All my one week vacation just about every day but that’s. These will come in very handy. This is the echo you co storm proof match cap. This is actually a good size match safe it’s waterproof. This in my person and let’s get a closer look at. It actually has one of the things. It as a removable striker pad. And there are two or three extras inside the camp get a closer look here. These are big matches compared to the little coghlan’s waterproof windproof matches the extra strikers are down there normally. Itake district are off. It in there is a substantial Oh ring and. Ilike to Snug it rights down. And remove one match at a time. This is the match itself let’s see that’s a pretty big waterproof. And windproof match. Now I’m going to show. You a demonstration like. Iwas carried a Zippo lighter. Or a Bic several ways of making fire but. These are you know last-ditch. Everything else is wet. Or soaked I’m going to show. Something I’ve discovered with. These matches that is very cool. What I want to show. You may or may not know. This but something new to.

That I’ve just discovered so. We got the match all right. We got a striker this baby up right there. Now watch it’s in the water is. That not cool what they also don’t blow out very easily until. You get to the wooden part so. Ithought that was really neatI’m not going to demonstrate. It again these matches are. Isaid last ditch her last resort. Idon’t want to use them up but. I’m going to take a look at. This coghlan’s waterproof pouch. These are probably familiar to a lot of people. These are the brand. That are sold at a lot of hardware stores its a four-dollar bag. It looks fairly large maybe for like a manual. Or a map something, so I’m going to open. Idon’t see any way to just open. It so we’ll cut and it’s in a pretty heavy bag. They would have offered a way to reuse. It’s really heavy plastic but anyway we’re buying the bag in the side so it’s in a plastic bag with. This heavy paper and there’s the bag so. Iguess it’s can measure. It here first off it’s pretty obvious. That it’s made in taiwan. That right away it looks like it’s about 14 inches overall by about ten. And three quarters overall. Idon’t know what’s going on up here but. It feels like it’s made of a metal. Something so it’s a line of hook. And loop some heavy vinyl so. This heavy vinyl rough part of the hook. And loop and then the soft part of the hook.

And loop what’s the top kind of unwrapped here. Iguess so it’s sort of like a dry bag. That way that it’s sealed by folding itself over. And then seals closed. Because the way it was packaged there’s. This kind of giant fold down the middle andI’m assuming after. Some use that’ll go away. It doesn’t look like it’s actually damaged the bag at. All first reactions are the edges are kind of sealed, but they’re very rough. Idon’t think you can cut yourself but. Something might have noticed right away. And fairly pliable this was four bucks. And really groaning it so. Ihave a feeling though. Iwere to crumple this too much. It wouldn’t come back an office will focus but there’s a sort of grid pattern on. It in the material and let’s put. Something inside so again. You open a hook loop on the fold we’ll just put.

This inside to see what kind of difference there is in color. Ijust doing that’s because. Isuspect there’s going to be a little different with. That texture of them plastic. You can see it dulls. It down a little bit. It might make it anti glare. Idon’t know if that’s intentional. Ismell a vinyl if you’ve ever liked opened up a beach ball. Or a pool toy so it smells like in the room here. Ithought I’d compare. This map case from Locke sack. This is inside of a carrier, so we’ll pull the bag out. Ishould say one of the two bags. That comes with this math carrier unlock. This is a little more pricey.

Then four dollars one but you’ve got clear see through a little different. And overall it’s a more of a square shape. Then the rectangle shape but. It looks like they’d hold comparable maps. Or manuals we’ll use. One for a bit how long. It holds up compared to the lock sack right. Now could have them won. Me over seems pretty heavy at the top here we’ll see. That actually means. Anything once you’re actually using the thing perhaps a book to go in here. Even a small laptop will see so its a four-dollar waterproof pouch from coghlan’s thanks for watching you.

Agood fire starter tinder is. Another critical element of the fire building process wet fire has an all-weather tinder. That actually burns longer. When wet fire is an odorless non-toxic fire tender in order to use the web fire simply scrape. Some shavings from the cube. And ignite with your blast match. Or your strike force. Now when fire burns at 1300 degrees so. If you need to dry out your fire materials simply light the entire cube. Now the cube burns for over 10 minutes. Because the wet fire cube cools instantly. You can smother it. And use it for later use.

These are Coleman waterproof matches waterproof part really actually surprised. Me so we’ll see I will show. That tomorrow just we don’t want to use. Any water in case we start running out um buck 88 Walmart gets. You a four pack in one of these. Iwant to say holds 60. Or 40 so either way that’s quite a bit of matches um. One big thing once again oh yeah it’s 40 matches per pack so a buck 88 gets. You 160 matches um real bad made in China sticker almost as big as Coleman on the actual product. Ikind of ignored that just. It was a buck 88 I’m happy a yes. Idid so um first off we’ll look at just the quality of them so decent sized thickness of the match nice good match head not the easiest to break so that’s nice and. They light really well so. We added a little bit. More tender this is probably going to light real quick so basically they’re not strike anywhere so. You know just right up on the side get. More match they burn for quite a. While as she can probably.

We have fun while the other side so. This is slightly easier. What we’re doing earlier so yes. This is overkill but. Iam trying to show. You guys something stuff. And here the bottom of holding the bottom of the match pretty easy to light alright well we’ll show. You the waterproof dimension of. Because right nowI’m sure you’re thinking wow that’s pretty good so far so you’ll like. More after you see the waterproof part, so we’ll get back to. That tomorrow alright so. This is like a minute later not too bad we’re not making it bonfire out here but um so here. We go match just to give. You an idea of the ignition temperature let’s see it’s right there ha decent sized flame like. Isaid it’ll burn for a little. While just take the light up real well. And that’s just the chemicals in. It to make it waterproof so. You in Coleman matches. You know I was kind of. Ididn’t think they were actually going to be waterproof but here we’ll do a quick test.

And we’ll do a long term test quick yeah our water crisis is over. All right so got doused decently mess around in their head match heads still wet pretty good still lights other two. You want to leave one to soak yeah. This one’s giving me trouble oh. We might have our first dud let’s check. One there so now we’ll let. One soak and then we’ll get back to. These two have been soaking it’s still raining a little bit I’d say they’ve been in there for probably like 15 minutes 10 15 minutes. All right one well. It the first time area here’s. All ones get a little bit. Wetter and that’s been soaking so.

That was a dud earlier actually let’s try. And relight this was the dud. We had earlier let’s try. This out of the match little bit. One got rained on to be just rain so. All pretty good so we’ve got. More Coleman waterproof matches. Ireally want to discuss. These out just because in the last video. That kind of pissed. Me off so we’ll just do. More weed on cable dunk the whole box just see. That works alright, so we’re just chilling the hot springs right. Now super nice really warm. All right so I just got. This matched chillin on the water let’s see. One works so there one was just under water just lit inside of.

You alright and then. We didn’t do this last time but. Ithink the failure was on the box, so we’re going to dump the box so just dunk. It real quick because there’s. You fully a submerge your pack. You actually have matches under water for a long period of time that’s going to be a problem alright so let’s check. That out quick boxes kind of soggy but there’s water inside. All right now let’s see. How well they do yeah. And that’s where the failure is going to be is. That box you spell disaster for a Coleman waterproof match dunk in the box since ripping the sides off so matches are waterproof box not so much so as a package doesn’t work.

so we’re doing a quick video here on Noggins waterproof matches I’m so tired of mattress soaking up moisture. And not being usable. Even leaving them in our RV. While we’re not camping you come back. They won’t strike they soaked up moisture so let’s check. These out how well. They work so I’m just gonna throw. This in the creek they come in a nice wood box to help. It stands up they get wet so drop. It in the water it off You got a match after the box was wet in. Now the box you do have to let. This dry out a little bit after. He gets wet but not much. With coghlan’s the outdoor accessory people today we’re going to do. Another how-to series video on the 7870 magnesium fire starter so that’s. This right here the magnesium fire starter is a solid block of magnesium it’s made in the USA. And it’s got a flint striker built on to the backside of the block. What you do is you take your knife the back side of your knife. You scrape off magnesium shavings into your tinder. That you’re going to ignite so. What we’ve done here is we’ve prepared a little bit of a bird’s nest tinder pile here. And we’ve made some shavings in the pile. And I’ll just show you briefly. How to get the shavings off of the block just take the back side of your knife. And just scrape along the back. And that’ll create nice little shavings of magnesium then on the other side is the flint striker. You just ignite those shavings that’s. Hey guys what I’m calling myself. And today I’m gonna be covering one of the. One of the fire starters. Idiscussed in another video out of a series. Ihad, so I’m hoping to do a whole series of these videos. You like me subscribe comment tell. What you want to see. And leave any information. You have on different brands of fire starters things like. That’s because that’s that’s kind of what I’m into right. Now I’m trying to find you know good ones. What each purpose is for. One so we’ll jump right into. It today I’m gonna be testing the Koblenz magnesium fire starter. Ibelieve they call. This is made from furrow sium. This steel post here so there’s a couple things. That I’ve worried about. You know I was a boy scout the number. One thing is that’s. This piece here is glued in. You drop it can fall out but it’s so far it’s just a short way to drop in it’s not on the rock.

Anything but it’s worked pretty well so. One thing I would do maybe. If you’re really worried about. It is maybe put some glue. Some good solid adhesive right there on. Either end but I haven’t had. That problem I have had the rod fall out on other ones so. Something to be aware of. One comes a little chain. You know it’s not really. Anything I care to have. Or not have it doesn’t really make a difference to. All so the only other problem I’ve had is. Some bars they recede the furrow sium recedes very foreign hey let’s see here maybe. Ican yeah see that is down inside the bar itself. And I’ve used on a little bit it’s got a little dirt on. It too but so am I only concern then would be. It would wear out faster. You can’t really tell. Idon’t think maybe see. How it’s a little bit thinner here in the center.

It is on the sides just from use so maybe I’m not using it quite rights every time but. You know it’s just something else to be aware of so the bar in my experience doesn’t wear out before the strike stick does oh. Ikind of have a burnt piece of trash. That thing came in just buy at Walmart. Any place like that so there. You go that’s let’s get. This thing it says it will ignite damp combustible materials so water is not combustible but. If there’s water on. Something it says it’ll light. It alright lets’s go ahead. It recommends using the knife. Some of them also come with a scraper. One doesn’t, so I’m gonna make a pile of them. And I’m actually gonna cheat a little bit I’m gonna make a couple of different tests here first I’m gonna try. This is just a gun cleaning patch it’s just cotton I’m gonna try. It on a paper towel. Or a piece of a paper towel. And then I’m just gonna try. It by itself and we’ll see.

What we get so here. We go let’s start scraping now. Ifit the life of your knife. Iwould scrape with the back. This is just my beater knife. It was a $10 deal on cheaper. Then dirt so I would try. And make your scrapes. All the way down the bar so. You don’t get a big bow in the center but. You know again that’s. More for the long term. These bars are not expensive so. Iwant to scrape whatever is easiest. Whatever gives most result the fastest that’s that’s. What I would do it can take a minute. You know especially. If it’s windy out it’s really difficult to do. You have a plastic bag. You know cuz these little flakes. Iknow I’m sure camera consume but. These little itty bitty flakes. You know the little bit of wind picks up.

They just disappear so cup in your hand can kind of work but. These flakes are so small. And so lightweight they just really don’t. They really don’t hold stay in place. You know and your Boy Scout. They tell you know. These are the greatest things ever then. You learn. Some other stuff. You can use and the longevity of. Ihave no idea many uses. You could get out of. This thing I know once the striker rod wears off your start your own that’s the biggest benefit to. These rods in my opinion. Once that’s gone you know you’re gonna have a short search for another source of spark which. Ihave a knife and rock is not probably the. Most difficult thing but to get a reliable easily repeatable. One I’d be a little. More difficult we got a little pile going here so. All right that should be enough just to try. Now first we’ll try. It without anything else we’re just gonna try. It by itself so again I’m using the back of the knife. And don’t push on the blade, so we’ll try.

All right here see what’s the best way to do. You can still see there. We go pretty easy oh don’t breathe. It in no it’s not that bad but. It makes a huge cloud of dust huge. You can see what’s in my garage right. It looks like nuclear fallout but it’s kind of cool its kind of fun to play with makes a huge mess. You know you should be doing it outside but it’s kind of cold. Ilive so here I am in my semi heated garage. All right next we’ll try cloth so. You know it’s just it’s just a little bit of cloth I’m gonna try a couple of things first I’m gonna try. And light it just with the sparks see. If that’ll work I’m blowing on. It no okay let’s see here maybe. It up a little bit honey done. It caught and burned a. Few holes in it the sparks did so let’s see here fold. It in half see if it’s a little thicker so maybe thicker cloth is better bunch of sparks bunch. More doesn’t seem to be catching them yeah let.

It really there’s all right let’s try let’s try a little heftier strike here a little harder yeah see. This it’s almost there. It just it’s just not quite catching and taking off. And my goal with this cloth is. It simulates clothing or shirts. Or things like that just to see. That would work you know it’s not working now let’s try. It the way it was intended. And let’s scrape some magnesium on. Now cloth our cloth. Or cotton balls things like. Or cotton balls are perfect. Because they’re very porous. They catch the magnetar the magnesium. They keep me on they try. And hold that the wind doesn’t just pick up. And carry it away which is a huge benefit huge a huge benefit let’s see. Some pretty big flakes look at. One that’s a good one so yeah the other thing is is depending on how are just great but. You scrape it very lightly the magnesium comes off very fine, so I’m gonna test. That out here in another video I’ll leave the link at the end of the video.

Any stuff I have oh shoot just dump the whole thing out. Ihave pertaining to the fire starters will be linked to. One until I fill up the links. Any pertaining to colons. This particular style I’m gonna put on their first but feel free to go through. Some of my other fire starters. You know like I say I’ll leave the links leave the links up so make sure. You leave those on so. You can see I’m sorry I’m not fast-forwarding the video. Ijust want to have an idea on how long. It takes to scrape this is assuming. You have no wind and a blade without a blade. It can take quite a bit longer. You know using a rock like a regular old raw. You know Smasher rock. It could take quite a. While so you can see also from striking it.

What it does to a knife so. Iwouldn’t use a nice night like. This is like a $8 cheaper. Then dirt special knife so it’s a good beater knife it’s good to play around with. You don’t worry about ruining it. Iwouldn’t use a K bar. Something nicer you know. You can afford all means I’ve got. Ikeep my K bar for other ventures other. Then scraping metals so. Igot a nice little file here so let’s see. What we can do here let. Me actually let’s see. You can see so mostly bigger flakes so. You know well that lights try not to drop out here. All right here we go No there. We go oh they didn’t catch them. All let’s see I can flip. That magnesium over okay well. Idid a little bit cuz maybe. We need to scrape off a little bit. More so cloth this piece of cloth doesn’t seem to be ideal it’s not debarred. All cloth could be that I’m using bigger chunks. Ijust scrape down it seems to be safer.

That 11 a chance to slide as. Ifeel like it’s safer maybe not. And obviously I use the sharp part of the blade. It would go a little faster but. You know if that’s your only knife. Iwould not not recommend dulling the blade. You have to even then. All right let’s try. It again got a big pile. Now oh let’s see we can catch the whole thing catch the whole thing there. We made fire tada it’s definitely catching the cloth on fire it’s doing exactly. What it’s supposed to so it’s also burning there’s still magnesium on. It kind of probably hard to tell got a ball of hair there too yeah bonus so there. You have it there’s. Now we’ve made a big mess so let’s let’s go ahead. This semi flaming a piece of cloth over here out of the way. Now trying to make this as fast as possible but. Istill think there are. Many things that should be covered. You know more representative of a.

More forest material so. You know obviously cotton. You could use gauze. You know you have a first-aid kit. You should have if you’re out camping or going anywhere like. That would this would be. Something I would consider using for. That so it’s very fibrous good material, so we’re scraping again. You want you can fast-forward let’s see the flame. This coconut bar I’ve heard there are bars out there firestarter bars there are bars they’re really not light. Idon’t mean like just a difficult time. You know I didn’t just hear say. Ihave bought a bar. That would not like Nike brand of. It but uh my goal is to find out which ones do. And don’t work I mean literally. You can take a lighter. And hold it on my Ignasi ‘im flakes.

That you’ve scraped off. It will not light that’s. None of the hydration so. These Copeland’s one’s hi. Iwant to say they’re three bucks four bucks maybe. Even two or three bucks on cheaper. Then dirt or someplace. You know they’re not expensive they’re worth they’re worth spending the money on just tossing your pack but as well. You should try you should know. What takes you should know. What conditions are better to use. How to use how long. It takes to scrape you know. You need to know these things. You are cold benefit you’re know. These things before. You need to use them so a good thing is. Whenever you go camping just take. One with you play around with your kid. You just play around yourself. And get used to it familiar so familiarize. All right that should be enough well dirty. Now so ah let’s see. What we can do with. These not one cup C that’s paper towel for you. That just went right up, so I’m gonna.

Iam maybe in now making a big mess again. All right now last test can. We light the paper towel successfully easily with just a striker so let’s see. What we can do here a little bit of. Something right now I’m gonna try. Another idea I’m gonna build on. That since it’s so fibrous around the edges let’s see here. You know what a paper towel looks like. What you want is these fiber fuzzy edges, so we’re gonna tear. It up a bunch of little pieces. You want to get as much of those edges as possible it’s almost better to. It but yeah also another thing instead of pulling apart. It doesn’t always make as much fiber. It sounds ridiculous. Iknow but you twist. And tear it makes a lot of fibers. It really does so. All right so then you get a pile of. It lets’s see what happens see.

We can spark this pile almost immediately there. We go so that’s that’s the benefit from trying to light flat stuff as well. It will catch better. Iknow the materials do. That stuff I didn’t make a very large pile obviously. They give this massive bar. If you’re an emergency situation. Iwould not risk having to scrape a small pile twice. Iwould use a rather large pile the first time so that’s. What I would do there. You have it cottons balls work really well. Idon’t have any on hand to show. And subscribe you like. What you know about. These bars what ones you’d like to see I’ll test them tell. If there’s any tests. You want me to show. This for you I actually am I gonna do a drop test so. You know go look at my other ones I’m gonna drop. This from various heights. Several times on the cement. And other things to see. This rod will come out I’ve had. That happen so we’ll see.

Hello friends welcome to entelechy r. This review of the toggling magnesium fire starter bar. These things have been around for a long time I’ve had mine for quite a. Few years I believe I’ve had. This bar since I was a teenager which was. Many moons ago. You can kind of tell. Because it’s its oxidized. You can barely make out. It had Coghlan stamped in there at. One time so these are really straightforward I’ve already gone ahead just to save. Some time for the video. And shaved off some pieces so the way. These works is you have. This big bar portion as the magnesium. And then the Flint up here. You just scrape off metal shavings I’ll show. You just you take the knife. You just want to kind of go back. And forth you’re not really trying to shake a slice into the metal per se just take your knife-edge back. And forth you can see there’s little shavings coming off their magnesium is a relatively soft metal. These in the store they’ll look like. This edge here or close to. Though they’ll be pretty shiny looking but since magnesium is an oxidizing metal. If you’ve had it for years like. Ihave it’s going to turn. This kind of gray color but that’s okay there’s. Nothing wrong with it that’s just like iron will rust eventually well the magnesium bar is just going to turn gray but there’s.

Nothing wrong with it, so we’ve got a good pile of shavings there. And then you do is. You just you come on. This side with that with the Flint. You strike it with your knife to get a spark there. And I’m going to turn off. One of these lights just to make. It a little more visible. This so just point the Flint down in there. And there you go just like. This burns at 5400 degrees Fahrenheit. You can see there’s a good little glow a good little glow their let. Me put a shadow on you can see so that’s going to help. You start a fire what you want to do is. You want to have at least a quarter size of a pile of shavings at least a quarter size in diameter so.

You can get your tinder started. These are about six bucks depending on where. You go six to ten bucks. Iwouldn’t payer than six. Or seven bucks for one of these. And that’s for the COG lens. They do have some other brands out there’s. Another brand out there. That is supposedly better. This but you know it’s. More money and I’ve been happy with. One works fine they do have Chinese versions out there as well I’m not going to do a. Another video on that I’m just going to throw. It in here’s a Chinese version. Idon’t know everyone is going to be familiar with harbor freight tools but. They sell these in their stores. You can go online the thing with. These is they’re not. That expensive they’re. Ithink I’m paid like two. Or three dollars for this. This Chinese version. You know reasonable. Iguess but the thing is I’ve heard reviews about.

That let this light back up I’ve heard reviews about. These Chinese ones that they’re hit. Or miss so you just like. Any equipment you should test your equipment before. It in your system and make sure. It works but if you’re going to decide to get. One of these um make sure. You test and see. It works one does work I’m not going to shave. Even see I’ve shaped. Some off there it worked so the coat the craftsmanship isn’t quite as good you’ve got a lot of epoxy here. That holds the Flint bar in here. You know in comparison to the COG lens. You don’t have what you pay for but. This does work he made in China. One okay well that’s about.

Ihave to add about. These have been around for a long time but. These videos was just. More for people who never heard such a thing so there. You go the soglin’s magnesium fire striker you.

We do we’re going to talk about fire the fire is such an amazing and important thing for the human psyche fire is known as a chemical reaction but. It does so more things for us. It helps us cook our food. It helps sterilize our water. And in a survival situation having a fire can mean the difference between surviving and not surviving not just because of its warm but because of its psychological thing. It warms and it’s like. Ihave fire I might be able to get through. This so it’s very important, so we’re gonna talk today about. This is a Coghlan magnesium rod with a furrow seeum striker prozium known as fire steel it’s just a little piece of man made element. Once striked with the hard object. You can use a knife. You can use you can use. Anything really that’s good. And hard will make lots. And lots of sparks so. This has two different parts to. It’s got the striker. That will give you your spark. It has the magnesium. And it’s very misunderstood, so we’re gonna take a closer look right. Now at how you actually get. This magnesium off here.

It works now it’s important to know. One thing about magnesium is. This form in the brick form it’s just. That a brick form it doesn’t really do. Anything it’s a kind of metal so it’s not going to bub it’s not gonna break. Or wreck crack or rupture so it’s very stable but. It apart we get smaller pieces out of. You will find that it’s going to be an amazing product to use, so I’m gonna hand. It over to 80 venture. And he’s going to go through. How to do that alright so. What we’ve gotten here is we’ve got a little natural tinder as well as a. Few cotton balls I’ve got my trusty folding knife. And I’ve got our magnesium block right here so. What we have to do some shavings from the block onto our little tender pile here. Now it’s always recommended.

Something sharp but specifically serrated which is very good for getting off then. They ease him you need so you’re just gonna place. It here amongst your dinner use your serrated edge. And start to slice off little slivers little pieces. Ialso recommend doing this very gently. You don’t want to just blow away. All your tenure okay so. We got a nice little pile here. And we’re gonna give. That a shot so this over. Igot the furrow see’em rod I’m gonna use the back of my blade it’s nice and strong. And it’s not going to ruin the sharpness then we’re gonna see. How the spurts Wow take a look at. And with minimal effort our entire little fire is starting so. That makes a pretty great little fire. Now it’s important to understand. That magnesium is used in underwater welding so. This thing gets soaking wet. Or full of mud you basically have to do is draw is wipe.

And it’s still going to work. Now there was a miserable rainy day. And of course in a true survival situation it’s never going to be 25 Celsius. And bright and sunny like. It is right most likely going to be a miserable rainy awful day in situation. This will burn wet so. You scrape and scrape. And scrape you know. Iwould use a good portion of. This like AD venture was saying you know scrape. It off be patience take your time then. You strike if your tinder is a little bit wet you’re going to get a beautiful fire going. That is then going to automatically dry out the next stuff. It on itself and the heat generated from. This is extremely hot so. If your little tinder pile is a little bit moist. That massive heat generated from the magnesium will help dry.

And start your fire quicker yeah. Now I’m not sure the exact temperature but is. Something insane like a thousand degrees Celsius. Get a set like restarting right. You got a spare tire. You find them by the road look. This thing’s just hammered piece of junk so. What you can do you’re down fire starter. You can come in here. And just take your pocketknife start cutting a little strip out of here rubbers kind of sticky so. What you got enough to work with then just pull up on a little bit I’ll make your knife slice through. You take that little chunk right there. Now we’ll we’ll use. That to start us a fire. All right we’ve got a piece of rubber here get the bunch of magnesium shavings here. And the rubbers right next to. Now we’re going to throw a spark into their get. This thing ignited and still. We have here all right so. You see right there. We go we’ve actually ignited. We still got plenty of magnesium left like. We ignited this piece of rubber right here so right there.

Istood like I still got magnesium left here but I’ve got. This rubber ignited that’s. This is just like one little knob cut off of a tire with my pocketknife so. It works great another use for the dome magnesium fire starter let’s say you’re. You know our mountain biking or you’re. Wherever you broke down. You can just take your inner your tube. Or your bike whatever. You need to just take. That slice that like. And slice that like so. Ilike to slice it lengthwise too just so. Ihave an edge to work with here. Ilike to just show. You know lighten. That up alright I’ve got about a little pile here. Something like that right there. Now we’re going to strike. That off let’s strike. That with me let the picture a little bit I’m going to strike.

That off right there. And we’ll light our rubber inner tube with. It lets’s get this thing ready. And here we go a little. Something in there now the easiest way is just touch. What happens is that very hot magnesium just instantly sticks to. That rubber you can see. We have fire no problem there alright, so we’re going to do. This one-handed so what I’ve done is I’ve got a piece of a bark. That I’ve broken off here. One of the things with magnesium is. You want to have flatter. All your shavings can drop into flat. And smooth is what I like. That way you can it’s easy to collect them, so I’m going to do is I’m going to put my magnesium bar in here. Now I’m just going to step down with my toe of my shoe. We want to do is just start carving some shavings out here nice thing about. This Don Magnifico and uh okay so. Iprobably got enough there normally. We use our concentrator paper. And I’d only have to scrape five scrapes into a about a.

And a half inch square of. We start fire with that but. We want to do we want to do. It a little harder way today so. What I’ve done here is. II like to get it piled up the best. What I’m going to do is get. Some material right to the side here. Some very fine bark. That I’ve stripped out. And it’s kind of pounded down with a stick. That stuff’s ready to go alright so. What I’m going to do. Now is I’m going to put my magnesium bar back down here. Imight have to just. Iwill hope you can see. You just so you can see. That has worked at the same time here ophélie trying to stay out of the shadows. Everything alright so. Iwant to do is throw. Some throw a spark down in there. Igot a hurry and pull. That material over get. It started pull out over. Ibuilt kind of cantilever fire light here so it’s kind of. All hollow under there just hoping you can see maybe a little better.

That in up under there to get the fire started so here. This stuff rolling here okay. It started I want to nest. This next bark here that’s a little bit bigger pieces. That going now I’m gonna shove. That whole thing back under my cantilever deal here okay it’s a little. More awkward with one hand but it’s gonna go here. You can see it’s starting to go there. It is it’s starting to catch so. Icould go ahead some bigger material on top of there. Iwanted to we got a sapphire right there so anywhere there’s there’s fire with the dawn one-handed not a bit of trouble. You can actually do. This in a way where well you’re not. Even you’re not even touching the ground. Or getting close to the damn gun.

Anything what you ought to do. You need about five scrapes of magnesium. Igot plenty here kept magnesiums right down on the bottom of there. Ijust want to shake. It together so it’s. One little pile right there those little shavings can actually stick. It into the bundle and strike. That way which is that’s. What I’m going to do here it’s going to tuck. It rights it tucked. It rights down into that bundle there. Ican start it without. They can start this without. Even being down on the ground. Now which is one of the pluses here hey see. That started like that okay. You hold that up like. We want to get that flame. All up through there. Now here’s the nice thing about. This bundle the winds not going to blow. It put it’s only going to help. Now let’s take this over here. It into the fire you notice. We can just walk with. This thing wherever. We need to go now well position. All that’s good pull our other stuff up over here alright so.

One here is the concentrator. And I’m going to use my old doggie kit here hey hi old my old down magnesium stick that’s pretty well-used. And abused but it’s still going strong with our stretch lanyard. That comes with everything our kid always comes with a stretch lanyard. And a scraper stick scraper blade the advantage is. You have a quick flame instant flame the concentrator paper comes on a mini roll. This has been used quite a bit there’s enough on there for about 150 fires. And it’s water resistant. These gets happen to get. What you can just wipe. It off on your pants. Whatever and go ahead. It works fine the like. Isay instant flame no broke no blowing with the mag stick you’re just doing like 5 strokes of shavings spark.

And you’re good to go ok so basically. How we’re doing here is just using this too as a platform kind of to hold our scraping material. This actually you can do. This faster actually. You only need about 5 5 scrapes. We kind of form that together so everything’s. One little spot there. And then at this point. We want to do is we want to do is just throw a spark down in there. And we’re good to go just like. That okay now we’re going to do is we’re going to use the fire stick. They come in a little pouch in here there’s about seven. Or eight seven of them in there. This is beeswax impregnated cord. That is continence and cotton. And synthetic material. It burns very well. You can last it’ll last about five minutes burn time.

You can stick the ring stick. It in the ground underneath your tinder. Or kindling to give. You about five minutes of burn time like. We rarely use this but. You know you get a tough situation. You want something to help. You put a little bit. This is a nice way to go it’s water-resistant just wipe. What I like to do is take the end of. And just kind of pound. It put a little bit like. It makes it start better to have a little kind of fine raw edge on there to catch the flame so that’s. You do right there to get. It started we do use the concentrator paper. That gives us our instant flame so. We go ahead and do our scrapings into there just a.

Few scrapings down on the bottom that’s. We need, so we’re going to do is just strike a spark into their gut flame. You can see it kind of got away from. Me for a second this thing lights up very quick. Either hold you can lay. It down in there you can wedge. It in against a little piece of wood. Whatever you can stick. It in the soil or the dirt underneath. You know whatever you need to do but see. We got a fire now here’s. Another nice thing see that’s. Idid is use a little bit got a fire started. Istill got quite a bit of quite a bit left. Ican still use here so anyway so that’s using the fire sticks.

All right now we’re going to use the method with the naked method. That we’re using just the magnesium bar itself. This method you can start. You can really start the fire with. This without any of the other aids. We showed in the other two videos but. You know this a method. That will always work anytime. You can light a fire. It can be lit with this method we’re going to make about a quarter sized pile of shavings on. This piece of bark tinder. Everything and we’re going to strike. This stuff off here like.

This is gonna be a test of the Cullens waterproof fire sticks as. You can see there were proof. This has been this piece has been immersed in water for about 24 hours. Now it’s still floating it has discolored the water a little bit the water is kind of pale amber color might be able to see. It there so something is leeching out of. That into the water but the main thing is to find out. This actually will still work it’s still floating so. That means it has not absorbed. Any water let’s remove. This piece here it on the table it’s rough up. Some edges there see. That helps it takes a spark well actually not taking a spark. It takes a light because the wind would kick up I’m gonna start. This doesn’t clear say for once to burn. And we’ll compare this to a fresh stick which looks like. It starts to burn right away. It looks like a little pieces caught there. And the fresh stick is going all out. That looked like a gust of wind caught. It just as we’re starting to do. Something, so I guess the moral of the story is. That immersion in water for over 24 24 hours might be a bit much for it but. It is burning you okay. Once again this was a test of the Kaufman’s would approve fire sticks. One of the sticks was immersed in water for about 24 hours. That difficulty starting and being lit but. He got lit it was just as effective as the.

That was fresh and dry so. Iguess the moral of the story is. It shouldn’t be immersed in water for a long period of time. Or perhaps and maybe I’ll give. This a shot should be allowed to drive first dry off a little bit first before it’s attempted to be lit. You guys use this let. Me know about I think it’s a decent product get 12 pieces they’re little on their waiting side but as. You want to get a fire started maybe. Or two added to your kit broken into sections maybe thirds. Or quarters would be a good thing to have.

Hey youtube Rando here today we’re going to be tested out looking at the COG one’s waterproof fire sticks says. These will start fires quickly. And easily leaves no odor burns completely easy to store in a pack. And non-toxic now the instructions on back so to break the sticks in half. And insert two or three pieces under loosely stacked wood lights easily. Even after being submerged in water burn inside a tin can for light. And warmth like one stick for you as a flare. You stick alone to heat food. And water, so we’re going to just try the water there. Either see how waterproof. They are you can pick. These up for about two dollars. Ithink they’re like a dollar ninety-nine at but k. And I’ve seen them on eBay for like 250. Something like that which would but ke. You pay shipping and with eBay it’s usually free shipping so. You just have to figure out which. One is cheaper it is an american-made product by a Canadian company so. We support Canada and American ones who play right on. They are kind of heavy they’re not very light. Idon’t know what they’re made out of exactly right here.

Some water I’m just going to submerge. That for a few minutes. Few seconds long enough for the outside at least to get wet. How well it repels water start up in there a little bit. And we’re just going to break. This in half, and we’re going to burn the wet end. Ido see it coming off in the water. These things might float we’re just going to break. It off okay sorry about. That is wet and just go ahead. And show you we’ll dip. It down in there again. Even the ends wet you can see it’s opened up there, so we’re just going to try to light. If it’ll light it won’t then we’ll crumble. It open a little bit see. What it does well let’s burn. And it’s definitely wet definitely was not dry at. It open a little bit of wood went inside of. This way it was kind of hard to light took a little longer. And expect that water handy in case.

It goes crazy Barnum. You definitely cook off. Idon’t know how fast it’s going to burn. Because I’m not going to let the whole stick burn up in here. We are inside says it’s a non-toxic but.
