Great thing about the ride lasso you start off with this internal liner cord which clips in right here to the liner. Which makes it really easy to get it. Nice and tight after that we tuck this. Piece in we have two boas this boa controls the outside cables this boa. Right here controls this inside cable down there so this cable for boa helps. To pull your heel back into the heel pocket of the boot keeping you locked in. All day oh you can feel it oh it’s like. Sucking my heels straight back into the. What’s up guys kevin here from. Snowboardprocamp today I’m here with chris hey and chris is gonna tell us the story of his burton photons. Pros/cons everything we need to know. Awesome how did it all begin so i had some old rides with the traditional lacing system a little bit big a little bit old to lose too sloppy. Just losing that response in the boots i. Tried on a variety of brands and lacing systems but it was when i tried on the photons instantly i knew these were the. Boots for me was it just the boa system. System got me to them i was really intrigued to try the boas and it was the. Heel cup my heel slid in there was like. Cinderella’s slipper and i just sat in. There and that was it that was the moment what are your first impressions of the photons first day riding obviously doing them up is really fast but that wasn’t the thing that got me it was just like precise tightening that you can do just click by click to. Really get it the exact kindness you want also the pull-string on the inside. To hold in the inner boot was really good and it felt like i was stuck in my heel in so like for free riding and stuff you just had much more response with your board and insane response compared to the old one so any lean at all instant transferring of that energy. From the boot to the board so i can feel. Even all their little like bumps and inconsistencies in the snow so it wasn’t just the boot to the board it was also the board to the boot so you also had. Some problem with like heel and toe drag before how do these compared to the year old boots they didn’t eliminate it. Entirely but they definitely got rid of a lot of it cool thing about the burton’s is that the footbed size is half size to all size smaller than what you normally would wear which is the same on the ions i think especially for anybody like me if you’re around about that 1112 range then it’s gonna. Hopefully help eliminate or at least reduce your tony hill drag how do those. Boots feel when you took them into the terrain park for do some freestyle and tricks was more connection with the snow so just having to be a little bit more careful on rails and stuff like that on. The it actually felt better because when you’re landing and when you’re taking off you must be more sure of the angle. That you’re going off and how the snow is under your feet the other cool thing too is that in the boots in the soul they have some kind of. Like fancy gel i can’t remember the name but I’ll put it at the bottom at least for myself i know i had a couple times that i overshot the landing and landed pretty hard yeah they felt good i didn’t have any pain like up my feet or my legs how. About in the back country like we did a lot of hiking last winter mm-hmm how are they for the powder and. Hikes yeah so hiking usually what i do come up to the hike undo my top zone for just making it easy to hike up remembering now it’s another reason that i was jealous too cuz chris gated loosen. Off is his bow is really quickly for those quick heights yeah it’s got the vibram sole which is really good so excellent grip on any kind of snow or. Ice as well as having like a few extra spikes cool the only thing that you’re. Limited by is obviously the technology is a bit more advanced and so it’s not really something that you can fix out on the hill so anytime you have a break in the boa system or if the laces snap you. Can’t do it yourself you got to take it back to the store but has a lifetime warranty so yeah the fix it for free. I’ll just do it straight away what kind of rider would you recommend those two almost anybody would like these boots. The convenience of the boa system is amazing if you guys have ever had any bad experience with laces i think most people have this just eliminates those. Hello I’m matt guff from house comm and this is a pair of 2019 burton photon boa. Snowboard boots they’re designed for almonte use for intermediate to advanced level rider so want something that’s a little bit more stiff but has the convenience of a boa coiler style system. It features a shrinkage footprint reduction technology this size 11 has a. 10 imprint on the snow and that’s perfect for anyone with big feet so you get less toe and heel drag as you see. Yeah there’s a double kind of cooler style system independent zones i tighten. Either the upper and lower zone but the. Photon what people have really come to love is the lock down kind of system the. Upper zone boa coiler actually wraps. Around the back side of the boot and. Draws the step of the firm flexing power. Up tongue into that heel pocket you get. A lot less heel lift with this kind of. Like wrap system with the new england ropes and you then you find a lot of other double boa style boots that’s what. Kind of people really like I’m not i like that there’s you can tighten of course upper section i generally like to be tight the lower section i generally like to be a little bit looser so my feet have better circulation there’s a nice support panos be skied throughout the photon boa but notice. That there’s kind of like a little notch where that lock down system kind of goes so the upper section of the. Photon boas can be a little bit softer than what you’ll find in a very similar boot called the imperial then basically. You’re in silence thing is i sleep in black a sleeping bag reflective foil that reflects heat back towards you and then there’s a focus cuff that stands a little bit top taller and wraps around this imprint three liners underneath your foot is a veer am eco step out so there’s. Kind of like a strategically placed rubber that’s 30% recycled with an est. Optimized mid sole that’s actually pretty thing that gives a boot a pretty good board feel but there is a pretty rugged tread so most people who tend to ride the photon they like all mountain riding they may be hiked around more, and they need this style of tread. Inside of the show of course is this imprint three liners extremely lightweight it has more durable style support panels internal j-bars velcro on. The tongue that keeps it centered and then a dry ride heat cycle that regulates this kind of or the type of heat takes inside of your boot and then of course your foot rests on this is a level two footbeds has a micro. Chrome bial coating of course so it doesn’t snow but there’s a little bit of a 3d molding to it yes the support shank. I had a moisture wicking style top but i really like the shape of burdens boots. You know the toe boxes seem to be a little bit more squared up for better whittling for your toes the more circulation you get the warmer your feet are gonna be and the photon though is one of those boots despite it being a little bit more stiff than your average boot that’s out there so if you want the convenience of both but you also want the heel hold you can find it in this. In your hands called a photon what is this thing and what does it do well. Really what it is its the imperial boot with a new dual boa system with new. England ropes so it’s an amazing boot it’s like a medium flex has imprinted. Three bladder in it as a vibram sole. It’s just a really good free riding boot. Um I’ve right I’ve been riding the imperial boot for last like 33 years and i just got a pair of these and i love them they’re they’re really comfortable it’s just really easy with the dual boa with the new england ropes yeah now one thing i know about. The photons up soul that vibram outsole it seems to be a lot more rugged and it’s kind of designed for anyone with the intentions to can go back inside country because of that rugged. Tread is that right yeah you’re right um this veer am sold it’s designed for hiking you know a lot of wear and tear and rocks stuff like that some other souls that might be lighter weight or whatever they get torn up and stuff like that this is a really durable soul it’s really easy for kicking in on. Ice and stuff like that so it’s a great soul if you’re hiking now with this. Double boiler system there’s a new piece of technology called the locked up new boa lock down may system what is that yeah that’s just this part right here it locks down your heel in the boot really well its dual boa so there’s one. Zone that’s your lower zone and one that’s your upper zone and the lock down is coordinated in went with that so. This is a 2019 a burton invader snowboard boot it’s designed for a low and freestyle use for beginner to intermediate level riders that didn’t start out just cruising around and then grow into the boot too it’s a softer flexing boot has a 3d molded tongue with gussets traditional laces along the. Front side that of course are easy to use and shall panels that give the boot a good amount of support but it still allows for a little bit of flex both to the nose and towards the tail it offers. A little bit of forgiveness so it’s not so difficult for beginners to learn how. To cruise around the outsole is called the dino life it’s actually a majority of eda style foam it’s super lightweight. You know surprises like right out of the box that’s a pretty remarkable lightweight boot there’s no like added rubber besides this little midsection there look the upper section does flex. Fairly well to the toe side edge despite it not have articulation or flex. Malchus and then of course inside is this heat moldable liner this is an imprint and one has external style j. Boots designed for beginner to advanced level riders i want something that’s true to size but very snug in the heel. To reduce heel lift this is a really. Great boot it has a medium to i’ts a. Stiff style flex appeal overall it does. Feature a lot of great key technologies that make it a wonderful boot again one. Of them being the design of that heel pocket area that just allows for the. Heels of favor it should be touching your foot bed the exterior style shell. Has a lot of support panels as you see it’s very bomb-proof there’s no articulation in it and that’s one reason that it’s like pretty stiff over the top of that toe side edge and has a nice tall support panel along that back side and then a plush top within the liner that makes it a little bit softer I’m going to lean it back on that heel side edge you don’t get a lot of he’ll bite. From that boot on the footbed or excuse. Me the alto was actually called the d lite it’s a kind of eba style. Lightweight foam this boot is extremely. Lightweight the faction boa actually comes in two different lacing options. Like a speed lace and then this is. The bullet coiler, and they both coiler is nice because you don’t really have to rewind it or to tighten it back up or. You don’t have a lot of excess like give. Within the cables then in the tongue the. Tongue is a firm flexing tongue it’s articulated has nice of a flex notches has gussets. But it’s a little bit narrower and that reduces the overall can amount of material inside of that shell so you get. Less pitching in a less awkward weird spots saman you know for the people who. Know salomon boots they know how good. They are for those of you know as for. Though you guys watching you don’t like they’re actually exceptionally oh well. You know they do a lot of unique things they can have this nice sort of side wrap that kind of like pulls from the bottom of the boot and set it from the top of the boot just for a nice overall style fit the liner is. Mouldable this is the goal diamond run the top table line once again that heal. Is nice and snug special iran that keeley’s the internal j-bars are absolutely massive, and they’re nice and. Plush along the top and notice how thick that tongue is but one thing about the tongue though it’s its kind of firm on that outer section so it’s not gonna really pack out too much up if it as well. Features a locking integrated lacing system which is pretty cool has a little lever not very many companies i actually. Don’t think I’m gonna be doing that and surprisingly enough even this little stitch right here helps the liner to get the into a part a little bit more support so you’re not just kind of falling out of your mid step and. Then lastly is that porthole see one foot bed this is a dual density footbed it’s flat doesn’t have any support panels for that arch or a heel cradle. But it is very soft with that dual density it’s gonna make the ride just a little bit damper but this is a great. Boot it’s called a faction boa from salomon lots of great pieces but the. Think that i enjoy the most about it is the shape of that heel this is a very narrow heel that keeps a heel locked in the heel pocket so if you have problems with heel lift really check out salomon. Salomon videos but I’ll say it again salomon has pretty much the best out of the box fit in the industry you really can just rock them right out of the box and take them slopes, and they’re super comfortable what we’re looking at here is the faction stiffness scale this. One I’m probably rocking it my own personal rating about like maybe oh three or four somewhere in that range. Definitely gonna be good for i would say the omg level to intermediate rider it’s. Gonna work for freestyle free ride powder it’s very versatile boot for sure. What we’re looking at this one on the outer part we got leather and corduroy. Construction definitely gonna be nice and waterproof very durable rolls into the contra grip sole super good at. Getting you traction on icy hard packed. Rain definitely pretty lightweight sole. To moving into this part we got a 3d. Molded tongue definitely nice not gonna deform when you get the pressure of the speed lace going on it does have liked it. Said speed late system which is extremely easy to use all you do to get. Into the boots is pull up and cam lock. It in to get out pull it down and pull. The tongue out you’re ready to go super easy on that and then also on the. Liners basically almost an identical system for the liner as well nice thing about salomon is they’ll actually attach the slide hardware to the tongue itself. So it’s always where you needed to be just like it said super quick in-and-out time with this one salomon will always. Have a really deep heel pocket which you can’t see in this all flat boot trust me it’s their really good at. Holding your ankle keeps your heel from lifting and gives you the precise control that you need out there in the slopes got velcro on the back here. That’s going to correspond to a velcro tab in the back of the outer the boot obviously keeps the liner from moving up and down I’ve just an increase. In the heel hold that i already mentioned and then finally we’ve got. Just a basic shim insole most of their support will be done in their liners that’s where they put a lot of their time and effort this is just gonna aid in shock absorption definitely taking up.
