In the rest of the body and ours you can. See the mountain hardwear right there. The insignia right they got to love that both and so tough i love it loves that. The cuffs are nice and tight they’re not loose again outerwear jacket. Manufacturers please pay. Attention to the cuffs please make them. Tight it’s the most annoying thing when. You have a great piece of outerwear and the cuffs are loose. Of the sleep. So again we’re here with the core strata this is the out my mouth hardened we are don’t. Be confused they have a regular it’s. Still, synthetic north face tearing. Synthetic insulation is becoming more prevalent in the game now it allows you. To make a very warm piece of warmth that. Just gonna wear a base layer with it then you know I’m fine but usually these. Types of jackets are like to wear there maybe if I’m going to work or maybe a button-down shirt or if i want to put a. Thicker pullover fleece on underneath to. The thermal mid layer underneath it. Might be a little tight so my own hard way i would say please if you could make. The next iterations of these a little bit more room I’d appreciated. Look at the jacket we have two hand-warmer pockets at the side very. Nice. Very nice lining on the inside the. Zippers are nice not as flowy as some. Other brands are terrence comes to mind. Is it versa to super just easy to open. And close if you do it with one hand so. Flowy and smooth and you have to napoleon chest pockets it which is very nice i. I love just pilots they’re very convenient you don’t have to open the tag enough to get two keys or money or. Anything they don’t like access to awesome right. You have ahem-hem loop here at the. Bottom we saw one sided so you can just pull it tightens up the whole thing and i really like i really like the. Jacket i love this blue and the fabric. Is very nice i mean they did non hard we. Did a very good job with the fabric it’s. Very soft it’s plushy. I’m very impressed with the field and. The craftsmanship of the jacket. This kind of shiny nylon overlaid. You know you’ll be the judge some people. May like it some people may not but i. Think it looks kind of cool right now. For the hood there is no adjustment here. On the sides of the face yet one adjustment is here on the back all right. One point adjustment which we’ve seen in. A lot of jackets that it’s great but i. Think mountain hardwear falls under the short heel with this reason why i say that this is because look at the sides. Here right this is open this is supposed. To be closed when i cinch down the hood. So when it’s cold and breathe me out. You’re gonna get tons of air just rushing down inside the jacket i kind of. Like the size of the jacket in the hood. Are going to be open i think they. Definitely redesigned this hood i want. To keep this jacket so much but this was. A no-go for me i could probably even live with loose cuffs but a hood that. Works properly all right. You know a rule of thumb a lot of yup you have a lot of jacket makers out here. A lot of people doing just excellent stuff a lot of people just doing kind of. Ok stuff with their outerwear but really. The deciding factor with a jack especially a technical outerwear piece is the hood is on point if the hood is. Just cinches down perfectly it’s no. Fuss at all then that’s gonna be a great. Jacket alright that’s like a rule of thumb jack it has a great hug the jacket. Is probably gonna be great at what it does also out here today. It’s like 28 degrees 30 degrees it’s. Could it’s chilly I’m pretty warm in this i wouldn’t recommend you wear it in very. Cold conditions like this but you know if you have a thermal under there a. Light fleece pullover a very thin fleece. To wear underneath it and you’re hell-bent on wearing this in that condition then you could probably get away but this would probably be suited i. Would say from anywhere to make 30s to. Mid 40s. I really like the jacket about i love it i love the feel i love the. Look it’s just the hood i can’t have an. Open hood that’s just a no-go for me so. I’m wearing the mountain hardwear men’s super choc stone hooded jacket this is a. Super lightweight soft shell jacket that. Has a lot of going on in a very small and. Streamlined package it is built with the. Double weave soft shell material and that is a blend of nylon and elastane. Materials so you’ve got durability you’ve got reliability it’s got wind and water resistant and it’s extremely. Stretchy which is something i really like about it this jacket would be great. For cooler weather adventures climbers. Hikers backpackers anybody who need a lightweight soft shell that’s going to move with them and not inhibit their movement so it’s a really nice material in that regard it does have a upf 50. Rating so for climbers high in the. Alpine it’s going to really help protect against that harsh uv light or those uv. Rays in that thinner air so it’s really. Great for those situations overall got some really cool things going on does have pockets pretty simple pockets to zip hand pockets down at the bottom they. Are soft lined with a mesh material so. You can open those for venting if you need to, but they do provide a little bit of comfort for your hands as well a little warm too for what they are and how light this jacket is you’ve also got. A chest pocket and that chest pocket is pretty sizable for some items there and it also doubles as a stow pocket so you. Can actually reverse the jacket on itself stuff it into that chest pocket. Throw it into your pack and you’re on your way packs down really small for what you’re getting and gives you some reliable performance there as well so you can have it with you at the ready the jacket. Does have a hood and it is a pretty low profile hood meant to go under a helmet. So it can give you that wind protection that water resistance above but still go. Under a climbing helmet if you’re using it that way so overall it’s got a pretty. Nice fit and feel to it up there is an elastic closure around the outside. So you’ve got a cinch there and it’s. Kind of just built-in always there but it’s going to be comfortable it’s going to protect you in those harsher environments the jackets not fully waterproof so keep that in mind but it will provide protection from a light rain there is a dwr finish. It is going to shed some of that light moisture but in a serious downpour or even just a heavier steadier rain you’ll. Want a full waterproof shell so keep that in mind with the super choc stone put a jacket there is some elastic. Around the cuffs and something i noticed around the cuffs that would be really great for climbers myself being a climber is that mountain hardwear kind. Of eliminates the stitching in the palm area just under the wrist and what i. Could see that being great for is just simply climbing because you’re going to be rubbing that portion of the jacket it’s inevitable but lacking that. Stitching there’s less of a chance that you’ll blow out those seams and kind of ruin the jacket in that area so just a smart little aesthetic tweak to. The jacket that makes it a lot more functional as well i am wearing a large. Right now and that’s normally what i wear and mountain hardwear gear and it is fitting appropriately it is considered a semi tailored fit or an. Athletic fit so it does come a little bit more snug I’m just i just have a. T-shirt on underneath so i definitely have room for a light fleece or a synthetic insulator but overall still provides great movement and mobility because of those stretch materials so. Hi this is craig geology with review of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket for pro like here calm i would put this jacket up against. The patagonia ultralight down hoody but. I like this jacket better for the following reasons number one it’s lighter weight and number two it uses a more intelligent or a higher performance. Baffle design than the ultralight down hoody from patagonia and it’s got a what. I feel is a better design around the. Neck area for a hooded jacket let’s tell you a little bit about this jacket comes in 7.9 ounces or 223. Grams I’m wearing a size medium the size. Large was cut a little big for me it’s filled with two point eight ounces of 850 fill power q shields a hydrophobic. Down q shield is similar to the sierra. Designs dry down they’ve talked about earlier it’s where they take each individual plume, and they treat the. Plume with a dwr durable water repellent. To make it hydrophobic so that the balloon or the plume can withstand the. Presence of moisture and not collapse you know down works by when it’s inside a baffle it’s the loft or the. Springiness of those individual down plumes that create the dead air space inside these baffles i haven’t played. Around a lot with the q shield so i look. Forward to testing that out a little bit more in the future and kind of validating just how well it works and. Some other things about this jacket it’s using their whisper or fabric which is a seven janiero by changing your fabric it’s a really lightweight fabric and. It’s kind of just a really nice hand — it’s very compressible the baffle design this is using about a 1.4 inch. One point three six inches sized baffle so. A good baffle it’s a uniform baffle. Versus some of the other products up here that are using these variegated. Baffle designs the draw cord it’s a very. Small draw cord in the waist but it does have a draw cord for the waste it’s a hidden draw cord it does have two. Zippered pockets on it. And what i like about this jacket is when you zip it all the way up it. Creates a nice tight fit around the neck helps seal off that neck area, and we. Noticed that when we’re looking at these jackets underneath the ar with the flir thermal imaging camera that this jacket. The hooded jacket sometimes when you zip them all the way up they still leave a bit of room around the neck and you can. See that the heat escaping through the neck on hooded jacket, so they all work. Pretty well once you put the hood up it’s when you just have them fully zipped up with the hood down that we can tell a difference so i really like this and it just uses a standard kind of. Stretch binding in the cuff but it’s a. Little bit loose fitting that’s the only thing i might say about this jacket is the cuff could fit a little bit. Tighter so that wraps up the review of. Adam here forget out their magazine today i am bringing you a comparative review of two down-filled jackets by mountain hardwear Over here we have the ghost whisperer down hooded jacket and on this side we have the stretch down rs hooded jacket let’s break down what it’s similar first. At first glance you think that these may be the same jacket both uses similar fabric the rs is slightly thicker fabric in the whisper but both are extremely thin and feel like they could rip easily. But let me tell you they’re surprisingly durable after extensive use i have yet. To fiber rip and either of these jackets now each has a drawstring waist and each. Has similar down fill and provides. Similar warmth 750 down fill for the rs. And 800 for the whisper both have mountain hardwear’s q shield down which is treated to be water repellent however both jackets soak throughout their two hours in a wet snowfall finally both. Have down-filled hoods which do not have draw strings, but they do stay on tight even in high winds and that’s really where the similarities end the whisper has an active fit which is. Really tight to the body where the rs of the performance fit which is more room through the waist shoulders and arms for reference I’m five-eleven 185 pounds in both jackets are size medium the whisper. Is the world’s lightest down hooded jacket well at least that’s what the mountain hardwear website says so don’t quote me on that but it is extremely light it only weighs in at 7.7 ounces. Where the rs is also very light but it’s. Almost double the weight at fourteen point nine ounces to keep the weight down the whisper has a minimalistic design and only two zippered hand pockets while the rs has two zippered. Hand pockets a zippered chest pocket in the internal mesh pockets the cuffs are. Both very different drs has a traditional small outer elastic while the whisper has a unique design with the down fill all the way to the end of the sleeve and it has a hidden elastic inside the cuff to keep it in place surprisingly i found this was much better to keep the cuff in place during activity than the rs cuff a neat feature of the ghost whisperer is its ability to be stored away in its own pocket it folds up to the size of a large water bottle which makes it super convenient on days when the temperature or your activity level maven the rs is a version of mountain hardwear’s new stretch down line and to. Be honest i didn’t find there to be much stretch in this fabric however i did find it to be pretty comfortable at the end of the day i found the stretch down rs jacket to be great for leisure activities like walking the dog and hiking as well as general wear around town i also have had many compliments on. The style of this jacket on the other hand the ghost whisperer jacket has not had any compliments for the look and that may be due to the color but it is a way better choice for someone who’s looking for a down-filled jacket to be active in i have found this also to be. Hi today i am reviewing the prana. Stretches ion convertible pants. I’ve had these pants i own two pairs of. These pants pair of these pants I’ve had the brown ones for about three and a. Half years now and i have a really good idea of what i like about them and what i wish it was slightly different so first of all i love the material it’s. Made out of this way it’s made out of. This like synthetic stretchy material. That’s similar to what they make those. Softshell fleece jackets out of but it’s just like the shell of those jackets and. So it has incredible flexibility i can. You know kick i can lift my knees it’s good for hiking up steep hills and hiking up stairs and steri trails and. It’s got incredible flexibility the you. Now it’s got plenty of room and you know to maneuver what else i like the. Fact that it’s got these big loops for. The belt you know so you can put. Basically any size belt that you would like and i don’t like this belt. Type of thing that they integrate into. The pants because when you tighten it. And you’re wearing it especially if you have anything heavy in the pockets it just tends to loosen up after a couple. Of minutes so it’s kind of worthless they need to put like a different kind. Of system to keep it so that actually holds in place the pockets are really. Nice in these front pockets they’re just. The right size they’re not too big that the stuff in your pockets is down to your knees and, but they’re not too small that things are falling out of your pockets the only thing i don’t like about them is that the material that they used to make them is, or they made it, and they construct something out of this like mesh material and so pretty quickly i wore holes in my pockets just from having my wallet and my phone in my pockets so that was kind. Of a bummer I’ve had to mend holes in my. Pockets so many times now on the pants that I’m wearing the back pockets are. Kind of useless i don’t know if they’re totally useless, but they’re pretty useless in that it isn’t kind anyway to. Like keep them closed so if i certainly. Would not put my wallet in there because i think it would just slip right out and fall out but I’m a wallet front pocket. Kind of guy anyway the side cargo. Pockets are really nice they have two zippers one that goes horizontally at the top and one that goes vertically at the front i guess that’s primarily for if you’re a rock climber and you’re wearing a harness i think it’s easier to access the vertical pocket but that’s. Just a speculation and the cut the cuts. On this on these pants are really nice i find out they fit incredibly well i wish they were slightly less baggy just. Because i feel like if I’m running and i got my phone and wallet in my front. Pockets that they’re kind of still flopping around and i think that if there is a slightly slimmer cut that. That you know that would solve that issue i like the fact that some people. Might not but i personally like the fact that they don’t have those vertical zippers on the bottoms at the cuffs so. That basically those zippers are you are often on hiking pants because people. Were Often gone hiking in boots and when people get too hot they like to remove. The pant legs as i do as well however you know and basically that verticals. That makes it easier to take it off of boots because boots have the lug soles. However i personally prefer wearing. Sandals or like running type of barefoot. Running shoes and i find that it’s easy. To slip the pant legs on and off you know right over those and the thing that. I specifically like about not that the. Fact that it doesn’t have those vertical zippers on the ankles that i can actually roll up the cuffs if. I need to which i always need to and. Especially if wearing like barefoot type. Of shoes that are uh you know you got a roll up that cuffs a little bit or I’ll still you know you’ll be stepping on them as you’re walking and you know with. If they had that vertical zipper you want to be able if you rolled it up it wouldn’t hold the roll it would just roll right back down and what oh sizing so basically. Typically, i wear size medium pants. Camping pants however the sizing on these prana’s are. Slightly different i find that i wear the way that they measure is the waist is small medium large extra-large. And i find that I’m a small in the waist. Size on these pants and then the length. Are you know 30 32 34 and i find that I’m. At 32 originally i got a 30 but those i think we’re slightly too short and I’m. 5/8 so that hopefully give you some kind. Of idea what to go for so 32 for a 5/8. I think that might be it i really love these pants they were 80 80 bucks i. Think and they’re excellent. Pants they’re a little bit they’re not. Ultralight they’re lightweight, but they’re not ultralight so if that’s something that you’re you know considering you know for backpacking then you know keep it in mind however i think that the durability that i get. From these is outweighs whatever. Slightly extra weight you know but. They’re excellent pants and thank you. For watching.

Hello everyone thank you for watching my name is galen swagger and today I’m gonna be reviewing the stretch die on pant from prana so recently in the hunting industry the few companies have started coming out with nylon pants which are four-way stretch and extremely durable mountaineering pants and hiking. Pants have been made of nylon for a really long time because it’s just tends to be a superior material and first. Slide obviously came out with their core good guy pants which have been extremely popular i owned a pair of those I’m. Gonna do a review on those a little bit later and then I’m also gonna compare them to the promised strips scions they’re both awesome pants the reason that i choose the parana over the first light i love first light as a company is you review all their stuff i love their products but the fit just wasn’t really good for me their pants tend to be on the baggy side, and they tend to run really big so starting off price these pants are run around eighty to eighty-five dollars but you can find great deals on amazon ebay forums like. Rock slyde often have them used for fifty sixty dollars which is an awesome deal for high quality nylon pants like these comparing that to a hunting companies pants it’s gonna be about half the price which is really a great deal if you don’t mind solid colors obviously they’re not hunting pants, so they’re not made in camouflage that’s something you’re gonna have to decide for me the camo pattern wasn’t worth paying double so i really enjoy these pants and you can get them in solid muted earth tones like browns and greens and stuff that are just great for hunting my first impression of these pants is that they were extremely comfortable very stretchy. The materials not quite as good as like the first light corrugate pants something about those pants is extremely. Soft and comfortable these aren’t quite as soft or quite as comfortable, or they’re not nearly as stretchy, but they’re super comfortable super functional they dry really quickly which is awesome, and they are dwr coated which is very important to me if I’m walking through wet grass or whatever in the morning i don’t have to worry about my pants getting soaked and being what the rest of the day so the coating is gonna help repel that water and if some does absorb into the pants it’s gonna dry really quickly which is awesome as far as the pockets. Go these pants do have one cargo pocket on the left leg it’s got a zipper on the. Side and the top which is really awesome i haven’t seen anything like that before and the zippers actually have a lock which is hard to explain but if you have the zipper like that folded down against the seam it’s not gonna move so it’s not gonna open accidentally you have to flip the zipper up and then the land zip which is really cool i thought that was an interesting feature at first i thought my zipper was broken but once i realized what it was for it was really easy to see that it’s just a safety feature so you can put your wallet in that pocket and you’re not gonna lose it which is really good stuff like a release a hunting license things you really don’t want to lose they’re gonna be safe in that pocket they don’t have one on the other side which is something i probably would change i like having two cargo pockets and then moving on to other pockets they have the standard hand pockets on each side, and they’ve got a rear pocket on each side so in total you’re gonna have five pockets on these pants just like the first like kanab pants that have a feature where you can roll the pants and then snap them into place these pants have a similar feature where you can roll it and snap it so if it’s really hot out you can roll them into like a three-quarter pant not quite as short but it’s gonna be a lot of cooler it’s gonna help heat escape you can also do that if you’re crossing a creek and you don’t want to get the bottom of your pants wet which is really convenient i don’t use it very often but when you do need it’s really good to have another unique feature about these pants that i really enjoyed was the built-in belt they have a built-in cinch that you can tighten down to get the waist fit perfectly without wearing belt or suspenders which is super cool for me. Because i always have issues i don’t like wearing a belt and suspenders are okay but when I’m wearing a backpack i don’t like the feeling of suspenders underneath my backpack strap so having that built-in belt is really awesome cuts down on weight and it’s just one less thing to worry about you don’t need to bring a belt into the field with you which is really great it does have belt loops so if you want to wear a belt you can but it’s not necessary on these pants so as i previously mentioned these pants are made of nylon which is a great material for pants it’s gonna be extremely durable flexible and stretchy and from what i understand nylon is a. Stronger material each fiber is stronger. So you’re not gonna need as much material which means you can weave it looser so even though it doesn’t breathe that quite as well or dry quite as quickly as polyester and other materials because you can use less material it’s gonna dry just as quickly and it’s gonna be more durable with less material as far as the company obviously piranha is a hiking company, so they’re not going to give money to conservation like first light and sick adu, but they do like my. Hi today i am reviewing the prana. Stretches ion convertible pants. I’ve had these pants i own two pairs of. These pants pair of these pants I’ve had the brown ones for about three and a. Half years now and i have a really good idea of what i like about them and what i wish it was slightly different so first of all i love the material it’s. Made out of this way it’s made out of. This like synthetic stretchy material. That’s similar to what they make those. Softshell fleece jackets out of but it’s just like the shell of those jackets and. So it has incredible flexibility i can. You know kick i can lift my knees it’s good for hiking up steep hills and hiking up stairs and steri trails and. It’s got incredible flexibility the you. Now it’s got plenty of room and you know to maneuver what else i like the. Fact that it’s got these big loops for. The belt you know so you can put. Basically any size belt that you would like and i don’t like this belt. Type of thing that they integrate into. The pants because when you tighten it. And you’re wearing it especially if you have anything heavy in the pockets it just tends to loosen up after a couple. Of minutes so it’s kind of worthless they need to put like a different kind. Of system to keep it so that actually holds in place the pockets are really. Nice in these front pockets they’re just. The right size they’re not too big that the stuff in your pockets is down to your knees and, but they’re not too small that things are falling out of your pockets the only thing i don’t like about them is that the material that they used to make them is, or they made it, and they construct something out of this like mesh material and so pretty quickly i wore holes in my pockets just from having my wallet and my phone in my pockets so that was kind. Of a bummer I’ve had to mend holes in my. Pockets so many times now on the pants that I’m wearing the back pockets are. Kind of useless i don’t know if they’re totally useless, but they’re pretty useless in that it isn’t kind anyway to. Like keep them closed so if i certainly. Would not put my wallet in there because i think it would just slip right out and fall out but I’m a wallet front pocket. Kind of guy anyway the side cargo. Pockets are really nice they have two zippers one that goes horizontally at the top and one that goes vertically at the front i guess that’s primarily for if you’re a rock climber and you’re wearing a harness i think it’s easier to access the vertical pocket but that’s. Just a speculation and the cut the cuts. On this on these pants are really nice i find out they fit incredibly well i wish they were slightly less baggy just. Because i feel like if I’m running and i got my phone and wallet in my front. Pockets that they’re kind of still flopping around and i think that if there is a slightly slimmer cut that. That you know that would solve that issue i like the fact that some people. Might not but i personally like the fact that they don’t have those vertical zippers on the bottoms at the cuffs so. That basically those zippers are you are often on hiking pants because people. Were Often gone hiking in boots and when people get too hot they like to remove. The pant legs as i do as well however you know and basically that verticals. That makes it easier to take it off of boots because boots have the lug soles. However i personally prefer wearing. Sandals or like running type of barefoot. Running shoes and i find that it’s easy. To slip the pant legs on and off you know right over those and the thing that. I specifically like about not that the. Fact that it doesn’t have those vertical zippers on the ankles that i can actually roll up the cuffs if. I need to which i always need to and. Especially if wearing like barefoot type. Of shoes that are uh you know you got a roll up that cuffs a little bit or I’ll still you know you’ll be stepping on them as you’re walking and you know with. If they had that vertical zipper you want to be able if you rolled it up it wouldn’t hold the roll it would just roll right back down and what oh sizing so basically. Typically, i wear size medium pants. Camping pants however the sizing on these prana’s are. Slightly different i find that i wear the way that they measure is the waist is small medium large extra-large. And i find that I’m a small in the waist. Size on these pants and then the length. Are you know 30 32 34 and i find that I’m. At 32 originally i got a 30 but those i think we’re slightly too short and I’m. 5/8 so that hopefully give you some kind. Of idea what to go for so 32 for a 5/8. I think that might be it i really love these pants they were 80 80 bucks i. Think and they’re excellent. Pants they’re a little bit they’re not. Ultralight they’re lightweight, but they’re not ultralight so if that’s something that you’re you know considering you know for backpacking then you know keep it in mind however i think that the durability that i get. From these is outweighs whatever. Slightly extra weight you know but. They’re excellent pants and thank you. For watching.

Hello everyone thank you for watching my name is galen swagger and today I’m gonna be reviewing the stretch die on pant from prana so recently in the hunting industry the few companies have started coming out with nylon pants which are four-way stretch and extremely durable mountaineering pants and hiking. Pants have been made of nylon for a really long time because it’s just tends to be a superior material and first. Slide obviously came out with their core good guy pants which have been extremely popular i owned a pair of those I’m. Gonna do a review on those a little bit later and then I’m also gonna compare them to the promised strips scions they’re both awesome pants the reason that i choose the parana over the first light i love first light as a company is you review all their stuff i love their products but the fit just wasn’t really good for me their pants tend to be on the baggy side, and they tend to run really big so starting off price these pants are run around eighty to eighty-five dollars but you can find great deals on amazon ebay forums like. Rock slyde often have them used for fifty sixty dollars which is an awesome deal for high quality nylon pants like these comparing that to a hunting companies pants it’s gonna be about half the price which is really a great deal if you don’t mind solid colors obviously they’re not hunting pants, so they’re not made in camouflage that’s something you’re gonna have to decide for me the camo pattern wasn’t worth paying double so i really enjoy these pants and you can get them in solid muted earth tones like browns and greens and stuff that are just great for hunting my first impression of these pants is that they were extremely comfortable very stretchy. The materials not quite as good as like the first light corrugate pants something about those pants is extremely. Soft and comfortable these aren’t quite as soft or quite as comfortable, or they’re not nearly as stretchy, but they’re super comfortable super functional they dry really quickly which is awesome, and they are dwr coated which is very important to me if I’m walking through wet grass or whatever in the morning i don’t have to worry about my pants getting soaked and being what the rest of the day so the coating is gonna help repel that water and if some does absorb into the pants it’s gonna dry really quickly which is awesome as far as the pockets. Go these pants do have one cargo pocket on the left leg it’s got a zipper on the. Comes in at 385 grams or 13.6 ounces it. Is super lightweight the outside fabric. Is a 100% nylon ripstop it’s super. Stretchy it forms with your body i can’t. Speak highly enough about this outer and inner fabric the outer fabric i believe. Is a 2010 year and the inside is 50 so. It has a little bit more of that smooth touch this is a synthetic jacket so the. Difference between synthetic and down you know is that down loses a lot of its. Insulation properties when wet this is not going to affect this jacket though because it’s a synthetic so i am 6-3 185. Pounds and this is a size large it fits. Terrific you know patagonia sometimes has a little bit of a sizing issue just and then i find that some of their clothing can be a little bit baggy r in. The waist area the top has a zipper garage so it stopped any chafing against your neck you have to external hand warmer pockets and to external chest. Pockets i love them both some of the cons about this jacket and there aren’t many is the cuffs as you can see when i. Hang my hand at my side there’s a little. Bit of bunching of the fabric at the cuffs now there is an update to this. Jacket that’s being released right now i think it got released like last month by patagonia it’s an update to the outer fabric it has this fabric sometimes. Gets a little pilly again i could not care less this is a phenomenal external fabric and then on the new cuffs what they’ve done is added sort of. More fitted cuff without this elastic. And piece here so for the pricing on this jacket it comes in and a whopping. $299 so it’s a lot of money you know and. With new york sales tax you know it’s. More than that so it’s an expensive jacket for sure you can get this current. On the past seasons past season product. Because of the update with the new one you can get this current jacket for one. Hey guys it’s jimmy today i’m going to be bringing you a comprehensive review of the nano air jacket by patagonia patagonia nano air is a synthetic active. Layer that remains relatively warm but keeps you incredibly dry and comfortable. As you can see this is the non hooded. Version although there is also a hooded. Version as well the synthetic jacket is made from patagonia’s full-range insulation which is comparable but not quite as warm as the primaloft gold inside patagonia’s nano puff jacket the. Full range insulation has two advantages over such synthetics as mechanical. Stretch and it is very breathable unlike the nano puff which performs best. As a mid layer the nano air excels as an active outer layer for cool temperatures this is primarily due to the breathability of this jacket which has an air permeability rating of 40 cfm which means 40 cubic feet of air can pass through a square foot of fabric according to the astm e 737 standard i. Read an independent test report that suggests this air permeability figure is upwards of 170 cfm regardless of the lab. Measured air permeability in practice. This jacket provides little wind resistance which can be a good or bad thing depending on the scenario for your. Education manufacturers will often use mbt r moisture vapor transmission rates. To describe the breathability of their waterproof breathable jackets so don’t. Get confused with that however the nano. That the arms are cut high so that the jacket doesn’t lip so much when i raise my arms i think climbers will really appreciate this. Number two comfort this is the most. Comfortable jacket i’ve ever worn the mechanical stretch is fantastic and gives me full range of motion and the breathability of the jacket helps keep me dry even when i do bursts of intense effort the only way that it could be more comfortable is if it weighs half as much number three build quality no. Stitches or seams have come undone yet after eight months of considerable wear which is a first for me i suspect that. The stretching helps disperse forces that would otherwise be concentrated at the seams number four compressibility. It’s not as good as a light high fill. Power down jacket as shown here which is my mountain hardwear it goes whisperer but it’s not bad i’ve always found a way. To stuff this into tight spaces when i don’t need it number five resistance to. Snagging i’ve bush blacked a fair amount. With this jacket and it has never once gotten caught on anything this was a big surprise me because the jacket fabric looks soft and very snag prone number. Six the elasticized cuff is very stretchy which is great when i’m wearing a big watch like my garmin phoenix 3 all. Right so now just a couple of things that i dislike about this jacket number. One is durability although the outer material manages to avoid snagging on anything it is starting to fill in some of the higher wear areas like the shoulders and waist you know areas that my backpack will rub against for the last eight months is good my go-to jacket for fall and winter backpacking trips and as a casual jacket in town i feel as though i’ve put the jacket through more and this time than the average person would also the jacket. Is pilling inside the hand pockets sometimes my fingers get a little dry around the fingernails and this catches on the soft fabric which is the same material as the inside lining number two. Is breathability breathability is a double-edged sword it’s great when you’re sweaty but when it’s very windy the breathability of this jacket may be undesirable in that scenario you’ll want to throw a windbreaker over this jacket i found that the nanowire jacket performs at its best in cold temperatures with low to moderate winds it’s hard to define an. Exact temperature range for this jacket but for me the nano air by itself was. Comfortable for about 40 fahrenheit down to 15 fahrenheit which is 5 celsius down to minus 10 celsius and this was during periods of moderate exertion based on this review. Of the nano air you may be wondering whether you could achieve similar performance with just a fleece or perhaps a fleas paired with a windbreaker i think you can but it will. Weigh a bit more on the plus side you get layering versatility out of the fleece and windbreaker combo and not to mention the assortment of fleeces and windbreakers available on the market. Sometimes you just need a single jacket. That does a bit of everything because it is the most comfortable active layer i’ve used to date i find myself reaching for the patagonia nano air before any other jacket my closet thanks for watching this review. Everybody can talk real quick about one. Of my favorite pieces of adventure clothing this is the patagonia nano air. Jacket so it’s nice and lightweight. Similar to any of their nano puffs if. You’ve had a nano puff before it’s. Synthetic insulation which is great it. Will hold its warmth when it gets wet if. It gets wet and the main difference. Between this and say regular nano puff. Jacket is it has a stretchable fabric so. You’ve got a lot more play in the theme. It actually moves there so you’re not as. Constricted and it has a very high. Readability rating it’s rated at 40. Cfm so maybe that’s cubic feet per meter. I’m not quite sure but it’s 60 grams per. Mole off insulation like most of their. Nano puff hoodies i like the ones. Without a hood super comfortable this is. A medium for size I’m about 510 and a. Half and 165 pounds a couple jat a. Couple pockets on the jacket you as well. Have a nice one up here it’s covered. With a dwr water-resistant spray and if. You’re wondering how functional that is I’ve had this coat for about a month and. You can actually just see it beat off so. I use this a lot for bike commuting and. Camping you get pretty warm when you’re. Biking but I’ve also noticed this holds. Heat really well i can usually wear if it’s anywhere from you know 20 to say 45. Degrees out i can wear just a nice capilene base layer and this and if i. Have a nice rain jacket that’s also breathable to block the wind then i find. This was plenty warm that’s the other difference with the breath ability of this versus say a nano puss it also looks a little bit more air. In but it’s also i mean they’re just fantastic it’s extremely lightweight they rate these at three hundred and. Fifty four grams which is about twelve and a half ounces and if you’re not. Familiar with patagonia they do a lot of web specials so i got this on sale i. Think for one hundred and forty dollars where msrp is two hundred and fifty the. Ones with the hoods are just a little bit more but my friend got his with a hood, and he got it for about the same price as me and you got a look patagonia. They are very sustainable company they. Actually encourage you to send your. Products back in if they need mending or fixing as opposed to just throwing them. Away they also as far as the company. They do a lot of work with other countries, and they’re all about fair. Wages and which is really good for. Developing countries so their products are made all over the world, and they stand behind their products 100 cent, and they also if you have to send a garment. In and they can’t fix it they’ll do something to compensate you and what they’ll do with that whole garment has turned it into something else so you can feel really good about paying a little bit of extra money for something that is probably going to last you 10 to 20. Years maybe your entire life depending on your activities and when you’re done you don’t have to worry about it end up in a landfill and you can probably get the newest cool thing just notice. These guys look like we have some. Inches for the bottom so if you want to. Stop the maybe you’re right it’s a. Little cold or you’re rock climbing you can finish up the bottoms only thing i. Do not like about this jacket is that it does not come with a stuffed pocket like some of the nano puffs so from what I’ve. Done before is I’ve brought in a little dry bag and I’ll just. Have out there mountain hardwear logo in it man and these are the ghost whisperer. Jackets now what they are they’re. Lightweight down jackets by lightweight. You wouldn’t believe me if i told you how light they are i know i’ve done. Videos on them before but this is a one. Year later update on the two non hooded. Jackets that we have this black one and. Then this green one now this one’s mine. Of course the black ones means guns knives and watches and i really like the green but. When i purchased these these things list. For $300 apiece for the non hooded and. Three hundred and fifty dollars a piece for the hood hood in my real-world. Estimation unless you’re going for a. Fashion statement that you’re just going to wear to school or something or da-da-da-da-da or to non there’s no need. In paying $350 you can buy these things. On closeout all the time from a hundred and thirty dollars for the non hooded. And about 140 to 150 dollars so i would. Go in somewhere in that price range a hundred and thirty to a hundred and fifty dollars apiece now you may not get. The the color you want you may not get. The size that you want but that’s just. The way it is i’ll give you an example of that you know i i didn’t my first. Inclination was not to purchase this and bright green jacket even though i really. Do like it now i would have much rather. Had something that’s a little more subdued like this one but for the price. I think i got this for a hundred and thirty dollars it’s really great of. Course these are down lightweight insulated layers can be exterior layers the one thing about this down is is treated with something that they’re marketing as cue. Shield right there and what that does is. That gives the down the ability to get. Wet and everything’s better when it’s. Wet maybe it really is things don’t get. Interesting till it starts raining you’re not training less it’s raining that’s just the way it works. So these hold some of their ability to. Have warmth even when wet when. Traditional that untreated down isn’t and that’s really the basis of my. Judging the honest to god value of these these items because there is a lot of. Sewing into in it each stitch there’s. Not a lot of treated down in it and if you can notice through this orange. Because it’s more of a translucent. Orange you can see some of the darker. Feathers possibly on camera showing. Through now let me see if i can make. That work probably not anyway it doesn’t matter but like i said missus guns. Knives and watch it’s got a small in this where she would normally wear an extra small it’s a little long in the sleeves but for the price you couldn’t couldn’t beat it and then of course i got this more whatever type of green. That it is but if i was gonna buy one my. Recommendation is that you go with the hood because there’s such a small. Difference between the cost of the two and people hike use these to hike the appalachian trail they use them out on hiking and they use them all kinds of different things and i carry believe it. Or not i carry a backpack all the time when i wear mine and there’s no real. Wear marks now this is a micro rip stop. And i can’t really show you that on. Camera because it seems is or maybe i. Can there’s a micro rip stop pattern. Man i don’t know that’s showing everyone. And it’s a very very high thread-count. Fabric which gives it the ability number. One your feathers aren’t going to poke through which in a lesser thread count of course they would and also you get. Basically a strength factor similar to. Silk okay where you don’t have you don’t. Have the big thread like you’re doing like kevlar or like no matte nomex or. Any of that other kind of crap no max it. For fire rating but spec tara whatever. You know you you get the gist of the idea so i would say these are really. Good codes highly recommend them via our favorites they’re extremely lightweight they’re extremely packable everything packs up in its own little pocket you can see. It’s got a double zipper on it and it. Just goes in relatively easy without. Much fuss without much this that or the other and just gonna eat your shelf. Liner but that’s basically what you’re. Left with and i’ll even go through the. Effort of zipping it even though i have. Found that with these compressible coats. And things like this you really need to. Pull the zipper together to zip it or. Else you basically wind up putting too much force on the zipper itself that’s. Pretty self-explanatory this isn’t rocket science or anything like that and. Me hugging a tripod right now anything exactly probably the best setup in the world. But let’s see if i can do it on camera it’s not real till it’s on film right. Anyway about size of my hand of course i. Got rather large size hands but it’s just the way it is well what else can i. Say. Told you the pricing told you this there or the other course at 300 and 350 and. If you’re going to use these things you’re whacked out of your gourd but. That you know they’re dumb people born. Every day this guy’s knives and watches and have a. Good one buy things when people don’t. Want them don’t buy them when they’re in high demand you know by last year’s. Color buy whatever just do it correctly one thing that i have noticed between. The generations of these two and. Probably i pulled the wrong one out the older ones had elastic on the edge elastic if it’s really good quality kind. Of a problem with the newer ones. Don’t they have a just a basic wear. Strip there which has very little flecks. In it i don’t know how that’s going to. Actually which one’s going to wear out first or give up its ghost first but. These are wearing well this gots knives. And watches peace out.
Right now I’m wearing the ghost whisperer down jacket and i love this thing. My favorite function of the ghost whisperer down jacket is its weight to. Warmth ratio it keeps you really warm. But it’s also extremely light and. Packable so you can pack it into a tight. Little ball fist size roughly clip it to. Your harness climb a pitch get to the belay be cold and bust out your ghost. Whisperer down jacket throw it on and be. Warm again it’s just so warm for how. Light and small it is its perfect.
Okay guys this is the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer down jacket down is a. 800 fill down i don’t actually have the. Gram weight of the down because the manufacturer didn’t provide that information 7 deniers by 10 denier ripstop nylon meaning i think it’s seven. In one direction int in another direction it does have a dwr finish like. The other jackets that we’ve discussed and also mountain hardwear I’m going a step further, and they have put a dwr treatment on the down itself inside the. Jacket they claim this down is more water resistance than standard down. There are lots of little cells, and they are totally closed off so you don’t have. That concern about having down migrate. Around between the down cells zipped all. The way up the color does stand up again we do have space zipping seems smooth no issues there. This cut is clearly a longer and thinner. More athletic cut than the boxiness of the mont beljac its turn here and give. You a view of the sides and back five. You again a view with the zipper down just so you get a feel for what that looks like this is a medium and on my. Frame i feel again this is too big too baggy a lot of folks like their jackets like this right they want to put a lot of layers underneath they like to have that roominess bagginess i like it a little bit more fitted again no hood on this cuff style. There’s no elastic in the cuff they have. What they call i think they called it a buttery lining it’s just sort of suede. Or soft lining a suede light probably. Not actually swayed it’s actually snug or even though it’s not elastic it actually sits around my hands making a better seal than the anorak and the plasma did. I think because it’s longer so it sits down on the wider meteor part of my hands and makes a seal this one is kind of. Interesting I’ll try and show you a close-up later it’s a single point. Although the court does go all the way. Around your body it’s a single pull. Hopefully you can see that and then the release is actually inside here and. Maybe we can get a close-up of that later but what you do is you just pinch. The release and then it comes undone no. Problem pockets now this is important to me this actually has two hand warming. Pockets okay big deep and warming pockets with a nice zipper on those. Which is something that we haven’t seen any other models fabric wise this. Actually feels a little shinier than the. Montville jackets I’m not so much into. The shininess but it’s not a problem is. Clearly less crinkly than the montville. Jackets I’ve got no pretty cleanness at all no creaking noise 209 grams. Now this jacket does not have a stuff sack it does stuff into its own pocket. The right side pocket has a reverse. Zipper so when you go inverted you do. Have a zipper on the outside so that’s a nice feature okay guys you’re looking at the small and the ghost whisperer the. Mountain hardwear ghost whisperer jacket and snug it’s fitted i can still get a. Layer underneath it at least a nice thick capilene maybe even a fleece but. This is what i like let me give you a look with the zipper on and off how that. Feels and wears and do a little runway. Show for you get the front back insides. This jacket is weighs in and 195 grams. So again a little bit heavier than the. Mock bail jackets but still extremely light and it does have the other features obviously that i mentioned with regard to the medium so i hope that’s helped we’re gonna talk about pack ability price, and then we’ll wrap it up what we’re. Looking at here is the anorak the x. Light down interact for month though small and medium this is the plasma. 1,000 small and medium this is the. Mountain hardwear ghost whisperer small and medium this is a standard 32 ounce now gn bottle this is the smaller 16-ounce nalgene bottle if you’ve seen. Those again these four are in a stuff. Sack these are stuffed into their own pocket. All of these stuffed fairly easily i. Think this bag is actually slightly bigger than this bag the plasma bag is. Bigger than the anorak bag that’s why it looks bigger although the anorak is a slightly larger jacket with a hood so it’s actually packed in there a little tighter all of these jackets compress a lot more if i. Have three hands i would show you if you take your palms and smoosh both ends. These jackets together you can easily smush them to half the length of what. They are in front of you now certainly within the size or volume of that nalgene bottle there so that’s the. Review guys i spent a lot of time looking at these jackets being reviews and then evaluating these jackets in my own home i spent some time trying to put. Together a video that would give you the. Best of all the videos and reviews that i watched so i would cover all the information people say some things, and they leave out other parts i tried to cover all the details with all three jackets so you can really get an idea of. Got the features that i liked it doesn’t have any cream cleanness it does have a slim taller fit it does have the pockets. I am wearing the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket. This ultra lightweight piece weighs in at just eight ounces. It utilizes water resistant down insulation to give you all weather performance whether. You are wearing this as a cool weather outer wear piece or as part of a colder weather. Layering system. Let’s take a closer look at its fit and features. The jacket is insulated with 800 fill q shield, water resistant down. So like you would expect from down insulation, extremely lightweight, extremely compressible. And a really strong warmth to weight ratio. However, over the years down has proven to lose its ability to keep you warm if it should. Become wet or damp. With the water resistant treatment to this down, you don’t have to worry about that. Nearly as much. It stays dry longer. Should it become wet, it still retains its ability to keep you warm. A really, really nice treatment to that down insulation. That said, it is worth pointing out that there is not a lot of insulation in this jacket. That is by design. It is an ultra lightweight layering piece. Again, you can certainly wear it as a standalone piece, but in cool weather as opposed. To cold weather. You do have narrow baffles that helps to keep the insulation where it should be so it doesn’t. Migrate and it also helps to bolster the warmth that this jacket is able to deliver. The exterior shell fabric on this jacket… keep in mind, we are talking about an ultra. Lightweight piece. So you have got a 70 by 10 d nylon rip stop. It is surprisingly strong and abrasion resistant, but still, we are talking about an ultra light. Weight design. So keep that in mind if you are weighing durability versus performance. That low profile design makes this, again, a great layering piece. You are not going to get a lot of layers underneath this, base layers, certainly. If it is a mid layer, you have got to be extremely low profile. There is a certain expectation that you are likely to put something either even warmer. Over top of it or a more weather resistant, weather proof hard shell jacket. There are elastic cuffs, an interesting treatment on the interior here that keeps those cuffs. In place. a single point of adjust ability on the hem to cinch the fit in there. It is a hooded jacket. No real adjust ability there. Just elastic that runs around the face that gives that a nice, trim, comfortable fit. In keeping with that streamlined design, you only have two pockets on the jacket, zippered. Pockets here on the front. Not much to speak of as far as the lining, but you do have that insulation over the top. Of the hands, so they are warm pockets. The right pocket here also serves as a stow pocket. Put the jacket inside there and show you just how small and compact this jacket is when. Put inside that pocket. You see just how small and compact the jacket is when stuffed inside that right-hand pocket. There is an attachment point here if you want to lash it to the outside of a pack or a harness. At this size i think it is perfect for actually throwing it inside the pack or the top lid. Pocket on a back pack. So you have got that ultra light warmth handy when you need it. Hi this is craig geology with review of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket for pro like here calm i would put this jacket up against. The patagonia ultralight down hoody but. I like this jacket better for the following reasons number one it’s lighter weight and number two it uses a more intelligent or a higher performance. Baffle design than the ultralight down hoody from patagonia and it’s got a what. I feel is a better design around the. Neck area for a hooded jacket let’s tell you a little bit about this jacket comes in 7.9 ounces or 223. Grams I’m wearing a size medium the size. Large was cut a little big for me it’s filled with two point eight ounces of 850 fill power q shields a hydrophobic. Down q shield is similar to the sierra. Designs dry down they’ve talked about earlier it’s where they take each individual plume, and they treat the. Plume with a dwr durable water repellent. To make it hydrophobic so that the balloon or the plume can withstand the. Presence of moisture and not collapse you know down works by when it’s inside a baffle it’s the loft or the. Springiness of those individual down plumes that create the dead air space inside these baffles i haven’t played. Around a lot with the q shield so i look. Forward to testing that out a little bit more in the future and kind of validating just how well it works and. Some other things about this jacket it’s using their whisper or fabric which is a seven janiero by changing your fabric it’s a really lightweight fabric and. It’s kind of just a really nice hand — it’s very compressible the baffle design this is using about a 1.4 inch. One point three six inches sized baffle so. A good baffle it’s a uniform baffle. Versus some of the other products up here that are using these variegated. Baffle designs the draw cord it’s a very. Small draw cord in the waist but it does have a draw cord for the waste it’s a hidden draw cord it does have two. Zippered pockets on it. And what i like about this jacket is when you zip it all the way up it. Creates a nice tight fit around the neck helps seal off that neck area, and we. Noticed that when we’re looking at these jackets underneath the ar with the flir thermal imaging camera that this jacket. The hooded jacket sometimes when you zip them all the way up they still leave a bit of room around the neck and you can. See that the heat escaping through the neck on hooded jacket, so they all work. Pretty well once you put the hood up it’s when you just have them fully zipped up with the hood down that we can tell a difference so i really like this and it just uses a standard kind of. Stretch binding in the cuff but it’s a. Little bit loose fitting that’s the only thing i might say about this jacket is the cuff could fit a little bit. Tighter so that wraps up the review of. The mountain hardwear ghost whisperer. Down hooded jacket it’s a jacket that i. Really like it works well as a layering. Hi it’s brad from back country skiing canada calm, and we’re here in the back country of whitewater ski resort today to talk about the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded down jacket which is the lightest down jacket on the market this jacket is simplicity. At its finest it’s only got two hand pockets and you can see the zippers are micro. Everything adds to making this the lightest down jacket on the market even the single cinch cord is extremely small. I have two and you can make do with one. It’s the lightest down jacket on the market at only 212 grams or seven point five ounces it’s filled with 850 down insulation and it’s got a 710-year ripstop nylon exterior the ghost. Whisperer jacket can be stuffed into one. Of its side pockets to compress it down nice and small in your pack i prefer to use a small stuff sack like this one here it just protects the jacket a. Little bit better and i find at the time it takes to stuff it into the pocket more often than not you just don’t do it so then it’s in your pack gets scraped might get cut damaged i prefer a stuff. Sack like this it’s a little quicker. It also compacts it down nicely and as well. Protects the jacket keeps it waterproof in your pack and it’s fairly small if. Hi I’m after steve and today I’m testing. And reviewing mountain hardwear’s updated ghost whisperer down jacket this. Down jacket has got to be the lightest down jacket i have ever picked up i keep. Hanging it to people and telling them to try it because they just can’t believe how light it weighs the entire coat is. Just over 200 grams and is incredibly. Compressible to be able to stuff it in a. Backpack I’ve been using it now for over. Two months including up in the mountains in poland for hiking and it has been an absolute dream to wear being a super. Lightweight jacket it’s pretty stripped down it doesn’t have that many features for example the cops are just elasticized but there still are two full. Hand stash pockets it’s got a fairly small zipper once you zip it up it fits. Really nicely as you can see so it’s. What’s called an active fit and hugs your body quite nicely the jacket as well. Features a single quick pull waist cinch. Located on one side i just pull it here. And it tightens up around my waist which is quite handy to be able to do it with just one hand we’re insulation this jacket uses an 850. Fill down and if you know anything about down that means it’s pretty darn warm. But the real magic is the fact that they’ve actually created a process which they call q shield down i guess and it. Essentially infuses the down which will built-in water repellency so even when. It gets wet it maintains its loft and it’s warm because of the tight weave it’s also quite wind proof so I’ve had this out in. A night breeze and i still stay warm the jacket I’m wearing it’s a size small blue obviously but it also comes a few. Other colors and a range of sizes for those that are looking for a little bit more coverage you can actually get the ghost whisperer hooded down jacket which. Is the exact same as this one only has a fold down hood that you can bring over your head as well in case you’re wondering the jacket does it into its own punch which is pretty amazing so I’ve stuffed it all in there which wasn’t too hard now i just unpack it. Like that throw it on and I’m nice and. Water people ask me what this coat might be rated to in terms of temperature and i do have a thicker down jacket that i. Wear in the dead of winter and it’s always warm i still have a little bit of. A concern that once a temperature dips to really cold temperatures this won’t quite cut it but the beauty of it is it’s so small and thin and has such a. Nice cut that i can put on pretty much any of my shells over top of this easily without any problem i do have one small nitpick with jacket and that’s the zipper I’ve actually found a number of times when i was heading out the door and i grabbed the jacket trying to zip it up quickly I’ve had problems at the bottom not quite lining up and then the zipper separating at the bottom so I’m here in the tatra mountains hiking I’ll hold the day started out dry and warm as. We got up high in the mountains i got pretty windy but luckily i had my ghost whisperer down johnny it fit right in my. Camera bag without any problem it was great to have a long well as you can see we have a nice snowfall today it’s pretty chilly but. With this jacket on I’m nice and toasty. On the inside and i barely feel the weight on well that’s it for my review the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer down jacket it’s got a lot of warmth without the weight and the q shield down keeps it nice and dry even when there’s snow or a little bit of rain coming down more information on this and all the other products at the mountain hardwear ca. Hevy woman joe here I’m out here for a quick walk and i figure out we just do a quick first impressions video of my new down jacket i got this jacket on black friday this is the mount hardware ghost. Whisperer jacket so i got this jacket on. Black friday the original price of the jacket is very expensive anybody would. Tell you that there’s no denying that the jacket originally cost over $300. It’s more with the hood i got the one without the hood obviously but on black trousers it will get the jacket for closer to $200 which i thought was a great deal so i just been wearing this jacket to it from work the past couple weeks and the jack has been performing great keeps me very warm this jacket has. A cue shield for the down so it keeps is. Slightly more water resistant than other down jackets and the jacket has been giving me very warm i got this jacket. Because it is extremely lightweight and it’s 800 fell down i wanted something with a little bit more insulation than my older jacket that was the patagonia men’s nano puff jacket the jacket only. Weighs seven and a half ounces and it could compact inside its own pocket which is great i was really shocked with. How lightweight this jacket was so one thing i was a little bit disappointed in the jacko’s i would imagine that there would been a little bit more of a loft to the jacket maybe it’s just me I’m not. Really sure but for 800 foot down i would imagine that would have been more loft so one thing i was nervous about when i first bought this jacket was the size so I’m about 510 and 160 pounds and. I usually go between a medium and a large but i decided to go with a medium and a medium fits great i have slightly longer. Arms so sometimes i have to get a large. But on the sleeves you could tell that i. Definitely have enough don’t have enough. Room there on my arm there and the jacket fits great if you’re if you’re. Around my height and around the same weight definitely get a medium okay everyone so i just want to make a quick first impressions video of my new down jacket this jacket has very good quality. Keeps me very warm and I’m very glad that i got it again this is the ghost whisperer jacket by mount hardware so. Thanks for watching.
All guys wanted to do a quick review. Of the mountain hardwear ghost whisperer hooded jacket this is an 800 full power. 800 fill power down with the 7 denier. Fabric and it has the q shield which. Means that every down plume or the down. Was treated with a dwr coating to. Protect it from some of the weaknesses of down which is moisture there is. Footage at the end of this video that I’ll include where i wash the jacket and. How you could see the look looms you. No clumping when wet and i put it in the dryer with four. Tennis balls tumble dry low for about 60. Minutes i guess you could do it a little. Shorter but i like to do it on low heat not to damage the fabric and end it down. As much as i can i will be adding you. No down safe detergent to my cleaning. Supplies whatever you want to call that. For all my down coats now i wound up purchasing this jacket. Because i felt that the cerium lt was. Just a little bit warm for my daily use here in new york city this jacket is. Great down to freezing and up to the. Mid-40s you don’t overheat with this as much as. The cerium lt and then app when it goes. Up and we have days when it’s 35 in the. Morning and it’s 55 by the afternoon it’s light enough eight and a half. Ounces was easier for me to. Psychologically carry in my backpack than an 11 ounce serum lt so I’ve owned. This piece since march 2017 did not. Really get a full we use out of this during 2017 bought it. When it was on sale, and we had a couple of cold days before spring had really. Arrived and was able to use it towards. The end of 2017 winter in march so i was. Really upset to see that earlier this. Winter without even a full seasons use. That the stitching was coming off so you. Could see here this was on the right sleeve right by the elbow and then as well. Now after washing it i also noticed that. There’s more stitching coming off right. Above that so it could be a quality. Control issue i have the former or. Previous version of this which is the. Yellow one i featured in one of my videos and that jacket does not show any. Signs of wear and I’ve used it i guess. Pretty close to you know i guess it’s. More of a handful of times in comparison to this but more than 1020. Times for sure the color is a bit hard. To use outside of back country use but i. Did use it for at least two seasons but. Not every day like this jacket now. Mountain hardwear has a limited or has a. Lifetime warranty but they’re going to. Require you to ship it back to the. Manufacturer other thing is if you. Attempt to fix this yourself or pay. Someone to fix it voids that warranty. So i found out that paragon sports here. In new york city mails back to the. Manufacturer so I’m actually bringing this to paragon sports today. And this is maybe the last chance i get. To review this actual jacket because. Either they repair it or they send you a. New jacket so i wanted to show you guys. The defects before i ship it back to the. Manufacturer so rei also does that for. Their customers anyway don’t want to. Dwell too much on this in terms of. Performance it’s very warm for its. Weight and the face fabric which is. Super thin has held up really well you. No i wear a backpack every day and you. Do not see any signs of wear on the. Shoulders the floor even though it. Doesn’t have an adjustment fits pretty. Well except on really windy days so. There’s also no signs of wear for. Abrasion where the backpack is so if it. Were not for the stitching coming off i. Think for the most part the materials. Used are very durable I’ve had no issues. With the zipper and you’ve got a pretty. Nice zipper garage up there. And this is a ykk i believe this is a. Ykk vislon zipper which is better than. The zipper on the cerium lt as far as. Most reviews are concerned these do not. Get stuck or snag as much as the i think. Coil zippers are they that’s what they call them just put some comments below if i butchered that anyway I’m just gonna. Show you guys how the jacket fits so you. Don’t have to go to my last video and. That’s about it weighs eight and a half. Ounces I’m gonna pause and put it in its. Stuff sack that way you guys have a. Reference for packed size and weight so. Here is the ghost whisperer down hoody. Right next to a 1 liter nalgene just for. Size comparison it does not compact as. Small as its previous iteration which. Was the 850 fill power down that had a. Smaller pocket a big advantage is that. The larger pocket makes it easier to stuff the jacket in there and also you. Just have more space for more things in. Your pockets the jacket weighs in at. Ain’t 8.4 ounces so it’s very light you. Can still compress this smaller. If you are one of those people that. The apparel industry soft goods rather than just all their hard goods that they’ve had we’re big fans of black diamond and these pants are no exception they are a blue sign certified which. Means that in the manufacturing of them the environment is taken into account as is the workers and the materials used so there’s not a lot of waste the pants are. Super comfortable super stretchy they’re made of the shoulder stretch woven fabric so there’s a lot of give to these pants in both directions they’re. Fairly lightweight, but they’re warm enough on colder days we’ve been turning in the morning where it’s well below zero and then in the afternoon we’ve gone as high as fifteen degrees out here and thankfully the don patrol. Pants come with these large zips to vent so i can vent all the way down to my boot and i can also vent and bottom up. If i want as well at the bottom you can. See the reco there is built in and there’s a really nice feature at the bottom there’s a mini gator so it doesn’t cover over the whole boot it just keeps the snow out which i really like and it doesn’t get in the way.
