Acquiring some more outdoor winter time. Of year i really don't have so let's go. Into this jacket and show you guys what. This thing is all about so this Jackie uses two types of. Gore-tex it uses a vortex pack light for. The main body and then you can see it in a high use areas like such as up here. Under the pitts run back they use a n. 40th p which is a 3 l tricot technology. I don't know what that means but it's apparently a more durable gore-tex than pack last pack light it. Packs more just as the name says. Pack light so let's go into some. Features on this jacket so one feature that i really like about this jacket are the locations of the hand pockets so. Normally the hand pockets are gonna be located right here where the hip belt is located and can't really get to it so. Our tareq's put the pockets right here. So you can keep your hands like this nice and warm and still have your hip. Belt strapped to you and your and your sternum strap is on as well with. Really like that idea and you can see. Where they have the high use or the high wear areas that's they have it on the. Shoulders for shoulder straps so when. You have all that rubbing on your pack. It you know it's more vertical fabric so. I'm the zippers here they used a watertight zipper which you can see and. The main zipper down the front. They used a watertight vislon zipper and. You can see it for these hands if herbs. The zippers go into a little garage up. Here so you can be watertight as. Possible let's show you guys the pit zips here they're all waterproof pit. Zips these are ideal to have in a jacket. To just open it up and just let some of. That steam out when you need to they. Really did a great job with the ergonomics of this jacket and the trim. Of it's not it's not too bulky and it. Looks looks like a nice fitting jacket. You can still lift your hands up and. That jacket still covers the back. Portion so you can even see from a lateral view compared to the anterior. And posterior you can see that the posterior is actually longer back here. So but when you're reaching up it's. Still covered alright now let's go into. The hood of this jacket so first off. With the hood off this is very. Comfortable around here and so let's put. The hood on it's a very large head this is compatible with helmets so you can see how large it is with none of the. Courts cinch down so it is quite large. But once you cinch it them down. It conforms to your head very well so. You can see how i could turn and the. Hood still stays on your head very well it's just like the patagonian jacket. It's got a cord around here and cord. Around here as well so you can pull this. Pull it back here and it's also got a. Very nice laminated hood so around the. Waist here you can see there's little waist poles so you just grab these. Around both sides and just pull out. And it tightens dramatically keeps all. The air from coming out keeps the heat in so i got this jacket to be my main. Shell for this winter like i said and underneath i do have my puffy jacket. Which you can see it and there's still plenty of room to actually put some more. Layers underneath this jacket it very. Excited to use this motor time especially you can pull these tie it cinches around the waist keeps the heat inside keeps me warm keeps me dry okay. I'm probably gonna even use this jacket. Snowboarding honestly i do you have. Another insulated jacket. But this one's definitely more waterproof nice the wintertime you just. Keep your snowboard goggles in here. There yeah you get your goggles in there look like you get a little stomach but. Just showing you how large these pockets are they're very large go into here so. It starts up here and all the way down. Down to here it's a fairly large jacket. They're fairly large pockets head i mean. So as you can see all the seams. On this jacket are seam sealed and as well. The adjustable wrist things that go. Around your wrist there alright guys. Best that ways it weighs lighter than my. On my boxer shorts literally this thing is super lightweight but it's also super. Super warm i used to have a man moon stratus the late vest that actually sold. To buy this and i sold my patagonia down. Sweater now i had a subscriber that asked me to go back and review that. Patagonia down sweater but i got done sweater vest but i can't because i sold. It to get this and i think this is a much better best there is one of our two. Shortcomings in this item but overall. Being very happy with this we've had a very cold winter in the northeast as well as throughout america I've had cousins in florida saying it was 50 degrees continuously for a couple of days long in miami the last two weeks. Ago so I'm gonna put this on a 5 foot 8 inches tall 155 pounds still and this is. A size medium and i don't believe the. Design under there's a jacket that our tax makes for this which is called a. Thorium cerium lt hoodie and a serum lt. Jackets and that has changed over the years but the design of the best for. That line has stayed the same so that's. How it looks on me and have a 38-hour. Soup size or chest whatever and it's. Very comfortable very lightweight it doesn't even feel like you're wearing a vest and that's what i liked about this is much lighter than the patagonia down sweater that's spent more prices. Well they get these online i paid about i think i bought this directly from amazon and i paid i think a hundred and. Fifty dollars for this which is kind of pricey compared come consumer if you get. A patagonia down sweater vest for about $80 and email so now there's only two pockets and. There's no interior pockets just like. The jacket and review time last fall so there's no interior pockets its just the two outer pockets and the other pockets are very deep so what I'll be put in this pocket syncs sort of down. Now the pockets on the sit high up. Because yeah with the design of thinking. That you wear a backpack are using this with a backpack or hip belt was something like that and you could put. The hip belt on and still access the pockets while hiking and walking or whatever but the thing with the pockets is they sink all the way down to the hem so let me put in these pockets will sink all the way down below there now i. Believe this piece has synthetic as well. As down fill so a synthetic primal off on the shoulder pads on the shoulders right here so when it rains its fine. For this to get wet it won't hit the down first to the balance in this park there so i like the it's very science. Fiction design of this item i like the way the down baffles are sort of curved. And very different than normal down baffles so it has a very it has a nice shape to it's not like Michelin tire guy. And you don't look like a marshmallow. Which is really cool now this is the. Admiral color wiggy i think it's the red or crimson interior which is cool and so. There's no inside pockets but this guy does stuck into a stuff sack and it's one of the lamest stuff sack I've ever seen is basically an umbrella condom that's attached to the pockets floating in there and on the thorium on my jacket. My cerium jacket that i have my i keep saying thorium but it's a cerium line the jacket is the same size stuff sack which is weird because the best is much smaller than pudding that i own but the. Best stuffs right into their really quick no issues there the jacket is a. Different story altogether because the jacket gives me a harvest time and stuff in there so i can stuff this in here could put this in my briefcase if it's like this morning was really cool coming into work if I'm going home and I'm wearing my overcoat i don't need to wear this my overcoat i could just stuff it down like this it's about the size of my fist or something put it rights in my previous and i don't have to worry about it which is really cool it's very warm up warren is down to like zero degrees and below Fahrenheit and it's. Kept me warm with a bigger coat over so. What i like about this and it hugs your body it lacks the hips inches but the. Design of it is that it hugs your body so whatever heat that you have on your. Torso is retaining area so I'll turn. Around so you guys can see how the hem is really long and it has a slightly less location there that hugs your body which is really good so it's. Really won no complaints highly recommended it is pricey and i believe this is the 2016 or 2015 model there are. Newer ones but the retail on these things are like 200 to 300 dollars so. They're very pricey but very well worth it and i prefer this to my patagonia down sweater vests that i had. In a previous video further on is much more because it's lighter than a patagonia down vest and it's just easier. To use and it fits I'm gonna need a lot of my overcoats so i don't recommend. Touring in the per sells with the ansi family having a great time and i just wanted to tell you about this mid layer I'm wearing right now first of all just so you know what I'm wearing on the outside is the lithic comp jacket from our carrick's to take a look at that go over here now. Underneath here I'm wearing the cerium lt jacket and if you're curious to learn. More about down insulating down and. Synthetic insulating apparel you can go over here and check in that area so the. Cerium lt jacket is the lightest of all. Arc'teryx down products offered our. Tareq's got into the down world about three or four years ago and this is one of their first offerings what's unusual about it is that it incorporates you. Now the body mapping technology what have you but what it basically boils. Down to is that there's core loft right here and here and on the shoulders so. Core loft is something that you can get wet and it still stays warm and core loft is something that we have it's. Included in other jackets we have as well. Reviewed so basically this is a mid. Layer jacket but it's still very. Warm I'd say it's a mid layer jacket largely because of how it fits this is a. Large I'm six-foot to about a hundred. And seventy-five pounds but it's fairly. Snug everywhere even under the arms so it works best underneath the jacket as a. Mid layer basically you have two hand. Warmer pockets here with zip ups a great. Hood with a simple drawstring on the. Back and no pockets on the inside if. I had my druthers i might like a pocket. Here but it just maybe perhaps wasn't. Included because of the extra weight. So this is the arc'teryx cerium lt. Jacket and i put it in my i put in my. Pack — just as a backup layer or if it's. Hey guys today i want to do a review of the down jacket i used on my appalachian shelter hike and i use the art eric cerium lt hoody really great backpacking. Down jacket i think this is its main purpose is for backpacking comes in at nine point seven ounces uses about three. A little over 3 ounces of 850 850 fill. Power down which is really nice high quality down and one thing i really like about this jacket and it kind of sets it apart from other jackets in this class is arc'teryx uses core loft 80 synthetic. Insulation in certain places that are kind of known to gather moisture. Normally so like right here this is the. Mouthpiece so you can see the square right here that's core loft insulation so when you have it zipped up your breath just from. The moisture in your breath that can naturally get wet and Karloff does a much better job at staying warm when it's wet than down, so they put core loft right there they also put it on the. Shoulders here which is really good because when you're wearing a backpack strap that can stay warm right. There because it's its keeping it tight against your body also and under arms. Here they use core laughs so this is. Triangle piece right here that's coral oft insulation also notice that the underarm is gusseted which makes it really nice gives you better articulation and there's more range of. Movement so you're not getting bunched up and just makes it more comfortable to wear for a long period of time and the. Last place they put it is right here on the wrist of the jacket so you know all. This right here is core loft and then the rest of it is down super nice i think that's a really good idea and it just makes the jacket kind of you know. The next level kind of jacket that and. Kind of company that arc'teryx is they put out really high quality stuff as far. As fitment of the jacket is also standard arc'teryx nice slim fitting I'm. 6 foot tall and weigh about 150 pounds and the size medium fits me perfectly. It's long in the arms so i can actually it doesn't it doesn't stop short which. Is really nice also on the wrists they have a nice little elastic cuff. Kind of keep it helps keep it tighter around your wrist to help them drafts coming in but really slim fitting but it's you know it's a down jacket so. There's gonna be a little bit poufier but it's slim fitting so you don't feel. Like you're wearing like this gigantic down jacket really great some things i. Would i would use this jacket for are mainly backpacking because of its light. Weight and its warmth to weight ratio is outstanding but also it's a really good. Jacket for around the town just everyday stuff and like in the spring and in the. Fall on chilly days chilly nights this. Is a really good jacket for that because it's a lightweight down jacket it's really not meant for like cold weather like really cold weather winter stuff that's not what it's made for so because. This is primarily a backpacking jacket it does come with a really nice stuff sack unfortunately i can't show you that because i lost it, and they have. Hopefully i can find it i know it's here somewhere i just can't find it right now, but they actually have on the inside of their pockets or one of them anyways. They have a way they have a loop in here that's the drawstring from the. Stuff sack will actually tie into that way you don't lose it like i did so if. You do get this jacket just leave that on and that way you can just kind of. Stuff it rights into it and just make sure you always put it back in the pockets hopefully i can find that again because it stuffs down to a really nice size it's only like this big which is. Super nice so one thing about this. Jacket though is because it's a lightweight down jacket and if you go. From pretty much anything like you're. Talking backpacking stuff anything robust is gonna be heavy so if you're. Trying to save weight usually that involves a shaving weight involves going. To thinner materials lighter stuff is. Always less strong than more robust. Stuff so it's just something to be aware of so i brought out another down jacket. I have which is my fjällräven down jacket and this is definitely a much. More robust jacket also notice the size difference like how i was talking about it's probably this jacket isn't really a good standalone piece for the winter it's mo we made for you know backpacking and. Like chilly nights whereas notice the. Size difference this is uh i use this as. Like a winter jacket you know much thicker much heavier but it's also more. Robust so i just want to show you the difference real quick. And i think a good representation of this is the zippers see if you can. Hopefully the camera can get this just the difference in size of the zippers and how much more robust that the fee aravind one is much thicker much heavier. Duty and even the actual zipper itself the teeth on the zipper are a. Lot thicker and there's its much. Smaller on the arc'teryx jacket which is a good thing if you're looking to save weight that's definitely a good thing this is gonna be a much lighter jacket was just something to be aware of that when you're zipping it you know it's probably not something that can take as much of abuse as the something. Bigger I'm not saying it's gonna fall. Apart immediately or anything i mean i went my whole thru-hike with this thing except for the on the summer months and it lasted great I'd never had any problems with it and that's why I'm doing a review on it cuz it's something i love never had a problem with it but if you are really hard on gear or you're. Looking for something that you know is. Gonna get beat up probably might not be. The best option but also at the same time i don't know arc'teryx makes really high quality stuff and I'm sure it'll I'm sure it'll last so a couple other features about the jacket are on the hood it's an adjustable hood so you can cinch it down around your head try and keep that warmth in and keep the draft out it's pretty important and on the sides it has two hand pockets nice big. Pockets big enough to get your whole hand in there and keep them warm as well as store some stuff in their obviously pretty standard stuff um so i mean a. Downside to the jacket is that because. It's down you have to keep it dry that's really important when i was on the 80 i used a pack cover and a pack. Liner just to make sure i was keeping all the water out but it's just something to be aware of if you're not a huge fan of down they do make very similar jackets i believe they're called the adams like the adam lt which is made. Of 100% coral oft so it will be a little bit heavier and but. I mean the positive to that is it'll stay warmer when wet but if you're. Looking for like absolute lightweight you really can't beat the warmth to weight ratio it down so something to be. Aware of this jackets coming in at about. 350 bucks 360 bucks something like that. So what is on the higher side but you. No i kind of believe that you do get what you pay for and arc'teryx makes really high quality stuff so you know. Black stains dead small almost no reason. Not to take it with you be honest if you're heading out into the hills any time of year all the adjustments and. Things you would expect well-thought-out with a pet zips a great helmet. Compatible hood do hand warming pockets. And a useful chest pocket up here great.
