Versatile and warm built to repel wicked. Whether the outdoor research illuminator. Sensor gloves are a great option for climbers skiers snowboarders or anyone. Who needs good weather protection and warmth in those high alpine environments. Let’s take a look at all of their features first thing we want to take a look at with the gloves is the construction and what makes them a little more special, so we do have a nice. Durable ripstop nylon on the outside. It’s ninety percent nylon ten percent. Stretch elastic twill or laminated. Fabric so you’ve got really good durable materials that offer really good movement as well we do have a ben chia. Dry insert on the inside of the gloves so you get full waterproof and breathable protection with these gloves. We’ve got a nice goat leather palm with a touch screen compatible index finger. And thumb so you can easily use smartphone or tablet or other electronic. Devices with the index and thumb on each. Of the gloves so it’s a really nice additional feature there we do have a. Light crema loft insulation on the inside of the gloves so that’s a really good synthetic insulation that’s going to maintain its loft and its warmth even. If it gets a little damp from sweat or moisture of any kind so really good reliable warmth with the gloves and on. The inside we do have a 100% tricot. Lining so it’s a brushed tricot lining really nice comfort against the skin on. The inside of the glove so you’ve got really good warmth weather protection and all the good features you want in. These gloves some of the things we have. Going on the outside we’ve got some carabiner clips on the middle finger of either glove so you can easily attach those to a harness or a backpack if you choose to we do have a glove clip as well so you. Can clip the gloves together make sure they stay together and you don’t lose just a single glove which would be bad. You do have a nice elastic band around. The wrist of each glove to help keep it in place to get really good fit they’re. Really good comfort, and we do have a hook and loop tab that. Allows you to really dial in the fit on the exterior of the gloves on the inside. We do actually have a removable leash so. If i take one of these gloves off you can see that we have a leash attached to there that will just if you. Drop the glove if it falls off if you get into a crash when you’re skiing or snowboarding you won’t lose the glove if. You choose to not take the leash with you and leave it at home you can simply detach it and set it aside so it’s not a required item you do also have this pull. Loop here so you can really pull the glove on and get a nice tight fit whenever you’re putting the gloves on so really good features in the glove there. It does also have an undercut construction so it’s a little lower profile than some of those gauntlet style gloves it will allow you too easily. Layer your jacket sleeve over the top of. The glove and get a nice streamlined and seamless fit with the glove to the. Jacket so really nice additional bonus to the glove there these gloves do have a pre-curved. Construction so you’ve got a really nice fit there reduces the fatigue you don’t have to work as hard to grip items your ski poles your ice axes or whatever you. May be holding on to so that pre-curved construction adds a lot of dexterity to. The fit of the gloves and there you have. It’s the outdoor research illuminator sensor glove great option for those skiers those climbers those snowboarders. Anyone in those high alpine environment. Who needs warmth weather protection and durability.
This is the medium weight sensor glove. Bio our outdoor research it’s a fleece line glove so it adds a. Nice level of insulation just wearing it. On its own it also wicks moisture very well so it. Can move moisture up perspiration away. From your hand if you’re wearing and outside glove it is a touch screen. Compatible with these two pads right here you can operate your phone or your. Tablet and then it has these grip dots right here and then so you don’t lose them when you’re not using them you can just clip them together this is the mid. Weight sensor glove by outdoor research.

Waterproof but it can be worn on the boat just as an insulation glove and works especially well if you’re wearing an outer glove and you want to wear these as a glove liner but a nice thick warm glove liner it’s also touchscreen. The outdoor research women’s luminary sensor gloves are an extremely versatile. Glove designed for alpine climbing and. Skiing when you need a glove that’s. Going to really protect you from the elements and keep you nice and warm a glove that gives you a lot of dexterity. And something that’s also going to breathe really well so this is a. Three-in-one glove you do have the outer. Shell which gives you all of that weather protection and the warmth you need and then you have an inner liner that provides a little bit more comfort. And warmth you can take the liner out or you can wear the liner by itself so this. Does offer a lot of versatility with how. You wear the gloves the materials here. Are kind of the important thing to point out you’ve got a wind stopper shall so. These are going to be extremely protectant against that really harsh. Cold wind they are extremely weather and water. Resistant but they’re not completely waterproof which just means that you’re. Going to be able to breathe it’s not. Going to build up too much heat inside of there so if you’re perspiring at all. This wicking liner is going to move that. Moisture away from your hand and keep your hand nice and warm you do also have. Leather on the palm here and you do have. Some extra gripping here on the palm as well so whether you’re holding trekking. Poles or ski poles or anything else. You’re gonna have a really great grip here and these are also sensor gloves so. The index finger and your thumb actually. Our touch screen compatible so if you’re using a phone or a tablet or a gps. Anything that has a touchscreen you’re. Going to be able to still use it through these gloves and there’re technologies there in that leather that allow you to. Still use a touchscreen so you don’t have to take your glove off in order to. Use those devices the other features you. Get here are really great first of all. It is a hand shaped our finger shaped glove so it fits really nicely the first time you put it on it’s got nice curved lines so. You get all of that dexterity that you need to move your hands and to grab. Onto things as well on the inside here. You do have a leash so you can put that. On if you do need to take your gloves off let’s say on a ski lift or something like that they’re not going to fall there’s a really nice pull tab here as. Well so when you do put the glove on it is a pretty tight fit in glove it’s. Supposed to fit well on your hands so you can really pull that on and get a. Really nice snug fit the gauntlet here. Is it comes up pretty high on your wrist. So I’m wearing it over top of my jacket. Here it fits really well there but you can cinch that down to hold in the heat. You can also wear a jacket over top of it so it’s still pretty low profile that you could put a jacket over top and. Really cinch that down so you have that draw cord there which makes it really nice and just over all the materials. Here it’s really well sewn well put. Together it’s very abrasion resistant. Both in the leather here on the palm and. On the materials throughout if we go to. The liner really quickly you have a kind. Of a wool blend liner so that wool is. Gonna keep you nice and warm even if it. Becomes wet wool tends to hold its. Thermal efficiency better than some other materials so that’s really great. But it’s very soft it’s a very soft. Wool and again you can use this liner by. Itself or use it with the glove overall. With the features you get here you’ve got a very technical glove that’s going to keep you protected in those alpine environments they’re the outdoor research women’s luminary sensor gloves.
Lightweight streamlined and fairly warm. The outdoor research pl 100 sensors. Gloves are a great option as a liner for. Any glove or mitten or a standalone glove for high aerobic activities in cooler temperatures some of their. Features include a nice lightweight radiant fleece build so it’s a. Low-profile and streamlined glove throughout the entire glove here it’s. Got really nice radiant fleece technology so it’s very warm for the weight it’s gonna provide nice moisture wicking it’s gonna be quick drying and fairly warm again as i said for the. Weight that you get as the name suggests. It does have a sensor touch tip so on. The thumb and index finger of each hand. You’ve got a touch screen compatible. System so here you can see that it’s. Nice and easy to just scroll along with the phone it works a lot better than some of the other kind of traditional touch sensitive gloves that I’ve seen in. The past it’s very easy it’s almost effortless so a very simple design there. Again you’ve got a nice cuff here with. Some elasticity to provide a good stable. Hold and you’ve got a glove clip there. To give it you know clip them together so in the event that you accidentally. Drop them you’re not gonna lose just one glove there’s also some you know silicone grip. On the palm so if you’re using these for. Nordic skiing or running you know you. Can still grip your ski poles or if your trail runner you can grip your trekking poles or just any other item that you. May be holding you get some extra grip there so some nice features in play with. The pl 100 sensor gloves and there you. Have it lightweight and warm great as a. Liner option or standalone for higher aerobic activities it’s the outdoor. Research pl 100 sensor gloves. You.
Inspired by the design of a medieval gauntlet but modernized for the elite climber the outdoor research luminary. Sensor gloves are a great versatile. Three-in-one option that have a nice wind proof soft shell material a wool. Blend liner and superior breath ability. Let’s take a look at all the features on the gloves the materials in play on. The gloves are a nice soft shell outer. Fabric and a gore windstopper membrane. So that’s a fully wind proof membrane it. Is highly water resistant but is not totally waterproof but wind proof so. We’ve got wind proof materials nice versatile and stretchy soft shell outer. Material so you’ve got really good movement with the gloves on the palm we. Do have a nice reinforced leather it’s got really nice grip there and some durable overlay to enhance that fit and. Increase the life of the gloves as the. Name suggests these are a sensor gloves. So they do have touch screen compatible thumb and index fingers so it’s still. Durable it remains really nice and. Sturdy so they’ve got those leather overlay there but it is touchscreen compatible so it’s a really convenient system and it works really well with smart phone devices tablets and anything. That you need to touch to use so a nice. Feature there you can use that without taking the gloves off some of the other. Features include a removable wool blend. Liner so I’m gonna pull off the shell glove here to expose that liner got a really nice kind of low profile wall. Liner here so it can be worn by itself if you’re doing a high aerobic activity. Where you need a little bit more breath ability but really nice simple. Design here it’s very breathable it wicks moisture very well and provides a. Really good amount of insulation for the shell glove now you can wear the shell. Glove by itself too there is a nice lightweight liner in there so you’ve. Essentially got three options with the gloves the liner by itself the shell by. Itself or the system together as a pair. So you’ve got a really good wide array. Versatility with the luminary sensor. Gloves here some other things to mention are a nice gauntlet closure, so we’ve got a super cinch closure single pull to. Tighten it down which is really convenient and easy you can do it one-handed so you don’t have to take a glove off or fuss with two hands and to. Loosen it you just grab that pull tab. There and it loosens up nice and easily so easy one-handed adjustment on the. Gauntlet of the glove we do have a removable leash or cord here so you can. Wrap that around your wrist if you choose to you can get rid of it if you. Don’t want to use it but very simple system there it’ll help you from losing. The gloves if they do fall off or if you take them off we do have a nice carabiner clip on the middle finger of the glove there so you can clip it to a harness or to a you know a backpack if. You choose to do that so you don’t lose the gloves again if you were to take them all down around the wrist we’ve got. A nice pull tab so when you’re putting the gloves on and you need to get that extra a nice tug you’ve got a really. Good pull tab there to really kind of yank on the gloves and make sure you’ve got a nice snug fit so a nice system. There and another thing to mention on the liner gloves we’ve got nice velcro on the front and back so it helps keep. It in place when it’s in the glove so it doesn’t slide around on you prevent an awkward or uncomfortable fit so that velcro is a really nice addition to keep everything in place the fit of these. Gloves is very nice they’re fairly snug they do have a pre curved fit so again dexterity and movement is the key in. These gloves we’ve got a really nice system in play that allows for a lot of movement you can grip things easily you. Can climb easily ice tools mountaineering tools trekking poles. Whatever you may need to use while wearing the gloves you can do so easily with kind of the low profile fit with. The soft shell movement there you’ve got a really nice system in play again wind proof materials very breathable very. Much movement in this glove it’s the. Outdoor research luminary sensor glove.

Hey everyone its ivan hippodrome here to. Bring you another gear review and today we’re talking about gloves these guys right here these are the outdoor research backstop gloves about four. Years ago while under ployment overseas it’s trying to figure out some sort of gloves to eat my hands warm and there’s. No magical glove that’s going to keep your hands warm aside from like giant expedition mitts and it’s a non-starter because it’s need. To be operated weapon these definitely. Not the glove i want to be shooting pistol you can totally manipulate a rifle with them which works but it’s kind of that happy medium like yeah i could use a pistol if i need to with them could definitely use a rifle and do. A pretty good job keeping my hands warm especially when the winds blowing these. Backstop gloves are made of two different materials as you can see by the inside this brown material is there. Radiant fleece does a really good job of keeping you warm and then this black material is actually gore windstopper. Material so across the whole back side. Ie backstop you have this wind stopper. Material and on the inside you have the radiant fleece this is the older model. And as you can see these first two fingers thumb and across the palm you. Have this silicon material does a really. Good job of kind of creating that tacky feeling to grab a hold of things especially glass something that would otherwise slip if you’re trying to grab it with this pretty smooth fleece the. Newer which they sell now which is the. Sensor backstop as a sensor material little pad right here on your index. Finger as well as on your thumb for using any capacities screens like your. Smartphones stuff along those lines and then the new one also has a little bit. Of silicone up here on your three fingers rather than just these first two. One thing as far as a keeley’s heel. Right here there’s this little clip so. You can clip both of your gloves together keep them there and this is just like a little piece of leather you can see stretching out what invariably happens. Are you grab one of your gloves in your pack and you’re like oh perfect they’re connected start pulling it gets caught in this little piece of leather rips and. Then it’s worthless a nice workaround i. Would love to see is either 550 cord. Loop or even just this zone right here to where you have almost like a buttonhole that you could just punch a carabiner through and clip them together that way the newer ones also with your. Sensor backstop right across here you. Have a little bit of elastic help keep the cuffs closed and not let any wind. Through the cuff since i purchased these. Gloves they’ve done a great job for me even if you get your hands wet ideally. Just splash with water as opposed to submerged they’re still gonna keep that. Chill off your hands more than if you didn’t have any gloves they still do a fairly good job insulating even if they get damp and as. I mentioned dexterity wise you can still. Do a number of tasks like whether it’s manipulate zippers buckles on equipment. Or manipulating your rifle anything like that do a good job, and they’re keeping. Your hands not necessarily warm because. That’s starting with the core like keep your core warm and then your hands will probably stay warm but what they do with the wind stopper material is keep. That heat from getting ripped off your hands and that’s important another use i. Found for them living up in idaho up in. The panhandle is running in the winter. Running along trail it’s cold that wind. Keeps it from biting into your hands makes it much more enjoyable or even. Cruising around on a bike your hands they’re not moving and keeping the wind. From just biting straight into them they do a good job with that best place to pick these guys up is amazon you can. Find them depending on size-wise they’re black as well as kind of coyote tan and range anywhere from about 27 bucks. To about 39 bucks but good pair of. Gloves for kind of all-around just. Keeping your hands insulated especially in any type of windy conditions as always thanks for joining us to keep our calm look forward to seeing you next.

The La Sportiva Men’s Nepal Cube GTX Mountaineering Boot isn’t just for the high-minded alpine adventurers amongst us. New this season, the Nepal Cube takes a lighter approach to versatile warmth in a mountaineering boot than its older sibling, the Nepal Evo GTX. While both boots use Gore-Tex to guarantee your foot’s dry ride, the Cube loses a full four ounces without taking away any warmth or capability. Whether you’re summiting the Grand (Teton, that is), performing telecom magic in the middle of winter, or trekking high and low over many miles, this leather boot gives you a dry and flexible ride.
Rugged Idro-Perwanger leather gets shot full of 3.2mm silicone to create a robustly water-resistant and flexible outer. An air-injected rubber rand creates a durable connection between the top and bottom of this technical boot. Laces tease your toes and weave their way up the boot through locking D rings to help the boot keep a firm grip on your foot. The Gore-Tex Insulated Comfort lining does more than guarantee waterproof and breathable kicking; it adds heat to your hoofers so hiking across snow-covered flats doesn’t turn your toes into stubby icicles. In addition, the 4mm Carbon Tech honeycomb footbed uses air to further insulate your foot without adding weight to keep you high-stepping for hours on end.
Not a gossip, this tongue lets fresh air kiss your ankles while giving you the option to customize the boot fit with a removable piece. The 3D Flex tech improves your stability over contorted terrain. The graded polyurethane midsole starts at a whopping 2mm thick in the heel and tapers into a whisper of plastic by the time it reaches your toes. The Impact Brake System turns hard-wearing Vibram into directionally opposed lugs to give your footsteps traction on the way up and the way down.
It might look like your average day pack, but the Men’s Deuter Futura 30L Backpack has a few tricks up its sleeve. The ergonomic and ventilated design of the padded shoulder straps
and waist belt keep you comfortable on longer treks, and they’re
designed for minimal chafing—so if you’re thinking of bagging a peak and doing an overnighter in one trip, you most certainly can. Slip a divider into the main compartment, creating a spot to store your sleeping bag, then stuff your extra layers above that, and your cooking and meal supplies into the top. Compression straps on the sides can be used to store your tent, but if you’re the sleeping-under-the-sky sorta adventurer, you can travel even lighter. Plenty of exterior pockets are available for snacks, map, or phone, and the integrated rain cover protects your gear from unexpected showers.
So this is my future backpack made by. Buddha and it’s a thirty liter day pack that I’ll be using on the camino it’s. Got a lot of features that i really like it’s a solid frame but it’s pretty light weighs three and a half pounds this section here is holds it rights quite a. Ways away from your body so you get a lot of air flow in there and you don’t get too hot i like that space in there it’s about three inches i guess the. Straps are quite nicely padded in here all the way down and in the back and. Also along the waist belt and it’s a. Women’s specific design so this whole section in here is quite a bit shorter than it would be on regular size it’s. Got adjustable straps in the very top. And around the hip that you can keep it. Pretty snug as well as the straps themselves tighten up and of course it’s got the chest strap as well and it slides up and down so you can make it pretty comfortable so let’s see flip it. Over and on each side has a pouch that. You can put anything you want in it’ll fit a one liter water bottle though and these side straps they tighten up or. They can be loose whichever you like there’s a side pocket on both sides. That’s kind of expands when you put stuff inside it and each side of it has. One of those on the bottom the section. Divides in half right here and inside you can actually have it a kind of. Panel that you can have and separate the top from the bottom or you can do like i have right now and i have it open lots of hooks on the bottom for hanging things on as well i put some clothes and things in here so you can sort of see but that section there is where it fits. In and then of course you can undo the. Top so right over here is a pocket. That’s really well accessible when you’re actually walking use put your hands over your back and grab it so i put things i need during the hike inside sort of more of a safety thing i guess. You can keep things inside this pouch here and then it’s pretty easy to pull. Things out I’ll just open it up and stay so you can see inside I’ll pull out my towel there’s a little strap in there with a little bit of velcro that you can hook things on and. Then again this will be oh yeah i. Forgot there’s a little pouch in here and you can put the water bladder in if. You’re carrying water and there’s a little hole right on the side that you can leave the little bit of a pipe. Through or whatever i usually just have it coming through the top though it’s just pretty easy to do that there’s a. Pouch here just for putting things in that you want to keep maybe maps and stuff things that you want accessible and quick and it’s got lots of straps on. The outside that’s for keeping your poles hiking poles and let’s see what. Else it’s overall it’s really. Comfortable i quite like it and I’ve. Been wearing it a lot and using it a lot lately so that i can get used to it oh. Yeah on the bottom it’s got an opening. That you can pull out the rain cover and. Just get it out here and it’s got a bit of elastic around it covers up the entire pack really quickly and easily and it’s waterproof so it gives you that. Little bit of extra protection so deuter. Pack i really like it and I’m hoping that it’ll just be perfect for our trip.

Lines the back of this glove the outside is a really smooth brushed material so. It’s gonna slide easily into another glove if you need to and it keeps a pretty sleek and athletic profile, so they’re very simple minimalist gloves something that’s a little different compared to standard liner gloves these. Hi I’m christian athlete manager for. Outdoor research and these are the mute sensor gloves new 4 2015 the mew clubs. Are warm and waterproof making them. Perfect for back country or lift serve ski the waterproof breathable venture. Insert protects your hands from wet weather or melting snow also the inderal. Off synthetic insulation provides warmth for lift rides or at the top of your. Transition i think my favorite feature is a sensor technology this allows for. Gloves on use of phones and other touchscreen electronics the foam panels. On the back of hand provided little added insulation as well as some impact. Protection on a bushwhack out of an early back country ski the new gloves are. Quickly becoming my favorite descents kegel they’re warm and waterproof delivered in a stylish and high performance package.

That really good breath ability while offering some nice comfortable warmth as well so you’ve got a really good combination of materials here that are. Gonna give ample protection but breath ability and comfort as well some. Other features we have in the gloves are some silicone grip here on the palm and. The fingers and as the name suggests it. No efficient and works really easily with touch screen items so again. These were designed to be those gloves for trail running for snowshoeing nordic. This is with the touch oh cancel i mean. Very fine my stuff see it’s working. Wow that’s all the movies they have on. The first one huh tv store. Well as you can see it works and it. Works just as well i can almost type as well with these on. As i can without them on almost i make. A few more mistakes I’ll be honest but that’s just because I’m not used to the size my finger isn’t usually this big. But i don’t know why i went to camera. It’s not real touchscreen stuff on the. Camera but they are great they fit. Really well they got this nice silicone on here they actually stick out quite a. But so it does give you a really good grip you see that so it’s like you’re. That they are really good the. Wool feels nice and warm again it’s not. Near cold enough where I’d need these. But they fit really well has that nice leather accent there and the little pull string that all the or gloves seem to. Have nowadays nice and signia they’re. Grippy stuff creepy stuff grippy stuff. Everywhere she does all that in and out. Works really well so if you’re looking. For something to use your cell phone and. Still keep your hands warm down to around 25 degrees then these could be. The gloves for you and I’m really. Curious to see how they hold up over time have a great one.

I’m wearing the outdoor research men’s sensor gloves these are a very. Lightweight warm and breathable fleece. Glove that would be great in milder days like today or as a glove liner for more. Extreme conditions the gloves are built. With outdoor research radiant fleece. It’s a 100 weight fleece material and it. Lines the back of this glove the outside is a really smooth brushed material so. It’s gonna slide easily into another glove if you need to and it keeps a pretty sleek and athletic profile, so they’re very simple minimalist gloves something that’s a little different compared to standard liner gloves these. Actually have a water-resistant leather palm so it’s a little bit more durable. You’re gonna get a little bit more grip and a little bit more durability or a protection out of that leather palm and. Conveniently these gloves are touch screen compatible, so they have outdoor. Research sensor technology so you can use your smartphone or your device without taking these gloves off so it. Definitely adds convenience to the glove today it’s about 43 degrees and these. Gloves are keeping me nice and toasty warm they’re great for these kinds of. Temperatures those milder days when you just need a little bit of protection on the hands and again like i said you could certainly use this as a liner if you needed to for extreme conditions. It does have a glove clip so you can. Easily clip the gloves together so you don’t lose just one and it has a convenient sleek under cuff construction so it rests really easily under a jacket. And layers really well overall it’s a. Very simple glove it’s got that 100. Weight radiant fleece smooth exterior. And touch screen compatibility there the outdoor research men’s sensor gloves.
Designed for high-energy activities to act as your liner the outdoor research. Backstop sensor gloves are a great. Option for those colder weather pursuits where you need good breath ability but proper wind protection as well let’s take a look at some of their features so. This glove is constructed with a combination of gore windstopper fabric. And outdoor researches radiant fleece so. The back of the hand is going to have that wind stopper layer and it’s a highly breathable completely windproof liner and it’s highly watered resistant as well so that’s gonna line the back of. The hand where you’re gonna find that most of that wind is going to try to penetrate the materials but it’s gonna offer that really good protection and the palm of the glove is designed with the radiant fleece so that’s giving it. Is a touch screen it’s you know. Compatible gloves so the thumb and the index finger on each glove are you know. Usable with touch screen device so. Really works well it’s surprisingly you. No efficient and works really easily with touch screen items so again. These were designed to be those gloves for trail running for snowshoeing nordic. Skiing any activity where it’s going to be highly aerobic and you’re going to be generating some good body heat but the backs of your hands are going to be subject to the wind and you want that extra protection so it’s going to give that protection right where you need it and that’s what we’ve got there the outdoor research men’s backstop sensor. Gloves. You.
All right i am going to do a quick review in the uhd of the new outdoor. Research flurry sensor gloves they go 40. Bucks these are the excels they’re good for 25. To 40 degrees or negative 4 to 4 degrees. Celsius leave that sound set not used to. The Celsius stuff but these are the. Flurry gloves which are very highly rated on amazon and assorted other sites. But they have the sensors so you can use. Then with your phone and tablets and such while you’re out camping or I’m. Gonna use these for work mainly because i work nights and it’s getting towards. Winter time and i do have to use my phone a lot to write down times and such. And so on texted people you know what’s. Going on anyhow their alpine wool plus fabric. Tissue alpine wool breathable that’s good. Wicking moisture wicking silicone grip. Palm and they do fit pretty snug they’re. Not tight but they’re really good. So far I’ve just tried him out a little bit on the way home i got him over at rei i mean sorry no it was feathered. Friends here in seattle i didn’t notice them at rei you’re kind. Of overwhelmed at their flagship store so anyhow let’s get down to business it. Has the touch stuff right here and right. Here on your thumb so let’s try it out. Works I’m recording this on my phone or. Else I’d show you more I’m not pushing. Hard I’m just doing like i would normally do with you know just by. Fingers xbox games this is a very this. Is the first surface so but as you can. Now that’s in there they don’t have much for the. First surface nowadays this is the cheapest version so let’s see i haven’t. Used this in a while actually so there. We go they could do videos tv shows I’m. Trying to do this too oh wait sorry using this finger that is. Not the test one so that’s it no touch.

Fully wearable on its own, the liner is also touch-screen compatible, so you can send a text or share a photo without needing to expose your skin to the cold. Whether worn together or separate, the Meron’s dual components excel on their own, but when coupled together, few gloves come close.

Hi it’s peter again I’m here to talk. About a variety of different mountaineering boots that we use in the field I’ll start over here on my right with the uninsulated single boot kind of. Rock climbing summer mountaineering oriented we’re going to see this boot on the matterhorn and the eiger in europe. And on the 13-day course and the cascades moving up in insulation is. Another single boot but this one is. Insulated we use this on all over the. Cascades and on mount rainier in mid summer and you’ll also see this on mont. Blanc in europe next step up in. Installation is our double plastic boot even more insulated with the removable. Liner you’re going to see this on mount. Rainier and in the cascades for the bulk of the season early and late especially when it’s colder you’re going to see this on mexican volcanoes and Ecuador this type of boot is very versatile one. More step up in installation is a high-altitude double boot here a little bit more streamlined lighter weight package and a even further warmer liner. Compared to this for higher altitude. Expeditions this is going to be really appropriate for Aconcagua and especially Denali trips finally on my left is the. 8,000 meter boot you’re going to see. This in antarctica on mount everest any. Other 8,000 meter peak and a lot of people are starting to use boots like this on Denali expeditions as well for. Extra warmth.
Hi guys so when you think of buying a. Winter be when you’re wondering which one to get now the reason why I’m gonna use this as. My primary booth for ice and mix. Climbing this winter is because it’s got. An external gator which is going to keep your feet really dry and also really. Warm too and also there’s no lace there’s no like metal laces on the front of here so when. I’m climbing i you know it’s completely. Sealed if i put my foot in a crack or. Something like that this is some all one unit which is it’s really gonna help out. Actually it’s better to not have laces or a lace hook should i say on the front of the toe if you’re really thinking about going climbing the other thing with these is because they’re made out dry yeah out dry membrane they don’t. Absorb any water at all so if you’re. Using them for multiple days they don’t. Get wet you know you like you can dry them off really fast whereas like a more traditional door membrane it’s gonna take longer to dry them off if they do get saturated because there’s like a space in between the membrane and. The actual outer bit so if you want one boot that does. Everything this is a really good option you can use it down to like — 15. — 20 degrees centigrade so if you’re going to canada it’s gonna be that or you can take to the out and take the Scotland you can have really warm feet and it’s its state the art 2016. Technology like these boots were designed with ely stack, and they’re just absolutely amazing.
Your heavily insulated, waterproof gloves may be nice for the ski down, but they’re going to cook your hands on the up track. Slip your hands in the La Sportiva Syborg Gloves when you need something light and breathable on the skin up. Their stretch polyester fleece fabric is insulating and breathable, while their reinforced leather palm ensures a stout grip on your poles and ensure that they withstand some abuse.
Great for ice climbing and base camp, the Mountain Equipment Super Alpine Glove uses a Ponterto soft shell fabric to block wind, resist moisture, and increase breathability. The Pittards leather palm offers superior grip whether it’s wet or dry, and the pre-curved design provides excellent dexterity for making adjustments to gear or placing ice screws. The removable microfleece liner dries quickly when you get back to your tent, and wicks moisture while you’re wearing it. The low-profile cuff cuts down on bulk for a streamlined fit with your jacket.
Hi this is brown of pro-leg gear and. Today we are we talking about the mountain equipment rondon a glove this is a new one from mountain equipment beautiful design on these as well now there’s a shoulder dry skin extreme on the back of. The hand on the palm this is petard. Armor tan leather they make several. Different grades of the petard it’s still goat skin still very soft very supple yet very durable and water-resistant by grain of the leather this is just a little bit tougher and stronger than there aren’t than their oil tack whether they use on the really grippy climbing gloves it shares the. Three part thumb with the super alpine. Glove it’s got the snot wipe on the. Bottom of the thumb so you can kind of you know suck back some snot when you’re on the lift or when you’re touring somewhere sure low dry skin extreme there and then the leather going across the front of the thumb so it’s still very dexterous on the inside of the glove there’s this wonderful pile lining it’s almost like sticking your hand in a rabbit glove like rabbit lion glove it’s just a super soft feeling teflon. Reinforced new-school hook and loop velcro cuff incredibly warm incredibly. Comfortable these would be for me good. Down to zero degrees touring as long as I’m moving quickly my hands will stay incredibly warm in these rolled fingers throughout for added dexterity because they are a little bit thicker of a glove wonderful design by mountain equipment. Hi this is brad with proline gear and. Today we’re gonna be talking about the guide glove for mountain equipment this is a very nicely designed glove and at 50 dollars you really can’t beat this glove it is. Completely waterproof using mountain. Equipment dry light membrane it’s highly waterproof highly breathable with. A micro pile lining insert kind of that kind of rabbit kind of rabbit fur style. Feeling on the inside very warm, and they bond it inside there so when you pull your hand out the lining doesn’t move around your hands so when other gloves are a soggy mess and are difficult to get off these will slide on and off with ease many times the grey portion here is a nice nylon material and the back is a stretch panel so the glove will move and articulate very nicely this is a cowhide. Leather palm not the tarts this is gonna be very durable for the guy so I’m doing a lot of belays just a very tough leather glove rolled fingers for added dexterity and then give you a little extra leather on the tips of the fingers which decrease dexterity a little bit but increased durability if you’re having to grab rocks or anything like that while you’re climbing or using ski poles snot wipe on the bottom of the. Glove nylon on the top part of the thumb and three-part thumb that shares design. With all their other gloves fantastically well-designed well-thought-out pre articulated fingers for. Belay so you can hold on a little bit better or hold on to rock or your tools they fit true to size I’m a xl and. These xl fit my hand perfectly if you. Right here looking at these petard soiltac palm there’s a little bit of texture to it as well as just the adjust. The goatskin there it’s incredibly dexterous due to the three part thumb. Design right here so kind of it’s a they called snap wipe right here as well. A little bit softer and the thumb is built in three places so it has this roll tip finger so when you go to grab a carabiner you can actually feel the nose. Feel the gate feel the screw part in your fingers incredibly dexterous a little bit of durability here in case the rope goes over your hand just for long repels blaze things like that mountain equipment does something that I’ve never seen another company do they take a lot of time and attention building their stuff instead of having a tie safe mountain equipment in one piece. They actually a separate mountain and equipment on the left and right gloves i just thought that was kind of interesting wind stopper across the back. And the apri there with a really nice new-school hook and loop velcro cuff. They’re incredibly tight-fitting they’ll be dexterous these would be great for ice climbing anything alpine use maybe even cold touring days if you have any questions please feel free to call. Marmot designed the Ultimate Ski Glove for the most epic of ski days, from days where the falling snow blocks all visibility to freezing cold bluebird days. Your hands will stay comfortable all day with a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex insert keeping them dry, and Primaloft Gold insulation keeping them warm, even if you manage to get snow past the drawcord cuff. Constructed to stand up to professional-level use, the face fabric is reinforced with cowhide leather in the most vulnerable areas. Marmot included a DriClime lining to wick sweat away from your palms while you give yourself a pep talk at the top of that 50-degree couloir.
Well it’s February the 3rd and the ground has been dry for over a month. Probably like six weeks and if you like. Outdoor activities like cell billing and. Stuff like that it really sucks it’s. Been a pretty horrible winter for southern Ontario but i always like to look on the bright side of things and the one good thing about it is that there’s been a lot of good sales on their clothing in toronto recently so i. Decided to pick up a couple pair of. Gloves that I’ve had my eye on the last couple years but i haven’t been able to decide which one to choose well since. They both came on sale i thought why not get both and run a little comparison. Video so this is going to be my initial. Impressions or first impressions of the marmot ultimate ski glove versus the. Black diamond guide glove and maybe in a. Couple years after i use them for a while i have an update video to see which one actually works better maybe I’ll even try wearing one on one hand and one on the other at the same time to. See which i like better but yeah so this. Is gonna be a initial comparison video just to kind of give you guys an idea so. In terms of what comes with the gloves they basically come with the same thing except the black diamond guide gloves. Come with nick wax weatherproofing for. Leather so that’s a little bit of an bonus you know it’s definitely important to add this nick’s nick wax. Leather weather proofing just to make your leather that much extra waterproof. Now if it doesn’t come with it like these marmot gloves did not you can of course buy it separately this was ten. Bucks from mountain equipment co-op or your local outdoor store otherwise these. Gloves are pretty identical as you can. See one big difference that you can see. Right off the bat is that the marmot. Gloves come with what’s called gore-tex. Active and the black diamond guy gloves. Come with gore-tex warm. Just a quick google search these two. Types of technology are very similar but. It’s quite apparent that the warm. Technology is just like the name implies you know better for very warm conditions. The gore-tex active is also good for. Cold weather conditions but again the. Warm designation implies and shows that. It’s ideal for very cool temperatures. Let’s check out how the gloves compare against each other in terms of weeks so. For the marmot ultimate ski glove both extra-large gloves are coming in at it. 257 grams that’s pretty close if not. Exactly what their claimed weight is claims weight of 8.8 ounces 258 grams. Equals 9.1 ounces so that’s pretty much. Spot-on again to account for the. Extra-large size compared to the large. Size that they have on the website so let’s see what the black diamonds weigh now black diamonds are quite a bit more they weigh in at 365 grams so over 100. Grams more and for those who want to see. It an imperial. Twelve point eight ounces so if weight. Is a huge concern the black diamond. Patrol gloves are sorry the black diamond guide gloves are significantly heavier perhaps the biggest difference. And one that might not be obvious at. First glance is that the black diamond gloves come with a removable insert so. This insert here is removable whereas. The marmot you cannot remove that insert. So I’m not really sure how that’s going. To affect things over time it might be nice to be able to remove the insert to wash it i guess but yeah that is the one. Major difference in terms of sizing. You’re supposed to measure your hand. Like such here my hand size is 9 inches. So i ordered an extra large based on. That measurements for from both manufacturers and it’s clear that the. Black diamond glove does fit tighter than the marmot so the extra large black. Diamond is nice and snug on me i. Wouldn’t want it much snugger than that. So the extra large is pretty much the. Perfect size whereas the marmot the. Extra large gives me a bit more room. Inside the glove i could probably squeeze in a riding glove or another. Shell of a glove inside for very cold. Conditions. Now the marmot gloves have these ripples. In the knuckles that is supposed to add a little bit of dexterity you can as well. See that a few other small differences the black diamond guide glove has. Leather surrounding the entire thumb whereas the back of the thumb on the marmot glove is cloth. Similarly, in between the fingers and the. Black diamond glove is nylon cloth whereas on the marmot it’s leather so. It’ll be interesting to see which wears out first based on the type of. Conditions i use these gloves for i quite often find myself yanking on. Things pulling on rope helping people. Get out of stuck situations on their. Snow belt pulling on winch cable so you. No I’ve often seen my snow moves tear. Around the palms and in the finger between the fingers where i could grab onto things, so we’ll see which one stand. The test of time both gloves have adjustable draw cord cuffs that are both. Easy to use with your gloved hand it’s. Just a matter of pulling the one chord. To cinch them up and I’m pulling the. Other end of the cord to loosen them back up again same with the marmots. Slightly different style but just as. Good one cord cinch this them up the red. Cord releases it so my only hope now is. To actually get enough snow to put these gloves to use I’m not holding my breath. That’s for sure and doesn’t look like jasper’s either but i guess as soon as. The snow goes away at least we know atving in dirt biking again and for those cold early spring rides your atv. In the dirt biking i expect these gloves will work well for that as well I’ll keep you posted an update video will follow in a couple years.
Merging a work-oriented glove with a ski. Specific glove marmot has created the. Basic ski glove with a durable. Construction and premium materials this. Is a great glove to take you right from chopping wood to the slopes let’s take a. Look at its features these gloves are. Constructed with fully leather materials. On the exterior so from the palm all the. Way until the back of the hand you’ve got just consistent leather so there’s. No synthetic materials that are gonna break down it’s just a nice durable and. Comfortable leather material it is water-resistant but it is not fully waterproof so keep that in mind when picking up these gloves we do also have. A glove clip on the exterior which is. Going to allow you to clip the gloves together so you can make sure that you hang onto both of them at all times you’ve also got a nice cinched cuff. There that’s gonna keep the fit nice on the bottom of the gloves there’s no velcro attachment or any you know adjustment like that but there is. That nice cinch around the cuff for comfort on the inside we do have a. Thermal or insulation so that will help keep your hands warm it is a synthetic insulation so even if it does get a little wet it’ll still maintain its thermal properties, and we do have a 3d. Dry clime wicking liner so that liner. Kind of lines the inside of the gloves and provides really good wicking power if your hands get a little warm or a little sweaty you’re working up somebody heat so nice materials inside the. Glove as well as that durable leather on the outside they’ve also got out finished seams so you get a really comfortable fit there’s no weird. Abrasions from the seams on the inside all the seams are finished on the outside so really unparalleled comfort. On the inside of the glove so there you. Have it highly water-resistant but not fully waterproof the marmot basic ski. Glove is an excellent glove to go from work to play.
From Himalayan treks to hauling a heavy pack across remote mountain ranges where trails are far and few between, the Scarpa Men’s Grand Dru GTX Mountaineering Boot was designed and built for rugged mountain terrain, primitive trails, and packing heavy backpacks. When you encounter mud, frequent creek crossings, and wet brush, the Grand Dru’s waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane ensures that your feet stay dry and you don’t have to dry out soggy socks after you set up camp after a day on the trail. Adding to the overall durability of the boot, Scarpa built the Grand Dru with an Italian-crafted Perwanger suede upper that’s reinforced by a burly rubber rand for added protection. A stiff midsole puts an emphasis on stability while navigating rock-strewn trails and talus slopes, and it’s compatible with hybrid (semi-automatic) crampons when you need some extra bite to reach your objective.
If you’re an early riser who likes to beat the crowds to the coolest areas, The North Face Patrol Glove is a friend to you. A 2-layer stretch nylon shell covers the HyVent waterproof insert for excellent protection from wetness, day in and day out. When you’re churning out heat on multi-day backcountry excursions, FlashDry lining helps to minimize sweating and, when you do sweat, serves to wick that moisture away from your hands before it has a chance to make you cold. The palm is made of water-resistant leather, so it’ll hold up to the rigors of everyday use without wearing out prematurely. For long days in the cold, 200-gram Primaloft Gold insulation on the back of the hand.
So we’ve got a whole new fit system here. At the north face called five dimensional fit, and we’ve borrowed what we’ve learned from footwear which is you’ve got to measure the interior volume of the glove and go outward from there when you’re adjusting for size, but we’ve got a whole new system for grading. Size on gloves it’s called five dimensional fits and it ensures that if. You’re a large in a technical mountaineering glove like this you’ll be a large in a stretchy fleece glove for. An entirely different end use, so we’ve also employed some pretty sophisticated new construction solutions one of them. Which is called radiometric articulation. Basically that mouthful means that we’ve. Cut the glove in such a way that you end. Up with that a nice natural curve built. Into the glove so that your hand isn’t fighting a flat glove to relax we’ve. Built our gloves with a warm warmer the warmest sensibility and you’ll see actually on the hang tags at retail. You’ll see snowflakes and now one snowflake is warm two snowflakes is warmer and three snowflakes is warmest as it needs to convey the message that out you know in the case of the kelvin here we’ve built it to be the warmest possible globe that we can build with 8 ounces of frame loft on the back of hand. And 4 ounces of primo loft on the front of hand this is as warm as we can build a mountaineering glove and still maintain the kind of dexterity that this users gonna need.
