They have a couple of different densities of rubber here in the outsole. You’ve got a harder density where you need it. You have a lot of flexibility where you need it and they’re using trainee sticky rubber so just excellent traction on all different types of terrain.
Now moving into the midsole. You’ve got a couple of different materials in there to reduce on fatigue and to protect your feet. So you have power flow foam here running through the shoe. It’s nice and lightweight but offers a lot of durability over time but also cushioning for your feet. Then you have a medic that runs through the inside of that midsole with the meta shank. It’s underneath of your metatarsals and it actually mirrors the anatomy of the human foot so rather than making the shoe feel boxy.
That shank actually has the right shape to give you all the protection you need from stone bruising. I kind of have a rock plate in there with that shank, but they keep the weight down and it is flexible enough that you still have a really responsive shoe. You’ve got an eight-millimeter drop from the heel to the forefoot. It’s about twenty-two and a half millimeters here in the heel fourteen and a half in the forefoot. So you do still have a pretty minimal design there but again plenty of cushioning moving up to the upper part of the shoe.
Plenty of different materials here and lots of design that goes into every part of that upper. You have all kinds of mesh to keep you comfortable on the trail. There is a rubber toe cap in the front to cut down on stone bruising on your toes and just to protect you there. But the thing I really like about the upper is the adapter web technology. So basically they’ve got overlays here that when you cinch down the laces it really cradles the top of your foot and it really locks in your heel. To the heel of the shoe, you do have this kind of x design right here. This is a pretty dense material so when you lace up that top eyelet. It’s gonna lock in your heel and it’s gonna really cradle your foot so in addition to how much traction you have on the bottom. You’ve got all of that responsiveness from a well-fitting shoe, but they also give you plenty of room in the toe box.
It’s kind of the perfect blend of having a well-fitting shoe and having enough room in the front for your toes. There is a removable sock liner so if you have your own insoles that you want to put in there you can do so you can take this out it’s nice and well-cushioned and actually wicks away sweat. Hi everybody today what I’d like to do. Is a more in-depth review on the shoes. That i used during my obstacle course slash mud runs that i did this year and. The shoes that i used were called the. Wood named rock light 315 s they’re by a company called innovate that’s i nov. Then a dash and then ate these shoes. Were i originally heard about the. Company and a little blurb and outside magazine earlier this year, and they were. Recommending obstacle course running equipment and so i went to the innovate website and i was blown away by the. Number of varieties that they had when. It comes to their shoes the names are pretty descriptive the name essentially 315 means that the shoe weighs 315 grams and the rock light is. The style of tread that you have on the. Bottom of this shoe but you can get them. Customized you can you know decide the. Weight that you want they have shoes that are as light as 200 grams or even. Lighter and then they have shoes that are significantly heavier depending on. How much protection you’re looking for this one is a little bit heavier the one. Originally i was looking at was 295 grams but 295 315 for me the weight. Really doesn’t matter all that much but what i liked about the 315 s is it’s got. A little bit more it’s got more protection here along the sides and. Along the front of the shoe which i like because of the nature of the obstacle race it did a nice job protecting my. Foot it’s got a mesh upper here which was it was enough mesh that it would. Dump water i didn’t have any water in my shoes or you know didn’t stay in the shoes during the race but it also did not allow me to get any mud in there the lacing system kept the shoes on tight enough that i didn’t have to worry about getting my shoes sucked off on my feet so that worked out real well but as i. Said you can basically pick pretty much anything you want on the shoes you can pick the type of soul you can pick the. Okay guys welcome back and today i wanted to do a short review it’s a pair. Of shorts i recently purchased it is. From the north face they’re a 7-inch inseam short it is called and the name. Is long for shorts but it’s called the north face better than naked long haul. Shorts what their main thing is it has a. Compression layer underneath and then. Just your normal standard short on the top overall I’m very pleased with them. I’ll go over some of the details with you and what makes it their long haul. Short has normal standard looking a mesh. Front back sides has a little mesh events lightweight the back has a. Zipper pocket pretty standard you can put a couple goos you could probably put keys some money credit cards id whatever you’d like to keep in your pockets i mean that one is zippered on each side. Of that you’ll see that it has two mesh pockets here as well they would hold. Probably two or three goos each or i like to leave them blank empty if I’m. Running and it’s cold or you know i have something else with me I’ll uh my hands. Warm up enough I’ll pull the gloves off stick one in each side and it’s held them well so it’s a pretty decent sized pocket it’s got a little elastic to it so it holds things pretty snug and it doesn’t bother you as you run I’ve noticed another feature of the short. That i like i said it’s got the. Compression with some little grippers on it the rippers do okay they’re not great, but they do okay each thigh has a mesh. Pocket inside as well so it’s sits down. On your quad there I’d say on the front. The lateral side there outside one side. It’s a one big pocket you could probably get a phone in there if you wanted a bar a bunch of goo whatever you like to carry with you as you run I’ll carry your usually baggy updates or something and that thing holds it really well the. Other side on the left leg has another. Pocket as well it’s actually divided into three sections she could hold smaller things in there and hold it a little tighter most people have imagined which just shove a goo in each one of those so in all you could probably get a good dozen goos in here if you were going that long i think it’s a great short one. Think about it the fit i thought was a when you do put them ongoing up. Over the hips a little tight the elastic man doesn’t stretch as much as many running shorts but once you get them all, and they fit great no worries haven’t even had a tie only they fit snug i haven’t noticed that. They overheat at all you know I’ve never run with two layers on you know with the. Compression and they’re normal short no heating no holding of sweat I’ve noticed at all they work really well they run. About sixty-five dollars from the north face i found on ebay brand-new for forty. Five so I’m sure you could find them elsewhere on the sale something but um. As far as that goes they’re well worth the money to me the compression it’s. About as tight as just a normal pair of a running you know underwear like if. You’d like to wear nike pro combat or you know under armour the tight compression underwear it’s about that it’s not anything extra you know constricting on their anyway that’s to. Review of course both the emblems on the. Front and back are reflective for safety they do shine in the dark anyway that’s. A review on that just something simple i thought I’d share with you i would definitely think like in my next alter or something you could probably use this. And a handheld water bottle and be fine wouldn’t have to have a pack or anything else and you could resupply at stations. The biggest thing that comes along with the Ultra shoes is the foot shape. Toe box this is so much different than what you get with essentially all other trail runners. The toe box is significantly wider than your typical aggressively tapered trail runner but the shoe still keeps a nice snug heel and a narrow midsection. So your foot isn’t sliding around the toe room is important so that your foot can expand and splay out on each strike. You get the most comfort and rebound out of each stride. With the upper, you get beefed up synthetic materials for increased durability. Ultras also built a four-point gator trap for use with their trail gaiters which are sold separately.
There’s a D-ring at the base of the laces a velcro attachment at the back at the heel and two loops on either sides for securing. The middle of the shoe is also unique ultra builds there. The superior is known for being a lightly cushioned shoe so it’s not gonna give a lot under the foot. It’s designed for the fast and light type of runner who’s already running likely. In this zero drop style, Ultra gives you the option of adding a stone guard plate to protect the midsole. As well it’s a slightly stiffer material that’s just gonna be up the protection that you’ll get under your foot. If you’re shedding as many ounces as possible simply leave it out.
The outsole is all Deraa tread rubber outsole with this trail claw design. This gives you nice directional traction that will adapt to many different terrain types. There are a few different densities of rubber in the bottom. So you’ll have stiffness where you need it and softness where it makes sense. The tread is also a bit more flared toward the edges so you get really good stability from the shoe. As well these shoes are definitely a step up for a lightweight trail runner or racer. They give you enhanced durability without skimping on the excellent toe space or cushion that you should expect from Ultra definitely. The ultra superiors have been my go-to trail shoe for a few years i run in them. All year round and i hike in them in the summer they feel light on your feet, and they’re responsive, but they offer just. Enough cushioning and support for long runs the big toe box lets my toes splay. Naturally and they’re super comfortable right out of the box these are the. Superior 3.5 so let’s take a closer look. The stack height here are 21 millimeters. That remains the same from the heel to. The forefoot which means your heel is not elevated that’s a zero drop design. This promotes better alignment and a more natural posture while running each. Step adds up quickly over a long day of. Running and the zero drop platform lessens the impact of each step the. Midsole is made of ultra lay evie a and ultra put there a bound energy return. Compound right underneath your foot that. Adds spring to each step and reduces. Ground impact keep the stone guard in. For challenging terrain that could bruise or cause discomfort or remove it. Entirely to shed weight when the conditions don’t call for that much protection underfoot these are trail. Shoes so the lugs are deep enough to. Give traction in all conditions this trail claw outsole is featured on some. Of my favorite ultra running styles and the superior 3.5 gets dura tread rubber. Platform and the superior is certainly no different what that means is that your heel and your toes are the same. Distance from the ground this is done to. Promote a more natural stride most folks are running in a traditional method which means your heel is striking the. Ground and you continue to roll through the stride in some cases this running. With an abound top layer for additional. Bounce or rebound the gridded inner flex. Grooves under the foot grant even more responsiveness and keep you moving efficiently you can choose to use the. Need to and tough terrain or obviously you can take it out and remove it when you want to shed weight or don’t necessarily need that extra level of protection this lets the shoes really. Synthetic trail mesh and the durable overlay are super breathable, and they’re meant to protect the foot well overall. These shoes have a lot of going on they’re really lightweight they’re well cushioned but still pretty minimal that. Hey jonny moseley here for peter glenn skiing sports out on the trail here in tahoe testing out some trail runners and i love this one this is the ultra. Superior 3.5 so much cool tech in this. Little shoe alright let’s start with my favorite part see the forefoot they call it foot shape actually looks like your foot allows you to spread your toes out in there and actually use your metatarsals when you’re running i love that also allows you to kind of have a snug shoe without hitting the end of the. End of the shoe or having cramping in the forefront i love that other cool stuff if you’re if your run in the winter and you’re into and you’re running in the rain you can attach your gator to the front to the side to the. Other side to the stern okay four points. Of contact, they call it the gator trap very cool the other thing i really feel when you’re running in this shoe is you see the difference color different color. And the rubber on the bottom because they’ve got this one scored horizontally so you feel like it has a really nice. Flex pattern right where you want it to right when you hit it’s right in the ball of your foot for a good takeoff and easy you know easy flex right there but. It’s also got a bomber heel with a little extra sole so when you. No come and steep and you got to put the brakes on it’s got a little cleat there for you so ultimately really. The combination of these really protects the feet well after a full day of rock hopping on the outside. You get a con to grip rubber outsole. This sole provides a great balance of grip and stability on variable terrain, wet/dry rocky or groomed trails. The grip is just enough without being overly clunky and route to the trailhead. If you like to warm up on pavement before hitting the dirt these can suffice for that as well.

Hey everyone welcome back to my channel. I’m noel and I’m here with another shoe. Review this time we are looking at the. Salomon cents right now on primer group. Which is the group that brings salomon into the philippines sent me the shoe to. Review i did warn them though that I’m. Not necessarily a trail runner and why i. Didn’t tell them was actually that trail is my krypton ite i had to find a venue. To try this shoe out because this is a. Trail shoe and you can see that it has a. Definite trend which is great for trail. But i liked about this also were the. Laces which were speed laces already and. You could hide the very end of the laces. Underneath this little flap on the. Tongue the first time i used it actually. I used it to track and set up run i do. Have a trekking shoe from a different. From a different shoe company but i was. On the trip and i didn’t want to bring two different pairs of shoes so i just. Brought the cents right with me and i used it to track and then the next day. To run i went to the southernmost tip of. Phuket island which is called from deb. Gate and yeah for the most part actually. The very top of that pump that gate is paved over and there’s a platform of. Viewing platforms but then you can also descend towards the rocks and the. Coastline which is the actual southernmost tip and this was something. That i really wanted to do but every time i visited please i always had the wrong footwear so yeah having the sense ride with me on. That trip really facilitated this whole. Downhill trek that is the southern there. And i came from up there obviously you. Still need to pick where you put your foot down in any get any trail venue. Like that but it because i had good. Shoes some of the worries were lifted away. From my mind there’s something about having a good shoe that backs you up and. Helps you stay sure footed that there. Really made that trip down towards the. Southern was two very enjoyable even. Though i wasn’t traveling too fast oh no i was tempted to go run down but the. Thing is i was alone and of course if. You’re alone you don’t want to take too many risks and i wouldn’t mind using the. Shoe again if i were gonna go on another. Mountain or another hike or another trick the second time i used it was the. Next day when i just went for a run on. Roads as well as the beach and again the. Sense ride performed really well. I would run across a field like to make. A shortcut and that meant not running on. Paved roads but the sentence rate also took me admirably through that area it. Was really good because i just felt like i was never going to slip and then when. I took it onto the sand it didn’t sink. Into the sand it just stayed right on top unfortunately i didn’t have breakfast trying that run so i had to cut the round short but it was pretty good one thing that i did notice. With the since ride however when you’re. Running on concrete is your kind of feel. Like it’s a very chunky shoe it’s not a. Very light shoe i think in its class I’m. On trail shoes it is quite light but. As city running shoe it might be it. Might be too much shoe in any case now i. Feel like i have to find other venues to. Run trails in but i probably need to get. A little bit more practice first so if. You guys know any um trailer off-road. Paths within the city of metro manila. That i can try these shoes on and. Hello youtube’s that keep in here back for my first share of you today I’m. Going to be talking you through my go to trail shoe the salomon cents ride I’m. Gonna start this video out with an objective sort of run-through of the. Shoe talk through its technical. Specifications just go over some of the. Features first and then i will say what i think about it obviously since it is my go-to trail shoe i do like it quite a. Lot but i will go through why later in the video so to start things off on the. Salomon website it says this shoe has an. Eight millimeter he’ll draw stack height of 27 millimeters in the rear and 19 in. The front does it weigh 275 grams as. For size i don’t know what that is but. I’d imagine in my size 11 maybe the size. 11 and a half it weighs you know low. 300s so it’s a lighter weight shoe but. It’s not ultra lightweight by any means. it’s got some decently large lugs on the. Bottom nothing terribly aggressive but i. Find that it grips the ground quite well. Especially for dusty rocky environments. With looser terrain it has this pull tab. Sort of lacing system that helps secure. The foot quite well i find in this. Little pocket here where you tuck the. Pull tab wants it to secure its but not. Really — there’s nothing terribly crazy. Or innovative about this shoe it’s just a really solid concept its upper i had. Some nice welded overlays a good mesh. Material but it’s not gonna be something that’s gonna be too out there it’s just. An incredibly solid shoe all around and. It doesn’t feel. Like it’s trying to do something new or. Gimmicky maybe forsaking its performance. Well doing so i find it has really good. Stability i never feel like my foot is. Shifting around too much nor do i feel. Like my foot is to secure it just your. Foot stays in the shoe very well it can. Be Sometimes a bit difficult to get the. Exact tightness that you want with this. Pull-tab lacing system i find when i. Pull it wants to tighten this upper. Parts of the lacing more than it wants to tighten the lower parts which is the same thing with a normal laced shoe but. It’s just something to keep in mind it. Will it’s not gonna just pull close and. It’s gonna be perfect initially what i. Will do is i actually won’t tuck the lace into this pocket until i have both. Shoes tightened to an appropriate amount. And then i will tuck it in so that way i. Can make adjustments when i have both shoes on as i said the lugs are quiet. Secure quite grippy without being. Intrusive I’ve run on the road I’ve. Actually run on the track I’ve run some you know faster intervals in the shoe and i never feel like I’m being hampered. Too much by the fact that it is a trail shoe so if you ever are running to a. Trail network trail system it shouldn’t. Get in the way. Now for the mower the most important part of the shoe in my eyes is the cushioning the ride it has just solid. Feeling that’s if i were to sum up the shoes just solid it’s not you know too. Light too heavy to anything it’s just solid right in the middle this shoe has good cushion but good responsiveness i. Would feel comfortable running any. Length ultra marathon on this you know i maybe have a bias. Towards a lighter shoe but i feel like if you have strong feet and a good. Stride where you strike on the mid foot. To forefoot, you could run as long as you. Want to in this shoe but then you can also take it for shorter trail runs where you’re really tearing up the trails and going fast my only real. Complaint with this shoe is the break-in. Period it’s not uncommon for a shoe to. Have a break-in period obviously but when i first got this shoe before i had. Broken it in obviously i was really underwhelmed for maybe the first 10 or 20 miles it just kind of felt cheap but. Then once you get over that 10 or 20 mile period it’ll really start to shine. It’ll start to become you know an incredibly versatile shoe that you can. Do just about anything in its durable. The shoe I’d imagine has 150 to 200 miles on it. And i think I’m gonna get double that out of it no problem it just keeps on. Going and like i said it’s just a very. Solid all-around shoe as far as the fit. Of the shoe goes i talked about earlier. How the upper really locks down your foot heel there’s no heel slippage i. Didn’t find the shoe fit particularly. Narrower particularly wide it’s just very neutral in that category and i. Think can accommodate a lot of people’s. Foot shape especially it has a somewhat. Stretchy mesh not too much stretch very. Little stretch but it does especially with this pull cord type of lacing. System does allow for a little bit of. Give if you find yourself outside of the. Width that this shoe is intended for. Closing out i am zach keaton this is. Review of the salomon cents ride it is a versatile all-around. Trail shoe that will allow you to do. Whatever you want pretty much with very. Little limitations you can run on the road you can run on the track you can run on the trails and. It’s just a great all-around shoe that solid has good durability and i don’t. Think you will be disappointed with.

People looking for more spread through their feet which is where shoes like challenger coming in and shoes like torrent as well. With the Speedgoat. This was designed around utmb. Now utmb throws everything at runners. So you have very long climbs very sometimes long quiet steep descents.
You have very unpredictable weather conditions. Everything from loose earth to rock and mud, and ice, and slush, and snow so you need something that as well as handling all of that. Is also going to feel out-of-the-way enough that you can run long fast ridges and long fast valleys in a really smooth way. That is exactly I think why the Speedgoat is such a great shoe: because it was designed with a really focused purpose in mind as well being a hundred mile or of course utmb demands a lot of cushions.
The stack heights the amount of cushion underfoot. In the Speedgoat 3 are actually quite close to being the amount of cushion underfoot from the speed, from the bond. I`d rather bought it’s in a less voluminous platform. It’s got all the juicy goodness of Vibram outsole and part of the thing is. Speedgoat obviously cowl melter is the Speedgoat but when look at the way that these logs are patterned they actually work like the toes of a goat for descending in that.
They spread and for climbing that they come together so you have great traction, climbing or descending in this shoe and one of the things people have really loved about the Speedgoat on trial is that for technical staff that heel unit even though it looks like. There’s a lot of cushions there is there and there is a lot of cushions there.
The way that it’s being shaped and tooled actually means that it doesn’t collapse medially or laterally in the kind of way you might expect from such a cushioned shoe. So it gives a really stable safe predictable ride over complex terrain and that is what European mountain running is very much about. So you have this mid and forefoot lockdown that’s keeping the shoe in place on your foot. There’s not a lot of lags as you do technical sort of stuff. The kind of running where you might have six thousand meters of gain in just 65k.
Importantly for people to know, there is nothing wrong with going up a half size because I know that some people feel that technical fit can be a bit squeeze go up. A half size generally not a problem and especially over a longer race where your feet are swelling a bit that tends to actually be. A benefit so there you have Speedgoat 3 slightly roomier toe box than its predecessor. Exactly the same cushion, stable reliable and sticky midsole and outsole array and a little bit of a better midfoot lock downer than previously. That shoe continues their heritage on which it’s built and should really be any serious endurance runners in your arsenal basically for long-distance trail running in Australia.

Start of 2019 i think it’s going to be. In some stores and Christmas and other stores the start of the year in January not a lot of changes for the third. Version of the speed goat compared to the second version the outsole is going. To stay the same the mid sole is gonna. Stay the exact same so fans of the grip of the vibra mega grip no fear that’ll. Be the exact same what we do see is changes to the upper so the idea is it’s. Supposed to be a more durable upper with. A better mid foot lock down so now we. See a new tpu overlays they’ve not used. That before with this configuration in version 2, and we also see a fully capped. Kind of overlay from a tpu outsole on. The upper as well which should prevent some blowouts kind of here as well as. They’re not necessarily sued for the cold weather they’re more suited for the hotter weather but I would say that these would be great for fall you know say if you’re playing football and you know it’s not overly cold. This would be perfect if you still like wearing the cool your leggings or you’d like to have leggings with your football uniform.
I think these are great to go with even kind of weather because you can you won’t be overly hot in them because they’re gonna breathe well.
