  • Lowe alpine a boy out a new range called alters this year this is the 52 litre. What low happened decided to do with this package is just instead of being a really lightweight pack for the backpacking or a dedicated climbing pack this is the all-rounder really tough durable materials that can take a rack being shoved in there and ice axes strapped on the sides and poles shoved in the pockets but also brilliant. Carrying systems and proper back support. So if you are taking it for longer treks or multi-day sort of backpacking and camping wild this is absolutely gonna do both brilliantly one pack does all i think one of the key features of this rucksack is the back system not many that we have in the shop come packaged where the hip belt and the shoulder. Straps actually keep their shape that just shows that it’s so body fitting and hugs the hips beautifully emily all the others always sick wow fold in but this just carries the load so well because of this air contour back system it’s really easier just small for whether you’re a bit taller like myself we need to set it a bit shorter and it comes in two different bat lengths as well, so we can get it spot-on you’ve got weight bugs in the shops we can come and show you how to do this just right one of the really nice new. Things is this big huge pocket that got the front here it’s much more robust than those sort of bungee pockets you see on lighter packs that means if you are shoving walking poles in there or even maybe got your ice axe in occasionally it’ll actually take your helmet if you expand it really well it can take all that on the side of the pocket here it’s got a really huge big opening so you can actually get sort of maps I’ve even got a guy booking there at the same time loads of room, and they’ve given extra material so that even when the packs really bulging you can get stuff in there without having too much difficulty even the side bungee. Pockets more interesting the most it’s got really reinforced material neck so often you’ll have a look at some light impacts where it’s just using the nice soft mesh and you’ve got holes in the bottom for a pizza shopping booms in it so again this can take a lot more where you can fit yet lovely outside water bottle in there but then if you’re not using it you can still strap it down really well and. Expand it when you want to get stuff back in you get the eye socks attachment you’ve got touch with putting your walking poles in under the bottom down here you’ve got the rain cover which is a very useful thing in the uk if you do. Decide you sort of going traveling or like even longer treks you can’t carry everything you’ve got the ability to put. Sort of tents in and everything like that on the bottom here with all this sort of expansion so the versatility is. Just brilliant on this parking so as you’ve probably noticed this is yalta’s 52 to 57 know what that means is. Currently it’s working like a 52 liter pack but if you float the lid and put these straps loose at the back you can float the whole lid right up to there and pack it to the brim I’ll get you another 5 litres there another very useful feature maybe not so much for today but you can actually access the. Bottom of the pack down here with this dip closure today I’ve just got a rope in their I’ve got it as one big section today so I’ve actually got it full of climbing gear which was maybe a bit optimistic today but if you’re travelling or backpacking as you say i would probably keep that as two separate sections maybe I’m my sleeping gear in there or the deity washing they want to contaminate everything else with and keep it separate so you got the versatility of one big compartment what’s a solo I’ll plan I’ve been making stacks for a long time now, and they know a lot about where the weight should go and get it through the hips and close to the back it’s a real simple little feature that they’ve added to a lot of their rucksacks now is this panel here this is again made out of pretty solid materials and even a hard little bit backer there so what that does is when you pack the bag and you might have had it really badly packed and all a bit of loosen too much weight at the top pull all everything in tight here but then. When you get this and clip it around the. Back and pull it really tall you notice. All the weight pulls really close into the back so you’re keeping everything right up against you back and carrying the weight much better than normal so this is not one pack for just doing a specific event this can do everything. And you’ll use it loads you

Hi everybody this is highs again with an auto review and i hope you are doing well this time I’m reviewing the low. Alpine altis 42 to 47 litre backpacks. It’s designed for her to hurt hikes but it’s capable of a lot more adventures so. If you’re looking for a new mid sized backpack watch the video The brand-new lower alpine eltis 42 to. 47 liters that I’m testing here is part. Of a new large altis family it starts. With the altis nd 30 which is the smallest day to weekend hiking pack for. Ladies nd in lowe alpine language means ladies. Then the smallest version for the gents is the 32 litre version then you go on. To the nd 42 45 litres and the one that. I’m testing here is the medium one for males the large is one for females is. The nd 52 55 litres and the biggest one. For the gentlemen is — 52 to 57 litres. Version the eldest is made out of a combination of two different type of nylon and of course it’s a ripstop nylon the most part is made out of a 210. Denier while the parts that are really let’s say four noble two rocks are made. Out of a stronger for a 50 denier nylon. On the outside there is durable water. Repellent coating and this coating. Prevents from water basically from getting into the backpack and if you look at this into british standards it’s got a static head of 1,500 millimeters which basically means the backpack is. Waterproof according to a local point into the details and let’s start with the more than excellent pole attachment system like on most backpacks you will find a plastic basically a ring where. You put the point of your polling and that’s the way how you secure it in the bottom on the top part you will see that. There is this compression strap and it’s. Something most backpacks have as well but if you’re losing it you can see that. There is actually a loop in which the. Pole is secured this is a very good. Think because even if you’re climbing upside down the pole will never fall out. Of your backpack a little bit of a disadvantage is that if you have it secured like this you have really had. To take your backpack off put it down to. Get the poles out of this so it’s not really quick while you’re walking now let me get the pole out of here so i can. Show you the bottle holder that’s one. Gone let me turn that one down again so it looks more beautiful now it’s just a. Compression strap again and the bottle holder as you can see it is also secured with a compression strap and as you. Might see it’s also quite positioned upright the difficult thing with this is. That when you’re walking you cannot reach the bottle in a very natural movement to get it from your hips into. Your hands yes that is so secure and that is so deep that’s good because you will again when you climb upside down it. Won’t fall out but walking and drinking. From this bottle is not very easy let’s. Stick to this side as you can see there. Is one big pocket which is accessible. From the top to put for example a rain jacket in or if you’ve got some wet socks that’s a good one or a towel because there’s mesh on the side so it’s ventilates a little bit and underneath here there is a very small drainage hole so you will lose some water while you’re. Walking and i discovered this zipper already when i was walking with it for about a week and this is a very nice hidden pocket to put a map because it’s. Really nice and flat and it’s got a good. Zipper and all the zippers they’ve got these really good pulling tips so if you’re having cold hands this is not a problem and even with the glove it’s very usable there are two things. That i did not test the first is the system to put a pickle or a ice x — it’s. Like a retention system and the other one is how to attach the skis to the. Backpack the skis go between the pec and. To the compression steps this one and the one on the top but you will understand it if you have got bottles inside the bottle holders that there is. Going to be a conflict but I’ve not tested this one of the first things i. Learned when i started doing these videos in English was the word and daisy changed and i don’t know if you know what they are but the cjs are these loops on the back of a backpack it’s. Basically sort of strap connected. Together and i always use it to put my cup there or maybe sometimes a knife and. They’re really convenient even if you do some more serious mountaineering there. Is a lot of gear you can strap on to these easy change the low alpine altis family. Uses the air contour carrying system. Reshaped shoulder straps there is a. Foam padding in there which is quiet. Firm and it’s something i do like inside the padding there are holes so that they. Can still breathe and as you can see on. Both of the shoulder steps there are the load lifters which are very useful if. You travel up the mountain or down the mount because that’s when you wear the backpack a bit different there’s also a. Very good carrying handle here so you don’t have to lift the backpack bite shoulder straps you do this with this one because otherwise you might over. Stress the shoulder straps and especially for somebody who’s right-handed you always take the right shoulder step to take it use this one. Because otherwise you get a difference in the shoulder straps let me show you a. But more and get this out of the way and i hope they stick like this a bit they. Don’t i will do it the other way around the air contour system as you can see. It’s a mesh back and between the mesh. And the backpack itself there is this foam padding and there are a lot of holes cut into here for more ventilation and there’s also a big opening here that’s where your spine basically goes also the hip belt it’s padded with nice. Firm foam and also a mesh material so. That it can still ventilate the fact that this is a close-contact. Backpack is something i do really like you’ve got these backpacks that have a huge opening between your back the backpack and there’s a lot of fanta layin going in between but the fact is that if you do more adventurous hikes especially in the mountains you want a. Backpack that is close to your back because every time you move the further. The backpack is away from basically your back and the center of the gravity of your body that’s basically sort of. Danger because well you get a the movement doesn’t flow the way that you. Walk that’s why i really like close-contact backpacks for this kind of. Hikes especially if you’re yeah like i said adventurous hikes this is a size m2l. That I’m testing I’m one meter 70 small. Or tall and this one is fine for me it’s. Got a back length if I’m not mistaken 48 to 53 centimeters and now you know. That this is a adjustable backpack well. Basically it’s not a totally one it’s. The shoulder straps you can see that there is this we call this velcros in the netherlands and you can see that if you. Loosen it you can make two shoulder. Straps attachment points a bit higher or a bit lower so that’s the way how to do it then it’s quite easy if you use this. Backpack for more than one person this is quite a convenient system but normally you just use the backpack for yourself you do that one time and that’s it underneath this one and there’s not. Only foam there are two aluminum rods. 15 millimeters wide to support the whole. Carrying system and if you want to shape. The big backpack a bit to your back as well you can just adjust those aluminium. Poles a little bit but don’t overdo it. The chest strap in the middle it’s here. You can attach it to a basically this is. A daisy chain as well low higher I’ve. Got it in the middle there is of course. A missile for safety which is a good thing and i do like the fact that this is not on a sort of plastic rails but it’s got a really good system that stays. In one place you can just take it out like this it’s a bit pointy sometimes. But you wiggle it in like this get it. Through oh once you’ve done this it. Stays secure on this spot i already. Spoke a little bit about the hip belt it’s paired with a quite firm foam and. Still, it’s comfortable in the same time it doesn’t feel very firm and I’ve been. Using the others for the two with about maximum 15 kilos and if you and the shoulder steps totally all the weight goes onto the hip belt and it. Supports the weight excellent what i also do like it’s the fact that it is a very big buckle and that it is a forward. Pulling mechanism so if you want to put the belt really tight around your waist you just pull it forwards and let them go and the belt is really secured one thing i did not mention yet. I’ve been talking about the male version the women’s pecs they are the md. Versions there are all specials designed. For women, so they’ve got a different fit and one of the biggest differences is the limbal support which is at the. Female version was more pronounced. Basically so that’s the difference the. Hip belt has got two pockets one on this side of course and one on this side and pockets again a good pulling tap and. It’s quite big and it’s also meshed so if. You want to drain some stuff that’s possible but if you put something hard. In here that’s also possible because it’s a bit flexible the mesh what i would not advise you is to put a big iphone in there because when you’re working with a curvy hip belt i don’t. Know how much tension actually is going to be on your iphone and if i break so i. Would not suggest you to do that now let’s move over to the top lid there’s. One big opening is accessible from the. Outside again a good phone tap yeah my. Head for my gloves and some other stuff that i need on the go sunscreen of course but then when we open this one. And there are of course two clips on the. Backside now then you can see that there is a lot of pocket on this side as well. And this is where i keep my wallet and my phone and of course my piece and there is a keychain, so they will never. Fall out which is good and as you can. See on the upside down there is also the. Emergency signs that if you’re in distress in the mountains you can have a look at this and you know how to signal for example the helicopter and. From my beautiful log i had to move to the ground because otherwise my tripod is going to be too high and i cannot see what I’m doing now as i told you before i took the top it off now you can see. The signs on the inside which is gorgeous and there is this big strip on. The top and this strip is there to get this part of the backpack and the lid. Together the lid is fully adjustable but. More on that a bit later but underneath this tip you can take a tent if you want to store it you can take it there and. This is all you need to do and then when. You put the little bit higher you can. Store a tent underneath there as well so and it doesn’t need to be a tenth of course can be climbing ropes or other stuff now let’s get that one out of the. Way then we’ve got this opening to the. Main compartment it’s a matter of pulling both and that’s how it opens and. This is a really nice big opening there. Is a second one here and that i will prove which also releases let’s say the. Second part of the compartment and this. Part between those two this is of course. The difference between the 42 liters and the 47 liters this is the five liters. Extra so there’s a lot of storage space. In there and now this is the way how you. Get to the stuff in the top part of your backpack but i will leave this here to show you something else now and there. Are still some left over that i didn’t talk about first of all is that v underneath you find two straps as well. There’s not only ties this down but it’s. Also a good place if you want to carry for example a mattress you put it. Underneath here you can also see that there is a space with the zipper with. The excellent orange bright orange rain. Cover speaking of the rain cover as you. Can see it’s really bright orange and also the logo it’s reflective so that’s good at nighttime but the more interesting part is on the other side and that’s the fact that the whole way. Around the rinka for there is this elastic band with a clip so can you really tie it. Down so that it doesn’t blow away and even halfway the peck and the ring cover. There is a attachment point so it’s fixed through the backpack itself so when you got wind coming from this side it will never get underneath the rain. Cover itself it won’t blow up into one. Big balloon and the other thing is also that this also protects against wind and. Rain getting into the rain cover because. Sometimes you’ve got these rain covers that they blow up the wind goes in it and you end up with like a big puddle. Underneath your backpack inside the rank of extra kilos and that’s not convenient. So this is really a excellent execution of a rain cover okay as you might have. Seen when i release the buckles and this. Is a you zip a u-shaped zip and this opens the backpack if you lie it down on. Its back the good thing is that you. Don’t have to access the top if you want to get something from underneath it and. You can see there’s my down jackets no just let my down jacket it’s a waterproof bag with stuff in there. Yoma ring pants so if i most of my rain. Pants its just a matter of opening to this lid then there’s a second sipper. And this is the v fighter and to be. Honest i don’t really get it because in a backpack of 42 liters ok 47 it’s still. A small pack you don’t really need a. Septa fighter in here I’ve got my. Sleeping bag and when i put my sleeping bag into a waterproof pouch it’s quite difficult to get it in there or get it. Out there it might be good if you do her to hurt hike so you don’t bring a sleeping bag you just want to put your dirty gear in here then it might be fine but because it’s a. Zip but you can also get totally rid of it and you’ve got one big compartment so that’s basically your choice i would not. Have done this but I’m not a well point. And they probably got their reasons so. That’s that and i think I’ve covered. Basically everything except for one. Think whoops and that’s the hydration. System close to the back there is a hydration pack and when you look on this side you. Can see that there is this hydration hose coming out of the hole and then it. Goes not so very nicely into the. Shoulder strap and there is not really a. Good system to fix this to the shoulder strap and what i don’t like is the fact that the opening is only on the right side while people who are left-handed. They like to have the opening on the left side so that would be an improvement to me last but not least my. Verdict on the lower alpine eltis 4247 i. Like the pack and it’s got a great deal. To do with the comfort of the air contour carrying system that is so close to my back i really love it the new. Opening in the front it makes access to the middle part in the lower part of the backpack very convenient i like the pole attachment system because it really fixes the pulse in one. Spot if you want to get your poles quite quickly then it sometimes can be a bit of a disadvantage unlike the attention to safety in this. Bag and especially the bright orange ring cover i think that’s a big pro the. Durability the pack is like all packs of. Low upper made of very sturdy materials. And that’s something which is always very good if you want to use a backpack over in longer periods one thing that. I’m not totally sure about is the sub divider of the main compartment in a backpack of 40 to 50 litres i don’t. Think it is really necessary but that’s something you will have to decide for yourself a small negative point is the. Fact that there is not a second opening on the left side for the house of your hydration pack and i also think that with 1700 and 2 grams the eltis is. Slightly too heavy but the price it’s. 169 euros and 95 cents and that’s a very. Decent price to pay for such a very complete backpack. And therefore i rate the low alpine. Elseís 4247 at 8.4 points i hope you. Like to read you and that it is useful to you and if it is please give it a like and leave a comment below and for. hello and welcome to wheel will this. Week we’re going to be taking a look at a brand-new pack from lowe alpine called the altis now this comes in men’s and. Women’s versions and also in a number of colors but it also comes in a number of different capacities so there’s a 32 litre version a 42 to 47 versions and a. 52 to 57 versions what i have here is the. 42 to 47 and this is the perfect size. For say big days out and winter where you need to be carrying all your technical gear and all your warm stuff. It’s also the right size for weekend. Wild camping adventures and also perfect for hut tracking I’d say this would be. Absolutely ideal for something like the camino de Santiago pilgrimage where you’re walking from hostel to hostel but. Still need all your essentials with you so let’s look at the back system first this comes in i think two different back links but there’s also a velcro. Slider here that gives the potential for. An extra bit of adjustment so you’ve got. A couple of inches of give here the back. Itself is made from a combination of mesh and foam padding with loads of air. Channel channels in it so there’s plenty. Of ventilation what i really like about it is this curved lumbar support down here it fits really snugly in your lower. Back to give a very close-fitting. Comfortable feel that’s also ventilated and then you’ve got the hip belts which are slightly pre curved and also really padded to give a very comfortable feel ok let’s take a look at the front then. So there are loads and loads of compression straps just to make sure that you can get this you know if you’re carrying a light load you can really cinch it in and make sure that it’s not. Kind of falling off your back loads of pocket spaces so two in the top lid the one on the inside has one of. Those little them little clips for your car keys to stretch pockets on the side. That’s where you can stick a water bottle these probably aren’t big enough for a tent or a roll map though. Unfortunately but you can stick your tent or roll mat on the bottom straps. Down here there’s also a pocket on the. Front where it’s got a slight bit of. Stretch to it as well you can stuff your down jacket in there or you ought to prove jackets so that you can access it quickly what other pockets can we talk about here mm-hmm oh yeah. Well actually let’s talk about the actual the fabric itself so it uses. Something like a 200 any fabric. Throughout the most part of it but on the bottom there’s a 420 denier fabric which is really strong you’re. Not going to rip that at all and there’s a water-resistant treatment to it so you. Now it’ll be able to repel anything but heavy rain and then when there is heavy. Rain all you need to do is just pull out the cover in the bottom down there i. Should also mention that there are little trekking pole or ice axe docks. Down here so you can hold your technical. Kit right okay so you’ve got the top lid. Entry and then also this one down the. Middle as you can see there it’s a. Little bit fiddly but it opens up and gives you access to basically the entire bag so imagine you’re in the alps you’ve hiked to a hat you throw this on you your bed and then you’ve got access to. Absolutely everything like a normal suitcase basically there’s also a. Divider somewhere in here so you zip it. Up and it kind of splits the very middle. Of the bag so if you want to keep i don’t know various bits and bobs separate like your technical kit separate from your clothes you can do inside the pack there’s an aluminum. Frame that is kind of tennis racket. Shape so the head is up here and it narrows down right down to the lumber and the purpose of that is to distribute the load kind of evenly throughout your. Back so it’s not really heavy or kind of. The load isn’t pulling you back from the top it’s perfectly easy even right down. Your back the weight of the pack overall. Is 1.7 kilograms which to some might be. Quite heavy especially for the ultra lighters but it’s not too drastic i. Think most people would be able to tolerate that especially if you’re just going off for kind of quick weekend wild camp price 140 pounds which isn’t. Bad at all i think considering how much. Thought has been put into this pack it’s really well-thought-out i met the desert, and they clearly spent a lot of time on it so 140 creds not too bad at all as i said it comes in. A number of different colors back sizes capacities and in men’s and women’s version so there are plenty of variations of it out there low I’ll point it clearly excited about this they’ve been shouting about it a lot and it follows on from a great pack last year with the low alpine aion so the brand have been doing some really good stuff in recent years I’ve been really impressed so that’s it from me this week if you want me to review a particular product next week just mention it in the comments below and I’ll see what i can do and as i always say subscribe hit. That button below and you won’t miss the next video thanks for tuning in.
