All right welcome to the hefty hoofers channel um. Today, I’m going to be doing a product review on the water buffalo hydration, hiking backpack. I didn’t see any other youtube videos on this backpack, but for some reason it is one of the top selling backpacks on uh under hydration packs on amazon. So I thought I’d just do a quick rundown of what I’m gonna use it for and uh.
I couldn’t find any videos showing really what the storage capacity is and stuff like that. So I thought I’d show you guys that quick, I’m actually going to try it out today go on one of my favorite hikes. It’s a quick half hour, half mile hike um! So we’ll get right to it. Here is the backpack, the water buffalo um in the white.
That’s the only option I had available to me on amazon at least what I have inside I will be carrying the gopro on the front. Strap will get clipped on with the gopro clamp here, we’ll put that on the front, and then I won’t have to wear like a chest rig or anything like that, which is why I actually bought the backpack, and I have a habit of not bringing enough water with me, and this has a two liter water bladder in it.
I don’t like drawstring backpacks. They tend to hurt and rub my neck weird, so I thought I’d try out something with like good straps and try that out, but we’ll go ahead and change the camera angle here and get more of the table view. So I can show you what I have packed inside here all right. I really like the styling. It is really nice.
Small and sleek um got this little band here. You can uh strap something there. Maybe a towel or whatever floats your boat, but what I plan on using for because I do some gopro footage and just some hiking footage, normally just kind of track. My exercise and stuff like that, if you want to see more of the exercise that I’ve been doing and the 30 day challenge, I’m currently on, go to my channel, I’m doing a 30 day challenge trying to lose 30 pounds but uh so inside you have one main compartment so on the zipper I tr attack attach my uh airpods airpod pros.
Take those off get that out of the way and inside this main compartment is your water bladder, and that’s all that goes in there and that feeds through the side here out and gets hooked to the uh. The backpack strap just there, but um inside the water bladder hangs on these little tassels, so that will help support the weight instead of it just being a bag of water in the in the bag itself.
You know kind of just being pushed to the bottom by the way to the water it’ll actually support itself via these little tassel doohickey things. So that’s all that’s in there I’ll fill up the water in a little bit, but then in the only other compartment. It just has this little velcro right here that you just pop open and inside.
I have just a few mounting accessories, so I have a little neck for my gopro. I carry a little benchmade 940 because you never know when you need a knife, and then I have in this little plastic bag. An iphone 5s which I use for video recording. It takes 1080 footage still which uh you know for basically a camera. You can’t go wrong with uh something simple something cheap that you can replace easily, so just a little iphone 5s a couple of spare sd cards and then on this side or wrapped up in there.
I have just a separate gopro battery um, so a second gopro battery in there as well, and then that’s all yep, that’s all I have in the main compartment, so we’ll go ahead and take this out on the trail, we’ll see if it’s comfortable um has this little twist twisting bite valve so right now it’s open you twist! It alright, that’s closed you twist! It that’s open, doesn’t do a lot.
It feels like there should be more travel there, but uh. I haven’t tried this out too much yet or oh. I haven’t tried this out at all, but we’re gonna go ahead and fill it up now to put the water bladder back in, I like to hold it up, so you can kind of just kind of get your hand under it slide it into the pouch. There’s like uh, there’s a little separator in here, so you want to get underneath that separator and then shake her down in there.
So you get underneath there’s a little separator in there. I’ll get a better angle here. A little more light would help. So you can see this little separator right here. That’s what I’m touching um! That’s you get it underneath that, and then you lock it into these tassels right here and that will hold it in place. Really well close that up.
I don’t like to store anything inside there um. I don’t want to poke a hole in the bladder and there’s just not that much space in there. So the only really extra storage you have is on the outer pouch and then it hooks into this little clip here. Um put it through this little strap and then you clip it right there and that’s your little bite valve so we’ll go ahead and get this loaded back up with my camera supplies and go try her out all right, I’m at the top of brady’s bluff out here in trempealeau.
I just basically did this hike. It is 90. I think it’s 88 or 90 degrees right now and it says uh it feels like 96 and uh. I did have to test out this new water hydration bag, and I carried it all the way up. Here. It’s been uh over a mile hike which, if you are a hiker, you know a mile up. A hill is quite a long ways, but I can’t complain anything about the bag.

Hey guys, it’s time later again, today: I’m Camelback, hydro pack, it’s a 50 ounce capacity, water bladder and it’s got one pocket zipper, it’s about the size of a normal, pants pocket and then down here. The white stripe is reflective and it’s got three notches, so you can put carabiners or whatever you want in there and instead of this being velcro for the 2012 model, you take it, you pull it back like you pull it, this way, pull it back and then up because then it just holds on retention.
There’s like I said this is the 50-ounce bladder with the big port thing and when I was looking at other ones, this looked really like rubber, but is actually a really hard plastic and it’s very nice and the hook also up here. It’s also very nice. It’s very thick feels very rigid and on the previous models it didn’t have a hook to hold it. So if you wanted to hang this in a tray or something you can just put some paracord to dinner and hook it to a tree and then to close it, you just take it push it back.
Like this, just put it on, it’s got one thing up here, so you hook it on a tree or something, and it’s got the white stripes right here and right there or reflective -, and it’s got adjustable. Hi guys and welcome to simplify today I’m going to go through the features of the Camelback hydro, vac hydration rucksack now. The key points to save right now is the actual rucksack itself or the reservoir is at one and a half liters, and you do have a little front storage pocket on the front there. But what I’m going to talk about now is obviously the reservoir itself.
So, as you can see, it’s nice and easy to get in and out so all you got to do is unhook the front part there take off the velcro and away you go in and out really simple, really easy to do, and you know whether the actual bladder is full or empty, and all you need to make sure is this. This clip system here goes actually at the front part of the rucksack and as well as this here Clips, underneath that now, basically that’s secure in the actual locking system as well, basically means that the actual Camelbak itself, when it’s empty, won’t drop to the actual bottom part of the bag.
It also means it’s going to distribute more evenly over your back and just to give it that little bit of extra protection. You’ve got a nice clip there, especially if it’s going to be raining all that sort of things you know just gives it a bit of repellency, then obviously, the hose itself feeds through the shoulder strap here, which then clips on to obviously the camel back clip there, which is really easy to undo and to obviously clip off what you will notice.
Is this lock system on the actual bite valve now, if I just show you quickly, obviously that’s the bite valve over time, obviously, while you’ll be biting on that, that’s basically going to slowly loosen up and widen. So what the lock system does, if I just do that now, that is basically shut off the water completely to the bite valve, so that will prevent you from getting any drips of water coming out of the bite valve going on to your shirt and it’s a really basic, simple feature.
But it’s a really good and really handy feature and I’m glad coming back. I’ve actually popped it onto this bag itself. So, while we’re on the back, let’s talk about it. So, as you can see, it’s a very standard, soft cushioning back. If the actual stream line should we say down the back there, pretty much will give you a nice shape along your back, and so it should mold to to.
You know, obviously how you position your bag on your back again. What that will also do is create a channel using obviously the strip sections and there which will enable cool air to actually go on your back keeping a back nice and cool, and you know hopefully stop some of it. You know probably preventing it from calming all sweaty.
Obviously, on the basis of sweat, the strap system itself is a nice mesh material, so breathability, it again is a real key factor with this. So if you’re going to be using it for running as well as cycling, it’s going to be a really nice handy bag for your bag, for you to actually have and that’s pretty much the actual bag system as I tried that, as I said, they’ve tried to make it as basic as possible, more lightweight as possible.
So obviously things can’t really go wrong with it. Obviously, at the beginning, I did mention a little storage pocket, which I will now demonstrate to you now. So, if you open up there, it is quite literally big enough to say your keys and a bit of change or if you’ve got a small small wallet or on here that or a small little GPS system in there you could pop it in there and then away you go skinnet just keep everything safe and secure for you a nice little feature.
Lastly, I like to talk about. Is this actual button part here now as you’ll be able to see the actual? The actual tag itself is reflective. Someone lights shine on it specially.
