the objective lens, which is located at the front of the unit. Second, you want to focus the ocular lens, often refer to as the eyepiece once you’re done, using the knife, all two, you can power it off by pressing the on button. You’ll notice, if you look through the unit it may appear on, but the internal components are powering down thanks for watching this tutorial, and if you have any more questions, please visit our website at fire, – field, comm.
Hey it’s angelo with angelo’s edge. Again I got a little unboxing about this uh. I don’t know a year or so ago. Uh. I thought I’d go with the channel, pretty good for knives and uh. Some bug out slash camping gear uh. This is the fire filled nightfall four by fifty uh night vision monocular. So I bought this. I don’t know like I said a year or so ago, and you know some people might want to see a little unboxing and uh review on this puppy.
So I said to myself like I always do. Well, let’s do it so I got this out found the box and let’s, let’s unbox it all right. So, like I said this is a fire filled, nightfall binocular, so it comes in the box. Comes in your uh paperwork. Let’s get rid of the box correct, [, __, ], falling everywhere, okay uh! So we got some paperwork here: the directions uh. So you got. I mean, of course I read this and uh before see.
What’s this says anything uh offers quality pro all they do, like their company does stuff for paintball airsoft ar 15 pistol. So it’s like uh, it’s definitely a sporting goods uh. They have bore sights flashlights a bunch of stuff that seems to do with like gun type stuff, late, flashlights laser sights reflex sights so a bunch of so they’re in the lenses and stuff. I know I read somewhere before this.
Is I don’t know starlight your nightfall vision, scope professionally. You know, that’s the directions. It takes. Two two double eight true triple a batteries comes carrying case link cap hand, strapped lint, clone cloth. There’s what’s gonna, look like all right! Well, there’s the book, probably three year warranty and uh how to dispose. It, probably don’t throw it away. You know anyways! So there’s your paperwork, here’s the case comes in and it has like a pocket like you put on your belt loop, so here’s the scope itself, all right, there’s what it looks like so like it says: monocular uh! This is your uh lens.
You look through there. I believe, there’s a cleaning cloth in right here and this the pouch has a little spot for a cleaning cloth right there, there’s the there’s the bag yeah. I use this. Quite I mean I break it out if every few months, or so it’s nice to look at the stars because it really brightens them up um. So as a spot, you could put it on a tripod right there uh it has a built-in infrared like uh.
It turned you know it’s a red light, so it is shine. You don’t need it per se, but here, let’s put some batteries in it. So the battery’s going right here so positive, positive and negatives and positive that side, negatives, that side and threads on. I usually take batteries out every time I’m done using it, so it everything’s. It feels like all this cap right here is actually to protect your lighting, and you can see it says, do not open in the daylight.
It there’s just a little peephole right here and that protects, I guess the internals, so you don’t destroy it. So you never want to take this cap off and turn the power on and because it’ll it’ll destroy your your toy. So, but there’s like a so here, you just powers on and you can see it’s green and that and actually actually that’s actually what the when you look at it, that’s actually what it looks like it looks green.
So I can’t really. I don’t know if I can oh yeah, you can see through it like. So that’s what I don’t know if you see that hue of green, that’s what you’re be looking at, but it’d be a night and everything will look green and then this other button, this one right here. You turn that on and that’s like a sk and that one comes on and that’s like it turns a bright like a light. You can’t really see it right here, but uh it uh will light up the area because it sends like a this lens is not another lens.
It’s actually like the light like a red light, and it is shine. You point it. It has a little I’d, say: 50, feet distance and it’s almost like amplifies what this is uh. It just makes everything white. Like I said this is like looking in green and white. It’s not not color but like it’s really cool um. So, but that’s what this like, I said this is here to protect it. This is this: that’s all you’ve seen through there, it’s just a little, so you almost see a little bit of blue or something shining, but so you never want to take that off and it has like a focus, as you see it, moves in and out so, but it’s pretty cool yeah.
I like it to break it out. Look at the stars because you see a lot more with this than with the naked eye, because you know it amplifies light and and it’s it’s it’s a kind of cool little gadget it go. It goes along with like camping and and just like, like anything like that, it it it kind of fits in with that category. But this is a a four by fifty. They have a larger one now, so I believe it’s I wanna say five by fifty and yeah five by fifty um right now.
They have it on amazon for 108 92 uh with four stars out of 522 uh, but it’s pretty neat um but yeah. So there’s the fire filled nightfall and night vision, monocular, that’s a mouthful! So all right, if you like videos like this uh, subscribe like and share and ring the bell and they’re, probably more coming see you later bye.
Hey this is one with fire field: we’re going to take some time to go over the vision, monocular I’ll be going over the technology characteristics and how to focus the unit properly. The fire field, nightfall 2, is a generation 1 night vision, monocular generation 1 is the world’s most commonly used night vision technology things to keep in mind about generation. 1 is the unit sensitivity to light. You want to make sure that you do not have the lens exposed during the day.
If you require the use of the unit during the day, keep the lens cap on. There is a pinhole in the cap that will allow you to look through the unit in bright conditions. First, you will need two double-a batteries. They can be inserted here. The unit has two buttons: the buttons closest to the eyepiece is the young button. The green LED located next to the on button will light up when the unit is powered. On the other button is the IR button. The IR illuminator acts as an invisible flashlight, producing a beam that is only visible through the night vision device. The same LED will turn red when both the unit and the IR are on when using your nightfall 2.

You.
Fueled night vision for by fifty monocular, it’s a genuine night vision device that has a four times magnification with 120 meter range. It operates from negative thirty degrees, Celsius through 40 degrees, Celsius and has a 15 degree wide angle. Lens has a 1/4 tried pod mount on the bottom and I are on and off with a safety cap for the front lens.
It also has a 72 hour operating battery life. It weighs 21 ounces and in the box you get a nice carrying case. You get all of your user manuals. So what you have here is your user manual. You have jinhwan targeting sheets for night vision, don’t litter sheet and your three year limited warranty. So the fire field, nightfall 450, gen1, monocular, cost 191 dollars online I do not believe it is available in stores.
I might be wrong so, first before we get into the actual night vision we’re going to talk more about the case, so batteries are not included and it runs on to triple-a batteries. But the case comes with a belt loop holder, and it also has this little pocket that kind of folds out right here. The pocket comes with a microfiber cloth, so you can clean the lens, like you would.
If you had glasses. The case is a zipper case. It also has a belt loop. I, probably ready said that it makes it nice and convenient for when you’re using it alright. So just the case, it’s fun. So basically, this is what you’re getting. This is the night vision, general and monocular. You have the safety cap. What you’re gonna always want to keep on unless it’s in use, you’re, never gonna want to take it off during the day now, I don’t have the batteries in it right now, but if you were to look at anything brighter than a car headlight with this on, it would destroy the innards of the night vision monocular, which is not good, because you want the night vision monocular to work.
This is right here. This part is the IR bulb, so there’s an IR or a whole bunch of IR LEDs in it, and basically the IR makes it so if I could see it’s so night-vision, it’s kind of hard to explain. It works off of infrared and light. So this is gonna help you see. Just the basic part is gonna help you see in low-level light, but the IR is gonna make it.
So if it’s pitch-black or really hard to see, you can see really well now. What you have here on the back is where you put the triple-a or yeah. That’s your place. It comes with. Is this little unscrew that the counterclockwise angle, so it’s kind of hard to get back on without practice, then, on up here, you’re gonna have the on button, which turns it on and off again the batteries are not in it and the IR button, which turns the IR on so the IR button works basically like a safety on a gun, so you turn it on and then turn the IR on and the IR won’t turn on.
Without having this on button clicked on the bottom, you got your 1/4 inch 1/4 of an inch tripod mount and that also I believe would work with a rhino mountain junior. If you were to mount it like that, if you had a mich helmet or an ACH helmet with a night-vision mount I believe that would work of a rhino mount and a junior, then you get all of your specifications down here from the FCC, however, was made made in Russia how many volts takes DC three-fold? Serial number, don’t throw away yeah, so you’re not gonna want to look at it.
Just oh yeah the measurement. So this is like a fine tuning adjustment right here. This eyelet, which is the 50 when it says 4 by 50. That’s what the 50 is. It’s this part right here, and this is the 4. So this is the 4. This is the larger adjustment. You can see things up to close up to as close as I. Don’t speak, English right now today, very well! For some reason you can see things as close as one meter clearly with the large adjustment and the fine adjustment zoomed all the way in or you can see up to, 120 meters zoomed, all the way out, and then you have the indicator.
Light switch on is on the bottom and I are on, is on the top, so after Sun sets and it gets dark out. I guess: I’ll see you in a few hours you, before the Sun fully sets I, think I’m going to talk about what a Gen 1 night vision devices. So it’s basically what it sounds like Gen 1 stands for generation 1 now as far as I know, there’s only 3 generations and they range in price, from a Gen 1 being around a 130 to $190 at the cheapest price, to 200 something dollars the more expensive price for a Gen 1, all the way to Gen 3.
Now the most expensive, gen 3 I know of is $42 000. That’s basically a really nice brand new car. So again they can be either really cheap or really expensive. But again that’s all of the quality and the internal components and what their rating are now like. I bet the $42 000 one now I do know the $42 000 one has one two three four monoculars on it, so it actually has four monoculars going out and that’s a military one and it’s not really used in civilian use.
So each generation has gotten better over time, but every night vision device is different and every night vision device is used in a different way, but they’re all generally used for the same purpose and that’s to see at night now I’m going to let the Sun set a little more and then I’ll get right into the view of the night vision monocular.
Both the videos you just watched were taken in complete darkness outside I hope you enjoyed this video and don’t forget to Like comment subscribe for more great content.

Hi Steve a desert dwellers and today we’re going to be looking at the Bushnell Equinox Z 4, 5 zoom, and that means in four point five power, day/night scope or binoculars, not a true scope. Okay, now it’s lightweight lighter than 280 NX sight. No crosshair is no way for a mean other than if you use like a laser or something which that’s what we will be using for it sometimes fairly simplistic.
Has the battery compartment four four double A batteries, but I find that it does burn through batteries this as fast as the eighteen des has a built-in infrared illuminator has a forty millimeter objective and then a little high piece, so you can see what’s going on, controls are fairly simplistic and we’re going to take some close-ups here on an off switch digital zoom in and out the one closest to the main body cycles through your your day mode, which is color to your infrared two level, which is your brightest in illuminator, setting infrared one, which is your lowest infrared setting and then infrared IR zero, which is you’re still in night mode, is picking up infrared, but the illuminator has actually turned off.
So those are your four modes that you can. You can habit it the button. Next to it is when you’re in night mode, infrared mode you can it already faults normally to 25 frames per second. This next click up lets more light in, but it drops down to 15 frames per second. This is on your video of course, and then your next one goes to seven frames per second, but that’s your most light gathering now, of course, 15 and seven frames per second you’re going to have a really choppy video.
It’s going to be really jittery, so I don’t plan on using those very much if at all, using so we’re not going to go into that too much and then, of course, your shutter and record stop start piping on this side, but on the backside, have a little flap here. Pops up a big rubber piece like on most things now to switch between video and photo mode.
Single pictures there’s actually switch on anything. You have to go on one or the other. Next is your socket for your SD micro card it’ll, carry up to a 32 gigabyte card and I happen to have one in there right now. Then you have your USB port and then your TV out, which was actually like a microbe, Jack audio/video jack and comes out to RC cables.
I doubt if I would be using that it does send it out in both ntsc and in pal. But again I don’t think I’m going to be using that very much now just playing around with. I only got it in yesterday. You know it went burned through a set of batteries almost instantly, probably that half an hour they were cheap batteries on TV wrong they’re, not the lithium’s.
They were just cheap, alkalis um. If I find that, I think it’s going to burn through batteries pretty fast again like the 80 and xi2, but like the ATN, you can use an external power source. Now this this uses, the micro or mini USB port I always get those confused when a teen uses the same one that that has cell phone would use this one uses the one like GoPro would use, which I have like a dozen of these running around and you just plug it in, and she powers up automatically I did notice with this plugged in you actually can’t turn it off.
You try to turn it off. It turns off. It comes right back on not a big deal. For me, yeah, because it’s easy enough to turn it off and on you can turn your battery off nope that doesn’t work either. Okay, hot oil works pretty good, but it’s a good way to give you an external power source. If you don’t want to be burning up doublea’s a lot just remember, you’re going to have to disconnect you can’t believe you’re connected all the time, because otherwise it’s always on unless you plan on using it all the time you know Matt out rabbit, hunting, stop the 40 millimeter objective lens I’m, hoping it draws in a lot of light for the rabbits.
That’s mainly what I bought it for I said: there’s no, there’s no sighting system in it, but um you can use it as a scope because it does have to pick it in email or and then you know you could use all a sighting system. Much like like a laser. No I wouldn’t use too powerful the laser or, if you wanted to then turn that map upside down, and then you can mount it like on the bottom of your rifle.
If you wanted to use an optical scoping, you just want to record what you’re doing not only record them for 80 people, 488 I’m, going to say 40, because that’s probably not accurate authority, which is standard like on DVD quality photos same things for really so. The photo quality will be really low compared to most photos. Video quality.
It’s not even it’s a standard definition: it’s not high definition, but it with the mount over here. It still gives you access to your buttons, which can also with in this way and then hook this across the top of rifle. So it’s off to the side. You can underneath now I mean working behind almost any editing software, even if you had it turned upside down you’re, going to turn it back around in post-production now as you’re making a little video.
So it’s very versatile when it comes to that also has the standard tripod mount? So if you just wanted to take video without a rifle I just want to do it. You know like look at wildlife or water running around at night. You can do that. This have built-in Picatinny rail on this side, so you can add extra illumination or whatever else that you can hooked it to a Picatinny rail.
All in all, it’s a pretty good unit got a little video here in the apartment out front. So I’ll add that to it and I said it’s only 480 quality standard definition, it’s not the 1080p that the XIT will give you, but it is what it is a lot cheaper. A lot lighter and hopefully I’m will be having a lot of fun with this and as it warms up enough outside to go out and play around with it, and then that case on, we have new doing more videos.
Alright, thanks a lot hope you enjoy. These videos, keep watching any questions or comments put them in the comment. Sections and I’ll try to get back to you thanks a lot bye.

Hey, what’s up guys, this is doug from carson optical today, I’m here to talk to you about the all new mini aura, digital night vision, monocular, just imagine digital night vision, wherever you need it. The mini aura was designed to be compact and lightweight enough to bring with you wherever you go, it could even fit inside your pocket. Unlike traditional night vision, the mini aura is completely digital.
In the past most night vision devices contain an image intensifier tube. The problem is these tubes would burn out over time. Another issue is the image would appear green through the eyepiece, with the mini aura. You get a bright crisp image in black and white and best of all, it’s completely digital, so it won’t burn out, since the mini aura doesn’t contain an image intensifier tube. You can turn it on in daylight without having to worry about any damage.
This device is so much fun when you’re, camping or even just exploring the wildlife. You would think something this small wouldn’t have that much of a range but believe it or not. This device gives you a 19 degree angle of view that has the capability of seeing up to 82 feet in front of you. That’s a lot for something you can fit in your pocket to use this product press down the power button located in the center of the device and hold it down for three seconds when the device turns on you can adjust the intensity of the night vision by using the built-in infrared illuminator.
Now it’s easy to make on-the-fly adjustments depending on the amount of darkness in your surroundings. This device comes with a neat little wrist, strap to prevent you from dropping the item for a night vision device. You won’t believe just how light this thing is. It runs off of three aaa batteries and we’ve also included a protective pouch to help you store away your night vision. So, if you’re looking to explore the outdoors at night- and you don’t want to carry around clunky night vision equipment, the miniora is the perfect companion to bring your nighttime to life.
I’m doug from carson thanks for watching you.

Hey YouTube, how y’all doing I’m in the forest at night and I have a little gadget that I want to share with you, we’re going to have a look at it and see how well it works. So don’t go away. So, my friends, this is what I wanted to show you. It’s a Carson night vision, it’s a mini, it’s small! That’s what mini means it’s more and very comfortable and we’re going to put it to the test. Let’s see if my camera kind of work through the lens here and let’s see what we can see, but first of all, I’m just going to show you a bit.
You know what it looks like as you can see it’s very small which makes it comfortable, but of course it’s not as powerful as the bigger ones. We have two wheels one here and the other one here to adjust. In other focus, we have an on and off button in the center. Next to it, we have a button that controls the amount of infrared light that you’re using to make it brighter and dimmer a window through which you look and let me see if I can get where we are now.
This is a digital night vision, which means that it uses more batteries and the standard one. So the front, let me see if I can get you front view. So there we are, you have the infrared light, and then you have the lens now, unfortunately, when you turn it on, you can see the red light. This is not military issue, so people might be able to see where you are. It takes three triple-a. Batteries and I’ve been told, I haven’t, tested it yet, but I’ve been told that in winter, with a cold, these three batteries which are not cheap.
These three batteries will give you about 2 hours. Performance I haven’t tried it at the moment we are in summer. So this, of course, is a plus for the batteries and I think we’re going to try them out now. What we do is on this side. We just open this and we stick the three batteries inside. Let me just check how they go so I got like that, unlike that I’m just going to check that it works. Yes, it’s working so now we’ll see if the camera can’t see anything through this little lens there.
So that’s what you can see now when you’re looking through it directly, you can see more oops, so it’s very difficult to get the camera to seem to look in the mid, but that’s what you can see now I’m going to ask my friend Max to go in front of the camera. Let’s see if I can see him. Okay, so that’s my friend Max now here’s a few meters in front of the camera again I, don’t know if the camera is doing this any justice, it’s very difficult to get this little screen on my camera, so I apologize for that, but just to give you an idea max is about five meters in front of me now max yeah and I can see him rather clearly.
I, don’t know again if the camera is doing any justice to this. But if I look directly through this night vision, I can see him really well, but the camera might not. You see, I lost it. It’s not easy. There we go now. You can see his face just very difficult. My camera is not all that good awesome right just for comparison. This is what max looks like without the night vision. Obviously you can’t see anything.
So what do you think about them? I, don’t know how well the camera picked up. It does do a good job. It doesn’t have a lot of distance, but a good thing about it. Is that if you, if you put it on one eye like that yeah, let me just turn it off, because for some reason it was still on okay. So if you put it on one eye, you can basically walk. So you leave the set the other eye opened and after like a minute, you kind of get you and you can see you can see while you’re walking with it yeah.
Unfortunately, I cannot show you that on camera, because it’s not going to get it’s too difficult, but yeah as I said you put it on the side like that, you know and you leave both eyes. Open. One eye looks through the night vision, the other one just looks in as it is in the darkness and you do get used to it. It might not be the most comfortable of things, but you do get used to it and it really works and you can walk about now.
It’s not a military-grade as I said earlier, so it doesn’t have a lot of power. It’s not green. It uses a lot of battery, but you know it cost me. Let me just think it cost me about a hundred total to about about $130. So it’s not really that expensive, though that is a lot of money in Ukraine, but it’d still be affordable for something like this. Should it be your primary night vision? If you need one mad enough, I, don’t I, don’t think so there are better ones out there.
You know you can see clear and of course, further much further away, but I wanted something like this, so just to walk about the forest, and it does it for me now. The only thing is that, yes, when the IR goes on, you can see it, it’s not very bright, but you can see it so you won’t be able to hide. If that is what you need, I don’t know, I don’t have to hide much. Basically so anyway, okay I’m bubbling now so yeah, I kind of like it it’s a cool toy.
It was a present from my wife. Actually, so thank you, darling, alright, guys and, ladies thank you for watching I hope you enjoyed this I hope this helped. Somehow, if you wanted to, you know to buy something like this and well catch you in the next one. Thanks for watching and God bless, sometimes I talk too much.
Hi I’m Trevor Bending from Optics, Planet and I’m here to talk a little about the new Carson Mini Aura NV200 Digital, Night, Vision, Monocular, That’s kind of a tongue twister right there, but just holding this up, you can see what I’m talking about I have a hand-held, pocket-sized digital night vision. Monocular This thing is pretty cool: You can compare it to the size of my hand, It’s tiny! It’s going to fit in your coat pocket. It’s going to fit in your pant pocket women’s purse.
You can throw it anywhere, This digital night vision, monocular actually works during the day and at night, so you can have it one during the day and it won’t harm the tube like traditional night vision, but at night this is gonna. Give you a lot of range Just, this little guy you’re, looking at 50 yards, probably even 75 yards depending on ambient light conditions. Now. You still need a little bit of ambient light for this unit to work, but it also has a separate IR illuminator, that’s not powered by the power button.
So you can separate from that. I wrote a letter on and off and the nice thing about this little unit is: it has three different settings:. You have a 100 percent setting, 60 percent setting and 30 percent setting So. You can actually choose the amount of IR you want showing at that time. So. If you really don’t want to reveal position and have too much of a red glow from that IR illuminator, you can definitely turn that down Now. This unit is powered by three AAA batteries located in the back.
You can find these easily at any grocery store or drugstore You. Have the power button right on the side located directly in front of that? Is the IR selector switch Above? These you have the objective focus and then you have the eyepiece focus So. You can really zero in on your target. You can find the Mini Aura at opticsplanet com, I’m, Trevor, Bending Thanks, for watching.
All right, I’m doing the best I can with I told you guys. I was going to order. So there’s my mailbox. Here’s across the road it doesn’t do much. It’s not gonna um what you call it: it’s not like macular, so it doesn’t really do anything. You know in the distance, but it’s pretty dark out here right now and you can see it’s black and white there’s my car, which you know you can see pretty detailed and pretty clear, yellow reflection there. Oh my bush is my house right, my door, I’m thinking it looks pretty darn clear.
You know, for what I expected it to be able to do. Is my garrix meatball tree -, fascinating um, now I’m going to go I’m, probably making out busy? Sorry, let’s see I’m going to go back over the mailbox there. Is it okay, there’s the mailbox? Now let me I’m going to take the camera off the mail I’m. Sorry! So if I take the camera off the mailbox right now, it is pitch-black out here and you can’t see nothing so I’m going to say that was pretty darn cool and there. It is back again like that, not bad for the price.
Hey guys, attacks fans were calm and I wanted. To give you a quick look at this awesome week-long deal product we’ve got coming up on tour from December 17th through the 23rd. So, as you can see, it’s tiny, it’s the Carson mini or a digital night vision. It’s probably one of the coolest new pieces of night vision to come out this year. It’s really small. It’s got the carson name, it’s rubber armor eyes.
So it’s very comfortable fits right into the palm of your hand, which is probably one of the coolest features, because it is so small. What else is cool this will let you see up to 82 feet in total darkness, because it’s got a built-in IR illuminator with four different settings, so you can have it off if you do have a little bit of ambient light or you could have it on low, medium or high, so a ton of different settings, it’s extremely tiny.
It is a digital night vision. So when you look through it, everything comes in kind of white, but it’s extremely clear and it’s perfect as a gift or just for yourself for a cool little gadget etoy. So it’s great for hiking, camping outdoors tactical reconnaissance, pretty much anything you want to do and guess what it’s on tour for less than a hundred dollars. So that’s pretty impressive! So pick one up, December 17th through the 23rd under comm, thanks for watching.
Beautiful panda here, hey just picked up this opmod from OpticsPlanet OpticsPlanet modification limited edition, and this is a night vision. Mana killer binocular was about the same monopod um. No, but it’s a look like little night-vision scope and now I have one. You probably seen my me my early review of it. You know it’s big. It’s kind of like three-quarters of a binocular works good, but it uses a image. Intensifier tube.
This one is, you know, branded OpticsPlanet. Basically I think it’s a it’s a rebrand of a carson device and basically about the same price and actually maybe a couple bucks more limited edition. I don’t know that that means anything I bought this recently from OpticsPlanet just because it was black and a little kind of cool, but you have no sponsorships or affiliation with OpticsPlanet in any way they are actually a chicago-based company and they sell optics.
You know rifle scopes, you know binoculars telescopes, you know all sorts of stuff kind of in the optics world I’ve seen them featured on a lot of sites. I’ve ordered stuff from their before. But don’t do it a lot. I order mostly on amazon, but this one amazon didn’t have this now what’s interesting is they did have this because OpticsPlanet does sell some stuff through amazon, but the carson one on amazon is a little cheaper.
This was about $99, we’ll get into it about $99 and I. Think the Carson one is about 95, so you can save yourself five bucks, but it’s really just more or less of a color scheme that I think is different here. So what you can see here is this DNV 1 0 is kind of like this little tiny, little tiny, handheld monocular, and it runs on three Triple A batteries now I bought this. The second brand new comes with like a little nylon, pouch velcro, and you know it’s like a little holster, a little strap here on the back, so you could put it on your hip, which is cool and I’ll.
Be honest. The really one of the reasons I was really fascinated by this is because a lot of times, you’re out and about out in the woods and you’d love to have night-vision, because you probably carry your flashlight, but it really seemed like this was as convenient as carrying a flashlight around and wouldn’t disturb the environment around. You probably won’t give you a much bigger field of view. Maybe it’s like a digital night vision monocular as opposed to kind of the larger you know intensifier to based ones, but it will give you kind of night vision as far as I can tell and I’m really looking forward to try it out we’ll do that.
But, as you can see here, look how small this sucker is. It’s it’s kind of like I, don’t know like one of those mini decks of playing cards right. It’s just! It’s really small fits my hand. It has a soft that soft touch finish, which I love the feel and the look and the matte finish of it. But I hate overtime, they kind of get scraped up and they don’t look great overtime. But that’s the whole thing is covered in that.
As you can see here we have the lens. You can see it’s a little bit convex and that’s what you would look into that little bad boy right there you can see here. This is where the batteries will go. Three triple-a, so you don’t need any kind of wacky type of battery cr123, A’s or anything like that. Just blurry triple-a batteries and they show you the orientation. They all alternate right there and then this looks like it slides back and it looks like it’s gonna be pretty weather resistant.
You have a little bar there for a lanyard as we kind of go all the way around, and then we have the front panel here, which is which includes the the lens, the camera lens, which is kind of generating the image and, like I, said it’s all digital, so which cuts down on the size, but then I also think it makes it daylight safe. Not that you’ll need it in the daylight, but you won’t burn out the intensifier too, and then right here, I believe, is the infrared illuminator, which is actually really cool that it comes with this now I, don’t know how big infrared illuminators are.
They generally haven’t been that big, especially when you add them on to something, so it’s almost like the size of the device. All just allows you to do it as opposed to you know, it’d be cool if you could make something like half the size that didn’t have the illuminator to, but just was like complete night-vision, totally dependent on the ambient light, but I get that you know you’ve got the batteries taking up this much space, the infrared illuminators probably easy to put in there the the two switches for it as I show you here on the top.
You have power on and off which I think you just hold down for three seconds to do both toggling on and off, and then you have the infrared illuminator button right there and that toggles between three settings and I won’t have them right here, but I thought it’s like 16 percent, 32 percent, 100 percent or some something that’s not quite like one-third two-thirds three-thirds, but it that’s that’s how it is now.
You will see that there are two you know: kind of slightly knurled soft touch rings here and that is for objective focus and eyepiece focus, I, believe and now. I think. The next thing we have to do is get some batteries in here and start trying this thing out and see if it’s worth 100 bucks, taking a look at the opmod out here, it’s post sundown, but it’s dusk, there’s still plenty of light. You know it’s not tough, probably dark enough to really justify a night vision.
At the moment there we go powered it on. You can see the little screen there kind of looks like when you’re looking through it that the screen is, you know, kind of on the far end of the optic here, but we’ll put it up here and see what we see, and so there you have it like I, said dusk, but everything’s in black and white, and it really does kind of make it look like it’s broad daylight. Focusing on the lens here is a little bit tricky now, obviously, no optical or no infrared illuminator, or anything like that, because it just wouldn’t project out that far.
You know those trees are probably you know, 80 90 feet away. So when they talk about this thing, having a range of 80 to 90 feet, that is absolutely within its wheelhouse. Now what I can tell you is between kind of right in the middle there there is an opening between the two trees and the trees beyond that are much further away, probably 250 yards away. So you can kind of get a idea that you know it’s gonna illuminate things, but you know for all practical purposes.
I think what they’re talking about is just the image and the resolution that this thing can produce it kind of makes things you know: 80 90 yards away relatively identifiable, but beyond that it starts to you know the pixels start to get a little blurry. You know sorry about the autofocus on the camera, it’s having a little bit of trouble there, but and I’m having a little trouble holding it in place. Now. Here’s the tree, that’s closest to me right in front of me really and, as you can see, it’s kind of a bright white.
So some of the issue is contrast. It’s a little bit of like a grayscale I. Think it’s pretty easy to kind of pick out. Everything, though, which is kind of cool. All right. I have my iPhone camera on 2x here. So we can kind of get a little bit better picture and, like I said you know in the 8090 yard range I think things are pretty distinguishable, but when you go out beyond that, I mean obviously you can see trees, but you just lose resolution, but obviously it’s illuminating those trees or at least identifying I’m, making them identifiable.
That’s 250 300 yards out there, so it’s not so much that it’s not illuminating it, but it’s just because you know normal night vision, which uses a an intensifier tube is just kind of a like looking through a scope, there’s no pixelation or anything because of you know the way it works. Focus won’t be wonderful here. Trying to do my best about you know capturing you, an image that looks decent, but it’s pretty.
It’s pretty impressive and, like I said, the Sun is continuing to go down here and it’s getting darker and the trees that we’re looking at right now, I can’t distinguish by my naked eye anything other than the black blob, so it looks much better through the night-vision scope than it does to the naked eye. At this point, and even as it gets darker I think it’ll probably even be more of a difference and then obviously with it, you know because I’m not I, don’t have the infrared illuminator on we’re just seeing everything enhanced with ambient light, but once it’s really really dark that that illuminator I’m sure we’ll really be helpful, especially in the 15 to 20 feet range, I, think where it’s gonna shine.
Let’s take it inside and take a look of them. What we got there, it’s it’s kind of interesting. It feels like there’s a little digital screen on the far end of the device. It doesn’t feel like it’s really far away from your eye, but it kind of feels like you’re, looking at it four inches in front of your eye, you’re, looking at like a little tiny screen, so I think they say you have a 19 degree. You know window kind of a 19 degrees.
Wide and I would say. That’s probably pretty close. You know you kind of seeing like a sliver because of the way it works now. I do have it here and I’m looking at this room and you can see the couch there. Obviously everything’s black and white and I do have the infrared illuminator on you can see that sculpture in that bookcase. It’s kind of interesting that you’re getting that kind of play. You can see a sliding door there and then you can see you know a curtain right there and then the floor.
You can see a teddy bear on the chair and at the table, so you get this kind of. You know the coffee table there in the couch behind it, so it definitely works and the resolution is actually pretty good. I guess you know it kind of reminds me if you’ve used those jacks Pacific the toys, you know that have true night vision on it. It’s kind of the same thing, there’s like a little tiny screen. You know that floats out in front of your eye now I will say that it seems like the resolutions a little bit better.
Now let me try to toggle off the infrared illuminator here a little bit and give you that effect. So as we’re looking at it because it makes a huge difference, I’m in a darkened room right now, obviously hit the button and I think it’s kind of increasing the illumination and now all the illuminations off. So the infrared illuminator, absolutely kind of makes this thing work, but, as you might be able to see here, you can’t really see anything I’m, just kind of panning around in that same area and what we’re not seeing is much detail of now.
There is a little ambu light in this room. It’s not completely pitch black, but I’m. Actually, a little surprised, I’m, not getting more distinct image. You know and I put it up to my eye, it’s the kind of the same thing you know so that the illuminator is really really important and in fact this thing kind of advertises going up to 80 plus feet. So it’s not a super long range now, I’m gonna custom it over to a different part of the room here that has a like a nightlight guy and I can start seeing.
You can start seeing the banister there a little bit, but you know to be honest. Looking through this and with the naked eye, it’s actually I can actually see things better with the naked eye, then I can, with with the opmod without the illumination. So there’s a night light on the floor and if I put this on, you know we can see things pretty clearly now but, like I said, I could navigate around here because there’s plenty of night light shining, but it’s kind of washed out it’s kind of washed out a little bit now, if I turn on the illuminator one more time here and put it back up, you know just a huge huge difference right, so you can see the floor on the wall and every you know those doors right there that you couldn’t see before and if I go back here to the banister, you know no problem and then, if I go back to the other room, we’re kind of coming in from a different angle now, but you can see that bookcase that shelf out there and the couch.
So this is what it kind of looks like it’s kind of a really small sliver of night vision, and you know it works. What I’m guess I’m most interested in and most impressed with, is that this thing is just really small: I could carry it around with me. I could put in a backpack, I could put in a fanny pack, I could put in my pocket and have night vision capability for the most part. Now is it better than a flashlight? You know.
Certainly a bright flashlight would be. You know more effective for getting kind of a wider angle on things and probably you know easier to navigate and I I. Don’t know that the magnification is truly one-acts or anything so I. Don’t know that you’d want to this up to your eye and kind of walk around with it, because you might have a little problem with depth perception, but it certainly works and I’m really impressed with it.
I guess and it’s cheap. So it’s 99 bucks, so you can get night vision for a low price point in a really convenient form factor, but what I would say is that a probably good flashlight is probably gonna be better in from a practical sense. Now, if you need night vision, because you’re out trying to observe wildlife or you’re trying to create a low impact, you know or you’re trying to be stealthy, your tactical, then yeah I can see it being useful, but as it stands right now, it’s uh.
It’s it’s it’s cool and it’s maybe just a little bit more of a novelty I I definitely could see it like I, said if you’re out, night fishing or trying to catch scorpions or feral pigs, or something like that, and just to kind of give you a little bit of a look at what it’s like here in the dark. I’m gonna turn on flashing the light and kind of just show you around from the scene. So this is where I was standing and showing you you can see the teddy bear over there.
You know this is just the light on the the the iPhone itself, and so you know it’s pretty dark, but it’s just the flashlight on the iPhone is gonna. Give me you know from a real world perspective, maybe more context, and it’s probably gonna be easier for locating things now, like I said it’s not night-vision, so the opmod from OpticsPlanet cool little device, I’m pretty intrigued by it and I’m glad I have one.
But you know you’ve got to decide if this is something that’s really critical for your outdoor excursions, Peter wrong, panned out.

Unboxing these pvs-14 night vision, monoculars, here’s a chance to see what it is, you’re going to be getting and I’m going to talk a little bit about them and then later on, this video I’m going to be taking them outside in the dark and doing a demonstration of how they are at nighttime all right. So the first thing you’re going to see is a couple mounts.
The first mount here is for helmets called junior mount. The second mount here is for and actually put it on, a weapon. I wouldn’t suggest mounting these on an actual rifle I’m, not sure how they would hold up to to that kind of a recoil. User manual has specifications, storage procedures, use and testing overview and generally everything you need to know about these set of batteries from the factory, and then we have the case that these are stored in it’s a really nice case.
It has the molle webbing put in here, so you can attach it to your belts or to a backpack, something like that has some really nice cushion internal cloth, and here we have the night vision monoculars. These are designed to look exactly like real aan pvs-14 at a polymer housing. For the most part, the looks like the eyepiece adjustment here is actually made out of metal and just same thing with the objective lens is made out of metal I mean everything else looks like it’s a polymer, so we have the objective lens focus: eyepiece lens you focus through the different diopter settings batteries, and then we have the on-and-off knob, as well as the brightness for the little IR feature that this has congested there.
So let’s go ahead and one stall the batteries as you can see, it’s got these two little levers. You just pull those in and this will pop off I’m using gloves too by the way, I don’t like to get my fingerprints all over these, because I do test these prior to ship. It amount I test each one. So even though I listed as new, they have been tested or make sure you guys don’t get something.
That’s defective. It’ll. Tell you right here, the plus and minus polarity now putting putting this cap back on is a little bit tricky. If you try to press these in and get in there just right, it’s a little hard, so easiest way is just to grip, it like so and then the top and then just push and it’ll snap in just like that. If you try to fiddle around with just squeezing them and pushing them that way, then it is good.
It’s kind of difficult all right, so turn it on not sure if you can see so they did come on now. If you want to focus these, the easiest way I found is to start with the objective lens. Just turn it counterclockwise all the way to the image is out of focus and then slowly turn it clockwise. Until the image becomes crisp and then stop, then you go to the eyepiece and do the same thing turn it counterclockwise.
The image will get blurry again and then, after which turn it clockwise, slowly until it’s crisp and then stop and then once you do that you should be in focus, you may have to go back to the objective lens and just redo that one by turning it counterclockwise and then turn on clockwise. Until it’s as crisp as possible, and then you should be good to go this little eyepiece cover here, actually pops off like so in case.
You want to clean it or whatever clean the lens, and then it just pops right back on pretty easily what I like to do when I’m, storing it I like to just kind of fold this back. Just that way, it kind of keeps its shape a little bit better. Now for the mounting. Both of these mounts actually come with the little mount screw already pre attached to it, and it’s actually it’s locked in it doesn’t come out at 6, it’s held in by an e clip.
So in order to mount this onto the monocular you’re gonna see it’s got a little notch right. There just lining it up with the notch it’s on and then tighten it down. That’s it and then this particular weapon mount like it’s size for a standard, 20 millimeter receiver, and that should be everything so I really hope you enjoy them. They’re, nice, nice, goggles and now we’ll take them out and we’ll test them out in the dark and see how they work.
Hello. Today, we’re going to do some testing on these pvs-14 style, monocular night vision, goggles, see I got it mounted here on my tripod best I can using the weapon mount that comes with them. We’re out here in the middle of a golf course pretty dark night, there’s zero illumination, no moon, so everything’s going to be going off starlight and the built-in infrared feature that these come with.
Now you can’t tell, but we’ve got a an intruder coming in from off in the distance, and this is with my flashlight on now. I turn off all all right so now with flashlights off, and this is what it looks like just pitch black all right. So let me get this mounted here, adjusted! Oh, you can start to see them now, there’s some Lightning off in the distance.
So you might see some flashing. That’s not the it’s! Not the goggles! That’s just the lightning! In the background. Let me get this focus a little better ice, and now he he’s about 30 meters. I’m gonna. Have him walk slowly up to me, so you can see what it looks like as he’s approaching. Alright go ahead, start walking towards me. Slowly! Stop all right! Now he’s about 20 meters.
As you see, these things have a zoom built into them and I notice as they get closer. You have to sort of refocus it. A little I can’t see him. The my naked eye. I can just see him through the scope all right, so that’s probably as good as it’s gonna get focus. One of me. It’s also going to be a little bit better when you just look at them with your eyes as opposed to trying to kamcord video through this, alright go ahead and walk forward.
Slowly, so I’ll tell you, stop okay, stop all right! So now he’s about 10 meters. Just now you can see them really well crops down just a little and again I still cannot see and with without looking through the scope, so they are definitely amplifying the light. The IR features on the night-vision scope is what’s lumen, ating them right now, for the most part, I said zero illumination out here, there’s no lights out in the middle of this course.
It’s also a little overcast with the storms. Coming just give you an idea when we pull the camera back off, just to show you as I pull it up. Just you cannot see them. I can turn the camera light off. So that’s the camera light on still can’t see them. Oh there he is about ten meters away lining so pretty neat device. They definitely work for night vision, great for running around wargame out in the nighttime.
You could definitely see someone sneaking up on you before, or you could sneak up on someone else, for they could see you either way and that’s it.
Really wish the old to camera trick would do this thing justice, but this is a digital night vision device from the Chinese and I’m giving I. It’s really hard to get this thing that you know it seems to give me something when I’m on a little side focus and all that’s tricky- it’s almost like. It only gives it to me from an off angle through the camera. You know, I’m, sorry, for the quality of the video I’m, going to try and see if I can get one of these.
That has a recording interface or something because this is really interesting. I’m in a semi lit environment. Okay, you can see that there’s street lamps, the normal iPad camera, isn’t going to pick up very much here. Obviously, and obviously it’s a digitally enhanced camera on using this Chinese pvs-14 clone at a distance. The little tilted error that this thing has seems to not matter as much now. Up close, it definitely matters, but I like the little bit of magnification that it gives me and one of the issues with conventional.
My vision gear is that the magnification really distorts things with this. It seems to make things a little better, but there there really is a lot to say about its self adjustment between lit and unlit areas where conventional green screen, night vision gear will simply blind itself out I’m able to look in the shadows with this fairly well and as I look into, let’s say, an area that has a lot of artificial light. Of course it will go to color, but in real darkness.
It’s it’s a black and white image, a true black and white image, not a green and white image and the I can make out a lot of detail. I, don’t think it has field-of-view that a genuine pvs-14 has but I I keep coming away with the conclusion. This is not a [ __ ] device, all right. It’s it’s, not [ __ ] equipment. It’s it actually seems it can look through through glass to some degree, whereas if you look at a lit window through a night-vision device, it is you know it just blinded out with this I.
Don’t know it does work it not great, but it does work. I would if I were if I were having to do observation on a building that, let’s say didn’t have curtains I would probably want to use conventional binoculars, but if you can see through the iPad camera down this street, very little can be made out now with the naked eye. I can actually see this much better, but with a digital night vision. It’s you know it’s reminiscent of a thermal image, because thermal imagers tend to digitally interpolate stuff, and it’s it’s not bad.
Now, I’m, looking at an aircraft, you can see that I’m actually getting more detail with the naked eye or perhaps, if I had a binoculars to look at it with I’m. Getting a little more detail than I do through the device. Doesn’t quite do that for me, but in these really dark areas and again, probably because they has a lot to do the fact that it is an active night-vision devices, an active IR, illumination I’m really able to look at these shadows with not a lot of distortion.
Okay, it’s kind of like looking at things in a black and white snowy day anyway, I’m gonna, upload this and screw around with man. I really wish I could show you what’s going on, but it seems to only want to do this when it’s at an off angle. Anyway, more later.
