Look I just bought this 3x magnifier, it’s a wind in elevation adjustable and it’s from UTG interval. Qd mounts with a flip out or flip the side mount on it and I picked this up as I unbox. It here, truely, first, first unboxing and look because I took some of my rifles to the range and what I notice is that, even if you’re zeroing at 50 yards, seeing where your hits land and really being able to zero in on where those hits are landing, is really difficult without magnification and, as you may know, from our previous video I, actually added these hollows on open reflex, sights which are awesome, but they have no magnification, which is kind of what you expect and for maybe a CQB or a personal sense weapon.
You know, that’s that’s perfectly fine and you may want to zero in at 25 yards. But you know what you want to do is when you’re spending the time to zero, actually know exactly where you’re hitting you want it to be precise, because you ever have to use it or when you run out for fun. You know you’re not going to be bent arresting them. So here is how it comes. First of all, I will tell you that it comes with a couple of hex keys here, a small large one and so I think that is for elevation and windage adjustment, which looks like the large one and then the small one I’m not sure what it’s for, because, even though it looks kind of big so for just the heat here for the Picatinny rail, so it also comes with a tethered like a rubber cover so that I’m just going to wrap it around the base there.
And then we have a Picatinny base here with a quick-release lover, and then this will deploy out do pull it back. You can see a little gap there you pull it back. So once it’s mounted, you pull back. It’s really under a lot of spring tension. Then you flip it off to the side. So then, it’s aside and when you flip it back up, looks like you got to pull it back again and then it’ll snap back in there. As you can see, it’s a pretty big housing will go on side there, but it seems a really robust.
You can see that that the lens area looks like there’s some anti-glare coating on the front and then on the ocular piece. This is serrated there so that you can do some fine focus. Adjustment like I, said windage and elevation adjustments. So now what we want to do is we want to put it on here and for me yeah, you could run it. You know as part of your setup, your rifle setup or pistol setup pistol in my case, but I’m just going to use it for sighting in so let’s go ahead and put it on and see if it works with the salsa all right now the goods in the bed I got this thing installed.
You just have to tighten it up there and then the QD mount lover is pretty nice too quickly release it. One thing that I’m a little concerned about is, when you lock it into the vertical position: I have some play there and kind of much more play than I would prefer and I kind of pulled it back. You know you pull it back here, which is not the easiest thing in the world to do you pull it back under spring tension, and then it has a couple of holes there and a couple of dimples on the front part of this and that’s what locks it in place now.
It’s super sturdy in the down position, which doesn’t do me a lot of good if it we’re going to wobble a little bit, I’d prefer it there, but if I pull it back and then bring it to the top position and even though it’s locked in I mean man I, don’t know what the deal is there. That is a lot of play. Kind of seems like not only side-to-side but even kind of up and down a little bit. So not real happy with that, but I think part of that is I. Don’t know. I just may have gotten a little bit of a dud here, so it’ll probably go back, but you know in terms of functionality, does it work and actually that’s what that’s probably the thing I’m going to I’m, probably most capulet now capturing this on camera is the hardest thing.
I can possibly imagine, but you can see this. This gun is zero and you can see my hollow Sun. You know everything right out of the box. The way it comes. You can see my circle and dot there and while it might be a little hard to see there, hopefully you can see that right out of box I can see it now, it’s a little bit off. That might be a little bit too because of the wiggle of the the magnifier and I can see really clearly a man that’s going to make it actually using this magnifier a lot easier.
Now you can see there, you can see my 65 MOA circle and 2 MOA dot, and you can see how it kind of dances there with the movement in the magnifier right. So, but you know if this work, wiggling I would happily use this now. I can also adjust this to kind of get. It lined up a little bit better, but you know what might be hard to see there is that I can see very well. You know through the glass and actually the dot encircle are really in Nice focus, I mean and I haven’t even played with the dye optic part of the magnifier, so I’m really impressed with this.
Is that truly 3x? It’s hard to say you know from you know from you know, just eyeballing it I’d say it’s probably pretty close. You know, I might say it’s more between 2 & 3 X, because I was using a 4 X at the range last time and I can tell it’s not quite as quite as magnified at this, but this is going to really help to get that circle right on. You know the holes that you’re punching and know if you’re really zeroed in now. Will you run this on? You know a rifle or a pistol all the time you certainly could and because it flips out to the side.
That’s pretty cool, but you know for my purposes and I think for a lot of people. You just want to know that everything is precise and zeroed in so I think it’s pretty cool I would have certainly liked it to be a little more sturdy out of the box, but I think I’m just going to ask for another one and try it out and get to the range and get these other rifles and pistols zero. Then Peter, Bob and I out.

Welcome back, everyone is the intro and a title gave away today we’re going over the vortex, three-car magnifier. Now this one here, I’ve gotten a ton of requests to do because we obviously have reviewed other magnifier before in the past, but not this one. So this is one of more popular ones out there on the market. So coming up next we’re going to talk about some of the features of it and maybe why it’s so popular we’ve got to mount it up here with this Trijicon RMR from OpticsPlanet mounted up on an american defense manufacturing a co witness riser.
So it’s going to be the same for any sort of AR optic that you’re running, including the ones that you’ve seen throughout the video already. Basically to get it zeroed in and whatever you buy zeroed in is you’re, actually not zeroing the optic. The optic is zeroed separately, but to get your magnifier zeroed in by actually turning these little screws here, you’re going to raise the elevation or drop it depending on which way you’re going and on the side here, you’re going to do your windage and what it’s really doing is again.
Windage is not really the right term. What you’re actually doing is moving the dot in the center of the actual focus there. So that way, you can Center your dot in the magnifier. So every time you get a consistent sight picture, but either way, even if you move the dot all the way to the left, all the way up, all the way down it doesn’t matter. Your point of impact is going to be the same regardless I’ve used some footage that we’ve seen in the video already in other videos.
One thing people kept asking was: if you’re going to have a magnifier there, why do you even have backup BOTS irons? Well, simple answer: for that say your optic look down for whatever reason dirt mud get cracks. Whatever the case may be, you can actually hit the button here on the side, move your magnifier out of the way, activate your backup, irons and get back in the fight.
The field of view at 100 yards with the magnifier is going to be 38 feet now. It’s sort of hard to tell with this manual focus that we’re using on the camera here, but here’s what it looks like with the magnifier on there and I’m going to move it to the side, hopefully not disturb the camera too much, and that’s the difference there when you’re, just using the red dog so again with no red dot there I would no magnifier.
Excuse me flipping the magnifier back into place. Don’t get it back on camera! You can see how it magnifies it. Now, it’s a very hazy day, it’s kind of the end of the day right now, so we don’t have to tunnel light. But that is what you can see. It looks a little bit clearer to the human eye than it does here on camera, but it should give you a pretty good idea.
The magnifier comes with an insert this inserts supposed to be used when you have a lower one-third red dot sight. So if you have that you can just insert it here between the actual mount itself and the magnifier, so it goes right in between there, and one thing: that’s important to point out is one of the big criticisms that I’ve read online about this magnifier is that it flips to the wrong side.
The right-handed shooters prefer their optics flip to the right. That said, it is reversible, so you can instead of installing it the way you see here, you can just unscrew these screws flip the mount around and it will flip the opposite way. A few months ago, I did a video with the eotech opmod magnifier here and there’s some pretty big differences between the two.
First and foremost, it’s going to be priced, the EO Tech’s about three times more expensive than the vortex here. So this one in today’s market is going to be generally 150 to 200 dollars, depending where you look, this wont obviously a bit more expensive. This one here is also going to be a little bit more rug, at least in my opinion, it feels a little more rugged still has a zeroing ray on the back.
Just like the vortex does. The mount is a quick detach, as opposed to the screw and when you’re actually centering the dot you Center it here with the screws or I should say not the screws. You Center it by hand, as opposed to with the screws in the vortex. The glass on the EOTech is a little bit like ever so slightly clearer, not too much. That’s honestly, a very minor difference it in -.
So in that category, the vortex, that’s very low I think we covered most of the details in the optic here. So far, one thing I know I left out is that it is nitrogen purge. So it’s fine. If you’re going to be out there, hunting with it in the rain and stuff like that, you’ll be just fine. It’s not going to have any issues there, even if you ever did have any issues for Tech’s offers a lifetime.
No questions asked no conditions, warranty, which is really awesome. I recommend vortex a lot just because of that, because you know they sort of are competing with some of the lower end stuff, especially with products like this, but the performance is great, especially for the money, and even if you happen to have these one-off, the one that’s problematic, the warranties off of their customer service and everything you read online about it is really great, and you certainly can’t complain about that.
The other factor I think I left out is that it’s a just under 12 ounces in weight. I know that’s something that a lot of folks are really concerned about when adding it onto their rifles. So I think that pretty much covers it. If you guys have any questions that we didn’t cover here in there Ruby and always post below in the comment section, we’ll also put a link to boar Texas site below.
So if you have like specific product questions that I might not know about, you can ask them as well, but thanks for watching thanks for subscribing and I’ll, see you the next video.
Hey I’m Jimmy over at vortex optics and today we’re here to have a little flip mount combo. The vmx 3t adds a three power magnification to virtually any AR height red dot sight. So let’s have a look simple, fast and effective. The push-button design engages and disengages the flip mount, allowing the magnifier to lock into your desired position. The result, a 3 power, magnified view or unmagnified view all at the push of a button, just press and flip quick and easy optically.
The lenses are fully multi-coated maximizing resolution, light-gathering capability and color fidelity and the vmx 3t gives users a generous three and a quarter inches of eye relief. With the thirty eight point, two foot field of view at 100 yards, the magnifier is also nitrogen. Purge for reliable, waterproof and fog proof performance in the field. The vmx 3t does not require any special sighting.
However, the dot centering screws can be helped to Center the red dot image in the vmx three T’s field of view. Please note these screws do not change the sights point of aim. You’re, not citing anything in when you adjust these knobs. They simply align the view of the magnifier with the red dot sight if you’re looking for a simple, reliable, 3 power, magnifier, the vortex vmx 3t magnifier in flip mount combo is the way to go check one out at your local vortex optics dealer, and if you choose to purchase one, you can rest assured in knowing that it is covered by our unlimited, unconditional lifetime.
Vip warranty thanks again.
Hey guys operate seven here. This is a review of the spark DMX – 3 T magnifier. This is the 3 x magnifier, which I’m using right now with my red dot. This is a vortex park, red dot. You can use it with any airsoft grade red up because the lenses are so clear and so good. They work really well with just about any readout but I’m using it with the vortex part. As you can see, they really work very well together, and this magnifier is very easy to mount I’m going to show in a minute right now, I’m going to show you how easy it is to use how to use it and what other options you have in order all set up right now, so I’m gonna just show you how this is done.
Okay, in order to use the magnifier and to transition from magnifier to red dot. All you have to do is with your thumb and just press this button. Okay and then, with your index finger or your middle finger, just flip it to the side and you’ll go to read off mode. Okay, as you can see, this is done very fast, very easily in just a few seconds. I’m going to do exactly the same. All you have to do is push it in and then flip it to this side.
So once you you become, you see this a few seconds. Okay, this right now is working. The flip is going to the magnifier going to the left side, because this is a standard mode. So this is the the way that that comes from factory that vortex has in the manual. However, I prefer to use it flipping to the right hand side, because right here it just gets too close to the face. It covers and works. Much of of the of my vision and so I prefer to mount it in such a way that it will, instead of flipping to his hands, I will flip to the right hand, side and, however, there’s an inconvenient in this.
The the button won’t stay won’t be any the button will change its placing it will go to the front part, so we can go from the back to the front and it will be a bit harder to reach, but I’m going to show you how to do this right now. Okay, so in order to disassemble the the magnifier, all he has to do is unscrew this okay, it’s already off and, as you can see, that a couple screws down there then use the screwdriver to unscrew them and the mount comes right off.
All you have to do right now is just slip the mount around and screw these back on. Okay, it’s not ready to mount the other way around. As you can see. As you can see, the the button is right now on the fourth and but it works much better like this. As you can see, okay right now, it’s a little bit different. What you have to do is weather with your index finger or your middle finger, just reach the button on the front and then perhaps using the the index finger just flip it to the side.
Okay and then again, so you always have to to take your hand off the gun in order to flip the magnifier to the side, but it’s your very easy and fast process to do, and it works really well, when I’m going to show you how how great it looks and how the quality of the lenses? Okay- as this is just to show you how clear the lenses are right now taking account that the we’re looking through the vortex Park, it has a blue hue. It has a filter, that’s why it gets kind of bluish, but it looks really well really cool and I’m gonna flip it to the side, yeah, okay, so there’s the vortex long.
Let me try to get the results very easy with the camera and here’s the the magnifier looks really well okay, so it has a very clear image, very crisp and very good and just flip it to the side. Again there you go very good, very nice. You don’t read out quite thanks for watching guys. You.

Our right guys went back today with another high value, magnified review and I get a ton of questions about three times magnifiers on the channel and I want to start off this review. By saying this I do not like three times magnifiers um, there’s very limited circumstances that I will use one and then, on top of that it has to be a good one. So the only one that I really use is actually the vortex flip the side, bang the fire the modelin are on.
That is actually the vmx three-team magnifier and it’s got a flip mount attached with spacers to make it for the Fulco witness or the lower 1/3 cut. Witness I, absolutely love that when it came to magnifiers- and that was pretty satisfied, $200 price point, then in comes holo Sun and now my views have changed on magnifiers, really the ergonomics in eye box of magnifiers. If you’re not familiar when you’re looking at a magnifier, it’s like looking at a scope.
You have to get your cheek perfectly lined up to allow you to really use that NAB unifier appropriately now with the red dot. You can keep both eyes open and kind of shift, your eye left or right and as long as you see the dot you’re good to go, noting blacks out or changes colors or looks weird as long as the dots on target most likely you’re gonna hit it. Given the parallax correction. Now with the magnifier, it’s a little bit different as a scope.
When you shift your head left or right, it starts to black out or get out of focus. So you really do have to keep your cheek in a correct position with a 1 to 4 power optic or one. The 6 power low-power variable optic I feel like you get the best of both worlds, with a red dot and a magnifier. But there are some cases when a red dot and magnifier combo is necessary and then I like it and having a nice crisp red dot like this to MOA I, call it the back-to-basics red dot with a turn.
Knob is really nice for up close shooting, but if you did want to stretch this gun after 300 yards occasionally having a foot beside magnifier would be great. If you were mainly using this for CQB now, we can talk about the benefits and negatives of flipped, aside magnifiers versus LPOs and prism optics, but just know this I do use them in my inventory, but they’re, not my go-to, but with this hollow Sun that may be changing a little bit because of the user interface and again the relief on this hollow Sun.
It’s actually the HM, 3x and OpticsPlanet was nice enough to send this over to the channel for us to try out. They have this on sale right now for $200 as well the same price as the vortex, and you can use my coupon code, 704 tactical for 5% off your order, which is great. So this was sent over at OpticsPlanet and I was a little bit leery about reviewing another magnifier, but man am I glad they sent it over because I fall in love. You guys want to pause it right now and look at all the specs kind of get all the information off the box.
Now, let’s talk about its performance down at the range. The first thing I want to talk about is the fact that it actually is a QD mount and it does include two spacers, depending on the height of your optic. So this lines up perfectly: it’s got an adjustable die output on the back and it actually has a left and right adjustment. So you can Center everything up now. This doesn’t affect your point of aim. It just centers the lens system, on whatever optic, you’re using and gets everything centered correctly.
The cool thing about the hollow Sun is I talked about the eye relief, and if you can imagine that it’s, if your cheek is resting on here generally with the vortex, you have to be really close and really solid. If you start shifting left or right, the reticle actually disappears, and it starts going black. You know like a scope, but with the hollow Sun it seems like you, have more play, left and right as well as front to back so the eye box and eye relief is much better on the hollow Sun.
Also, the glass is very crystal clear and the adjustable by operator helps a lot, but the biggest thing that the hollow Sun has going for it, which, in my opinion, makes it a little bit better than the vortex. Is the quick flip to side and detent lock, but that is also it’s negative compared to the vortex. If somebody wanted a rock-solid mount that wasn’t going to shift, if you accidentally bumped it a little bit go with the vortex, but if you’re, okay, with the potential of a slight shift, if you accidentally bump it go with the Hollow Sun I, think you’re gonna be a little bit happier.
That being said, when you’re firing, you can actually reach up, pull it down and with almost no effort, barely even breaking your grip, you can literally fit their hand up push it without the pressing, a button and now engage your targets at a distance, much quicker. So for a 3-gun scenario or a personal defense scenario: we’ve taken CQB shots. You can actually reach up flip it over without the pressing a button and the transition is seamless making this one of the smoothest, holo, Sun or smoothest magnifiers I’ve ever tried.
So in summary, guys, if you’re looking for a magnifier check out this hollow Sun at the $200 price, you will not be disappointed again about the only negative, which is also a positive, is the fact that it doesn’t lock in place. I am so glad that they did this because now, with the smooth transition, simple flip of the magnifier, you can truly use this at rapid speeds to take far-distant shots. But again, if you have something like a hollow Sun with an AC, SS, reticle and you’re taking distant shots most of the time and you accidentally bump it like this, you could potentially come up off target and you’d have to correct and flip it back, not a big deal, but something to consider if you’re debating between the vortex and the Hollow Sun.
So I hope this gives you a high value option to throw behind the red dot to hit those distance shots thanks for watching guys have a good one.
This video is brought to you by patreon, hello and welcome. You find yourself checking out this. No, it’s not the pack, even though this pack is really nice. I want to. I want to ask alex what what make this is, because I quite like it looks like it could be useful for a lot of stuff that I have, but anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself, not the pack, but what’s inside the pack, patreon provider alex, unfortunately, does not have the box to go along with this holosun 3x magnifier now you’ll note that this block over here, if you had already watched the holosun 503 unboxing that I did was inside the box.
What that is, is a spacer for under here to raise this higher or lower, depending on what sort of optic you are running and or how you prefer it. But here it is the model on this is hmx 3x, blah blah blah blah their standard. 3X magnifier I’ve been wanting to get my hands on more house and stuff, because not only do you guys like it, but I also really like holosun so much so that when patreon provider scott had sent in his 512 and his 510 for review, I sort of didn’t let him get this back yep.
I bought this off of him because I liked it that much um by comparison to like, let’s say, uh one. I prefer this a lot more anyway, getting ahead of myself, holosun 3x magnifier. I would assume that the box that this comes in is very standard of holosun, with a nice sleeve and a big nice plastic around it and really well fitted tight fitted foam, but we’ll just have to use our imaginations. It does, however, come with a nice bikini cover, which I have said numerous times I really like, and that’s basically it there’s not much to really talk about magnifiers I’ll start at the base, though, because that is one important part of any sort of system is how you’re going to mount it to your firearm.
This one looks like it has the exact same quick release mechanism from the 510 that I had reviewed from scott, which I said in that review. I kinda like it is adjustable if you so need to tension it, depending on what picatinny really you’re using allen key header right there. What you do is you unlock it flip this out of the way, make your adjustment cinch it down and lock it in place. Another nice feature about this is it has two hard stops here that interlock inside your picatinny rail, which I can show you, there’s a little piece that I have here once it’s on there.
It ain’t going anywhere, you’ll, lock that in place and you’re good to go standard flip to the right or you can rotate this around and have it flip to the left, depending on your preference. It makes no real difference to me currently, but I’m sure if I was running this on a particular system that I would definitely try it in both ways just to see which way I prefer. So that is the flip mechanism.
Out of the way, this does feel pretty decent. The action on this when it is out of the way it does have some wiggle room. I think the action on the vortex micro 3x that I had reviewed from scott was a little bit nicer, certainly the fit and finish felt and looked better, but this is also 200 that micro 3x, that I had reviewed from scott was, I believe, 300. So there’s a there’s a bit of a difference there I mean this is 50 less expensive than that micro 3x, so you can’t expect it to be as good in every regard, moving away from the mount we’re going to look at the quick adjust eyepiece in the rear, and that is the tension.
I want to feel when I adjust a quick adjust eyepiece. Do you know why? Because this thing is never ever going to adjust itself by throwing it in your bag or taking it out or running across the table, because this thing is tight, you can see there from the my thumbnail, not a picture, but the cuticle, under my thumb, how much pressure I have to put on this to have it turn action feels very smooth.
It just feels like there’s someone grabbing onto it and preventing it from moving, which is something I like to see. The only other thing to really look at this that’s adjustable are the windage and elevation adjustments on this. Now this doesn’t move a reticle. It just moves the glass inside to make the reticle on the red dot that you have perfectly zeroed already centered in this, so not as important, but still something that you do have to adjust to make sure everything is right.
I’m using a cap from the 503, which should fit in here like a glove, very smooth action on this good details, audible clicks, as you can hear a lot less resistance on this than it is on the 503. This is probably as good as you could get as far as it being damped properly. The 503 just feels like you’re you’re breaking something, whereas this moves in a nice fluid motion with good, solid positive clicks, all righty.
Let’s take a look through it. My only real complaint that I had with the vortex micro 3x was how close you had to get your eye to it. To really look through it properly, this seems to be a little bit more forgiving, but it still offers from what I can tell right now a really good field of view, and you don’t see a whole lot of the body which is another pet peeve of mine. So take a look at the edges on this center is nice and sharp, and- and it seems so far edge to edge is also very, very good flipping over to the side, you get a really good sense of the proper coloring and then, when we flip it back down, it has a very good color representation.
It doesn’t seem to get much darker if at all and I’d say this is a pretty good performance so far so far, it seems to be pretty damn good and I’m very curious to see how this is going to perform with a myriad of different red dots that I have to see how well it will function at different heights, because some of them are a little bit taller than others and just generally see how well you can see through it.
Because that’s one thing again, I my only real comparison from this is the micro 3x from vortex, but no matter what optic I put that behind. It always gave you a full field of view through the magnifier, despite the size of the body on the red dot or its offset height. So this has a pretty good fight up ahead. Anyway, that’s going to conclude this unboxing for right now alex. Thank you so much for sending this in for review.
I cannot wait to run this through its paces soon and see exactly how well it works as always. Thank you very much for watching, see you again next time and a huge thank you to all of my patreon supporters. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible.
Hi everybody welcome to prepper junkie. Today we’re going to go over the haul of some 3x magnifier. It’s one of the relatively latest offerings. It’s not been out for too long from Hollow Sun. So let’s dive on in here to have a close-up look at it or my dog as it walks by alright. So, as you can see here, there’s a QD mount which is really nice and the encasing the enclosure here is made of aluminum, and on top here you can probably see how this rises up, and so this is milled end and basically encloses these.
These little could have turret things here: -, no, not turrets for their settings, they’re little dials to protect them. So you don’t get knocked the one of the really nice things about the hollow sub. That really attracted it to me is is how it swings to the side. Just simply swings to the side swings back measure of the EOTech right and that’s and I love my EOTech I. Have it here we’ll do a little side-by-side here in just a sec, so this flip back and forth is phenomenal locks in place.
It’s not going anywhere bring it back, locks in place, it’s not going anywhere. I have previously had the vortex mount I. Have you know a 3 X we’ve had to push the button in and flip it to the side and I and as nice as the little the vortex magnifier is I absolutely hated that so this is really nice. I love this this feature one of the best features for me. The glass is really clear, not as clear as it yo Tex, but you know at double the price you know.
You’d expect I think a little better glass than than what’s on here, but the the glass is very clear. It’s though very good glass for what it for the for what it is. No complaints there, the QD mount there’s a little button just right behind here. As I push this, you can probably see this part moving. This is a locking mechanism, push that in and simply take the mount off on the little another little feature.
They’ve added here is this little part here where you simply unscrew this, and it comes out as a little tool and that’s designed to turn these dials right here. So again you can use a screw driver or whatever else that’s totally up to you have one of the downsides. If you run em bus backup, sights like Ida or any kind of backup site I, don’t know how well this parts been thought out.
As you can see on this side, I can’t take that out, because my emboss site blocks it right there so kind of a downside. It’s still nice to have I guess, but it’s not gonna be super useful for me. Let’s take this back off. Okay, the eye relief- and this is about I- was it’s very accurate. They say it’s about two and three quarters of an inch. I would agree with that. The eye relief is actually very good for a 3x magnifier one of the best I’ve come across the EOTech magnifier, which I freaking love by the way the EOTech magnifier doesn’t have as good a relief as a hollow Sun, I would say.
The EOTech magnifier is an inch and a half or so for eye relief, so definitely better eye relief on the whole Sun, better glass on the EOTech and I think the QD mount is better on the EOTech, also just with first impressions. Obviously this is not Cypress in comparison. I don’t mean it to be like that. I think the Hollow Sun is a fantastic offering for two hundred bucks. I generally believe they have an absolute home run with this.
I would choose this with with my initial impressions. I would choose this over the vortex, it would even contemplate. I would choose this. Possibly you know if I’m looking for another magnifier as much as I absolutely love. My yo tech. This is you know on sale was 180 bucks. This is like four hundred and fifty, so is it over double the price worth it I, don’t know! That’s up to you, but you know if I was considering another 3x I would definitely definitely this would be in the leading to buy because I’ve been super super pleased with it.
What else do we have to talk about? I? Think, that’s probably about it guys. You know. If you have any questions, any comments, please leave them below I’m happy to help you if I can, and that is it it that, like that subscribe, but really appreciate it, and, as always, I really appreciate room phone along have a great day, guys.

Good morning, everyone hope you’re all having a wonderful day today. So today we’re gonna be talking about a fairly interesting magnifier. This one specifically, is from faaaace. It is their one and a half to five variable zoom magnifier, which sounds really interesting, but before we get into this, I just want to say that this one here was sent out to me for free by faaaace, so I didn’t have to tape for this. So keep that in mind when I’m talking. However, this is a fairly interesting magnifier in the fact that it is a variable magnifier and also in terms of costs.
This specific, magnifier I believe, is going for about $80, and there should actually be a link to this one here in the description below on Amazon. So, first up, let’s go ahead and talk about its features and its size, so it’s actually a fairly bulky magnifier. If you look at it, it is a 1 and a half to five it’s about five inches long. It technically has a thirty millimeter objective lens, but the rear end of it is a big, it’s very, very bulky. So it’s a lot bulkier than a lot of other magnifiers on the market, it’s much larger than say the vortex VM x3, which is like $199 or two hundred dollars hundred fifty dollars somewhere in that range and it’s much much larger than a lot of the higher end like the EOTech ones and some other magnifiers on the market.
So it’s very, very large and in that terms it’s also fairly heavy for its size, although not too heavy it’s a little bit heavier than the EOTech 512 that I had in front of it, but it also comes with a flip to side mount which is fairly nice and actually for the money is not bad. It’s not the best flip to side mount in the world, but it’s not terrible either. Now I have this one here set to flip to the left side, just because I was being very simple with it. I didn’t need to change it to the other side, I, don’t mind having them on the left side, because normally I’m not looking through the optic the entire time.
So it doesn’t block my vision only when I’m actually shooting and looking through the through the optic, so I’ve had this magnifier for about a month now and most of the time it’s been on this nine millimeter. This is my AR nine seven and a half inch barrel which actually recoils a little bit more than five five. Six. It’s a lot snappier, but I did also originally have this on my 10 five, five, five six with a different red duct- and it did just fine on there as well in terms of total round, counts between six and eight hundred rounds, which isn’t a lot in terms of total rounds, but for a very inexpensive magnifier that people probably aren’t shooting all that much to begin with.
It’s a good, it’s a good amount of rounds and, of course, also a nine millimeter, which does kick a little bit more than five five. Six now under recoil, a lot of cheap magnifiers tend to wobble, either forward and back or side to side in their mount this one here, the mount on it is actually fairly decent and it’s held up. Okay, now I haven’t done any sort of drop tests on it, because it’s kind of an inexpensive optic, so I really didn’t want to just drop it and break it and say: hey: look.
It broke on a drop test when it’s not designed to be any sort of duty use application. So this one here doesn’t really have much left to right, wobble on there, but you’ll see it in the video that I’ll put in here in some slow-mo is that when you fire, it does have some forward and back wobbles. So that’s where most of the wobble comes from is forward and back which, in my opinion, is a little better than side to side forward and back a little bit easier because it always just resettle right on the optic.
So you don’t have any play left right now. Let’s go ahead and talk about the glass itself, because that is, as you can probably imagine, one of the letdowns of it, because it does have a lot of really high-end features like a variable magnifier from one and a half to five sounds extremely useful. It almost turns your red dot sight or your holographic sight in this case, in into a low-power variable optic. You know, like your 1 to 6 your 1 to 5 is your 1/8. That sort of thing- and this almost does that except the execution of it, of course for $80, is very, very poor.
So on 1 and 1/2 X right now, you actually have a very decent amount of eye relief like your about I, don’t know three and a half four inches back, which is very, very good. However, you tend to have a little bit of scope: shadow in the middle, if you’re, looking in bright light, you’ll actually see like a ring on the inside, which is, is a little bit jarring. It’s not always there, but sometimes you do get a little bit of scope, shadow inside the optic itself, and that being said, the one-and-a-half X isn’t really one-and-a-half X, it’s definitely more like 2 X.
So it’s definitely more of like a 2 to 5 2 to 4 and a half magnifier, not really a 1 and a half to 5. So it doesn’t it’s not actually as versatile as it seems now, when you rack it all the way up to 5 X, which is just a 90 degree throw so it’s a very short little throw on there. Oh with this big rubber chunk here, which is actually a fairly tactile, it has really good knurling on it, but again we’ll get to the you with 5x and a second so 5x. The eye relief shortens down to basically a EOTech of about an inch and a half, maybe 2 inches, but generally on the shorter side there.
So you have to choke up a really long way, so if you’re used to shooting it on one and a half and you’d have to switch it over to five or in this case back over to five, you got to choke up a long ways to get any sort of sight picture now. The glass quality itself is very dark, and it’s very soft. So nothing is really very sharp or very clear when looking through the optic, which is a really big issue- red dot, magnifiers work really really well on really high precision, red duct or holographic such as this ootek, with a 1 MOA, Center dot.
So in theory, what you should be getting with a red dot magnifier is, you should be allowing you to extend your maximum range. However, for most people, I would say with a red dot. Their maximum range is about 300 yards, which is probably much longer than they’ll ever need to take a shot, but even if they don’t need to take a shot, a red dot magnifier can help them to get better target ID to see the target a little bit better and so to increase your hit probability at longer range.
However, with this on, my 10-5 I took it out to 300 yards with the red dot magnifier on there and are different to MOA red dots, so not quite as precise as this guy and what we ended up finding was that we had the same hit probability with just the red dot, just a to annoy red dot than we did with the chili red dot and the magnifiers and with the Thule red dot. Of course, you have a red dot, so you have infinite islands here, just looking through that and finding your target and putting the top on it and then, when you add in a magnifier, especially if you have really short I relief depending on your position, if you’re prone, you have to get your head in a really awkward position to be able to see your target versus if you just something clear up inside, had anywhere in that box and you’re going to be able to see in the truth target.
Also, on top of that, something about this manga part specifically, is because the further you go up in magnification the tighter and more harsh that I box becomes and the less image quality you get looking through the glass generally speaking, audios right, I always ran on one-and-a-half, X or really two X is what it really is, because one-and-a-half X is a big jump. It’s not just a little jump. One and a half X is a big jump. So it’s much closer to two, if not a little bit more than that, so basically all the times that I was running the you tour, the magnifier on it I was always running it on its lowest magnification, setting where I had the most eye relief and even with it, on its lowest magnification 2x really does help at about like 50 yards and beyond.
It’s a lot faster because they’re not having to find a very small target with a very small dot, and it really helps to bring that target into focus. So it is definitely usable in that, like 50 to 150 yard range when standing, but if you get perón or you’re trying to do really odd positions that magnifier can really start to hurt you, because now you have two can’t and find your right eye relief to be able to see the target versus just having your holographic, and you can see as much as you want to, and that really leads into another discussion about inexpensive or budget magnifiers in general.
In my opinion, unless you have a really high quality magnifier that works, that mount is the mount is really good on it. The glass is really good. The eye relief is good and it fits what you need on your gun. If you really need that extra hit capability, the extra target identification at longer range that sort of thing 99% of the time, if not 100%, of the time. You’re gonna be better without a magnifier, especially without a budget magnifier, because a budget magnifier it attempts to solve one issue which is not having any magnification with your red dot or holographic, and it introduces about four or five other problems.
For instance, in this case, you have bad eye relief or eye relief that changes depending on where you’re looking at it. You have bad glass quality, so you go from a very clear yo tech to now a very brownish tinted soft glass on the magnifier. You also now have a wobbly mount that you know may or may not hold up, and really this goes for almost any budget magnifier, not just this one in particular, for instance, even the or text the the VMT three or whatever one.
That is the one that’s like 150 to 200 bucks, I’ve owned a couple of those and I’ve always ended up selling them because they do just introduce more problems than they fix, and so in the long run. I really don’t think that it’s worth it and honestly, like I, said hitting targets at 300 yards with a red dot is fairly easy, especially if you know what you’re doing on any sort of 556 300 blackout build they’re very, very easy to do, and you don’t really have any issues with that.
So unless you for a very specific use case and need a magnifier, I would always recommend either just not going with one or buying a high-quality one that doesn’t introduce all those other problems. Now, there’s always downsides with magnifiers. For instance, you’re always gonna have to fight for eye relief, and you know your glass quad, you may not be the best. You got to have a really good mount on it. So, even if you have a really nice magnifier, there is still some issues that are introduced by adding a magnifier, but in generally speaking, I.
Don’t think budget magnifiers make any sense of whatsoever. Now, if you were using this on like a varmint gun or something like that, you’d be better off just having a high magnification scope for varmint hunting than you would having a red dot and a magnifier which is much more expensive than just buying a cheap, high magnification scope on your twenty two, five, five, six or whatever else that your varmint hunting with so now. All that being said, I don’t find the Fiats you one and a half to five a horrible optic.
It does just introduce a lot of downsides and a lot of drawbacks to your fairly simple red dot system. So that being said, I really don’t think it’s worth it for any sort of serious application for any sort of varmint hunting application. So really, unless it’s just a fun, you know gun that you just really want to have a magnifier on, and you think it looks cool, there’s not really a purpose to owning one. So, yes, I got this one here for free, no I, don’t really like it, and so I will actually be ending up, giving it away to whoever.
If somebody chooses this upper in the giveaway which actually ends the day, this video gets up. So, if you’re seeing this video and it’s Saturday the first day that it’s up, you need to enter the giveaway by liking the picture of the Iliad on my Instagram or sending me an email which every one is easier for you, so that is pretty much it for the FAQ sheet one and a half to five X magnifier. It’s not all that great though again for 80 bucks, there’s really not a whole lot to complain about.
So all that said guys. Thank you so much for watching I hope you enjoyed this video. Of course, if you want to help out the channel any way you can like share subscribe and in the description, I think I have my paypal for donations or tips or whatever you want to do, and I also have a subscribe start open, which is essentially a pro to a patreon. It’s essentially identical to patreon and there’s going to be monthly giveaways there. So, if you sign up there, there’s only gonna be a few people for the first few months, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to get something.
So all that being said once again, thank you guys. So much for watching I hope you guys enjoyed and I will see you guys in the next one peace off, hey, you yeah you. What are you still doing here? The videos over Oh wires doing here like share it subscribe or don’t the choice is yours, but if you do subscribe, thanks Ballack get a piece. Ah, there you go did not see yeah.
What’s going on folks, so there you have it one of my christmas gifts actually got it from my son, the fiat m36 magnifier one and a half to five power. So I’ve never uh toyed with one of these before or never. I’ve never tried it out before, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. Hopefully I can get this thing dialed in correctly properly and whatnot, and it’s gonna made up with my fiachi v30, which the company sent to me for testing and I posted my own experience and results with it and overall I’m very happy with it and definitely not a bad red dot for the money.
Definitely not bad check out. My video on that. So uh can’t show any installation footage, but we will be right back and also field test it, hopefully, tomorrow all right all right, she’s assembled. Now I think overall it is a uh well-constructed device. The one thing that I did notice just a minor- I don’t know criticism the magnification ring.
It doesn’t have any um painted index marking method. So right now it’s at one and a half power. So I found the closest knurling and I put a weatherproof sticker on it. So this way I can tell where I’m at so to speak, all right and let’s see, if I can do this with one hand, so it flips over it’s pretty tight too. So it’s not going to loosen up.
I don’t think it’s and it’s going to be kind of hard to give you a demo, but there she is not bad and let’s see here, one-handed again where’s that button come on there. We go got it and then I just learned something on these devices, or at least with this particular brand. These are centering screws, dot, centering screws, this one’s for uh elevation, this one’s for windage and it says in manual it doesn’t affect the uh impact point of impact, but I guess it’s a way to align the magnifier with the red dot dot itself, so that wasn’t too bad these guys.
I lock tied it down the main installation bolt nut, also lock-tited with blue loctite and there she is field test coming up soon, all right overall, not bad. I have it at the proper eye. Relief installation point so yeah there you go another decent product from fayachi and I would recommend it no drop testing on this one for sure all right take care.
You have been watching this channel for a while. You already know that I spent quite some time trying to find a perfect red dot system and magnifier for my ar-15 and I did stop made my choice with the red dot and it’s the red dot, CPR spot scope. Cpr. If you want to check it out, I’ve done a review on this channel, but whenever it came to the magnifier I’ve did so many different review of those just haven’t quite liked any of them, and specifically my options were whenever it came to budget-friendly site, something that is below 100 bucks and I.
Think I found a perfect option. This is the magnifier from piache. It’s only 80 bucks currently on Amazon. The link is in the description below it. Does everything I like it to do? In fact it does it so good I kind of think that she actually might have been watching my magnifier reviews and they built a magnifier specifically to what I like.
First of all, we have the button which is nicely in the right side. They engage disengage button and, judging by the previous review that are made of the magnifiers a lot of them, some people seem to underestimate the importance of this engage disengage mechanism and here’s the thing whenever it comes to combat situation most of the times whenever I do the review.
That’s what I think about I think about survival situations, I think about the combat situation. If you don’t have a good engage disengage mechanism that you you straddle it, maybe it’s a good mechanism, but you struggle with it. You don’t feel comfortable with it. You can’t really do it fast. You know disengaging engaging it really takes away the purpose, if you think about, because it’s like having a rIDOT system that you cannot turn on whenever you need to.
What’s the point of that anyway, that’s why the first thing that usually concentrate on is that engage disengage, make energy. As you can see, it has a very nice button which again is on the right side to my specifications. You know not the opposite side of this. It is very similar, in fact, this button right here to a much more expensive, vortex vmx, which I have reviewed on this channel excellent magnifier, just a little bit on the pricier side, because it’s almost 200 bucks 199 currently on Amazon, again they’ve done the review here.
You can check it out now. Yes, the vortex is an excellent magnifier. Vortex is a great company general. They have excellent warranty, but there is one thing that make this magnifier from Fiat extend above vortex, at least in my own eyes. Is this variable magnification and if you’ve done your research on magnifier already, you probably already know that there aren’t really a lot of magnifiers with variable magnification, and here it actually goes up to 5 most of the times most of the magnifiers.
They go up to 3 and there is one that I reviewed on this channel that goes up to 4. This one is superior, goes up to 5 and, of course you can switch it between one and a half to five pretty good. Now, whatever it comes to the eye relief and make sure that there’s nothing here whenever it comes to the eye relief of this magnifier, it’s actually very, very forgiving, not on the five on the two on the three.
You can definitely go as far as five inches and still be fine with the irony and, of course there are a huge row backs. First of all, piache is a Chinese brand. Magnifier is made in China still probably worth mentioning that there aren’t really a lot of magnifiers on the budget below hundred bucks that are not made in China.
Keep that in mind. The real drawback here, however, is that the lineup is not exactly perfect, as you can see, probably just about one millimeter off. However, you do have an option to adjust height of the magnifier. However, keep in mind that, because it’s the circular motion that you are adjusting, you can’t really adjust it perfectly, because if you are getting the height of the magnifier right, you’re now messing up the windage, so you’re getting the elevation right.
The windage yes I said: well, that’s fine, no big deal even the one millimeter below you can still see everything perfectly. The glass is nice and clear. You can see your target and so far I have shot about 500 rounds, whiz’s, magnifier and absolutely no problems with the recoil. Here’s the thing the installation is very easy.
All you do is just tighten the screw. However, I do recommend tightening this particular one extra hard, because at one point it actually did unscrew keep that in mind. Nevertheless, I do like this screw design whenever it comes to the installation, because whenever it comes to magnifiers, it actually does help it’s not a problem with the magnifier as much as with the red dot to actually take off your scope and then putting it back on whenever you come out on the Reg, for example, with the red dot.
If you do that, you do need to readjust it whose magnifier you don’t really need to do it just mounted behind your bread that you should be good to go. I’m not gonna mess up with your sight so overall, at about 80 bucks, I. Think so far, this is the best option, at least to my own specifications. Whenever it comes to the magnifier.
Let me know guys in the comments below what you think about this viatra magnifier. Now, if you’re not familiar with Fiat, your brand I have done actually a few reviews on products from them guys. Actually, if you read that systems, and so far, I’ve been pretty impressed with them good quality holding up well holding the recoil without any problems, no malfunctions at all so far.
So thank you very much guys for watching. If you have any requests drop them in the comments below this was helpful, make sure to hit that thumbs up button and subscribing. Definitely, let’s you guys in the next video.
