Where to Put the Trash in the Woods: Useful Tips and Tricks

The question of where to dispose of trash in the woods after a picnic is relevant today. It is not necessary to take it with you, the problem can be solved on the spot with the help of improvised means.

Trash after outdoor activities

Going on a hike, which will last more than one day, there are still long hikes and stops, the resulting waste with no one wants to carry, where to put them, it becomes unclear. If you figure it out, it is quite possible to minimize garbage.

When going to the forest, use reusable containers, pack food not in plastic bags, but in paper bags that are used to make a fire. This is called a culture of recreation, which we must learn ourselves and teach our children.

As a result, long hikes, overnight stays in tents, romance, will not be disturbed by buzzing flies eating leftovers from the feast, scattered in the clearing and attracting animals.

Classifying waste and solving recycling problems

Each type of trash has a different structure with a different period of decomposition.

Waste is toxic, there is no harmless garbage, any waste causes a lot of problems to all living things, are classified into the following groups:

Organic matter releases an unpleasant odor during the decomposition process, being a source of reproduction of various bacteria having a destructive factor for flora and fauna.

Scattered food waste attracts unwanted visitors, which can be a great danger to tourists, and rotting to turn into poison for animals.

Such waste does not decompose for a long time, littering the nature and forming a certain thermal cap at the place of contact with the ground, which leaves wounds on the ground, which take a long time to recover, causing the formation of ravines, the main enemies of the forest.

Burying inorganic waste does not solve the problem of disposal, but it causes even more damage to the entire ecosystem due to long-term decomposition and release of toxic substances into the soil, water and air. The only solution is to take it to a landfill.

Ways to dispose of

To avoid destructive effects on the environment, and the vacation involves a long time, you can do as follows:

Paper, cardboard, bio-packages can be placed in the fire and burned without harming others. To prevent the wind from spreading the ashes over the open area, and for safety, it is better to cover the place of the fire with earth, so that the green cover will recover faster.

No matter how hard you try to be extremely careful, there are always leftovers and food scraps. This is organic waste that decomposes quickly in nature. Under the bush, you need to carefully remove the sod, dig a hole and place there all the food residues, bury them and also carefully return the sod cushion in place. After that the place is well filled with water. The food will decompose within a short time, creating a feed for the plants. The main thing is to free all the waste from the plastic bags, otherwise all the efforts will be in vain, and the plastic will reappear on the surface dug up by the animals.

In the same way we do with the waste, burying it away from the parking lot.

Leftovers of bread and cereals can be crumbled on a stump or an open clearing, where there will always be forest dwellers who want to eat.

Cans are made of thin metal, which oxidizes quickly in the air, especially in interaction with water, in order to maximize the process of decomposition it is necessary to get rid of the anti-corrosion coating, placing them in the fire. After burning, the cans can be easily deformed, flatten them with a stone, thereby reducing their volume, and just bury them in the ground, like food waste. The cans will quickly oxidize under the influence of atmospheric influences and do no harm.

Unfortunately, the situation with plastic is worse, if possible, it is better not to take such packaging, and if you do take it with you, you will also have to take it away. It is not advisable to burn plastic, since when it burns it releases toxic gas, which can lead to poisoning.

Although opinions are mixed and many are inclined to believe that gas is not toxic, of course, if you compare the exhaust from cars in the metropolis, burning plastic in a fire seems to be the lesser of evils.

There is always a choice, but its best to avoid this kind of disposal and take your trash to the first dumpster.

Glass containers

Glass does not burn, but is deformed in a fire, after which you need to pour water on the glass, it will become fragile which can be carefully crushed to sand, no problems and consequences of ecology by such actions will not cause, so it is the best solution for a heavy burden. By no means throw the glass just like that and moreover do not pound it without preliminary treatment, it can become the reason of deep wounds not only for people, but also for animals. In order not to bother with this kind of disposal avoid this kind of packaging if possible.

Its a good idea to do this at each camp site as you cook or sleep overnight, not at the last minute, leaving the fire in the fire.

These simple methods can get rid of a significant amount of garbage, and dramatically solve the problem with the environment.

Always remember! Trash on a hike is becoming a real disaster, leaving less and less room for trees, flowers, and animals. With a barbaric attitude toward nature, man will not have it on the ground.

When the culture of recreational behavior improves, fires destroying the still so magnificent forest will stop occurring. Fewer plants will be put in the red book, nature will begin to recover, bringing animals and birds back to their home.
