Three layer membrane so you've got a shell fabric you've got the membrane that keeps everything waterproof and then a backer to make sure it stays protected for a long period of time it. Uses our ascent shell membrane which in this package is our lightest and most breathable fabric that we have it also has stretch so you don't have to worry about your fabric binding while you're moving in the alpine we use dynamic reach panels for our patterning so you. Have full range of motion while you're climbing you can get that full extension with your arm and you don't have to worry about it come out of your harness which is a great feature to have we also used a helmet compatible hood so. You can fit it on over your helmet and it's fully adjustable with integrated cord locks so you don't have to worry about hiking with the helmet that's too big and you're getting it blown off we. Used villain center front zipper it's waterproof so it's nice and easy to use so if you need to ventilate really quickly you can just unzip that and don't have to worry about fiddling with some of those stickier zippers we used. Other waterproof zippers on our hand. Pockets and chest pocket that are exposed so you don't have to worry about dealing with those flaps like other rain shells our bottom hem has an elastic. Draw cord in it so you can tighten it down and get a nice snug fit if you need a little bit of extra weather protection or keep some of that heat in and out. Cuffs are adjustable as well to fit over a glove and tighten it down so you don't. Have to worry about that in our left-hand pocket packs in so all the jacket. Reviewing the outdoor research / oç pants I've talked a lot about the first he pants on my in my videos i reviewed. The 3/4 length pants and also the jacket but today I'm reviewing the pants and the first thing i want to say before i. Review these pants is that i am extremely picky with climbing pants i. Would say out of all the articles of clothing for like technical wear or. Outdoor wear I'm I'm probably the most. Picky about climbing pants it's because. I want them to be you know almost feel. Like they're not even there i want them to be breathable and light i don't want. Then to restrict my hip motion i-i've. Pretty long legs and I'm about 6 1 so i. You know anytime a high step i don't. Want to have like thick pants that restrict any motion at all i want them to be breathable and not be too. Hot to wear but at the same time I'm only wearing pants when it's a little bit cold out in the morning or windy out during the day so i also want them to protect my lower legs from the elements. And keep me warm so as you can tell like. The list is pretty long for what i require out of a climbing pant and the. The pants that actually accomplish that list are pretty small but the fur oc. Pants from outdoor research is one. Make and model that actually meets all. Of my requirements for a climbing pant so i like to have talked about before in. My previous videos about the furrows ease this material is really great it's. It's lightweight its breathable its wind. Resistant and it's slightly watered resistant as well so it's just a great. Stretchy material kind of has these magic properties it's its really fantastic but these pants.they are just. There's their form-fitting, but they're not too tight and, and they move myth. With me very well so you know like i. Said I'm super picky about pants but i think that these are our win so. Different from my other reviews i had. Only had the pants for a few months well these are not super old but I've had those other articles there's other. Foressi items for quite some time so i can talk about the durability of the. Foressi material and i can tell you that it's super durable now it may not look. Durable b and the reason is that when. You wear them for an extended period of time or they encounter lots of abrasion against the rock they kind of fray and. Pill kind of like a worn sweatshirt or a. Warm fleece, so they kind of have that pilling action, and they don't look as. Smooth as when they're brand-new when they're brand-new they look super smooth, but they start to fray with wear however. They've never ripped on me and the. 3/4 length pant that I've had i believe for a couple years now the thighs. Are pretty worn looking however they've never ripped I've actually cut my leg or. Like above my knee and actually been bleeding underneath the pant but the pants have never ripped so the material is super adorable and has like a rip stop cape property but even though they. Look like they're worn so don't be fooled you know if you're if you're froz pants or your jacket start to look a little bit worn there they're not going. To rip on you and i don't think they're going to fail so that'll occur about after a season of use they'll start to look that way, but they're gonna keep on going for you but. Other parts of this pant that i really like i really like this thigh pocket this is great for a cellphone it's kind of taped or seamed on there so. It's its really low profile you don't. Even feel that it's there you don't know that it's there just has a small zipper so that's that's a great feature that the back of the. Pant has a zipper pocket on the right rear and you know either. It's gusseted allows free-range of motion and then also unlike their other 3/4. Length pants these have a drawstring closure, and they're really. Well designed the little buckle that. Keeps the elastic drawstring is actually. Hidden kind of like in this little pocket underneath here so it doesn't rub against your leg it doesn't you know. Kind of bother your leg at all and it's kind of just tucked out of the way but. Other than that these are really great pants like i said I'm super picky about. Pants I've only found a couple on the market from different climbing manufacturers that meet my specs you. Now they don't absorb water i really. Like them a lot but the only downside i. See with the fur oc pants specifically. You know the full-length pant these are a regular length now owe our makes a. Short length but they don't make a long. And i really think that they need to make a long again I'm six one, so they're. Just cut a little bit too short from my liking i would prefer if they made a long you know and help dial us tall guys. They already make it short so if you're shorter go with the short if you're tall. Or you know regular height go with the regular but hopefully they make a long. Pant length in the near future and. Another thing with the waist as far as the fit i think the hips fit well at first they feel a little bit tight in. The hip, but they seem to almost come just they just stretch with you and move with you so really great properties of the material inside of the waist has. Like a fleece or a chamois material so. They won't slide if you're wearing you. No like under armour or like boxer shorts underneath they won't kind of slide down they'll stay in place and at the same time wick. A little bit of sweat as well so overall. Give the frosty pants a try they've made. Extremely stretchy to allow full freedom. Of movement, it's about 90 d inden eur so. It's really durable and abrasion resistant as well as you can see it is a. Half zip design so it just comes down to. About the center of your chest or your sternum area to give you a little bit. More breath ability but overall protection down low at the top of the. Zipper we do have a little zipper garage so it's not gonna cause any abrasion or. Scratching us against the skin it won't snag your beard either we do have a. Single chest pocket on the piece and it's a very low-profile lightweight chest pocket good for those smaller items snacks energy gels or anything. Little you may want to keep on you and it is a reversible pocket so you can. Stuff this piece down on itself and have. A nice compact stuff size attach it to your harness or throw it in your backpack if you choose to a neat feature. That we've got on the fro sea wind shirt that will allow you to vent or dump any heat or these kind of arm length or. Forearm length the zipper is so on each forearm we've got a really long zipper there that's gonna open up and allow you to dump that excess heat if you need to. So although the material is very breathable outdoor research incorporates these zippers just to dump that excess heat in the event that you were building up a lot of body heat the fit of this. Piece is a trim fit now I'm wearing a medium here and it's fitting me really tight normally i do wear a large to have a little room underneath to layer but the medium is a really snug fit to. Enhance that fit we do have some partially elasticized cuffs and a single draw cord hem so at the bottom of the piece there is just one draw cord that's really gonna let you draw it in so it doesn't ride up on you but with those super stretchy materials even though this particular jacket is fitting me really tight I've still got plenty of freedom of movement so i really like that material in the froz wind shirt and there you have it's the outdoor research men's fur osi wind. Shirt a great lightweight piece for. Those times when you may be subject to some higher winds.

All right so I'm a 35 waist and i have. On the 32 of the convertible gorilla cps. From outdoor research this is what they. Look like all right it was like impossible for me to buy these all right. So basically these pants can be purchased one size smaller than what you would normally wear if you wear a 36 you can get the 34 if you wear a 34 you can get the 32 they're stretchy pants and. The waistline is slightly stretchy i found that the waistline on the 36 in the thirty-fourth was very stretching and it had no belt or drawstring and if. You're going convertible adding the belt. Kind of adds unnecessary weight the whole idea is to keep your pants out of. Your pack by having pants that convert into shorts now obviously that's kind of. Nerdy but they call it a gear geek for a. Reason you know if your if when you put your pants in your pack the pack in. The pants add weight and bulk to your pack, and they also get wrecked if you. Keep your pants in your pack the whole entire summer you're carrying around something that adds bulk and weight to your pack and your pack is bigger and heavier than it should be and at the end. Of the summer when you go to get your pants they're wrecked they're full of mildew etc so the idea with convertible. Pants is that you're wearing shorts and you don't have your pants in your pack you know if you carried board shorts and kept your pants in your pack yeah board shorts are awesome but having your pants. And your pack is wrong when you have convertible pants you still are wearing. Your pants you have them on you and you can put your ankles from the convertible pants you know you can stow those with. Your poncho or something else that you don't usually use so when. You buy the pants a size smaller than normal like for instance these are a 32 instead of a 34 i don't need a belt so i. Got rid of the belt and also the side pocket which holds your cell phone that. Has a tendency to hit doorways and furniture as you walk past them because the pants are usually too baggy these pants are not baggy they're very straight legs and that prevents your iphone from hitting stuff as you walk by. Because you know like the little 4-inch iphone se it's probably the best phone to bring traveling but it's very fragile if it. Hits a doorway or a table as you walk by because it's in your cargo pocket it's. Broken more or less i mean it damages the phone and so having the hip pocket that cargo pocket close to the. Leg it prevents the phone from hitting. Stuff as you walk by which is a nice feature now i tried on the 36 furro c's. Which were more like a 40 waist 4 oc pants i tried on the 34 which were more. Like a 37 and i tried on the 30s which i. Couldn't they were too small i as well. Tried the 36 in the pro no stretch sian. Convertible pant which was like a very heavyweight a plastic form of denim it. Was like basically denim blue jeans that. Are very tougher for hunting and bushwhacking, but they were made out of plastic so that they dry quicker than cotton, and they were just too heavy. They're 15 ounces i also tried on the outdoor research convertible pants which. Were uncomfortable they don't stretch at all there are only four and a half ounces, so they're half the weight of the other guys but you lose a lot of comfort. With weight with the mountain sorry I'm. Not sure if i said alpha research or mountain hardwear the mountain hardwear mesa convertible pants they're half the. Weight of all the other convertible pants, but they're not comfortable so if. You were to go 36 if you were to get the. Mountain hardwear 36 mesa convertible. Pants in order to make them more comfortable because they don't stretch you would save a little bit of weight but the truth is that the outdoor research fer oc pants can be bought one. Size smaller so you can wear a 32 if you. Wear a 34 the 32 is actually out. Slightly lighter than the 34 so the. Amount of weight that you shave by using the mountain hardwear convertible pants. You can actually get that by going one size smaller with the furrow sees or something similar and I've been wearing the fro c's for a day or two they're very comfortable and very happy with them they're very form fit you know yeah. They kind of fit kind of like a pair of boxers i mean they're pretty tight pants, but they're very breathable and stretchy and comfortable, and they fit perfect, so they've got plenty of pockets they've got two zippered pockets on the back which is important they've got a zippered cargo pocket they've got two pockets on the front now if you go small with these convertibles you'll notice that the two front pockets are not really easy to get your hands into they're a little form fit it's a little bit tight but definitely usable I'm. Pretty happy with this i am also really interested in the Monticello convertible pants because they come with a belt you know they're only 11 ounces and you can. Pull the belt close so you can get that if the 34 is or the thirty-six's are slightly too big you can pull on that you can cinch the belt, and they come in. Cool colors but you know it's another eighty bucks to spend and I'm pretty happy with the frosty's that I've got. They're their correct color and so i don't know why i would buy another pair of convertible pants when i should be wearing these and just learning how to use the ones that I've got you know i think that these are gonna be my go to and i should just figured that figure. Out these 32 waist outdoor research 4 oc. Convertible pants.

The mountains let's take a look at their construction and their materials these pants are constructed with a really nice lightweight but abrasion resistant material and in the side panels and knees or areas where you're gonna see some high wear specifically while climbing they do have a reinforced panel. So throughout the whole side panel here and all the way down to the knee of the pant we've got kind of that extra doubled up reinforced material for. Enhancement durability for the pants some features on these pants include two. Standard front pockets a nice stretchy mesh backed pockets, so they'll enhance. Your breath ability in the pants as well in the back we just have one zippered. Pocket so there's a secure pocket on the back side and one zippered thigh pocket. Here as well so good for storing those smaller items you may want to keep a little bit more easily accessible but also secure on the sides we've got each. Two stretchy little loops, and they're designed for toothbrushes so if you're out bouldering and you need to carry your brushes with you want to have them quick and easy to access we've got these two loops on the sides of the pants and in the back there's a slightly larger loop where you can clip a chalk bag again if you're out bouldering or doing any type of climbing so great little additions to the pants there. We do have adjustment at the ankles of. The pants so you can kind of pull them up to get out of the way of your climbing shoes and cinch them down, so they stay nice and snug there the fit of these pants is a fairly athletic fit so. They fit pretty trim we do have an. Internal draw cord so you can tie those off and keep them nice and tight if you need to and the waistband is a low profile waistband that is stretch knit, so we've got kind of areas in the waistband that are gonna conform to your body in your shape and move with you so it remains really comfortable so a really smart and thoughtful design in the waistband of the pants I'm wearing a. Medium here, and they do stretch to fit really nicely generally i wear two in the waist, and he's fit really well and overall length isn't an issue. My cerium jacket that i have my i keep saying thorium but it's a cerium line the jacket is the same size stuff sack which is weird because the best is much smaller than pudding that i own but the. Different story altogether because the jacket gives me a harvest time and stuff in there so i can stuff this in here could put this in my briefcase if it's like this morning was really cool coming into work if I'm going home and I'm wearing my overcoat i don't need to wear this my overcoat i could just stuff it down like this it's about the size of my fist or something put it rights in my previous and i don't have to worry about it which is really cool it's very warm up warren is down to like zero degrees and below Fahrenheit and it's. Kept me warm with a bigger coat over so. What i like about this and it hugs your body it lacks the hips inches but the. Design of it is that it hugs your body so whatever heat that you have on your. Torso is retaining area so I'll turn. Around so you guys can see how the hem is really long and it has a slightly less location there that hugs your body which is really good so it's. Really won no complaints highly recommended it is pricey and i believe this is the 2016 or 2015 model there are. Newer ones but the retail on these things are like 200 to 300 dollars so. They're very pricey but very well worth it and i prefer this to my patagonia down sweater vests that i had. In a previous video further on is much more because it's lighter than a patagonia down vest and it's just easier. To use and it fits I'm gonna need a lot of my overcoats so i don't recommend. Layer jacket but it's still very. Warm I'd say it's a mid layer jacket largely because of how it fits this is a. Large I'm six-foot to about a hundred. And seventy-five pounds but it's fairly. Snug everywhere even under the arms so it works best underneath the jacket as a. Mid layer basically you have two hand. Warmer pockets here with zip ups a great. Hood with a simple drawstring on the. Back and no pockets on the inside if. I had my druthers i might like a pocket. Here but it just maybe perhaps wasn't. Included because of the extra weight. So this is the arc'teryx cerium lt. Hey guys today i want to do a review of the down jacket i used on my appalachian shelter hike and i use the art eric cerium lt hoody really great backpacking. Down jacket i think this is its main purpose is for backpacking comes in at nine point seven ounces uses about three. A little over 3 ounces of 850 850 fill. Power down which is really nice high quality down and one thing i really like about this jacket and it kind of sets it apart from other jackets in this class is arc'teryx uses core loft 80 synthetic. Insulation in certain places that are kind of known to gather moisture. Normally so like right here this is the. Mouthpiece so you can see the square right here that's core loft insulation so when you have it zipped up your breath just from. The moisture in your breath that can naturally get wet and Karloff does a much better job at staying warm when it's wet than down, so they put core loft right there they also put it on the. Shoulders here which is really good because when you're wearing a backpack strap that can stay warm right. There because it's its keeping it tight against your body also and under arms. Here they use core laughs so this is. Triangle piece right here that's coral oft insulation also notice that the underarm is gusseted which makes it really nice gives you better articulation and there's more range of. Movement so you're not getting bunched up and just makes it more comfortable to wear for a long period of time and the. Last place they put it is right here on the wrist of the jacket so you know all. This right here is core loft and then the rest of it is down super nice i think that's a really good idea and it just makes the jacket kind of you know. The next level kind of jacket that and. Kind of company that arc'teryx is they put out really high quality stuff as far. As fitment of the jacket is also standard arc'teryx nice slim fitting I'm. 6 foot tall and weigh about 150 pounds and the size medium fits me perfectly. It's long in the arms so i can actually it doesn't it doesn't stop short which. Is really nice also on the wrists they have a nice little elastic cuff. Kind of keep it helps keep it tighter around your wrist to help them drafts coming in but really slim fitting but it's you know it's a down jacket so. There's gonna be a little bit poufier but it's slim fitting so you don't feel. Like you're wearing like this gigantic down jacket really great some things i. Would i would use this jacket for are mainly backpacking because of its light. Weight and its warmth to weight ratio is outstanding but also it's a really good. Jacket for around the town just everyday stuff and like in the spring and in the. Fall on chilly days chilly nights this. Is a really good jacket for that because it's a lightweight down jacket it's really not meant for like cold weather like really cold weather winter stuff that's not what it's made for so because. This is primarily a backpacking jacket it does come with a really nice stuff sack unfortunately i can't show you that because i lost it, and they have. Hopefully i can find it i know it's here somewhere i just can't find it right now, but they actually have on the inside of their pockets or one of them anyways. They have a way they have a loop in here that's the drawstring from the. Stuff sack will actually tie into that way you don't lose it like i did so if. You do get this jacket just leave that on and that way you can just kind of. Stuff it rights into it and just make sure you always put it back in the pockets hopefully i can find that again because it stuffs down to a really nice size it's only like this big which is. Super nice so one thing about this. Jacket though is because it's a lightweight down jacket and if you go. From pretty much anything like you're. Talking backpacking stuff anything robust is gonna be heavy so if you're. Trying to save weight usually that involves a shaving weight involves going. To thinner materials lighter stuff is. Always less strong than more robust. Stuff so it's just something to be aware of so i brought out another down jacket. I have which is my fjällräven down jacket and this is definitely a much. More robust jacket also notice the size difference like how i was talking about it's probably this jacket isn't really a good standalone piece for the winter it's mo we made for you know backpacking and. Like chilly nights whereas notice the. Size difference this is uh i use this as. Like a winter jacket you know much thicker much heavier but it's also more. Robust so i just want to show you the difference real quick. And i think a good representation of this is the zippers see if you can. Hopefully the camera can get this just the difference in size of the zippers and how much more robust that the fee aravind one is much thicker much heavier. Duty and even the actual zipper itself the teeth on the zipper are a. Lot thicker and there's its much. Smaller on the arc'teryx jacket which is a good thing if you're looking to save weight that's definitely a good thing this is gonna be a much lighter jacket was just something to be aware of that when you're zipping it you know it's probably not something that can take as much of abuse as the something. Bigger I'm not saying it's gonna fall. Apart immediately or anything i mean i went my whole thru-hike with this thing except for the on the summer months and it lasted great I'd never had any problems with it and that's why I'm doing a review on it cuz it's something i love never had a problem with it but if you are really hard on gear or you're. Looking for something that you know is. Gonna get beat up probably might not be. The best option but also at the same time i don't know arc'teryx makes really high quality stuff and I'm sure it'll I'm sure it'll last so a couple other features about the jacket are on the hood it's an adjustable hood so you can cinch it down around your head try and keep that warmth in and keep the draft out it's pretty important and on the sides it has two hand pockets nice big. Pockets big enough to get your whole hand in there and keep them warm as well as store some stuff in their obviously pretty standard stuff um so i mean a. Downside to the jacket is that because. It's down you have to keep it dry that's really important when i was on the 80 i used a pack cover and a pack. Liner just to make sure i was keeping all the water out but it's just something to be aware of if you're not a huge fan of down they do make very similar jackets i believe they're called the adams like the adam lt which is made. Of 100% coral oft so it will be a little bit heavier and but. I mean the positive to that is it'll stay warmer when wet but if you're. Looking for like absolute lightweight you really can't beat the warmth to weight ratio it down so something to be. Aware of this jackets coming in at about. 350 bucks 360 bucks something like that. So what is on the higher side but you. No i kind of believe that you do get what you pay for and arc'teryx makes really high quality stuff so you know. But higher and it's really comfortable if you're wearing it with a harness or if you're wearing a harness over top you've just got a zippered fly and a. Really convenient button there and you. Have a little bit of adjust ability there on the top you have really flat belt. Loops so that makes it really comfortable if you want to wear a belt with them you can but if you're wearing a harness those belt loops aren't gonna get in the way you have always open pockets in the front and there's actually a little coin catch in the back that's also a great. Spot for a climbing toothbrush and then. You have always open pockets in the back those pockets are big enough that they actually add a little bit of durability to the seat there so it makes the pants a little bit more durable and then you. Do have another pocket on the side here the pocket has a little button closure. So you can put things in there and keep them safe the fit and feel of these. Pants are spot-on to what i would from patagonia I'm wearing a size six. Right now, and they fit me really well that fit in the waist is tight enough that they feel like they're gonna stay where they are they're not gonna fall down at all but then you have a lot of. Space in through the leg in through the. Knee space to move, and then they do taper in a little bit towards the bottom so you don't have a lot of extra fabric down there towards your shoes they're.
