Hey it's darwin i wanted to do a little. Product review of a new hiking shoe that. I've been trying out lately as some of. You might know I'm a huge meryl moab fan. I've been hiking in for years i went. Through three pairs on the appalachian trail this year and got a lot of people. To convert over to them but i figured I'd try a little something different since I've been in those for so long and i chose to try out the salomon x altra. This is Solomon's actual hiking shoe. They're really known for their trail runners but this guy is geared solely. For hiking so they kind of beat it up a. Little bit looks very similar to their trail runner especially with the quick lace in here i really like this system. All the years that i didn't triathlon i was used to the quick laces so it's really cool to see a hiking shoe with the same thing so let's get into the. Shoe first of all this shoe comes in at. 32 ounces on my scale now i wear an. Eleven and a half so that is 32 ounces. Four and eleven and a half which comes in right at two pounds. Some really great key features of. This shoe is the porthole sock liner. That they went with on the inside of here really comfortable there's. No stitching on the inside so your foots not rubbing up against anything which is. Really great if you're doing any type of long-distance i can definitely something you want definitely helps with blisters and the advanced chassis sense of fit. Upper that they went with it really hugs your foot really fits nice like a glove. My foot doesn't seem to move around a lot in it which is obviously definitely good against blisters or anything like that now they went with instead of going. With a be room sole like a lot of hiking shoes now they went with what they called the contra grip system um get some okay lugs on here not as hardcore. As a lot of hiking shoes but lately. Hiking in it i found that i really liked. The traction really liked the grip of this sole so maybe it's something new. Maybe it's something just as good as be broom i definitely have to put a lot more research and a lot more hiking on to it to really see how i end up liking that as far as wet conditions. Snow ice stuff like that but so far I've. Been pretty happy with it salomon also decided to put this little rock bumper up here on the nose of it so. Definitely helps against some heavier rocks going downhill or kind of smacking your toe on anything i really like that little feature as well so yeah all. Around it is a really great shoe I've done a few hikes with it haven't. Done any extended long-distance hiking with it I'm still kind of on the fence if whenever i returned to the appalachian trail in 2016 if I'm going. To go with my Mario odds or if I'm going to go something different so time will tell on that but as of right now I'm really enjoying this sheet really enjoying some of the smaller day hikes and stuff I'm going on with it so check it out if you get a chance that is the salomon ultra x they also make this in a. Waterproof version and they make it in a. Gore-tex version this is the non waterproof and non gore-tex I'm not a big fan since the kind of. Conditions that i hike in especially on the appalachian trail the inside of those shoes get wet they don't dry out this being a nice vintage shoe it'll get. We do in fact as low as i mentioned. Before has been around for 35 years we've made premium brand products for. All that time one product that i have here is actually called the parramatta to 200 gv it is a you know. Traditional-looking leather product this one here has a real classic look to it what we've used is a vibram outsole bottom we have some arch supports in. Might happen while you're out there in the field and then what we really is a unique feature it's a patented feature is this pulley system which really gives. You a nice enveloped foot wrap over the. Over the foot and isolates key areas. Again another key feature to these boots is that we use what's called a nozzle flex board it's been around again for probably 25 years in our line and it's a. Preformed polypropylene board but what. It does is it disallows anything from poking up underneath gives you the proper flex and support that you need during the excursion and it's just a key. Component that helps our boots maintain their shape and form over the course of many years just a wonderful fitting boot. You.

Seiyya just wanted to do a review for. Some boots to be solo boots. Ironically one of my body's good friend. Contacted me last night justified any boot suggestions so I'll quick background I've had danner's had quite a. Few different kinds of really good food, and they never lasted very long I'm. Kind of rough on stuff so what i want to do is to show you a set of eight solos that I've had for six years they're still running really strong I'm going to. Sit down and just kind of take the boot off and show it to you real quick and tell you why i like them and then just. Show you the leather conditioner that i use and the only reason I'm doing this. Is because i found boots that worked. For me and kind of the conditions that i deal with and i just want to kind of. Share them so yeah I'll turn the camera. Around and just show you what I'm talking about alright guys so here the boots they're. Made by a solo i always forget which model these are. Hopefully i can find out. I believe the newer addition of these. Are the rv and my friend literally bottom last night so I've had these boots for six years the reason i bought. Dj solos and i was willing to pay 240 bucks for him is because i had gotten a. Pair of a solo fugitive which are the nylon more breathable version from rei. For forty dollars from a scratching them sale, and they lasted three years which were longer than any boots I've had so when i started looking for another set i wanted to get all leather because the thing i saw was those fugitives even though they were really good was that the seams were the downfall the seams were where they would end up leaking or splitting so these are a solos made with. Essentially one piece leather a solo. From what i can tell are designed in italy and made in the czech republic i wish these were made stateside but you. Now the czechs are good they're. Good at manufacturing so when my friend. Called or my friend contacted me. I and him use our stuff and we buy. Similar stuff where we buy high-end stuff, but we use it hard so i had no. Problem recommending these boots and i. Just want to go over a couple reasons why i think they lasted so long and why i like them so one first thing that. These have been they have pulley lace the. Lace holders are pulleys right here so. Not only does it kind of protect your laces they have little rollers i don't. Now if you can see them pretty high-end little brass rollers i thought they were. A little bit of a gimmick when i first got them but what they end up doing is they make the shoe really easy to lace up and on lace they also allow the laces. To move when you're walking which. Maintains an even tightness throughout. The boot okay the other thing is these. Are the original laces typically i go through probably a sutter to laces a year and because they're they're. Allowed to move they don't rip is easily okay my friend. Was asking you know how often do you use the boots and i would say in 2016 on. These i put minimum 200 miles. Walking and I've had these for six years i was thinking what's the minimum amount. Of miles i put on and i put on minimum 600 miles i would say closer to 800. Miles on use the only thing that I've. Had to do as far as the repair is i this little tip of the shove the boot on one. Of these was coming off and i owed it back on and now it's probably two years ago so now i just want to get into just. Want to give you a quick. Description of how i maintain these so. One thing i do after like long hikes or. Any time they've gotten real dirty is i take the insole out and i get all that. Sand and all that stuff out of this insole sometimes I'll wash it and then. The same thing where i shake the boot out really good and I'd say about twice. A year I'll actually wash the inside of. This boot out that gets rid of all the silica and sand that can puncture this gore-tex liner and that's that's a lot of times what happens is you get a puncture in this liner and then the boot leaves but the. Think i love about the all leather boots is since the outside is so robust it. Really protects the inside gore-tex. Layer again as long as you get all that sand and stuff off so that's my first advice feel good boots clean these. Insoles often clean the inside the. Boot get all that get it silicon and stand out that's going to wear through your gore-tex liner okay the next thing. Is a shoe treatment i recently. Switched to this stuff i was looking for. My beeswax i forgot it's called it. Started with sno but anyways it was. Abused black solution and you can't get it anymore in a excuse me this isn't the. Stuff I'm talking off but this is a new. Replacement so when i was looking for my old shoe treatment i went to a cobbler. And he said i like this stuff a lot. Better and guess what it's made in the united states in green bay Wisconsin. It's important you know i live in. Wisconsin and uh you know it's important. To keep stuff made here so what i can say is I've been using this for a coastal year and what you end up doing is when you see that this leather starts to absorb a little bit of water i take. It and i run them under hot water maybe get a little soapy brush and i just get all the dirt and sand i take the laces out and i just really wash it down then i I'll take and I'll put up a good. Layer of this um you know I'll put some of this on a towel and rub it around now what i do is i take either like a heat gun or a blow-dryer and you want to just. Heat it up enough so this stuff soaks into the leather and you don't want to put too much or this soaks into the leather and then into the gore-tex liner. And you'd have to put a lot of this stuff but that's just a little warning so in closing again I'm not doing any. Like walking through the wood scenes or anything but i have run these through. The wringer i use them for deer hunting i use them in winter i use them in the summer the one. Downside of the all leather exterior is that they are going to hold a little bit more moisture inside but for me. In Wisconsin I'd rather keep a little bit of moisture inside and keep all the. Wet dirty muck and stuff outside so I've. Literally had my rain pants cinched around these boots and stepped into water up to here and my feet were dry so. All i can say is if you're looking for a. Set of high end boots i spent about three hundred forty dollars on these and i would not hesitate to do it again and. Again these are six year old boots oftentimes I'll be it like a job site or a work site and people go man like those are nice boots you just get them they go no they're six years old and you know other guys that are kind of in the industry that have similar experiences where the boots just fall apart you know they ask how much they are and i tell them, and they're like you know it seems like it really it seems 100% worth it so. In my opinion these are the best boots. I've ever had a solos and once these. Wear out I'm going to end up getting another pair and picard's picard's. Leather dressing this is some of the. Best stuff alright guys have a nice day. I'm just sitting in the woods you got to. Go to school and class and then working a little bit thumbs out. She's got the titanium canteen and the. Lots of miles anywhere from 10 to 50 mile tracks during the week and lots a. Lot the weight has been carried by this boot I've packed many miles in this boot and that's what i wanted to review it by. Up it also has a gore-tex liner inside. It if you want complete waterproof make. Sure that your hiking shoes and boots are gore-tex this boot is gore-tex the. Sole is a vibrant soles probably the best sole made on the market it has a three-quarter shank you can see climbing. Rocks your buck treeline it's real stiff. But one thing i like about it is that right out of the box i put it on didn't. Do a lot of break in and i didn't have too much break in time and. Not a lot of blisters a lot of heavy heavy-duty hiking boots alpine. Boots things those things of those nature will give you blisters so this is. This boot is ideal for backpacking its carrying loads probably above 2025. Pounds of you carrying a load heavier than that going to extend day trips this is. The kind of boot you want i really like this boots oslo powermatic and let's see. What else that's got a cool lacing system and this boot runs about $275 so. They're not cheap but you got to protect your feet when you're hiking if your feet go out on you when you're backpacking then the rest of you goes with you too so I'm gonna give this. Resistance haven't taken it to the cracks yet the shoes can be squished it. The shoe is true to size x y some. Reviewers recommend going one-to-one see five sizes larger on this shoe the. Microfiber lining is slippery when wearing polyester based socks not good. For the ankles when jumping up rock hillsides see and cotton socks are too thick for this shoe which is a bummer because cotton socks provide me with better grip and keep my feet drier the. Right shoe felt much smaller than then left i also did not like the split. Tongue field but wearing socks makes it bearable brbrbr fit one v br — br pr. Os br none br co ns br out-of-the-box. They were horribly tight the only way i could fit my feet was by taking off the. Insole and stretching the guts out of the fabric the length is true to size x. Is not a shoe for those of us with really wide feet my foot spread is wider. Then the shoe itself my feet suffered quite a busy and just when i thought it was paying off the paper like mid sole started peeling away i thought removing the bottom part of the insole would help but my feet were exhausted and achy after weeks of trying to stretch the shoe and i was forced to find the most minimalist insole i could find after trial and error see i went. For the super feet carbon insole which took virtually no space inside the show yet provided outstanding protection this. Will cost these shoes between one and two stars i shouldn't have to go buy insoles. That are more expensive than the shoe itself br fi nal verdict brits a good. Pair of shoes minimalist ish and seems. Durable but in my case eket was definitely not comfortable and i had to go through more time and money in order to make my monster feet feel like home in them i like the lucy and the fact. That i can feel the terrain with more grip than other shoes i own except my 510 war hawks.

Alright guys i do a lot of gun reviews. And i thought that it would be interesting to switch it up a little and. Do a gear review for you and show you some of the stuff that i use on a daily. Or uh you know regular basis these. Are the shoe the boots that i wear everyday really just about they are a. Hiking boot kind of an old style. Hiking boot they are made by deana out. Of portland Oregon i believe and these. Are the mountain like to boot. I've been wearing these for about a year so i figured it would be that would be a. Good sample size to kind of give you a review of how their heathered lasting. How their wearing how they're holding up so I'll give you a little description of. The boot first like i said it's an older style it doesn't have cloth or fabric. Material that is no that's a it's a full leather upper these it's a full so down. Construction so the upper is sewed down. Completely to the soul another. Interesting thing about the boot is that. It is made out of one piece of leather you don't see seams here. The only seam if there is in the back. Where they meet but other than that form. Here all the way around the toe all the way to the back is one piece of leather. And that really helps with the. Durability of the boot and also the. Water resistance of the boot they have. An interesting construction in that I'll. Get the laces out here a little so you. Can see it in that the tongue is a part. Of the upper it's not sewn in. As you can see the tongue is just a. Continuation here of the upper and it. Folds over your the arch of your foot. And it creates a nice bit of padding. Here a good amount of protection for the. Top of your foot because you have really three layers of weather over the top of it this is a five-inch height boot it. Has a vibram outsole has the clutter. Lift so I've been wearing these for like. I said a year and you can see there's a. Little bit of wear to them but not super. Significant i anticipate probably in. Another year and a half I'll have to get them resoled these boots can't be recraft 'add as they're made in america most of. Their american-made boots can be retracted it has the old-fashioned. Eyelets and the top two are the speed laces there is no padding in the top like in a. Lot of boots and this also helps the. Durability of the boot because padding will eventually break down this is a. Gore-tex boot so it is water-resistant i have had no problems whatsoever with. Water leaking in they come with this. Plastic instep. For the for your insteps they seem to be. Very comfortable and the bottom you'll. See also is not padded at all it's just. Kind of fabric over the gore-tex over. The top of the sole and you would think this would be very uncomfortable when in fact it molds to the bottom of your feet. So over time after you wear this boot in. It will mold to how your foot. Itself fits it does take a fair amount. Of break-in time for these boots it took me probably three weeks for them to become comfortable and within two months. It was like wearing blood but once you. Get past those first two three four weeks you're golden but before then you. Only want to wear them a couple of hours at a time probably because they're pretty stiff and pretty unforgiving so. Give them some time they won't be super. Comfortable right out of the box but like any good boot i think that the. Longer it takes to break something in. Probably the longer it's going to last overall the tongue has some leather. Padding inside but other than that it's just a leather tongue they've tried to keep the construction all leather to increase the wearin durability of the. Boot and i have read of people having. These resold two three four times and wearing them for ten or twelve years. Along with that you need too really. Condition the leather i use open offs. Heavy duty lp on these every couple of. Months clean them off if i get them. They're little dirty right now they're kind of scuffed on the toe, but they polish up pretty nice i fully anticipate. Getting a lot of use out of these. Probably six eight ten years they are a. Little spendy these go for three hundred. And ten dollars retail. You don't really see a lot of discounts on this boot they're pretty pricey but again with a. Lot of things in life you get what you pay for i would highly recommend this. Boot once you get it broken in it is. Very comfortable very traditional looking i wear these everywhere just. About every day they go in the woods they go in asphalt they go on all kinds. Of terrain and they've really held up. Well so i would give them a two thumbs up for the danner mountain like two and i think I'll probably do some more gear. Reviews in the days and weeks to come. Thanks a lot.

Super durable heavy-duty boots designed for extended backpacking and trekking. The aza lo men's tps 520 gv evo are a. Fully waterproof boot that will help you. Feel secure on the trail let's take a look at their features taking a look at. The (upper) of this boot we've got one piece of full grain leather all the way. Throughout the boot so it gives it a really sleek look and also creates a very durable and very rugged boot that. Is a fairly thick leather at around 2.8. Millimeters and it is water resistant so it'll shed light rain there is a gore-tex waterproof breathable membrane underneath this leather so you do have. Waterproof protection throughout the boot so even in that gusseted tongue and. All the way up to about that second to the last eyelet you've got waterproof protection in the boot so really nice. Features with those materials there we've also got these riveted eyelets so. Those gonna provide more durability there they're not those standard fabric. Eyelets you see on some of the lighter weight boots, but they're really durable riveted eyelets there that are gonna really enhance that durability overall a. Neat fact about azula's materials they. Source 99% of their materials in europe. And the shoes are built in aza low owned european factories so a neat fun fact. About the boots they're moving down to. The mid sole of this boot we've got a dual density pu mid sole so it's a little. You guys since i finished the georgia portion of. The appalachian trail it's been raining almost non-stop it's finally. Right now just drizzly so i just came. Out to walk around the neighborhood and i found this really cool old fireplace. That i don't know. Must have belonged to some kind of home. And look at that's like the biggest. Rhododendron i have ever seen at least. I'm pretty sure it's a rhododendron and right now of course it's starting to. Rain hopefully i won't get soaked but i have. Been going stir-crazy so i wanted to. Tell you about the new shoes that i got. From rei gosh i think i got them maybe. Like a month ago over six weeks ago i. Can't even remember now oh hey. I found what appears to be a bit of. Betrayal If my suspicions are correct if this. Should be going the link might be for. Launching back to the shoe story i. Picked up a pair of oboes and. I have been toying with the idea of trying ovo's ever since i came down with. The plantar fasciitis in my right heel. And let me tell you seven months later. My heel is one well. Not 100% but i want to say like 90%. Pain-free finally and the minute that i. Put the oboz on and walked in them like. Five steps. I knew that my foot was gonna feel. Better because the arch in it is just. Like the arch and my choco sandals and. Those were the only other shoes that. Allowed my foot to feel okay. We are These shoes have been a lifesaver and. Okay this is a review of the women's. Oboes low top hiking shoe i did buy. These at a local store i did not buy them from amazon but i wanted to add this review i have a wide foot and a. High arch and these shoes work very well. They have a nice wide toe box and they. Have a narrow, but they have a narrow heel they have a good arch support on the inside and i like the fact that it. Has a very aggressive tread so it works. Very well been a lot of hikes with these i have not had any trouble hiking on a. Lot of loose scree and these catch very. Well i don't slip and slide it will fall. Walked on wet rocks and other surfaces. That were not very stationary and they. Work very well i can walk them in all day and even though they have a tough aggressive tread they do have enough cushion on the inside that they are comfortable enough to wear all day and. They don't hurt my feet a lot of shoes. When they put a pretty tough tread on the bottom end up being too hard on your. Feet but these have just the right amount of arch support and cushion and a. Nice rugged sole.
