Sawyer Products Waterproof Spray For Tents
For use on clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other outdoor gear, Sawyer Permethrin repels or kills disease-spreading ticks (Lyme disease), mosquitoes (West Nile and Zika viruses) and more than 55 other kinds of insects. Perfect for camping, backpacking, hunting, travel, backyard BBQs, picnics, and more, Permethrin insect and tick repellent adds an odorless layer of protection to shirts, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, sleeping bags, tents, netting, and other outdoor, camping, hunting, and travel gear. A University of Rhode Island study (2017) found that people wearing Permethrin-treated shoes and socks were 73.6 times less likely to have a tick bite than those wearing untreated footwear. Using it on outdoor gear also helps reduce the mosquito population in your camp and prevents ticks from attaching to you. Permethrin spray bonds to fabric fibers for up to 6 weeks (42 days) of exposure to sun and air or 6 washings. Specially formulated not to stain or damage your clothing, other fabrics, gear, and equipment, it’s odorless after drying and is as effective as 100% DEET. To apply, spray Permethrin directly onto clothing and gear with a slow sweeping motion, keeping the bottle about 6 to 8 inches away, and treating each side of the garment for about 30 seconds. The EPA recommends using 4.5 ounces of Permethrin to spray each outfit (consisting of shirt, pants, and socks). Maximize protection by pairing with Sawyer Picaridin topical repellent for the skin. Since 1984, Sawyer has used technological advancements to create products that keep you outdoors — from the backcountry to the backyard — including insect repellents for both skin and clothing, water filters for camping and emergencies, and sun protection.
- Add a layer of protection to your clothing and gear with Permethrin insect and tick repellent spray — perfect for use on shirts, jackets, pants, socks, shoes, boots, sleeping bags, tents, netting, when outdoors, camping, hunting, or on travel
- Ideal for backpacking, backyard BBQs, and other outdoor activities, it’s effective against more than 55 kinds of insects — from disease-spreading ticks (Lyme disease) and mosquitoes (West Nile and Zika viruses) to chiggers, spiders, mites, and more
- Permethrin spray bonds to fabric fibers for up to 6 weeks or through 6 washings (whichever comes first) and won’t stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces, or outdoor gear; oderless after drying

Greatings Lovecraft Ian’s in this review, insect repellent using permethrin and permethrin czar, very strong plant derivative that allows you to spray it onto your clothing, tents, gear, that sort of thing, and it’s order less. It does not discolor from what we’ve seen on all the stuff we’ve used it for and it kills and repels ticks. Chiggers mites mosquito is pretty much everything for hunting fishing, camping, scouting.
This is the stuff you want to have you put it on and for clothing. It lasts many many cycles for tents that will last up to I think three months. It’s a couple of months anyway. They have a few different bottle sizes and will come in a container that you know has a packaging on it to read how to how to use it. But for the most part you spray it onto your clothing and or your boots or anything and you’re good to go.
It’s pretty simple. You can’t spray it on your skin. You can it’s safe, but again it’s coming from a plant product, but your skin will metabolize this and it will be very ineffective against anything for any wear. Any time frame so again, Sawyer’s uh insect repellent uses permethrin, it’s a really really great product. We use it for the last two years. You can get it on our store and just essential for camping.
This has been our tenant, see you in the games.
For all outdoor enthusiasts, so whether you’re hiking camping, hunting, fishing or traveling abroad, you should always apply permethrin to your clothing and gear as the primary insect repellant before heading out. Our special formula is the only odorless in the longest-lasting four method on the market and it’s been exclusively treating uniforms for the US and Canadian military for almost 30 years.
Permethrin is a synthetic version of naturally occurring pyrethrin, which comes from the chrysanthemum flower. It repels and kills mosquitoes ticks, chiggers and biting flies and over 55 other kinds of insects where permethrin is completely odorless and invisible after it’s dry, it’s just as effective as using 100% deep and one application can last up to 42 days of outdoor exposure or through six washings.
Our permethrin comes in various sizes. A 24 ounce trigger spray that can treat four complete outfits, which is the best value for your money. A 12 ounce trigger spray that can treat two complete outfits and a 9-ounce aerosol spray. Can a complete outfit consists in the shirt, pants and pair of socks and each garment needs three ounces of permethrin to be effective. Permethrin is safe and compatible with almost all fabrics, but it will have an easier time buying you, the soft fabrics like cotton ease, wools and synthetic blends will have a harder time buying you, the fabrics with tighter woven fibers, like rain flies and waterproof shells now I’m going to show you how to apply the permethrin first you’re gonna want to select an outdoor area or a garage.
That’s shielded from the wind, give the bottle a good shake and then lightly moisten the fabric of the garment, with a slow sweeping motion, keeping the bottle about six to eight inches away. A good rule of thumb is to treat each side of the garment for about 30 seconds. Let the garments air dry for two hours. Then you offer protection for 42 days of UV exposure or six washings.
Whichever comes first now, I know you’re, probably wondering what, if my shirt is larger than the average shirt? Well, that doesn’t matter whether you’re a small or at four XL. What matters is the number of molecules applied to your garment and three ounces of formula contains enough from methane molecules to be effective. However, the more molecules you apply, the more protection you will have.
Your tent has the largest surface area in your campsite, so spray your tent with permethrin to help keep the bugs out of your tent and out of your campsite, treat your camp chairs or patio furniture backpacks for more protection, while hiking, no bugs bandanas, hats, sleeping bags and sleeping bag liners make sure you also treat your camo because permethrin las’ and you want to bring home their trophy, not the ticks.
The great thing about permethrin is it follows you as you’re moving, unlike stationary repellents that have to saturate the area before they start working. People have a lot of questions when using permethrin for the first time so I’m going to answer a few of those frequently asked questions. Dear Amy is permethrin harmful to my skin. Sincerely woodsy Whitney, no permethrin is not harmful to the skin.
It’s just not effective on the skin. Dear Amy, what’s with all the warnings on the box sincerely backwoods Brian, the warnings on the box are primarily to protect you during the application. There are dispersants in the formula that give it a nice. Even coat as you apply it- and you don’t want to na all those dispersants so make sure you apply permethrin in a well-ventilated area after its applied there’s nothing to worry about.
Dear ami, Kanna treated garment touch, my skin sincerely campfire Kacie, yes, a treated garment can touch your skin and it is not harmful to the body. As you know, permethrin was developed for the military and therefore the label claims are derived from the military. Since military undergarments consisted of underwear and a white t-shirt, soldiers were instructed not to treat their undergarments with permethrin, because those items would be concealed by their uniform and therefore not effective.
Dear Amy is there anything that permethrin can harm sincerely fly-fishing Freddy, yes, permethrin in its liquid form, is harmful to cats clubber when it’s dry, it’s completely safe, but permethrin is not harmful to dogs and in fact it is used in many tick treatments. It is also harmful to fish and other aquatic organisms, so do not apply for methane directly in the washing machine and do not dump excess permethrin down the drain or in a river once it’s dry and your clothing is bonded to the fabric.
Much like the coloring on your clothing and it will not come off in a river or lake.
Of inches on sportsman’s Channel Sawyer products have played a large role in my success over the years, but none more so than Sawyer’s permethrin insect, repellent Sawyer’s permethrin is a different type of insect, repellent in the way that you treat your clothing rather than use a topical solution on your skin. It’s odorless after drying and last six weeks or up to six washings permethrin, doesn’t harm fabrics or finishes, and that’s important to sportsmen like us that handle a lot of outdoor gear and equipment to treat your clothing and gear hang outside in a well ventilated area.
Spray. All surface area to maximize its effectiveness apply evenly. Roughly three ounces per garment is ideal. It’s best to spray the garment look enough saturation to change the color of the fabric, keep in mind. You can treat boots, packs, hunting, blinds and even tents. Virtually anything fabric. You plan to bring outdoors the more surface area you have treated around you, the better protected you’ll, be from mosquitoes and ticks Sawyer’s permethrin is even used to treat dogs against harmful fleas and ticks be sure to follow Sawyer specific instructions for treating pets.
Sawyer’s permethrin has been a true game changer, not only in my line of work but in everyday use. Thanks for choosing Sawyer will keep you outdoors. Successful hunters tend to keep things simple, treat your gear once with Sawyer insect, repellent and go hunt the rest of the season. Sawyer no ticks, no mosquitoes simply better.
Hi patriots- this is faith from sergeant troyes and today we’re doing a short review of the permethrin insect repellent. This product is not your mama’s everyday dollar store bug spray when sprayed on your clothing. Permethrin will not only repel bugs, but it will actually kill over 55 types of insects. You can use a spray on your tent, your backpack or any other outdoor gear without any stains or odors. One of the coolest features of all is the applications can last through six washes making it well worth your money thanks for watching subscribe, when you need more faith.

So you get no weird scent, while you’re out hiking or adventuring it Ward’s off insects and with clothing it can treat one bottle, treats up to two outfits and outfit is considered a shirt, a pair of pants and socks, and it can last up to six washings.
So it does last a fairly long time when used for clothing, if you’re treating your tent, it can last up to 40 days in direct sunlight. So that gives you an extra barrier of protection around the campsite. So it adds a lot of convenience. Take great care in following the manufacturer’s instructions on the product. Tents and other gear can be subjected to a lot of abuse when we’re out on the trail. Abrasion and high winds are both challenges that our gear has to stand up to, but there’s another factor which can seriously affect your gears abilities to deal with these challenges, and that is uv radiation. We all know that strong, sunlight at high altitudes or during the summer months can have a seriously damaging effect on our skin, but many people don’t realize how much it affects fabrics.
Also, in just two weeks of summertime exposure, synthetic fabrics can lose up to half their strength, making them much more vulnerable to tearing and puncture tent and gear. Solid proof protects your gear from uv radiation, whilst at the same time adding water dependency. A single application can double the useful life of a tent fabric, delaying the need to replace what is often expensive equipment, tent and gear sided proof is easy and safe to use at home since, like all nick wax products, it’s non-flammable and fluorocarbon free for best results, rinse the fabric first with water to remove any dirt.
There’s no need to dry before treatment simply apply the solder proof evenly to the fabric with a spray brush or sponge using a damp cloth take care to wipe off surplus product as you go along once your gear is dried off, it will be protected from both water and ultraviolet.
