Reason why i like thumb loops is that when you’re putting on your gloves you can actually slide your gloves on and you and your sleeve doesn’t disappear at. Your wrist house it keeps things comfortable it could also bring the. Ends of the sleeves down over your knuckles so basically they’re almost starting to act as hand warmers the. Other thing about the garment and it’s all about attention to detail is you will notice that the garment is cut very. Hi everyone today I’m taking a look at. The battle equipment eclipse hooded zip-t so lightweight fleece mid layer. Stroke base layer i tend to use it as a. Lightweight mid layer rather a base layer basically because the fit isn’t really skin tight so i can fit a. Close-fitting base layer underneath and use this as a lighter weight mid layer. Maybe underneath a thicker mid layer or. If it’s not that could then just as a. Standalone mid layer it’s made from. Ponte auto tech no stretch fleece which is a lightweight gridded fleece material. So on the inside the fleecy sections are. Cut into a grid pattern i really like. Gridded pieces the increased surface. Area of the grid helps trap more heat so. You get a better warmth to weight ratio before the fleece also helps with. Readability against surface area it’s. More surface area to transport the moisture away from you away from your body and wicks well it is not wind. Resistant at all is there’s a one downside compared to maybe a traditional fleece or a slightly hard face to face. The grids obviously leave big gaps. Which the wind just comes right through so bad to use underneath something if. It’s windy there are two weights of fleece used in this top the gray. Sections under the arms down the sides. Around the bottom hem all the way around. And the back of the neck. And around the mouth piece are all a. Lighter weight than the red sections which is everywhere else so you’ve got a zoned sort of climate control where you. Really do expect to be a bit more sweaty and the arms fall where you want slightly lower profile around the lower hem or around the wrists you’ve got a. Thinner lighter fleece the sleeves on. This is long very long as you can see i. Have really long arms i normally find. Sleeves too short these are really nice and long the integrated thumb loops work. Well they’re really comfortable there’s plenty of length that you’re not putting. On any part of the sleeve to put them on. But if you don’t want to use them then it sits very nicely and you can move really easily very stretchy material as. Well you have one zipped chest pocket. Quite small enough space for a mobile phone a couple of snack bars or something and a deep zip past it. Preventing and just make it be easier to. Get on and off the real masterpiece of. This top is the hood which is pretty. Unique in that it’s a really close-fitting hood so will fit really nicely. Under a helmet or under a hat or anything give some light warmth as well. And you also have a balaclava style. Front piece which is you zip the main. Zip all the way up you’ll see it tapers off to an angle so that it’s not in line. With your mouth it’s out of the way and if you get that all the way up to the. Top you can get a balaclava complete bal. Collar style like that and you can if. You tuck the sides of the hood in it gives a really close fit so that it’s barely any of your face showing well you. Can drop it down and really easy to move. Due to the way it’s constructed the. Mouthpiece is stitched slightly back. From the end of the hood so it’s almost hinged by there so if it was connected. To the front of the hood you wouldn’t be able to do this you’d have to unzip it, so they’ve done been really clever and how they’ve designed that so that really. Easy to use and you can also drop the. Hood back easily without unzipping it. Have the mouth up hood down really no. Problems using that really easy to use innovative i really like it you have a. Small beard guard or chin guard at the top of the zip as well obviously for more comfort the material on the. Balaclava part is really easy to speak. Through and breathe through because it is the thinner gray material although. It’s not not really wind resistant at. All like i said before so you know. They’ll give you some warmth and maybe. Cut a tiny bit of wind out but if it’s a. Really biting windy you’re gonna want something a bit more substantial around. Your face to keep the window it’s cut. Quite long which you can’t see but it comes down well past my hips which is. Nice that you don’t have it riding up at all when you move and it’s really low. Profile so it’s not obtrusive underneath. Trousers or anything i really like this top it’s versatile it uses some really. Great fabrics fits really well comfy. Uses some really great innovative features especially around the hood if. Hi I’m jamie from powder seven comm I’m here to talk to you today about hester gloves we’ve got a full selection of hester gloves as you can see here and there’re several things about the historic love line that i think is pretty. Important to talk about i guess I’ll start out with the seth morrison pro. Model as you can see we’ve got kind of. An old-school racing design on this. A very soft and as you know when you’re skiing in that colder weather oftentimes you get a little bit of a runny nose these gloves contain what’s called the. History handcuff it’s basically attached. To the glove and it’s got a little. Fluffy thing that goes onto your wrist right here so that you’re not going to lose your gloves you can take them off and you can have movement but it’s still. Attached super nice the glove has. Zippers on the side basically once you put the glove on you can tighten it up. And the zipper is a waterproof zipper it. Does have a waterproof liner on the inside and also with insulated liner. Which is basically high heat high. Insulation with low weight and in terms. Of the actual waterproof they have what’s called the c’s own which is kind of their version of a waterproof laminate that goes inside the glove in. General these are super high and super. Comfortable warm durable gloves they do need to be. Treated occasionally because they are leather but this particular kind of leather is actually pretty. Water-resistant and over time it will. Gore-tex membrane so it’s going to be 100% waterproof the gore-tex material is. New this year so it’s a lot softer feel to it’s gonna be less noise as you’re. Moving if you look at the front of the jacket you’ve got two hand pockets one chest pocket and a new this year viz lon. Front zipper the vis line is gonna be a 100% waterproof zipper and when compared. To the zippers of old jackets this one is much easier to operate up and down which is nice you’ll also notice that the sidewinder has an offset a zipper edging up to the top which is where the sidewinder gets its name from and that’s simply to prevent zipper stacking with your mid layers underneath which is again just going to keep that water out overall it’s a oversized free ride jacket it’s. Got longer arms which is really nice especially if you’re snowboarding a little bit of a baggy or fit compared to most arc’teryx jackets it does come with. A storm hood which is really nice helmet full helmet compatibility and you can. Really dial it down to fit really nicely and it’s got a nice little brim to keep snow out as you move into the inside of. The jacket you’ve got a nice little fuzz on here it’s not insulated but it has a. Nice feel to it doesn’t is it rough on the skin you’ve got a nice little media pocket on the left and then you’ve. Got a nice little goggle slash glove pocket on the right here and additionally it does come with the sliding locks snap system down on the powder skirt which is a seamless integration with the art eric saber pant. Just to keep that extra snow out on those deeper powder days overall the. Sidewinder is a really great jacket that we recommend for size comparisons I’m. About 6 180 pounds and this is a medium. Hi I’m Brigitte and this is slope style. I’m here with alex from the north face we’re here to talk about the freedom. Insulated pant as well as freedom shall. Pants so alex can you tell me the difference between these two pants yeah. The place to start with the difference between the two is that we have an insulated option that features 60 grams of our heat seeker insulation, and we have the shell version which doesn’t have any insulation at all it’s just simply that just a shell okay so when. Deciding which one to purchase how should you decide yeah there’s a few factors that you want to think about when you’re deciding between these two pants i would say first and foremost you have to ask yourself if you’re the kind of person that runs hot or if you’re the person kind of person that runs cold if you run a little bit warmer than the shell pant might work really well for you if you’re always cold and you’re always grabbing for that blanket when you’re lying around the house then the insulated pant might be great for you the other thing to think about there is what you’re layering underneath them if you’re wearing a fleece pant underneath your ski shelf and the shell pant is the way to go if you just wear a lighter base layer than the insulated pant would serve you well i think the last thing to think about is what kind of skiing conditions you’re gonna be on a regular basis if you’re skiing in the east coast where it’s really cold from time to time the insulated pant would probably be best for you just kind of depends on region as well okay good. Yeah what about the fit i know it’s hard. Hey guys and welcome to simply peace today we’re going to be taking a look at the north face thermoball jacket so let’s take a closer look at the jacket obviously this jacket has — waterproofing so it’s going to be nice and waterproofing that’s going to keep you nice and dry but also keep you well ventilated as well what it’s taking a closer look at the features now showing so first off you do have your nice traditional ski past pocket you can pop it in there and then away you go zip it up and it looks keep it safe and secure also in here you have your lens your goggle cleaner as well so you can pop it on there and then wipe your lenses accordingly as i say that being on a bit of elastic is going to keep it safe and secure say put your ski pass in there. You can swipe your arm and then you’ve got access to the lips obviously you’ve got your traditional should we say adjuster on the sleeve itself just basically means it’s nice and playable as i say even if you’ve got the gloves on that’s quite a nice and easy motion to actually get on and off but as. I say it’s nice safe and secure right so the actual jacket itself you’ve got to traditional chest pockets a nice and. Spacious on the inside you’ll be able to get your mobile phone your wallet your keys and say whatever you pop in their zip it up and it will keep it safe and secure you got nice traditional hip pockets as well and a nice little feature about this one you’ve got nice large space at the front there but when you also have is a discreet pocket on the side as well. This is also fleece lined so if you want to stick your hands in there to keep them nice and warm so say if you’re not wearing your gloves you can do so and it’ll keep you nice and warm you’ll get nice and spacious, and they are secures it as well we’ve distracted it. You do have a pit vent because it’s a three-in-one system which you’ll see the actual jacket itself in there now and basically means you’re going to want to keep the institute wall she would say the airflow throughout so it’s going to be fine in the morning but after probably a couple of hours you might get a little bit warm it’s the fact that you can open them up just means you’re going to get nice cool air throughout well you’ll notice is well on the front pocket you do have a nice high collar so it’s going to keep you protected from wind chill on the neck but yet again it’s nice and spacious so if you have a scarf or a shoot on there you’re not going to have any issues anyway let’s. Open them up let’s take a look at the inside of the jacket obviously what you’ll notice you’ve got a nice large storm flap on the front now and then you also have another one on the inside so the waterproofing is going to be good as well as the insulation so that’s going to help reduce the windchill get into your core body temperature as we take a look at the inside you obviously see the inside of the insulated jacket now this is obviously a synthetic but it’s going to keep you nice and warm if you just want to wear that separate loan unzip it like. That and then hey presto you’ve got yourself a separate jacket the actual jacket itself has got to secure pockets. On there you have nice and spacious on the inside, and they’ve got a nice secures it as well it’s nice and lightweight a net your jacket itself on the inside got a nice mesh material that works with the breath ability is going to be key with the high vent and then obviously you’ve got yourself a nice goggle pocket on there as well as i said. Nice and spacious you can already fit your goggles and your gloves in there as well depending on obviously the size of all your gear right let’s zip this up and the way this. Zips up is like your basic three-in-one. System as well so you’ve got zips either side and then if i just show you on here you’ve got a toggle system that’s attached to the steve just unclip on them unzip on them and then hey presto. The jacket itself is our water will do just quickly let’s open up this side as well obviously that’s the same side you’ve got a nice secure pocket on the synthetic but you do have another pocket on here as well and what you’ll notice as well is that you got your earphone jack as well loop it through there and then you can have your music playing in your ears we will notice on the bottom. Part you do have your traditional snow. Skirt as well so this works to say you. Can do it two ways have it connected like it is at the moment that’s going to work really well if you’ve got the insulated jacket in but if you don’t have it in you can. Connect it up so if i actually take it out here’s we can see that a lot better. Pull that out and then you can connect. It just like your standard insulated. Yeah so say that’s just like your standard snow skirt as well and as i said that keep it all in place what you will notice as well just have a slight pulverization on the bottom there which is going to basically hold nicely against your ski pants or your ski seller pets so yeah it’s the same nice quick easy three-in-one system you get a. Nice little you know insulated jacket as. Well as a nice waterproof jacket as well but let’s take. A look at the back part of the jacket once unzipped all these up as i said a. Zips themselves as well just as i go through them they’re nice and easy to handle nice and easy to unzip no jams or anything like that anyway in the back it has an alpine fit to it so it’s slightly lower in the balm section and it does have a fit to it that means the jacket. Itself is going to move around with you so if you’re doing a bit of back country you know you’re in a you’re in a snow park anything like that it’s going to move with you rather than against you but using the toggle system on the front it’s all about the hood so on the back here you’ll see another toggle system probably the toggles at the front put on the toggles at the back will adjust the hood accordingly so you can get it to fit your head whether you’ve got a beanie on whether you don’t have any one just readjust your goggles in your hair or if you’ve got a helmet on you can play around with it once you’ve played around with it what you’ll notice is when you look left and when you look right the hood itself will move with you they all play a key part though to the peaked hood and now this peaked hood of this jacket is awesome so that’s going to give you clear vision all the way through so you’ll be able to see where you’re going where you are and also look back and see where you’ve been it’s going to be great for peripheral vision perfect if you’ve got nice goggle or nice wide goggles as well anyway if you want any more information on this jacket please visit our website simply paste com. Hi it’s brad with back country skiing. Canada calm, and we’re here at kokanee glacier park for the week skiing out of the hut and as you can see behind me here it’s mid-may well early may and spring. Has come earlier to the kootenays it’s pretty warm out, but we’ve been skiing here all week, and we’re gonna talk today about the black diamond dawn patrol pants which I’ve got on these are fall. 2013 pants black diamond has gone into. The apparel industry soft goods rather than just all their hard goods that they’ve had we’re big fans of black diamond and these pants are no exception they are a blue sign certified which. Means that in the manufacturing of them the environment is taken into account as is the workers and the materials used so there’s not a lot of waste the pants are. Super comfortable super stretchy they’re made of the shoulder stretch woven fabric so there’s a lot of give to these pants in both directions they’re. Fairly lightweight, but they’re warm enough on colder days we’ve been turning in the morning where it’s well below zero and then in the afternoon we’ve gone as high as fifteen degrees out here and thankfully the don patrol. Pants come with these large zips to vent so i can vent all the way down to my boot and i can also vent and bottom up. If i want as well at the bottom you can. See the reco there is built in and there’s a really nice feature at the bottom there’s a mini gator so it doesn’t cover over the whole boot it just keeps the snow out which i really like and it doesn’t get in the way. On the brown color but when it’s really sunny and hot like it is the last few days i didn’t get as hot in these pants i switched over to a pair of black soft shell pants and immediately got really hot so the color does help in that respect the pants retail for $2.99.
