What’s going on YouTube metal complex here. And today I’ve got a knife. That is long overdue for this channel a lot of. You guys watched me unbox. While back this is the cold steel American lawman. This specific version is actually in s35vn. This knife has had three versions as far as I’m aware of the original in off eight with a Teflon coating the then the upgraded version. And CTS xhp they moved to the DLC coating which is the coating you’re seeing here. And then most recent version which is in s35vn it’s my understanding. You can still get the CTS X HP version. This version in s35vn running uh. One for 75 bucks on eBay brand-new. And free shipping -. It was a great deal but. You can get him anywhere from 75 to 85 dollars so anyways let’s go ahead. Some measurements on. This guy so overall length the American lawmen coming in at about 8 inches overall blade length coming in at just shy of three. And a half inches total cutting edge coming in at exactly maybe just a hair over three inches it’s got a nice forward oil there so of course I’m a huge fan of. How about up against the Ontario rat model. One coming in at eight point six inches overall. How about the spider coat our military — up against again — 83 inches overall for the PM -. How about the bench made reptilian should be in the same territory here eight inches overall. Another sweet spot knife for me. How about the spider code Delia Spyderco delica coming in at 7 inches overall so.

This is a nice 8-inch overall three. And a half inch blade style knife. You know very common ground for you know the well III know. This is a preferred measurement for a lot of people let’s go ahead. And get a weight on. This guy zero out my scale there okay women coming in at zero hang on. What is going on here there. That was weird come on zero out okay American lemon coming in at four point. One three ounces as pay to put. It back down 11 three ounces just a little bit over four ounces that’s gonna kind of nail. It for a lot of people really works for me. This is a carry size. And weight that is very preferable so anyways actually.

You know what before. We move on let’s go into the paper cut test. Some people like some people hate as always the paper cut test is not a definitive cutting test it’s basically just for me to give. You an example of the edge right out of the box versus the universal slicing standard the paramilitary -. You are gonna get something out of. You won’t that’s perfectly fine it’s honestly it’s probably. More for me anybody else so let’s take a pass with the pm — first pm — so. Isee as ever how about the American woman also extremely slice okay so. Ihaven’t done that I’ve had. This for a long time. Ihaven’t done yet truthfully. This knife has been pocket demoed by a gentleman. One of my friends who wants to buy. Igot about you know 100 bucks to spend I’d prefer to keep. It closer to 50 you recommend. We kind of toss some stuff back. And forth I said I’ve got an American lawman. Ithink is awesome spoiler alert. This knife is awesome. Ican sell it to ya for about 60 bucks its brand-new.

And unused you can carry. It for a little bit. What you think so he hasn’t used. This he’s been carrying it. And he’s definitely gonna buy. It but anyways I’ve had. Some time to carry it around. And mess with I just haven’t caught with. That truthfully surprised. Me the edges is nice and think there’s no resistance really on. That paper it feels very similar to the PM — I’m really pleasantly surprised by. That so that’s awesome so anyways like. Isaid trying to find places with. This piece of paper like. Isaid the American lawman has had three versions. Now the original version with the Teflon coating I watched a bunch of test videos. Because that’s what you do. You start to get into cold steel knives. You watch their test videos there’s their hard use demos. Whether it’s by cold steel. Or people like me who are just regular guys.

You know either talking about knives. Or going out and testing them. Inoticed I was like man. That coating wears off too quick. And then I found out. This is actually an upgraded DLC coating it’s actually really Pleasant looking it’s its kind of like slightly reflective really nice love. That coating but the Teflon coating was like. It looked more matte black but. It just kind of rubbed off so. This is much tougher. Some people are gonna prefer the xhp model which is xhp is kind of like a super s30v it’s gonna have a little bit. More edge retention a little less toughness but be stainless s35vn is gonna have good edge retention not quite as good as cts xhp but. It is gonna be tougher. And it’s also going to maintain. That corrosion resistance a fantastic steel for this knife. This knife is an IDI sized mega hard used knife. That is exactly it classifies. It really nice classic drop point style blade lots of room to drop towards the cutting edge which is probably why it gets so thin check out the reinforcement down to the tip that’s fantastic blade stock thickness is probably right around the same area as the PM 2 maybe a little bit thinner let’s compare.

It with the bench made group Tilian a little bit thicker. Than the bench made group Tilian a little bit thinner. Than the PM 2 so really nice blade stock thickness. You can see there the nose drops just ever so slightly at the tip really nice symmetrical grind looks great. All the way around cold steel really has surprised. Me with their fit and finish I’m honestly really impressed with. This is a very simple design. We have moving down. You know you can see the thumb stud there which by the way is. You could probably take. That out and make it left hand thumb stud but it’s like left. Or right-hand primary thumb stud anyways moving down to the scale solid g10 scales simple Torx head pivots.

Some pins back you’re holding in the stop pin. And the part of the back lock you’ve got Torx heads back here a nice lanyard hole you’ve got the pocket clip of course on the other side. Everything just mirroring this is a truly ambidextrous knife. Because the pot somebody in the comments section pointed. This out I was like oh that’s cool. They give another pocket clip they’re actually giving you the left-handed mounting pocket clip. This pocket clip curves so. You can’t flip it would. It would curve the wrong way so that’s. What the second pocket clip is for which is pretty cool cold steel appears to have a pretty good warranty. It shows that the knife is. Ididn’t see like limited. Or a time limit on it so correct. If I’m wrong but these are warranted for life for the original user. Or for the person who purchased. It which is pretty cool.

Idon’t have any experience with cold Steel’s warranty so. Ican’t say definitively. Or not it’s good but. They seem to stand by their product anyways let’s go ahead. And talk more about the body of the night so. Ithought for sure this would have steel liners on the inside. It doesn’t this is peel ply textured g10. It is g10 it’s not plastic on the inside. We can’t really see very well but it’s its completely liner –less. All the support comes from. This back spacer right here which. Ican’t tell if it’s g10. Or aluminum whatever it’s solid. And then you’ve got. This steel back spacer which is part of the triad lock. That thing is substantial enough to. Where there is there’s no flex. And the scales all solid. You can see the back spacer comes. All the way down here for support. You have you know let’s take a look at.

Now there’s no there’s no tube in there. That back spacer is metal. Somebody can confirm for sure in the comment section. You want but it’s not it’s light but. It is it’s absolutely solid. And substantial I don’t know. This knife really needs steel liners. You know yeah it would add to. That feeling of solidity. You would add some heft to. It but the way this is set up. Ithink it’s good to go. Idon’t see too many in fact. Ihave honestly never seen. Anything online someone says. Ihate the American lawmen. It broke right away. It doesn’t work I’ve never seen. Iread is the American lawman is. One of the best knives. That exists I beat the crap out of. All the time I’ve had mine for years it’s amazing. Is eight versions people are still carrying those around. They just don’t die. This is like the well. Idon’t want to say brand names but let’s see there’s a there’s a particular small pickup out there.

That is made by a manufacturer. That people are really we’re well aware of. They are notorious for going over 400000 miles. And just never dying so fill in the blanks as. You please I used to work at a dealership so. Irelate everything to vehicles anyways yeah just a really good design. And of course you know. Iwent over the try a block in the 8010 video but the three points of contact can. We focus okay three points of contact here of course the back lock stop pin tang of the blade. And then that hook under which. That blade actually hooks under the Triad lock as. It connects extremely solid no wiggle. Icannot wrench I honestly cannot wrench. This thing in any direction to get blade plate.

It is good to go some people don’t like the fact. You have to push down on. That back lock to disengage. This is not really a fidgety knife. You absolutely can. You can get your thumb in the right place. You absolutely can’t fire. It out like you can do. It with no wrist I mean it’s there but honestly. This is a working tool the cold steel American lawman is the exact line were tactical unnecessary tactical actually meets function. You know there are a lot of people out there who will buy. Any knife that is black military looking and it’s usually a tanto there are a lot of people out there who will just buy. That just you know. They won’t question the fact why it’s $20 they’ll just be like that’s clearly. You know an ultra you know it’s an elite knife. You know the lot of. Us in the knife community who have handled. More premium knives know. That’s kind of tactic by manufacturers to appeal to a certain group of people who are after.

That type of thing assuming. It is better anything else out there but it’s also appealing because it’s inexpensive that’s kind of the tactic cool crowd. You know your tack forces. You know frost Calvary make. Some stuff like that Smith & Wesson makes. Some stuff like that there’s a lot there’s a bunch. Imean those things are a dime a dozen there gas station. Ithink they’re like a hair above gas station knives the ones I’m describing but. You get up to a certain point. And the line is blurred. And you’re starting to transition. You know you kind of around. That $75 mark you see a lot of knives. That are better made. And like hat like this manufacturers line half of their line is kind of like ultra tactical. And then there’s more practical designs cold steel. Ithink fits perfectly in there for me a lot of their knives. And I’m stuck I’m sorry I’m gonna make. You guys met the Espada is. One of the most ridiculous completely unnecessary designs. Ihave ever seen I understand.

Some people are drawn to. That’s because it’s. You know really wicked looking and Sylvester Stallone threw. It into a dartboard. And in Expendables whatever. That was the knife that was in. That movie I think that’s a ridiculous that’s designed by cold steel. It has no practical utilitarian nature about. It whatsoever now knives like the American lawmen. However have the appeal of being you know. It says American lawmen on. It it’s its black that tactical look. Yet at the same time. You actually have a functional blade shape you’ve got a nice ergonomic handle you’ve got. Some nice just kind of minimalist. You know the way they have put the materials together is minimalist. And simple it comes in at an amazing price point $75 in. This case call it $80 for you know on average.

And it’s being made with. You know like I said gee thirty-five vnf 35 en is absolutely a practical steal. This theory that s35vn is gonna be the new d2 in like. One to two years, and we’re gonna start seeing it on sub 50 lure knives but that’s besides the point is its a really good steal have. Imentioned the ergonomics are fantastic oh my gosh look at. This primary grip fit your whole hand around. It forwards toil grip same thing love. This love this I’m always gonna be biased towards knives with a forward toil. This for the longest time. This was the only cold steel knife. Iever had any interest in then. You know the 8010 came along love. That everybody’s telling me code for maybe. Igotta check that out too but the American lawmen is it’s its the line. You cross over from a lot up for a lot of people.

That transitional knife. You know I was there too. Iwas younger I was like. Iwant to go to a flea market. And buy a $40 ninja sword to hang on my wall. You know for no reason. Iwas attracted to you know those trench knives. That had like the spikes on the knuckles. And the throwing stars. You know us grow out of. We get our hands on a knife. That kind of transitions. We start to we get older. We realize you know. That stuff doesn’t work. It takes up too much room the pocket. We realize oh my gosh it’s actually not made very well. You know screws back out the plastic breaks. Or cracks the blade gets dull immediately. And for me was the Kershaw blur the first. You know the first like kind of nicer knife for me the transitional knife was the Kershaw blur. Idid a video about. That but for a lot of people. Ithink the cold steel American lawman was absolutely. That transitional knife. They get their hands on.

They realized yeah it’s cool. It kind of feels you know. It kind of really it hits the nail on the head for. That need for that tactical blade. That sort of military looking or law enforcement looking knife but every single thing about. This knife screams utility. It is a functional tool. You can beat on this thing you can put. This thing in stressful situations the Steel’s right to handle materials are right the locking mechanism is right it’s well the tolerances are there like. Isaid no blade play. You can see it also came centered. Ican’t there we go centered up no rubbing this is a great knife. It is absolutely representing. That line there and for those of. You who have never checked. This knife out and been curious about. It at 75 to 80 bucks oh my gosh. Ican recommend this knife. All day in fact that’s exactly.

What happened my friend said hey can. You recommend a knife to. Isaid dude the American lawmen man. Imean go for I also recommended the blur. Some other stuff but. Ihad the lawmen on. You can try you know. This knife I absolutely love. Ikind of wish that there was so there’s. Some jimping back here. Iwas gonna change one thing give. Me a little bit up top just a little bit. This is a knife I’m going to bear down on. Iwould like to lock my thumb in back here you’re probably gonna be wearing gloves but. That spine is just a little bit slippery I’d like to see just a little bit of jimping something to catch my finger but really that’s.

It the pocket clip is just fine its kind of boring but it’s just fine. It holds on to the pants the peel ply texturing is heavy but. It works for this knife. This is an outdoor work knife. Some people are gonna EDC. It that’s fine it’s light enough. And just barely short enough to. You can kind of justify. That but that texturing screams. You know work outside with. Me outside me hard that’s that’s definitely. Ifeel about this knife. That cold steel shows. Everything pretty much exactly right. Now to be honest you know I’ve got so. Many knives I have a friend come. Me like hey do you have. One you’d recommend. And I’ve got one that’s in new condition. Ican make him a deal on then I’m gonna do. That but this knife so much. Iwill likely end up purchasing another. One for myself I don’t know. If I’ll go as 35 or CTSA HP. Idon’t think you can go wrong with.

One but Ross if you’re watching this enjoys. This knife beat the snot out of. It it will definitely serve. You well for forever. Something crazy with. It but you’ll likely still have. You know by the time you’re old. And you’ve got kids. You know maybe you can give it to them but. That honestly that’s. What I feel about this knife. II feel like as far as a folding knife goes. And durability this thing’s right there at the top. It should. You haven’t had an opportunity to check. One of these out you absolutely should go. And check one of these out anyways guys. That is gonna be pretty much. It for today I don’t know. Ipointed this out. And just so you guys know. It is called the American lawman. You can see there but. It is not actually made in the United States it’s made in Taiwan. And for a long time. You know that’s what held. Me back from cold steel knives is learning. Ithink there’s only. That are made in the United States the formax. Idon’t know what else but.

This is made in Taiwan that’s. They keep the cost down. You know but after having handled. Idon’t care they wouldn’t put Taiwan on the blade. That kind of bothers. You know he got in. Some way shape you have to say. You know can we just leave American lawmen on there. And ask 35 yen can we just leave. Ijust Taiwan or China on a blade just looks bad but that’s a little nitpick. It doesn’t matter it’s not gonna affect the performance of. This knife whatsoever. This knife is made unbelievably well go check. It put it’s awesome anyways. You guys enjoyed this video. You did please leave a like. If you’d like to check out my other content.

Ido of course have lots of videos of knives. That are either expensive. Or inexpensive or don’t like so check those out. You enjoy all my content then please subscribe to my channel. Because there’s definitely. More coming thanks again for watching and have a great day.

Welcome back my friends its brother tactical back with. Another blade today’s blade got the cold steel American lawman nice little folder retails for about a hundred bucks got at knife works for like sixty it’s not too bad don’t mind. Ijust cut my finger yesterday. And had to get seven stitches so. Ijust put that on there to protect. Idon’t bump hell of. It but anyways some nice g10 handle scales love GTA especially cold Steel’s. They really got I mean the grip eNOS is really there so that’s a plus just on the grip pocket clip left to right tip up carry only which is cool with. Me it’s not too bad a little bit sticks out but it’s doable that’s got a lock back it’s called the Triad lock supposed to be like a beefed-up version of a regular lock back good. It is strong you really got to push. It hard to make it disengage which is always nice and. Another thing I like is with. That little cutout there so. You can choke up which is cooling itself but it’s also safe to keep your finger there. And disengage you ain’t gonna hurt yourself so that’s a nice little feature but. It is a guillotine you close. You got to watch out for. That so the thing about cold Steel’s a lot of these folders are hack your freaking finger off so. Now go over the technical specs overall length eight. And eight inches blade length 3. And 1/2 oz 8 steel it’s got a drop point partial hollow grind the handle shape is very nice little finger cutouts little choice definitely works very well well-made. It is made in Taiwan but. It is a well-made knife. You know I do like.

Now the weight on this is four. And a half ounces a little heavy food for you. Nothing fancy that’s okay man just work out a little bit you’ll be able to handle. It yeah it’s its had four. And a half ounces I know especially with. All the bullets and stuff. You think you’re still in the military but it’s okay. You know I like guns. And bullets too but anyways I’ve got rip on him right but. Ido really like that extra spot just to choke up that’s nice just do. Some fine-tuning now the edge on. It was sharp it but the bevel was off a lot but. It put my wicked edge. Ibrought it to think four thousand grit maybe eight thousand. Ican’t really remember. It looks it’s at least four thousand grit so. This thing’s frickin rippin sharp its kind of got a single thumb stud but. You can get that with your left hand. If your lefty it’s just.

You can switch it around. Ithink so you are a lefty. You can flip that thing around so. You better but it works pretty good opens pretty nice rate. This thing fit and finish is good. You know Oz ain’t the best but it’s definitely adequate steel for the price. Ilove at like Ozzie. Ithink it’s a good steel good quality steel especially for the price. Idon’t at least give it a solid seven. And a half it is a very nice little knife thanks as always for stopping by. All my brothers and sisters into the next hungry me.

Please gentlemen well back to wild about gear your one-stop shop for outstanding gear reviews conversations. And discussions and gear. You can use in your life. And use them as a data point on a reference point for you to take a decision maybe so. This question a lot which folding knife should. Itake for camping and my answer always is please don’t take a folding knife for camping if. You need to take a knife for camping the only reason. You need a folding knife is. You would want it to be compact. And easy to carry and there are. Many compact and easy to carry options in fixed blade knives. That are full tang that will not break on. That do not have the issues of a folding knife has to give. You an example this is the outstanding SE can do. You can just look at. This knife is so small. And so compact yet incredibly versatile in its usage so why would. You need a folding knife but. This is not what the reviews of Apps I’ll keep the cycle timing you could also look at the SE is ruler to. This case in this knife of course. Ihad a friend who’s removed the black coating and actually converted.

You can see it converted. This into a convex grind gorgeous convex prime. This knife is a beautiful life look at the thickness of the tang. And look at the fact. That the Tang goes all the way through so again. You do not need to have a folding knife. You can have a fixed blade knife of the size. That matter the cold steel Roach belly. That is a cool blade. This knife is beautiful. Because it’s perfect for camping chores it’s perfect for food prep as. You can see it actually looks almost like a chef’s knife. Ihave always found. Any knife that. That fulfills the role in the kitchen is actually a great option so yeah. You could go with a knife like. This slightly bigger. On the SE and of course a lot bigger. Then the SE can do but. Any of these three knives are compact enough to carry with.

You on a camping trip without. Any problems having said. It was a hypothetical question. What would be the camp knife to take I’ve got a knife for camping to take which is the backup blade. Ireinforced the concept of a backup blade here a backup blade. That allows me to carry a folding knife because of its convenience well as a hypothetical question. Iwould have to give. You only one answer. That ladies and gentlemen is the cold steel American lawman let. Me remove this for the time being five. One second and bring this gorgeous plate back into focus in our lives ha. Now there are two things. That are critical in a folding knife. You would want to take camping the first essential thing is the locking mechanism. You have a knife that doesn’t have the. Most strong locking mechanism possible in a folding knife. It is evident impossible.

This knife will break exactly here. When you’re doing any heart. You start with it so it’s critical to have a fantastic locking mechanism the second thing. It must have is versatility as in. It should be able to do multiple tasks. You would want to put the knife through on a regular basis the third thing of course is the fact. It needs to be strong enough to do wood carving or wood processing as opposed to just full processing very important. It should have a very good grip. This slips out of your hand. Any of these nicely part of your hand. It caused some serious damage to. You as a person and of course. It needs to have a great ergonomics. And ships right so I’ll quickly take. You through with some of my key reasons for choosing this as an alternative camp knife should. You need to carry a folding knife with. Idon’t recommend a folding knife for camping tasks but should. You need this is the. One for you first and foremost. This knife raised around 125 grams.

That is seriously light. One of the key reasons for. You can see there are no steel liners in. These are two big slabs of g10 on the handle g10 is a material. That is very can be made extremely grippy. This case this knife is extremely creepy. This will not slip out of your hand in fact. This g10 is so grippy. Ican assure it will free your denim trouser pockets. You clip it on here so are 125 grams great weight perfect for carrying on a camping chore. Inever usually clip. It on my hog I usually carry. You know in a carry case like. It onto my belt it in my bag but. Inever usually put. That pocket because it’s so unnecessary having said. That the first thing of course is its lock. This knife has what we call the Triad lock from Cold Steel outstanding locking mechanism to give. You an example of what this means let. Ican get my light you can see.

That there it has a very deep cut here so to give. You an example this is a very deep cut. This bar here locks into. That cut mechanism is like. This is the knife here right which is like. This is the locking bar. It locks like I can assure. You probably the strongest locks possible. You lock your hand like. You can see how powerful. That is its the same mechanism the other interesting thing is. This clicks you can hear. That audible click with authority. What also is happening is. That there is this bar here. You can see there’s a bar here. That really takes all the weight of. This knife that bar is.

All the weight is concentrated on the center. That means is that the blade is not transferring its weight on to. This bar but actually transferring it on to. This bar in the center. You can see that allows. You to do is it gives tremendous traction control. And at the same time gives a lot of rigidity to. This blade I cannot show. You can see multiple videos of the cold steel American lawman on YouTube. You will find and large. This series of knife. This includes the Recon. One as well this series of knife with the cold steel triad lock are by. And large the strongest locking mechanism knives in the folding knife category probably in the world today having said. That’s of course. One of the things that. You will notice the second thing is. It has a very nice opening mechanism. It opens very smoothly very smoothly.

And closes one hand as well should. You want to but it’s a beautiful one-hand opening mechanism. You have here the third element of course is versatility. You look at this knife. This is a drop-point knife shape so. You see looking use a pointer here my pointer today is my uz tactical pen. This knife shape it’s beautiful. It has a drop-point blade. And so much belly here there is so much belly on. This knife which means. That it’ll be beautiful for cutting tasks like slicing vegetable preparation food preparation. Any task that involves the knife to be used in a beautiful slicing action. This knife would be perfect for another important thing. That to notice is the fact. You can actually choke up on. This blade there’s enough space here for you to choke up on.

This plate that means is. You can define tasks on. This it’s a fairly thick blade. This the way this knife comes across is. You can see just how strong. That tip is the blade carries on. All the way to almost the end at which time. You have the tip that moves in so. You just see just how powerful. This tip is so in case. You are digging into wood like. This there is really no problem. You will have no blade play whatsoever there is absolutely no blade play on. This life top to bottom front to back 0 play extremely strong life the other thing I love about. This knife is the fact. It has two toils I’m a big fan of double toys. Now I’ll tell you why first of. You hold a knife like. You hold a knife like. You can see it is impossible for your finger. Now to come out it’s locked in into. This area right it’s locked in.

If your fingers not going to slip out. And come this far that in my opinion is a fantastic way in which to protect your hand. And it’s a protection mechanism. When you’re using the knife the second reason. Ilove a double choil is. You can actually show up on the knife. Once you’ve chopped up on the knife. You can do some fine cutting tasks for example. You could do some carving you could do. Some a wood preparation. You can make feather sticks. You can actually do. Some very fine work on. This knife simply by the ability of having double choice. And for you to choke up often time as. You can see right this knife. You can see has what we call a hollow grind let. Me clean this for a second my fingerprints get imprinted so.

This knife has what we call a hollow grind. You can see how from here the knife kind of hollows out till. It reads reach to the secondary bevel. And then the edge that allows. You to do is to do a lot of fine cutting tasks it’s a beautiful slicer. And it’s one of the better working knives in the camp. That very versatile again finally. It will no stick almost. Isee almost needle nose tip. You can as you can see. You can actually do. Some fine tasks with the tip remember. Ijust banged the tip on the wood things happen to the tip as. You can see such a powerful knife but. You can actually do. Some fine work with. It in case there’s a splinter in your hand. You could remove splinters. You could dig into wood. You can do many. More self tasks with. This extremely strong. And powerful tip now let’s come to the handle has g10 slabs.

You can see the texturing here it’s extremely aggressive. This will not come out of your hand. You hold this knife in your hand it’s almost impossible for it to come out at the back of your knife on the g10 slabs there is. Some about of texturing but really. Imean it’s it doesn’t do much the knife actually doesn’t need. All because of the sheer texturing. You have in the handle as well as. This deep toilet will make sure. That your hand doesn’t slip out the clip really is ordinary III wouldn’t say. This is the best clip. What this actually does is very strong clip as. You can see very strong. And powerful clip but. It will shred your trousers. You are going to put. This clip into your trousers. This part here where the clip meets. This extremely aggressive g10.

This part is going to just lacerate your trouser pockets. And you’re going to rather shut the fuck is very soon. And so my submission is don’t carry. It in your trouser pocket carry. That case put it on your belt. You want it will be much. More ergonomic a way to carry. This knife very simple construction very ergonomic construction love the blade love the way. It performs how the other blades like. And the answer is yes of course there are the blades in the same category so to speak as a hard use camp knife. What could be those blades well first of. You an example this is the all-time great knife there’s the buck 110 folding hunter has been around for years in fact.

This is the folding Huntress probably the knife. That is the most copied in the whole world the outstanding Iike sweet 62 from Sweden. This knife is manufactured in Eskilstuna in Sweden. This ruling in of Sweden. And outstanding blade look at. That blade shape and look at the Scandinavian grind on. This love you can just beat on. This knife nothing will happen to. It oh yeah you can put. This through its paces as well strong baffle construction. You can see the wooden bolsters the brass bolsters the wooden the knife the strong back lock extremely strong in path of knife for. That matter you could look at the puma folding hunter as well.

This is from Germany France ruling it rights. Now there are other knives too in. This category a lot of my friends love to carry the paramilitary — there’s a spider core paramilitary — beautiful knife. That matter the spider calm military look at the size of. That break you hold the Spyderco military in your hand. You really have no way to appreciate the Beast. This knife is the problem with. This of course is it has a it’s not such a strong locking mechanism it’s a it’s its not meant to be a great camping knife really so. This anyway thin liner lock here spider common paramilitary on the other hand of course is beautiful locking back lock mechanism here but still not as strong as the pole steel. These knives all three of them our beautiful knives. And don’t get me wrong but. They don’t have a one-hand opening system so in case. Ineed to open this knife. It will always be a two-hand opening it is not going to be a one-hand opening system.

And really in a situation. Where you’re going camping you should always be able to keep. One hand for other tasks in. One hand in which you can open the knife call. Me old-fashioned but. This knife beautiful blade. Idid not put the context of. One hand opening this would be. One of my favorite times to create camping folding knives to take camping what can. Isay about the buck 110 falling under. That hasn’t been said before by the way. This is the Cabala’s version. This has a s30v steel yeah. How cool is that beautiful knife gorgeous design absolutely outstanding quality. You can beat it as much as. You want nothing will happen to. It but same story one hand opening there are 100 stores. You can put here and have friends we’ve done. That but it still doesn’t give. You the traction of a one-hand opening blade. And honestly it’s not. One I’m hoping rate is not supposed to be.

And then we come back to the American lawmen. Idon’t have to tell. Now you’ve compared the design of. All those knives you look at. Iwould still always prefer display to carry camping in case. Ihave to carry a backup plate not my mean are not not but my blade but my backup blade for camping this would. This would be it the still on display. This is an off state steel not the best deal in the world but having said. It sharpens back very quickly so. It will dull faster. Than say the s30v on. It will dull faster but. Ican assure you can sharpen. This really quickly on the field without. Any problems so you want to carry a folding knife to your next camping trip look no further. Than the cold steel American lawman. This has been informational. This is useful and do let. Me know your comments. And do subscribe to our Channel from.

Us at Wild About gear. You a wonderful day. And God bless thank you.

Hi guys its Rob from the Apostle P well after three years off YouTube after closing the RB Carnot channel. And being a viewer a subscriber commenter for a. Few years I’m back with a new channel reference my introduction video from yesterday but as you’re probably aware. You followed few years ago I’m pretty much a knife guy so as. Iplanned to restart my youtube broadcasting career. Iput a lot of thought into. What knife I was going to look at first the first knife video on the Apostle P. And boy I’ll tell what the knife I’m going to feature tonight I’m pretty shocked myself. This is the first one I’ve had. It for a few months as. You get to know me you’re going to realize I’m not a knife snob. Idon’t own a knife. Then $200 for been collecting for about 35 years. Ireally really appreciate the knife art but I’m also kind of frugal person it’s just not in the design of my life right. Now to have knives that cost five six seven hundred dollars so. Idon’t have what I do have is a case full of knives. That are extremely functional. And well-made a few months ago. Idid not own a I didn’t own a cold steel folding knife a. Few months ago I decided. Iwas going to wade into. That realm and discover. What this triad lock was. All about it looked great to. Me in design I know followed a little bit of the career of Andrew demo it’s designer. And inventor it’s pretty good stuff. Ireally wanted to buy a cold steel knife. They had to triad lock. Iwanted to do without spent a lot of money. Iwasn’t going to go drop $200 on a large Espada with. Us 8 steel and aluminum an aluminum frame.

That gets all scratched up in a week. That didn’t seem like a good deal to. Iwanted to get one of the stronger knives so. Iwent looking at the Recon 1 /a k 47 slash American lawman series. Ireally liked the engineering idea of super thick g10 slabs with no steel liners. And the theory of the strength of. That was pretty intriguing to. Iwent on the cheap. II decided to get a lawman. You can buy them for well under 60 bucks pretty easily. And interesting how. Isettled on the lawman really. Ireally like the look of the Recon. More but the lawman was a little cheaper so here. It is Rob’s American lawman hmm you’re noticing something right off the bat.

It doesn’t have the Teflon / tough x / paint. It on stupid coating and. Iget rid of that we’ll talk about. That in a little bit so. This knife in the mouth bought. It on eBay a few months ago not a cold steel fan don’t like Lynn Thompson don’t like the fact. That he’s a marketing company. And not a knife maker don’t like the fact. That the best you can expect is Taiwan production a lot of (China) there too but. You know this knife I’m going to get the negatives. All the way first horrible coding by. Some chemical stripper aircraft stripper. Any stripper that is rated to remove epoxy you’re going to need. Some soak time you’re going to need a soft steel.

Or brass bristled brush. You have to disassemble the knife. Idecided to strip my blade my lock bar. And my pocket clip which is also stone washed by the way as. Isaid going to need. Some soak time about thirty minutes. And then you’re still going to have to work you’re going to have to keep dipping your brush. And stripper and scrub. And scrub and scrub until the coating is gone it’s not. That difficult just going to take a little time. While you’re in there. Another complaint of mine about. This knife the machining in the critical areas is horrible. Iwould call it roughed out in the knotch. And the blade Tang where the Triad lock engages lots of tools marks the flatness isn’t good.

Or the parallel nature of. Some critical surfaces for instance. Where the radius on the back of the blade Tang rolls around the tip of the lock bar not very. Even contact the front of the lock bar word engages a stop pin. And as you’re looking at mine it’s shiny. And smooth that’s because. It shiny and smooth fraught with tool marks the nose of the lock bar the tooth of the lock bar as. It rides around the blade tang lots of tool marks made. It real gritty opening while. It apart I basically fluffed. And buffed it you’re going to want to do. That to yours you’re going to make the lock engage. More consistently you’re going to make the knife open. Or smoothly and you’re going to eliminate. Or greatly reduce the stick. These eyes like to have. When you’re disengaging the lock that’s pretty. It pretties much it for me on complaints except for him the notorious g10 that’s too rough to pull out of a pocket.

You just have to take the clip off sand. Ido not recommend the epoxy modification you’re not removing enough material to affect the thickness of the knife. Or make its profile look bad in. Any way just stand it so let’s smooth enough to get in. And out of your pocket put your clip back on. Now why do this knife so much but wait. More think before I get to what’s great the edge guys. Ihave subsequently bought a recon. Both the lawman and the recon. One came to me with jacked up edge geometry. You know this knife. You were to look at the. You were to look at the tip trying to get. This to focus for me the angle on. This tip was so bad from. One side to the other. Ihad like almost no primary bevel on.

One side it will almost look like a chisel grind. It was just horrible lots of grind marks in the approach. And symmetry was horrible so. You know that was a couple hours to fix. That no big deal you know it’s a $60 knife guys its one-tenth the cost of ademco ad ten. And probably darn near is strong deal with. It a knife that an on knife person can spend a little. He normally would to get a strong knife. You know maybe buy his $20 knives in. This case he splurges. And buys one for 60 is. He going to notice these things no he’s just going to know about a really strong knife. If you’re a knife guy who’s slummin a little bit. You know you like to buy sub Benz es. And Striders and handlers. You know high-end production knives are. You go to care you spend fifty-five dollars for American lawman. That has these little issues yeah you’re going to care but you’re going to understand why they’re there.

And you’re probably enough of the knife guy. You can fix them a little word about steel. It does have us ate a steel cold steel loves. That stuff and frankly up until. Ihaven’t been a big fan having said. Ithink the way cold steel processes aceite is very much akin to. What buck knives does with 420hc cold steel does use. Is ate a the a stands for annealed. That means before the blade steel is hardened its first annealed. That making a real uniform fine grain structure making it ready to harden. They use what they call a sub-zero quench after Austin izing or the hardening process it’s not really a quench. They put the blade into a deep freeze after it’s quenched in oil probably in. This case to refine the grain structure. And bring the grain structure out sometimes. You quench in a liquid. Some some of the structure that’s present at tap. You know 1700 degrees. Or so gets trapped and can’t fully develop into finished hard steel.

That oil you deep freeze the blade. It helps finish that process. And then it goes into an ore temper. Ibelieve that’s what Cold Steel is doing when. They say sub-zero quench which sounds way cooler. Because cold steel likes to sound cool. All the time what you get is blade steel that’s about 075 to 085 in with lots of good stuff. That makes it tough fine-grained resistant to chipping resistant to rolling takes fine keen edge. Ilove to sharpen off eight. You can get it so hair-splitting sharp. And the way the cold steel. He treats their blades. Iget to tell it holds a good edge. It really does not roll. Ihaven’t seen any of my cold steel knives chip. What you get is a little flattening almost print.

It almost performs like s30v. It deforms quicker than s30v but has the same characteristics. Ikind of like and it’s a great value for the money the blade on the lawman is about three. And a half inches long. Ithink it’s three and a half millimeters thick at the spine very deeply hollow ground super thin behind the edge a little thicker at the tip by design it’s a strong tip but it’s still a splinter digger. You need it to be especially after. You re profiling you’re going to have to kind of profile. That tip you like it’s a great slicer its strong grater goes. Imean awesome or goes forward 12 works great main toy works great reverse grip works great. Imean guys for less. Then $60 and a couple hours work the best knife in the world for. That kind of money that in spite of lint tops. And being Lynn Thompson will pray for him. What we owe by the way.

Idon’t really mention. This but completely. One hand able opening and closing depress the lock with. Either your knuckle. Or the end of your thumb watch blade drops safety chill right on your finger can’t cut yourself finish closing and listen to the SWAC coming out guys its pretty cool so in conclusion. If you’re a knife guy. Or not a knife guy but. You need a good knife. You got less than $60 to spend by a cold steel American lawman great blade steel for the money great construction for the money overlook. Some details and you’ll be fine super strong lock great pocket clip after. You stand down the g10. You know what if you’re not a knife guy but. You want to be you want a knife. You can tinker with a little bit it’s only 55 bucks take. It apart plays with it thumbs up guys. Imay make another video with the Recon. Or maybe you disassembly. How to strip video I don’t know just buy. One play with it yourself.

    Isaid play with it yourself.

Hello my YouTube friends late Boy Scout here. This is my review of the cold steel American lawman folding knife fantastic new knife from Cold Steel well a fantastic redesigned knife from cold steel behalf of American lawman have for some time but. This is the new American lawman the biggest change would be the fact. That there are no stainless steel liners in there whatsoever it’s. Ihaven’t really seen. This from any other manufacturer it’s kind of going out on a limb. And really putting a lot of faith in g10 as a frame material for a knife not just handle scale anymore not just giving texture to the handle but actually making up the structural frame of the knife Wow. Imean that’s its a big thing you know. That cold Steel’s going for this. And really they’ve pulled. This is a tough knife. Imean wow I’m really excited by. This knife I have been very excited about.

This knife for a long time. And well let me back up a little bit I’ve been really excited about the cold steel triad locking mechanism for a long time. And watching some of those cold steel videos which are very fun to watch those abuse tests. They beat up their knives. And really stress that lock putting hundreds of pounds of pressure on. That alone sold. That lock it just took. Me a little while to decide on which triad locking knife. Iwanted I picked the cold steel American lawman. Because mainly because of. This choked up soil right here which I’ll take. Any chance I get said so in. Another video that here on the bird carrot too also on the bird pro.

And the straps more the Manics — love. That choke up toil whenever. Ican get I love being able to get. That kind of fine detail turns a large knife into a small knife as far as its abilities its do fine detail work, so I’ll take. Any chance it came to a contest between the lawman the ak-47. And the Recon on the lawman won because of. That feature right there for me maybe not for you maybe. You don’t care about. That but for me I really love. And that’s why I chose the American lawman over those other two knives interesting fact. Though Cold Steel is pretty much revamping all their knives. This appears to be the case in the Cold Steel 2011 catalog looking at.

All the folders they have there. All seem to feature the Triad lock. You know they’ve hit on. Something really cool here guys it’s basically an improved back lock it’s basically. What it is it operates like a backlog right yeah but it’s vastly improved from other back locks that’s you’ve seen ok the Caracara 2 for instance back lock out the David Boy dent detent. Whatever you want to call. It but there is no stop pin involved the lock meets the blade. And that’s if there is ever. Any kind of loosening right here. You are know you’re gonna get loose there’s. Any kind of loosening in. That area that’s you know it’s just gonna get loose. And there’s no way to fix. What old steel is done has is. They have basically come up with a cross between a lock back. And let’s say a liner uh well. This is actually a frame lock which has a nice stop pin there for the blade okay. That stop pin takes a lot of pressure from. That blade any kind of forward cutting pressure it’s transferred to.

That stop pin which is then transferred to the entire frame right makes sense right well basically cold steel has done. That here that pressure is not transferred to the lock itself it’s transferred to the stop pin which is transferred to the entire frame okay so that’s why they call the Triad lock. Because there’re three elements the blade the pin lock. And well the frame I guess maybe in other elements but the pin. And frame kind of work together so that’s. One element together so yeah it’s a back lock improved it’s a back lock evolved. And I’m really excited about. It obviously cold steel is too.

Because it’s like I said in almost. All of their new knives. And I’m really looking forward to picking up. Some of those new knives. Iget a chance to some funds come in for those alright so back to. This knife comes in at a weight of about four. And a half ounces have AUSA 8th a stainless steel here it’s been fantastic for me riche sharpens well holds a good edge. And came pretty good. And sharp but to be honest. Ihad to have that kind of reap profiles professionally redone. And I’ll try to explain why this edge right here. Idon’t know if I’ll be able to show. Or illustrate in that edge right there was kind of ground unevenly. What you were looking at was not a sort of teepee like. Iought to be but rather. Something like or maybe like. This does that make sense.

You know that was the edge right there. And then the rest of the blade kind of came straight down so it’s just kind of ground unevenly in. That sense that to be a little. You know difficult with certain cutting tasks. Iwanted that to be right in the center so. Ijust had that redone didn’t cost. Me much like three bucks a local guy no big deal. Idid a little touching up myself to. And I’ve sharpened or twice since then as I’ve put. It through quite a bit of. You can see how tell. All about that use in a little. While here the blade length is. Something like three inches look at. Some like three inches for cutting area then the handle length is. Something like and a half no sorry about four. And three-quarters inch okay cool the g10 is a grittiest damn g10 I’ve ever seen him in life holy crap. You know I thought the Mannix 2 was pretty grippy.

Ifirst got it is its nice it’s a good balance of grip enos. And slide it in your pocket Ness. You know ease of drying it out. And putting it back in. This stuff abandons the idea of making it easy to put in your pocket. And says no this has to stay in your hand no matter. What so let’s make this grippy as hell. They have holy smokes. Ihad to stand underneath. That pocket clip you might be able to tell there had to stand underneath. That pocket clip in order to make. It doable for pocket carry that’s. How frickin grippy and I’ll probably stand under. That a little bit more it’s doing ok right. While we’re on the subject of pocket clip it’s perfect it’s about as perfect as a pocket clip gets short subdued blackened not as long as.

You can see this one’s ok but. This one’s just you know just only as there is. It much only as much there as. It needs to be doesn’t call attention to itself just barely there. Ireally really like. What they’ve done with. These pocket Clips by the way since as. You can see its kind of curves up like. They actually provided two pocket clips so. You can put the other. One here you prefer to carry. That way does not reposition up here at. All sorry for those of. You who like to carry tip down does not work yes. Iadded a lanyard to. That lanyard hole just a little strip of 550 cord. Ihad left over from a bracelet making and a little fancy not there.

And then what that’s called. Ilike having this here having put. It on there I realized. It kind of gives a little bit of nice pinky retention can wrap. That on there and get a nice grip on. That it’s nice you know it’s almost like. You know with a fixed blade knife I’d want to have. That around my whole wrist with the small EDC blade like. This I’m doing any hard work get. That wrapped around my pinky. Ifeel like the retention. That is approved in hand yeah. It talks a little bit. More about the blade shape it’s a little bit of a drop point here great belly to. It nice it’s just a great shape for everyday carry tasks for everyday use it’s darn near ideal. And a good tip for piercing a hollow ground from about here down.

And comes to a good fine edge which has just been marvelous for a number of hard use tasks thumb-stud as. You can see favors the right side right. Now but it’s very easy to unscrew. That right here both of these pop out. And then you would just kind of flip them around further. Than the other way screw. It back on and you’re ready to be left-handed. One thing I’ve heard other people say. One thing I can attest to with. This triad locking knife is the strength of the lock back. It sort of sticks sometimes actually it’s kind of stuck right. It doesn’t want to go that’s. What I’m going I have to bear down on. That there we go nor to get. It too closes and I’ve opened. And closed this knife. Many times so the fact. It still sticks a little bit sometimes well it’s good. You know it means that it’s gonna be a little tricky to close sometimes but. It also means this thing is nowhere near loose it’s nowhere near loosening up. And that’s very cool.

This thing is gonna last quite a long time I’m quite sure the lock up on. It is still good and tight front to back no movement whatsoever side to side only the slightest. And that’s because it through a little bit of hard use. Iadjusted the pivot screw. And brought that back to near factory settings as far as side-to-side play is concerned. That is well within my acceptable range jimping on here is basically cosmetic it’s kind of. You know a little bit of holes drilled into the back of the spine of the g10 that’s. All not the blade at. You know what I’ll take. It I’d like to have. Some chipping there but honestly for some hard use. This is its more comfortable to not have a lot of junk in there for some hard detail use yeah. If I’m doing some stabbing motions.

Some sort of emergency use definitely I’d like. That to be very well retained. However given that extremely textured g10. This wonderful soil right here. Idon’t feel like there’s. Any real danger of my hands sliding forward in a piercing motion. Ireally don’t feel like there is economics on. It pretties darn good pretty darn good a close second to the Manics — which is outstanding so the best economic belt on a knife price is around well its kind of very the best price I’ve seen for it is like 45 48 bucks. And the highest price I’ve seen for it is 70 ish so shop around you’ll find this for a great deal. It is a great knife for. That price I mean unbelievably good for. That price made in Taiwan yes I’ll take. It lets’s talk about. That hard use I promised. What did I do with. This knife to get all kind of scratched up.

And put through such hard use huh. Anybody want to know. How about carve a bow. And arrow for my son yeah that’s right carved a bow. And arrow out of bamboo not very thick bamboo but it’s just right for kids just. Some stuff you know was left over from a little decorative project. Somebody had as a decorative bamboo but. You know the decorative stuff is still pretty strong no. Ididn’t do this work with the cold steel lawman. Iactually took a jigsaw to make. This cut right here. You know go all the way up like. And of course this is straight at the time it’s kind of been. Iused a jigsaw first. And then for all the finishing work. You know shaved all down with. This knife here shave.

All down this is actually a pretty good boat. You know for a kid this thing shoots about 50 yards. And it’s been holding up really well yeah has a nice little cut out there for the arrow jealous aren’t. You wish one of these for you don’t. You yeah you do but. You wish that no just for my kids sorry. Iget to play a little bit too coarse cuz. It’s awesome put on like. That string the bow string curls like. That awesome it really works well. Ihad a couple arrows for it nice and high vis arrows. And feathers look at. That Gorilla Tape yeah gorilla duct tape. And of course a head a notch the arrows did not sharpen them. Though nope and that’s a little bit of dirt flying through the air landing in the grass.

That pain like this course cuz kids don’t have very good vision. It comes to stuff like. Idon’t know what their deal is but. They just can’t find it in the grass anyway. Some cool stuff. That I’ve made with my cold steel American lawman maybe I’ll do. Some video showing this stuff in action we’ll see anyway a lot of fun cold steel American lawman it’s fantastic knife yes it’s a bit thick. And pocket I don’t know. Icovered that about a half an inch I’ve said in the past. Idon’t like big thick knives for EDC tasks. However knowing the amount of abuse. This knife can take knowing the strength. It has I’m willing to take. That size that weight. Because well something really good in return for. That, so I’ll take it comes to little rinky-dink knives.

That are just kind of looking cool but. They won’t take anything as. You know and the same kind of abuse. This will take then oh thank. It to be nice and slim. It to be small and slim okay like the Kershaw chill it’s just an easygoing little knife getting small cutting tasks done yeah but. This to be nice and beefy fill my hand. And really be tough. It is cold steel American lawman. Iabsolutely love it highly recommends. It I’m Malay Boy Scout that’s my review of. This knife thanks all for watching and I’ll see.

Everybody doing today welcome to. Another blade HQ overview alright we’re gonna talk about. This cold steel knife today. This is the American lawman. And see it’s just a simple kind of drop point style blade with. This very slim profile handle nonetheless a nice tough knife from cold steel so check out the handle. That is g10 that fabric texture to. It is a lock back we’ll come back. And talk about cold steel triad lock a little bit later here. We have the pocket clip. That is for tip up right. Or left carry and go ahead. And give you a shot of. That in the pocket alright so that’s. What this knife looks like. When you’re carrying it in the pocket completely ambidextrous you’ll notice. This pocket clip not only is. It able to switch out to the left-hand side but. Because it’s curved. Provided a secondary lefty version of. That so you’d be able to enjoy. All the benefits of the curved pocket clip. You have the double thumb studs there.

You notice one side sticks out a little bit longer the other side. You can switch those out. You prefer to have a little bit. More to grab onto then. That lock is the lock back. You can access either hand in fact. This is the Cold Steel triad lock as you’ll see. Both the stop pin and. That lock bar it is super secure no blade play doesn’t go anywhere a very classic little drop a point blade on. It the steel is DLC coated. It is cts xhp steel again really slim profile in the hand. They have that forward finger choil. You want to get up there to do. Some fine cutting tasks. You can choke back just a little token jumping there for you it’s not going to give. You a ton of grip but those g10 handles will it’s also fairly light is just over five ounces. And the length on this is really nice length eight inches.
