The air vent fabric is really nice and lightweight and durable but it also is awesome for wicking so it takes all the moisture from your skin and moves it to the surface of the fabric and evaporates really quickly. It’s also treated with poly gene which really helps reduce odors so I’m always. Welcome back in the tent at night. Another awesome feature is it has this stow pocket. I usually just stash a gel or my car keys in if I’m out for a run echo piece is my go-the shirt from being a base layer on a long climb to all I need if I’m out on a run, it’s just awesome.

Okay guys like i said today i get to review a trio of tech tees these are all. Three from outdoor research tech tees in. My opinion are probably one of the most. Important versatile and just. All-around pieces that you need for all seasons i wear these spring summer and. Fall and then they can also be great base layers in the winter so for those. Of you that don’t know I’m sure everybody knows what tech t is but the tech t is a trim fitting athletic. T-shirt that is generally not made of cotton just because cotton is not a performance fabric and doesn’t dry quickly it also just doesn’t have that great form fit and performance that you’re looking for. That you get with synthetic materials so. The first step in the trio is the. Outdoor research igniter this tech. T is probably the most comfortable of. The three I’m going to review in this video they call this a heathered. Material I’m not quite sure really what. Heathered means but to me it just means that it’s soft so this is an all synthetic but this one feels the most. Like cotton so if you’re looking for the. Most comfortable t-shirt i would go with. The igniter it also happens to be the most trim fit so all three of these are. Mediums and four for this medium. This is definitely the most trim fit it’s the tightest and the arms and in the armpits so it just depends on what. You’re looking for as far as fit but. This is the trim stuv the three and this is the most comfortable so if you’re doing maybe an activity that isn’t the. Most high output or you don’t need the. The Highest performance as far as wicking properties breath ability quick drying if. You’re just looking for something a little bit more like a t-shirt but still has performance properties of a tec. Teeth look at the outdoor research igniter. Okay this is the echo from outdoor. Research the echo is by far the lightest. This shirt is unbelievable just. Because it really feels like you’re wearing nothing so when i want to. Do something that i almost don’t want to wear a shirt but i just want to wear a shirt maybe for abrasion protection with. A pack or if it’s super hot out and i. Don’t want to get sunburned I’ll throw on a shirt this is the one I’m gonna look for because this is just the absolute lightest of the three that I’m. Reviewing today again the echo that this. Has kind of dual colorway a nice light. Blue with this high visibility yellow so this would be a great option for a running shirt as well especially just so you can be seen on the road as. Far as fit i would say this is actually. Probably the loosest or the largest of. The cuts it’s definitely looser in the sleeves. And it’s a little bit baggy er in the. Waist so it just has that loose airy feeling to it really feels like you’re wearing nothing this is a this is also a great piece like i said this is the one. I’m gonna go for it when i don’t really want to wear a shirt but i either have to wear a shirt or i just want some sort of protection that a shirt offers I’m gonna look at the echo again super high. Performance and this pattern this. Fabric pattern its kind of square. Crosshatch pattern very high performance. Again these are all quick-drying very. Breathable so yeah this is another great. Option again the lightest okay guys this. Is the last shirt in the trip today this is the outdoor research gage now the gage in my opinion is the highest performing shirt of the three this. Fabric is like magic it’s super breathable it dries amazingly. Quick i think the fit is probably in. My opinion it’s probably the best it kind of combines between the igniter and the echo kind of in-between fit so not. So tight that it’s tight in the arms and. Tighten the armpits but it’s also not baggy in the waist. Either so i think this is the probably the best fit as far as performance is concerned and this fabric. Is also probably the highest performance as far as far as breath ability quick-drying just overall this is what you think of. When you think of a high performance tech tee now it’s not the most comfortable and. It’s not the most lightweight so you’re gonna have to strike that balance between what do you want it to feel like on your skin kind of that on the skin feel also are you willing to sacrifice. Just a little bit of weight it just has a little bit of a heavier weight not as. Much as an airy feel as the echo but i. Think the strikes are good balance and this is the highest performing of. The three it also has the most detail as. Kind of the exposed stitching has kind. Of a pretty cool design may be more of a runners look in the back not so much like an outdoor sports like rock. Climbing or mountain bike look it has more of a runners look but this is. A great one super high performance if I’m going to be doing a high output activity or something like. Climbing in a gym that’s general a little warmer than the outside I’ll go for this one just because it. Dries so fast and it’s probably the. The Highest performance in my opinion overall all three shirts are great now. My only gripe with all three is that. They run really large for me i like tech. Tees to be slim fit i don’t want them to. Be big and bulky like a traditional just street wear or street cotton t-shirt i. Want them to be form fit because for me performance is number one when it comes to this style t-shirt so i had to size all of these down everything I’ve ever reviewed for outdoor research all the tops the jackets the shirts they’ve all been larges all three of these that i. Reviewed in this video are all mediums i originally got the largest, and they were way too big so if you want something a. Little higher performance and you like the trim fit that you kind of see on me in these videos be sure to size down one you normally would get in a typical t-shirt so that’s my only gripe is the. Fit be sure to size down but other than that all three are great different applications we’re looking for comfort lightweight or high performance i think that they pretty much have the whole the. We’re taking a look at the Patagonia Strider pro shorts. These shorts offer enhanced protection and lots of storage so they help keep you out on the trail longer. Let’s take a look at their construction and their features.

These shorts are constructed with a blue sign approved 100% polyester fabric so it is a smooth ultralight breathable fabric. Taking a look at the storage options we have on the shorts. We’ve got five pockets throughout and four of them are these flat lying really stretchy pockets. So that would be a great place to store gels or any small energy foods, and they are very stretchy so they’re designed to fit some ultralight windbreakers, for example, the Patagonia Houdini jacket. On the back we have one zippered pocket and that is a card-sized pocket so if you need to keep those essentials on you can store those there and make sure they’re nice and secure. They won’t go anywhere. So some simple but really convenient storage on the shorts. We’ve also got a waist drawcord and a kind of neat feature that you can do with that drawcord. You can have it routed on the outside or you can route it on the inside depending on your preference and what’s most comfortable for you so it’s optional where you want to use that drawcord. These shorts are a regular fit and they do have a 7-inch inseam so they are pretty short. They are designed for running and one last thing: that logo on the front is a reflective logo so will help you be seen at night. This is the first time I really run in the Better Than Naked jacket for an extended period. My first impressions are: it’s a great jacket in terms of being ideal for conditions in this area, in the French Alps like a morning like this morning.

I went for a run and it’s cool misty some wind, and it’s just perfect because it blocks the wind. It’s breathable not getting hot in it and your core temperature kind of stays in that ideal state or you’re not sweating but you’re not getting cooled either. I think to be able to regulate your core and to be able to stay comfortable is really important. And it’s so lightweight that when it does warm up enough that you want to strip it off you don’t even realize when you tie it around the waist or stuff it in your pocket. It can’t even tell us there even when you’re wearing. It’s like a layer that you don’t even realize is really on you.

The feel of the fabric is way different than anything I’ve worn before it doesn’t. It doesn’t feel like you’re your typical wind layer. It’s super comfy, just got done with a nice uphill. Warm me up and this layer is ideal because it’s so light and just strip it off when you warm up a bit tire around the waist and go.

Okay guys welcome back and today i wanted to do a short review it’s a pair. Of shorts i recently purchased it is. From the north face they’re a 7-inch inseam short it is called and the name. Is long for shorts but it’s called the north face better than naked long haul. Shorts what their main thing is it has a. Compression layer underneath and then. Just your normal standard short on the top overall I’m very pleased with them. I’ll go over some of the details with you and what makes it their long haul. Short has normal standard looking a mesh. Front back sides has a little mesh events lightweight the back has a. Zipper pocket pretty standard you can put a couple goos you could probably put keys some money credit cards id whatever you’d like to keep in your pockets i mean that one is zippered on each side. Of that you’ll see that it has two mesh pockets here as well they would hold. Probably two or three goos each or i like to leave them blank empty if I’m. Running and it’s cold or you know i have something else with me I’ll uh my hands. Warm up enough I’ll pull the gloves off stick one in each side and it’s held them well so it’s a pretty decent sized pocket it’s got a little elastic to it so it holds things pretty snug and it doesn’t bother you as you run I’ve noticed another feature of the short. That i like i said it’s got the. Compression with some little grippers on it the rippers do okay they’re not great, but they do okay each thigh has a mesh. Pocket inside as well so it’s sits down. On your quad there I’d say on the front. The lateral side there outside one side. It’s a one big pocket you could probably get a phone in there if you wanted a bar a bunch of goo whatever you like to carry with you as you run I’ll carry your usually baggy updates or something and that thing holds it really well the. Other side on the left leg has another. Pocket as well it’s actually divided into three sections she could hold smaller things in there and hold it a little tighter most people have imagined which just shove a goo in each one of those so in all you could probably get a good dozen goos in here if you were going that long i think it’s a great short one. Think about it the fit i thought was a when you do put them ongoing up. Over the hips a little tight the elastic man doesn’t stretch as much as many running shorts but once you get them all, and they fit great no worries haven’t even had a tie only they fit snug i haven’t noticed that. They overheat at all you know I’ve never run with two layers on you know with the. Compression and they’re normal short no heating no holding of sweat I’ve noticed at all they work really well they run. About sixty-five dollars from the north face i found on ebay brand-new for forty. Five so I’m sure you could find them elsewhere on the sale something but um. As far as that goes they’re well worth the money to me the compression it’s. About as tight as just a normal pair of a running you know underwear like if. You’d like to wear nike pro combat or you know under armour the tight compression underwear it’s about that it’s not anything extra you know constricting on their anyway that’s to. Review of course both the emblems on the. Front and back are reflective for safety they do shine in the dark anyway that’s. A review on that just something simple i thought I’d share with you i would definitely think like in my next alter or something you could probably use this. And a handheld water bottle and be fine wouldn’t have to have a pack or anything else and you could resupply at stations. If you need to but like i said with the capacity of this thing holds if you wanted to load it down with just food and goos i mean that would do you for the least probably a 50k maybe even a. Flashdrive fabric which is really good at keeping you dry and moving that moisture away from your body better than. Insurance are actually available in a couple different models these are your basic shorts, and they have five inch inseams you can also buy what’s called a better than naked split shorts which actually have a split along the side a little higher on the thighs. That’s what you’re comfortable with and you can get those in a three and a half inch inseam or a five-inch inseam although the split shorts are available only in the north face block type of coloring you can get these also in a coral blue version let’s have a look. Hi, it’s Brad from backcountry skiing Canada! Today we’re here at Whitewater Ski Resort to talk about the North Face Thermoball hoodie that I’ve gone on here. This is a new synthetic jacket from the North Face and it’s a little bit different. Its insulation mimics down in a way traditional synthetic jackets would use long sheets of synthetic insulation and thermal ball doesn’t do that primal often vented thermal wall. North Face is now using it in the thermal bulk hoody and what Thermoball is its small tiny little clusters or balls hence the name Thermoball that are inside the baffle.

You can see the jacket has lots of checkerboards pattern baffles here and that’s what contains the thermal ball inside the exterior. The jack is a 15 denier nylon baffle pattern shell and that keeps the Thermoball in place where it needs to be. These little clusters, they provide more loft than traditional synthetic insulation and therefore more warmth which is evident in this jacket it’s very thin but it keeps me very warm given the size.

It’s a very light jack, it’s only 400 grams and it excels in damp conditions wear down traditionally doesn’t so if there’s a bit of moisture the synthetic insulation will handle that a lot better. It’s a really simple mid layer. There is a hood obviously and it zips up nice and tight. But there is no adjustability on the hood and it just comes with two-hand warmer pockets and on the inside of the jacket there’s no other pockets or features, so they try to keep it light and clean compact. Down to next to nothing and 400 grams is a nice little lightweight mid-layer that you can take for backcountry skiing or you could use an exterior jacket as well.

I’ve been skiing the resort and this one and it keeps me pretty warm and then in the backcountry you can throw it on when you stop for lunch and that kind of things. Doesn’t work when it gets wet and thermoball will maintain its loft even if it’s not raining those high humidity climates can really just suck the life right out of your down jacket so this thermoball hoody actually has an advantage over down in that regard to me. The fit of this jacket seemed really spot-on about 511 and it was just long. Enough that you could wear it as an outerwear piece but not so bulky that you can’t layer with it and it’s really comfortable to wear all day too so all. hello it’s ty from the outdoor here and. I am wearing the north face or odd hoodie now this is a thermal top that. Can be either worn as a mid layer or in. Its own right to give you some warmth on cold days it. Is not waterproof and it is not wind proof but it is warm the fabric of the. Hoodie is 95% polyester and 5% in. Lasting so that enables it to be very. Very stretchy as you can see and in the. Arms as well so is a an excellent hoodie. If you want that extra layer of warmth. And you are doing something really active like climbing scrambling or. Moving fast over technical ground it. Gives you that freedom of movement and as you can see that stretch ability and. Nabel’s you to move pretty well it is. What the north face described as a gridded fleece top and you can see on. The inside that gridded pattern. Which provides the warmth it captures your body heat and holds it to keep you. Warm so as well as being quite free and that. Elastic it gives you that warmth. Wherever you may be the boren hoody has a hood that’s why. It’s called a hoodie which does up quiet. Neatly to the chin the outside of around. The face is elastic but it’s not particularly tight so it doesn’t put in. Particularly well so there’s quite a bit of space still there and even but it can. Get a climbing helmet on top of climbing hem it will fit on top of this quite comfortably and quite easily the sleeves. Are elasticated as well and again there’s quite a bit. Looseness there it’s not the right word i mean if you wanted to put gloves on excellent if not well help keep your. Wrist bit cool or i guess if that’s what you want to do there is a chest pocket. Napoleon chest pocket which is not particularly large but you will get something like your phone or garmin in there and then there are two good hand. Pockets either side here which have got. Plenty of room in them and you can easily get a map or something like that inside the hem is elasticated slightly. Not major it’s slightly elastic 80 again. But it’s a good fit so it covers quite well it is very comfortable to wear and. Definitely has that sense of freedom it. Today I’m back with a review on the Under Armour undeniable crew socks. Alright, so the undeniable crew socks are new socks from Under Armour for the 2014 line. You can find these about anywhere in a lot of different colors. In this review, I make a lot of references to pass socks so I’m gonna go ahead and mention those socks right now.

These are the Under Armour ignites. If I mentioned the ignites that’s what I’m talking about I might mention alter-ego socks and maybe the New Birth socks. If I mention any of those you know what I’m talking about. The main difference between any other Under Armor socks that I’ve ever reviewed before definitely is the new strategic cushioning that’s been putting into these socks and what strategic cushioning is basically. I mean it’s as simple as how I’m saying it they put in special areas of cushioning that adds more or less to areas that it’s going to have a higher impact.  You’re gonna just have even more cushioning in certain areas such as the front of the foot here and then here on the heel. So you have more padding in these socks on the front here.

The front of socks and then back here on the heel and I would say the cushioning feels a little bit more durable than say the ignite socks which I felt like after a while. They’d kind of stretch out and kind of where these are. I’ve worn these for maybe about six months now using them on and off. The cushioning on these really isn’t that great. I’ve used these a couple of times now and I’m been pretty satisfied with how these are cushioned. To compare them I guess Nike leaked socks would be probably one of the more cushioned than paper crew socks.

Those are another very cushioned sock but these I think can compete with that. Now there’s going to be a bit padding up here on the top of the toes but you’ve also got ventilation areas going all throughout here. One other point that we’ll make is this kind of these little x patterns going through here and that is the embedded arch support that’s something that hasn’t been put in Under Armor crews before or any sock for that matter. I don’t believe the embedded arch support is something that I really like in these socks because I feel like when I put these socks on.

This is kind of around the mid part of your foot and it gives you kind of lockdown fit. It gives you kind of like a compressive supportive material otherwise that I haven’t seen in socks for its just like a little bit tighter in this area. I mean all it is just fabric. I don’t know if there’s really any technology into these but I can just feel that they’re a more supportive sock as far as cushioning goes than previous models such as the ignite socks. I guess we can kind of compare some other socks here. Like I was saying I definitely believe they have more cushioning than the Alter-Ego socks. The Alter-Ego socks have kind of thin ignite. I mean it’s almost exactly like I would say it’s got to be the same material. I mean this has held up a little better but I’ve used these more but there’s definitely more cushioning in these in the undeniable socks, and then we’ll talk about the burst which I think are more or less you know just an updated ignite sock. But one thing these socks like it’s the strategic cushioning is something that’s unique. In these socks. You got cushioning up, here you got a ventilation area. Here you’ve got your embedded arch support all throughout their more cushioning back here and then you know just your simple Armor.

This year as far as the fabric used in this sock I guess what kind of take some look into a little bit of the detail of these socks like I was saying earlier going to be the come in a lot of different colors. A couple of solid colors which I really like I haven’t seen. I just know they’re coming out with a lot of colors in these. They’re pretty customizable to school colors or whatever kind of look you’re trying to pull off one thing that is also new comparing them to other Under Armor socks. Some socks then I’ve seen from Under Armour haven’t done this. They haven’t done a lot, I remember they did it with the cam newton crew socks. They had written right and left or left and right specific socks. That’s definitely something that’s you know like the Adidas crews the team speeds and then there’s the Nike Crews that also or the Nike Vapor crews as well as the Elite socks. All have the right and left specific socks. I don’t think it really matters that say left or right. It means the same thing but you know that’s something that’s definitely interesting.

They’ve tried that before and I really didn’t think the socks were really supposed to be right and less specific. They’ve experimented with that before but it does give like a true toe shape like it’s its gonna be flatter up here for your top to your big toe and then your next biggest toe and then it kind of forms down like how your feet or your toes do. That’s definitely something that’s improved I think this is going to be a good sock. Now I would recommend these for any type of running training.
