Please follow description, link, hello, everyone welcome back to techy pocket, and today we’re going to be reviewing these very strange race face chester pedal. I guess you could say copies. They look exactly like race face chester pedals, except they have a little bit of a weirder name. The ones I’m reviewing reviewing here are the normal. Bearing version the company offers a special version called a needle roller bearing. However, when I looked at all the reviews for the needle roller bearing being used in a mountain biking situation, everyone said that they broke within a week or so due to the rugged use that mountain bikes do so.
I recommend you opt for the normal version if you’re going to be using a mountain bike, otherwise go ahead and go with the needle version, because it rolls a lot easier. Now, these copies are perfectly identical to race, face chester, pedals, they’re, half the price, also and they’re, actually very good quality. The quality is nearly identical to race face. You can’t really tell that much of a difference, except for that instead of saying race face. It says this all over the place now to the pedals.
I’m replacing are not grippy at all, as you can see right here and after putting these pedals on they’re, so grippy I’m never able to get my shoes off of them. It’s actually kind of hard sometimes, but it’s a good thing that they’re grippy now I do have to say I never tried race face chester pedals, so I don’t know how grippy these are compared to those, but a lot of people say that they’re pretty much the same. So I’m just going to say that here so basically, I think these pedals will work perfectly fine compared to race, face chester pedals.
So really there’s no need to spend the 40 dollars on race-based. Chester pills just go ahead and get these pedals unless you don’t wanna, have that name all over your pedals, okay guys. So that was pretty much it for this quick review. I will drop a comment down below to let you guys know how these held up after a few months, and if I don’t drop a comment that just means everything’s going well. If I do drop a comment, then I mean something bad okay, so thanks for watching I’ll, see you guys later, you.

Unboxing of these masseur MZ yr h, or something like that mountain bike pedals and I am going to compare them and contrast them with the pedals they’re very similar. They are race, face Chester, knock-offs, very inexpensive off of Amazon, but there is not a lot of information out there about these. So this is how the Missouri, however, you pronounce it pedals arrived. They come boxed I, think there’s at least one other unboxing video out there. So basically your standard race face Chester clone washers and it looks like two extra pins see and the other pedal so pretty straightforward.
Let’s put this away and take a look at the two side-by-side. So the orange pedal is a Chester are not as Chester pardon me. This is the the pedal, and this is the m z, yr, h pedal. This is brand new. Obviously, and this I just got recently. It has been used a total of one time, so it still can pretty much as new condition, so the dimensions are similar, but not exact. If you look at the dimensions on Amazon, it looks like the Missouri is a little bit taller. I. Think I think, but now that I actually have them on top of each other, they appear to be virtually identical.
There’s really not much difference here. So what I can tell you about. Other features is the surface on. This is very flat, whereas this one has some texture to it and has some branding right. There’s a hooker pedal. Has it on the side stamped. This has got an embossment here and yes, no branding on the side. It they both I, think are have triple bearings in them, so they’re very similar in that respect, but you can see they’re, definitely not clones of each other.
This has like a hole here to get access to this pin, whereas the hooker has is basically a carbon copy of the Race Face effect, so I will weigh them and we will kind of see how that goes. Okay, we’re back and I had to take the plastic cap off of the black pedal to get an accurate weight, so we’ll do the hooker first and we are at 180 grams, whereas I believe this would be a little bit heavier, but I don’t know for sure. It’s 2 grams lighter not much so almost identical.
Now one thing I do want to do is weigh the other pedal. I went away, the other pedal to see what the tolerance are are in the manufacturing. So okay, this is the second pedal. I had to pause the camera to take the little plastic protective cap off so 181 and we’ll go back to this one again, no I’m showing up as 183 and there’s a so. Let me just zero it again just to be on the safe side. Okay, I’ll call this one number one. This is the very first one I weighed women during the unboxing.
That’s at 183 it will zero it again. We’ll call this one number, two all right, so very, very close other thoughts to perhaps consider so they both seem to have about the same amount of play. Like I said this, the orange hooker pedal is one that I have used only one time, so it’s just recently installed. Let me see the pins on these are round. Let me double check. I’m, not sure about depends on these pins on these are round as well. So they are very, very similar.
I picked these up for like a little bit under $20 and the reason I have a couple of pairs of the pedals. They have been very, very good. I have nothing bad to say about them. However, the prices went up a little bit on those two about $27 for a pair of black ones and I wanted a pair of black ones for one of my bikes. So I opted to give these a try, just in case they. These appear to be very well made. I can definitely say the pedals have been outstanding. On the other pair that I have that’s still mounted on my bike.
These new ones taken out ridden one time great I anticipate these will be absolutely fine as well, but anyway, that’s it. Just not a lot of information about these this brand here and so I wanted to throw something out on the web for people who might be trying to figure out whether they should get a or one of these less expensive ones or, of course, the Race Face Chester’s are always a great option, especially if you can find them on a decent sale.
Now we’ll go through the process of removing and replacing a petal that uses a wrench. Take your wrench with the crank facing towards the front of the bike and attach it to the pedal in a direction that is in line with the crank and as parallel as possible, hold the pedal and push down to loosen the pedal from the crank, but continue in the same direction. Until you have completely unthreaded the pedal from the crank now to replace a pedal using a pedal wrench.
Take the pedal, put it next to the hole in the crank so that the threads are solidly beginning to engage, insert the wrench on the pedal in line with the crank arm always facing towards the front of the bike. Then, from the top push down on the wrench to begin to engage the threads and continue in this direction. Until you have tightened the pedal to the crank and now you’re done.

Hi, I’m tim with craig brothers and today we’re going to talk about how to install your crank brother pedals onto your bicycle. First thing we want to do is we want to determine left and right spindles and the way you’re going to do. That is, if you take a close look at the spindle itself, you’ll see that on the left, spindle there’s a groove on the spindle itself. Another way you can tell is by looking closely at the threads of the spindle you’ll, see that they point up and to the left on the right, spindle, you’ll notice, it’s flat and smooth on the spindle ledge, and also the spindle threads point up and to the right we’ll go ahead and get ready to install this one onto the right-hand side check with the manufacturer and see if they use pedal washers or not.
If they do install that first go ahead and apply a little bit of grease to the pedal threads. So we get the proper torque and then a little rule. Thumb that we like to use here crank brothers is an over the top and towards the front technique. As far as the wrench turning direction once you have, that started just go ahead and take that until it makes contact with the crank arm and we’re going to tighten that firmly to 34 newton meters. Go ahead and repeat the process on the other side, again grease the spindles and again we’re going to turn over the top and towards the front snug to 34 newton meters and you’re, ready to ride bye.
