We're out here we got a couple weeks to. My elk cut so getting the muzzle are all dialed in try not a few new loads and get it. Dialed in. That was good babe. Ten rounds to the muzzle 150 dreams of. Blackthorn two or nine powder with a hornady 300 green bullet, and she's. Shooting wild, but we're gonna go ahead and try out the ben parker 300 green. Match hunters and see if that helps. So we just shot our last group of 150. Grain black horn 209 with the bob parker. 300 grain bullet and she's shot pretty. Decent i don't know that's a best group. But still playing with it, and we'll see how it goes until next time well had to call back up my own ones. Armory my saving grace we're gonna. Figure this out what do you get a shoot. First we're gonna shoot three green or. Three pellets of triple seven magnums so. I get 180 beans a powder and the marisha. Wintergreen hornady out of it and see how that shoots so this morning we're. Shooting and we were cleaning it too much if you can believe that. So now we're going to try and clean it less and hope that we get some more. Rifling out of the bread maybe clean it more without solvent so much solvent so. We think the power would get wet when you're watching the videos too don't reference off the hose lines how. It takes a lot oh yeah. Did you jerk it oh hey closer huh. That is what i'ma do today. I mean honestly that what we're gonna do. Now so you want that yeah what we're. Gonna do now is we're gonna let it cool clean it does the exact same thing one more time and then um we're gonna you. Now what i mean and then let's shoot another one, and we know that the heat is the problem so you get to i think that's. All you're getting bigoted — all right. We just left owens army and worked out a. Few kinks in the muzzy shooting pretty good we're shooting. About a to each group and do a little bit more fine-tuning than the more to suit their chrono, and then we're going to get a stretched-out pretty excited hopefully. Next time we shoot it'll be good. You.
Today we're gonna test-fire the. Remington 700 ultimate muzzle loader do. Some siding in i got a new leopold scope. On there, so we're gonna do some shooting and see if we get it sighted in and maybe i get a chance to show you some of the powders and some of the bullets and suppose that i use all right how long we shoot in a Remington we're gonna shoot this a cba optima pistol optima be to. Use 100 grains of triple7 3f along with. These barns pdx bullets 44 for 29. Diameter 44 mag 225 green i shot two. Deer to doze with it last year and i was. Really happy with the performance so this is just more of a demonstration on. The gun squeeze this right here and the. Break should open. Number 209 shotgun primer right there. Cocked a hammer and you're ready to go. A little bit of recoil this is the Remington 700 ultimate muzzle-loader. It's capable of using 200 range of black. Tolerance 290 green bullet 11 inches. Drop at 200 yards 24 inches and drop the. Unique think about this post loader it's a second system uses a 30 caliber rifle. Cartridge cut down to drop in here. Formzee completely weather tight seal. This does not have to be pulled off to be clean it just like a regular muzzle-loader you don't have to pull the preach book now I'm always shooting 100. Grains of powder right now just to just. To cite it in because I've got a brand-new scope bore sight i will work up the. Grain each I'm using a barnes 290 grain. Tmz bullet with 8mm p sub old out of. Arkansas it's a two-part subo it has a. Base cup and a sub oh so it forms two. Gases. You saw it go off at a hundred grains now this is going to be a hundred and fifty grains of triple7 3f. You can see me who did it now these are. The sabbats that i was talking about these are two-piece sabbats suppose they. Go together just like this so it forms two — gasps seals this is the bullet. That I'm using the 290 grain barnes tmc. It's boattail 290 grains polymer. Aerodynamic tip solid copper this is the. Szabo that they come with now my experience with this was and 200 grains. I would shred these i would burn through. These seals so i went to mmp suppose and. I bought these two-piece high pressures habits they low it's super easy form to. Gas seals, and they really improve my accuracy again this is going to be 200. Grains. Now I'm only going to use this at 150. Greens this year just cuz i don't have. The time to spend more time citing it in. This is 150 grains of powder at 50 yards. It's about two inches high which is just where i want it that'll get me out to three out to 200 yards now if i spent more time. Practicing with the 200 grain load i. Would be capable to do 300 yards i. Just don't have the time mission without. Measuring it but i believe this is the round the 300 greens that i shot. Excuse me 200 greens is this. Round right here as you can see it's about 5 inches higher than the 150 green. Church but I'm not going to spend more. Time on it so if you're looking to buy. An inline muzzle-loader i really do. Recommend this Remington ultimate. With that sealed system the big pieces. They're easy to handle with a glove hand they carry extras right here they literally drop right in no fuddling. Around with primer holders and little pieces of metal and it forms a. Watertight seal and it is a very. Accurate gun then very happy I've never. Had a misfire I've left charges in it for over a month. At a time leave the gun outside hunting. Rain in all kinds of weather and it's gone off every time but like any gun you. Really have to play with it you really have to check your loads out and try different loads just because. Of what the factory recommends or what this person shoots does it do not mean. Anything to your gun i have found it what this one works with this one out. And if something else comes along I'll try something else with. This is the what's left with the sub oh. Out of it at a hundred 150 grains you. Can see the gas seal still in check i didn't find the little cup missing one. Petal but the other ones i have found have all been intact and in good shape. This is one i just found i don't know if. This was the 200 greens or i had one. Bullet that really loaded really hard this might have been from that and this shows that loading consistency is everything this is the harvester cybil. That i use in my pistol my cva optimum. You can see the gas seals folded right. Over but that pistol holds really good. Groups I'm only gonna shoot it at 50. Yards it is capable of hundred yards but I'm only gonna shoot it at 50 that's the. Max i killed two deer with it last year the furthest was 40 yards do you have. Any questions please put them in the comment section happy shooting and good. Hunting.
This is one of the older original. Remington 700 mls it's been equipped. With a savage style breech plug and 209. Primer holder so we'll take a few shots. Today the whole idea is to determine how. Much the conversion has cleaned up what used to be an incredibly filthy action heard of the shooting you should be able. To see how clean the action is right now. It's squeaky clean primer holder. Integral with the bolt take a few shots. We're going to use black horn 209 of godson a hundred grain volumetric charges. Actually 70 grains by weight we use some. Several premium trophy copper bore lock. Bore and we'll try a couple different. Brands of primers winchester in federal just to see what primers happen to fit. The best but then a target set up at 100. Yards so let's take a few shots we'll put the. Dog away and away we go the scope we're. Using is just a weaver classic fixed for. Power scope so certainly not a high magnification target scope by any means but for hunting purposes that's all you. Need out to 150 175 yards with ease and. The beauty of the fix power scope of. Course is generally they're lighter weight a little bit brighter because. You've got fewer lenses to go through and. You got constant i release the eye. Relief eye the eye relief never changes it can't because the magnification of. Course never changes so i have no idea. If we're going to be on the paper or not but let's take a few shots and see what happens. That was a little bit of a hang fire there which i didn't like a slightly. Delayed fire but of course i didn't. Clean the barrel or anything like that we'll give it two more shots and see if our following shot took care of that issue all right this will be our second. Shot after the initial falling shot we'll see if ignition is a little bit better there could have been a little residual oil in the barrel i have no idea. That unfortunately was a miserable. Blooper shot with no recoil you could. Probably heart by the off sound that was not good ignition at all, so we have a. Potential problem with black horn 209 I'm not sure of the flash hole diameter. But not good news so it sounds like. Triple seven loose powder might be the. Way to go or even pyro decks well bad. News with black horn 209 and the federal. Borer lock that also suggests is going. To be problems with power belts which is. A generality or even worse as far as. Getting a tight seal than the. Federals far worse so fortunately we. Have other projectiles I'm going to use some 300 grain nosler ballistic tips. Which have 458 / 50 and mp sabo's. Through the grain bullets good whitetail. Bullets so we'll see if that solves our ignition problem. That was excellent it cracked right off so obviously if you can use black horn. 209 you're gonna want a nice properly fitting say bow with a three to four thousandth interference fit that loads. Firmly but smoothly first through shots. With the federals the bloopers didn't. Hit the paper I'll take another shot with the 300 grain nosler ballistic tips. And see if we have hit the paper so. The first two shots of the federals bloopers poor ignition didn't hit the. Paper 300 grand osler's very good. Ignition and bingo we're on the paper. Although this is not an accuracy test we're just trying to discuss function. And cleanliness of the breach of the. Retrofitted 700ml and it's always better. If you can hit something. Once again as long as we use in sabo's. Excellent ignition cracked right off. We'll go down and check the target but. The holes are maybe an inch and a half. Away from each other we'll finish off the group before the barrel gets too hot. And then check out the target all right. Here we go with our third shot with the nosler 300 grain ballistic tips well here. It is the first shot was to the right second. Two shots at 100 yards with a four power scope touching holes so that's pretty. Darn good obviously to find the best. Combination anybody would have to go. Through four or five maybe even six little stable combinations touch holes. With the lower 100 yards that's a that's a good deal so as is I'll take a look I've got a. Tape measure. Even with a flyer it's about two and a. Quarter inches, so they're all three dead deer but now the last two were touching. Holes it's got my curiosity up so I'm gonna. Give it a couple minutes of barrel cooling and take it takes another shot. And take a fourth shot and just see what happen okay just for fun we'll take a. Fourth shot these are the bullets and. Stables I'm using 300 green now azure. Ballistic tips well and a good save oh. That's the 458 slice 50mm piece abel. Thinner pedals generally an accurate. Shooter so we'll take another shot see. How it looks okay one more shot with the. Nozzle errs this will be our fourth shot first shot was to the right next to. We're touching, so we'll just see what. Happens here so there we go out first. Shot is the shot farthest to the right. The subsequent three shots with the nozzles 300 grains to touching on the. Third shot of the last three a little. But to the right here's a dog panting out here he's having a good time so. They're not bad our first shot was to the right but the last three shots even though our barrel is getting a little warm two holes touching and one to the right and that's right at inch and a half so without. Doing any low development or trying other combinations that's pretty darn good that's all you're gonna need for whitetail hunting out to 200 yards two. And a quarter or so with other grains of black horn 209 and importantly ignition was flawless as long as we're using. Sabo's so there we are you can see. Compared to the original 3-way ignition system on the Remington 700 ml big. Difference yep there's a little hmong there in the breech but nothing you can't wipe right off we're certainly not burning scopes or anything like that. It's a little bit of normal 209 primer. Residue but not much so it cleans up the. Old 700ml nicely and as far as accuracy. This isn't an accuracy review for a gun. No longer in production but without. Working too hard 100 grains by volume. Black horn 209 300 grain nozzle errs and. Bingo you've got an inch and a half gun so for most hunting applications at. Least east of the Mississippi you're. Good to go inch and a half of versus an 8 to 10 inch kill zones on a whitetail new. Problem solve and this of course is with. The weaver fix for power sculpt so i. Generally would use a little more magnification for poking holes in. Paper 3x9 or to nap by 10 that's my idea of a. General-purpose hunting scope that you can see something when you're checking your trajectory in sighting you. Can see something not so much at 100 yards but at 200 yards when you're when. You're doing your range work 9 or ten. Power magnification comes in handy but certainly there's as far as actually. Hunting for power is plenty actually 100. Yards iron sights are good at least. For my old eyes out to about 100 yards beyond that I'm going to want some. Optics so that's it good job.
Hello guys welcome to hankins custom rifles in another episode of hanks tv. We're down here at the range today test firing some guns and i've got several to do we've done done a few got one more on. The bench for you guys this one is a 45. Caliber smokeless muzzle loader it was built on the remington ultimate action it's basically a remington 700 with a. Solid bottom in it like a 40 x and i. Just converted it over to a brooks barrel and my ignition system you guys are probably familiar with my ignition system and how it works but we put a. Brooks barrel on this gun it's a number six fluted we tried to maintain the. Factory look of the remington the ultimate muzzle loader so we stayed with about the same contour barrel we did. Extend the shank on the gun here so. We've got a 1.2 50 straight for four. Inches and we use the factory ramrod. Ferrule little guy there that's the. Factory guide that come from the remington gun and it fits this barrel. Just about perfect let's see it's not much more to tell you. About this gun other than i you know i pillar bedded it the barrels free floated we put a good scope on here. We've got a knight for space it's a steel base it's drilled in taps for eight forty screws and there's six of those we've got vortex precision mass rings. We've got a vortex scope on this gun and this particular rifle here has the four. To sixteen this is a first focal plane scope and let's see not really much more. To tell you about it's plain plain and simple it's a bell and carlson stock we're going to shoot it three times at a hundred yards see what kind of groups we'd get i've got it bore sighted ready. To go got my powder charges out here we. Reused the factory ramrod so everything. Is pretty much as this factory as we could keep it we've got the factory ramrod retaining mechanism in the stock. It holds your ram right in pretty good but it does slip a little bit under recoil so let's go. Ahead and shoot this thing a couple times see what kind of groups we can get. I'm gonna have to size these bullets. These have not been sized yet just go. Ahead and size all three of them while i'm at it. Okay we got the bullets all sighs i already put the gunpowder in got to. Remember that the powders in there the bullets are loose that sizing guide. Is set up to fit my gun. And my gun runs a krieger barrel and it. Takes about two 4:49 to fit down my. Barrel these right here runs about 450. So this bullet is a little on the small. Side but it'll work fine for testing for. Priming the module in there and we're. Ready to shoot the target. Okay guys it looks like we are about to. Three inches low and an inch or two to. The left but i'm not going to move the scope just yet i want to go ahead and. Shoot a group. And then we'll make an adjustment now. I'm shooting the maximum loads here 78 grains of 4198 i'm shooting the 275. Grade parker beatty bullet and fitting. Down the barrel really easy as you guys can see. The recoil on this gun is uh pretty. Harsh i can take a lot of recoil but this one. Right here hurts so here we go. Let's go ahead and do one more that's. About an inch down there now. I'm not holding real steady my front bag. Does not fit the stock properly so we'll. Be lucky if we can shoot a one-inch group but we'll try and the recoil on. This thing is phenomenal. It absolutely is ridiculous so we'll do. The best we can under our conditions you. Do get a little recoil shy sensitive you. Get antsy you get target panic all kinds. Of stuff comes into play when you've been shooting these things all day and. If you're going to build one of these guns put a muzzle brake on it unless you. Build it to wait 12 to 15 pounds but these little eight pound mind pal guns just beat the crap out of you. You can watch the recoil and scout in. The video there this thing is it's. Kicking pretty hard. You better have a hold of it when you. Pull the trigger okay we've got two in. The exact same hole we got one a little high that was my. Second shot that went a little high on me so what i'm gonna do i'm gonna make a. Scope adjustment get on the fool neither. And i'm gonna call this rifle dud. We've got it sighted in for a hundred yards the guy that owns this rifle it's. Going to come down and pick it up he. Just lives up in ohio so he can come. Down and pick it up and we'll shoot it at my shop a couple times and he'll. Probably say keep it you put a muzzle brake on for me so here it is turned out. Pretty nice guys we've got us a good group down there if you need anything. Hankins custom rifle stock tom look me up online subscribe to my youtube. Channel visit my message board hank's.
