Look I just bought this 3x magnifier, it’s a wind in elevation adjustable and it’s from UTG interval. Qd mounts with a flip out or flip the side mount on it and I picked this up as I unbox. It here, truely, first, first unboxing and look because I took some of my rifles to the range and what I notice is that, even if you’re zeroing at 50 yards, seeing where your hits land and really being able to zero in on where those hits are landing, is really difficult without magnification and, as you may know, from our previous video I, actually added these hollows on open reflex, sights which are awesome, but they have no magnification, which is kind of what you expect and for maybe a CQB or a personal sense weapon.
You know, that’s that’s perfectly fine and you may want to zero in at 25 yards. But you know what you want to do is when you’re spending the time to zero, actually know exactly where you’re hitting you want it to be precise, because you ever have to use it or when you run out for fun. You know you’re not going to be bent arresting them. So here is how it comes. First of all, I will tell you that it comes with a couple of hex keys here, a small large one and so I think that is for elevation and windage adjustment, which looks like the large one and then the small one I’m not sure what it’s for, because, even though it looks kind of big so for just the heat here for the Picatinny rail, so it also comes with a tethered like a rubber cover so that I’m just going to wrap it around the base there.
And then we have a Picatinny base here with a quick-release lover, and then this will deploy out do pull it back. You can see a little gap there you pull it back. So once it’s mounted, you pull back. It’s really under a lot of spring tension. Then you flip it off to the side. So then, it’s aside and when you flip it back up, looks like you got to pull it back again and then it’ll snap back in there. As you can see, it’s a pretty big housing will go on side there, but it seems a really robust.
You can see that that the lens area looks like there’s some anti-glare coating on the front and then on the ocular piece. This is serrated there so that you can do some fine focus. Adjustment like I, said windage and elevation adjustments. So now what we want to do is we want to put it on here and for me yeah, you could run it. You know as part of your setup, your rifle setup or pistol setup pistol in my case, but I’m just going to use it for sighting in so let’s go ahead and put it on and see if it works with the salsa all right now the goods in the bed I got this thing installed.
You just have to tighten it up there and then the QD mount lover is pretty nice too quickly release it. One thing that I’m a little concerned about is, when you lock it into the vertical position: I have some play there and kind of much more play than I would prefer and I kind of pulled it back. You know you pull it back here, which is not the easiest thing in the world to do you pull it back under spring tension, and then it has a couple of holes there and a couple of dimples on the front part of this and that’s what locks it in place now.
It’s super sturdy in the down position, which doesn’t do me a lot of good if it we’re going to wobble a little bit, I’d prefer it there, but if I pull it back and then bring it to the top position and even though it’s locked in I mean man I, don’t know what the deal is there. That is a lot of play. Kind of seems like not only side-to-side but even kind of up and down a little bit. So not real happy with that, but I think part of that is I. Don’t know. I just may have gotten a little bit of a dud here, so it’ll probably go back, but you know in terms of functionality, does it work and actually that’s what that’s probably the thing I’m going to I’m, probably most capulet now capturing this on camera is the hardest thing.
I can possibly imagine, but you can see this. This gun is zero and you can see my hollow Sun. You know everything right out of the box. The way it comes. You can see my circle and dot there and while it might be a little hard to see there, hopefully you can see that right out of box I can see it now, it’s a little bit off. That might be a little bit too because of the wiggle of the the magnifier and I can see really clearly a man that’s going to make it actually using this magnifier a lot easier.
Now you can see there, you can see my 65 MOA circle and 2 MOA dot, and you can see how it kind of dances there with the movement in the magnifier right. So, but you know if this work, wiggling I would happily use this now. I can also adjust this to kind of get. It lined up a little bit better, but you know what might be hard to see there is that I can see very well. You know through the glass and actually the dot encircle are really in Nice focus, I mean and I haven’t even played with the dye optic part of the magnifier, so I’m really impressed with this.
Is that truly 3x? It’s hard to say you know from you know from you know, just eyeballing it I’d say it’s probably pretty close. You know, I might say it’s more between 2 & 3 X, because I was using a 4 X at the range last time and I can tell it’s not quite as quite as magnified at this, but this is going to really help to get that circle right on. You know the holes that you’re punching and know if you’re really zeroed in now. Will you run this on? You know a rifle or a pistol all the time you certainly could and because it flips out to the side.
That’s pretty cool, but you know for my purposes and I think for a lot of people. You just want to know that everything is precise and zeroed in so I think it’s pretty cool I would have certainly liked it to be a little more sturdy out of the box, but I think I’m just going to ask for another one and try it out and get to the range and get these other rifles and pistols zero. Then Peter, Bob and I out.

Welcome back, everyone is the intro and a title gave away today we’re going over the vortex, three-car magnifier. Now this one here, I’ve gotten a ton of requests to do because we obviously have reviewed other magnifier before in the past, but not this one. So this is one of more popular ones out there on the market. So coming up next we’re going to talk about some of the features of it and maybe why it’s so popular we’ve got to mount it up here with this Trijicon RMR from OpticsPlanet mounted up on an american defense manufacturing a co witness riser.
So it’s going to be the same for any sort of AR optic that you’re running, including the ones that you’ve seen throughout the video already. Basically to get it zeroed in and whatever you buy zeroed in is you’re, actually not zeroing the optic. The optic is zeroed separately, but to get your magnifier zeroed in by actually turning these little screws here, you’re going to raise the elevation or drop it depending on which way you’re going and on the side here, you’re going to do your windage and what it’s really doing is again.
Windage is not really the right term. What you’re actually doing is moving the dot in the center of the actual focus there. So that way, you can Center your dot in the magnifier. So every time you get a consistent sight picture, but either way, even if you move the dot all the way to the left, all the way up, all the way down it doesn’t matter. Your point of impact is going to be the same regardless I’ve used some footage that we’ve seen in the video already in other videos.
One thing people kept asking was: if you’re going to have a magnifier there, why do you even have backup BOTS irons? Well, simple answer: for that say your optic look down for whatever reason dirt mud get cracks. Whatever the case may be, you can actually hit the button here on the side, move your magnifier out of the way, activate your backup, irons and get back in the fight.
The field of view at 100 yards with the magnifier is going to be 38 feet now. It’s sort of hard to tell with this manual focus that we’re using on the camera here, but here’s what it looks like with the magnifier on there and I’m going to move it to the side, hopefully not disturb the camera too much, and that’s the difference there when you’re, just using the red dog so again with no red dot there I would no magnifier.
Excuse me flipping the magnifier back into place. Don’t get it back on camera! You can see how it magnifies it. Now, it’s a very hazy day, it’s kind of the end of the day right now, so we don’t have to tunnel light. But that is what you can see. It looks a little bit clearer to the human eye than it does here on camera, but it should give you a pretty good idea.
The magnifier comes with an insert this inserts supposed to be used when you have a lower one-third red dot sight. So if you have that you can just insert it here between the actual mount itself and the magnifier, so it goes right in between there, and one thing: that’s important to point out is one of the big criticisms that I’ve read online about this magnifier is that it flips to the wrong side.
The right-handed shooters prefer their optics flip to the right. That said, it is reversible, so you can instead of installing it the way you see here, you can just unscrew these screws flip the mount around and it will flip the opposite way. A few months ago, I did a video with the eotech opmod magnifier here and there’s some pretty big differences between the two.
First and foremost, it’s going to be priced, the EO Tech’s about three times more expensive than the vortex here. So this one in today’s market is going to be generally 150 to 200 dollars, depending where you look, this wont obviously a bit more expensive. This one here is also going to be a little bit more rug, at least in my opinion, it feels a little more rugged still has a zeroing ray on the back.
Just like the vortex does. The mount is a quick detach, as opposed to the screw and when you’re actually centering the dot you Center it here with the screws or I should say not the screws. You Center it by hand, as opposed to with the screws in the vortex. The glass on the EOTech is a little bit like ever so slightly clearer, not too much. That’s honestly, a very minor difference it in -.
So in that category, the vortex, that’s very low I think we covered most of the details in the optic here. So far, one thing I know I left out is that it is nitrogen purge. So it’s fine. If you’re going to be out there, hunting with it in the rain and stuff like that, you’ll be just fine. It’s not going to have any issues there, even if you ever did have any issues for Tech’s offers a lifetime.
No questions asked no conditions, warranty, which is really awesome. I recommend vortex a lot just because of that, because you know they sort of are competing with some of the lower end stuff, especially with products like this, but the performance is great, especially for the money, and even if you happen to have these one-off, the one that’s problematic, the warranties off of their customer service and everything you read online about it is really great, and you certainly can’t complain about that.
The other factor I think I left out is that it’s a just under 12 ounces in weight. I know that’s something that a lot of folks are really concerned about when adding it onto their rifles. So I think that pretty much covers it. If you guys have any questions that we didn’t cover here in there Ruby and always post below in the comment section, we’ll also put a link to boar Texas site below.
So if you have like specific product questions that I might not know about, you can ask them as well, but thanks for watching thanks for subscribing and I’ll, see you the next video.
Hey I’m Jimmy over at vortex optics and today we’re here to have a little flip mount combo. The vmx 3t adds a three power magnification to virtually any AR height red dot sight. So let’s have a look simple, fast and effective. The push-button design engages and disengages the flip mount, allowing the magnifier to lock into your desired position. The result, a 3 power, magnified view or unmagnified view all at the push of a button, just press and flip quick and easy optically.
The lenses are fully multi-coated maximizing resolution, light-gathering capability and color fidelity and the vmx 3t gives users a generous three and a quarter inches of eye relief. With the thirty eight point, two foot field of view at 100 yards, the magnifier is also nitrogen. Purge for reliable, waterproof and fog proof performance in the field. The vmx 3t does not require any special sighting.
However, the dot centering screws can be helped to Center the red dot image in the vmx three T’s field of view. Please note these screws do not change the sights point of aim. You’re, not citing anything in when you adjust these knobs. They simply align the view of the magnifier with the red dot sight if you’re looking for a simple, reliable, 3 power, magnifier, the vortex vmx 3t magnifier in flip mount combo is the way to go check one out at your local vortex optics dealer, and if you choose to purchase one, you can rest assured in knowing that it is covered by our unlimited, unconditional lifetime.
Vip warranty thanks again.
Hey guys operate seven here. This is a review of the spark DMX – 3 T magnifier. This is the 3 x magnifier, which I’m using right now with my red dot. This is a vortex park, red dot. You can use it with any airsoft grade red up because the lenses are so clear and so good. They work really well with just about any readout but I’m using it with the vortex part. As you can see, they really work very well together, and this magnifier is very easy to mount I’m going to show in a minute right now, I’m going to show you how easy it is to use how to use it and what other options you have in order all set up right now, so I’m gonna just show you how this is done.
Okay, in order to use the magnifier and to transition from magnifier to red dot. All you have to do is with your thumb and just press this button. Okay and then, with your index finger or your middle finger, just flip it to the side and you’ll go to read off mode. Okay, as you can see, this is done very fast, very easily in just a few seconds. I’m going to do exactly the same. All you have to do is push it in and then flip it to this side.
So once you you become, you see this a few seconds. Okay, this right now is working. The flip is going to the magnifier going to the left side, because this is a standard mode. So this is the the way that that comes from factory that vortex has in the manual. However, I prefer to use it flipping to the right hand side, because right here it just gets too close to the face. It covers and works. Much of of the of my vision and so I prefer to mount it in such a way that it will, instead of flipping to his hands, I will flip to the right hand, side and, however, there’s an inconvenient in this.
The the button won’t stay won’t be any the button will change its placing it will go to the front part, so we can go from the back to the front and it will be a bit harder to reach, but I’m going to show you how to do this right now. Okay, so in order to disassemble the the magnifier, all he has to do is unscrew this okay, it’s already off and, as you can see, that a couple screws down there then use the screwdriver to unscrew them and the mount comes right off.
All you have to do right now is just slip the mount around and screw these back on. Okay, it’s not ready to mount the other way around. As you can see. As you can see, the the button is right now on the fourth and but it works much better like this. As you can see, okay right now, it’s a little bit different. What you have to do is weather with your index finger or your middle finger, just reach the button on the front and then perhaps using the the index finger just flip it to the side.
Okay and then again, so you always have to to take your hand off the gun in order to flip the magnifier to the side, but it’s your very easy and fast process to do, and it works really well, when I’m going to show you how how great it looks and how the quality of the lenses? Okay- as this is just to show you how clear the lenses are right now taking account that the we’re looking through the vortex Park, it has a blue hue. It has a filter, that’s why it gets kind of bluish, but it looks really well really cool and I’m gonna flip it to the side, yeah, okay, so there’s the vortex long.
Let me try to get the results very easy with the camera and here’s the the magnifier looks really well okay, so it has a very clear image, very crisp and very good and just flip it to the side. Again there you go very good, very nice. You don’t read out quite thanks for watching guys. You.
