Morning whoo I wanted the cabin for the weekend so last weekend at turkey season got a little turkey humming it’s very early in the morning for getting ready to go out soon so there’s no real cabin updates a week but I’ve been. We go do a review of oatmeal of. All things that I had picked up in the spring I think in the spring it can. Ibreak those stringer yeah around January last year yeah people have been watching my channel for a long time know. Ilost a lot of weight. One of the things I did with my diet was. Ichanged my breakfast to be plain oatmeal every day so probably 99% of the time. Ihave oatmeal so uh yeah. Iwas buying Quaker Oats. And I would go through. One of these every you know a couple weeks give. Or take yeah I would leave on a cup of oatmeal every morning so plus two servings by the back of a package. And I got a email newsletter for Walmart. And they sell 10 pounds of oatmeal. And in a nice sealed plastic container so. Ibought two of these. And I was testing them out before. They bought more now. Each one of these comes packaged. Isaid enough every duty plastic is empty is.
What I’ve already used heavy-duty plastic bucket. And has a Best Buy date. This one took 2044 so looks like. Igot it in March because that’s. When the I’m some units yeah wasn’t years thirty years. If they could on the package so. Imus ta got too much not January but. Iwant two of these. And I had just finished up the second. On a couple weeks ago there’s still. Some left in here what I do. What they say Quaker Oatmeal one’s package. One of these for daily use so. Itake the contents out of the bucket Thaksin the cornmeal thing toss. This in my cabinet and then. Ican grab this from here. This was ten bucks and. Ithink it was on sale then. Or $13 for ten pounds so. And ten pounds of oatmeal will last. Me about four months give. Or take the two containers it’s nice to devalue ones. You know probably to be safe. You want to make about three. And a half months per person. If you eat it everyday like. Idid so to go through a year yeah three to four of these per person would be a decent amount.
And that’s an eating of a cup of day corn in the back of the package there’s a hundred. And seven cups 107 half cup servings. And I think it’s actually. More than that’s because Lisa based on my own usage. It seemed like I was getting more. Than that out of there the package calories compared to Quaker Oatmeal reach higher. Idon’t know I kind of figure out rolled oats as rowboats but. It isn’t like well the difference between the two are in the ingredient list is. You know what Oh some. Both over so how can. It is that yeah this. One has 150 calories a quarter of the package just 180. It seems like they should be probably. One exactly the same. Idon’t like salt now the dietary fiber. This one says 20% this. One says 15% again I think it’s probably just a difference in reporting I can’t imagine they’re. All that different they’re. All dopes now I’m gonna come comparing the two. You know Quaker Oats to the Walmart brand August. And farm yeah I don’t eat premium oatmeal so Chloe grows about as good as.
It gets for me and. One of the things is with Quaker Oats. You very seldom ever get pulse in your oatmeal with. This you’ll get occasional halt it’s never a lot. And it’s not enough. That I don’t want to use the product. It is an occasional hope. Icook them have this every 10 April before word. And I put one cup of oatmeal in a bowl add water till. Iget to the top of the oatmeal. Iput in the microwave for three minutes on medium on setting number five. And I go the bathroom come back out my breakfast is ready I’ll here at the cabin I’ll be cooking on the stove look the. It comes when I kept a little packet comes with only. One of these for the entire package the UH the oxygen absorber. And I tossed it in here. When I took the last package out of here, so I’m gonna cook.
This up and have some breakfast on these stack. And then I’m hoping the rating on for how high is your stack. These I wouldn’t go order by three high hey. Isay how high they recommend but I’m gonna make myself. Some breakfast no reason to watch water boil, so I’ll bring you back on them. All down okay so it’s a couple minutes later we’re. All cooked off and in. This my normal breakfast. Idon’t you said you know. That anything to it. Ijust have a plain oatmeal. Iadd a little bit of our second a little bit of milk but that’s. It here I have some raisins out here. Iwant to get them off we’re gonna see them so. Ithought some raisins in. Because they don’t have. Any refrigerator around here. Idon’t keep milk but. Ihave non-dairy creamers. And these are a good substitute to milk a little bit high in calories.
Or fill up they are but depending on what you’re using this for such a good thing, so I’ll toss those in their mix them in. This is a good thick stick-to-your-ribs breakfast. Isaid it basically as good as Quaker. You know I’ve never had. Anything I don’t like premium oatmeal. Idon’t buy any better. Than that um get very. Few holes but occasional holes. They never get holes with a Quaker so that’s but. You know doing downfalls. You know that taste wise they’re just as good. And yeah I would probably throw planning on a year’s worth four of these would probably last about a year five. Or take you know three. Or four so for two adults you’re looking at eight. And then if you have kids probably two three for. Each kid so for a family of four yeah. Ilook at it about 12 14 packages but. Iknow like my channel gets a pretty wide viewership. Some people will be interested in. This yeah just for the financial savings yeah.
This is a lot cheaper. Than a Quaker it’s more convenient. And I suppose doors off. And yeah so anyone like. That essentially could product. If you buy 50 dollars at a Walmart does ship. It to your house for free which is awesome yeah cuz. All time when you buy bulk stuff it’s the shipping. That gets you so if. You wait for it to come on sale like. It was last time at $10 yeah. You can buy you know 150 dollars worth. And have breakfast taken care of for a year yeah. And I have no problem with the monotony of eating the same breakfast every day. Some people do but you can spice. It up add cinnamon brown sugar. Idon’t they say for dietary reasons but so doesn’t bother. Me to have the same breakfast every single day yeah not much. More to say about it. If you have any questions I’ll try to do my best to answer. Isaid it’s only my second package. And I’ve ordered replacements so. That I’ll have plenty.
And now I use it daily yeah. Ifeel of the half fact. That it comes with. This nice bucket with a good handle we’re putting these into use maple syrup time. Ilove all the top. And tap in trees and running them right into. These with us as I get. More SAP buckets I don’t know. How many gallons this is by about two. And a half yeah say. How many gallons I’m not sure. What the quantity assignment package but that’s not much. More to say about it so. Isaid if you have. Any questions ask and I’ll be back down next weekend putting a deer season. And we will start hunting season yeah so. This week we’ve been doing a lot of other chores. We got getting ready for the winter. We got the chimneys. All cleaned out on the property. And we put the plate on the tractor the chains on the tractor a lot of the prep stuff get ready for winter they’re called the arctic blast to come. This week we’re not supposed to get much snow other deal but.
That last year when. It was pretty severe down here so be good to be ready for it okay we’ll make sure. We get all the wood piles moved around. And all that jazz hey kids about. It well until next time thanks for watching you.

This right here folks. You need is 177 milliliters of water also known as 3/4 cup hopefully. You got a cup like I do that’s graduated. And tells you exactly. How much so eight ounces people’s about two. And thirty-seven milliliters for so about half of. That you’d be okay not much water people but really really packed with a lot of flavor for this little pouch very simple people bring your water to a boil 177 milliliters 3/4 of a cup dump your pouch in kind of stir in a couple of times let. You know can’t come bring to a boil let. It sits for about 10 minutes. All right I’m about to show. What kind of awesome goodness you’re going to get out of. This oh look at that steam come off of. You know post one of these. That are very critical about. Some is prepackaged food is the amount of salt as. Anything so much salt. If overbearing you can taste. Ireally am skeptical about giving those. That kind of food that may.
You know you have a dietary restriction of sodium people with high blood pressure hypertension congestive heart failure. Something like that in other words people your grandmother your grand. Something like that so oh my gosh. It looks good y’allI’ma tell. What mmm you’ve got to try. You two folks can get a sample of. This in LA this informant just go online. And check them out I’ll get. This the other day whenever. Igo to my Walmart here in town. Ialways check out the clearance aisle. This was the last one on the clearance aisle. They were selling these for $15 14. And change normally. They are 20 bucks 19 goshes. Ihave the price here 1997 so normally they’re 20 bucks. They are a four person 48-hour emergency food supply. Now I’m gonna break down the calories in a bit but. Iwant to read to what they say about the stuff first so it’s the august son farms 48 hours four person emergency food supply it’s designed not only to sustain four people for two days but also with exceptional flavor. And highest possible quality of food obviously Farms knows an emergency arrived from a variety of circumstances weather stormy weather prevents. You from a trip to the grocery store a natural disaster requires an evacuation from your home. You simply need a quick meal for unexpected guests nobody’s cooking me freeze-dried.
Ishow up at your house unexpected ok it’s easy to prepare. You just add water again the stuff is freeze-dried it’s got a 20-year shelf life the 2 gallon pail is in is also FDA compliant. And palfrey so it can be repurposed for food storage. Ialready have one of these. That I’ve opened up. This on sale I was like. You know what I’m gonna bring this to the channel. And let people see what it’s like. Something really convenient. And for those of you people. That don’t want to dedicate an entire store room to food. And go overboard with prepping this is a good kind of middle-of-the-road thing you stock a. Few of these up you got a little bit of food. Iwill say one thing about them mostly it’s a lot of carbs okay. It the salt content isn’t too bad on.
It is a lot of carbs um does give. You a little bit of variety you’ve got a breakfast. You probably have something to consider lunch. And then a dinner and it’s kind of good variety food but. It is carbs it’s there’s not a lot of meat in. It is my point okay. They say it’s 55 total servings let. Me break down the servings for you so. Idon’t get this wrong ten thousand nine hundred ten calories for people that’s 1363 calories per person per day it’s kind of light for 48 hours. Or for one person that’s thirteen thousand thirteen hundred. And sixty-three calories for 192 hours. Now that’s eight days okay so. You can use this for your food storage camping survival pretty much. Anything they do say to keep. It in a cool dark place between 55. And 70 so I wouldn’t suggest. This in a car kit you know might end up getting a little funky inside is buttermilk pancakes maple brown sugar oatmeal creamy chicken rice.
And macaroni and cheese the cheese is packaged separately. And a creamy potato soup so. What I’m gonna do with. This today I’m gonna prepare two of the entrees. And I’m not gonna make. You sit through and watch. Me put up stoves that we’re just gonna prepare them come back. And show what it looks like open up the bucket for you here. Ialready peeled off the thing and. What you get inside. This is your cheese powder. And macaroni and cheese. Imean macaroni this is your creamy chicken flavored rice. This is creamy potato soup mix. And again another macaroni. All right and again maple brown sugar oatmeal buttermilk pancakes. And creamy chicken flavored rice again so that’s. What you get inside that’s. What it looks like it’s in. These white plain things with a nice empty bucket probably. Icook two of the entrees here. What I will do is just store the rest in my storeroom.
And maybe I’ll toss a. Few extra things in here so the buckets good for everything else. You know you can still use the bucket for other things. It does seal up nicely. It isn’t too difficult to open, so I’m gonna set up. Some camp stoves out here. It go and we’ll see. It comes out and I’ll show. What it looks like, and we’ll do a little taste test at the end. All right just a quick update as I’m cooking here. You notice over there. Ihave cheese powder. Both things of macaroni you’ll use the whole pouch of cheese. What I did was it in half. And still be on the backup with an oxygen absorber into a Ziploc bag so that’s already prepared. This is five cups of water which is. Now coming to a boil for the creamy chicken flavored rice we’re gonna put. That in there I have to find the oxygen absorber. Because it’s not on top but I’m just gonna pour. This in here they say to cook. This for about 10 to 15 minutes until. You get the desired tenderness of the rice there’s my oxygen absorber.
Imean we’re gonna stir. That in so that’s gonna get stirred in. They say to use five cups of water for one bag so that’s. One bag with the creamy chicken. And rice now I’m gonna take. That down to a little lower case. They don’t want it to bubble over. And I’m gonna let that simmer. This stuff’s ready for the noodles drop the noodles in there. And that’s pretty much the prep. You know putting together of these meals I’m gonna let. And then I’ll bring you back. When it’s fully cooked. And we’ll try out a bowl of. All right from picking up cleaning up serving everything up it’s about 15 20 minutes later. This is the end result. And again — I don’t want. You folks to think you have to cook. It there is individual recipes on. Each bag like for the macaroni. And cheese they say to use 1/3 cup of macaroni. And a half cups of boiling water.
And two tablespoons of cheese powder with 2/3 of a tablespoon of water so. You do cook this individually. Ijust made this in bulk. Because we’re probably gonna eat. This through the day. This is the chicken. And rice creamy chicken flavored rice looks really good. And hmm that’s really good as. You can tell there’s a lot left over okay. That actually is really good not as good as. Ithought and not as bad as. Ithought it was gonna be. Iwasn’t I didn’t hold up too much hope for. That day creamy chicken rice it’s actually pretty good so let’s try the macaroni. And cheese you can tell quite a bit left again. You don’t have to cook. You know there’re recipes on. Each little bag to show. How to do it individually. And that’s really good yeah. Iwould say splitting the powder half. And half is right on the money it’s not too salty it’s not too dry came out perfect so anyway that’s the august son farms 48 hours four person five meal variety emergency food supply just.
Something to think about. You know you started starting to think about stocking up. You want to do it cost effectively. This is an excellent way to do. It really inexpensive your Walmart. You might even have. This on clearance I did notice. These a couple weeks ago in the bulk food sections. You know they have the big huge jars of those big huge jars of raviolis. And pickles everything they had. These there that was. They were 20 I was able to pick. This up for 14 and change so anyway that’s the video for today. This is the August and Farms shredded potatoes so. What you go do is. You want to make some home fries with your eggs in the morning just put in. However much you want. These are good to eat plain just like. This like potato chips so just put in. However much you want add water doesn’t matter add. This much water at this much water. This water doesn’t matter. How much water you want to let them sit for 20 minutes. And then drain the water they’ll be just right add them to your pan fry them up. And you’re going to have the best crispy home fries. You ever had added some salt pepper butter the pan could. Even put any other kind of spices. You might like but they are mmm good.
