This is a viewer-requested review of Lucas Extreme Duty CLP.

I will test the product's ability as a powder solvent and as a corrosion inhibitor. I have prepared the steel plate by sanding to 400 grit degreasing with brake cleaner and separating into three sections.

I have a new assistant to help burn the powder. Let's fire it up. Here are close-ups of the burnt powder. I applied hoppe's number nine to one. Section and the lucas clp to two sections. I let the plate soak for five minutes. I really like that clock. I scrub the hoppy section with a brass brush and wiped with a clean patch.

After cleaning the brush with brake cleaner I repeated the process with one of the Lucas sections. I gave the remaining Lucas section 25 more minutes of soak time after cleaning the brush I scrubbed and wiped the last section. Here are close-ups of each section. The lucas clp did little to dissolve the burnt powder what powder was removed from the sections was due to the scrubbing and wiping the extra soak time.

Did not seem to help either irie sanded degreased and sectioned the steel plate. I mixed one teaspoon of kosher salt with one cup of water.
I used a clean patch to apply a firm of wd-40 to one section and the Lucas clp to another.

The middle section was left untreated. With the plate held vertical I sprayed each section with the salt spray. Here are close-ups of each section after spraying. I let the plate soak for 24 hours. Here are close-ups of each section. After 24 hours I was surprised that the wd-40 section showed signs of corrosion. The Lucas section was in great shape. So I found that the Lucas extreme duty clp performed similar to break free rem oil. And otis 85 all of these products are able to prevent corrosion. But are not able to dissolve burnt powder.

As well as the Hoppe's number 9 the Lucas clp had a thinner consistency compared to break free and the otis 85. I would say it was more similar to the ram oil.

I'm gonna see how Aluminum Black can be used on aluminum knife handles to repair any damage to a black finish. I bought this knife here this is the crkt foresight and there are a lot of videos on YouTube if you want to see those about this knife.

This isn't really about the knife in particular but I bought this knife used. It has an aluminum handle and as you can see it was a used knife when I bought it. It was very well-loved so that handle which is a normal a dark black finish is kind of beat-up and damaged all around.

And now it's just surface damaged. The knife itself is perfectly functional. No issue with the knife but I wanted to see if I could maybe touch that up a little bit. So I have found a product called Aluminum Black. This is from Birch Wood Casey. I've used their blooming solution for firearms before. So I wanted to try this solution out and see if it might help the aluminum finish on my foresight.

Now this is just an experiment. I have no idea how it's going to react. So what I'm gonna do. Essentially is I'm gonna use the rubbing alcohol here to clean off the foresight's handle as well as i can, and then we are going to apply some of this Aluminum Black and see how it changes the appearance.

Let me hold this up the before image relatively close to the camera. So you can see how it looks before. Okay. But you can see the damage right there and so the pocket clip is stainless steel. I'm not going to remove it for this because you have to disassemble the knife to do. So you'll notice I put some skateboard tape on it to help get it out-of-pocket. I'll try and avoid that area. I'm just gonna use cotton swabs to apply it but hopefully, you know by the end of this little experiment we'll see if this improves the appearance or not.

I'm going to go ahead and do it and see how it comes out. Let's go ahead and try. First thing I'm going to do is use some cotton balls in the rubbing alcohol to clean off the knife. Get fingerprints off it. And I'm just doing this really basic task. I'm not going to in depth. I'm sure you could spend a lot of time doing this and cleaning it off but I'm just trying to make this a nice quick job. Of course whenever you're doing finishes on knives, on guns the more prep time you put into it the better they're a finished result will be but still I'm just making this a quick evening project. I don't intend on spending all day doing this so I'm going to do one side at a time. Looks pretty good, let's just dry it off. And then I'll final rub down with a paper towel. Let's start with this side right. Here I don't know if the results are supposed to be instant or not. Allow to work one minute rinsed with cold water so I'll rinse it with water off to see how that works.

Let's take a look. We have a seal on here and what can I used to open that. I'll just find a random tool on my desk. I better shake it up a little first. I don't know if it needs it or not but just in case there we go. So I'm just going to gently swab in these areas that need coverage and again. I could be doing it totally wrongs. And how much coverage it needs on it you. But I'm going to go ahead and rinse it off and bring it back and see how it turns out.

Let's check that out. After one application you can see there is a definite darkening on the raised edges, but they're on the tips there's still definitely a silver tinge there. So I'm gonna keep giving this coats of the fluid until I get a better result. But again a lot of the areas that only had light scratching are a little bit darker than they were before.

Although you can still kind of tell the difference between the two areas of coating. That's kind of interesting result there. I'm going to keep this process up. I'm gonna do it off camera just for sake of space, and we'll see how it works.

All right. So I just did about four applications of the Aluminum Black on this knife. You can see the difference. In the handle itself it actually to me I think it's kind of big difference. Now you can still, of course, see gouges where it got gouged but instead of being that bright shiny aluminum finish. It's a darker, more matte subdued black color which I think is pretty cool. I think this is a win-win.

Look at that difference. I mean compared to the beginning. That is a big deal to me. So great product and super easy to apply. I mean I've done this in less than 20 minutes. So really nice. Maybe I'll do a couple more rounds of it just to see how dark I can get it. Some of the upraised edges a little bit more but even so as it sits.

This is a much improved knife over what I started the video with about 20 minutes ago. So look at that. I totally recommend Aluminum Black metal finish. Great product can make your very well-used and loved knives good as new.

Following the easy steps of virtual kc's Perma Blue Liquid gun blue kit will keep the metal of your firearm rust free and protected.

Included in the kit is virtue Kc's cleaner degreaser, blue and rust remover, and Perma Blue. Also included is wet/dry sandpaper, a sponge blue and Gobber's service cloth, and barricade wipes. After you have disassembled your firearms.

Clean all the metal parts with the included sponge saturated and cleaner degreaser. Make sure to thoroughly clean all metal parts and then rinse with water. You can now remove rust and/or bluing with the blue and rust remover. Saturate one of the dobbers in the solution and apply it to the metal parts with a small pad at steel-wool polished.

The metal lightly to remove rust and old bluing. Continue this process until the metal is gleaming. The metal has deep scratches or pitting sand. The areas with sandpaper followed by a steel wool polish to smooth it out. Make sure the metal is completely clean of rust and no bluing before moving to the next step.

Next reapply the cleaner degreaser scrub with a sponge and rinse again with water. Now this point of the process try to avoid touching the metal with your finger tips to prevent markings on the meta when it comes to the bluing process.

Now when it's time to start the bluing process timing is very important. You can work on sections of metal rather than the entire piece using a dawber in the Perma Blue. Apply on entire surface, allow the Perma Blue to stay on the metal for no more than one minute. Then rinse it with water and wipe dry. It's better to leave it on for less time because you can always go back and repeat the process if you would like a darker finish after ordering rinsing.

Polish the metal with fine steel wool and look at the coverage of bluing. If there is streaking or you want a darker finish repeat the bluing process after you finish the bluing process. Wipe down all metal parts with barricade wipes and allow curing overnight.

Alright guys i just wanted to do a quick video here of it's not really about this. Revolver i already have a review up about while talking about it this is my. Colt police positive 38 special made in. 1932 real nice revolver if you have a chance pick one up keep it loaded with. These hornady critical defense bullets. Most times sometimes I've used my sd 9ve. For my bedside gun but i wanted to do a. Quick review of this presto matic liquid. Gun blue gum blue four steel complete. Rebuild application so i guess you can use this three blue a whole weapon if. You want but what i used to force is to touch up instead of get one of those pens i got this stuff i put some little. Scratches right here and part this part of the side plate. Which i don't even know if it'll show up. At all i mean you can't even tell it was. There but you could see the metal. Underneath and it was just kind of bothering me you know something that i didn't have to touch it up or anything because it's an older revolver that the fact that i did it because i took it apart was you know just I'm not sure how. It happened but somehow i managed to get some scratches in their taking it apart. Mmm anyway so I'm taking part the horror of all of our cleaning it up and everything inside springs all. That stuff reeling it all that and fix. This and i use that and it works great. But you have to put it on a few times to. Get it to work and you can see it you. Now gets bluing is rusting you can see it resting then you wipe it off and it'll come off a little and come off. Blue but it'll be light and then you'll have to add more and the back tells you to use some kind of rest protecting that. They make over i just use ballast all. Consider tech's against rest most gun. Cleaners and things like that protects against rust so i just put a little layer that over there shined it up and that was a fright week ago or so and. It's its worked fine not resting or. Anything so i just wanted to share that with you if you have a little scratch or. Daniel and touch up studies and one of those pins it depends on how your weapons blued this of course is more of a. Traditional booing you know like a pauperized finish or anything so it worked good there're few nicks and not. Nicks but bluing or bullying was rubbed. Off on the cylinder here so i touched. That up i touched this release up a little bit that was you get some metal on that just from the action of putting the cylinder. And in the weapon so that looks better. Of course that's gonna get worn off again so but i just wanted to share that. With you in case you're looking for something to touch up a little spot i guess you can use this through a little hole weapon think you need more than one bottle i don't know maybe not I've never done that but i just want to show you that it works great and thanks for.
