Still covered alright now let's go into. The hood of this jacket so first off. With the hood off this is very. Comfortable around here and so let's put. The hood on it's a very large head this is compatible with helmets so you can see how large it is with none of the. Courts cinch down so it is quite large. But once you cinch it them down. It conforms to your head very well so. You can see how i could turn and the. Hood still stays on your head very well it's just like the patagonian jacket. It's got a cord around here and cord. Around here as well so you can pull this. Pull it back here and it's also got a. Very nice laminated hood so around the. Waist here you can see there's little waist poles so you just grab these. Around both sides and just pull out. And it tightens dramatically keeps all. The air from coming out keeps the heat in so i got this jacket to be my main. Shell for this winter like i said and underneath i do have my puffy jacket. Which you can see it and there's still plenty of room to actually put some more. Layers underneath this jacket it very. Excited to use this motor time especially you can pull these tie it cinches around the waist keeps the heat inside keeps me warm keeps me dry okay. I'm probably gonna even use this jacket. Snowboarding honestly i do you have. Another insulated jacket. But this one's definitely more waterproof nice the wintertime you just. Keep your snowboard goggles in here. Hoodie Well like many hikers out there what drew me to this particular product was the review that redbeard gave on it during his 2014 through hike and i got to say he was spot-on this has been my. Favorite piece of clothing I've had out there in the back country for many different reasons really because it's just so versatile from a weight standpoint i wore a large came in at eight point seven ounces the claimed weight on this is seven point seven ounces now i don't know if that's for a smaller and medium i probably guess maybe a small so it really depends on what your sizes the zipper that this has it's a quarter zipper so it will only go. Down to about your chest but what's really great about it is while i was wearing if i started to get warm but it was still cool out i would just zip it down all the way to the very bottom. Of the zipper and did a great job of really helping let some of that air flow. Through invented and really kind of. Helped cool me down a little bit without having to take this off this typically on a normal day when i was hiking i typically wore this probably for about the first mile it was simple and light to be able to put on simple and light to be able to get off and throw back in my pack but again a lot of times i wore. This to get started the day and then of. Course at camp so i wore this all the time at camp whether it was at night whether it was. In the morning but it was just a great piece of gear that i could just throw on any one time just to kind of raise my. Body temperature so what i normally would do is i would actually keep this on the very top of my pack so above. Where all my clothes and my food my diddy sack my tent all those things were below this because i would pull this out and put it on quite frequently throughout the day more so at night more. So in the morning but really loved the versatility at this piece of gear had now it does have a couple of elastic. Some holes that you can put your thumbs. Through to really hold this thing the sleeves in place so there are times when it does start to get really cold out there on the trail especially when you're starting to hit like the 30s and the low 40s and you are uncomfortable. And want to make sure that your sleeves stay in one place you can put those. Elastic some holes around your thumbs and then. It also helps with really kind of keeping a part of your palm warm as well so i like that in addition all right let's talk about the hood so i did not. Have a hood with my ultimate down jacket and I'm so glad that i didn't go with one but i brought it beanie with but i. Honestly i maybe wore the beanie maybe three times because if i had the beanie on it's because i already it was cold enough that i already had this out and on and with this having a hood it really defeated the purpose of me having to have a beanie and wear a beanie but i. Put this on all the time it was just great being able to have the versatility of doing that hood on and i didn't need. It just taking it off but it really did a great job would keep me warm and again. With that airflow that this is able to create i was able to really stay cool but still stay warm and those cooler. Temperatures normally when i did my hood on i would zip this up about half-way now this if you zip it all the way up to the top will go just above your mouth. That's a little bit about the hoodie now. The fabric is made of a polar tech power grid it's made of 92 percent recycled. Polyester and has a permanent odor control on it so never had any issues. With this thing really smelling bad at all know from a sizing standpoint this has more of that athletic fit so is a. Slim fit depending on what size that you. Are you might want to go up a size if you don't like that feeling of such a slim fit now when i did start to get warm and i did not want to pull off my entire thermal hoody i would normally just roll my sleeves up and the nice. Part is the fabric that it's made out of didn't really bother me when it was all bunched up sob of my elbows so really. Was comfortable and all of these features really play in why this is my. Lightweight now the sight or the weight is gonna vary depending on what size you get so keep that in mind with the vest a. Pockets great for storing some items or keeping your hands toasty warm we do have a full length center front zip with. A zipper garage at the top so it's gonna be really nice against the skin it's not going to snag your beard or anything like that so a very smart feature just that a nice little addition on the inside of the piece there is a zipper so. There is another pocket on the inside of. The jacket this pocket actually acts as a self stowing pocket so when you need. To pack the vest away or store it in some luggage you can reverse it on itself pack it into that pocket clip it to a harness if you need to or just throw it in your pack so adds a lot of convenience to the piece we do have. Elastic bands around the armhole so it keeps it nice and without being too restrictive and down. At the hem there is a draw cord so you can cinch that in if you need to it does have patagonia's classic brick. Quilting for the nano puff which is really going to help to stabilize that synthetic insulation and make sure you get the maximum warmth with the minimal. Amount of insulation so again with lightweight in mind the fit is a regular fit. So i am wearing a medium here and it is pretty trim on me i would normally wear a large and patagonia's pieces so it is. Gonna fit a little slimmer but still a very nice fit with the nano puff vest so. There you have it with that lightweight classic nano puff design but with a lot.
