From the high alpine of the Absaroka Range to the meandering paths of New Hampshire’s Mount Washington, the Marmot Women’s Xenon 15 Degree Down Sleeping Bag is designed to maximize warmth without weighing you down. Fashioned with a women-specific composition, the Xenon is equipped with additional insulation in strategic areas (ones where women most frequently lose heat) and sports a 15-degree rating that makes it ideal for early spring wanders through Moab or a late fall trip to Acadia National Park.
Constructed with a lightweight Pertex material, the Xenon features 800-fill down insulation that assures furnace-like warmth when temperatures dip below comfortably cool. Marmot utilized curved baffles to prevent the insulation from shifting around as you sleep. Additionally, the bag is outfitted with a Down Defender treatment, which provides extra protection from light moisture. And thanks to the anatomically-correct footbed and nautilus-inspired hood and draft tube, the Xenon is able to maximize thermal efficiency. Should things start to heat up a little bit, the two-way side zippers allow easy-peasy ventilation. The bag comes fully furnished with an internal stash pocket, drawcord for the hood, and hang loops. And, stuff and storage sacks are included, which makes taking care of your bag far easier than that time you decided to adopt a hamster and it promptly went missing.
The Women’s NeoAir XLite Sleeping Pad is Therm-a-Rest’s lightest pad yet for ultralight backpacking, and it’s still comfy for camping. Women-specific ThermaCapture insulation uses a reflective layer to mirror your body heat back to you, and the Triangular Core Matrix enhances warmth and repels cold for cozy nights. The NeoAir XLite also features stable horizontal baffling, an easy-to-inflate air valve, and an included stuff sack and repair kit.
We’re gonna take a look at therm-a-rest neoair excellent pad this is the women’s. Specific version weighs in at 12 ounces this is gonna be perfect for anyone that’s looking to go fast and light especially those of you out there they’re considering doing a thru-hike you’ll want to take a look at this pad a two and a half inches thick this pads gonna offer a great night sleep and it. Does have an r-value that allows it to use for three seasons part of that is due to a reflective barrier that’s built inside the pad that’s reflecting your body heat back up to you instead of having the ground leach it out of you and in the women’s specific model there is a double barrier so compared to the basic x-lite which only has a single barrier the women’s version has two since women typically sleep colder the. Newer x-lite is an inflatable sleeping pad so you will need to blow it up by mouth on the other hand this allows the. Pad to be packed up very tight and small and you’ll notice the minimal design where a thermal arrest has trimmed off the corners at the feet and the head. Doesn’t require as many breasts to blow. This style of pad up for that reason it also is in keeping with that minimalist design concept there’re a women’s specific model this pad fits someone up to five feet five inches long if you’re a woman and you’re taller than that like me you’ll have to go with the basic neoair x-lite which does fit up to six feet this pad does come with a stuff. Sack it packs up to about nine inches by four inches so easily fit in a pack and therm rest does include a repair kit. Should you run into any problems in the field and which you might need to patch or repair the pad you’ve got the things you need there to do it.
Hi this is becca I’m tyler they were. Ripped off for two so today we’re going to talk about our therm-a-rest neoair x-lite sleeping pads so this is actually. A pretty fairly recent purchase that. We’ve had for the upcoming backpacking season, so we have not used this yet in our backpacking adventures but in the. Past we’ve gone with various inflatable. Pads but we’ve had a mummy style sleeping bag and more recently we’ve. Switched over to quilts and so for that. Reason that god is kind of thinking about other options for sleeping pads, and so we came across this therm-a-rest. Neo air x-lite and obviously there are pros and cons to it, so we’ll go ahead and blow these up so you can see it, and then we’ll talk about what some of those are. All right so we’ll go ahead and talk. About each of these we each chose to get. A different version mine is the short version it’s lighter it’s the lightest. Of them but i typically bring a sip pad. Along with me also it’s using my wrap which is this little neo eric pad so. I’ll typically um you know use a 3/4. Length pad and then use my pad for my wrapped down at my foot end to have that. Support there so i thought if i have. This already it may as well make use of it and i got the shorter length pad so. This is a total of 8 ounces for this. Short pad and it has an r-value of 3.2. And so you know that obviously is a. Benefit to when using quilts you don’t. Have anything under you we thought you know getting warmer pads beneath us would help out a lot and i chose to go with the women’s pad. It’s lighter than the regular men’s pad. It’s one ounce lighter so it’s 11 ounces and the regular men’s pad comes in. To 12 ounces they also have an r value of 3.9 so it’s really warm and I’m a. Cold sleeper so i really like that factor about it and a couple things that. I don’t like is this actually takes a really long time to blow up unless you have some kind of inflation device which. I think there were ourselves but it wasn’t worth it to us um also the thing. That i don’t like it but it’s really creepily so every time you move you’re making lots of noise and supposedly. That’s supposed to go away over time, but we haven’t seen that go away yet so those are my cons but overall i. Really like this pad it’s really comfortable it has four inches of. Inflation so it brings you pretty high. Up off the ground and like i said it was really warm so yeah so just to kind of compare the women’s is a little bit. Shorter than the regular length men’s cut also so that was one reason and the. One thing one difference between the women’s and the men’s regular is that the women’s pad is a little bit wider but it is shorter and overall it is slightly. Less heavy but I’m just looking at it. Here this short version one even then. The women’s version is quite a bit shorter so it no really just depends. What they have they also have they have. A small the regular and then a long size and then obviously the women’s specific one which becca said has the higher. R-value because women tend to sleep a. Little bit colder, but we’re very excited for these, so we think it’s going to be a good addition to our sleep system especially using quilts having that higher r-value. You.
Hey without their gear to eat and today. I have the women’s Cerberus neoair x light the neoair x light is very. Comfortable lightweight compact able sleeping pad let’s talk about the features, and then we’ll go into how it performed this pad is an updated version. Of the old neo air and it weighs about 15% lighter than the original it weighs. In around 12 ounces which is really good it might not be the lightest sleeping pad on the market but it’s definitely comfortable and warm and that’s a pretty good trade off the top and the bottom fabric is 30 deep high tenacity nylon and the warmth comes from a reflective. Layer inside the bag that recycles body heat and creates dual air pockets that. Conserve warmth it’s extremely pack able and as you can see it packs down to the size of the water bottle it’s about two and a half inches thick and 20 inches wide the sleeping pad comes with a stuff. Sack and a repair kit and it cost around 159 and is made in the usa so let me. Start by saying that this is definitely one of the most comfortable sleeping pads I’ve ever slept on that being said. There are a few minor issues if you’re next if your tent mate is a light. Sleeper you might wake them up because this is a pretty crinkly sleeping pad however it doesn’t affect me sleeping on. It then the other issue is that it’s a. Little bit short and narrow i think they did that to cut back on weight however if you’re 5 6 and under this is a great. Sized sleeping pad if you’re 5 7 like me it’s a little bit short which i didn’t even notice the first time i slept on it because i usually curl up on my side and. With that being said the 2 and a half. Inches thickness here really helps side sleepers because your shoulders and your. Hips don’t hit the ground it is a little. But narrow when you’re sleeping on your side hasn’t been an issue for me I’d kind of the warmth and the comfort is a nice trade-off lastly I’m really pretty impressed at. How warm this sleeps it’s a three-season sleeping pad they do have the x theorem which is for season if you sleep warm there’s a good possibility you could use this for all four seasons last night it dropped down to low teens. And i was still pretty chilly but between the you know the thickness that. Kept me off the sleeping the ground and just you know the reflective layers they. Have in here i slept pretty warm considering how cold i am oiz and so i. Definitely recommend this sleeping pad you’re just looking for a really lightweight comfortable sleeping pad like i said this is the therm-a-rest neoair x light check it out this is. Whitney with outdoor gear tv gets tube gear and get outside.
Catering to ounce counting backpackers. And thru-hikers the therm-a-rest neoair. X-lite sleep system combine some of. Therm-a-rest most lightweight most pack able components including the neo. Air x light inflatable sleeping pad the. Alpine down blanket a fastened light. Snap kit to connect the two together and. An ultra light pillow case in which you can stuff hats layers other clothes to. Make a nice comfortable headrest the foundation for the neo air x light sleep system is of course the neo air x light. Pad this is an inflatable pad very. Compact very lightweight 12 ounces total. Wait for what is the regular length of the pad that we’re looking at here 20 by 72 3.2 r-value takes up very. Little space inside your pack it’s. Coupled with the alpine down blanket. Alpine down blanket has a 35 degree. Temperature rating on it you can see. That what it stuffs down to total weight. For the blanket is pound and a half for. The pad itself is only twelve ounces so. You’re just over two pounds for the entire sleep system definitely a weight. That’s going to appeal to most in order to get the best performance out of the sleep system it’s important that the alpine blanket actually attached to the. Neo air xy pad thermos makes it easy by. Including these adhesive strips you see here fast and light mattress snap kit each of these has a different attachment. Point that matches to the male or female. Snap located here on the outside edges. Of the alpine down blanket I’ve already. Attached these obviously I’ll attach the other side here you’ll notice there’s. Baffling here on the inside of the down. Blanket that increases warmth by being tucked there on the other side and maximizes thermal efficiency of the sleep system. Final step then in assembling the sleep. System is making sure that you’ve brought that elastic cuff around the. Bottom of the path so — everything’s securely in place we’ve shown the snaps. Here in use but we’d put these on. Beforehand these come loosely package by. Therm-a-rest you’ll need to put them on the pad yourself by pulling up these strips to show the adhesive definitely. Advise to do that before you’ve inflated the pad so this is a flat surface and therm rest advise is give it about 24. Hours for these to set up to ensure that they’re in place and going to stay in. Place and be where you need them when you’re out in the back country. You.

Summer camping in the high alpine just isn’t the same without the Marmot Trestles Elite Eco 20 Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Synthetic. Its compression stuff sack makes it easy to bring along in your pack on your backpacking or bike touring trip. Made from recycled fabric and recycled high loft insulation, you’ll not only stay comfortable through chilly nights but you can feel good about it as well. Marmot’s HL-ElixR Eco insulation is a unique blend of 3 different recycled fibers that is soft to the touch and with its combination Wave Construction, ensures a high loft for extra warmth. If you get too toasty though, the fold-down second zipper provides added ventilation to keep you comfortable.
Stop fighting with your zipper and say goodbye to getting your hair caught in hook-and-loop tabs. The Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed 700 Dridown 20 Degree Sleeping Bag will revolutionize the way you backpack. By doing away with the zipper altogether, Sierra Designs not only reduces the weight of this bag, but makes a more comfortable sleeping experience. As the name implies, an incorporated comforter mimics the delicious feeling of being at home in bed. Tuck that blanket around your neck, or toss it down when the sun heats your tent up in the morning. If it gets pretty toasty, but you’re insistent on sleeping in, you can also pop the foot vent open for an extra draft.
You tend to toss and turn at night, and you like to roll over a dozen times before falling asleep. Thanks to a sleeve for your sleeping pad, you can totally get away with that now. Roll your heart away, and never fear waking up on the cold, rocky ground again. Also, if the temperatures dip below freezing, you can toggle the comforter to the sidewalls, tuck your arms into the insulated sleeves, and cinch the hood down for that cozy mummy bag feel that keeps you warm and feeling safe.
This unique and innovative sleep system is the sierra designs backcountry bed. Duo sin 1.5 sleeping bag this is a. Double wide two-person sleeping bag that. Has a lot of features a very unique. Construction that’s going to help you be very comfortable in the backcountry first thing that stands out to me here. Is you’ve got your sierra designs backcountry bed style so this is a. Zipper this sleeping bag you’ve got a really broad opening here in the front. Of the bag and although you would think. With a traditional sleeping bag that long zipper that runs up and down is easy to get in and out of this open construction is really easy to crawl in. And out of the sleeping bag you’ve got. An integrative sewn in blanket here in. The top i’ve got it folded over here. Just to show the size but this is. Stitched in half way into the sleeping. Bag and so you’ve got all of this room up top to use this as a blanket. You’ve got integrated sleeves here so. You can bring this around tuck this around your body and use it almost like a blanket that you would use at home so it’s very comfortable in that way for. The warmest of nights you can take this tuck it away so that you have a lot of. Breathability and it’s just a very very. Comfortable sleep system the bottom of. This bag has a traditional foot box so. You do have warmth around your feet. You’ve got a really nice baffled foot box down here at the bottom and as you can see we’ve got two sleeping pads here. Underneath of the backcountry bed now. This is a double wide it’s meant for two people and this is going to fit up to someone who’s six feet tall you’ve got a. Lot of girth and a lot of movement in. Here so it’s a great option to take into. The backcountry it packs down pretty small smaller than you you would pack down two separate sleeping bags but with the foot box and. With the construction here you can slide. In two sleeping pads to the integrated. Sleeve here in the top so you’ve got a lot of movement around your feet you can. Actually take your feet out of the sleeve down here and that is able to. Vent and really cool you off on warmer nights the sleeping pads i have here are. Both 20 inches wide but you can use. Either 20 or 25 inch wide sleeping pads. The integrated sleeve that’s on the top. Half of this bag is actually expandable. So i have it set on the smaller setting. But there’s little toggles on there where you can expand that sleeve out to be a little bit wider so you can have wider sleeping pads do you want to. Mention that the bottom of this sleeping. Bag is not insulated so you do need to. Made it with a sleeping pad but you do have almost like a sheet right here. Underneath of you so you’re not coming into contact directly with the sleeping pad you have a really comfortable material right here between you and the sleeping pad and as we move up the. Backcountry bed there is not a. Traditional hood that you would expect on a mummy sleeping bag but you do have a hood designed in the top so on the. Coldest of nights when you’re coming. Close to that temperature rating for these sleeping bag you can really bring up that blanket tuck it around your head. And around your neck and use that hood. In the top to really batten everything down and to hold in your heat so you can. Use this in a variety of different ways and it’s just very comfortable it feels. More like sleeping in your bed at home where you have your sleeping or you have. Your blanket around you and. You have the ability to have your feet out and really vent in the bag this bag. Is insulated with synthetic material and what i like about synthetics is that. When you’re in humid or damp conditions. Or this bag were to become wet it’s. Gonna dry out really quickly and it also is going to maintain its thermal efficiency even when wet so it performs. Better than down in that way and the. Synthetic insulation they’re using here. Is still very compressible compact this. Bag weighs in right around four pounds four ounces so again that’s for two people if you think about cutting that. Weight in half you’ve got a really great back packable option here you can take this into the backcountry the materials. This top material is a durable nylon. Ripstop fabric and that is also going to. Resist moisture so it’s going to keep moisture from going into the bag the. Material on the inside of the bag is lighter weight and it’s a little bit softer so you have a soft next to skin feel it’s really comfortable there and this bag is rated for 1.5 seasons it. Doesn’t have a true en rating or a. Specific temperature rating but in. Warmer weather around maybe around 50. Degrees in summer late summer into fall. Or late spring into summer it would be a. Bag that’s meant for warmer weather sierra designs does include a stuff sack. For this backcountry bed and just to. Show the size if you pack it down in here and cinch it down it’s definitely. The same size or smaller than two separate sleeping bags and i’m just a. Big fan of this style it’s easier to use. In my opinion than trying to set two sleeping bags together and with the. Integrated sleeping pad sleeve that. Uninsulated bottom really makes this sleep system a little bit lighter weight a little bit more packable and it’s just. A unique innovative way for couples to. Sleep in the backcountry it is the sierra designs backcountry bed duo sin 1.5 sleeping system. You.
This is the sierra designs woman’s back country bed it has 700 full power. Down and this is the 20 degree version. Backcountry beds are unique for a few reasons first their zip or less and have. A big opening right here in the top to. Get in and out of the shape is a little different than a traditional mummy bag they’re really wide here in the middle. To give you a lot of comfort and room to move so whether you’re a side sleeper or. You sleep on your back you will be comfortable in the back country bed the integrated quilt is super comfy you can. Tuck it around you to be more like a traditional sleeping bag or you can open. It all the way up if you need to vent on. Warmer nights there’s even convenient hand pockets on the inside of that quilt my worry with. This design initially was that it wouldn’t hold in enough body heat but. There’s actually a stretch cord so when you need to seal in your heat a little bit more you just cinch it up tight both. Sides of the bag kind of come in and. Then there’re no drafts I’ve been using a. Backcountry bed for over a year and I’ve put it to the test i can vouch that it’s. Warm and cozy and true to the temperature rating this is a 20 degree. Bed but keep en ratings in mind before. Taking it out the comfort rating here is. Closer to 28 degrees with a proper. Sleeping pad underneath to insulate you. From the ground there’s a sleeping pad. Sleeve to so you won’t find yourself slowly drifting off of your pad at night. It keeps you situated right on top of. That pad even if you toss and turn you’ll notice that the bottom of the. Backcountry bed is not insulated and this is the part of the bag that gets. Compressed by your body weight so sierra. Designs saved a little bit of weight and bulk and remove — that insulation but don’t worry the. Foot box and underneath of your legs is fully insulated to keep those tootsie’s. Warm possibly my favorite feature is the. Foot vent it’s completely sealed and it. Holds in your heat but if you need to vent and cool off your feet at night just pop them out of the vent underneath and your feet are free to move around. The women’s version here is perfect for. Someone who’s up to five eight I’m five. Six and it’s the perfect size for me the. High quality 700 fill power down packs. Up nicely in the stuff sack and for a. Bag this roomy the pack size is. Impressive the down is dry down so it’ll. Resist moisture and it’ll dry out really fast to keep you warm and cozy throughout your whole trip at a weight of about two and a half pounds this will. Change how you sleep while backpacking it’s the 700 fill 20 degree women’s. Backcountry bed by sierra designs thanks. This is the sierra designs back country quilt 700 fill 20 degree this thing is. Rad i picked one up for myself a while back and have been so happy with it since it’s lightweight versatile warm. And incredibly pack able at only 1 pound. 14 ounces this 20 degree version is. Great for three season ounces counting backpackers obviously this is different. From your traditional sleeping bag but it still grants a lot of comfort when you’re out in the hills the mentality is just that you get this wide open backside to allow the quilt to drape. Over a sleeping pad which is the main source of your lower insulation anyway so why would you need all that extra. Sleeping bag bulk the quilt is extended. In length and super wide at these upper wings to accommodate many different sized users at around 6 1 i find this to. Be super comfortable on my sleeping pads the bags outer shell is a 20 v ripstop. Polyester and the inner liner is a 15. Denier nylon so it’s a bit lighter the materials are ultra light, so they can. Pack down appropriately inside those. Baffles you get a 700 fill down that’s actually treated this dry down performs. Far better than your standard down especially in wet conditions it will. Retain its loft and insulation if it gets a little wet it’ll stay dry or. Longer to begin with and it dries out faster if it does get soaked using this. Frequently here on the humid east coast that wet weather performance is a lifesaver some of the main standout features that. I’ve really come to appreciate on this thing are the insulated foot box the corner hand pockets and especially the. Hideaway hoods first the wrapped foot box. Feels more like your traditional sleeping bag which is excellent at keeping your feet and your lower legs fully insulated that’s usually where i get the coldest so having that wrapped is essentially the hand pockets at the. Corners just let you move this thing around really easily without losing your grip or having to worry about it you can roll onto your stomach or on your side easily and then tuck these corners or if you really need to batten it down the. Hood though has probably been the most valuable i found that if the temp drops. In that chill starts to sneak through you can kind of tuck your head into the hood it really helps seal things up and provide a bit more over-the-shoulder coverage and insulation the quilt is. Rated 220 degrees but sierra designs lists the actual comfort rating at around 28 degrees that’s still pretty. Close keep in mind you’ll want a good sleeping pad with a good r-value with. Any quilt like this because that backside is completely open I’ve used my. Quote for everything from ultralight multi-day a sense in the tetons to car. Camping trips to west virginia I’ve even brought it along when i just needed the couch surf at a friend’s place for a night or two the quilt does come with a. Stuff sack for packing into your pack. And also a loose mesh storage sack for. Long-term storage it packs down so small and is incredibly. Light so it’s certainly worth having in your arsenal it’s the sierra designs back country quilt 720 degree thanks for. Watching if you have any additional questions about the gear that you just saw feel free to visit back country edge comm to get in touch with me or one of. A unique design and a warm compressible. Down insulation the back country bed duo. 602 season is a great bag for couples. Looking to go backpacking or camping in. Warmer weather let’s take a look at its design and what makes these so special first i want to take a look at the. Materials and what makes up the back country bed so overall we’ve got. Very lightweight materials and an insulation that is very warm and compressible the insulation is a 600. Fill as the name suggests duck dry down. So that dry down means that it is treated with a water resistant treatment so traditional down is known for its. Insulation and its warmth to weight ratio but if it gets wet it tends to. Fail that dry down treatment makes sure. That this down will perform even in wet conditions so it is treated like i. Mentioned to retain its loft even if it. Where to get wet it dries out faster if. It does become wet and it stays drier. Longer so it resists that moisture longer so it definitely has a lot of benefits over the traditional down the. Shell and liner material on this bag are a 30 d polyester rip stop so that is a. Very soft material but it is still. Lightweight and compressible so it can really smash down pretty small the shape. Of the back country beds is what makes them unique there are no zippers. On this sleeping bag so the elimination. Of those zippers creates a really interesting sleeping system you’ve got a. Really wide catenary opening here so easy to get into easy to get out of just. Like a bed at home unlike a traditional sleeping bag and integrated on the. Inside there is a smaller comforter or. Kind of blanket so you can actually remove that not completely but it will. Fold back and see that really large wide. Opening definitely easy for two people to get in and out this comforter does. Tuck underneath the edges here so it is a slightly smaller cut so you tuck it under the edges so if you really need to cocoon yourself in there you certainly can but it allows you a lot. More freedom with your bag so you can. Use these integrated hand pockets to maneuver the blanket as you need to and when you’re shifting or moving throughout the night it’ll stay with you. It won’t just slide off it stays very comfortable so it’s a really easy to use. System it’s a really convenient and provides a lot of comfort for those warmer weather adventures this bag does. Have two separated sleeping pads sleeves. So it is designed to kind of integrate with sleeping pads you can easily do that there are buttons on each side that you can unleash to allow that to expand. A little bit more so you can put a thicker pad in there if you want to but. It really works with any regular sleeping pads very convenient system. There and it ensures that you won’t roll off the pad during the night so definitely a benefit to the system sierra designs does include a stuff sack. And a storage sack with this back country.
