Specific version weighs in at 12 ounces this is gonna be perfect for anyone that's looking to go fast and light especially those of you out there they're considering doing a thru-hike you'll want to take a look at this pad a two and a half inches thick this pads gonna offer a great night sleep and it. Does have an r-value that allows it to use for three seasons part of that is due to a reflective barrier that's built inside the pad that's reflecting your body heat back up to you instead of having the ground leach it out of you and in the women's specific model there is a double barrier so compared to the basic x-lite which only has a single barrier the women's version has two since women typically sleep colder the. Newer x-lite is an inflatable sleeping pad so you will need to blow it up by mouth on the other hand this allows the. Pad to be packed up very tight and small and you'll notice the minimal design where a thermal arrest has trimmed off the corners at the feet and the head. Doesn't require as many breasts to blow. This style of pad up for that reason it also is in keeping with that minimalist design concept there're a women's specific model this pad fits someone up to five feet five inches long if you're a woman and you're taller than that like me you'll have to go with the basic neoair x-lite which does fit up to six feet this pad does come with a stuff. Sack it packs up to about nine inches by four inches so easily fit in a pack and therm rest does include a repair kit. Hi this is becca I'm tyler they were. Ripped off for two so today we're going to talk about our therm-a-rest neoair x-lite sleeping pads so this is actually. A pretty fairly recent purchase that. We've had for the upcoming backpacking season, so we have not used this yet in our backpacking adventures but in the. Past we've gone with various inflatable. Pads but we've had a mummy style sleeping bag and more recently we've. Switched over to quilts and so for that. Reason that god is kind of thinking about other options for sleeping pads, and so we came across this therm-a-rest. Neo air x-lite and obviously there are pros and cons to it, so we'll go ahead and blow these up so you can see it, and then we'll talk about what some of those are. All right so we'll go ahead and talk. About each of these we each chose to get. A different version mine is the short version it's lighter it's the lightest. Of them but i typically bring a sip pad. Along with me also it's using my wrap which is this little neo eric pad so. I'll typically um you know use a 3/4. Length pad and then use my pad for my wrapped down at my foot end to have that. Support there so i thought if i have. This already it may as well make use of it and i got the shorter length pad so. This is a total of 8 ounces for this. Short pad and it has an r-value of 3.2. And so you know that obviously is a. Benefit to when using quilts you don't. Have anything under you we thought you know getting warmer pads beneath us would help out a lot and i chose to go with the women's pad. It's lighter than the regular men's pad. It's one ounce lighter so it's 11 ounces and the regular men's pad comes in. To 12 ounces they also have an r value of 3.9 so it's really warm and I'm a. Cold sleeper so i really like that factor about it and a couple things that. I don't like is this actually takes a really long time to blow up unless you have some kind of inflation device which. I think there were ourselves but it wasn't worth it to us um also the thing. That i don't like it but it's really creepily so every time you move you're making lots of noise and supposedly. That's supposed to go away over time, but we haven't seen that go away yet so those are my cons but overall i. Really like this pad it's really comfortable it has four inches of. Inflation so it brings you pretty high. Up off the ground and like i said it was really warm so yeah so just to kind of compare the women's is a little bit. Shorter than the regular length men's cut also so that was one reason and the. One thing one difference between the women's and the men's regular is that the women's pad is a little bit wider but it is shorter and overall it is slightly. Less heavy but I'm just looking at it. Here this short version one even then. The women's version is quite a bit shorter so it no really just depends. What they have they also have they have. A small the regular and then a long size and then obviously the women's specific one which becca said has the higher. R-value because women tend to sleep a. Little bit colder, but we're very excited for these, so we think it's going to be a good addition to our sleep system especially using quilts having that higher r-value. You.

Hey without their gear to eat and today. I have the women's Cerberus neoair x light the neoair x light is very. Comfortable lightweight compact able sleeping pad let's talk about the features, and then we'll go into how it performed this pad is an updated version. Of the old neo air and it weighs about 15% lighter than the original it weighs. In around 12 ounces which is really good it might not be the lightest sleeping pad on the market but it's definitely comfortable and warm and that's a pretty good trade off the top and the bottom fabric is 30 deep high tenacity nylon and the warmth comes from a reflective. Layer inside the bag that recycles body heat and creates dual air pockets that. Conserve warmth it's extremely pack able and as you can see it packs down to the size of the water bottle it's about two and a half inches thick and 20 inches wide the sleeping pad comes with a stuff. Sack and a repair kit and it cost around 159 and is made in the usa so let me. Start by saying that this is definitely one of the most comfortable sleeping pads I've ever slept on that being said. There are a few minor issues if you're next if your tent mate is a light. Sleeper you might wake them up because this is a pretty crinkly sleeping pad however it doesn't affect me sleeping on. It then the other issue is that it's a. Little bit short and narrow i think they did that to cut back on weight however if you're 5 6 and under this is a great. Sized sleeping pad if you're 5 7 like me it's a little bit short which i didn't even notice the first time i slept on it because i usually curl up on my side and. With that being said the 2 and a half. Inches thickness here really helps side sleepers because your shoulders and your. Hips don't hit the ground it is a little. But narrow when you're sleeping on your side hasn't been an issue for me I'd kind of the warmth and the comfort is a nice trade-off lastly I'm really pretty impressed at. How warm this sleeps it's a three-season sleeping pad they do have the x theorem which is for season if you sleep warm there's a good possibility you could use this for all four seasons last night it dropped down to low teens. And i was still pretty chilly but between the you know the thickness that. Kept me off the sleeping the ground and just you know the reflective layers they. Have in here i slept pretty warm considering how cold i am oiz and so i. Definitely recommend this sleeping pad you're just looking for a really lightweight comfortable sleeping pad like i said this is the therm-a-rest neoair x light check it out this is. That's going to appeal to most in order to get the best performance out of the sleep system it's important that the alpine blanket actually attached to the. Neo air xy pad thermos makes it easy by. Including these adhesive strips you see here fast and light mattress snap kit each of these has a different attachment. Point that matches to the male or female. Snap located here on the outside edges. Of the alpine down blanket I've already. Attached these obviously I'll attach the other side here you'll notice there's. Baffling here on the inside of the down. Blanket that increases warmth by being tucked there on the other side and maximizes thermal efficiency of the sleep system. Final step then in assembling the sleep. System is making sure that you've brought that elastic cuff around the. Bottom of the path so — everything's securely in place we've shown the snaps. Here in use but we'd put these on. Beforehand these come loosely package by. Therm-a-rest you'll need to put them on the pad yourself by pulling up these strips to show the adhesive definitely. Advise to do that before you've inflated the pad so this is a flat surface and therm rest advise is give it about 24. Hours for these to set up to ensure that they're in place and going to stay in. Warm right now mo toasty a little ready. To get out Oh. All right so in case you missed it this. Is the mountain hardwear torch lam ZEE which is the men's version of their five. Degree Fahrenheit sleeping bag overall i want to say i really like this bag and i would keep it. Except for one factor which I'll talk about later and but it's been I've had. It for almost a year now it's been across the u.s. with me japan in snow storms it's been in summer. It's been in a living room lots of aluminum and i can fairly accurately. Attest that it's a great sleeping bag i put it through the wringer for sure I'm going to start with a few things that i do like about it first of. All i do like the brand mountain hardwear and i do like the color. Important i do also like one thing i liked about. It is the welded pam construction now if. You know anything about baffle construction in these kind of products is anywhere that is if you don't well. Depending on the kind of construction typically if it's sewn then you're going to have this spot where the two fabrics meet together for the zone and it's a spot where he can easily escape. Because there's very few barriers by doing the welded you end up having loft all the way through the bag which is really nice less heat escapes that way i. Do like the zippers have been very good it's a large ykk zipper. And the air guard on the zipper does. Occasionally get stuck but I'm not going to call it a complaint because it's pretty minor it's got one strap that. Goes from the outside and then swings towards the inside so you can access it. From either side it is a double zipper so if you tend to get hot feet at night. You can unzip this and stick your feet out the bottom or for airing it out or. However you want to use that and it is a. Double zipper the velcro around the neck. I haven't had any issues with some people typically complain about that on. Sleeping bags that use velcro i haven't had an issue with that granted i don't use it a ton typically i just zip it up. But i haven't issues with it some things i don't really like about this pag and take this. With a grain of salt because they're not huge issues to me like i said i have the. Only reason I'm not going to keep it is for one reason and it's not one of these so i don't really like the fit of it now. That's something that i should have looked into more when i got this bag and it's something that i just didn't know at the time or thing to consider but just because something is a mummy bag does not mean it's going to fit you exactly the same every manufacturer has. A different fit and sizing chart and this bag in particular is quite broad. And has a lots of space in it which is great if you want to move around and twist a lot but for me I'm typically. Looking for something that is compressible small and holds in my. Warmth really well so i need to look more carefully next time at a bag fits me really well this one just has a lot. Of space around the shoulders and even the head when we cinch it up I've still got a bunch of dead air space next to my head and it's just unnecessary energy. Being wasted and heat being wasted so. That's that's my fault not necessarily the bags thing just something to know it seems to be a little bit wider than other bags to things that don't really like about this bag the drawstring the. Drawstring is difficult in my opinion it. Is a elastic shock cord which isn't. Necessarily a bad thing but the actual mechanism itself is a very stiff spring which is hard to open especially when. You're tired but also i think more. Importantly i don't like the angle of it some bags put it on the inside so that. You can easily access it but if you're all zipped up they're nice and cozy and snuggly for the night it's really. Difficult to kind of reach out through the neck and tighten things it's just. It's just difficult and it's stiff i don't know I'm not a big fan of the draw cord i wish it was on the inside and i wish it was a little easier to adjust that's just me also they have this. Zipper on the outside a very small. Little pouch good for like a cell phone. I use it for well use it i would use it. For a camera or like camera batteries. Sorry not a full camera a camera batteries or by phone to keep it warm at. Night so that the batteries don't end up going kaput well that would be great except that. They put it on the outside of the bag on the outside of the insulation which means your body heat doesn't keep it warm and there's nothing from the outside keeping it warm so basically anything you put in this bag is going to. Be freezing by morning and so that doesn't do me any good for me personally i would prefer it was on me inside then. It might have some use that's pretty. Much it oh the one thing dun-dun-dun the one. Reason I'm not going to keep this bag for too much longer is compressibility and that's not necessarily the bags fault it's just because of what i do a lot of backpacking and hiking and i. Need something more compressible because this guy even at its smallest point with. Me sitting on it and squeezing the life. Out of it doesn't really fit into my 70 liter backpack very well and so it's. Just not a good fit for me if you're. Doing a lot of car camping this may still be a great bag and I'd recommend it but if your goal is ultra light and small i would not recommend this bag all. Things considering i suppose that being. Down is that each plume is coated with a water resistant finish so if these bags. You know are subject to rain or moisture. In any way they're going to hold up better than traditional down with. You need to unzip the bag or want this tab to just be out of your way you can. Fold that back and a full length zipper. For a mummy sleeping bag now the zipper. Doesn't go all the way down to the bottom of the foot box but to keep that thermal efficiency it goes almost all. The way down so full length zipper. Behind the zipper you have a nice draft. Tube and you also have. Um a more durable fabric behind the zipper that is an anti snag design so. I'm just going to really not worry about. Snagging your sleeping bag down at the. Bottom the zipper is a two-way zipper so. If you just need to vent the bag from the bottom or fencing the bag from the. Top and bottom you can have the zipper. Go both ways and the foot box is. Definitely a box design so they didn't. Just take the top and bottom of the sleeping bag and sew them together there's a really nice box better for a. Thermal efficiency and it's much more comfortable for your feet to have that. Sort of design there so that's a great feature as well the 650 fill down is. Really compressible so they include a. Degree down bag the phantom is gonna be great for a lot of different uses whether you're doing a lot of camping in the shoulder seasons or high mountain camping in the summer and maybe a little bit of winter camping this is really gonna fit the bill the biggest standout feature the phantom 15 is mountain hardwear's q shield down treatment this. Technology is particularly cool because downs traditional disadvantage is that it doesn't retain heat when it's wet mountain hardwear has gone and gone through and treated every feather in this bag so you're not you're not making the shell of the bag waterproof you're making the insulation waterproof what that gives you is a down bag that will still retain heat even when it gets wet.
