I’m Beth! I’m a member of the Outdoor Research Ambassador team. This is the long-sleeve version of the new echo collection. The echo collection is awesome for any high exertion activity from long approaches in the mountains to runs to backpacking.
The air vent fabric is really nice and lightweight, and durable. But it also is awesome for wicking so it takes all the moisture from your skin and moves it to the surface of the fabric and evaporates really quickly. It’s also treated with poly gene which really helps reduce odors so I’m always. Welcome back in the tent at night.
Another awesome feature is it has this stow pocket. I usually just stash a gel or my car keys in if I’m out for a run. Echo piece is my go-the shirt from being a base layer on a long climb to all I need if I’m out on a run, it’s just awesome.
Everyone’s ivan kept africom here to bring you another gear view and today tagging about these shirts this one as. Well as the one I’m wearing which are the sodo shirts by outdoor research i. Had the good fortune of experiencing my first middle-eastern summer back in 2010. When i first started contracting 120. Plus degrees in the day i was like you know what this cotton t-shirt it’s not cut in it i wanted to get the sun off of my skin so i ended up picking up this. Shirt did really good for me so good in. Fact thinking ahead picked up a second one spring of 2011 been wearing them. Both since these shirts are made out of. This 100% nylon which is incredibly light durable soft to the touch and really fast drawing on top of all of it. It’s also upf rating of 50 keeping that. Sun off you one of my favorite features is these buttons the way they’re put on. Here is essentially a quarter inch piece of webbing and so the button is captured in the webbing stitched on. Either side on the way down and then bar tacked on the top and bottom of the button to keep it from moving up and down pretty much making it impossible to. Lose a button as you’re wearing it on the right-hand side you have a pocket that’s assessed with this vertical zipper inside the pocket you also have a. Little stash pocket sewn in as well back. Side of the pocket is mesh over on the. Left-hand side you have a pretty conventional pocket access from the top. Then back on the collar you have this. Handy little loop allowing you to go ahead and hang this shirt up wherever let it air out let it dry another great. Feature on these shirts is over here on. Both sides you have these air vents you have air being able to come in from the front and from the back and then inside so you can just reach into your shirt there’s actually a mesh panel really great allowing air to flow through here if you happen to be blessed or the breeze on a really hot day all. Right the bad news these are not made anymore. About outdoor research no more soto shirts you’re like why are you wasting my time bare with me they have a new shirt similar functionality couple upgrades. Couple downgrades design-wise really. Similar same pocket layout same great vince on the sides same upf 50 rating. Awesome as far as downgrades though got away from these bomb-proof buttons more or less conventional buttons now but then. The part i can’t stand on either sleeve you have a button here corresponding to. This piece of fabric that’s gonna hang inside of your shirt sleeve and just bother you every day reason being its. Made for that person that goes out and is like you know what i should have worn short sleeves today, and they can’t be. Bothered or don’t know how to just roll their shirt sleeve up they need to roll. It up and then bring this piece of fabric out secure it on the button so. God forbid their shirt sleeve doesn’t unroll on them that is stupid as hell. And i wish the industry would get away from it but on the upside new shirts are. Made out of 94% nylon and 6% spandex. Which is going to give you stretch for any type of dynamic movement a quick. Note on the way these pockets are setup and the way I’ve used that i don’t wear. This even though I’ve worn it a lot of overseas i don’t wear it under my plate carry a reason being you have something like that over it this vertical zipper right here almost at center line the plate pushes. Down really uncomfortable to wear under. A plate carrier what i will do sometimes is going out in town trying to keep a lower profile not be super overt stop my. Plate carrier on and stuff like that but I’ll take this put it on over everything. And bring it to where it’s basically sitting over my gear don’t button it so. I can access everything if i need to but at a glance it doesn’t look like I’m. Rolling as heavy as i actually am really. Like these shirts they’ve done a great job for me over the years honestly i really like that they have a straight hem too not made for tucking in and never tuck them in good for traveling they don’t wrinkle up and stay wrinkled. Really nice light durable unfortunately. They don’t make them anymore hopefully they will if you need a good sun shirt though they do make their baja long-sleeve sun shirt as i had described couple upgrades couple downgrades the best place to find them is on amazon about 65 bucks to maybe 85. Depending on size color or. Straight-through outdoor research full retails about 85 as always thanks for. Joining us to keep a calm look forward to seeing.
