Hi I’m Roy fudge with shoreline marine products I’ve been a certified marine mechanic for over 25 years and I’m. Here today, as Captain weekend today, I’m going to share a variety of easy boating projects that you can do yourself with the common tools that you’ve probably got in your toolbox. Right now, I’ll be by your side every step of the way and together we’ll install a variety of top quality shoreline marine products to get you back on the water faster. So let’s get going grab your tools and I’ll share my tips and tricks.
So you can easily install those new hot shoreline accessory and replacement parts and be your own captain weekend you hey it’s Lloyd Captain weekend with shoreline marine products, thought I’d organize my boat. A little bit have something to hang my rods in when I’m out going to my fishing hole. Looked around see what all the products we had. We’ve got. A three rod holder have a side mount or rail, mount single rod, holder or a flush mount rod holder, trying to decide what I wanted figured I’d go with a three rod holder because I never go out with less than three or four rods.
Anyhow, nice thing about this got the three rods, of course, but it’s also got places for my fillet knife and bait knife got places for my pliers. I can hang my lures or hooks off of it. Won’t have to worry about stepping on a hook or a knife flying out while I’m running around. It’s all going to be mounted nice and easy figured out a mountain here, checking behind to make sure that I’ve got clearance because I’m going to through bolt this on so I, don’t have to worry about screws ripping out we’ll be ready to go okay, ready to install got the tools that I need drill, 3/16 drill bit my drill gun with a Phillips head tip in it or a Phillips screwdriver 3/8 wrench, and my goop nice thing about this.
It all comes with stainless steel hardware so that I don’t have to go to the store, buy anything a little tip here. Instead of trying to find a marker to mark all my holes where I want to drill or anything like that, I can take my drill bit. Just barely put it into my drill, set where I want to put my rod holders I can take and just mark a little bit set it out. Drill on through then take one of my screws put in the hole get it started so now, I know where my rod holders are going to go. Lined it up make sure it’s all nice and level go to the other side mark it.
What holders off drill on through put my screws in it get in there there we go my screws in got my top to set up ready to go tap. My other two holes, pull everything off drill them out plan all my fiberglass dust off so that my sealant has a nice place to see you put my other two screws in here. Take my ceiling spread it around my holes, I use the sealant, make sure I don’t get any water in if I’ve got a wood, deck or foam core back there, don’t have to worry about getting water in there where the wood will rot or the foam will get absorbed with water, causing the delamination of the fiberglass off of it.
Stick my screws back in everything lines up nice and neat ready to put my nuts on the back of it and I’m ready to go. Ten minutes tops we’re done one last thing: we have to do put our two screws in our Center rod holder, so we don’t have them falling out or if you happen to have a couple extra screws, you can always run it all the way down through where you through bolted, the rest of the rod holder after that put a rods in our lures. Our pliers. We’re ready to go to you. You.
By lady bee with the National Motor Club drive, protected, drive with the Motor Club and by donations from viewers like you, infantry outdoors is proudly partnered with the National Parks Conservation Association, preserving our national parks for the future and aquanauts adaptive aquatics everybody, and welcome to this product review and infantry’ outdoors on DJ infantry. Today, we’re going to be taking a look at a big common problem that a lot of us have and that’s well room in the vehicle today, I’ve found a product that I think is going to help out a lot.
I found out about Pro Shops, be honest with you. It is the rod, saver rod, vehicle rod, carrier system, so we’re gonna put this in today, test it out and see if it works and see. If we can help out I mean if you guys see behind me much rug from the b-roll I carry a lot of rods in the truck I leave them in the truck, and that’s just how we do things. So this is gonna be able to secure some of those rods to the roof of my truck now.
Hopefully, it’ll work I’m, not sure we’re gonna find out and we’ll see how many rods it holds. According to this, it holds up to seven rods. So even if I get seven rods across the back of this that’ll, be great that’ll, be more room for the truck, so stay tuned. Thanks for watching and don’t forget, if you guys, like this kind of stuff hit, the like button, don’t forget to subscribe.
If you are subscribed, stay subscribed and, like I, said, I’ll link all of the information for the rod, saver, car rod, holder system down in the description below, so that you guys would be able to click on it, and if you want to get it for yourself, you know different sizes for different vehicles, so this will be able to take care of whatever size. You need again, I’ll link it in the description below.
But let’s get started, let’s see what’s in the package: okay! Well, we have so far right out of the package. Here is a strap with loops in it. So there’s your seven rods and then this is going to attach to my vehicle via these little tabs, and these little tabs are gonna connect into what I believe will be your luggage bar hooks lettuce. It like this and then the other set I, don’t really know where we’re gonna put them but I believe it there’s.
Two of these. This looks like it might be for the back, and then you just stretch them out tighten them out first tight as you need to be so sue these in the package along with some screws. Now these screws, you’re gonna, replace your existing screws that are currently in your your holders and that’s gonna, make it able to you, know, obviously hold the rod holder as well. So let’s get into this, let’s see what we’re gonna do.
It looks like just a Phillips head screw, simple, easy, but now on my truck I, don’t have luggage holders to the front, so I’m curious to know how I’m gonna mount this. So, let’s take a look, alright, everybody! So what I had to do was I screwed this in put the screws that they provided, and it’s just clips right onto that little loop and you’re running across just like that over to the other side.
Now, if you can on your vehicle, if you can remove this, you can change the screw out and hook this to where you’d screw the simple mine is covered in plastic, so I didn’t have that option, I just screw it in right. Next to it focus focus, focus there you go and that’s how I did it and that’s how I’m gonna do the front -. So let’s put that in get some rods on and see what happens and here’s we reattach to the front okay, so here’s the finished product strung across now.
The one thing that it does concern me is the amount of sag that is real hard to like I, can’t really pull on these screws, because you’re only screwing into you know essentially cardboard so I’m even concerned of whether or not they’re, gonna hold and rip out. I might have to find a different anchor point in the future or find a way to get that middle part attached up here somewhere to hold help hold the weight, but that’s what it is guys that is the rod saver car rod, holder, all right, everybody! Well, there you have it.
We installed the rod saver car care rot. What is it called? The rod carrier for your vehicle holds up to seven rods. It comes with four screws. It’s fairly simple to install now. The only downsides I do see to this like I said before, is: are these screws gonna hold in the material? The granite they’re like this long, but you’re, essentially screwing in the cardboard so time will tell I made you some alterations to this later down the road to try to support the weight more in the middle.
So it’s not bowing. So much, but this is what I’ve come up with a pretty cool idea. What I may do is just get some more screws and go along the hole strapped to the roof, so it sits up on the roof. Okay guys. So, as I said, I had to do a minor modification to this install if you’re like me- and you don’t have places to mount to and you’re screwing into, essentially what’s really thin cardboard.
That’s what most of these roof liners are. What I ended up doing was getting a plastic lag bolt like this, and you basically make your whole I. Did it with a screwdriver I, just poked the screwdriver through wiggle it a little bit. You squeeze the shove that in there and that’s gonna, open and lock just like this, so that your screw has something to bite into because over time with the weight pulling down on your roof, it would just pull the screws right out and that’s what I was finding out it’s what I thought was gonna happen.
So if you’re like me- and you got nothing to screw around to get these leg bolts now, I also attach extra leg bolts because it did sag like we were talking about earlier and I didn’t like that. So what I did is I put three extras in the two on the sides that came with I put one in the center and one on the ends and we’ll take a look. I’ll show you guys right here how it looks so that you can see the difference between a bowing in the middle, the way that it is now for now, I mean it’s a pretty cool product, as you guys see, I cleared a lot of room.
I, put seven rods up on the roof that we’re sitting over here in the corner, just a better way to store your rods, and now, like I, said, I will link this product down in the description below. If you guys want to get it, you can get it through our one of our affiliate links, click on it and it’ll. Take you right there guys, as is all of the equipment we use in all of our videos, and especially here on our product reviews, so for another great product review on DJ infantry thanks for watching infantry outdoors.
We hope this inspires you to get outdoors. We’ll see you next time. You.
This Scott Thomas the cast King. We have show you guys. This is our V 15 vertical rod, rack and it’s got a lot of cool features that allow you to store up to 15 rods and combos in only 18 inches of wall space, so tremendous amount of storage and will help you manage your rods and combos very efficiently. So there are two key features to the V 15 vertical rod: rack that really help it make efficient use of space on your walls. So the first is a thermal plastic polymer that we use along the different V grooves here all the way along it, and that material is very soft.
So it grabs the rods the blank of the rods and holds the rod or a combo in place, and then the other one is the size of the grooves. We’ve got two different sizes of V grooves, so this rod rook will hold up to a half inch diameter blank and simply pull it out and push it back in to store the rods. So you grab it here to pull it out. If you want to store it, you push it back in until it grabs and you’re ready to go so the reason we can get so many rods and combos in such a short amount of space it because of the design it allows us to vary the height of the rods, so the reels don’t hit each other.
So you can see right here. We’ve got some reels that are high some wheels that are low, so it allows us to offset those handles and you can stick more rods in between or more combos in between to be very efficient with the amount of space you’re using for your rods. If you a lot of rods and combos like I, do you need to get yourself? A cast? Came v15 vertical rod, rack, it’s easy to install it’s easy to use and it’s very efficient with storing your rods and combos in a real small amount of space, so go check it out.
Hey guys welcome to another episode of fishing with big d today I have a another product review for you guys. This is going to be the cast king, 15 rod and combo rack system vertical rack system that these guys are producing and they’re selling, and you can get it on amazon I’ll have the link down below. If you want to check this out, if you’re anything like me when it comes to your fishing gear, I have tons of fishing poles rods and reels.
Combos fishing nets tackle gear hats, you name it over the years. I’ve collected a lot of stuff, especially since I’ve been youtubing back and forth on this channel with you guys, I’ve had so much fun doing it, but over the time I’ve collected a ton of stuff and my wife’s really starting to hound me into getting it all organized neat and in place where I can use it like. I should be so that’s kind of what I’ve been working on these last few weeks, I’ve been putting together a fishing office.
That way, I can do my videos in peace and be able to produce stuff just for use guys, but a part of that system. I realized that I had way too many fishing rods and fishing reels so ended up going online, and I got to looking and researching and one item that come up quite often in my searches was the kastking rack system, this thing’s really awesome and neat, and it’s not expensive at all. I think I gave 30 bucks for this two pack set that way I should be able to hold 15 to 30 rods.
This is a wall mount system. You will be drilling into your wall um. Let me just go over some of the information on the back here. First of all, it states that you will use screws that are provided to mount to your wall system. You will be mounting holes 16 inches on center, which is a us most. U s. Home construction guidelines require that, so you shouldn’t run into any issues there and then it’s lightweight durable.
It is made of abs materials. This is co-injected tpr, which is over a molded material. That grabs and holds your rods and combos. This will keep them stored in a vertical, upright position. Also they boast that they have a narrow but wide v. Grooves that hold up to inch and a half. No excuse me, one half an inch diameter rod. So if you got even your pretty large rods such as your catfishing rods and stuff, they should still be able to meet this requirement that they put in here, and I can’t wait to try it out guys, but it also states that the rods and combos can be stored at various heights to allow up to 15 rods or combos to be stored in less than 17 25 inches of the room.
That is a very, very, very compact position. I can’t wait to see how this works. I’m hoping that the issues that you mainly see with any of the other products on the market is that all of the rods are pretty much contained in the same height and position. So when you get down to the base, all your reels tend to smack each other and get tangled up. That’s an issue that I’ve seen this claims that it addresses that to where you can adjust the heights so that you’re not going to have those issues.
That’s one of the main reasons I picked this and it had over a thousand sales and reviews, the majority of which all were over four star and a five-star system. So let’s dig in and see what it looks like guys. Once again, like I stated you’ll be able to find these on the amazon marketplace. I have a link down below. If you want to help the channel out, you can click that link and purchase these it’ll. Take you directly to the item and you’ll be able to see exactly what I paid for all right.
So first up you’ve got your hardware looks like four standard will look to be stainless screws and then you’ve got some wall anchors here. That will help you with the weight and then, of course, we’ve got our two-pack system here. I ended up buying the two pack, because I have so many rods and reels. Let me open this up, for you guys all right check that out guys. This is what it’s gonna look like: it’s got the name brand on there.
This feels like a high quality plastic. It’s very, very durable. I don’t have a whole lot of bend in it. Lets me know that it’s going to be tough and strong check out that molded v-shapes. You see those that’s what’s going to hold on to your rod and keep it in a safe position, so you can store your poles in a vertical position. It’s really neat and the material is a little bit flexible. It feels like not a whole lot, so it’s pretty sturdy, but I think that that’s going to work out very well like I said I bought the two pack and it comes with the hardware and then you’ve got a little instruction booklet here.
That will explain how to measure up and do what you need for the installation. That’s what we’ll be doing next guys, I’m gonna, go get me a screwdriver or drill, and I’m gonna get me a little level so that we can make sure that these are nice and level when we place them on the walls and I’m gonna get all that stuff set up so stay tuned. All right guys. Let me show you with the mess that I’m dealing with and show you why I bought these rack systems because I am swimming in fishing gear.
As you can see, I’ve got a ton of fishing poles in every corner. I’ve got that beautiful bass, pro rack that I bought, but it just wasn’t enough. So that’s why I have this over here. I like to get some more light a little bit hard to see in here. This is the office I’m working on, but there you have it this little corner here, I’m gonna make a rod, rack, storage corner. I took a torpedo level and I’ve got that leveled out and it’s just three screws.
This is into paneling, so I had to find the studs and mark it out just right, but if you were to do it on a standard wall, you will use the drywall anchors so pretty simple process level it out see where you want it, mark the holes pre-drill and then run the screws. It’s that simple guys all right guys. We’ve got both mounting. It took me about 20 minutes, because I wanted to be real, precise and measure out so that they both pretty much lined up equally the same, and this is the finished product you’ll just take your fishing poles like, so you can do them at different heights, as you can see here that way, they’re not going to conflict with each other at the bottom there, how I got different hanging hogs and it still ended up working out well, now check it out.
It’s very handy. It’s going to help me to cover all my bases and be allowed to store that much more rods. Like I said the issue with the standard types, the bases are so close together your reels kind of bunch up and get tangled up, but with this system you can adjust the heights and you won’t have that problem. Personally. It took me about, like I said, 20 minutes to install installations breeze. You just need a hammer drill bit the provided hardware, a level some elbow grease.
It did take two people, one person to hold it, while the other one placed the markers and the screws, but you might be able to do it better than me with one person. But overall my satisfaction is pretty high. Uh, hopefully we’ll revisit this another day, maybe a year later, and see how well it’s still holding up, but I would still give this right now, a five-star rating like the rest of the people. That saw because it looks like a very good product.
Remember guys. If you want me to hurt you society, you can get it through. The link below in my description really helps my channel out. I put out a lot of videos like this and many other items that I like to review, mainly just fishing gear and we’re fishing orientated, and that’s it guys. Y’all have a good you.
