There is a great problem when you are: it needs to be small enough, but big enough for the fish you plan to catch in the attached photo. There are northern pike in those waters that fight you and need enough room to land in while not killing themselves. For such aggressive looking fish, they sure are fragile. I am pleased with this net. It’s fairly lightweight, I packed it on top of a duffel bag. I had and it fit perfectly. Then I moved it to the kayak and left it with the watercraft for the rest of the trip until it was time to pack up, as you can see in the photo, I just tucked it under the deck lines and grabbed it when it was time to land the fish.

I also used the hanley clip that it comes with to make sure that if it goes over or more likely, I do it’ll stay with the kayak and my investment will be safe. I love the rubber netting too. It helps lures to not get too tangled or pierce the stupid netting. I am looking at you woven nets and it keeps things pretty clean, easy on the fish easy to handle and easy to maintain. I bought this net for freshwater fishing, specifically bass fishing. The retractable handle definitely saves space in my small open hall vessel.

The net itself feels sturdy and ready to land fish. I went with the 56 inch total length since I have the room in my boat and I fish standing up. Only the net opening and depth is plenty. A five plus pound base would easily and safely get into the net. My only complaint is that the actual plastic rubber net catches the retractable, handle to and fro, but that is minor and the net is thick a nice net that will serve my needs. Super cheap, seems well made good for stationary fishing. Kinda shirt for trolling, simple net should last a while the quality and price are unmatched. As far as I am concerned, I’ve used this several times already to net fish this year, and I am glad I had it. The size is a little daunting at first, but if you’re like me, you’ll soon realize that anything, smaller just wouldn’t do cuz y’all know I catch big fish, I needed a net and after searching I chose this net due to previous reviews.

After about a month and 20 to 30 uses, I decided to share my experience here. I have netted and brought in striper and cats up to 25 pounds using the handle no problems. Last night june 20th, I finally got to test the net with a 40 pounds: blue cat here in north carolina. My friend was netting for me and once in the net brought it to the boat, neither of us thought we could get the cat in using the handle. So we grabbed the edges and hauled it over the side of the skiff the net held.

We had both thought the 35 inches cat wouldn’t fit in the net at first and it did then it held as we brought it into the boat plus the benefit of the rubber netting, so that hooks do not catch as a bonus. Much bigger of a fish. I would have used a gaff, but I wanted to test the net for when I am fishing alone, buy this it’s durable and worth it. If the net broke on the 40 pounds cat, I would have bought another one. This morning, high quality net gets the job done, look no further for an affordable, high quality net thick rubber, large net right size handle rubber, soft and strong, would recommend and buy again.

This is a great fishing net. I got it because I often fish from a deep v boat and need some extra reach.
