Hey everybody: this is pj reilly from lancaster archery got a product video for you today. We wanted to tell you about the trophy ridge. Whisker biscuit v-rest, whisker biscuit is a super popular rest, especially among hunters. That’s been around for a while, and this is trophy ridge’s upgraded version of that it is still a brush style, full containment rest. But what you’re going to notice is the name is that it’s, the whisker biscuit v you’ve got a v in the center there, where your arrow sits rather than the old circle.

The issue with the old circles was first off there. If your arrow fit it perfectly, you had lots of surface contact from the bristles around the arrow. Also, if you moved between different sizes of arrows, you had to get different size rests. There were different bristles for those arrows. If you had small diameter, you went with a small one. If you had a larger diameter, you had to go one with a more open hole so with the v that eliminates that, because your small diameters can fit in there, your larger diameters they’re all going to situate themselves into that v and because of the v now you’re, really only having contact on two sides of the arrow, rather than all the way around it.

So that’s going to have less resistance, as the arrow is sliding through and coming out of the bow. So the whisker biscuit v is the simplest version of the whisker biscuit in that it only has adjustments for windage. That’s right here screw. You would loosen this and you can move the rest left or right for elevation. You’re gonna have two bolts. Some risers you’re gonna have two holes in the riser. If you do, you can mount both of these screws in that’s gonna, give you the most secure fit, and so then for elevation.

You would adjust your knocking point to match the rest so that you can get perfect arrow flight. That way. Also this each rest is ambidextrous right now. I have this set up as a right-handed configuration for left-handed. I would just turn it around. You would unscrew this and reverse it mount it on the other side, and so now this would be left-handed with your connection point sitting back this way, so every one of them is left or right handed.

They can work equally well, both ways, so that is the trophy ridge whisker biscuit v: full containment, arrow rest. If you like this video give us thumbs up. Hello: everyone thanks for coming outside me today. Today, I would like to look at how I tune a whisker biscuit style rest. It can be a little bit difficult to tune so I’d like to go through all the steps that I take to ensure that I’m getting good Aero flight and, in fact, I actually skip paper tuning, which is my usual method for tuning air arrests for drop aways in particular, I go right into bare shaft tuning right into group tuning with my flex shaft.

So the purpose of you making this video is an assumption that you are getting your first bow. It’s a beginner bow or intermediate style bow, or maybe you want to shoot a flagship with a bit whisker biscuit and you want to tune it. So you don’t really have a whole bunch of equipment. Don’t have a whole lot of tools.

You just have a standard set of allen, keys to help move your rest around and all that sort of stuff and you’re, probably just getting stock arrows from your local Pro, Shop or online. These aren’t stock. Arrows I have cut and Fletch these to my specifications, but the idea is still the same: I’m gonna take a already Fletch, shaft and I’m going to rip the flight jeans clean off it just like I was to get a stock shaft from my local Pro Shop or online I’m.

Actually, gonna cannibalize, one out of the half dozen dozen, that I have I’m gonna rip the fletchings off and shoot a bear, shaft and shoot the rest of them. Maybe reflect this one later down the road. Something that’s gonna really benefit you in your bear. Shaft is having knocks that are a bright color. If you have a dark red, blue or black nock, it’s gonna be hard to see it in flight.

If you have something that’s white, green or fluorescent orange, which most arrows come with that some sort of color scheme these days, it’s really going to help you in your bear shaft tuning identifying how your arrow is flying. Also, you want to target like a block target or I my personal choice: Murrell high-roller, 21, a bag target or other type of bag targets.

They are a little bit lumpy on the inside and you can have an arrow that goes in one way and then ends up kicking the other B or goes up or goes down if you’ve ever shot a group of arrows into a bag target before you know that sometimes one sticking of one stickin to the left, one sticking to the right- and they might not be grouped well together in terms of how they’re sticking into the target whether your bow is tuned or not.

So it’s really helpful to have a foam style target. My morale, high-roller 21, is pretty beat up, but it still stopping arrows. Just fine. It’s allowing me to see if my nock is sticking to the left or right, which is really what I’m going for initially and helping me tune my bow and tune this whisker biscuit a whisk, biskits breasts and other containment cell rests or blade rest hold the arrow or have contact with the air of the entire time until the arrow completers completely clears the bow, which means that if you are torquing the bow or lifting up lifting it down, it’s still going to be in contact with the arrow and can cause it to kick one way or the other, which can cause your tune to go out and can cause your sight to be showing all sorts of weird things and your groups to be showing all sorts of weird things.

So I like to bear shaft tune. So I can see if I can get a consistent tail, kick either left or right with the arrow. So my whisker biscuit is just set up to factory specifications. I have my arrow running from the location of the D loop right through the burger buttonhole, which is the part where you would bolt the rest into the riser.

You can see it on this side and I’m running it as level as I, possibly can just eyeballing it and then, and it comes to center shot in terms of the left or the rest is left or right. I’m running at thirteen sixteenths of an inch from the riser, which is the elite manufacturer recommendation. Most bow. Companies are recommending that you start at thirteen sixteen and tune the bow from there.

So I’m simply going to knock an arrow on to the bow, take a shot in the target and hopefully I see either a left kick with the nock being on the left side of where the arrow is sticking into the target or the arrows gonna be sticking on the right side. If it’s sticking perfectly straight, that’s awesome. That’s the ultimate goal, but 99% of the time there’s gonna be a little bit of a tail.

Kick don’t worry about up and down just yet we’ll deal with that. First, it’s best in tuning Barre, shaft or paper tuning to deal with your left and right kicks. First before you start worrying about up and down all right, so we’re about 10 12 feet from the target nock to bare shaft, we’re gonna, let it fly and see which way it’s sticking into the target looks like we have a knock right, which is fixable.

So let’s take a look at the target and see what I’m talking about so, as you can see in relation to the target face, you see that the nock is sticking to the right of where the point impact of the target, so this would have come out as a knock right tear. Now when it comes to our tears that are left in right, we need to chase the point.

So if the point is going to the left, we need to move our rest to the left. If the point is going to the right, we need to move our rest to the right, and this is why I worry about left-right tears first and worry about the up-and-down. The height of the knock doesn’t look too bad. It looks like it could be just a little bit knock hi, but I’m not too worried about that at this point.

I want to try to get that arrow, so it comes from being over here to being straight level into the impact point of the target, so whether you need to move your rest left or right and how much is kind of a guessing game. A lot of the whisker biscuits have hash marks on them and you can just kind of move it over a 16 32nd of an inch just knowing what I know about bows, I’m, probably about two inches knock right.

Two and a half inches knock right, so I’m going to move this over a full, sixteenth and a hair to the left, because I need to follow the point of the arrow. The point of the arrow came and left so whisker. Biscuits aren’t super easy to move. Sometimes I’m gonna take the back end of my allen, wrench and try it from there now I’m only doing one shot at a time, but it doesn’t hurt to do multiple shots, especially if your first new into archery and your form isn’t quite figured out yet, like I said earlier, you’ve got to watch that torquing of the bow if you’re torquing the bow one way or another, and it’s not consistent.

You’re gonna get different tears and different kicks. If you will so you, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to shoot multiple shots to make sure you’re getting a consistent kick either to the left or the right looks like I moved it too far. Let’s go take a look so now, as you can see, from the face of the target, our nock is actually on the left side of where it impacts the target not by much, maybe about an inch so I moved it a little bit too far over so I’m gonna move the rest back to the right, I’m chasing the point.

Remember so: I move it back to the right and get that arrow back in line and see. If we can get it dead, nuts straight at 10 to 12 feet over, that’s the beauty of having that bright, green nock I can see perfectly down the back end of the air. Shaft I can see that green nock is right in line with the arrow and how I shot it into the target.

It’s perfect left and right, so we’re gonna step back to about 15 20 feet, shoot it again and confirm that it’s still flying straight. It also does look like it’s shooting a little bit. Knock hi and I’ll explain how to fix that. Alright, so I’ve moved back to about 20 25 feet, I’m gonna shoot it again, make sure I don’t have any left or a right kick, and it’s see if that knock high kick is still there and if it is how I can fix it, alright, so that shaft is still flying really well, it’s try it flying really straight.

It’s not gonna, be perfectly straight forever. It is still just a whisker biscuit. You’re still, gonna have a little bit of shooter imperfection shooter air. It came out just a skosh right, but I’m not too worried about that. This is still a good distance. My fletchings are gonna, be able to compensate for that little bit over a long distance I’m, not too worried about it.

I would rather, my fletchings have to do as little work as possible, so if it’s a little right, little left little up little down, I’m, ok with it as long as I get it as straight as I can, with my shooter err. However, it was still shooting a little bit knock high, which means it was impacting the target a little bit of an angle.

So if you think about this with the bow itself, that means that as the air was coming out of the bow, the nock is sitting higher than the rest of the air, which means I need to move my rest up or my D loop down. It’s a lot easier to move your rest and is to move your D loop. It looks like I will still be running through the burger buttonhole, like I talked about earlier, so I’m gonna move my rest up a little bit to try to get that to level out and hopefully, it’ll shoot a little bit straighter again.

You just need small incremental movements. A little will go a long way, so I’ve moved it up of maybe a 16 32nd of an inch I’m gonna shoot it again and see if I can get rid of that tail high. That knock high. Kick super happy with that. Let’s go take a look alright! So, as you can see in terms of the target, we might still be I stopped fuzz to the right, but you notice that the arrow is impacting in line is parallel to the ground as possible.

Now it’s not gonna, be perfect. Cuz I’m, pretty tall I’m 64 we’re at a pretty short distance, so in about 20 25 feet. So if it’s still a little bit knock high, that’s not a problem, but that’s flying pretty darn straight! That’s flying pretty darn! Well! So now we’re ready for the next step, which is group tuning with fledged arrows alright, so we’re still at about 20 25 feet, I’m going to shoot Fletch, shafts, first and I’m, just gonna aim at the same dot, I, don’t care where the arrows fly.

I will just want them to group. So my sights aren’t on that’s not a problem. I’m still, just gonna put my top pin in the center at the bottom right, dot, send flex, shaft, downrange and then I’ll shoot the bear Shay last and see if they’re pretty close and grouping with each other. It sounded really good. Let’s go take a look all right, so I was aiming at the center of this bottom-right dot.

Everything hit hi into the left a little bit. You see that bear shaft is sticking out on the left side, but we still have about an inch-and-a-half group at 20 25 feet. So that’s pretty solid I now want to go back to maybe 20 25 yards and see if it’s still an egregious issue or not. If that bear shaft is still flying semi straight I.

Don’t expect it to be flying perfectly straight because there’s no fletchings on it to correct any of the issues, but I want to see if it’s still within maybe three inches to three inches and as long as it’s not tailing off weight, one way to the left or right, I’ll be pretty happy with that and I’ll be ready to start shooting all right.

So, according to my rangefinder were about 20 21 yards target set up down there, we’re gonna shoot two more flood. Shafts shoot the bear chef with it see if everything is relatively grouping together and if it is I’ll adjust my sights and get to shooting all right. So here’s our 20 21 yard group, it started to come down there a little bit cuz.

He weren’t as close the bear shafts there on the bottom, and it looks like we have probably about a two inch group there between the three shafts the to flood shafts are definitely within an inch inch and a half each other. So I am super pleased with that. Think. This biscuit is ready to hit the woods so I’m gonna keep shooting here, but that’s all for this video, if you have any questions about tuning whisker, biscuit or any other type of rests or any other Bo.

Hey: what’s up it’s Marty with bear drop away versus a whisker biscuit. Okay, we’ve got the bear. Kuma 30 set up with the sink MD, it’s a drop away. Arrow rest. We got the bear kuma. The original kuma set up with a whisker biscuit, that’s your shot pro some people say: there’s pros and cons to each and I agree with him. One of the pros – this one right here is you get full arrow-containment, but it totally drops away from your arrow. When you shoot okay, this one, the Flushing’s have to go through those bristles.

Every time you shoot, one of the cons, I would say that gets in the way of your arrow touches the arrow. Does it slow it down yeah a little bit one of the pros. You don’t have to set this up every time you shoot, you don’t have to take it down or have it take itself down. Alright, when you shoot this one full arrow-containment, silent, 100%, accurate every time, it’s not moving and it’s reliable and it’s pretty much foolproof. That’s it’s great to teach people with as well.

It doesn’t matter what you end up. Getting they’re both awesome products, it’s all personal preference, whether you want to drop away or a whisker biscuit either way. Trophy Ridge makes awesome products. It’s gonna, look good! It’s gonna work good on your bear. Archery bow and you’re. Gonna love, either option good luck, shoot straight, BC, safe and have fun.

One of the arguments against the whiskey biscuit is people feel like the problem of speed, but it certainly adds a lot of convenience, so I’ve got our load and I’m out looking around a bush or shooting range literally I can turn the thing upside down and it still stays in the same spot. So it’s really convenient. If you’re walking around the bush and you’re worried about your ego, – making noise I mean if I’m holding it like this and I shake the boat. There’s no noise coming from the rest of all nothing, so it’s dead quiet and if you are trying to kind of maneuver around it or stay at the same spot.

That’s if you’ve got something like to drop away even with felt around the rest. You’ll still get a little bit of noise because it’s got little room. Even the ones with the containment are those kind of risks. You can still make noise because they were a little bit. If you get a whiskey biscuit and the hole size has fitted to your arrow bed, yeah pretty bulletproof as far as walking around outside, try not to make noise keeping arrow loaded, I’m also shot with these in the snow side arrested froze over I’ve sort of fathers, that’s really still us on the rest by hiring practice exactly the same.

So as far as resistance to weather and stuff like that, you can’t really follow them. So what we’re trying to do is get a base. Reading for the back freezer, with the whiskey biscuit, install and I’m going to go, put a drop away on it and see if there’s any real difference between our speed that the getting out of the bows we’ve had 247 and 246, which is very similar or we’re getting before this video as well. In there 247 246 marking now I’ve put a queue. Adhd egg stressed from playing installed on that and we’re going to shoot, same area, same distance, same boat and see fuel kind of difference from get into speed.

252 again, so the alternate 52 3 times of the drop away. So we’re getting about five to six feet per second more out of the drop away arrest, which is I mean that’s not a what yeah till we now just a few percent increase in speed. So if you are chasing speed, that’s really really good, but as far as the actual maneuverability of the rest and the risk abyss, it does have a lot of positives to them. I describe an air about target, so if I ever stole an arrow into this Q&E rest, you can see as it’s sitting down it’s not loaded.

So you can flick this leave on the side here below it. As I’m walking around you can kind of hear like you can wobble a little bit against the sides of the rests. Now you can put felt on there, which will make it wider, but you’re still going to hear that with that containment bar I can kind of throw my bio around it stays in there, but it does obviously move position. So, if you’re looking for that, little bit of extra speed to drop away, we’ll give you that, but as far as the noise and the bush, the risk of this stick gives you down a little bit extra removability, I guess without making a whole heap of noise.

What I would say that either of these rests, though, when you’re looking for a rest, if you’re buying a kit obviously comes with what’s kind of on the boat, but if you’re kidding out of their boat you’re looking at a rest, qad a trophy which does a base-model screech. So there’s a trophy bridge, just added whiskey biscuit, which is about 60 70 bucks, which will come in the cruiser packet averted, horizontal adjustment and a vertical. So when you attach that to the boat, if it’s attached to a bow, that’s not the bear! You might have issues with your height.

You kind of have to thank all the rest to try and get your knocking point level, whereas if we go for the higher model, which I believe is a sure shot, 160 170 that’ll give you micro adjust vertically and horizontally, which is especially for China to broadheads, which you’re going to be using out of a hunting, bow, it’s really hard to do and having that micro adjusts compared to something like the qad. The base model of micro, adjusters HDX, which is around a 250 dollar mark. So it’s about $80 difference between the biscuit and the driveway.

You’ve got to have that micro adjust. If it’s your first blow that you’re just shooting it’s fine to have the standard rest. It comes with if you’re really trying to get serious about shooting, broadheads or just having a target by the performance. Better you’ve really got to have that micro adjust at the rest, because if you’re, shooting and you’re broadheads going half an inch high and you try to adjust it, and it’s got a macro adjustment where it’s just an allen key that loosens it you physically pushing the rest up to adjust it.

You push it too much and you can’t remember, marks you’ve got it on or the position you had a min you’re back to square one. So if you’re really trying to find you, you brought it all bare, shafts or whatever you’re trying to shoot with micro, adjust rests, are definitely needed. So a good mid-range is something like the qat HDX for a drop way or the whiskey biscuits your shot. If you’re looking for that kind of full containment rests, and both of these are available about Eliza archery, you.

Here we are our dreams, our three dreams, urgent, calm, 2011, 88, so I’m here with Anthony at the bear booth, trophy trophy Ridge. What what does this brand arrest? You guys have come out with cuz everybody’s familiar with the whisker biscuit they’ve just made some changes, a newer model right, well kind of I. Think what we’re doing with the trophy Ridgeline is we’re introducing as long live the king, the king being the whisker biscuit and what we had is for 2010.

Last year there was no micro adjust up and down feature available on the quick shot wish missile, which is Ray later yep. For, however, for 2011 we put in the micro adjust up and down will allow you to choose, get your true center quite a bit faster without him, the movie loop or you’re, not okay, and we got true right and left here and then we’ve got a rubber, a rubber coating. One question: a lot of people ask about a whisker biscuit is why do we have brown bristles and black bristles? And what can you explain later you want me to do this sure? Can the black bristles are just a little bit stiffer to hold the center aero weight as it’s pushing down on the shadow move around the bow inside the inside air arrest? Okay, so guys, what’s going to happen, is your top bristles actually gonna you’re going to basically shoot odd vane straight up for it, and it’s gonna go like this, which so these guys held the same works? Here’s your odd vane! It’s not the easiest here! Your odd mains been go straight up, but what that’s going to do is that’s going to make the the black bristles just keep that guy a little more sturdy.

The brown bristles are a little softer, so it’s not going to slow it down quite as fast right. That’s 100%, correct guys, whisker biscuit, keep coming out with new innovative products. All right guys on today’s tip, I’m going to talk about paradox package bow and it comes with a d-loop on it and one of their whisker biscuit arrow rests. Everything is leveled from the factory. So when you purchase one of the bear package bows, they come ready to shoot. Another thing we like about the whisker biscuit style arrow rests is these things are tried and true they’ve been around for years. They are just an awesome hunting rest because you can put your arrow in that rest and you don’t have to worry about it, falling off of your rest as you’re moving the bow around up and down crawling around on game or whatever.

So, if you’re, looking for an easy uncomplicated way to get to the field check out the bear package bows and also look into these whisker biscuit style, arrow rests. You won’t be disappointed. They are an awesome, all-around hunting rest, especially for white tail hunters taking shots at deer inside of 40 yards.

We have made the whisker biscuit better, I know, I know you probably don’t think that we could do that, but we have- and we are here to introduce to you a new line of whisker biscuit. The whisker biscuit is a great product and still an amazing product have out there, but we wanted to make it better and keep innovating with the line of whisker biscuits and, as you can see here, we’ve got four different models to hit them any price point that you can think of.

So if you’re just an entry-level and you just want to get into it- we’ve got an arrow rest for that in all of our lives, my apparel rest as well. So let’s go into some of the features here that make this rest just different than the listserve is a great overall rest. So, first off it is a full capture arrest. So you can see here. I got one on my boat, I’m gonna, put it an arrow in here and once it’s in there, it doesn’t matter where you move your bow, I mean literally, you could shoot this boat upside down.

If you want to the arrow is not moving out of that rest. So number one is a full containment arrest that pulls your arrow completely captured through the whole character, all cycle and shot. One of the coolest thing about the line of biscuits. Is this the notch technology, as you can see, when you put an arrow in here you, your arrow, naturally aligns to. It naturally aligns down the bottom so that your arrow will always fall and use gravity in the middle to be federally aligned when you’re at full trough or when you’re shooting in in the past.

You know with normal whisper biscuits as you drew or torque your bow or move. There was a lot more points of contact here, there’s only two points of contact because of the v-notch technology. So that’s the whisker biscuit the whisker biscuit, and it is really just one of those things that we didn’t think that we could make better, but we continue to make it better so I’m going to go through now the three, our four different models of what your biscuit beat. So the first one here is just the overall lowest price point: it’s an ambidextrous rest.

So, no matter, if your left hand or right hand, you can shoot it. This is the list for biscuit, beat it’s the bottom line. It still has you know your horizontal adjustments, but it doesn’t have some of the things that the higher end whisker biscuit. B has the next one that we want to go into is the beak on the pecan brings a step up from the feet. The v+ actually is the next step up from the whisker biscuit me, and basically, what is the step up? Is that not only do you get your normal horizontal adjust adjustments on the rest, but you get a vertical adjustment as well.

This is going to help you tune that girl and your arrow fly. It’s so much better and we go up even more to the vite con. So this is the beak on the beak on brings in a an all-metal aluminum housing. So some of these are made out of a ballistic copolymer, where these are made out of the machined aluminum. So it’s a little bit more durable and a little bit more high-performance. There’s a capture to keep your arrows and help them flow a little bit better, but the overall staying, v-neck, v-notch technology and then the last one you can see here is the V Max and the V Max.

Basically right here allows you to have even more adjustment, so there’s micro adjustment here that will allow you to adjust horizontal and then vertical as well and really just overall customize that shot to be so much better when you release an arrow or when you’re out there coming and just in the target. Setting. One thing that is great about this is: we are able to use micro diameter arrows any size. Arrow is going to fit naturally into that V, because it uses gravity to just fall down and sit there.

So you can see that if I had a smaller micro diameter arrow, it would just fall naturally down into that bottom B, and so there’s no difference inside the original. Mr Biskit, so that’s the whole line and you can see a lot of those adjustments and how it changes from price point on line at trophy British. Comm from all of us here at trophy bridge, I’m really excited about it. I, don’t think. I didn’t think that we could make the list or biscuits better. But this is fun. Oh right here and I’ve got one on it and I’m going to be shooting at this season.
