Everybody welcome back jujitsu mm here today I’m back with an interesting video for you today. Iwant to show you the lodge 5 quart cast-iron Dutch ovens. This is a this is a stove top type Dutch oven. This ain’t the type. You can use at camp. You put the it has a little rim on the outside. You can put the coals on top. And the little legs but. You can use that application. You had to but it’s not. What this is designed for again. This is designed for the stove top. This is a really cool cast-iron Lodge makes beautiful stuff. These things come pretty seasoned. And I’m really excited about using this. Any kind of deep frying or. Imake fried chicken. Anything like I love using cast iron. It just holds the heat so much better so. Ipicked this up actually. It for my birthday present so the first look. You can see that the lid has. These little things on. Even know what you call. These little points. Now for those of that don’t understand. What those points are for this is a basting lid. That does is when the steam. That comes from whatever you’re cooking goes into the top here’s an older. It gets on these and the steam eventually falls off of these. And self bastes your meat that’s inside the oven so. They come very well packaged.
You can obviously see. That looks like they missed a little bit on the quality control right there looks like. That might need to be hit with a grinder a little bit. Nothing too major though but. This is a beautiful cast iron so here. We have the lodge cast iron cookware information basically talking about the legacy of lodge. That they’re preseason feel free to pause the video. You want to read this information it’s pretty cool I’m a firm believer of Lodge cast iron products. Ihave quite a few of them. You know I kind of originally thought why would. Iwhy would I do a video on. Imean it’s a pretty common product but I’m glad. Idid so here’s a little handout. You get show some of their other stuff. Ihonestly think that Lodge makes like the best cast iron gear. Ireally do their stuff is just off the book. Ihave quite a this is the. Ihave right here this is the five chord. Where is that number four so that’s the five chord right there that’s the.
Igot right except it has a different kind of lead. Because those handles are different but. You can see this catalogue has like a lot of their information that’d be cool make. Some pizzas but lodge. Imean they’re just amazing they don’t. This pot doesn’t have the legs on the bottom so. You could set it over to coals out at camp. This is a stove top version. You can make a pot of beans. You know again you have a self-basting lid. You really wanted to use. It at camp you could. You could put coals on top of. You had to that’s not really. What this model is designed for, so I’m I’m gonna take a grinder here. And I’m gonna kind of trim. This little area off on the inside. Idon’t think it’s you know. Something that I’d take. It back for I mean it’s. Something I can take care of myself really nice products. Iwas hoping to find now.
That hibachi grills. Something that might be interesting things kind of cool like 105 bucks. Something out of them. Iwas hoping there’d be. Now that’s the I was talking about see the rim. And then they have the legs keeps a muff off the coal up off the coals. And then you put the coals around the rim. Iuse those type a lot. This in fact is my first. That is a 5 quart anyway. That I can use here at the house, so I’m really excited about. It folks I want to say thank. You for joining me today on unboxing this new Lodge I’m really excited about. Ican’t wait to cook on. This thing it’s gonna be great. They last for a long time hope. Some good useful information out of. This video please feel free to leave your comments down below like.

It still works as good as. It did brand-new We’ve received emails from customers who have much older Whirley Pop’s. And are giving them to their adult kids. Or leaving them up at the cottage This original Whirley Pop poppers has an aluminum pot. And nylon gears make for smooth turning but the gears can break. And repeated usage Metal gears will allow for more turning pressure which is. What you’ll need you often make popcorn with sugars. Or glazes This is a Whirley Pop with an aluminum pot in Barn Red Looks great! This is a good choice for the occasional corn popper. And will work on all stove types except Induction stoves If. Everybody Joe tactical here again in. This video I’m going to be sharing with. Another cast iron cookware item. Idon’t know I got on. This cast iron cookware kit but I’m buying them up like crazy I’m going to have the whole set here soon. Igot a couple other pans today. You had to pick one to be versatile. Iwould suggest this is the lodged logic reversible griddle. And it’s reversible. It has ribs on the one side as. You can see but on the other side. It has the plain edge. Or plain edge too much nice videos right it’s a flat surface a smooth surface. Now before and show. You I’m just going to give a quick measurement. This is overall nine. And a half by 16 and 7/8 16. Something like now bear in mind. This part here isn’t really a cook surface at least on. This side alright something else too. If you’re going to hang. These up they really do a great job with the hanging ability. Idon’t know this is meant for hanging but. Iknow there are other skills. And stuff are really great. You wanted to hang them up just be careful don’t drop them on your toes.
Anything else because there’s. Some heavy pans here’s the smooth side. You can see this part here is reinforced. They really did a great job. You wanted to hang whatever. You were going to use hooks to put. It over a fire whatever your application is. This company has been in business since 1896. They are made in USA. And they’re actually made in. It South Pittsburg or southern Pittsburg. And Tennessee I can’t remember exactly the city. That they’re in, but they’re made in Tennessee. Igot to tell some research. Whenever you know put a lot of my hard-earned dollars into gear. Ido research on the company to see a track record well I’m going to tell.
Something if you’re going to get cast-iron stuff. This is a recommendation from. These guys are awesome so. You know I would definitely check them out. You haven’t already but the reason why I mentioned earlier about the griddle as being your. You only could get this is the. One to get because of the versatility. You have a smooth surface. You have the rib surface. Ialso put this on my stove. Iwas crossing my fingers. Igot home I was like. This spans two burners. Iwas hoping so much. It did so you know between rigging it up on in the campfire to the stove top. This thing seems like a really good way to go. Iam no way shape or form an expert. And there’s a lot of people. That know way more about cast-iron cooking than myself but. You know it’s never too late to learn.
Something so oh another tip. Idon’t know you guys know. Or not but like vinegar will get rid of. Some rust and of course using like a good bacon grease. Or animal fat something will season. It real good you can use. Anything from like a brillo pad to aluminum foil balled up to clean. And stuff like everything else no soap at. All but I’ll heat some oil you’re good to go so. More think just make sure. All the pans are always dry don’t leave. Any water on them they could very well rust but. You guys have any experiences. You know I’m still kind of new to. This stuff and please send. Any information you know response video. Whatever any ideas also let. This out here too I’m going to I’m getting all.
This stuff mainly to be able to use. It in the campfire but it’s taken over every time. Now it’s with cast iron as opposed to the old pants so. Imean it’s just all I’m working with from here on out but as far as the temperature. You know it on the stove. You turn the knob off. It gives more heat. You turn and use your less heat. You know in the middle. It gives your middle heat well. Idon’t know what the formula is for cooking on a campfire like. You know I was using a Dutch oven. How far would it have to be away from the flame. And the coals you know we’re. All the variations with. You guys could suggest maybe. Some good books not books with fluff in.
It to sell a book but. Some good books on I could learn. You know camp style cast-iron cooking. That was really hard to say but. You know I just wanted to share. This with you guys. Ireally look forward to using all. And hearing all your comments thank. You very much for watching Joe tactical out.
