Hey you guys how we do I’m actually standing quite far away from the camera today this is not the best framing but that’s because we’re talking about b’s trousers or pants depending on what you want to call them these are made by helly hansen and these are the odin trousers they reach out 160 pounds and. They’re a new release for 2018 i was. Actually asked to demo them earlier in the year and here i am now giving you a. Full review what i like and what i don’t necessarily get on with these. Trousers just because i want to help you make a decision as to whether or not these are the right pants for you when you’re out about in the wild so let’s. Start with the colors then you can get male and female specific fits these are this is one of the female colors this is the ebony but it also comes in blue and gray which is really great because it’s got a variety there depending on whether you’re a wildlife photographer you probably want to blend in but that’s if you’re a mountaineer blue all the way so. That’s kind of coloring, and we’ve looked at price there as well so this is made of four-way stretch easy soft shell fabric it really means you’ve got that dynamic movement we’ve got articulated knees as various things here they’re really designed to allow the user maximum ability and comfort this is very soft fabric but it’s also watered. Repellent it is a breathable and it’s wind proof can i testify that all of. Those are true mostly water repellency i. Because they really don’t breathe as much as i would like them to yes i get warm quite easily but in these kind of conditions or anything just a slightly cooler i probably stick loyally to my montane terra trousers check out my review for those i actually love those trousers so for me these are perhaps they look cooler where the trousers even though they’re designed and sold as all year round trousers i guess it just depends on how your body works but for me they’re not as breathable i was i would like them to be wind proof though i would also take that books they are very wind proof you know I’ve used these up on hills and things where it’s been. Blowing a gale and i found that I’ve been quite comfortable actually but my torso has been my main issue probably because I’ve not had something was wind proof to put on but these trousers are great which is ideal because it means I’m insulated and warm and it means i can just crack on with whether I’m shooting or whatever I’m doing and not worry about getting too cool so breath ability tick my main features then of those trousers let’s start with pocket, so we’ve got three main pockets you’ve got the first two on the hips they’re kind of just normal pockets these are quite warm actually almost hand warming pockets even though i don’t think they’re designed to be but i can fit my whole hand in their very easily so therefore i could fit phone as snacks camera batteries whatever i want nice and comfortably in there on the hip. We’ve got this ykk zip exactly the same as the two on the hip pockets actually the hair on the thigh this ykk zip is a. Different color but also the pockets a. Vertical pocket which is quite nice because what we could do is fit an os map in here and just have the top sticking out which i really quite like means it’s handy when I’m on the go or i could put a guide book or something in here it all fits nice and comfortably and it doesn’t rub because of the soft fabric so i do like that one notes with the soft fabric though you know I’ve only needs for about six months and i am noticing a bit of piling which is a shame if I’m honest what i really would have liked to see is some sort of reinforced knees or bottom the area that i main kind of contact points with rocco is the ground because those are the areas that I’m actually seeing the slight piling I’m really nitpicking here you can barely see it but over time it’s just gonna increase so i thought i just mentioned that if we come down to the legs then. What we’ve got here is kind of three main things that i think are quite cool the first one in this little popper so i can tighten the cuff around my ankle. Just kind of aid insulation or whatever i want to do that for it’s just quite a nice to have that option we’ve also got this zip here which. Comes basically halfway up my calf which is quite awesome actually it means i can freely roll these trousers up if it gets quite warm again breath ability so perhaps rolling them up is an easier option also i can just get my boots on. And off quite easily it’s just nice to have that you can just get a bit of ventilation there as well perhaps if you wanted to go sixty stars get some flares. In which is kind interesting and so yeah you’ve got these big zips they’re just great to have and the final thing is kind of like a secret of these trousers that is tucked away underneath here this is a little bootlace grip so you. Can attach it to your boot lace like this and basically it’s kind of like means the trousers act as a gator so. Perhaps if you’re out on a quite a june morning weather that the surrounding foliage is quite wet you’re just gonna stop that moisture getting into your boots or of course if you’re wearing it underneath the gator then it’s just gonna add insulation that little bit further and just prevent moisture getting in so it’s quite nice to have that and i like how it just tucks away quite neatly as well coming up to the. Hips then we’ve got belt loops which is quite cool if you’re a belt user perhaps you like to wear belts when you’re out backpacking you’ve got a specific backpacking belt so there’s a belt loop you’re covered don’t worry, but they’re for people like me we’re also covered because what if you don’t like belts well basically what helen hansen have done is they’ve got these kind of velcro elastic bits which you can pull nice and tightly, so they attach to the back of the trousers and then you can secure in. Place with the velcro and basically it just acts as a belt so it tightens it up around the hips these are not gonna fall down I’m notorious for having my trousers just riding low because they’re just always holding that and because on both sides it’s just quite nice so you can tighten that up and fix it also means you can loosen it if you perhaps you’ve had a nice big pipe meal so. That’s just a really nice feature on the hips coming around to the back we can. See that there’re no pockets on the back so for those of you guys who like to keep your wallet in their perhaps if you’re using these for casual use sorry not gonna happen and then also we’ve got. The oden logo here on the leg as well quite a nice striking color on all of. The colours is actually really obvious i do quite like the color choices that halle hampson are designed with these trousers it’s just nice to have a variety of different options there depending on what you’re doing as we mentioned earlier so to be honest guys that’s pretty much it i mean trousers are ours let’s be honest but you know for me then the main things to take away is the breath ability is not quite as quality as i would like so that’s why i stick to using these in wintry conditions although they’re not winter pants so i just need to weigh up whether.
