Why as a street cop in steubenville ohio. Or pocket LOL oh ho. Or Tallahassee should. Ibe interested in the first light liberator mainly it's the ease of use. And the rewards that I'm going to gain with a minimal amount of training that's not enough why am. Igoing to want to spend money on the first light lets going to save my life why it's going to increase my shooting ability it's going to increase my hands on ability. And it's going to light up things. Inever would a little bit up before alright let's expand upon. That why is it different. And why is it unique oh the form factor is the difference with a tube light you'll have in your hands a lot of times. And other times you're going to put. This can stay with you the whole time. And you'll forget about. It's just going to be. Another part of the body form light meaning what exactly the construction. And the form itself. We have with this particular light an ability to put. It on the hand and leave.

It on the hand with no interference. Where a tube light you've got to make a conscious effort to do. Something with it every time. You want to put hands on. Somebody or go into a flashlight ated shooting technique so the idea there is. It on your hand and leave. You don't have to worry can. It on my end in virtually. Any sort of scenario absolutely the only two restrictions again are going into a pocket. You need to hold onto. Something tight like a fast rope large-diameter not. You can't hold on to things. You can climb ladders jumping over fences putting hands on people. Imean that's another perfect reason to have the Liberator there's just very. Few limitations it looks funny. It looks funny and for some cups taking a look at. This for the first time they're going to say well. How much can I manipulate. That comes the question as. We actually start to put. This light on and the very first time.

It on your thinking point that's just a little uncomfortable but after about 10 minutes. It disappears and there's actually a couple of different tactics. Or techniques we use a utility position. That comes out of the holster. You can use it just like. Any other flashlight with just a little thumb pressure. We do have those bottom three fingers loose there. Ican look under the tables. And do my searching with. Ithought something was coming I'd go from the utility right away to the tactical position. It on the back of your hand. And give it a little twist here to put. Wherever you want and then. This thumb pressure on the top of the hand. And from a standpoint of putting things in your hand oh that's the idea of. You put a pistol in your hand into a two-handed grip. Whether it's a magazine. You want to do a reload. We can drop them out to attack full reload. And stick them back in just your slacking and racking all those other little things.

You do after 15 minutes andI'm using. That term generically here but it's a very short period of time. You forget even have. It on there you want to go into. That pocket we do the hands-on techniques we're talking high goosenecks rear risks likes. All your hand cutting techniques speed cuffing pressure points. It actually adds a little bit of a tool. Ijust use a cubit on. All the time this actually helps with pressure points. Because it's there but. You shouldn't forget. And there's really no issue with the comfort. And with the ability to keep a grasp on folks. You had indicated earlier. We were chatting or was a Jeremy. That the use of the first light in your research. And opinion will carve off two to three second yes in the overall evolution of a critical incident response correct.

That be hands on whether a guy is going to attack. Me for physically with his hands. That be with any type of weapon. Ihave to go to the pissed. We always talk about deadly force. And using a firearm but the same thing goes with an ass for any other tool. Imay have available to. We look at firearms. Because that's a critical incident so. We talk about just the grip. And being able to keep the grip as we're shooting you know. You just don't lose the grip. More like in the past. Where the hands would split. And then the idea I don't have to do. Anything with the light. Or try to do that magazine change with. Something in my hand. Ican do my smacking my rackin. Ican lock the slides back. Ican manipulate these put them. Iwant to and not have to worry about a control factor. You do with tube-like. And that's what we see.

Most in our scenario training is. That tube lights tend to fall around. And fall to the floor. When you're doing any type of weapons manipulation. That be with the pistol. Or with the carbine with the long gun tell. Me about situations you've experienced in the past as a younger top. You look back and say jeez. Iwish I'd had the first life Liberator well it's just about every time. Iused a tube light that was the case every time. Igo into a building search every time. Iput hands on somebody every time. Ido a DUI stop and have to demonstrate. Something I'd have to put a light under my arm in my mouth which is kind of hard in the wintertime there gets stuck every. Once in a while so. We want to we want to get. It off the body into a place. Whereas long as I can release. It I'm good to go almost every situation. It is opening a door climbing jumping over getting in the car getting something out of the trunk charging and clearing your weapon.

You know just from a standpoint I'm getting ready to do a building search. Iwant to come up and do a fresh check. Iwant to drop a magazine to see. Many rounds it can be done without putting the light someplace else so actually. This little device we're looking at is revolutionary no thanks very much looking for yes. It is yeah it's again in the form factor itself. And the issues of being able to have. It on your person and forget about. It instead of making a conscious effort every time. Iget out of the car. Igot to take a light. Iused to have SAT pockets in my pants, so I'd have a place to stow them. That was pretty easy. Icould get it out of but again certain situations. It wouldn't work building searches. And then especially. It comes time to put hands on. Somebody you still need a light it's critical. You have or able to release. And not lose where the first light a could have saved officers from serious bodily injury.

And B could have saved officers lives oh absolutely. And a lot of the tapes. We see on your program from a standpoint of car cams. Where guys have flashlights in their hand tube lights. It stops them from doing things. They should and then causes them to do things. They shouldn't you hear him talk about the darkness. And daylight I would have had. That light I had released. It in the interviews after the fact the form lighter the tube light has been a formed problem for a lot of years, but we've just lived with. Because that's all of a sudden. We have a shin and every technique. Or tactic that that officer has to do is improved by having this form instead of the tube.

Everyone is — cat badger calm here to bring you into the gear review. And today we're talking about flashlights. This little guy right here which is the stream light protac 1 l1 double-a I'm constantly looking for ways to improve. Whether it's a technique for something or maybe a better tool that's gonna serve. Me in a better capacity to. And everyday carry life for a. Icarried the stream light protac. One Triple A honestly. It did a great job in 99% of the situations. You need that everyday carry light for enough lumens to do. All those little tasks. Whether it's looking under the seat in the car for one of my kids gloves. Or maybe in the back of the garage. Where the lights not quite shining and. You need to look for something it's their really handy really small compact package really nice and. It worked but it lack is. That 1% albeit crucial 1% of everyday carry light ie. Ineed a light that is gonna throw beam far enough. And be bright enough in the event of concealed carry. Where actually have to identify a threat.

And address that threat to. That end I find the stream light protac 1 l1 double-a to be much better in. That capacity throws a much better beam much brighter. And to the name 1 l1 double-a it's a dual fuel flashlight. That means is either put my rechargeable doublea's which is really handy especially. When my kids decide. They want to borrow. This light I don't know play around in the closet. Something or I can also throw a cr123 battery in there. What that's going to do for me is give. Me two Max bright settings. One with the double-a being about 150 lumens gonna throw a beam a little over a hundred meters. Or with the cr123 having. That extra power in there it's going to give. Me 350 lumens and throw a beam about 350 yards. Both of those are great honestly. Iusually the double-a just. That 150 lumens to do fine for me.

And on top of that it's a lot easier for me to go ahead. And just charge up these batteries continue to swap them out. Than burn through fairly expensive cr123 s. Iget a lot of the stream lights. This has their tint app technology basically. You have this tail cap. You can tap it ten times. And cycle through different modes but way example. This has a strobe setting I don't really have. Any use for a strobe setting aside from like an impromptu rave but don't really use. That it's consequently. Idon't have that setting turn on. You can also have where there's the high low being 40 lumens personally. Ithink 40 lumens is a little bit high don't really need. That much light for most of those kind of 99% of your everyday tasks but it's there. And burn time for that usually get between 7 & 14 hours depending on what kind of battery speaking of burn time. You have it on the max setting you're gonna get anywhere from usually the hour.

And a half at the cr123. And depending on the type of double-a battery anywhere from like an hour. And a half to four hours with like a lithium ultimately. Though a lot of features built in. This package and with. That tin tap technology. Ibasically have it on the setting where. Idepress this it's on full that's. It there's no in-between there's no swapping through settings. Because as every day carry light. Idon't find it convenient to have to try. And cycle through settings. Ineed a lot of light granted it's. That 1% time going back to concealed carry but. Idon't want to mess with. It so consequently I just keep. It on the highest setting all the time as. Imentioned the switch on. This tail cap you depress. It lightly halfway or so it's gonna turn on press. All the way it'll click at which point they'll stay on otherwise.

You can press and get momentary on. And off the way this is pretty much regardless of the pants I'm wearing I'll have. This clipped in over on my left side my off hand side. And its small enough unobtrusive doesn't get in the way but it's always there. It speak to that 1% of the time. You need that everyday carry light then conceal carry depending on the weather. You might not be able to conceal a weapon mounted light at which point. This is going to be invaluable. Both in identifying the threat. And assisting you in dealing with. That potential threat to. That end you are relatively limited with the surefire lights in the number of other lights. They have basically a ring around here which in effect allows. You to hold your weapon here. And pretty easily depress. While maintaining a pretty natural grip. This doesn't have that in albeit. You can kind of make. What I find usually does a better job. He is just indexing it here being able to point out threats.

Or basically kind of modified here. Where maila create some tension use my weapon light move. It with my pistol as. Ineed too ultimately. It does a pretty good job at night throwing to being far enough illuminating enough to identify those threats. And break those shots. This is 150 lumens with the single double-a at 10 yards. This is 350 lumens with the cr123 at 10 yards the target here is illuminated at 25 yards with a single double-a battery at 150 lumens the targets at 25 yards illuminated with 350 lumens from a single cr123 battery. And here's the target straight out in front 50 yards illuminated with 150 lumens from a single double a honestly.

This is further I would shoot especially with having a flashlight in my support hand. This is the target illuminated at 50 yards with a single cr123 battery at 350 lumens again further. Iwould comfortably shoot. Another thing I really like about. This flashlight with respect to the design is the clip. It allows me to obviously pretty much every day. And keep this clipped in my pocket but. If I'm out and I'm somewhere. Both hands than biting down on. This thing having it in my mouth about time. You wear a hat I can use the same clip. It onto the bill in my hat which point turn. This guy on I basically have an impromptu headlamp. And headlamps gonna win out. Any day of the week. You actually have a task. That requires both hands. It comes to everyday carry light. This stream light protac 1 l1 double-a has a lot of good stuff going for it especially with. That duel fuel think about traveling abroad overseas who knows. What kind of batteries are available pretty handy being able to throw.

Either a double-a or cr123 in there. If you're looking for everyday carry light. You pick one up let. It does for your best place. Ifound price-wise amazon can find them for about 38 bucks but as always thanks for joining us at Kipp adhikam look forward to seeing you next time
