Hey guys, let me welcome you back to the channel. My name is Justin I’m, Judith you’re, watching survival mindset. Today we’re going to be reviewing the mountain house products. We haven’t reviewed. One of these ever have we now. So we got the chili mac and beef. We’re gonna, be using the MSR pocket rocket, stove right here to heat up our water. So let’s get that started right now. Did you already? You got what 16 ounces of water it requires, which is two cups, looks like this baby.

Getting hot here get not here, so we got the stove going full blast right now. We’re gonna be popping on we’re. Gonna turn this down, so we can put the water balance pretty good right about right. There don’t kick the table so three minutes in we got some boiling water good. You got the stove honey right, yep, okay, so now what you’re gonna do is you’re gonna pour the boiling water in the bag, steer well to mix it all up.

One look in there smells good okay and then they say to close it for eight minutes. Well, I would go a little longer because it really brings out the flavor a lot better. The longer you go quesa, that’s the chili mac with beef and beans. Still a lot of steam coming out of it. Mm-Hmm tastes, good yeah be pretty high blow it you blow it baby blow on it before you eat it. Yeah blow it.

Okay, okay, we’re gonna, be trying this one out, mmm excellent, flavor really again, and when we get this one right here, 2014 yeah, so it’s 2017 right now we easily let these go for five years and then we’ll eat them all up, so they do last a long time. You could go longer than that. I know you can, but we easy this go five years and at home we seal these inside of a home depot 5 gallon bucket with a lid and also, if you really want to get you know, preserve it.

Well, you can vacuum seal the whole entire you in itself, yep, which is excellent, because you don’t want to have rodents or mice or rats breaking in your preps yep. So this was the mountain house reveal it’s an excellent one. I highly recommend it thanks for watching you’re watching survival mindset, peace out.

Trip is complete without eating we’re gonna. Try some mountain house freeze-dried food, see what that’s like this is a mountain house. Chili mac with beef is in its own bag. The coleman max little micro burner is 16 ounces of water in here water’s boiling, using this as a lid, a good idea to boil directions you’re supposed to open this okay.

This looks great freeze, dried beans and pasta. We’re gonna get rid of this silica stuff. Don’t want to eat that add the water. This is boiling. Oh, so stork stir thoroughly I can either get gonna, get something stirred go spork! That’s it this side! Now it says close it. Let it stand for eight to nine minutes and then eat see an eight to nine minutes.

Just in the mountain house, chili mac with beef, I’ve added the boiling water waited the eight minutes, shake it up a little bit. Let’s see what it looks like it’s still too hot to eat. Leave it steam coming out of there sit for another minute before it’s pretty good. You, like chili mac, we’ll see if it’s the bomb.

Okay, we’re trying to mountain house chili mac bag is a little bags. A little too tall for just eating. With my spork make a better bowl. Okay, what I’ve got here looks pretty seriously yeah it’s beef, its chili, its beans. That’s pretty good! Thank you! Mountain house, hmm I’ll, get this again.

Oh, hey yourself, turtles crook, here black outdoors today, I’m going to be doing a little bit of a taste test of a meal that I have, which is the mountain house biscuits and gravy, obviously tailored towards of a breakfast type of meal. It’s probably early afternoon now, I had the intention of eating this haven’t eaten anything all day, so really excited to get this in get this in me.

So it’s biscuits and gravy with pork, patty crumbles and Kenny at Mountain. House saw the last video we put up of the chicken noodles I believe asked. If we wanted to try any more of the products they said, yep send them over. So thank you sign is about three different flavors. But you know, mountain house is really simple.

I was really pleased with the flavor of the last video I. Did the chicken and noodle so I have high expectations for this, so we’ll see got my water boiling right now waiting for that to happen. But basically it’s super easy. You boil water, pour it in the pouch seal. It up, wait eight to nine minutes, start and eat.

It’s that simple, so I’m going to get my water. Let it boil right now get it to temperature, and you know start to make this because I’m really really hungry right now, so about 10 minutes is past. So this should be good I’m going to open it up, give it a stir and see how it tastes. That’s nice and thick I intentionally put a little bit less water in this to keep it thick.

I didn’t want it soupy, but I mean I’ll, get a spoonful and show you how that what I’m saying look at that thick, hmm mmm tastes like biscuits and gravy, not too bad at all, I, probably added a little bit more water, but pretty pleased with it. Um didn’t bring any salt or pepper out with me, doesn’t really need it.

Some pepper part would make it a little bit nicer, but there’s a lot of sodium in this hey. Excuse me. This is thick and add some people comment last time. I did a mountain house meal about saying you know the high sodium content and that’s true, but for me the way I’m looking at this is, if you don’t take this backpacking and you’re on the trail hiking miles a day, you’re going to be sweating most likely, depending on the weather, sweating a lot you’re going to be losing salts losing other things, and it’s important to put all these things back into your body.

So if I’m on the trail and I’m using this backpacking I’m sweating I don’t have any problem to sodium content, because I want to put those salts back in me, but nonetheless I’m super happy with this as a nice way to start the day, get a nice hearty meal and my stomach I’m gonna do a lot of activity in the day.

I would definitely definitely eat this again for breakfast, even at dinner, you know any meal a day, honestly so really pleased with the meal. The convenience, the super you know easy, easy cooking. You know time directions all that steps. It’s really simple and once you do finish the actual meal. What you have, then, is a heavy-duty sealable bag, so you could use this for trash.

You could potentially cook in it I even Kenny at Mount House said some people even use this as a little wash basin put a little bit of soap water in here and cook your ticket tensile stuff, like that. So I would probably see myself using this as probably a bag. If I have a lot of foodstuffs, that’s for great because it’s sealable and it’s heavy-duty and it’s you- know easy to carry trash out of the force with me.

I’m really hungry I’m going to keep eating this, but I want to finish this video first. So if you have any other experiences without you know freeze-dried food or any great, you know backpacking recipes or things to keep food. You know a great food, that’s going to last the wild days on the trail. Anything like that, let me know, leave a comment always looking for new food to take with me all mountain forests, everything just tastes better in the forest.

That’s a fact! That’s a fact, but I hope the video is helpful. Hope these taste test. You know sort of help you make decision. I can I can test food. Tell you if it’s good or not you know, and then you can decide if you want to buy it or not, but anything anything like that. We’ll finish this meal. Now it’s correct signing out with blak outdoors later Turtles.

You.

  • Mountain House Freeze Dried Meals

Howdy there Turtles skirt with like ow today we’re going to be trying out some new food that was sent to us courtesy of Mountain House Kenny over at Mountain House. Thank you. So what we have today that we’re going to be testing out is actually their breakfast skillet. This is the breakfast skillet Pro pack, and this is new sort of graphics for them. They’ll be coming out, basically I think on all the products this year and this meal is going for $6 79 cents. A few things are different.

With this Pro pack, it’s a little bit smaller proportion wise and it’s kind of hard to see because it’s vacuum-seal. But basically this package is 500 calories and, what’s in here we got hash brown, scrambled eggs mixed with pork, sausage, patty, peppers and onions I could eat breakfast pretty much any meal of the day. So, but this is vacuum-sealed for a few reasons. One take up a little bit more excuse me less space in the pack and I asked Kenny. You know why was vacuum-sealed.

He said for that reason, second, for those that are going to be using or taking this with with them to high elevations in the mountains that potentially the freeze-dried food could expand when you get it to higher elevation, so it’s vacuum sealed it won’t. Do that kind of cool right talk a little bit more about mountain house and these free drives freeze-dried food in general, but got the water going down right now. Take that off get in here take out that little freshness pack, which is right there, and then we see the goodies in there salivating.

Yet why wait grab a mouse? Okay got that opened up set that down. Let me get that lid off and get this water in there all right make sure we still got a cup of water. That looks pretty good. So what I want to do is dump this in here carefully without knocking over the packet and without burning my hand might not be enough water, we’re gonna, we’re gonna, see spoon I made, stir this around sure, get all the corners and then mmm seal. This up see on all that heat okay.

So what we got now sealed up I got the one cup of water in there stir and clothes optional after four minutes stir it again. So let’s stand about eight or nine minutes. It’s really nice about these freeze-dried and dehydrated food is that it’s super efficient for packing food in your pack. If you’re going to be going out, camping backpacking in that realm, because you’re just carrying you know the food, basically with all the moisture taking out of it, which moisture weighs a lot, so you get the benefit of having the food without the weight.

You just add the hot water and a ready cooked meal in this. Conveniently you know, sort of packaging and cooking container. You can use as a trash bag after that because it has a seal top to it and I’ve been pretty impressed with that with the flavors of mountain house and I’ve looked through the ingredients, but nonetheless you know not bad for a bad for what it is. I’d say it’s been about three minutes to put that in there I’ll give it another five that’ll take me to so.

If I carry the one divided by 1, 5, okay, while we’re waiting a new spoon I made for myself out of some cherry wood, I came from my grandmother’s yard. A cherry tree, that’s dying. It took down the limb, actually I, think two limbs, but here’s one of the spoons I made pretty cool right. It’d, be a little bit thin, make it thicken it up back here a little bit, but we’ll see how she fares really fun, fun, carving and I plan. To do actual, you know series on the carving tools, I use so stay tuned for that and for you’re interested in that.

Let me know. Alright, it’s been four minutes. I’m gonna stir this as I mentioned before you could as an optional direction and I’ll do that yeah I think the amount of water put in there should work well should work. Well, you know it’s taste test. This I’m kind of hungry pull a little bit out of there see how it tastes real, quick, not quite finished, but not bad, not bad. Maybe we could use some sriracha, let this go in over four minutes and then we’ll. My final impressions and start eating, so all right, time’s up all right doesn’t get in here, should have brought some hot sauce.

I am a hot sauce, addict I, you don’t everything, okay, stirring this up, hmm, not the most appetizing, but you know what I pretty much eat anything I’m, not a super picky eater check out some potatoes on that hashbrown, no piece of meat egg take another bite. Take another bite. Honestly, it’s not too bad, not too bad at all, and now you know it’s kind of what I expected, because what is this I think the third, the third Mountain House meal, I’ve done a video on and the other ones have been really good.

Considering other ones have been really good, so not surprised that yeah, this sort of real medley of ingredients in this one doesn’t taste too bad. The other texture is a little different, definitely not as uh. You know the same consistency if you made this in a frying pan or anything like that, but it’s pretty good. Honestly, it really is in what I carry this and take this yeah I would like I said how you breakfast anytime of the day. You know definitely a a decent meal from mountain house, and these types of meals are great I mentioned before about taking camping or backpacking hiking.

Anything that, but also I, keep a couple of these in the back of my truck, because you never know you just never know, and it’s wintertime, especially to have some extra supplies. You know, actual kit in your car is a great idea and having food. Something like this is a great idea to keep in your car and just to have some of the house. You know some non-perishable foods I think this has about a 10 year 10 year, shelf-life, which is you know, pretty impressive overall, just you know a nice nice little meal in a bag.

Self-Contained super easy to boil water, we’re trying out this little stove today and that worked really well – boy, that cup of water so leave a comment. All the video be like mountain house. This is correct. Signing out the mouthful of food.

Hello: everyone. Today we are going to review the mountain house. Adventure meal breakfast skillet now inside this breakfast skillet that is freeze, dried, is shredded potatoes, scrambled eggs mixed with pork, sausage, peppers and onions now to prepare this just add water for five minutes, then stir it and then leave it, go for another four minutes and then you’re supposed to have a delicious meal.

So let’s open this up and see what looks like inside, but before we open up the breakfast skillet to take a look inside. Let’s see what the quote says on the bottom of the package: don’t try to make friends with raccoons. They will just charge at you, steal your food and then laugh about it with their friends behind your back all right.

Let’s uh! Let’s open this up and take a look inside now it’s an easy tear. You just tear it! Then it has a little bit of a there. We go and it has like a little zip inside. So I don’t want to forget to take out the oxygen and absorber so yeah. You can see the peppers and the onions and the pork sausage and let’s take a look at the freeze-dried egg eggs huh all right.

Let’s uh, get that water boiling and get the show on the road. Okay, the water is just about boiling and one thing I wanted to tell you guys about these when I did that last biscuits and gravy one, I kind of let the water cool a little bit before I dumped it in the bag, so some of it was still crunchy. So, let’s try it this way.

Let’s make sure we dump it in the bag. While it’s boiling, it’s ready. Let’s turn off the burner. First, eh. Okay, oh a little bit steamy there we go okay, now we’re supposed to seal it for five minutes. Okay, the bag is now sealed. Let’s wait for five minutes and give it a stir. Okay, it’s been five minutes. Let’s open the bag up, take a look to see what it looks like after five minutes of cooking inside the bag with boiling water.

Let’s give it a little bit of a mix it up. Some, oh yeah! You can see the green peppers. Oh yeah looks good, smells pretty decent all right, let’s seal this back up and wait four minutes and okay, our breakfast skillet is almost done cooking, but before we uh open this bag up, there’s a couple things that I find really cool about this one is: this is good until 2050, that’s a really long shelf life and another good thing that I learned is when a product is freeze-dried, it keeps 97 of all nutrition.

So, in all my videos, you’ll see in the description the nutrition facts but yeah. So this whole container is two servings and it’s 510 calories. Let’s see the sodium 790 milligrams, the whole bag, 1580 milligrams, total carbs 20, oh 46 grams protein, 28 grams, pretty awesome! Okay! I can’t wait no longer, let’s uh dump this in the bowl and uh give it a review, but the only reason I’m dumping this in the bowl is because you, the viewer, because you can just open this bag up and eat right out of the bag, which is really cool.

I think no dishes very convenient just throw it away when you’re done eating it all right. Let’s give it a review, it has a pretty good smell to it. Let’s see what the potatoes look like in it. Well, those potatoes taste pretty good. It has a good flavor to it. The sausage in it very mild in flavor, actually the sausage, the pork sausage is so mild.

It is difficult to tell what kind of meat that you are eating so could be. Pork could be beef. Good texture, though, just doesn’t have that sausage. Pork flavor in it. Okay, let’s try the the egg in it. I was just looking at it see and what I noticed again about these mountain house adventure meals as I left it in the bag.

I would say for a good 11 to 12 minutes a little extra and I can still and the eggs taste of dryness in it a crunchiness still, but the flavor itself. It’s not bad. Just gonna have to start leaving these cook, for I would say about 15 minutes and maybe give it a good shake in between well. Here, take a look at it, okay, so this is what the final product looks like the breakfast skillet.

Let’s give it a good, so you can see the potatoes, the pork, the green pepper, the red, pepper. Okay, let’s give it a regular taste test now see what this is about. It’s pretty good! I just wish I would have cooked it. Just a little bit longer left it in the bag for a good another six minutes. At least I would recommend leaving these in cooking in the bag for at least 15 to 20 minutes honestly, but the flavor itself.

It’s not bad. It’s nicely seasoned, it doesn’t need any salt which I was surprised because I thought it was definitely gonna need salt and with 1580 milligrams of salt, I’m glad uh. You don’t need to add any more salt to this, but the taste itself isn’t really bad. So what would I rate the mountain house? Breakfast skillet? I would rate this breakfast skillet, a five, I’m sorry, it just didn’t have that taste and texture that I was looking for.

I give it a five, especially for the cook time that mountain house suggests I suggest 15 to 20 minutes and you might have a better tasting product, but would I buy it again? Maybe if it was one of the few items left on the shelf, but it wasn’t bad, I mean I would definitely I’m glad I bought it. I’m glad I tried it, but I give it a five and uh.

That’s just the way. It is all right. Thank you for watching and uh I’ll see you again soon. You.

Everybody Travis here, Mud Creek calm, want to do a review today of the Mountain House chicken Terry with rice pouch. This is kind of the normal sized pouch. They also sell them in a pro pack. This is a different flavor, but you get an idea of the size here. These are about two ounces, the probe or excuse me, two servings, the pro packs. This pouch here is about 2 5 servings a little bit different.

They don’t vacuum so the regular pouches here, as you can see it’s just a you know, it’s got a little bit of oxygen in it, but they they do great I, actually like these a little bit more in some ways, just because they’re one they’re a little bit bigger serving having 2 5 servings in which I like and they you know, I actually like kind of how these stack, because you could stack them like that and they come in a box of or a case of six.

So if you want to buy it for food source, it’s great item. I, think these are great for food storage, for hunting fishing, camping, backpacking. You know I really think mountain house is kind of the leader in that area when it comes to freeze-dried foods and- and you know any kind of instant easy to make foods like this, because all you have to do is pretty much add water which I love, and so you know, hot water, typically boiling water cool thing about them is the last quite a long time.

Mountain house I, don’t even see that, but they quit printing a expiration date on it. They just print a manufactured date. So this was manufactured in October, 14 2013. They say that they’ll last they used to be seven years, but they’ve changed some of the processes and now the last up dead at ten plus years. They say all that will really happen after ten years that you might notice a little bit more discoloration in that a change in the maybe a little less flavor to it.

But it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad and that’s the cool thing about they even said they won’t. You know they’ve said on their on their website that they’ve even had some ago 30 years and it tasted just fine. So something to think about 10 is kind of the what they say, but they’ll go quite a bit longer than that and you shouldn’t have any problems with them. I love mountain house, like I, said I, think they’re great product.

We’re going to do is we’re going to fire this up, get some water going here and actually taste it and you know obviously I won’t be able to describe exactly how it tastes but I hope I can give you a pretty clear picture. Here’s just a little quick look at the ingredients and the nutritional facts. This is all post on our website. Where we sell these, you can look and read a little bit more.

So if you have any questions specifically on this, if you have any allergies or whatnot, for example, look down here, it says, contains soy and wheat, so if you’re allergic to soy or have a gluten allergy, something to think about anyway. Here’s the preparation, all you do. Is you open the package and and remove the oxygen absorber? Remember to do that. I forgot to do that sometimes add two cups of boiling water to it, and then you stir it up and- and you see what you got there, so you let it sit for eight to nine minutes, and then you can stir it up.

I tend to just kind of mix it with my hand, I’m going to get this water going on our trusty little cooker here and I’ll be back with you in just a second and we’ll show you what we got all right. We got our stove going here. I got to go ahead and throw this on this is the optimist crux light if anybody’s curious, which stove it is, it’s got a little lid here too I like to throw it on there just to help contain some of that heat.

It’ll typically boil water, and you know, depending on altitude and temperature, three to five minutes I’ve, had it real cold weather, where it was really hard to keep going, but just because you know, is 16 below so all right. So, let’s tear this open here, show you what we got Oh real, quick before I. Do that? Let me just tell you else is on here. This is about five point, one point: zero 1 ounces packed.

So if you’re curious what it’s going to do to your backpack weight or anything else about it measure this for you, so you can see the difference in in in dimensions here. So it’s about 10, inches of Shive 10 inches by oh about seven and a quarter inches, and then these things I mean you can kind of flat these down a little bit. So if you wanna make a platter, you can definitely do that, but they’re measured on the ball and give you a better feel for it, they’re about two inches, so it kind of gives you the idea and tear it open here, be careful when you tear these.

Sometimes if you, if you don’t tear right it tears up top like it kind of did there and you start from the other side and leave it or you don’t want to tear down there’s a resealable part here kind of like a ziploc bag. So this is the chicken teriyaki with rice. I’m had this one too much, so this is going to be experience. For me, this is the oxygen absorber. You just need to pull out. I, don’t know, it’ll kill you if you left it in there, I’ve done it a couple times, so it didn’t kill me, but I wouldn’t eat this.

You know or let it contaminate your food. So that’s what it looks like dry. You know it doesn’t look bad at all. Actually, so as soon as this water is ready to go, we’ll dump it in there and see what we’ve got you said you want to get it boiling. What I kind of do is special figure out the wilderness to use like Creek water or something like that. You definitely want to get it boiling, but I mean you could probably get away with it, not boiling if you wanted to it’s just kind of up to you.

So this is a combination of oriental flavors. So it’s more of an oriental meal I’m going to go ahead and shut this off and wait till the water gets going here in fact actually about there. So maybe we’ll just leave it on anyway, this some of the ingredients and it’s cooked chicken soy sauce brown, sugar, bamboo, shoots, mushrooms, red peppers, green peas, modified cornstarch, sherry wine, onions, green peppers, garlic powder, alcohol, I’m, not sure that is for but ground, ginger, salt, vinegar, lactic, acid, so really I, don’t read this and think, there’s anything crazy in it.

It just seems well, you know weird to me so that’s kind of the nice thing about it looks like our water’s boiling here so pop this off before we get water everywhere shut. My heat off set that over here, so all you’re going to do. Is you take this hot water obviously want to be careful not to burn yourself and then dump it in I’ll kind of show you, as you can see it a little bit but dump it in uh.

You know it’s best to mix it up with a spoon you can also mix it up with. You know if you have gloves on I, wouldn’t recommend doing this without gloves, but if you seal it off and you kind of kind of squeeze the pouch like this and get it mixed up, it’s obviously pretty hot right now, so you might have to let it cool to do that. But you really want to kind of make sure the ingredients are mixed and we said it gets pretty hot like that.

Yeah touch it for too long. So what that’s it for the eight to nine minutes and we’ll see how it looks and I’ll get back to you all right. The nine minutes is up. Let’s take a look at this and see what we got. The just stir it up real, quick here: okay, so that’s kind of what it looks like right there just right in the bag. You know don’t look too bad dump it in a bowl here and you can see what it looks like cutting an idea of the full size of this.

It looks like we didn’t stir it up well enough on the bottom hits on it, we’ll stir it up here in the bowl. Some of those seasoning looks like that toward the bottom. You know you might even just shake it up a little bit, especially the stuff like this. It’s a little heavier in the seasonings. You might just shake it up a little bit before you dump the water in it and get it kind of mixed up.

That’s probably something I should have done that I think would have helped, but you know, oh no I, don’t think it looks bad at all. I spilled off the bowl here. Let me tell you on the taste and it’s a little hot, but you know it doesn’t really taste like that. Minute Rice, you’ve seen they’re, just real, cheap stuff and I actually tastes pretty good. It’s got. You know the grain rice tastes pretty good in it, and it’s kind of a sweet-and-sour flavor with a little bit of sound I, wouldn’t say taht as far as like spicy goes, but it does have maybe just just a little bit of a kick to it, but not really I mean I, don’t if you’re not in the hot speeds I, you know it’s not too bad.

It’s just more of a teriyaki flavor I, don’t think tastes bad at all, though there’s a mushroom there kind of give an idea. Now let me get a piece of chicken there’s a piece right here and I can tell you how it tastes, chicken tastes. Fine, it doesn’t taste like you know, I can’t even tell it’s like freeze-dried or anything on app, so it tastes pretty good. You know, if you’re not into oriental foods or anything you may not like this flavor I, don’t mind it.

I would definitely throw it. You know I would say it’s one of my favorites just cuz. You know it just kind of depends on the mood, I’m and I’m, not always in the mood for oriental food. So but I would definitely throw this in my pack if I were going on a longer trip. Definitely put my food storage is just something to spice it up and add some different flavor I, like it I, don’t mind it at all.

Like I said it’s probably not my number one flavor, but you know, if you don’t mind, some oriental food I, definitely recommend this one I. Don’t think you go wrong at all so anyway, I hope this gives you a kind of a clearer idea of what it looks like after it’s been cooked. So you kind of get an idea. If this is something you’d want to throw in your food storage or throw in your backpack gets a thumbs up from me, I would definitely put it mine, that’s just my opinion, but I.

Don’t think you’d go wrong with this, especially if you don’t mind oriental food I think it would taste just fine. One thing is you could probably go. You know if you wanted to. If you wanted to have a little less water in there, you probably could you know you just want to make sure that rice is kind of rehydrating up a little bit so come check us out at Mud Creek com. We do sell these on there.

We sell them by the case as well. So if it’s something you want to throw in there come check us out. We have some good deals. Also have some more information there. So you can kind of see the whole picture and make a good decision for you, thanks and and we’ll talk to you later.

Colorado teriyaki was right, mount outside chicken teriyaki with why sorry? For the top of this didn’t bring it it good. Just like dried up stuff, yeah it’ll work, all right, hot water in the chicken clear it up. My MSR spork freak out this thing I forget to do that seal it up. Let it sit for what’s of 89 minutes, which is why I out there? Okay, then flip them.

Let’s open this thing up, give it a quick stir to face way: Wow! Alright! Well, you see it in there grace looks pretty good and I looked hurt again, stirred up three crisis on fully hydrated chicken tonight. Remember, that’s pretty good! Teriyaki flavors are balanced. That’s it it’s just pretty decent! So for chicken teriyaki with rice, cool, dude, vs wild, get this thing I’ll two thumbs up and here’s the other one right there good stuff and try it.

You.

Is Miss dougie with diamond, be outdoors today we’re going to be doing our next piece in our series of uh survival foods today we’re going to be trying the adventure, meals, mac and cheese, so we’ve got some water boiling on the campfire and we’ll put that in here in just a second okay. So we’ve got some boiling water here, it’s gonna be 1 and 1/3 cup and I’m actually going to tell you about these nutrition facts.

It’ll be right up here, so for one serving, which is have prepared. There’s supposed to be two servings in here. It’s going to be 310 calories, 14 grams of fat, 680 of sodium 33, total carbs and 13 of protein. That’s not terrible Bellus, miss Poste! So go ahead to remove this all right. This is stir carefully close the zipper when we wait five minutes and stir again and reseal and then set for additional four minutes.

So now we’re gonna sit and wait now all right. So we waited the five minutes. Give it a stir here and protip is while it’s sitting just go ahead and smush it around a little shake. It helps it mix it up a little bit better and wait another four minutes and then, after that, four minutes all right. So it’s been time and now we’re gonna give this stuff a try um. It says creamy, mac and cheese, but it’s more like watery mac and cheese.

Some clumps Hey all right, I’m gonna, try and put some in a bowl here that does not look appetizing way too much water, so maybe don’t put as much water. If you try, let’s see then I mean it. Countries like it was off-brand powder, cheese, packet, type of macaronis, not the worst I could eat it. We’ll eat it a little bit o dente. So far. Let’s it longer, but it’s not bad yeah! It’s not terrible.

I’m gonna eat it. Gonna! Try something! Don’t give you a mouthful so I’m an exclusive Velveeta, mac-and-cheese guy, it’s liquid gold. This actually tastes exactly like Kraft, Mac and Cheese to me, but more watering, more watery, but I think we’re gonna fix that yeah! It’s not bad I need it. I need to prep out of it star rated sorry I mean I like the off-brand crap powder, mac and cheese, so I’d give it a 4 I’ll eat it he’s not gonna eat it.

You might, but he likes the Velveeta. So it’s not Velveeta, you probably don’t like it. Yeah I before I eat it again. Yeah no big deal very good. You know really easy to make so there’s that so anyways we’re at inks Lake right now, so we’re doing a video for our venture series on that also, so that link is gonna be also below, and you can also click on our links to all of these different things.

We’re using. Is there an Amazon affiliate, so we get a little bit of profit if you use our links to buy these things, so we can keep doing these adventures and making these awesome videos for you, so I’m gonna enjoy my mac and cheese.

Morning, guys, what’s not on a hike today with some work in here and it’s about lunchtime so I figured I do another trail. Food, video and today I’m hopping on the mountain house train again today, chicken teriyaki with rice hope it’s good have never had it so far haven’t been to let down by any of these meals. Some are better than others, but you know we’re going to get some water boiling and see what it tastes like. So stay tuned, ok, guys, like most Mountain House recipes.

This one requires water and 1 75 cups feedback. Ok, there we go. He is a trustee, gsi, stove, okay, guys waters just come to a boil, don’t forget to take out the absorber. A lot of people forget, including myself, I’ve open up the package. That’s what it looks like right. There. Everything needs to be hydrated again so now that I’ve got a really good Boyle going I’m gonna, oh I kind of always an issue with the compliment. Oh now, I’m just going to kind of mix you a bit and close it now, I find.

If you don’t look all that. Well, turn that off in the winter months, what’s out some kind of heat retainer, so I use this here, a lot of people make their own, they call them pot cozies with reflect Ock’s and just keeps the heat in but I’m going to take this, I will put it my backpack for about 8 or 9 minutes, stir it up a little bit and then I’ll laughs check back with you. Oh guys sit in my backpack for those 10 minutes, so hoping it’s ready, still sort of park on a side note.

What is it about the Sun? That’s just I! Guess you don’t realize how much you missed it. I don’t know what the weather could like you know. Yet here we had nothing but bloom and rain from oakland city jersey. The 15 minutes ago to the sun came out an honest about 10 minute baby and it felt like ring and warms up. My attitude changes full of energy and yes and realize how much missing that son is to. Let me tell you, you know it is the middle of winter, because he’s been more fun when it snows and has a lot of see weeks, at least up after this goes down volumes to get some Sun put the terrace, not the game anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program.

All right, you can see that well good, except one soldier yaki in there like cheese peppers, the chicken right, mushrooms, Jesus. You know what this whole day today and just a one of us alone is that that’s trying to make me happy the flavor. If he said the consistency of all the readings, I’ve discussed, yeah it’s up, I would be due to the point of this one again. All right would much rather not second apps, an actual name typing milk, but this is pretty good.

You know we convene like well the ones three quarter cup of water hopkinton innocence, that’s different in that it’s not eating right out of here and then in a nap I’ll, just roll. This up pocket, awake and I’m done so hi give this Holly what a 7 5, let it can play with decent, not great exertion and the residence hall coefficient. So now it is recommended, and especially if you have snow Rubin to pack, support comes old spirits, bringing some food I can with.

Yes, this is a great, simple and mutating animals. So, once again, thanks for joining me you’re watching you liked the video give me a thumbs up and don’t forget to go down there. We have new videos covering every week and then once he was an excellent thanks again see you the next one. We hope.

Hey guys, epicentre Bryan here, hey, we Turkey diced Turkey, so we’re gonna be trying this out today and we’re gonna be doing three things. First, we’re gonna go ahead and make the entire can and we’re gonna try the turkey, while it’s hot and then we’re gonna, chill it down and we’re gonna make some turkey sandwiches out of it and then some of the leftovers tomorrow, we’re gonna, be making a turkey casserole.

I think we’re doing turkey Tetrazzini with a recipe that Jen’s come up with now. One thing I also wanted to point out are the sandwiches. We are using Hellmann’s yeah that Hellmann’s mayonnaise and anyway, I found that we could actually get this in town nobody’s got it except, let’s see it’s called Grocery Outlet and they end up with a lot of oddball things.

So anyway they had this. I was thrilled. Janet really likes this, so I bought four gallons of it and we are set all right. That’s it we’re gonna, get this opened and heat that up and then we’re gonna try mountain house diced Turkey. Alright! This is what the turkey looks like. So the physical size is probably quarter-inch, but maybe half inch does that kind of look about the right size anyway, we’ll actually measure it so I’m gonna go ahead and put this in the hot water and there’s an oxygen absorber, so I’m gonna kind of try to keep an eye on that there, maybe an oxygen absorber or they may have nitrogen flushed this so I’m, not a hundred percent sure on this one.

You got it: okay, beautiful, okay, Jenny see what you think of that. It looks like dark meat, turkey, diced now I will say: I tried a little bit before we reconstituted it just to see it’s really salty. So I’m hoping this is a little better. It’s Turkey! It’s Turkey! It’s just dark meat, turkeys! Yeah. How do you think that’s gonna work out, then, in your dish tomorrow, I didn’t go beyond me.

Meant name is Linda hi Linda, so Linda is a local customer who just showed up and she’s agreed to try the mountain house freeze-dried turkey. So there we go see what you think. Okay, that’s it! That’s it tastes like Turkey, that’s kind of what we were hoping for, so we’re happy. It’s very good. I would probably add salt. Okay, that’s that’s a good comment.

It does have salt in it and when you drain off the water, that’s – supposed to try to drain off some of that salt. That’s part of the preservation, probably good salt, all right! Well, thanks for your input! Thank you. It does smell, smells good, like fresh turkey kind of reminds me of after Thanksgiving that rehydrated wonderfully didn’t it.

What’s that from the cam, this whole pot yeah, Wow, yeah and John here you’re trying this now mm-hmm. It’s like that. Turkey loaf, that you get at the store when you don’t want to cook a whole turkey, it’s good did you have any Everett I have knives, try something bland yeah, Sarah how’s, the texture. Is it too chewy too soft to anything? No, it’s not the texture of Turkey.

It’s on this schooi side yeah! It is it’s on the chewy side cuz, it’s a it’s a process, sort of mean, but it’s done well. It’s not too salty and, like I said before it tastes like that. Turkey loaf that I loved growing up I, don’t think it tastes processed via toffee. No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t taste processing, it’s just um. It’s on the slightly chewy side.

Yeah me, but chewy meat, not not like some of that chewy process do that. We have I mean it’s turkey, that’s been cooked and freeze-dried. Hmm Oh is not turkey jerky all right! Well, we’re gonna go ahead and chill this down and then we’re gonna make sandwiches okay round. Two Jen is making a turkey salad sandwich how’s. That look. Is that creamier? That’s good! Here’s Jon ready to munch on some of that great fake cheese, yummy and fake mustard freedom mustard.

You want some tomatoes or pickles Mayo’s tomatoes. You don’t like my kind of cheese I do before it goes bad. Okay, that’s pro flow yeah, geez, okay, John you! That is one ugly. Looking a little sandwich. There’s not have a knife. Is that the deal? This is two kinds of cheese: turkey, salad, okay, so what I put in there was onion I put onion and I put dill pickles a little bit of pepper black pepper, no salt, because it’s got enough salt and Hellmann’s mayonnaise.

Oh there’s Jenny you’re doing a thumbs up on the turkey food. That’s really good! I know in an emergency situation, you’re, probably not gonna, be making a turkey salad sandwich and have all the fixings and cut the tomatoes and the cheese but part of the taste testing process. Is we get to do some fun things with this and I’m really impressed? This is really good.

I’m, happy, I didn’t put any cheese or tomatoes. That’s really good. It’s a really good Hellmann’s mayonnaise yep freedom, mustard yeah- and this is the mountain house freeze-dried diced. Turkey is good works! Well, okay, it’s the next day and we’re doing something with the extra turkey that’s going on here that we found online so we’re adding the rest of our diced Turkey rehydrated, diced Turkey, some spaghetti, cheese, mushrooms, onions, cream of mushroom soup and we’re making a turkey Tetrazzini all right.

Hopefully, fingers crossed it’s delicious and do you think we need two of those or four is all that gonna fit in one we’ll find out. You got the whole thing in there yep awesome. So how long’s I got to cook I haven’t read the instructions, wait, 40 minutes, 40, minutes where’d, you guys get the recipe and what is that food com? I assume? Oh Jenny found it, so we doctored it a little bit.

We didn’t have celery salt, so we added some urban Mara salt and we did not add the diced, pimento and I didn’t measure out the turkey I just was the turkey but yeah and also I, was in charge of finding the bouillon, cubes and I couldn’t find him, and so I got chicken stock, so we’re using chicken stock. Okay, that is all that is all for now.

I do five more minutes. Oh you can’t wait. One thing you forgot to tell people. Is we put fresh mushrooms in there? Oh, thank god, not canned ones. Thank you, hey, there’s! The little monster. Are you gonna share that with your mom all right? This is what we do with the episode. Yes, yes, and we do feed your son mom hi mom. The other thing we did was we use.

Instead of regular cream of mushroom soup, we use the cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic. That was our joint idea was sorry, it’s really hot, perfect game day food. This is like comfort, food. You did it’s really good! Oh, are you putting a little monster away? Yes, goodbye monster, then I’m gonna bark at me, while I eat, but you’re not going with us today, no I have a birthday party in a chiropractor appointment.

This is reminds me of home. You don’t see a lot of she’s, really great I’m texting my family about it. My Midwest family are, and are you okay with the garlic I am I’m fine with the garlic okay, yeah I like to go excellent, I’m super happy I think you should post this recipe. Please show it on the camera. Yeah put it on the blog yeah, really like step by step, everything you put in it, yeah, okay! Well, that’s it! The last thing that we’re gonna do with the mountain house freeze-dried turkey, and this is a winner and for the epicenter, calm, Janet and Jessica epicenter journey epicenter, Jon, epicenter, Brian and man.

We did totally polish it off John. You have lik that if you want I do what a liquid but I’m not going Frank’s on here and we’re still wishing that MRE Franks sauce would come out. Yeah I have to keep some in my car. If you wanna go out for breakfast, does nobody ever has free.

It’s pretty badly damaged, so what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna. Take this back to our research and development group and we are gonna, do some testing on it. I’m Elise, Barnes I’m with mountain house I’m, the Sales Account Representative for epicenter and we’re gonna go ahead and do some tests on this to see how functional even a damaged can like this would be. We will probably pull o twos and read to see if there’s any oxygen leak going on. We would run a nutritional profile to see if that has caused any nutritional loss and also maybe some water activity, because if the O twos read that there is oxygen leaking in it’ll show at what rate the water activity is rehydrating and we’ll see what comes of that with this much damage, I’m Elise with mountain house I’m back visiting with epicenter, Brian and Jana, and the team I just wanted to come back and review some of the data that we got back from that really damaged.

Can that I took back to the office and had my research and development group do testing on, and this is what we found so oxygen level was 108 parts per million and our standards are under two percent o2 levels when we put them in the can, and that was consistent with our regular standards. Moisture of the chicken was 0 1 92% moisture in the chicken, and our standards require under 3 percent moisture, which that falls well below with being lower than two percent micro results came back with Salmonella negative and total coliform when a overview of the other things that we test for came all within our finished good specifications and certificate of analysis data point.

So what that is saying is that the damage on that can did not impact the quality or the infrastructure of it. That would affect the product. So that’s good news, although we don’t recommend that you consume damaged product on seals or seams site or top damage is what we consider minor. So that is where we get to our taste and product guarantee. We guarantee that our products will taste as good the day that we put them in the can twelve plus years on the pouches and twenty-five plus years on the number ten cans.

So we’ll replace any item that you feel does not represent that guarantee in our products, because we believe that they will withstand the test of time and we say plus because we are showing, with our sensory and product testing, that it will exceed those timelines if stored in a cool dry place. Quietly, we say if it comes upon the time where your expiration date is. Is we we don’t recommend that you throw it away? You know we recommend that you check it, make sure that nothing has degraded on any of the seals and that the product is still free-flowing and that will usually indicate that it is still under three percent moisture, so no risk of the product going bad.

So I hope that helps answer any questions and we’ll talk to you later for the epicentre com, I’m, epicentre, Brian and I’m a lease with Mountain House and we’re signing.

Buying mountain house freeze-dried food in bulk. So if you caught my last video on the 14-day emergency food supply kit, I’ll, just summarize that real quick what I did was went out got this kit. It’s like a sample pack has maybe 10 or 15 different types of meals in there, so I went through and I cooked them all up individually, not all the same day. But you know over a period of a couple of months, cooked them all up, gave him the taste test and then I ranked him on a scale of 1 to 10, so I went through gave him eat your ranking, and the point was to figure out which ones I liked the best in the least so I’d know which ones to buy in bulk.

Ok, once I got that done, then I took my list and I went shopping and searched all over and I found a good deal on jet and I got picked up, I think a couple of cases at about two dollars and fifty cents a serving for breakfast skillet, which is pretty good and then I came across some chili mac with beef. For two dollars, a serving just get, which is really good deal, but these deals are hard to find so I wanted to just go out and you know get one big purchase at a decent price instead of having to spend forever building them up at.

You know a case at a time. So that’s when I came across this safe castle, I went to the safe castle website and you see. They’ve got all kinds of stuff on here and I went and found the mountain house link, and you see they carry like the pouches and the number 10 cans and they carry a whole bunch of stuff on here. So you can kind of go through this, but I was interested in I wanted to get a lot of this 45 case deal right here.

If you go down here, that’s two hundred and seventy number: ten cans. That’s a lot of mountain house, all right, free delivery and here’s what it’s got they list out all the contents. This is case this’ll, be like three cases of spaghetti with me: one case chicken, a la king and so on. So you know all this stuff breakfast and then the more expensive meat cases. But if you check out this, it’s substitutions are possible.

Okay. So what I did is I printed out the list and then I went through and I adjusted it based on my taste test right, so I picked, my favorites and I got rid of all the stuff. I didn’t like like these crackers and stuff, like that, you know, and then what I did was I called him up and I talked to Laura over there and I gave her my substitution list, and then she came back with like their best price, and it was pretty good.

It was a lot less than this. You can get a lower price than this by if you give them my name, they’ll give you a lifetime membership, which is like a $50 value and once you’re on this lifetime membership thing you get all the discounts and stuff, and so you know they’ll give you their best price. So that’s what I did I changed the list, adjusted to what I wanted, got a good price and then I went ahead and placed my order and wait for it to come in 45 cases, 270 number 10 cans all squeezed in there got about close to 400 number 10 cans of mountain house and about 600 quart jars, mostly potatoes, green beans, carrots, some chicken and ground beef I’ll squeeze in here.

Okay, so that’s it for this one. Thanks for watching we’ll see you in the next one.

You need for survival is emergency food what’s happening handed nation peter pan panda here. This is a bucket of food by one of my favorite companies, mountain house, and one of the reasons that I like mount house is they’ve, been around forever tried their stuff, but their freeze-dried food is actually really good and, unlike some of the other companies out there, it really has a lot of taste and actually replicates a homemade meal in a lot of ways which is really nice when you’re out great wilderness here, so that you have a little bit of like home comfort while you’re out in the wilderness.

But this is a little bucket 24 servings, and this can be great whether you are worried about power, outages or empty grocery shelves or you’re on a camping trip or an expedition or whatnot they’re very light. This whole bucket here is, I don’t know six or seven pounds and it comes with these meals here.

So I thought we would check these out and see what you get okay. So, let’s check out this mountain house bucket, you can see there’s a little tab right here for the first time you are opening this thing. First time is always the scariest and you just peel this away. I do like the fact that it comes with this top so that you can close it back up seal it back up, make sure that everything is nice and fresh on the top here it says: lift lift, lift lift.

So basically, I think it’s going to hinge up this way, so there got it open and it’s actually pretty tight, which is a kind of a good sign, and then you can open it up and now you can see our mountain house meals in here. What we get are 12 total pouches, there’s three of two meals and then there’s two of three meals.

So let’s see what we get here, classic spaghetti with meat sauce. That’s pretty awesome! I’m excited about that because I love that and we get two of those chicken fried rice. I’m pretty excited about checking that out with green peas, onions, carrots, mushrooms, so we get two of those and then we have granola with milk and blueberries two of those, and then we also get beef stew, hearty gravy with beef, potatoes, carrots and peas right there and we get three of those.

Then we get beef stroganoff with noodles in savory, cream, sauce with mushrooms and onions, and we get three of those now. The pouches here are all sealed, as well kind of in this foil, and they are very light as most freeze-dried food is. But what is interesting about this is that there are two servings per container, so this should feed two people in an emergency.

It should be both of our meals. Now I will say this bucket is not the biggest bucket, even though it’s pretty big. Some of these are more densely packaged. I think the wise foods and things like that can have 100 servings, so this isn’t as food dense as some of the other services. But what I really like about it is that I enjoy eating the mountain house stuff for the most part.

It’s really really tasty, I’m hoping that this will be tasty too. Now. I do want to show you what two servings looks like for a lot of people. I’ve noticed in the comments when I pour out to the contents of the package. They seem to think that that is just a serving, and I think that’s actually fair, because, especially when you’re out and about in the wilderness, working to exhaustion you get pretty hungry and also kind of serving size is a little arbitrary.

I’ve noticed that on anything from potato chips to crackers, to whatever it might say that this is six servings, but some people just help themselves and eat the whole thing. So, first of all, I want to show you how this works. You can see. We have little tabs right here on the side. So what I can do here is just tear off this top all right now.

This will actually act as my bowl as well, but we will be pouring this out so that you can see what’s in here and then what we have to do is open this little bad boy up and take out the little oxygen packet. You don’t want that it does have a little ziploc lining in there and you can see the food in there looks like shredded spaghetti in a lot of red dust and then it says to boil water and add one and three quarter: cups of water stir it up seal it back up and then let it sit for five minutes open it up, stir it up again and let it sit for an additional four minutes.

Now I’ve gone ahead and boiled some water here and like a lot of us, I think we will just probably have to eyeball the water. So one and three quarter cups, just a shy of under two cups, I’m just going to kind of pour it in here and kind of guess, stimate a little bit, especially when you’re using boiling water.

You want to make sure that you’re holding the pouch on the sides because it can get pretty hot all right. Sometimes it ends up a little runny. I actually think that’s probably the safer way to go, because when you get a mouthful of the dry powder, sometimes that kind of stinks. So what I like doing here is just kind of stirring it up now a little bit.

It already has the smell of spaghetti, so that’s pretty great and if I do find that there isn’t enough moisture to get to all of the dried areas, I can just add a little bit more. So I am going to add it up here. Make sure that I get everything wet. So I think things are pretty well saturated there. So I’m just going to go ahead and seal this up set a timer for five minutes.

Stir it up and wait four more minutes, and then we will try eating it all right time for the taste test. I want to tell you that at the five minute mark I opened it up and I added just a splash, more water, maybe a few tablespoons of water just because that water got absorbed by the freeze-dried food.

A lot and what I noticed here after the total nine minutes are up, is that it looks pretty good smells good too. Now, if you are outdoors and it is really cold out, I think the boiling water is also probably going to cool off. So it’s definitely cool enough to touch at this point, but I think the hotter, the water, the faster it’ll soak in potentially, I just want to dump it out here, because I want you to see what it really looks like, as well as the portion sizes.

I also noticed that it says 250 calories for one serving or 470 for two, I’m not exactly sure how that math works out but, like I said I think most people will probably just eat this by themselves and what I love about mountain house is obviously you can just use this package as a bowl and eat right out of it.

I see people sitting around the campfire eating right out of these things, but I wanted to put it on plate so that you can see it kind of average size plate here and I don’t know kind of looks like a full can of like the canned spaghetti. It’s pretty thick here. I probably could have added a little more water, but it’s good when it sticks to your ribs.

That’s good! All the noodles are kind of cut down, so you don’t have things sliding off. It’s got a little bit of spice in that sauce and I taste little chunks of beef as well. That’s really good I’ll. Tell you what that’s why I love mountain house, because it’s not just about the convenience to be able to carry a lot of freeze-dried food.

That’s very light! It’s really about the eating experience. It was great 10 minutes, you have a nice hot meal adds a little bit of civilization back to your outdoors, and what I love is that you can buy this package here with all these classic meals in this container, which snaps closed again, so that if you have flooding heavy rain things like that, you don’t have to worry about losing this.

It’s probably going to float and it’s going to keep all those meals safe so that you can feed yourself and your loved ones in case of an emergency or just grab them as you’re heading out for an exciting outdoor adventure, either way for about 90 bucks. I think this is a great value for all these delicious meals from mountain house and it’s a great way just to stay prepped in case of an emergency.

If you want to pick it up I’ll, put a link to it in the description below peter pan panda out one of the most important things that one of the most important things you can have for.

Welcome to the employee kitchen today, we’re gonna be making spaghetti sauce and we’re gonna be adding this mountain house ground beef. Now this is freeze-dried and you can make a small amount of it. If you want once you open this, you need to use it within a week. We’re gonna go ahead and use the the whole amount put it in our spaghetti. Sauce have lunch. Let you know what we think. Okay, we’ve opened, the can and, as you can see, there are just little meat crumbles in here like regular ground beef.

When you make it yourself, so we’re gonna rehydrate this and then add it to the sauce. We just add the ground beef to the boiling water and it can just be hot water and just let it start soaking up and then, after a little while we’ll be able to drain off the excess water and we’re ready to go I like it tastes like ground beef to me, I’d use it in chili, spaghetti taco, seasoning, oh yeah tacos would actually be excellent in tacos how’s, the texture good huh, nothing out of the ordinary mm-hmm I’m ready to have it in spaghetti, mmm a little tomato sauce before I eat it all all right.

First taste, test of spaghetti with mountain house, ground beef, it’s difficult, eat, spaghetti on camera, mm-hmm, emergency situation, you’d be thinking you’re eating at a fancy. Italian restaurant yeah. This is good. Yep. Definitely excellent goes quite as well, so you can do it. The fancy Italian way: oh yeah, maybe maybe this Borg today we’re going to be making spaghetti sauce and we’re going to be making it with mountain house. Okay, one more time. Okay, we’ve opened! This can, and this is what it looks like.

It just looks like regular ground meat, yeah yeah. It looks like, or whatever oK we’ve opened, the can- and this is what it looks like just looks like regular ground beef with you know: small little module, tasty little meat modules. Okay, huh we’ll meet crumbles. It is slightly seasoned, so it’s not totally flavorless by itself and surprisingly, not that greasy either. It’s not greasy at all. Huh I thought it would be a lot more saltier, but it’s not more saltier I thought it would be.

We also offer a wide variety of freeze-dried meat, only items from both Mountain House and gourmet reserves, including diced beef, diced, chicken gulf shrimp, ground beef, turkey and also a couple of items that are in limited supply, including uncooked, pork chops, whole and uncooked pork chop pieces. You.

Hey YouTube, it is easy. Prepper, 101 and today we’re gonna, be kind of starting a new series of doing a taste testing of a lot of the freeze-dried foods that you can get at some of the stores like Walmart or Meijer, Bass, Pro, Cabela’s and stuff, like that. You know stuff that you maybe want to put in your bug out bag or, if you’re, going on a hiking trip or if you just are prepping for a rainy day or if you’re kind of what happened to me a few years ago, when the algae bloom happened, when all the food went bye-bye in the grocery store, every all the freezer items, all the canned foods all the stuff, and even these types of packaged foods was gone.

So what I kind of want to do is this kind of start, a series of doing a lot of taste s of these types of foods and other foods of other brands out there to kind of say, do I like it? Is it something that I want to have in my storage or in my backpack too many times, I talk with other people who are going camping and they just buy some this because they think they’re gonna like it and they don’t do their research to say: hey, I, really don’t like this and then actually knows they’re starving.

So my goal is trying to help those people out there that, maybe are just are beginning to be new to prepping or new, to camping and they’re. Just trying to go easy and get these mountain houses. There’s tons of other brands out there that you can get. But what we have here is – freeze, dried rice and chicken, and this is one serving I picked this up at Walmart for four dollars and 48 cents, which is not that bad of a price now granted the bigger pouches are a little bit more.

But do your homework on what it’s a good price to? You know where it sets there’s some of the bigger pouches that Walmart carries that’s a little bit cheaper versus of. If you go to Meijer I think it was almost a dollar difference from the two serving pack versus the one serving pack. The two serving pack at Meijer was like almost nine bucks and I think at Walmart. It was well under 8 bucks. So definitely do your homework. Do your research, especially if you’re out shopping, one real, quick.

Just? Can they kind of flip this over just to give you some of the nutritional facts here as we’ll push this there? As you can see, calories is one pack 270 10 grams of fat, sodium of 750 carbohydrates is 41 grams and only six yeah six grams of protein and the directions to cook. This is very simple, as you can see open the packet tear a notch, remove the oxygen absorber carefully, add 2/3 cups of boiling water stir carefully, and this is optional and you can stir it after four minutes and then let it let stand for eight to nine minutes, while keeping the pouch upright.

So what we’re gonna do right now is we’re gonna put some water in the microwave to get it boiling, then we’re gonna add it so be right. Back all right! I have my measuring cup right here. I already got two-thirds of water. This is ready to go. I have one spoon to stir this up so now where it is we’re going to crack this open. There’s a tear right there, pop it open right on top is the oxygen absorber. So now pretty much I’ve got the water in there, stirring it up and right now, just from the initial actually smells pretty good.

Now, I’m stirring this very carefully. Sorry I probably got my hand in that. Sorry about that, but that’s what it looks like right now with that two-thirds water, not much water, so now we’re just gonna seal this up and then we’re gonna. Let this sit for four minutes and then we’re gonna stir it and then we’re gonna wait. Another four minutes and it should be ready to eat, come back to you in four minutes, all right guys. We just hit the four minute mark.

We are actually going to do the optional of stirring it, and this time we have to try not to get my hand as you can see the rice in there pretty good, just to kind of stir this pretty much at this point right now, I’m gonna, try to get some of this rice off is at this point at the 4-minute mark, all the water has been absorbed up into the rice. So now pretty much. We have another four minutes. We got my timer here then we’re going to go and we’re gonna come back after this four myths.

That will be the total eight to nine minutes, and we will give you a taste test of how what do I think of the freeze-dried rice and chicken all right guys. We just come back from the last four minutes, so this is ready to eat. It actually smells really good. So we’re gonna do a taste test right here. I’m not gonna, show me stuff in my mouth with this, but let’s see how this tastes actually not bad. Actually like this one, we’re gonna put this for you.

What do I think of it? I’m gonna dump this out, so you guys can kind of see exactly you see. The bag is empty, and this is what you get. You know it’s it’s not much, but it’s one serving so this is kind would be kind of like your lunch, especially if you’re camping or, if you’re doing a day hike. You know something quick and easy. If you’re going to be expending like a lot of calories, then you maybe want to get the pouches that maybe has two servings, especially if you know you’re gonna need it depending on your if you’re hiking, if it’s, if the terrain it’s gonna, be rugged, but if you’re gonna be camping and just hanging out and you’re just trying to make your life easy and packing and you’re just gonna go to the store, buy a whole bunch of these.

This was definitely would be a good idea, so that’s gonna, be it for this video. Definitely for me, what I’m gonna be doing is I’m gonna, be keeping a log of what mountain house foods, the foods that I like and some of the other brands. So when I’m prepping, to put these in my bug-out bag or in my storage on my shelves, gonna have the foods that I’m gonna like so definitely the the rice and chicken is definitely a good one to have in my book.

So that is gonna, be it for this video. Please write any comments down below if you’ve actually have tried the rice and chicken to. Let me know if you guys liked it hit the thumbs up. If you liked the video, if you have it, please hit the subscribe subscribe button. Thank you guys so much and we will catch you guys down the road you.

Hi guys I want to tell you about some exciting news and we’re going to be mountain house food, and these two items are actually prototypes that are going to be available in pouches next year, but we’ve got to try them about two months ago and we were sworn to secrecy until September, which brings up the other thing that I wanted to mention to you. So the two items that we’re gonna try in this video are the Italian style, pepper steak and we’re also gonna try the chicken fried rice, now they’re available right now in number 10 cans and it’s a limited production run that they’re only doing for September, which is National Preparedness month.

But the exciting news is: there are five other new items available in number ten cans as well, and we’ve got all seven in stock right now and we have them on sale so anyway check that out on the website. Now, in addition to those two items we have available in number ten cans plain scrambled eggs that are precooked they’ve, also packaged the apple crisp, which has only been available in a pouch up until now, and then the fire roasted vegetables that we’ve already done a taste test, video on- and there are two other items that they’ve brought back, and it includes the oriental vegetables with chicken and rice and they’ve also brought back one of my all-time favorites, which is the seafood chowder so get that chowder.

While we’ve got it because they’re not going to be making it other than this special limited production run. Okay, now we’re gonna get to this video taste test again we’re doing the Italian style, pepper steak and also the chicken fried rice, hello. Everybody we’re here today to talk about some new mountain house items that are gonna, be coming up with the lease representative from Oregon freeze-dried, the manufacturers of mountain house and she’s here to tell us a little bit about what we have to look for in 2015.

We have two new entrees that are very exciting. For us. We have an italian-style pepper steak with rice and also a chicken fried rice which was developed to be authentic in Japanese culture, so we hope that you guys enjoy it, and that brings an authentic flavor to your entree selection. That smells amazing. I just want to study deep it like this, but I’m gonna be polite and professional I’m actually get a sample.

Oh look at that this was mine. Well, there’s plenty of strips of beef to go around. This was developed in our research and development kitchen, and we started going down the road of looking for something that people would enjoy in a food service type area, but this was so good that we just had to put it into the mountain house line. So red peppers. Look at this strips rice and a red tomato sauce, yeah.

Okay, we need to start with Jen if it doesn’t pass the test. I, don’t think I’ll be going to the garbage today. I, really like this one mmm, the pepper, isn’t overpowering big chunks of beef strip. It’s all the flavors just really go good together. This is something you would think. Mom made I like this one, so I’m gonna shut up and finishing in my sample John all right me: okay, it’s good, looking, look how colorful that is! Yeah yeah and that’s one of the things that I actually sometimes notice with foods like these with packaged foods, is if it comes out, and it’s colorful every item in here is the color it’s supposed to be.

It didn’t all just kind of all like you’ve mixed the watercolor paints into one thing. So that is a to me. That means something it’s a pleasure and it’s also an indication. It’s probably gonna taste, good mmm. Oh that’s really good! Let me taste the UM, the beef just kind of by itself, hmm and that constituted really well. It’s tender mm-hmm very high rating here I won’t get on that with John of East namaha snakes away.

When I grew up on very good, very good. Well, I’ve been savoring. The aroma you Snuka taste, no I did yes, I did I, did not okay, oh wow, epaulettes, very well together and I’m, not a pepper fan! Green peppers are not on my list red peppers. I can do, but this this is actually really good, and it’s almost like there’s yellow peppers in here -, that’s a little sweetness this. This beef is super tender.

It had a teriyaki overtone in the in the aroma, but it’s definitely the flavor is not teriyaki. It’s tomato II found the balsamic vinegar it’s. This is awesome. This is gonna, be a good seller. We’re pretty proud of this item and the we think across the board. It’s gonna be a popular item that everybody will enjoy. The beef is excellent and I would almost recommend that they make this beef available in a separate package in a can or a pouch, or something because this is really really good.

This is very tasty. I’m thrilled with this one and I agree. I think this is gonna, sell really well as soon as people get a chance to try it way to go. That’s a good one yeah. This is the best of all. The meats really is I think this is the best of all the meats that I’ve ever tasted in any freeze-dried food items, marinated or anything. I believe that the pepper steak is it’s seasoned beef in a pepper steak, sauce marinated prior to I’m, not positive on that cuz I didn’t do the development, but I think that what they did there, because the beef does really have that it’s got a great texture, really good texture! That’s a winner! That’s that’s a winner thumbs up for me.

I’ll give this one uh, probably nine! Oh I’m, right there, winner, where beef steak dinner yeah it’s this and beef stroganoff. Those are the two big guns from Mountain House yeah I also want to point something out. What I like to taste is is any long any um, long shelf-life, food item if it needs salt, that’s a good sign, because a lot of people are concerned about sodium levels and food.

That’s designed to last on the Shelf is always so salty. So when I taste, something that could actually I could add salt to my own taste later, that’s a really good sign. So this is one of those items. If I had lemon pepper on the table at my campsite I’ve just out a little bit, so that’s important. The the flavor and the spices in here are not necessarily the salty leanings, more peppery and tangy, so this is really exciting, because this is a for real test version.

This is not a product that you can buy yet so we’re gonna try this out the whole crews. Here, like usual, and let’s, let’s see what that tastes like I love this one. This is my favorite of our new items. It’s really good, so good, so good and here’s Jen first taste, that’s really good! That’s really, then, and John. Why don’t you go ahead? – I’m gonna have a mushroom in my first buy I’ve got to think for a while.

Okay, let’s move along Janet. This is what I noticed. Um I think the packaging, since this is a test package, I think you might have put a little bit too much water in here. The flavor is not as it’s not as flavorful as most mountain house. Entrees are me personally. If you know it, I think everything is rehydrated very well. Um I just think it’s a little bit too much water, which kind of broke down the flavor profile.

Just a little bit, no, the other good, the other one that we just did was one in 3/4 cup of water and Jen. What did you say this one said on the packaging on the back now? This, of course, is one of the test packages so put the test on there in the label here. So maybe this one foster one in three quarters I’m with you, but you can tell there’s flavor I’m done it’s good. It is good.

Mm-Hmm I think that this may be a flawed taste test, because I think we reconstituted with too much water and so there’s something about the rice that just maybe a little bit yeah. You still gotta cook it right. There’s one thing about this: there’s egg in this in this fried rice and a lot of people, some people really don’t care for egg I. Do I like egg in my um stir fries. So this is tasty.

I’m gonna, give it a positive thumbs up, but I’m not exactly sure what I’m tasting here. Cuz we used way too much. It does look like we put too much water in here and, like I said it’s probably the marking on this test package here, because I want to show you how much extra water there was and part of the problem here is that water also has some of the flavor. That’s where all the flavor is.

That’s, where the flavors John do you want to drink it? There we’ll talk about some, so we want to thank you for dropping by and bringing the goodies for us. My pleasure, of course, then send us another package. Yes, yes, in fact, I’ll bring you another package that we can taste it together again and see thanks Elise thank you and for the epicenter calm, I’m epicenter Brian’s signing out.
