Iam at the ATA I’m at Mountain Mike’s. You can see they have. Some real gorgeous alternatives to the European mountain. And today we got Mike here to help. And explain what we got going on hi Mike hey Bonnie let. What we got here this is alternative happen to foil out. Or use Beatles for skulls. This is a ten-minute project. You take these goals. They have interchangeable face plates large. One for large base bucks. And it’s got a DVD that comes with. It explains exactly. How to use and essentially. You pull the DVD intersections. It takes like 10 minutes to get. This product on the wall then we’ve got. Another product here the record keeper. This works great for shutting here for cutting your antlers off of the plate. Or using them as sheds. One is for keeping your products in your skull plate intact so. You got a pope and young. Or a buck you’re just not comfortable cutting off the antlers then. You on the DVD exactly. How to cut this skull plate. You the epoxy and the touch-up paint. This product is just beautiful for reserving your antlers well.

Some real exciting products there we’re really happy to see them. One of my favorites of the show so look for this on my blog Thank You, Lonnie.

I’m Mike with mountain bikes today machetes are a plaque master. This is our budget plaque model. Isay budget but it’s a very nice-looking flat it’s just to get the price points. That are currently on the market I’m gonna mark for a long time. That $19 price point that’s a particle board Bern rough around the edge it’s a Styrofoam Center cover maybe. Some red-velvet some green velvet. And it’s just got a decal finish on. They said if you’ve ever handed on the outside you’re going to get cut a lot of fall apart the particle board breaks in the process of putting together. This unit was our alternative it’s an inexpensive unit but with our patented Center cover there’s a two-piece there still no trimming there’s no cutting there’s no tucking so. This unit also be injection molded. We have a very nice edge holiday lookin job in. This offensive front let’s get started we’re going to mount. These antlers up today. And we’re going to keep. It on the original skull cap unlike the rack fly which utilizes our chef spreader to get the perfect touch finish. And custom look this unit uses a two-piece Center cover the sandwiches the. And resent depending on the diameter so it’s pretty much a universal cap. You don’t need the chef’s better. It does work with you guys. Some sheds you want to go. That route, but we really primarily designed to work with the deer original skullcap it’s an inexpensive putting probably the birds as a guide straight down.

That angle right that’s the way it’s tested on the board. You see the curve of the antler is just like the diagram. And your picture now from the bottom of the bird down. You want to measure 3/4 of. That I’m gonna mark. This is about what you’re going to look like you’re going to be cutting all the way to the back of the school. And you’re going to be coming about with the suture is the way. It usually comes out so see. That line is you got a 90 degree angle it’ll sit nice on the flat it’ll sit nice and flat on the plot so wouldn’t make. That cut now Center cover my boring trial fitted. You might make sure. They slide around that keep on the underside of the burrs.

You can flex these a little bit in to do those ears to get underneath there. And that’s going to be a perfect fit. Iwon’t have to do anything else to. This no trimming what’s the sum in there only it’s hitting and. They ammeter too wide. It just won’t I can’t get. It to fit right in that case. What I do is take a dremel tool. Or a wrap field file. Even an exacto knife utility knife. You just terribly shape. That okay a little bit you’re good to fit nice and snug around. You can use a pocketknife. You can carve it gently at your speed be gentle with. It takes off what you need keep trying don’t take too much at. Once just little by little until. You get a perfect fit but generally. This is going to be a grant. They’re tight to the birds.

Where the screws gonna catch. Is a little knob there, so we’re gonna take. That off you can do. It with a song you can do with the sander dremel tool. Whatever I’m just go ahead. And take it off that’s the way. You need to do I slide the top portion forward comes. All the way stuff okay go ahead. And mount these two Center covers the lower center cover holes later back on their line up the holes put your two number six your black number six is in their protecting the center cover. Whatever you do don’t get old you’re doing okay. How about got everything nice and tight push the back in. Everything sandwich really tight. Iput my last screw in right in the back here. You know it’ll it’s a self-tapping screw. You just push you can redrill. You want you can just go ahead. And screw it rights in okay.

You want to mount your last two screws in your pack right here redrill them with the 3/16 drill make sure. You don’t go any deeper. Then the inch and a half of these screws. You won’t come out to number 12. And there you have. It there you go done with mounting your antlers up the brass name plate. You can have this engraved. You can leave you want. You can add you want. Some people take down to your trophy shop in town check back on our site. Because we’re gonna start offering the service too but. This makes a really nice looking unit with. It on there you can commemorate the trophy by having an addition to. Ithink you’re gonna like. It the plaque master quick. And easy and inexpensive thank you.

Hey guys welcome to. This episode of Ike’s outdoors today we’re doing a product review on the mountain mikes reproductions plaque master. What we’re going to do is a real transfer. This five point over to. This plaque master mount. And the reason we’re doing. That is its just falling apart the cover. That was on here has fallen off. And it’s just I just want to do a different mountain with. Ipicked up this mountain mikes plot mastered we’re going to we’re going to cover. And looks like it’s going to be pretty easy I’ve just kind of skimmed over the directions but first before. Iget going on I want to tell. You why I’m mounting this little five point for me. It doesn’t matter so much about a deer sighs. It comes to making it worthy of being mounted. What matters to me is the story behind the deer. And the hunt that goes in with. This five point I killed in Oklahoma on a ranch.

That my brother managed about 13 years ago. Something like that still pretty young. And I’d convinced myself. Icould stock up on a deer on the ground. Some guys I a hundred was. Some older guys. That hunted with told. It was impossible that 100 with. And Curtis McKibben. He encouraged me quite a bit. And told I could do. It could be done anyone could do. It was Curtis but Curtis believes. Icould do another guy. We hunted with at the time did not believe. Icould do and did not believe. It could be done and believed. It was just a way of scaring deer. And the best way to get. Me to do something is to tell. Ican’t so this individual told. Ican’t stock up on a deer.

It was a waste time. Iwent out and was dead set. And determined I was going to stock up on a deer with my bow. Iwas going to kill. This took me about three years to do. Imessed up a lot of times before. Ifinally got it right. It just happened to be the perfect scenario. What had happened was the day before. It was a Sunday it would went out hunting and. Idropped my jacket on the way out. And had not realized. It so monday I went back in there to get. Ididn’t want sitting in there. All week long so I went back to get. And my buddy of mine. Iworked with he asked. Iwas gonna take my bow. Itold him no I just kind of run. It he’s like man you might want to take your bow so after working eight hours as a welder sweaty nasty stinky the wind was just in the right direction so. Iwent over there that day about four o’clock in the afternoon took my bow. And right there on the road as. Iwas walking in I spotted two dough’s. They were right by where my jacket was laying on the ground so.

Isquatted down and started putting the stock on these two dough’s. Iwas putting a stock on these Titos. This five-point had come out. Ihad passed on this five point. Several times before out of the tree stand. And had ample opportunity on him. He was passing along the road. He was going to come right to the road there was a bend in the road. It came back it went up like. He was going to pass right here so there were briars. That were about a little bit of about knee-high. Icrawled on that road right to. That bend and waited for him. He crossed the road. Idrew knelt over on my knees my stomach down hiding behind those briars. Idream came up on my knees. And pulled the shot off in about two seconds literally came up. And shot and put a great shot on him.

Imean just luckily there’s very little skill involved in. Iput the shot right. It needed to be he went about 35 40 yards. And laid over and died so. It was an awesome moment for me. It was an awesome hunt. It was a way for me to prove to. Ican do it in a way for me to prove myself. Ican do anything I set my mind to. It also was really cool. Iwas able to go back to curtis. And a guy who whose opinion meant a lot to. It you’re right and thank. You for having affected. This little five-point means a lot to. Me I’ve got bigger deer in the wall but. One means a lot to I still remember. That day that hunt as clearly. It happened yesterday so. This little dude deserve a nice plaque.

And a nice place on the wall. And that’s what we’re going to do today is we’re going to put him on. This mountain mike plaque master which looks really easy doesn’t look like it’s going to take much at. All so first thing we’re going to do is get. It off of this old plaque okay so. What I’ve done to do. Now I’m going to drop my antlers down in here. And I’m going to position them kind of the way. Iwant them and then I’m going to drop. This plaque top part of the plaque right down in their just like. And it’s going to go just over the top like. Ibelieve oh maybe he’s going to go underneath going underneath would make. More sense there we go just like. That so we’re going to drop. It in their just like. And that’s going to cover. Everything up and make. It looks really nice. What we’re going to do is. These slots right here we’re just going to run a hole right through there. You can see I got to go. All the way up to get mine. Because it’s so small back I’ve already got. One started just to hold.

Everything in place I’m going to go ahead. And bolt this thing down. And tighten everything up. It into place, and then we’re going to turn around on the front. And do the Titan the top of. That plaque into place so pretty easy to do. Everything is already redrilled I’ve already redrilled. Everything and got everything into position okay so with. That done I’m going to take a I’m going to take. It just a little bitty. Any tiny drill bit and drill a hole. Where are my girl bits right hereI’m going to use like a sixteenth inch drill bit. Something like and drill a hole just so. Ican get that screw started without much problem just like.

That we’ll take our screw put. It rights there tighten. That thing down it okay so. It for a little plaque mountain. You can see this is looks much better. It looks really nice. What I’m going to do probably is taken just a little bit of black paint under. One right here and just fill. That in so I can get rid of. That white underneath there. And just fill it in with a little bit of black paint. And really hide that really well so. That is the plaque master from Mountain mine took. Me a total of about 15 minutes to do was really easy. And absolutely looks great. When you’re said and done. And ought to be good. And durable it’s good it’s a good solid plastic. Or polymer something like. It ain’t never gonna going to get bad on. You never go to rot away like felt on. That other and it’s going to be a really good way to preserve your memories. These little buck this little look like. This is going to go right back on Jacobs wall.

And going to look great for years to come I’ve also got the Black Forest mount up here. That from the other video. Igot the skull mount right here from. We did last year so. These mountain mike reproductions look fantastic they’re super easy to do. This thing didn’t take. Me no time at all was super easy to put together. And looks really good. When it’s done so definitely check them out at the link below. You can check out the videos on. One on our website or on our YouTube page here at Ike’s outdoors please be sure to like subscribe.
